Reviews (page 7 of 7)
This was stupid. Gangsta rap is stupid. I don’t care about how many people you’ve shot, it doesn’t make you cool. His voice sounds nice though.
There’s a lot of rap that’s unlistenable due to the unrelenting nihilistic stupidity of the lyrics and this is a good example.
Pure crap
Rap is not for me
OMG - Another hour of my life that I'll never get back.
Sorry, but that’s not music; it’s the musical equivalent of Tourette's diarrhea, performed by a misogynistic, violence-glorifying thug with no musical talent. It feels like half the lyrics are just 'I, I, I, I, I', ''n-word, n-word, n-word, n-word', 'motherf*cker, motherf*cker, motherf*cker, motherf*cker', 'gangsta, gangsta, gangsta, gangsta' and 'bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch'. Compared to the other rap albums I’ve heard in this challenge so far (such as Gang Starr and The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy), this is the most simplistic and rambling verbal diarrhoea I’ve heard from an egomaniacal idiot.
Not terrible but nothing for me
Not my music , kinda boring... nigga, m......er , shootings , p...y , seems repetitive once the 80s Rap passed it seems we do not need any more of this
I don’t normally listen to rap, but I have the feeling that people who are into rap would thing this album is crap.
couldnt finish it, not my type of music i dont want to listen to gun shots tbh
It's a no - thank you.
There may be a couple of bangers on this album, but what's with artists of this era and the homophobia?
Nah bro
Hard nope
Boring with a capital B.
All explicit
This is absolutely terrible and should not be on any list.
This was bloody awful. I'm getting close to the end of the project and as much as I'll miss it, the one thing I won't miss will be this kind of American hip hop garbage. There was nothing appealing or redeeming about Get Rich Or Die Tryin'. It sounds so foreign to my ears. 50 Cent - and every other rapper that falls within this category - are all such wannabe gangster try hards.
Almost as bad as his first pitch for the Mets
Nah
If you paid 50 cents for it, you paid too much. 0.00
Awful.
Not a fan. Probably clever, but I think it comes across as too matcho in a way I don't particularly like.
*nothing but rap, no Music
Just about managed to get through to the end, but the songs meant nothing to me and I didn’t find anything redeeming to note.
Rounding up to a 1.
Nope
Nope. Not for me.
not my jam at all
meh. Base hip hop is dull. The gunshot nonsense was really stupid.
I like one song. Hence the one star. Not really my thing.
Awful.
I never listen to this homophobe
1.5 - just not for me
Dull
With Eminem is automatically 1*
Blech
An album concentrating on the N word, MF word and his extensive knowledge of guns…shite
Not for me. I find that super laid back rap delivery doesn't really work for me. The production grated on me pretty quickly. Then lyrically I found the gangster stuff, guns, objectifying women all pretty irritating.
Awful. This has absolutely no redeeming qualities.
Wow this has aged poorly. I don't think that I have ever heard such a dated album that actually came out within my lifetime. It just uses all the same boring hip hop clichés over some of the most mediocre and uninteresting rapping and production I have ever heard.

Can't listen to this stuff
wtf. why? why? this is music?
I can't bring myself to listen to a 50 Cent album. This list was already pretty dubious and now this?!?!?!
You could say it’s minimalist because of its un-fussy, straightforward production. Or you could say it’s maximalist, with its giant orchestra hits. Either way, it’s *insubstantial*. It lacks substance. It’s big and dumb. It’s a Fast and Furious movie. It’s a jumbo hot dog with zero toppings. It’s an episode of Highlander on a Sony Watchman.
Did not listen
"fuck fuck fuck pussy nigga fuck fuck gun gun fuck nigga fuck gun" I'm too white for this shit
Just not my stuff.
It was mediocre at the time. It's aged poorly and even worse now.
Oh dear, another one.
Not my thing and I didn’t really like it. In Da Club is iconic I guess but not enough to save this
Hip Hop, 38 eme album => 1/5
Man this album was a lot better when I was in 6th grade and didn't know what the words meant. This is pretty trash besides some excellent beats.

It’s troubling to me that people find violence, hedonism, and misogyny so appealing.
Seriously? This? After 4 decades of monumental rap and hip hop albums? Sorry, not in my top 1000.
No
Yo shorty! Gonna pass due to the outsize portion of my life that 50 Cent has taken up simply by declaring it someone's birthday. He gets a point for continuing to publicly vex fellow has-been Diddy.
When we do "1001 macho posturing recordings with multiple gunshot sounds you should hear before o threaten to kill you", I will be all over this. Until then, 1 star.
There's some some real cognitive dissonance in "Da Club" where you're fetishizing queer women but slamming your rivals as queer men.
I am mostly disgusted, I got used to it later but towards the end I just wanted to kill myself hearing this so damn.
The inclusion of rubbish like this just makes the omission of MF DOOM even more baffling. Some of the samples are quite catchy, but his rapping is meh (all of the best rapping on the album is by the guest rappers) and the lyrics are pathetic.
I couldn’t make it through a single song.
Yeah ... no.
I did not need to listen to this before I died, I think. An interestingly nostalgic listen, such a sign of the times.
I'm A Motherfuckin' P.I.M.P. 1001 Albums Generator 60 (06/25/2025) I'm going to start this review with a list of hip-hop albums by artists that are not present on the list at all that are highly acclaimed AND personal favorites. BROCKHAPTON - Saturation III Dalek - From Filthy Tongues Of Gods And Griots Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition Death Grips - The Money Store DJ Screw - Bigtyme Vol II: All Screwed Up Koopsta Knicca - Da Devil's Playground: Underground Solo Little Ugly Mane - Mista Thug Isolation Madvillain - Madvillainy MF DOOM - MM..FOOD Three-6 Mafia - Mystic Styles Tyler, The Creator - IGOR It's easy to look at something like 50 Cent's Get Rich Or Die Tryin' and try to justify its inclusion on 1001 Albums To Listen To Before You Die using arguments that include the words "influence" and "popularity", but this list's relative lack of hip-hop albums make the available spots very valuable. Simply being popular without having quality to go along with it is simply not enough to earn a spot on this list, and unfortunately, this is the camp that Get Rich falls into. Don't get me wrong, the hits are a lot of fun. After a bit of a slow start, the album hits us with 3 great songs in a row. Patiently Waiting is produced by Eminem and features a great verse from him. This was right around when Marshall was in his prime, so he does great here. Many Men (Wish Death) is one of the most badass songs put to tape. It is about 50 Cent's near death experience after being shot 9 times in 2000. In Da Club is the song that every college girls listens to on her birthday. It's super catchy. P.I.M.P. and 21 Questions are also massive hits that I had forgotten about honestly before listening to this album. But really, 19 (mostly) forgettable songs and 70 minutes later, is my life better now? Am I glad that I listened to this album before I died? No. This style of rap is just so dated and has aged terribly. Note, many albums in the list above have very "gangsta" lyrics; my problem is not with the fact that the lyrics talk about this lifestyle, but that they do a poor job at it. 50 Cent is not a convincing MC, which is so funny because he literally lived this shit. Somehow, every time he talks, I just think about the fact that he tweeted "I can't believe my grand mothers making me take Out the garbage I'm rich fuck this I'm going home I don't need this shit" and I question my life choices. Get Rich Or Die Tryin' is a pretty bad album. If it were an EP or even just a single vinyl's worth of music, it may be a 2, but as it is, I can't justify giving it more than a 1. I'll be fine never listening to it again. Favs: In Da Club P.I.M.P. 21 Questions Least Fav: Like My Style
Lets just say this met and somewhat exceeded my expectations.
Repetitive, annoying, violent, and somewhat stupid. Same exact thing every gangsta rapper has been doing for the decade before this, probably longer. 50 Cent's marble mouthed overconfidence has no irony or deprecation whatsoever. Like most stuff in this genre it's all bad all the way down, everything sucks all the time, the only way out is to die. Or kill someone I guess. THe lowest of the low, congratulations.
this was a rough start, so overly repetitive and hated the lyrics
This is comically bad. Basic beats, basic rapping, juvenile lyrics.
Meh
Not enjoyable musically, nothing catchy, lots of stupid lyrics
shyte
This has got to be a joke inclusion. This is not great Hip Hop. This is cliche nonsense. Continues to support my case that the naughties were the worst decade of popular music, ever. "In da Club" would be fine if they would cut out the ridiculously sophomoric lyrics and vocals and just let the jam groove instrumentally. But alas, we are stuck with idiotic lyrics ruining the groove. WTF Hip Hop?! Stop with the 1 hour long albums. Ain't nobody got patience for that.
Kinda ass.
I hate this. Couldn't finish this rap pile of trash. I guess the only resealing quality was I didn't hear and stupid skies that rap albums tend to have; I only got a little halfway through, there might have been some and I didn't get to them. I'm not going to find out though. 0/5
This was painful to listen to. Cheesy simplistic loops. Rapping about how much of a badass he is. I made it about 12-14 songs in and gave up. One of the worst albums I've listened to on this list.
I really hate this junk
I wish Dre had spent his time and energy on a more worthy rapper than 50 Cent. What a waste.
Not for me 1/5
Rap, 2003 -> 1
This has not aged well at all. It was bad when released and is worse now. The words rap and music soild never be used in the same sentence.
This sucks... to each their own. One thing is clear; No other form of music has played such an integral role in the deaths of so many American youth, nor led to an epidemic of unwanted and parentless children. 50 Cent and his peers reap the riches from their message of bravado bullshit. I've got no use for this misery.
No, keine Chance!
Why is this album anywhere near the others?
Huh, this monotony has been going on for a while. <checks playlist> Oh shit, there's another 25 minutes to go‽
Admittedly, this isn't my favorite genre, but I've heard better... way better... This radiated a stiflingly lazy vibe to me. I felt like I was being asked to put more energy into listening to it than 50 put into producing it. Honestly, this doesn't even deserve a 1 since I'd rather have an album outright disgust me than induce such a feeling of ennui.
why is this here
It doesn't get much worse than this
If your life is this bad, surely you don't want others following you down this path. I really do not get this entire genre of music and why record companies continue to release it.
I would appreciate if someone better informed than me could explain hip hop's evolution to being the most popular musical form of the early 00s.The samples are less hooky and drawn from a much narrower range of sources than those chosen by, say, De La Soul or A Tribe Called Quest. At some point, the art of collaging sound became divorced from hip hop entirely, left to the Avalanches or someone, returning sampling to avant garde tradition starting with Pierre Boulez. Or something. I don't know. I'm not an historian. Perhaps these aren't samples anyway. Maybe they are just beats. In which case, when did it become the prevailing aesthetic that beats should be tinny, plodding, and cluttered? Perhaps these beats are groovy or slinky or something, but the timbre of everything is so course that I can't feel it. The vocal is mumbled and hard to follow, so any complaints about the lyrical content aren't coming from me - I don't know what they are. Of course, hip hop became the most popular musical form of the time by becoming pop music of the time. As the title suggests, this is a project aiming to make 50 Cent rich, but, in the trying, something definitely died. While I was listening to wildly different things that was how it felt to me at the time, that this was product + pose, with nothing else to it. Listening to it properly now, that seems about right. 1 I have grumbled about every rap record we have encountered so far and my common complaint is that the backdrop to the (mere) talking is always little more than one or two bars of music on a loop. Well here is a record that dismantles that preconception like…let’s say shooting a person until their brains come out. Not only does Get Rich or Die Tryin’ have someone footering on a keyboard a good portion of the time - 50 Cent actually sings a bit! Even more surprising is that in this act of what seems to me something like daring, 50 Cent has made the worst rap album I’ve heard yet. Wow. How little I know about rap. Now 50 shows me how little I want to know. 0.5/5
It's like Eminem without any of the humour or self-reflection that redeemed parts of his discography.
Jesus christ this album is very very long... And aged like milk..
No
I don't see the appeal at all. I'm not a huge rap fan but these raps are not that good, the instrumentals are really basic, and I can't help but notice that he's rapping behind the beat sometimes. If you don't have good rhythm then don't rap, but I know he does because he does in some songs. I also thought that the album kind of blended together and I can't tell you how over half of the songs even go they didn't stick in my mind at all. Overall, I didn't like it at all. Favorite Song: Waiting Patiently (I like Eminem) Least Favorite Song: Poor Lil Rich (Idk it was kind of a blur)
This has the 5th Billion Play (1.7B) with "In Da Club" and "P.I.M.P" at over 800k. I understand it being her birthday and we gonna celebrate because you her pimp, but outside of that I can see why his name is 50 cent, because this album ain't worth half a buck
90s rap, not my preference, but this one was well known.
Nah, not my thing
Get in the bin.
Rap is not a good genre for me. I can't relate to most of it and, most critically, I have audio processing issues that make it very difficult for me to understand lyrics. That means most rap for me lives or dies by its beats, and with a few exceptions most rap is not musically or structurally interesting enough to engage me. In this case, the beats are good, but they are offset by 50 Cent's AWFUL singing and generally mediocre flow. There's also EIGHTEEN songs of this, so as much as I want to reward the production with a star, I cannot in good faith say I enjoyed listening to this.
this era of rap is just absolute garbage to me and this album is its poster boy. basically you've got 3 or 4 songs, some of which sound like they're using Casio keyboard beats, repeated over 54 minutes (thank god the last 4 songs were bonus tracks, which to me means i was under no obligation to subject myself to them)
Wow ur like so cool mr gangsta
With some exceptions (when I can enjoy the music), I really can't listen to hip hop for more than 15 minutes. I don't enjoy the music on this album.
Any albun where every alternate word is "mutherfucka" is an immediate 1 star.
Didn’t like all the F and N words! Just a downer listening to this album.
Gimme 50 cent so I can buy a bag a chips.
Just no. Music for complete idiots.
I just can’t stand it. The type of hiphop that 14 year olds believe it’s edgy because of the cocking gun sound effects and white chicks love to wohoo in da club 🤮
I sometimes wonder if it's worth it. If the occasional discoveries really outweigh moments like this. When the album of the day pops up, and it's one that everyone and their dog knows, 1.5 billion streams on its hit. And I know precisely what to expect and what I could totally not care less about. a): Boooring. b): this one's pretty shit to boot. Couple of disjointed thoughts: had clearing samples become more difficult or expensive in the 10 years between this and, say, Snoop's or Dr. Dre's gangsta rap debuts? Because the music on here that's not beats all sounds like someone's hacking away at a toy keyboard. And did this album pave the way for rap devolving into artists mumbling over the same lawn sprinkler hi-hats, rhyming words with "words"? Pretty sure it did. Awful, awful legacy. Outside of In Da Club's unfortunate effectivity at making my head involuntarily bop, and that Eminem bit maybe, there are no whatsoever redeeming qualities here. Ugly hustle macho dreck. Out of curiosity, I asked ChatGPT to write me a review linking "get rich or die trying" to the rise of characters like the Tate brothers. It nailed the assignment. 🗑, next.
Shite bro
Wanskter Rap. Utterly without value.
Not for me
I’ve heard enough of these songs before to know that I hate it so gonna skip this one.
it’s not cool to be a pimp
These albums are robbing me of the will to live.
Please don't make me listen to music like this ever again
Like i keep saying when hip hop comes up this music was not made for people like me so i cannot give honest review except to say I don’t like it. 1/5 23/5/24
Nope.
I hate rap. There's a track with Eminem which is OK because, basically, he's better.
Didn’t care for it period
Something you ought to know is that I cannot stand people who are full of themselves. 50 Cent is an arrogant, tone-deaf douchbag who's so high on ego that he's practically impregnated himself. I find it funny that people love to drag Morrissey through dirt, but turn a blind eye towards the hip hop industry. Is it because Morrissey’s a white guy, so it's easier to criticize him? (/semi-sarcasm, maybe.) As far as it goes musically, 50 Cent sucks at rapping, his songs sound like parodies, and he has a sh** annoying voice. Sadly, it seems like most of the new generation has no music taste (I'm saying that like I'm not a Generation Z too.) More critical hip hop reviews coming soon (/joke, but not really.)
I'd like to take this opportunity to say I've enjoyed listening to a variety of hip hop albums as a part of this project. Just some of the most creative, vibrant music ever made by some incredibly talented people. Albums I love and will listen to again long after this project is over. This... is not one of those albums. I've been thinking a lot about this album, which I almost gave a higher rating. I tried to consider it for its contributions to the genre, or give it credit for being clearly very popular. But, nah. Popularity doesn't bestow value on a work of art; neither does a positive critical response. The music is fairly listenable as these things go and as a total work, 50 Cent pulled together a cohesive collection of songs. It's not a complete shell of an album in that regard. But I didn't enjoy it on any level. It lacks creativity, nuance and lyrical depth, and I couldn't wait for it to be over. And I owe don't owe 50 Cent any of my stars. Fave Songs: Don't Push Me, In da Club
Not
After so many good hiphop albums on this list, this was bound to happen. An entire music style built for saying a lot in a short time. But after having finished this album I don't think anything of substance has been said in an entire hour. I feel dumber having listened to it. I'll be back in the other corner of hip-hop.
bad
I am not a fan of the genre. I do not like to celebrate violence. The closing track of this album has a line: "I don't like ya'll anyway - fuck all ya'll."
Total utter shit. Nothing stinks as badly as this.
I’m really surprised to see a 50 Cent album be considered as an essential listen. I didn’t realise he was that important in music. I definitely know a few songs of his. I remember someone playing some video game when I was a teenager about rappers fighting. It was called something like Def Jam Oiled Fighter Boys Bonanza. Songs I already knew: In Da Club, PIMP, 21 Questions Favourites: In Da Club I can’t deny the catchiness of In Da Club, but this album was mostly quite rubbish. Here are some gems from the lyrics: “I love you like a fat kid love cake” “I'm your friend, your father, and confidant, bitch” And those are from the bigger songs. Really not my kind of music, to be honest. The best bits were probably when the featured rappers took the helm.
Bit much.
u must be joking
The only positive thing I’ve got to say about this is fair play to him, hes made a living out of this. I imagine he’s got a canny pension behind him. Lyrically, it’s the worst I’ve heard on this list so far, and the whole idea of this album just annoys me. It’s firmly in the ‘utter, utter shit’ category for me.
Wouldn't want to jump to any conclusions but I think fiddy is trying to say he's a rich gangster with guns that you don't want to mess with. Maybe he could have added some bonus tracks along these lines so that more than the current 100% of content could have tackled these themes. Heard one song and you've heard the album, except youve saved an hour of your life, congratulations. Sampling cocking a gun and using it in the beat for a whole track was equal parts hilarious and horrendous. I guess the beats are generally okay but I find the smug violent posturing unlistenable.
Dreadful. In Da Club does have a decent rhythm and I remember it being exceptionally popular. A poor, violent album.
We got bling, we got bitches, and oh boy do we have guns. Roll up, the gang is all here! The trifecta of gangsta rap. If you like the aforementioned, interspersed with the occasional "G unit" shout, you're in for a treat. He can rap, his voice sounds ok and I assume he wrote it, it's just the content is inane. This album epitomises everything that makes me dislike gangsta rap. I challenge anyone to find me an album that demonstrates this better. I really don't like the singles at all either which doesn't help. Played to absolute death. If I had to pick one highlight, it would be 21 questions. I would've guessed this album was released before 2003, it sounds more like it's from 1993 to me. I definitely had it. It was popular when I was at school. Yesterday we had Stanktonia which was released in 2000, 3 years before this, but feels so much more fresh (and clean) than this It's honestly quite impressive that every track on a 1hr 15 minute album is about violence or misogyny The amount of plays this has on Spotify would suggest that I know nothing! Doesn't fit with my east coast is better theory
This album started out okay enough, Hell I even thought I was enjoying it, which was shocking, but then as the hour(!) dragged on I started realizing how tiring this "I'm so cool" shit is. I'm all for being a cool as fuck, ballin' gangster, you do you man, but not a single thing here feels real. It feels like a guy coping with the fact he is a nobody, and can't handle that, so has to build himself up, give confidence by repeating the same tired stereotypes of fucking things up in the streets and the sheets, and not a single moment feels justified. It only explains to me why so many YouTube comments under these songs are like "these are my hustling songs" or "this gets me pumped" because no one is actually impressed with 50 Cent's accomplishments, they only take his place because they wish they were as cool as his lifestyle, and they daydream about it while working their 3rd shift at the gas station. If you enjoy this, more power to you, as I said, at first I get it, but if you think this whole album's existence is justified, rather than just one or two tracks, I want to know what draws you in, because all I'm seeing is a wannabe gangster rap great, and they make that abundantly clear that's what 50 Cent is, with all the allusions to other, BETTER rappers. 50 may have had hits, but he fell out fame pretty quickly, and this album explains that.
I know this is considered a landmark album in early 2000s hip hop, and for a lot of people it defined an era. I went into it fully aware of its reputation and cultural impact, hoping I might find something in it that connected. It just did not land for me. The production is polished and confident, and you can hear why it dominated at the time. There is swagger, hooks and plenty of attitude. But across a full album listen, it all felt very one dimensional to my ears. The themes, the tone and the overall vibe never really shift, and I found myself disengaging rather than getting pulled in. I can respect its place in music history and the impact it had commercially and culturally. It is clearly an important record for the genre. It just does not align with my personal taste, and I cannot see myself returning to it. Favourite song: None stood out enough for me Least favourite song: Most of the album blends into one for me Album artwork: Instantly recognisable and iconic for many, but not one I would choose to display
I’m sure if there were only 1,001 albums in the world I wouldn’t want to have this as one to listen to. Look, it’s not offensive. In places the music bounces along in quite a catchy way. But I’m not convinced the lyrics are either profound, clever or interesting. If The Wire had a soundtrack this would be it.
Every song sounds the same. In da club sounds slightly better than the rest. No thanks.
Just don’t
1/5. Gangster rap really has not aged well. It's ultimately a collection of songs talking about how tough/cool/great he is.
Another one of those albums that isn't for me. There is nothing here for me to relate to, it's not aimed at me. I get it. But I like hip hop and I know really I don't like this. The main reason is that I don't think 50 is very good at his job. A rapper that isn't good at rapping. I'm not Eminem's biggest fan, but his appearance on 'Patiently Waiting' really stands out as the closest this thing has to a highlight. The production is meh, the themes are endless violence and excess ... which I could forgive but we're back to everything just not being very good. Millions of people lapped it up, so what do I know.
Is this a joke?
This is so shit. A real nail in the coffin of hip hop. Tone - monotone, he sounds bored of himself, but then… occasional out of tune singing! Flow - generic and uninspired. Production - lazy and repetitive. Lyrics - complete gangster garbage. I hate that this was so popular.
Didn’t listen to the entire album because I didn’t want to and I remember when these songs were everywhere.
trash
I can see why he became popular, but I am not a fan.
2/10 bro, this shits unbelievably weak like how can a dude write this and think it sounds hard in any way it’s just hilariously bad, like oh my god
Dit album laat me volkomen koud.
Very monotonous mostly thanks to boring beats. Sound vaguely expensive but slow, doesn't have much substance in the lyrics. Nah! Not made for me.
No
Correct decision to remove from the book. It was shit then, and it's shit now. I didn't bail on this one, the only one I couldn't get through was Cee Lo Green. But, this is rubbish from start to finish, and seems to have only got mediocre critical praise at the time. Being a huge commercial success does not make an album an essential listen, it just doesn't. Also, just like Eminem and all this millennium era rap, it's aged fucking terribly. Basically forgot this guy existed, noone talks about him anymore. For someone who was so huge at this time that's quite an achievement.
Really.? Bullshit boring rap album that does nothing new. Even the beats are dull. Ememem can't save it Unfathomable.
Hip-Hop meets Gansta Rap. Not for me.
.... currently sitting on a plane after midnight listening and realizing I'd much rather watch 50 Cent throw out another first pitch than listen to any more of this. Monotoned spitting of often too many lyrics and lyrics I don't care about... and crucially: repetitive music without much in the way of hooks... hard pass. 2/10 1 star
I can't be objective.
Shitty Scent.
Rap just ain't my thing.
Another album off my probably least favourite genre eschewing values I despise the most.
¿Why would I listen to this album? I did. The backing music made it bearable, as long as I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics. I don't need to hear someone brag about being someone I probably wouldn't like anyway.
This record /sounded/ good and I appreciate it sold a lot of copies - wasn't my thing at all though.
Nää, orkade inte ens lyssna på hela…
meh... ill die trying to listen to this album again I think
Lol. No
First time listener. I just don't know what to think, clearly judging from the number of plays he's huge but I don't get it. Take In Da Club what is so good about that? It is a ye standard hip hop track, utterly predictable and ordinary lyrics, a little bit of rhythm and yet its huge. Why? What's going on here, this is so, so seriously ordinary. I mean it's not bad, it's not rubbish on a Stephen Stills level of rubbish, it just is. It's there. Nothing, and I mean nothing, made me want to put it back on, no need to rewind. Don't believe the hype.
Maybe this album should be called Get Rich or Kill Trying. I can’t even filter out the lyrics and half-enjoy the beats, for all the gunshots and tinkling cartridges.
Feels just like a jellyfish on my genitals. It's so bad that I've fucked my nan to death in a violent rage. She said that she hated it too.

Track 1: Intro This album opens with a coin flip sound effect. Kinda cool. I’m glad it isn’t lengthy Track 2: What Up Gangsta This song is insanely violent to the point where I’m just gonna skip it. Track 3: Patiently Waiting That little random horn in the background suuuucks. This song isn’t as bad as the last one. Eminem carried this one. Track 4: I like the beat, but boy the lyrics are so macho violent. Similar to track 2 Track 5: In Da Club This one is a classic honestly. The beat is amazing. The flow is good too. This song does get old fast tho Track 6: High All The Time I like the beat, but I don’t care about the lyrics at all. Track 7: If I Can’t Another violent song but the beat is nice. Track 8: Blood Hound I unironically love the drippy fart sounds in the back. Beat is great. 50’s flow is good but the lyrics are what you’d expect. Young Buck is a good feature on this track. Dog bark sounds. Track 9: Back Down “My flow is bonkers” This is some clowny writing. Even the beat is kinda silly. This manages to flex how #gangsta you are but makes you come off like a kid. Track 10: P.I.M.P. Steel drum.mp3 love that steel drum though. The beat is lovely but the lyrics… atrocious Track 11: Like My Style This is bad. Track 12: Poor Lil Rich This song is about being rich and talking about how you used to not be rich. It’s lazy and there is no emotion behind it. Track 13: 21 Questions Oh I like this beat so far. Sounds a little… beachy. I like the beat. Lyrics are awful. “I love you like a fat kid love cake” funny but okay 😃 Track 14: Don’t Push Me Yay Eminem is back. I skipped to his part. All these songs give the same exact message. It was old from the beginning. Track 15: Gotta Make It To Heaven This is just goofy-violence-flexing. More horn sound effects 💀 Track 16: Wanksta Oh geez. This is a song dedicated to some “poser” 50 was not a fan of. This beep boop beat silly. Track 17: U Not Like Me This has the same message as that last song but without the stupid beat. Track 18: Life’s On The Line Ugh beat is good but yeah, same lyrics
Amazing how athletic this guy looks and all I think about when I see him is his disastrous first pitch at a Mets game. I thought “In Da Club” was an unassailable song when I was in HS. I find it merely okay these days.
Yeah, no. I thought this was trash when it came out almost 20 years ago and I still think it's trash now.
Still not a rap fan
"Gangsta" hip-hop trash. 0.5/5
Meh. Feels like it's just crude for crude's sake.
Aika kärsimystä kyllä oikeesti. Kauheeta uhoo. 1/5
Rap's not my thing.
Well, it will be pretty hard for me to describe this album. Mainly because this is my least favourite type of one of my least favourite genres. Is this album on the list because of something revolutionary that 50 Cent or his producers have done? Or is it just a peak example of the specific Gangsta Rap subgenre? Or maybe it was just very successful in terms of sales, so it had to be included here? In any case, it probably wouldn't get my vote. Whole album consists of catchy beats, mainly known for songs that made it high on pop lists, like 'In Da Club', or 'PIMP'. 50 Cent style of rapping is rather bland and his lyrics are one-dimensional. Plenty of collaborators on the album, most notably Eminem, but they don't change anything for better or worse. I believe that fans of this style of music will find plenty of enjoyment, but I reckon that neutral fans of music would rather just walk by it, like I did after first listening to this album.
Not my thing.
