Very difficult to listen to Kanye West objectively. Before I knew what a shithead he is, I liked a lot of what he did and thought he was a musical pioneer. Not this record though. Leaving aside my disdain for him, I found lyrics to be misogynistic, juvenile, and crass. The music wasn’t breaking much ground here either. His earlier records were worlds better. This one doesn’t deserve to be in this list.

Do I have to? As always with Kanye, the production is good but the bars are god awful.

Let's start with the positive bits. I genuinely like the synth riffs and many of the backing parts. Although having read about it they make a big deal about how these are really aggressive and anything vaguely tuneful or nice was dumped for more edgy sounds. Well, that is rubbish. There isn't really anything edgy here and suggests to me that Kanye and his crew aren't actually that wide ranging in their musical influences. Next, I think he has a good rhythm and flow, he's clearly figured out how to get the best out of his voice. Right. Onto the crux of the matter. Kanye can piss off. So much of this album is him playing the victim, lording over everyone telling us how bad we are cos of racism. Obviously this is a valid point, but when every other line from him is laced with pure misogynism any preaching he tries to do just falls flat. I'm totally fed up of hip hop artists decrying everyone else for persecuting them while at exactly the same time openly saying things that make 80s glam rock band sound like feminists. It's pathetic. You can top this review off by pointing out Kanye's Nazi affiliations, but it doesn't seem that much of a jump from what I'm listening to. Look, I might be missing the point, I'm not in a minority, I haven't experienced the racism that is prevalent, especially it seems, in America... But I also know not to be an absolute shit to women. I was gonna put 2 cos of the music being good... But I'm just fed up of this whole approach and our if everyone Kanye deserves the bigger rebuke. So 1 it is.

This album is like the full crazy terrible parts of College Dropout without the relatibility. Kanye's ego is out of control. Even before he went of the rails and needed serious help from a mental healt professional (feels obvious that this man is delusional and not fit to even spend a second on social media) he was praised for his production skills, so does it hold up... nope. He has a lot of help from very famous producers and his sampling can be random and break the tone. his rap is your average rap but a bit angrier, so nothing special. Last track made me wanna listen to the way better song by Sigma that sampled some of the bits. Overall, Overhyped. Get this guy to a therapist and stop giving him a microphone and a twitter account.

"If Kanye West was a horse, he'd have been put down by now" That was my attitude going into this album, and I was totally prepared to give it 1*. That said, the production of this album really picks up in the latter half, and there's some really good instrumentation and features throughout. With all of that in mind, Yeesuz gets 1 beautiful star, one more than it deserves. Having Justin Vernon do his thing over some real fucking cool electric guitar solos only to interrupt it by dribbling like a brain-dead fuckwit is a crime I cannot forgive. Fuck you Kanye, eat shit.

Can remember being quite impressed by previous missives by Kanye, so I looked back to check them out. And yes I was sort of impressed by them , impressed enough to award both of them a 2! it's just a shame that this load of twaddle didn't reach those dizzying heights. no redeeming features 1.

That was a little insight into the world of Kanye. Mad, egotistical, angry and rude.

On a positive note, I did find the arrangements of many of the songs intriguing and could appreciate the Punk/ Industrial Rap moniker given to this record. But there were many moments of things becoming jarring, such as the big single 'Bound 2', horrible. The other positive thing was the overt usage of auto tune, it was not subtle and probably used as a dig at other artists who feel they have to use it? I don't know. I shall end my list of positives there. Moving on to the lyrically side of things, for once I wss in a posttion to concentrate on them. I wished I hadn't. I just do not understand why someone feels the need to write such vile diatribe. The level of misogyny is breathtaking. I do wonder what his listeners choose to take away from an album such as this, especially if you are female. It does make me wonder about the the effect of the normalisation of such behaviours discussed on this record has on his young and impressionable fans, it must skew their worldview in some way. It must have some sort of effect, especially as in the news, our government is seeking to make non-fatal strangulation in porn illegal, which is just another form.of misogyny seeping into everyday life for the younger generations. Maybe to old Jeezy it is all just a joke, one I just don't get. It is possible he is a really nice bloke just making stuff to shock, but I'm not sure judging by what I've read and seen in the media over the years. Oh well, I may just be getting old and these behavours are becoming normal, sorry ladies. Stand up for yourselves and strangle the bastard back or something.... Move along to the next album please.

This album has interesting elements to it, including the production, which was kind of cool but halfway through Black Skinhead I’m realizing 1) his history completely messed up and 2) he’s a narcissist prick and has had to devolve into shock value to show his irrelevance in the modern rap world. So if I was using this album as an example of how rockstar‘s lifestyles become toxic and even potentially devolved in to madness, I could give this 5. But this is Kanye: fuck him.

Yeezus is less an album and more an obnoxious sonic tantrum — the sound of Kanye locking himself in a room full of industrial screeches, distorted basslines, and zero accountability. It’s like he dared the world to stop him mid-meltdown, and nobody did. The album trades melody for machinery, soul for static, and coherence for chaos. Every track stomps around like it’s reinventing music, but all it really does is scream “LOOK AT ME” through a megaphone duct-taped to a blender. Lyrically, it’s a car crash of arrogance, sexual frustration, and half-baked outrage, delivered with the smugness of a man who thinks yelling about croissants makes him deep. Any moments that might be profound — like the sampling of Strange Fruit on “Blood on the Leaves” — are drowned in tone-deaf bravado and jarring production choices. Yeezus wants to be radical art, but it ends up as performance narcissism: loud, abrasive, and utterly convinced of its own genius, despite being one of the most unpleasant listening experiences in modern music.

Even though I can't stand West, I managed to get through this record. Heavily overproduced (just look at the track table listing the writers/producers), this is some artificial, soulless junk that centers on a sociopath and egomaniac. Never will I understand the hype.

Fuck Kanye West's nazi ass. When this album dropped, I was blown away. Definitely an early adopter, none of my friends liked this one and I remember trying to convince them how good it was. Of course by now folks have come around, but this album was not well-received by the fans at the time. The production was so left-field and raw; a stark contrast to the highly polished discography before it. I will say at the time I felt that the lyrics and rapping were starting to decline in quality. It felt like at this point in his career, he was truly drinking his own Kool-Aid and shut out any outside influence, to the detriment of the lyrical quality (a trend that would continue downwards through Life of Pablo, Ye, JiK, etc). I'm not going to listen to this again and give him any streaming revenue (fractions of pennies though they are), but going off my last listen to this thing (6+ years ago), this was a very good album and contains a lot of interesting, unique material.

Not a Kanye so I was not looking forward to this album. His earlier music I could tolerate, but once a came to this album, I was just waiting for it to be over. I think his music definitely changed after the loss of his mother as well as his life.

The exact turning point when Kanye's mental illness overtook his musical ability and consumed him completely. An abrasive, often unlistenable descent into madness. The minimalistic production does him zero favours here, discarding all of his strengths only to emphasize his biggest weaknesses: abysmal lyrics and weak flow. Utter dog shit. Well, this was certainly an interesting time to get Yeezus considering that Kanye is going through his little X crash out but regardless of the kind of person he is, This album is terrible. I can certainly see the idea they were going with in the production, having Daft Punk produce a lot of these tracks, but it kinda gets so overkill that it makes the instrumentals annoying and directionless. But even if the instrumentals are bad, that can be forgiven since hip hop is a more lyric-driven genre right? Wrong! The lyrics here are also incredibly horrendous with Kanye clearly prioritizing wordplay over actually making the lyrics make sense. It's a shame i have to give this album a 1 considering The College Dropout was incredibly good but i have to do it. Best Song: I'm In It Worst Song: Bound 2

Znao sam si upaliti na yt neke njegove izjave i momente da me zabave umjesto south parka, ali mi je uvijek ostavilo gorak okus u ustima. Uspio je eto biti jedan od najplacenijih artista i osoba koju su svi htjeli imati u kolaboracijama (danas se to malo stisalo jer objavljuje svastike i ponasa se neuračunljivo), a i svi artisti koji ga hvale su defaultno namjesteni da kazu da je jedan od najvecih genija u muzici, bez obzira na sve, jer ka-ching! Meni je osobno sve sto sam od njega cuo u najmanju ruku stupidno i iritantno, i zbog muzike i njegove groteskne pojave. Yeezus je album posvecen sebi, svom liku i djelu, kao prikaz svojevrsne reinkarnacije isusa, a inovativni glazbeni momenti, ako ih i ima, me u ovom slucaju uopce ne zanimaju. Uz svu muku, htio sam ovaj album pustiti od pocetka do kraja, ali bi zauvijek zalio sto sam potrosio sat vremena svog zivota na njega. Sto god on napravio u glazbi, koji god (cak i meni dragi) artisti imali rijeci hvale za njega, koliko god mu produkcija moze biti na najvecem mogucem levelu s obzirom na lovu koju ima i s tehnologijom kojom raspolaze, pa cak i talent koji neki vide a drugi ne; njegova persona, stavovi i ponasanje ce mi uvijek zasjeniti ono sto je napravio do sad. That being said, ovaj album ne moze dobiti vise od nule. Odjebi kanye.

I’d like to attest right off the bat that Kanye West is a cunt. Nothing he has ever or will ever produce will detract in any way from what a cunt he is. Moving right along. I was curious to revisit this album because I hadn’t heard it in years. I remember thinking it was a masterpiece at the time. I can still see why I thought that and I can hear the artistry in every track. I can hear the obvious influence that this album has had in the years since. It’s impossible to ignore the trajectory that Kanye West has taken since then though and it puts a different complexion on some things: lines that I used to think were funny or sarcastic have curdled into something much harder to go along with. An artist is someone who tries to express their internal reality in a way that others can connect with. I think the album does that successfully. But Kanye’s internal reality is that of a total piece of shit so you don’t really want to hang out there for long.

I just don’t think Kanye is a good rapper, nor does he have anything overly interesting to say on this. Put that together with the deliberately abrasive as fuck ear-rape production, and it’s not a good time. ‘New Slaves’, ‘Blood On The Leaves’ and ‘Bound 2’ are about the only tracks that are kind of ok, or at least listenable, but it’s a low bar.

Not my jam…..at all. I like some hip hop but it is really hard for me to separate the man from the artist. And I can’t stand the man. I hadn't heard his music before, at least not that I remember. I gave this a listen and gave it an honest try. It just doesn't do it for me. It sounds like he's trying to be controversial and provocative in many tracks, and I get it, but it feels too ham-handed for me.

I'm not really surprised that this ends up in my 1-star-shitload-of-crap-dumpster, but I am surprised that there is actually an audience for this... This might be the worst thing I ever heard.

Oh my gosh what a pile of twaddle. There is no doubt that this man had talents, two major ones being that he can convince people to buy his music and also convince women to be his play things, but the musical talent is so misdirected in this album. I wish I could unhear. Also wish I could unsee the video with Kim K - on a bike, facing the wrong way but the wind is blowing her hair out of her face? That what a step too far in expecting me to suspend my disbelief.

It doesn't really sound like anything else I've ever heard, so I guess there's that? I do quite like some of the weird electronic noises throughout, but everything else that goes with it, rapping, lyrical content etc, is shit. I was going to give an extra star for production, but I realised I hated the content so much that I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Kanye West is a piece of shit, and a gay fish.
