Reviews (page 7 of 7)
This really shouldn't be here.
Irrelevant album. Er moet maar één album van Fatboy Slim hierin. 1.2
Awful
this sounds like the music that plays and cycles through while you spend an hour or 2 making your Sim
Bag of shite
I didn't like this one. Definitely not an essential album to listen to before you die, especially considereing there is another, much better Fatboy Slim album on the list. Completely lacks all the fun of that other album. There is a reason that one produced several big hit and this one didn't. Key tracks: Song for Lindy
Let me save you some time… Boom pa-pap pa pap “punk to funk” x 47 “Throw your hands in the air” x 14 “Michael Jackson, Tina Turner” Bip bip pap ba bip pa pap 1001 album worthy: bip pa pap “hell no” x10 - 68/126
This is the 93rd album I’m rating. I don’t know who this is but cool name. Adding to my Playlist - Nothing. Not Adding to my Playlist - Song for Lindy, Santa Cruz, Going out of my Head, The Weekend Starts Here, Everybody Needs a 303, Give the Po’ man a Break, 10th & Crenshaw, First Down, Punk to Funk, and The Sound of Milwaukee. All in all I liked 0/10 songs. I don’t like this type of electronic music. Never did.
not this mf again
This level of repetition is for the comfort of people out of their gourds on designer drugs. For the sober individual this is not so fun.
At the risk of sounding like the Old Man Yelling at Clouds... I really hate this shit.
This is the stuff that gets pre-loaded onto keyboards at Circuit City in 1996.
Terrible, every song is a 6 second snippet on repeat. I understand why this album was important and launched his career into commercials and movie soundtracks but good lord, this is not my scene.
p774. 1996. 1 star. More background noise for hipster bars :( Tedious, repetitive loops with no redeeming features. Not essential listening.
two Fatboy Slim albums in the 1001 you should listen to before you die, huh? really. really. hated. (⌐■_■)
I was too generous to the fat boy last time.
Pales in comparison to what he’d produce later
Habe ich als Jugendlicher auch nicht gut gefunden.
1/5
I almost wrote this one off completely, but then I really enjoyed Santa Cruz and a few others. I still don't think he deserves more than one album in the book though. You've Come A Long Way, Baby is great and representative enough of his work.
1008 albums... let's go with it!
This did not age well, very boring.
Boring.
I was originally writing a sarcastic review...... but will be nice and say this music was not for me when it came out. And it's still not music for me.
#38 Not of to a good start with Song for Lindy. This was just not my vibe. To many weird noises. The beats are nice, but the sounds just ruin it for me.
Drivel.
1/5
Terrible
Ich will diese Musik nie wieder hören
Less awful than the first one. At least he had the good taste to keep his mouth shut on this one.
couple decent songs but this sucked
They all sound the same: bad
I sure am not a Fatboy Slim fan. And while I understand why this album is here, I sure didn't enjoy it. Better Living Through Chemistry, whose cover was a trigger to me, is definitely different from other electronic albums, whether now in 2024 or then in 1996. But god was it boring and repetitive to my poor ears. At times, it felt otherworldly and incorporated jazz and I just. Couldn't care less.
Go away.
Two EDM albums in a row? This list must hate me. Started ok but after what felt like an hour I was only 3 tracks in and track 4 was annoying as hell and they never got better again. Repetition is not music.
Going Out of My Head Everybody Needs a 303
Super weird, not my thing at all.
Consistently selecting the wrong album
# 278 : Repetitive shite, just beats and loops, Terrible music and terrible album choice. May god have mercy on the person that decided to make this an album to hear before you die.
I remember Fatboy Slim as more fun. This sounded like a repetitive demo song on an old keyboard.
Recognized the name but not what I thought it was going to be. Like an unexciting version of Prodigy.
Too repetitive - and I don’t live through chemistry. I need some more lyrics to reel me in. When the guitar or the piano jumps in, I enjoy the songs on here a little more. But I could never put this record on again
Bunch of noise
Where is the music?
Two things: these songs are way too long and way too repetitive, and none of them are as good as Weapon of Choice and Praise You.
Terrible
Apple Music classifies this as Alternative which is a big fatboy lie. This is electronic music and I do not like it.
This was a slog to get through. Boring and repetitive.
? Why would anyone listen to this on purpose?
With so much great music out there I would never waste my time on this. But I did try.
1.5
Not gna rate this one cuz it’s out of my wheelhouse - really not my type of music. Didn’t really fuck with it, but I can see how other blokes might. Big shrug from me - Boring asf
I like some of the smash hits off of "You've Come a Long Way, Baby" as much as the next guy, but this album is a stinker. Talk about plain, muzak-esque electronic music. This album is souless, void of unique elements, and to top it off way too long. I will not be listening to this again. 1/5.
???????????????????????????
Couldn’t get this album so listened to other FBS stuff - meh other than top 5
not my cup of tea..sorry
Maybe I'm weird, but I just don't like Fatboy Slim.
Fatboy Slim and his sirens can go fuck themselves.
When I thought I was warming to electronica, Fatboy Slim made me return to my senses. Repetitive beyond belief, utter rubbish.
Sometimes this type of electro/sampling works for me. Most of the time it doesn't. Moby, and Mylo, are good examples of this. "Going Out of My Head" was the only track on this album that did anything for me at all. I think that this album will appeal to people who like to get high and look at flashing lights as well as people with short attention spans who have no concept for chord progressions or song development. Yes, that was me calling the 4 and 5-star voters a bunch of simpletons.
far too repetitive. not a fan of this style
I'm 4 electronic albums in (out of 26 total so far) and am quite tired of them. Repetitive. Boring. Minimal thought, not engaging. Doesn't sound good. A 10 second clip in a movie, sure, but 71 minutes straight absolutely not. Speaking of, Wikipedia states the UK version is 58 minutes and excludes the two bonus tracks. Making it longer is just cruelty.
I guess for some people in some context in 1996 it made some sense
Not the fat boy slim you would see Christopher walker dancing to but still fat boy slim. This was pretty repetitive and not too interesting over all. I guess if you’re into sampling and electronic music this may be for you but it is not for me. 2.6/10
Suck
My audible groan when I saw today's album artist very literally scared my poor dog. I'd rather continue to listen to her not-so-silent farts of varying pitch than be subjected to *another* (jfc wasn't 1 enough) bullshit album by Fatboy Slim. Awful. -- ...admittedly that was all written before i listened to a note of this so in the spirit of an open mind... -- Yup - after 2 tracks it's probably the same - I like electronic music quite a bit. BUT. Not repetitive drill-a-fake-kick-drum-through-your-head with the same pattern for 16 (or more!) bars, then ooooh! change it up a little bit ... here's the drop ... 16 more bars with an added cool snare ... ooo add an EQ filter here to create the cool swirly-phasing sensation zzzzz Any random 20 second sampling of this album sounds fine and yet that is the big joke. It's a huge fake-out. idk maybe I'm being intentionally sarcastic and avoiding the aspect that this was one of the first to loop to such effect. Was he? If so does it even matter? I don't care or like it enough to look it up - in the end for me this is terribly-droning-repetitive-music-on-autopilot. Just struck me - this album is more akin or suite to being a user's manual / sound palette on: "these are some cool things you *can* do with your music!" Hmmm...now if this had been marketed as such - e.g. given away as a freebie with the latest Akai controller or Ableton version - that would be a cool/valuable resourse. As a commercial album to purchase? GTFO. Musicians: listen and try all of these admittedly neat tricks and sounds and use like...*THREE*... interspersed within actually interesting music. 2/10 1 star.
I. Hate. Techno.
not my fav
2/10
Didn't get anything from this. Odd, I thought I would like it more
random sound, no lyrics
I dunno, this album just feels pretty "basic" to me. Not my thing so I won't judge too harshly. It seems like goofy fun spring break music for white college kids who like to drink beer. Probably not a fair comparison but given the music coming out around this time from Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Kruder + Dorfmeister, Third Eye Foundation, or Nightmares on Wax this just feels really Half-assed.
horrível
Not a fan.
Feels like being stuck inside a washing machine.
Boring ! Wenigstens erscheint vorm inneren Auge eine Montage mit Szenen aus romcoms feat. Cameron Diaz
