Parallel Lines by Blondie stands as an intriguing blend of artistry and pop sensibility. This album is a testament to the band's ability to seamlessly intertwine the sexy and the brainy with a musical landscape heavy influenced by the 60s and adorned with elements of 70s art rock and even prog at times. However, the album feels disjointed, with individual songs shining brightly but failing to coalesce into a cohesive whole. Each track seems to exist in its own sonic universe, showcasing the band's diverse influences and their willingness to experiment. The album, while not harmonious, is a celebration of Blondie's influences, marked by their daring spirit to push musical boundaries. Stand out are household tracks One Way Or Another and Heart of Glass.

Although delightfully eery and at times heartfelt this album is ultimately tedious and at time sound pretentious. Highlights: Novocaine for the soul, Walking to Susan house, Your lucky day in hell.
Absolutely beautiful, Suzzane just fills me with longing and melancholy it's crazy
Classic guitar riff rock&roll silly at times and sometimes fun. Does nothing special really and drags in places. Highlights: Gimme Your Lovin, Sharp dressed man and Legs
I don't know what I expected but it wasn't sea shanties. But the shiver me timbers so all good there. it gets darker soundwise and it's full of angst which is what i imagined I would find. Pretty good album
Incredible funk fusion album. There are times when it gets so full on that it sound messy, a little too self-indulgent. But the musicianship is great and it rock and it funks. Highlights One Nation Under a Grove Promentalshitbackwashpsycho enema squad.
Wow this is really nice, perhaps not ground breaking but full of characer, emotion and groove. I am rounding uo to 4
Classic! The title song adds a full star on its own. I feel however that there is no single album by Marvin Gaye that reaches far enough. He has so many incredible songs that a compilation would almost reach perfection exept it would feel disjointed. Anyway, as it is this is great album and wonderful concept.
I remember liking this album when it came out. It seemed like the most cohesive and sophisticated album by the band. It seemed to marry their style with the grunge and alternative scene more than their previous albums. Even had little hints at nu metal. But listening to it now it feels extremely silly and incredibly cheesy. No wonder I listened to it heavily for a while and then forgot it for 23 years while Blood Sugar Sex magic and The Uplift Mofo Plan, however rarely, continue to reach my ears.
The Doors is one of the greatest bands of all time and although this is one is not one of their best albums it is still better than most.
Not my cup ot tea but I understand the appeal. Great production and some of the songs are genuinely nice. He sounds like a discount Michael Jackson but not unpleasant.
No need to make an effort to listen. This is one of the best albums ever made and I have been listening to it for more than 30 years
I used to like Suede, I don't know why, man was this boring.
Beautiful and soothing. Their voices dig deep into you to the point of feeling spiritual. My ear isn't accustomed to this style and I find it very repetitive. I do not feel equipped to make a proper judgement so I'll give the album a 3. I do not see myself listening to this very often.
It is surprising how old it sounds. It has not aged particularly well, but you can still hear the sheer brilliance of its pop appeal and its experimentation.
Isaac Hayes is a genious, this album is so soulful and dripping with sexappeal.
Absolutely exceptional. Beautiful, trippy, emotional and so very tightly realized without loosing its raw energy.
Quite nice but nothing special
Good energy but ultimately repetitive and uninteresting. Alright, if you like 90s rap but with annoying voices.
Classic, great solid songs.
Funky as hell, blaxplotation at it's best. Pusherman and Superfly are two of my favourite tracks of all time.
What a weird record. Tight Rope and Come Alive are wonderful tracks for example, but those are mixed in some generic sounding ones like Locked Inside. Overall, however, it is a well crafted album, creative and with wonderful performances.
Not their best work but great album by this classic band. Kashmir alone makes it worth it.
a very competent effort of funky rock and roll.
Fantastic rhythms full of flavour, great storytelling too. Great album
Some how I have gone through life without listening to Roxy Music until now. I would regret not having had them being part of me except I now have an exciting your ey ahead of me.
Very nice but it sounds like a single neverending song so it gets a little tedious
Even the boring bits are fun.
Every song in this album compels you... To skip it. It starts OK but by song 3 it is painful, each song is 4 minutes too long, only Rebellion is fine in its entirety. I am giving it two stars because songs in isolation could be bearable and here and there there are some interesting sections (in Power Out, Kettle and wake up) but I would rather pay thousands in quarters playing a Mortal Kombat clone while on fire than listen to the whole album again.
This was a weird one for me, at first I thought "alright" but felt unlikely to listen to it again. And decided it deserves two stars specially compared to the outstanding Moon Safari. But as it went in it grew on me, it started to feel like a 3. A solid 3 by the time Ghost Song came along, reminiscent of Mike Oldfield in general a nice homage to 70s space rock but in keeping with Air's brand of trip-hop. However, a couple of tracks after it started to feel like a 4 stars album, not because any individual song brilliance but because of the compound experience, now I knew I would definitely be back for that haunting but beautiful atmosphere. I wasn't too keen on the title track at the end due to the speaking part but didn't feel too out of place and when it ended I was yearning for more feeling the album was too short. So definitely a 4.
So evocative and beautifully ethereal. Strange intriguing melodies and intricate harmonies. Pretty amazing although you need to be in the mood.
In theo to y I should love this album and Peter Gabriel, I love progressive music, I love art rock, and I like post punk, of which this album has a hint, but I just didn't enjoy it. And I have a hard time like Peter Gabriel in general. I can appreciate the experimentation and some of the textures created are very interesting but it is never satisfying in fact it's kind of boring and at times even cringe. It is strange, if I approach it rationally I think his music is alright, but if I approach it emotionally I feel it lacks. Perhaps it's the quality of his voice and the tone of the instrumentation. I can't pinpoint what it is but I listened to the whole album 3 times and 3 times I got excited by what I heard and looked to see what song it was and it turned out to be a Spotify suggestion after the album had finished. Oh well...
Nice example of grunge but nothing special. Black Hole Sun is pretty self indulgent which makes it a stand out track.
Absolute masterpiece
Their best album, this the formula they were working towards since the stat and simply what they have repeated since.
Got this the day of Ozzy 's death. RIP
Cool background music but absolutely tedious to actually listening to.
So much new wave in this list. These guys are pretty good though
The first half deserves 5 stars but the second 3, so here, have 4
Almost every song is intriguing but they all feel undercooked
Every few years when I listen to them again I get surprised at realising how bizarre they are
Love the music but Bjork's vocals despite her beautiful voice are so tedious and some times even laughable
Materpiece
Silly fun
How can this be cool and annoying at the same time?
