Reviews (page 3 of 8)
No opinion of Cassavetes, high opinion of Le Tigre.
I feel like I should've heard this before, but missed it along the way. It was a really enjable listen. I like the raw punk feel. Liked Songs Added: My My Metrocard Les And Ray
Dig it! High speed, crunchy guitars, awesome melodies, funny. A little bit B52s, a little bit Luscious Jackson.
This shit has so much charm they couldn’t possibly make me hate it
Häftigt! Lite Bangels, lite Rio Grrrrl, lite sugarcubes, lite joan jett. Men framförallt kompetent slamrig post punk i den poppiga skolan. Fyra
The comments on this album, the top ones at least, are wild. This is good, quite diverse and with lyrics that are quite specific to them, and an interesting blend of genres. Sure, I don't love everything, but they achieved what they set out do, and to me that is worth points. This is important and they aren't that many "punk" girl band out there, and it is more legitimate than the 15000 rock album by dudes past their prime. Chill.
Grrrrl
This blew me away, what an awesome find. One of my favorites on the generator so far.
Am I cool enough to listen to this album? I hope I’m cool enough to listen to this album.
Oh this was fun! I forgot about Le Tigre, thanks for reminding me,
Really great, but some of the songs didn’t hit.
good but surprisingly lacking in energy (especially compared to bikini kill)
Le Tigre, fronted by Kathleen Hanna of Bikini Kill merges an early '90s riot grrl/punk sound into alt-rock and electronic, ending as a kind of energetic, feminist dance punk. Perhaps more impressively, Le Tigre managed to do this without sacrificing the grit and legitimacy of earlier riot grrl. As such, Le Tigre is a joy to listen to. As catchy and infectious as they are righteously angry: there is an alternate universe in which this served as the template for punk moving into the 2000's. The electronic inspiration is really well-executed, reminding me of the sound that bands like Yeah Yeah Yeahs and !!! would fall into later. Kathleen Hanna's vocals manage to shoot straight to the front of the mix no matter what's happening. She has way more vocal power than you may assume. And these songs are all pretty great. Great writing, in your face commentary, and sardonic humor run as a throughline here. And just when you start to think you've had enough barnburners, they take the sound somewhere more eclectic on songs like Friendship Station and Dude Yr So Crazy!! and keep it fresh. I also appreciate any album that celebrates queerness this boldly. This album is exciting and driving from front to end and it serves as a great continuation of the Riot Grrl sound.
Banger
very punky, dancey rock music by gals, mainly for gals. listening to it, i'm getting heavy 1960s go-go dancing vibes here. this is an album for all you feminine rebels out there, edgy and tinny in sound and full of commentary relevant to what many young women back then thought about. i REALLY like the drum machine usage in this album. gives it a lot of character. a hidden gem in the punk rock repertoire, especially if you're wanting something that's both engaging and conscious.
Dance and pop influenced lo-fi punk album. I liked it when the songs leaned into the guitar riffs, but there were a few too many slower tracks that I didn't enjoy as much. Deceptacon, Let's Run and My My Metrocard were highlights.
I've had a bit of Riot Grrrl stuff and been a bit underwhelmed but this is a lot more melodic and does some great crossover of indie-punk with more electronic stuff, motorik beats and loops. I really enjoyed it and kept it on rotation all week. It doesn't feel like something from 1999 though, the production, cover art and overall vibe is very late-80s to me. So maybe it's slightly less groundbreaking than I'd initially assumed but no less fun to listen to.
Perfect lo-fi production, has an almost trip-hop feel at times, feels like it should soundtrack some kind of SOV movie. Love it
basically epicsauce as hell ... need i say more?
J'étais pas très attentive mais ça m'a semblé sympa, des musicalités variées j'ai eu l'impression
The opening two tracks are some of the most blistering, in-yr-face, yet still danceable punk cuts around and will forever have a place in my heart. From there, it becomes a little bit more mixed. There’s some great riffs (“The the Empty”) and sampling (“Friendship Station”) but I was equally pleased that they blew up “Phanta” and got me out early. Also, a sentimental listen less than two months before the NYC Metrocard is disappearing forever!
When I saw the cover I thought I would have mixed feelings. I can usually take or leave this type of stuff. But then I hit play. The attitude from all the members is palatable. This listener was filled with emotion throughout and was reminded (once again) that sometimes the best thing you can do in this life is not take it so seriously. Play a simple riff, sample some old audio, and sing about your metro card. Life is too short, man!!!
I don't know how influential it was but it was fun
Very unique and ahead of it's time, being these short snippets with unexpected sounds, a little offbeat vocals and instrumentation. Creates a cool sound for the album and doesn't overstay it's welcome
Interesting to see some Riot Grrrl representation on the list. Good pick, even if it's weird that this was picked over any Bikini Kill album. It has a really good DIY sense to it with all of the really cheap electronic sounds, along with somehow still managing to be pretty dancey. Also I love the singer's vocals, really fun along with the pretty satirical and goofy lyricism of the album.
I love this record of early electroclash and poppy songs Kathleen Hanna should have been bigger.
I've been waiting 979 albums for this, and finally album #980 did not disappoint. El Tigre's debut and self-titled album is fun, high energy, dance punk music. I absolutely love how unapologetically feminist this album is--and they make it sound so, so good. And anyway, who doesn't love a diss track about Rudy Guiliani?
Okay, this album was a damn GEM. It's right in the intersection of where I like my punk: a bit dance-y, a bit grunge-y, a bit riot girl-y. They tap into that lo-fi punk quality without making it unpleasant to listen to -- a balance that punk bands often fail to meet. This album also definitely borders on the hipster movement, and you can hear hints of that here and there in the music. Ultimately on this album, Le Tigre actually reminded me a fair bit of my beloved Yeah Yeah Yeahs! I am glad that this album popped up on here! Probably a 3.5 for me, but easily worth the rounding up!
I dunno, this is a weird one. Like I like it and don't like it simultaneously? I don't know if I'd ever listen to it again but it's kind of catchy at the same time. The guitars sound good. The vocals can be grating. But there's something in there that kind of works? I think it's honestly growing on me with pretty much every track.
Cool album with a punky attitude. With there were even more squealing and uptempo songs like the opener and The the Empty
It felt like an evolved B-52s. I liked the energy and rawness. I thought it was interesting and would listen again.
Sharp and fuzzy! This album is frenetic, and why wouldn't it be when there's so much to say in so little time?
Aika hauska levy (vaikkakin poliittinen). nautin tästä menosta ja kämäsynista.
This is a fun record! Most tracks have a fun beat and an interesting melody. There were also some unusual tracks included, which made the record interesting to listen to. Favourite Track(s): My My Metrocard, The The Empty, Let's Run Least Favourite Track(s): Phanta, Dude Yr So Crazy
I've never really listened to them but I really enjoyed it. Different sound.
Słuchając czułem się trochę zagubiony, muzyka jest gdzieś pomiędzy dziwną a ciekawą, ma swój urok
Super fun album. Great vibe, and enjoyable listen.
I really liked this and I can see the bands that it inspired
They came in super hot with a huge Peter Hookesque bassline on the first track, then kind of settled down into some fun and kooky stuff. 4th star for getting in super early on making fun of Rudy Giuliani.
Kathleen Hanna is a legend. I've rewatched her amazing monologue about how she got blackout drunk in Kurt Cobain's apartment, and woke up to find that she had graffitied "Kurt smells like Teen Spirit" on his wall. And how that song, and its success, seemed to follow her around during some of her less successful moments, working as a stripper, while trying to get her band "Bikini Kill" off the ground. She's a brilliantly funny and compelling storyteller. But she's more than that. She's also a proper punk legend, essentially starting the "riot grrrl" movement with Bikini Kill. Le Tigre sound a lot different to Bikini Kill. They're bright, quirky, and very melodic electropop. But that same punk attitude, ethos and sardonic humour persists throughout the more approachable Le Tigre. This is where punk meets electropop. Everything is very politically charged, with expected themes of feminism throughout, but it's all masked in high energy, positive melodies. I'm actually surprised that this album came out in 1999. It sounds like it came straight from that 2005-2010 period, where this genre of indie electronica was so prevalent. Did Le Tigre lay the groundwork for the indie electropop movement of the early 2000s? I'm reminded of bands like CSS, MGMT, Hot Chip. Even LCD Soundsystem and The Rapture (although thematically they're a bit different). All that aside, this is a fantastic album. Brilliantly melodic, infinitely listenable, with high party energy. Some really clever loop sampling and lo-fi use of electronic beats, but with a rough punk edge to everything. At times, they sound a lot like the B52s, with "shouty" choruses and percussive guitars mixing with the electronica. And then there's Hanna's fantastic voice pushing the energy to another level. There's lots of fantastic songs on here, but I have to mention the obvious: Deceptacon. This song wasn't just my introduction to Le Tigre, it was my introduction to The Punk Singer herself, Kathleen Hanna. The simple, raw, distorted guitar riff drives, while the beats and synth groove, with some handclaps thrown in for good measure. But Hanna's voice takes off. It's like she doesn't take a breath for the whole song, voice switching between singing and screaming with ease - she brings a fevered energy to this song that I think is hard to match or be bettered by anything else. Big words. But it's a big song, one of the all-time greats.
Maybe not a 4, but better than the Kinks and I have that a 3
Gender politics and thought experiments that you can dance to!
3.5
Favorite tracks: Deceptacon, Friendship Station, Hot Topic Really liked this! Great punk start with the first few tracks and just when I started to get a little bored and it felt a little same-y I got hit with Friendship Station and it felt like a completely different album in the back half. Will definitely revisit! (Except for The The Empty, which I really could not get behind)
This was unique. An all-female cast throwing it down with their influences ranging from 60's girl groups to 80's new wave. The chemistry and personalities clashing make this all the more memorable. It's fun, catchy, with a punk twist. Solid record. Top 4: Deceptacon, Hot Topic, Phanta, My My Metrocard, and Friendship Station no bad songs 3.50-3.75/5
Enjoyable punkish album; I'm finding that I'm more critical/stingy with stars when reviewing music albums then I am when reviewing books
Awesome
Better than I was expecting, cool lo-fi pop with good melodies.
I don't often mention more bands in a single bands review. It is distasteful as it "compares" and that is a bad thing. In my view a band must stand on its own merits and be "rated" as such. However it is safe here to say that this band, like several of my favorites through time, earns my endearment because they are "fun!" Simple, yes, but so much joy to listen to! The other band? The White Stripes. A lot of similarities here, although Le Tigre is probably a tad more complex, they are also a tad more silly. Both groups are in my nest of little joy eggs that I can pop in and raise my spirits with. I think also in this case "you will get to know what I mean by listening." It will be a fun ride at the very least!
Maybe if I heard them first I’d like them instead of X-Ray Spex… but I didn’t. And they’re not as good. Almost, but not quite.
Really surprised by this, went in expecting it to be a bit one note, but pretty much all the songs here are really distinctive, really fun pop songs. Will definitely revisit. 4 Stars.
I liked this album a lot. Great vibe and some really fun samples.
Doesn’t waste time being sharp, loud, and fed up. Walks the line between protest and party. Jittery, dance-punk. Spins: 2 Playlist Additions: - Deceptacon - Hot Topic - Phanta - Eau d'bedroom Dancing
A crazy, fun, wild, timeless album... Peak Electropunk from the off with the killer "Deceptacon" and it's all uphill from there. and who took the bomp from the bompalompalomp?
Feminist, turn-of-the-millennium, and B52s-esque. Count me in.
Enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. 8/10 not usually what I go in for but had an absolute blast. Could well relisten a while later 05/09/25
Get in here riot grrrls! This was a good, fun listen. Deceptacon is one I’ve heard plenty of times before and a standout but my favorite Eau d’bedroom Dancing. Solid 4.
Strong enjoy! Upbeat surf rock-punk-dance... I'm probably missing some descriptors, but this kicked some major buttocks!
Listened Before? N What an interesting and fun record! Never heard of them before but this album is awesome. Pretty much a punk record at heart, the vocals are striking and the lyrics are sharp. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Deceptacon
Genre punk. Paar goede nummers. 1 opgeslagen in spotifylijst.
Riot grrl album, strong bass lines, I like it 72/100
A la B 52’s
Girl punk / grungy vibe
Oh fuck yeah!! I've actually heard these guys before! I'm excited for this one.
when i read the endless screeds posted about the beatles or the rolling stones or led zeppelin i simply dont get it. the music is alright, i dont hate it, but they put out some incredibly samey music. im always surprised to read the really heartfelt and genuine responses to these classic 60s,70s rock albums, but im often left feeling the same way; there are a couple good songs, but the rest is quite one note. so when i see similar criticism levelled at an album like this, i can only realise that we were born in different generations and theres nothing that can change that. this album is fun, varied, energetic, so creative and lively. i will endeavour to spend less time reading negative reviews for albums that i enjoy
i had never heard of this band before but I was very pleasantly surprised, really great album, just the right length too. you can tell they were having fun in the studio, which matters a lot since that energy gets passed on to the listener. will be listening again
This was a nice surprise. Don't judge a book (or in this case: album) by its cover. It's a hodgepodge of so many genres and yet, it all fits perfectly together in a way that one can't explain.
Nice punk pop
cupcake emoji
I have a soft spot for feminist Punk Rock ladies shouting in my ear with just the right mix of casual, unimpressed, and latently pissed-off attitude. Apart from that, the aesthetics of the album are difficult to put into words. We have everything from shitty guitar riffs to retro samples to a pure beat track which I can only categorize as "unusual". Most of it sounds like it was played on a 60s radio and recorded back on tape, but in a good way.
Deceptacon is the shit!
This album was ahead of its time for the late ’90s. I genuinely believe it helped pave the way for the electroclash movement and the indie rock surge of the early 2000s. I can’t think of any other bands from that era who managed to strike a unique balance between electro, dance vibes, and punk energy. As for its relevance today, I think it will always hold its place as an influential album in underground music history. That said, for me personally, the album has about three really strong standout tracks, and the rest feel pretty average or even a bit mediocre.
Deceptacon - 9.5 Hot Topic - 8 What's yr take on cassavetes - 7 The the empty - 9 Phanta - 7 Eau d bedroom dancing - 7 Lets run - 8 My my metro card - 7 Friendship staiton - 9 Slideshow at free uni - 8 Dude yr so crazy - 8 Les and ray - 7 79/100
Awesome!
Fun ecentric rock
I put this on when I went for a run this morning. Electronic drums started, weak toned garage style guitars and bass joined in. Random girl shouts and a whole lot of attitude (with random sound effects in for good measure). I got what they were going for. I could have said I'd heard it all before. Yet, four or five tracks before the end, the albums became more sophisticated. It sounded like something that would go well on a soundtrack to a cool movie. Hell! I'll say it, I felt cool listening to it. This carried on for a few songs before a back to basics closer. Inconsistent throughout, but it was a nice listen. 4 Stars.
It can get a little prototype-y, the songs like to get into a timeloop of repeating themselves over and over until the end a lot of the time, but overall this must be one of the most mid-2000s albums to have come out in a year starting with 19 It sounds like it paved a lot of paths for music to come, and those paths are also the road that runs alongside "right-up-my alley" so thank you for that
Deceptacon is on my running playlist and always gets me pumped up - and if you could see me wheezing round my local park, you’d know that’s no mean feat. This whole album is a fun shot in the arm - energetic and catchy with a bit of righteous anger thrown in for an extra kick.
Really enjoyable and energetic
"Le Tigre" is the debut album by American music trio Le Tigre. Dance-punk, riot grrl and new wave are the Wiki-listed genres. A strange combination but yes. The album was produced by Chris Stamey and the band. The music "combined pop music with the band's feminist and political lyrics" and spans 1960's, pop, punk rock and lo-fi new wave. The bandmembers included Kathleen Hanna (lead and backing vocals, guitar, bass, drum machine, sampler), Johanna Fateman (lead and backing vocals, guitar, keyboards), Sadie Benning (backing vocals, guitar) and JD Samson (lead baking vocals, trumpet). The album received positive reviews. "Deceptacon" opens the album with tone-downed guitar and bass melody and a dance beat enhanced with handclaps. An underlying synth. Hanna is screaming. But, a very catchy song about the decline in meaningful lyrics in songs.. The lone single "Hot Topic" sounds like a 60's pop-new wave fusion. The bubblegum lead and backing vocals, very girly, with a dance beat and fuzz guitar. They list a bunch of people who inspired them. Johanna Fateman does the talking in the interestingly-titled "What's Yr Take on Cassavetes." An electronic beat and fuzz guitar. They use the entire song to describe filmmaker John Cassavetes, both good and bad. In "My My Metrocard," the band takes aim at New York mayor Rudy Giuliani and his policies. Oh, if they only knew what he would go on to do in the future. A nice organ melody and the continued 60's-sounding theme. Bells ringing open the closer "Les and Ray." A beat and synth that mimic a roller rink sound. Hanna singing and gives her best vocal performance. She's escaping by listening to her neighbor's music. This album has catchy songs and is a lot of fun. There are still some feminist and political lyrics but not nearly as intense as Kathleen Hanna's former band, Bikini Kill. They fuse or more less combine 60's Shangri-la girly vocals, surf rock bass and guitar, 80's synth-new wave melodies and even a punk edge. There's retro and very much energetic vibes throughout the album. Not a dull song. This is a very good album that mostly everyone should like to some extent.
A bit self-indulgent, but artsy fartsy pop punk will always get me
Bell'album, non mi aspettavo sto punk bello allegro
Listened May 2024. Really fun, accessible, chaotic riot grrl pop. Deceptacon is the obvious classic but the whole album is a blast.
Girl punk fucks.
4 out of 5. Some gems, some songs that were to me only felt ok.
This was a fun, modernized homage to early punk; simple beats/rhythms.
While the vocals can be at times jarring (Deceptacon) and at others shrill AF (The The Empty), the songs themselves are interesting and make for a solid pop-punk-rock album. I had no problem listening to this end to end and will definitely come back again. For me this is a solid 4. Opening guitar tones of Deceptacon remind of Joy Division meets Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Vocals are a bit jarring, but the song itself is pretty fun IMO. Hot Topic flips into something that sounds familiar, but I can't put my finger on. The The Empty is a fun little bopper. I mean the vocals are shrill AF, but its a fun dance punk track. Really dig the toned down Eau D'Bedroom Dancing; feels sort of like a Japanese Breakfast song. Dude Yr So Crazy!! is a late album standout. Love the effortlessly cool instrumental.
Coole vrouwenpunk
I have this album on CD in my car and its pretty sick to be honest. I only bought it because I knew about the first song but the entire album is nice
Забавно. По крайней мере заинтересовало. Переслушаю.
Best Song: Deceptacon I didn't hate this, I didn't love this. It was just kinda, "meh." It breaks no real ground and most the songs are forgettable. I originally was going to give it a 3 but the Deceeptacon song was good enough to push it to 4.
Excellent. Sounds a lot like X-ray specs, but also clearly influenced Amyl and the Sniffers.
The evolutionary midpoint between 80s synthpop and the incoming waves of indie sleaze. Surprisingly good and definitely unique
Deceptacon is a really strong opener, and to be honest this album really doesn't dip after that. Really fun, infectious energy, I imagine this was brilliant live.
The The Empty!! Need to have energy to listen to this but it also gives energy. I’m dancin along Feelin annoyed? Just tap into that punk rage deep down, it’ll start to sound good.
Maybe this album caught me on an off day, but I find myself at a surprising lack of things I wanna say about this album. It's not that I didn't like it; for sure, it's miles, leaps and **bounds** better than "I'm With Her", the song I'm sure way too many people first discovered this group through. But I'unno, something about it and the state of mind I was in today kinda caused it to bounce off of me. And I wanna give nothing in these reviews/babbles but my honest reaction to these things, so... Like, yeah, I'unno. It's good, it's fine. On one side, you got stuff that reminded me of Bikini Kill, and I hadda look up "Oh, no, duh, they have the same frontwoman." I like what I've heard from Bikini Kill (aka just "Rebel Girl"), so on that front... Yeah. I mean, I'm surprised hearing those screamed "riot grrrl" vocals didn't bother me as much as I could imagine they would. They're kind of endearing, honestly — not to talk down to and/or underplay Kathleen or any of the other vocalists, I mean, but y'know. Then you have the electropunk side of the equation, and it's also fine. Good stuff, but not in the way I have any specific to say about it. It's... Y'know. Uh, and as for anything else I wanna say about this thing... Well, good they were ahead of the curb on shitting on Rudy Guilliani. Screw that guy,am I right? And that's about all I'm able to pull out about this album, shy of taking another day to give this thing a second listen (and being as behind as I currently am, I'd rather not with **any** album, y'know?). Which does bum me out, given what favorites I imagine this band is in the whole "feminist punk" circle, if that specifically exists. I mean, there has to be a reason why "I'm With Her" had as many people stupefied as it did, and certainly, after hearing this, it's a bit clearer... But yeah. Not one that really inspired me the day I heard it, although still a good one regardless.
Groovy. 4.5 bumped down to 4.
I’m at a 4. Unique as hell for 1999, I’ll say that. This album feels innovative right off the top, in that it’s just that different from any of its contemporaries. In a lot of ways, this album feels like a time-shifted anomaly, one that does eventually stabilize itself as it goes through its 32 minute runtime, but an anomaly nonetheless. It’s a pretty fun anomaly though. Honestly, I can’t really think of a good description for how this album sounds; the best thing I have is “the Go-Gos on a little bit of acid”, but that sort of undermines the amount of genres this thing kind of tackles – there’s some Dead Kennedys energy here, little bit of plunderphonics, some 60s-inspired production that sometimes hits on both a Sgt. Pepper’s vibe & a Velvet Underground track at the same time. However, if you listen to the songs themselves, instrumentally, it’s just consistently a bit off-kilter; the actual instruments feel like a blend of MIDI & real stuff, with samples thrown in at lower bitrates to accentuate how slightly off it is, and ultimately, for 1999, it’s just really inspired production that’s intoxicatingly strange. To my ears, it’s more reminiscent of how people perceive 1999 through a Y2K aesthetic in modern times, which makes it feel ahead of the curve & yet totally thematically fitting. Like I said though, this does stabilize itself – the later tracks of this album don’t carry the same weird energy as the first half does, but they’re still fine regardless. I do wish the album ended on a higher note than “Les & Ray”, but there’s no shame in having a kind of tribute track close out any album. Genuinely, I’m just kind of surprised that this is from 1999, and I’m more surprised I haven’t heard of Le Tigre until now. This isn’t quite up my alley, but I think it’s still cool as hell. It’s a 4 for me, and I’m glad it’s on the list. P.S.: I need Hayley Williams to cover “Let’s Run” immediately. Also, huge fan of that “Fuck Guiliani” line on “My My Metrocard”.
Fun political fem punk. Listening to the whole album at once got me tired fast. They sound interesting, but songs are very alike and quite grating to the ear, which, yeah, fits the message alright. I think I'm going to enjoy Le Tigre way more one song at a time in a playlist (Deceptacon, Eau D'Bedroom Dancing and Hot Topic go in there for sure). Slideshow At Free University genuinely made me laugh. Interestingly, they may be an inspiration for some modern groups I enjoy.
Very fun.
Didn't think I was going to like this one, but it grew on me. Sounds like a group of (musically talented) friends having fun in the studio. Lo-fi and eclectic. I dig it.
I had heard of Kathleen Hanna and Bikini Kill but am much less familiar with LeTigre. The album had more call-and-response than I had expected. Fall Out Boy owes a debt to LeTigre for the spelling of "Yr" on song titles. Would I listen to this again? Probably not intentionally, so this album falls in with some of the albums on this list. I enjoy them, liked hearing them but have no idea when I would listen to them again. So, does the album get 4-5 stars even though there isn't a great chance I listen again? This seems like a really influential album and the VERY overt politicalness of the lyrics has been seen often in punk/rock, but not as often performed by women and in this form. I will have to give this album four stars even if I am not necessarily going to listen to it frequently. Songs I liked most were: Deceptacon Phanta Eau d'Bedroom Dancing My My Metrocard Slideshow at Free University Les and Ray
YES!
8/10. Feminist punk rage! This is awesome!!! :)
I generally enjoyed this, full of energy, witty and provocative without being preachy. The music was pretty basic, but that was part of the appeal. It felt like somewhere between a 3 and a 4, but I'm going with a 4 as the first track was dope.
Groundbreaking record with a bunch of great songs to jam to any day. Indie production with amazing sounds. Recommended.
Well this is fun
Not at all what I was expecting! I actually knew a few of these songs which was super exciting. I've heard Deceptacon a load on tv and never knew the name! Good stuff 4 ⭐️
Woo!! What a fun, quick album! Love!
Raw, unfiltered and wild. I dig this a lot. The vocals and lyrics, combined with the rough-edged music is a great collaboration. The moments of experimental nature mixed with punk is a nice eclectic mood. This is a dope record.
That was a REALLY cool experimental album!! 7/10
4 stars. What a fun piece of lo-fi electric feminist punk! It is quite unique and listenable. “Deceptacon” demands repeats. It’s brief and not perfect, with some tracks being less memorable, but a fresh addition to a list full of bland and forgettable ancient duds.
Maybe valley girl punk-lite?
Did not know this existed. The Go-Gos on steroids/acid. Liked it a lot.
Yes!! Is been awhile since I had a new discovery that I really enjoy! This is fun!
Liked that way more than expected. Some fun music
Love this, so fun. One of my college friends brought me along to see Le Tigre on the first Friday night of my first semester in college, its likely the first show I saw in my city period. Started off with a bomp.
I was familiar with Decepticon (duh) but this had some other gems, too. Eau D'bedroom Dancing was particularly sweet.
Makes me want to go out there and be rebellious
Enjoyable, charming and simple. This album offers some catchy melodies with a punk or garage type production and, probably the most important point of the album, themes and lyrics which centers around feminism, making this album very unique.
Fun and energetic, probably a 3.5 but will round up.
I already knew and quite liked the first song! The rest of the album felt like something I would have liked more at 16 than now sadly
v fun and characterful lil album, often has more in common with 90s twee pop than it necessarily does with bikini kill but obviously its the Coexistence Of Both that defines the record. definitely something for me 2 appreciate as a fan of aesthetic garishness/tastelessness as a method of Art Iconoclasm beyond just regular "aggression". if u ask me if that extends to their hillary clinton song i will enter my second phase and hit u w/ a whole new series of combos. i liek that this band spells "yr" like i do :)
Nice!
Never thought that i would like so much a Feminist album. Non Ironically, fire.
Deceptacon is a banger. I was always lukewarm on Bikini Kill, but I really enjoyed this listen. Somehow this slipped past me when it was released and it really shouldn't have.
What is this? A mix between punk and electro? I really liked it, especially the first half. Gonna come back to this one for a while. Strong 8, possible 9.
Never dull; you get some of the Kathleen Hanna Bikini Kill sound, in a blender with hip-hop, 60's bubblegum, and urban feminism sharpened to a point and heading toward the new millenium.
I’m being generous with a 4, and that’s because I like the casual way they deliver their conscious lyrics. It’s a little goofy and precious at times, and the instrumentals sometimes grate…but overall I think everyone should listen to this. Admittedly it’s catchy and crisp. ML #107
Pure 90s that was a blueprint for the indie disco wave about to come.
Some albums need a second listen for it to sink in. Favorite picks: "Deceptacon", "Let's Run"
YES Kathleen Hanna!! This album is fun and cheeky and unapologetic. Le Tigre rocks. In a recent review I just saw, someone said: "to the guy who left the most misogynistic 1-star review calling it "histrionic screeching" - i'm going to egg your house." and I would just like to say I will join them in egging your house, you miserable douche.
a raw punk rock feminist masterpiece. "Deceptacon" is a classic of mine. "What's Yr Take on Cassavetes" is amazing. "The The Empty" is a wild crazy mess, and i loved it. my only remark would be that the riffs are a bit similar in between songs and i know it's a trope from punk albums but the songs are really short sometimes. why not just make one song and have beat switches ? "friendship station" is also a bit too corny for me. i really enjoyed "Dude Yr so Crazy!!" by how lyrically it is still (unfortunately) relevant.
First proper riot grrrl album I've listened to. Liked the mix of genres on this (punk, new wave, electronica). Badass, good shit.
A new band to me, I will enjoy listening to this again.
As someone who's really only heard Deceptacon, I was pleasantly surprised with this. The DIY-ness of the sound is fascinating and is what makes this so much fun to listen to. In reality, it's 4.5 stars and I struggled with whether to round up or down on this. Ultimately I decided if I can't figure it out, it probably means I should round down to 4.
these are total bops and i refuse to read otherwise
solid 4/5
A great twist on riot grrrl. (also while we are here they asked, and Cassavetes is a genius). 8/10
Very good
I have this one!
4.5, love a good riot grrrl album
Heck yeah. Eau D’bedroom Dancing is a great find. Yes To Let’s Run.
I saw Le Tigre play as the backing band for Peaches three days in a row opening for Nine Inch Nails. Peaches was great but a little one note for me. The band looked bored. This record was really good. Kind of wish Peaches only sang like half a set and Le Tigre played some of this.
I want to start a band just to cover The the Empty. Shades of 100 gecs on that one.
Bikini Kill, Slater Kinney, Liz Phair, Julianna Hatfield, Devo all rolled up into one band. At the same time sounding like themselves. Wwll done
I like everything about the band but unfortunately I don't like the singer's voice to want to loop most of the album except for 1 song pensive emoji fist emoji
Awesome, weird, danceable?
Surprise hit
I can't say I usually enjoy this type of music too much, but this album just has something that puts it apart for me. Enjoyed this a lot more than I expected.
a fun and enjoyable punk album that touches on current events and also on timeless activities while also slowing down into sort of droning electronic tracks.
Apple Music's write-up for this album was almost word-for-word how I would describe one of my favourite bands, Metric. My husband and I listened to the first half of this together in the car and found it interesting and compelling. I wish the lo-fi aspect wasn't present as it detracts from it for me, but I'm still planning to give this another listen.
Fun little vibe
Liked the 60s touches on here. This was a nice surprise actually, not as shouty and angry as I was expecting. Want to give it a 3.5, probably won’t listen again tbh
Enjoyed the punky vibes although started to lose interest towards the end of the album
Love that this caught me unawares, I haven't heard it or heard of it before. Fun to listen to, cleverly written and engaging throughout - result!
Good funky, angry noise. Well put together. Unfortunately I was not in the right environment to enjoy it, but I would definitely listen again.
Le Tiger is cool. 4
Riot grrrrrrrlllllllll, where have you been all my life. I love it. I think they’d be happy about recent developments related to their My My Metrocard jerk.
Love this album for its energy and really great songwriting. So many catchy songs and interesting lyrics on here. I definitely prefer Sleater-Kinny where Riotgrrl is concerned, but Kathleen Hanna is a real legend. I had a bit of an obsession with Deceptacon for a while over the COVID years, and it was a constant on my early jogging playlists. Hadn't really done a deep dive into the album until now though, glad I did!
Poppy in all the right ways, punk in all the right ways. This album rocks and keeps you bopping the whole ride while intriguing you but not distracting you with bizarre sounds and interludes.
Kathleen Hanna one of the Riot Grrrl pioneers helped form this band after Bikini Kill. I like the raw energy and emotion you hear in a lot of punk music. This album takes the edge off of the rawness so it's a lot more listenable. If you like the arty-punk/riot grrrl styles of music at all, you will like this one. Even if you don't, this is still worth a listen.
Be Your Own Pet, maar dan toegankelijker.
This album was like a crunchy peanut butter.
It has its good/great/excellent moments. It has many of them.
It's a great record, too bad the second half is a bit less. This is just old-school feminist punk à la X-Ray Spex, but with some electroclash where the horns sounded twenty years ago. Nice and sharp and fresh, but not outstanding.
Le Tigre’s self-titled debut is a fierce blend of punk ethos, electronic beats, and unapologetic politics. Formed by Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill), Johanna Fateman, and Sadie Benning (later replaced by JD Samson), the album crackles with raw energy and DIY spirit. Standout track Deceptacon is a lightning bolt of wit and infectious rhythm, while Hot Topic celebrates feminist and queer icons with a rallying energy. Tracks like Friendship Station, My My Metrocard, and What’s Yr Take on Cassavetes balance satire, groove, and sharp critique, giving the album its unmistakable edge. The rough-edged production—drum machines, samplers, and lo-fi vocals—embodies the band’s DIY ethos, turning imperfection into a statement. Kathleen Hanna’s alternately fierce and playful vocal delivery drives the message home, while harmonized chants and call-and-response structures create a communal, protest-like vibe. The political messages sometimes feel surface-level, and the album can lag when the energy falters on a few tracks. But when its infectious spirit kicks in, it’s undeniable, delivering hooks and urgency in equal measure. Its mix of feminist punk and electroclash was ahead of its time, influencing artists like Peaches and M.I.A. and movements like queer pop and feminist electro-punk. Over two decades later, Le Tigre remains strikingly relevant. Social justice and inclusivity themes resonate in today’s activist climate, while its infectious hooks and bold spirit continue to inspire. This is an album that doesn’t just demand attention; it commands action. Did/Do I own this release? I surely had some of the songs on MP3, definitely Deceptacon. Does this release belong on the list? Its inclusion in 1001 Albums to Listen to Before You Die is no surprise—this is an album that paved the way for a lot of artists Would this release make my personal list? I love the message but musically this has a few too many highs and lows. Will I be listening to it again? yes.
Nostalgia hit
Bop after bop
so much of everything going on here, love the sampling best song: dude yr so crazy worst song: n/a
Sharp political pop - girl group sounds, simple drum machines, the Shangri-Las crossed with the B-52s, calling out the patriarchy.
Deceptacon and Hot Topic = 5 stars
I like its or Fun album
Absolute gold. A group of people pissed off at the world channeling their energy into art. Not your typical punk record, non-pretentious, fresh and alive.
quite punk, reminds me of the Coathangers
Explosive riot grrrl record 🔥
Honestly this was fun. 90s punk girls getting their rage out. It's a fun mood to be in.
Badass but playful with catchy tunes throughout. Love.
Good, fun, powerful
Not in my edition of the book! 1999. 4 stars. The cynical granddaughters of The Go-Gos. Great tunes, angry vocals, cynical lyrics. Point deducted for filler on the last couple of tracks.
3.5/5 but I'm gonna go with 4 for convenience sake.
Cool.
Loved the hits and think it’ll be a good mood lifter when I need more Riotgrrrl energy, though it drifted off towards the end for me. Definitely nice to switch things up a bit from what’s come along so far.
This was a welcomed relief. I very much liked stomping round the park to this. Perhaps I wouldn’t have voted it so favourably if I hadn’t spent so long in a seventies male desert. This felt like a good antidote. I think they probably highlight what will be a theme of this club ‘genius! Misogynist’
Maybe the algorithm Gods knew we needed a bit of 90s feminist disco punk to shake things up and remind us how varied and interesting music can be. Proper breath of fresh air. Deceptacon overshadows things maybe (and must be a top 10 indie disco classic) but the whole thing is an exciting, unpredictable listen. Who else is writing songs like What's Yr Take on Cassavetes?
Surprisingly awesome, very cool album. Only negative from me was vocals sound childish, but all of it was interesting.
Punk-pop. No está mal. Un 4.
It is 4,8/5
3.7 1x catchup 11/15/24
So girly punk and badass
I don't understand how someone gains this much sophistication and confidence. They're in their 20s, and seem so sure about their stance, their politics. I'm much, much older than that, and I still don't have that kind of confidence.
fun album, first track is sick, kept a good standard through the whole thing
Surprisingly minimal, which I like, and holds up pretty well as a pop album as well as just weird indie music with some obscure references and good use of drum machines. I think what makes this album standout, however, is the energy and bite it possesses. I will definitely be checking out some Bikini Kill. In all, this reminded me of a recent conversation I had with a friend who had just watched Rosemary's Baby for the first time. Inevitably, it became a commentary on how John Cassavetes' character was a manipulative, gaslighting pos.
Bright and lively with interesting lyrics
This was a fun album, bouncing around full of punky energy. I enjoyed it!
Favourite tracks: what's yr take on cassavetes; hot topic; eau d'bedroom dancing; let's run
Mira, sólo conocía Deceptacon, pero este disco es mucho, mucho más que esa buena canción introductoria.
Tightly wired spring coiled punk rock with a lofi electro new wave synth sound and a high energy post punk dancing beat: it's the death disco formula, with a 90s art school feminist sensibility and DIY aesthetic. There is more of a 60s garage psych rock back to basics rock&roll feel to it than I expected on a few tracks. Powerful and fun, touchingly earnest and sweetly melodic, distorted as scuzzy but always under precise control, pissed off and jarring- it's a pretty wide ranging creative album that goes hard from start to finish. Favorites: deceptacon, the the empty, eau de bedroom dancing
Brilliantly quirky
good start to song
fun, but weird
Here for it
I enjoyed this a lot more than expected, had only ever heard “Deceptacon”. Fun album.
fun punky album that's still quite accessible
Solid pop-punk album. I'm torn since we can't do half stars, cuz I think this is a solid 3.5, and don't think it deserves a 3 or a 4... but I'll go with 4 since I feel slightly better rounding up.
I didn’t listen to this much at the time, very much felt like it wasn’t For Me, and I suppose it wasn’t. It sounds dated now, especially with the massive wake of similar electro-pop acts that followed. But Hanna is impossibly cool, seeming a bit self deprecating on this one but still absolutely givin’r in a way that most people don’t. Lots of great stuff here, and certainly holds a place. Liked it a lot.
This is the album Weird Barbie was making while Ken was mansplaining Pavement to the other Barbies. In seriousness, this was a fun album. I think I missed the riot grrrl period by a couple years, and I'm kind of sad now. This would've been my jam if I'd known about it in high school. It has a very post-punk vibe, like a mix of The Go-Gos and The B52s musically (with some electronica tossed in) mixed with Siouxie's fuck-you attitude. There are a couple annoying moments — "The the Empty" is kind of grating, but most of the album works. It's nice to see another all-women album on here. I imagine there are probably a lot of dudes who won't like this album, but they're just dumb Kens. 4/5
3.5 stars rounded up
Enjoyable throughout. Neat to hear an all female group on this list.
this album was pretty cool would listen again
One thing about me is I fucking love dance-punk. It’s such a perfect combination, that somehow has no right and every right to go as hard as it does. The genre found its root and began its inception in the 70s and 80s with bands like Talking Heads and Blondie. These groups are more adjacent to new wave, but dance-punk very much is the offspring of that era. Le Tigre brought it into the late 90s, modernized it, and gave it an electronic indie spin. But they also still maintained the punk aspect by backing it with feminist political lyrics. An all-girls dance-punk band? Sign me up! This is like the dance-punk equivalent of Live Through This by Hole. Just not as aggressive and heavy. Another really interesting element they play with here is samples. This just wasn’t something rock bands were doing at the time. It was a technique that seemed mostly relegated to hip-hop production. But the playfulness and range of sounds it adds to this makes the inclusion feel so refreshing. I’m surprised it isn’t something dance-punk groups haven’t done more. This was the TV Girl before that duo existed. My main concern when going into this was whether it was going to struggle with carrying on past its first song. I’m sure many people have heard Deceptacon before. Either because it’s a very popular song, or because of how big it’s been on TikTok in the past. Fortunately I believe they succeed in doing so. The rest of the album is solid, and the electronic parts combined with the fuzzy guitars sound great. Unfortunately I still think that song is probably the best this album offers. This isn’t a one-hit wonder type of group, but it is one that is judged more for that one song than for the sum of its parts. Rating: 8/10
Lively and solid album with some very catchy tracks. Was a good listen.
Like a mixture of 60s pop, the Go Gos and early B52s, I liked this rather a lot. Opening track is the standout.
Surprisingly ok, sounds a bit childish but jolly tunes and easy to listen to
3.6
Good album full of good end-of-the-90s stuff. 4/5
3.5
Bardzo fajne, takie świeże i skoczne. 4/5
Le Tigre sound like early B-52's, which is why I enjoyed the album.
An intoxicating cocktail of raw punk energy, drum machines and feminism.
Fun! Liked it more than I expected
Talk about a reset. After a decade or so of thrashing rock guitars, imploring all girls to come to the front and spearheading all sorts of revolutions, whether intentional or otherwise, Kathleen Hanna decamped to New York and set out on a different path. Le Tigre was the way forward. Merging her clarion call vocals effortlessly with the electro clash of fellow co-conspirators Johanna Fateman, Sadie Benning and JD Samson, Le Tigre set out to prove that there can be room for feminist flavored pop music and they succeed with flying colors, proving that riot gurrl can make itself capable of adapting to the uncharted waters of the 21st Century. Favorites: Deceptacon, Hot Topic, What's Yr Take on Cassavetes?, The the Empty, Eau D'bedroom Dancing, My My Metrocard, Friendship Station, Dude Yr so Crazy!!.
Just great – a fun listen but with more substance than first meets the ears. First few cuts, while absolutely likable, suggest this might be borderline novelty act or super-slight. Yet even as the bounciness and bubblegum-y hooks continue throughout, the quality and substance build with a lightly worn intensity and thoughtfulness. “Hot Topic” is just great. "Cassevetes" is cool/interesting, reflecting those pre-cancel days, when such binary questions/conversations were new and seemed relevant. "Eau d’Bedroom Dancing” is another highlight, while "Let's Run" and "My Metrocard" and "Friendship" and "Slideshow" all have their merits. The spoken word bits and sound effects work very well, they are effectively integrated and not overdone (as is so often the case). In other words, this is sneaky good / quality despite it being pure fun and brightly lit.
BL: I’ve heard the opening track from this record before. I love it. I understand their place within the riotgrrrl movement and female punk. I always thought that one track captured a Lo-Fi B52’s sound. Which I hope the rest of the album will capture AL: this album had a LOT more diversity than I was expecting. It weaves back and forth through a variety of different styles and songs from synth-y disco tracks to more traditional punk songs, all of it is done tongue in cheek and with a level of unparalleled sheik. There was a lot here that will certainly reward a relisten. The use of sampling was incredibly interesting and totally added to the late 90s sample heavy dance punk experience. The only track I didn’t really like was “what’s Yr take on cassavettes”, which massively detracted from an otherwise awesome album. FT: “Deceptacon”, “Hot Topic”, “Phanta”, “My My Metrocard” 4/5
Good album
I've rated four stars, but I'd say closer to three and a half. This album is alright. It's not as boring and average as three stars, but no particularly song is a highlight I will go back to like a four star. Just some nice moments that were fleetingly ear catching.
I was familiar with Deceptacon, but surprised to find out there is a lot more substance here. Seemed like a slightly left field selection but happy to say it’s deserved. Fave Tracks: Deceptacon, Hot Topic, Les and Ray 3.7/5
This was cool
Super raw and punk. Love it
Un album qui évoque l'esthétique DIY très Riot Grrrl, avec des assemblages un peu hétéroclite d'échantillons, de synthétiseurs et de guitares, des performances crues, non policées, mais manque peut-être de variété. La première pièce est un classique absolu.
Delightfully angular and loud in the best traditions of the art-punk movement. If you told me this album was from 1978 I’d believe you.
Best song: Eau D'Bedroom Dancing / Hot Topic Vibes: NYC Aroma's coffee shop art college student punk show after a midnight showing of Scott Pilgrim Themes: Feminism, boringness of "pop discourse"
Enjoyed more than I thought I would. They have a good mix of styles in the album and good at switching between them. Will I listen to again: 75%
Feminist banger, love the angry energy, although it’s a short album the backend lost me
4.0
I've always loved Deceptacon but never listened to this album before. Lots of fun energy and smart lyrics make it entertaining though overall it feels a little more Hot Topic than hot music.
Pretty cool
Really good energetic album
3.5
Let's run sonaba cuando yo corría a coger el autobús: el destino.
Unique sound and short, tasteful songs. A nice break from the last few classic rock albums.
This was a very cool album. I wasn't really digging it on my first listen. I sorta just had to prep my ears for the vocal style and low-fi nature. But, due to the short album length I was able to listen to it 3 times and by the 3rd time I was really digging it. Also they were ahead of the times with hating ol Rudes.
Absolutely great fun. Refreshing to hear a female voice in a cock heavy list.
Best Song: Let's Run. Killer performance where the vocalist really shows her strength. Even the "woohoo" part of the chorus, which could easily be annoying, somehow isn't here. Worst Song: Friendship Station. I'm here for the energy, not this laid-back coolness. Overall: Pure fun. High energy, punctate tracks that burst into the room, give it all they've got, and then just as quickly recede. I was thoroughly impressed by this one, even if it did begin to lose its intensity in the last few tracks.
First time listen and immediately a fan! Feminist new-wave post-punk with excellent instrumentation and great hooks.
Riot grrrl infused with sampling and electronic elements while Kathleen Hanna provides her trademark vocal and lyrics. What’s not to enjoy?
This was pretty good!
Already vaguely aware of this album but never listened to it until now. Deception stood out to me the most, but the whole album was just so fun.
I didn't hate it and I thought I would
Great album that has aged well!
Bang bang
great punk rock album could keep it on loopt 5+ times
First real discovery after 10 or so albums from this list. Loved the energy and the lyrics. Drums are fire too.
I don’t know which era this really belongs in because it spans so many styles. 3.5/5
Fun shouty hipster punk - with a strong start - a strange middle yet the right length. Always welcome to listen to it.
This has got a real nice edge to it
A great album that gets docked points for not being as good as the first Julie Ruin album and for inventing electroclash
I stan Kathleen Hanna
This felt like a late 80’s album as opposed to a late 90’s album. Felt in the same vein as New Wave/ Punk from Athens, GA where the likes of the B52’s and DEVO hail.
The album combined pop music with the band's feminist political lyrics.
This is a splendid debut album, exciting and challenging.
This kind of reminds me of the strokes. the synth pop…the lyrics are off the wall. Is this something that I would listen to regularly. No. However, I’m really glad I listened to this album. It is a trip. As with earlier albums reviewed, it feels like 2000…punk. Something you would hear at a nightclub and need to be on drugs to get it.
Fun as hell 90s indie, this feels like the sound Edgar Wright was trying to pay homage with his take on Sex Bob-Omb in Scott Pilgrim and I love that
It's like being inside Edgar Wright.
With an electrifying clash of punk rock feminism and dancefloor aptitude, Le Tigre's debut sinks its claws into complacency and shakes listeners out of their comfort zone.
opening track reminded me of X-Ray Spex, not all up to taht standard but fairly decent
Mostly pretty good, occasionally very crap. Thumbs up
MISOGYNIST! GENIUS!
9/10
What an absolutely strange, liminal sound Le Tigre have got here. It's music that shouldn't exist - and that certainly shouldn't sound good - but it does. Vocals that are clear and full of emotion, yet monotonous and robot-like (in a good way), conveying some message I have yet to figure out. Lots of motif repetition and droning with synths and guitars, to a pretty good effect. The music is kind of time-defying, not in the sense that it doesn't sound dated (it does) but that it's difficult to pinpoint exactly what era or genre it's emulating. There's clearly a punk influence... but anything further than that, I'm lost. Key tracks: Deceptacon, Hot Topic, Let's Run, Les and Ray
Still so much fun. A punk wave classic.
Oddball and genre bending crappy little rock band.
Liked this a lot more than I thought I would
Wonderful post-funk. Too much feminist focused for an old macho like me (not really) but I appreciate the raw energy with the clever use of the back-and-forth vocals. Jolly good!
Oh man The way this kicked off I thought we were in for a 5⭐️ album Unfortunately the final third of the album is nowhere near as strong as the first part but this is still a great discovery
A mix of pop and punk. That female lead singer is either really getting after it or not chill...mostly getting after it. It's give it 3.5 if I could, but I'll round up.
I’ve never heard of this one before and I loved it!! Great lyrics/messages and the music was so much fun. Listens: 3 Fave track: I liked them all, but I found Les and Ray really heartwarming and Deceptacon was awesome. Rating: 4
:)
I think this is very cool
I saw Le Tigre live opening for Beck back in 2005 and didn't know anything about them, and they were awesome. I haven't listened to them much, but man this record rules. Just a great sound and energy, very dancy and very much in your face. Love it.
Quite catchy, a little too much random shouting for me.
I love that the album kind of sounds like it was made in a bedroom. I don't like drum machines, but I'm also a drummer, so I recognize that's a bias that I have. For how simple it is, it sounds really good. And while they embrace the punk vibes of loud instruments and muffled vocals, the message still comes through loud and clear. I love the recorded spoken bits of Slideshow at Free University.
Ka liiii
kathleen hanna strikes again
I was going into this album not expecting to enjoy it but I was pleasantly surprised! This was a fun album and easy to get into. I don’t think I would regularly listen to it, however I’d play it again and check out their other work.
well this has stood up pretty well for something that was uber cool in its day.
It's grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat
Not too bad: when I think of punk this is basically exactly what I envision, a strong opener which I will always bop along to (no clue where I know it from, probably TikTok, the shame) and then followed by no stand out tracks but nothing too bad. I would say I enjoyed this and would listen again.
Riot Grrls rule! A mixture of late 90s post grunge, and early 80s girl punk, flows well throughout. Deceptacon is iconic
Have to admit that I've got a thing for girl bands. I'd never heard of these guys and this was a pleasant surprise. It has a Go Go's and The Runways had an angry, sensitive, conflicted, baby vibe going for it that I really enjoyed.
I was really surprised by that one. I loved the annoyingly adorable vocals and the power felt within the guitar riffs and tones. A strong intention to kick some asses behind this record and this is a success.
This album is FIRE, I enjoy the coherent messages and theme throughout this record. A lot of the songs have the same structure but are laced with uniqueness. Vocals are edgy and honestly fantastic, this album does punk correctly. FEMINIST MASTERPIECE Favourites: Deceptacon / Hot Topic / Phanta / Let’s Run / My My Metrocard / Slideshow at Free University / Les and Ray
Mss door de korte duur maar dit voelde echt aan als een album album heel toffe liedjes en geluiden ook!
This sounds like if you put X-Ray Spex in a pressure cooker and I will not elaborate further. More proof that women are better at punk than men.
This one is definitely a nostalgic one, for i never listened to it outside of university parties. Doubt i would ever give it another spin, but i love how i puts me back in time, so it gets its 4/5, half of which is pure nostalgy.
Enjoyed this. Kinda like a Runaways go punk vibe.
Love it.
