I can see why people don't listen put it that way
Brown Eyes feels like the real standout in an album I'm not really connecting with so far. Further down, I like Tusk, but this doesn't really elevate my opinion of Fleetwood Mac
First song was classic Fleetwood Mac, second is NOT. with that being said I like both. Think about me is fun, I like this one too. Save me a place is mid. Don’t like the guitar. Production is really good on Sara, but not a fan of what they did with the vocals. More weird sound decisions on what makes you think you’re the one (drums are overpowering)a, but catchy tune. Storms is really really good. That’s all for everyone is catchy, but also over produced. A lot going on but still a fun song. Not sure abt the xylophone. Not that funny is pretty good, not much more to say than that. Next two songs I liked, but nothing earth shattering. Angel is oddly normal compared to the rest of the album. Another one where I find myself nodding my along to. That’s enough for me was fine. I like brown eyes a lot, would listen to this song again. Production is funky on on I know I’m not wrong, but it’s a really fun song. Honey hi is forgettable. I like beautiful child a lot, very emotional, good lyrics and good background track. 10 seconds into walk a thin a line and I’m not a fan, again way too much drums it’s hurting my head. The chorus is catchy but production ruins it. Risk is really good, classic Fleetwood Mac. Production again is funky but I think they make it work with this one. Never forget is good not great, probably won’t listen to again. Overall I enjoyed the album, more good than bad ultimately. Probably would listen to the album as a whole again. Don’t really understand the hate, 3.4 stars
Just makes me wish I was listening to Rumours really
Was not familiar with these one before, only listened to Rumours. Been meaning to check out moore. Compostions are rock solid. Just like the cocaine rocks that they consumed while doing this record. Love Stevie’s voice the most. Lindsey sounds a bit stale. Great composing as always. Legendary as they are. I’m sure this will grow if listened again and again.
This is no Rumors. This a perfectly fine (if maybe slightly bland) Fleetwood Mac album. Not as much feeling as I would expect.
The album is not bad, some songs are nice, overall is soft and easy to listen to but some parts are kind of boring. I like other songs of the band and they are better than the ones included in this album. 2,75/5
How do you follow up one of the biggest selling albums of all time? With a sprawling double album that takes forever to make and costs more than $1 million, of course. Add in dysfunctional band dynamics, the creative stress of trying not to repeat the formula for success...you get Tusk. It's still the Mac of the Rumors era (Over and Over, Sara), or even pre-Rumors (Think About Me) but it's also Buckingham wanting to try new things (The Ledge...different). And it's Buckingham's megalomania. It both works as an interesting creative endeavour and a monument to self-indulgent 1970s excess. Listening with fresh ears it's...not bad. Maybe would have been better as a single album, but the double album serves as an insightful document as to the band's mindset of the time.
Heard it before. It's a charming record but it has a very "unfinished" feeling to it. The closest we get to a full song is the title track which I love a lot 3/5
vibe meio country/folk not my cup of tea apetece-me dar dnf sisters of the moon banger
Tsk
Much less sure about this one felt it was a bit overlong and none of the tracks really stood out
It's no Rumours, but that's an unfair comparison for almost any album. It is a bit cheesy at times, and it isn't as novel or experimental as it wants to be.
Hm it was a good album, not bad, but not something I would put in my playlist. Quite calm and explored certain themes
recht as vielfältigs album
Too much to take on board here - especially during a working morning. It served the purpose of background music that didn't do my nut in - which sometimes, is all you want from a background music working album. Nice analogue sound with a warm bass and drum thing going off. No shit, seeing as though Tusk was from the analogue era. Oh - and it's bloody long. I persisted, only because I couldn't be arsed to break out of the working mindset.
Just so, so. Not much standing out.
Over & Over and Sara sounded like Fleetwood Mac to me. And then came the Ledge which is almost honky-tonk to a certain extent and then we have Save Me a Place which reminded me of weird singing family who came to my church one time. Storms is really a beautiful and flowy...and then it's just all over the place - the song style tips frantically from one side to the other. Tusk is the cherry on the crazy cake. Since I still enjoyed it overall, I'd listen to it again.
This is a weak FM album, make weaker because it was the follow up to one of the greatest albums, Rumors. I love the title song, but honestly, I think it would have been better if the Christie McVie and Stevie Nicks songs were given their own album. 3/5
Sara is one of my favorites, tusk is a very stark and unique track, it starts oddly with some low tempo tracks, I think overall the flow of the album doesn’t work.
Just an average album, definitely not their best.
Own this. It's an interesting effort after rumours. Not as enjoyable but has its moments.
I guess I am (un)fortunate enough to get both Fleetwood Mac albums within a 3 or 4 day span, lucky me. If only it was the Peter Green albums, my dad (and I)'s preferred Fleetwood Mac period. Glad they chose to not sound more like Rumours and instead sound like if Fleetwood Mac were more influenced by postpunk and all the music changes from the mid 70s onward to the album's publishing date. Great approach! I don't think this album suffers from bloat with its length of songs and being over an hour. There's a couple of songs I could relisten to on my ultimate shuffle placement like Not That Funny or Sisters of the Moon. Between That's All For Everyone and That's Enough For Me is ironically my favorite group of songs on the album. Aside from the self-titled song and maybe Over and Over and Think About Me, the rest just sounds like regular old Fleetwood Mac without any extra spicyness to it. Other than that, it's not bad. I don't particularly care for it, or post Peter Green era aside. It's good it existed and wasn't just standard pop music and was experimental for the genre (and their label's money). Okay that's enough. Please give me some random jazz musician by now please. I think I'm spared from further Fleetwood Mac selections, that's a relief.
It’s good
This record is unfairly maligned for not being commercially successful. That irritates me deeply. It sold FOUR MILLION records. There's a lot of artists out there who would like to be commercial failures by selling four million records. That being said, it's also a pretty good record. Sure, the sappy ballads and country-tinged passive-aggression aimed at each other aren't really my thing, but I do appreciate the record.
Very enjoyable album, but man, way too long. Luckily I was listening at work so the time didn't matter so much. A few songs really stood out, like "The Ledge" and "Honey Hi". No single track really blew me away.
Very influential, with a few great tracks. High 3/5
Tusk kicks itself off with a couple of surprising, significant stylistic shifts from Over & Over to The Ledge, then Think About Me. All three modes work, from the deeply emotional, gently hooky pop ballad to the pumped up, manic, rickety rock. It’s a strong start which sets an unrealistic expectation because four songs in it settles into a generally amenable vibe which ties the majority of the LP together. It isn’t until the standout keyboard countermelody of I Know I’m Not Wrong until something knocks you out of all the general pleasantness. The backend of the album, from Beautiful Child reels you in with some compelling gentle drama and storytelling which feels personal. The quality of writing keeps you interested - but I don’t think this LP needs to be 74 minutes long.
Quite liked this, 3 from me
Middle of the road this
Very good But some songs aren't that my type
that was alright but certainly not nearly as good as their bigger hits. No wonder this one was a commercial flop.
There are some really good songs in here but they're crowded by a few others really, really bad ones. If you trimmed this down by about 5 or so songs at the minimum you could have a really good album here.
This is a bit of an outlier when it comes to Fleetwood Mac. It is not as amazing as their first album or Rumors, but it is a good album nonetheless. I think it is a little more experimental than their previous work, like there are a few weird tracks within the album like "Not That Funny" which is okay but can really seem weird for Fleetwood Mac to make. But, it also seems as though they are trying to emulate some of their songs from Rumors like Think About Me sounds great but is eerily reminiscent of Go Your Own Way. Another critique I have is that it feels as though this was an album that was created for the sake of being created. Like, this was something that was pressured onto them by their record label, it felt as though some of the songs were weird rather than the deep songwriting and composition that Fleetwood Mac is known for. It just feels like it was made with haste rather than with love. Also, it doesn't help how Lindsay Buckingham tried his best to emulate new wave and post-punk bands at the time which didn't really translate well in this album and just sounds plain weird. But overall, the album is alright but I'm surprised this made it on here rather than their self-titled album because that is an amazing album like Landslide and Rhiannon alone makes its place on here deserved but I didn't make this list. Favorite Tracks: The Ledge, Think About Me, Sara, Storms Rating: 3/5
Coke opus. Production is amazing.
Not as good as Rumours
This is definitely not bad but there is wayy better Fleetwood Mac. The slow songs on this album felt kind of too slow and the energetic ones felt too energetic. Even from the start, the jump from the 1st to 2nd track is not very smooth. Overall it’s just not very catchy and a little all over the place but not bad and pretty pleasant to listen to. Fav songs: over & over, honey hi
Alright
Good but def nowhere near as good as Rumours. Seems very individualistic vs the band working as one.
Nice enough, but doesn't tickle my fancy bone like other Fleetwood Mac albums.
Here’s my running log from listening to this album for the first time: The Ledge was pretty cool Quite liked the drum groove switch ups on What Makes You Think… Not getting much out of this at all… I Know I’m Not Wrong I don’t mind God, I’m bored. I simply could not tell you what makes this album special. Some really cool instrumentation on the title track. And what a boring song to end on. Yep, finished it now and it felt so unmemorable. Some interesting ideas here and there (for instance, I’ve now grown very fond of The Ledge!) but otherwise, dull track after dull track. I’d love someone to explain to me why this album is so special and revered. I really can’t figure it out.
Zuerscht hani honestly ned de best idrock vom dem Albom gha. Es esch ergendwie halt huere lang ond ergendwelche monotone Country. Debi hed sech das Albom vorallem rächt zogen ohni wörk e guete Song debi z ha. Wel ech aber inzwösche t Gwonheit pflege es Albom öber längeri ziit emmer weder z lose, was s abschliesse vom Projekt düdlech schweriger macht, esches de aber om einiges besser worde ond esch au emmer no debi. S wederholte Lose hed mer gholfe mech a dä country/ folk z gwöhne ond s Spannende us de verschednige songs z ghöre. So send einigi songs rächt geil wie the Ledge met em Kanon, anderi brenged verschednigi Atmosphäre no guet. Trotzdem heds mer e chli sehr vel melancholischi Songs debi. Ned dass sie schlächt wäred oder so, es esch halt emmer no ned so mis Deng. Loschtigerwiis esch t Beliebtheit vom Song done e rächt e schlächte Indikator wie guet ech ne fende. So esch Tusk öppe ganz okay. Es esch no geil wie de song ufbaut esch, är ändet aber gfühlt scho sobald är is laufe chond. Anderi met düdlech weniger Ufrüef send deför no rächt geil.
Remember when napalm death got 28 songs in 33 minutes? This is very close to the opposite. We haven’t rolled rumors yet but I’ve obviously listened to it before, this is such an interesting follow up. Another review says something along the lines of this is what happens when you have to follow up a masterpiece and have infinite budget and run way to experiment however you want, which in this case doesn’t feel like it turned out positively. This feels like a collection of demos and ideas compared to Rumors. And twice as long. I don’t know that anything on here is bad but not much of it is particularly inspiring or jaw dropping. Sisters of the moon is maybe the only one I really enjoyed. Feeling a solid 3 but I’m sure if I was a die hard fan I would love this album as the outlying weird one that gives you a different introspective look into the band. Listing examples of bands I love that have this and to show how disconnected I am with anything that came out before 2000 anyways: the Strokes Angles, queens era vulgaris, Jeff Rosenstock 2020 dump, fall out boys folie a deux, Porter Robinsons virtual self —- all of these are commercial dumps that I would give a 5 so I guess looking at tusk through this lens makes me understand people wanting to give it a 4 or 5. Just not me!
How does one go from releasing what might be the best boomer soft-rock album of all time to this bloated heap of half-baked ideas. It's not even that all of this is unlistenable, it just feels like there was so much fat that could've been trimmed. I'm feeling a soft 3/5 on this
Critical analysis of Fleetwood Mac's work is always overwhelmed by the story of the band, the image of the band, and the inherent sensationalism of 70s rock. If we can bring ourselves to separate the art from the artists, then we can dispense with all the hand-wringing about this album. It's a totally harmless, middle-of-the road rock record. Next.
I would say a 3. My guess is this got a 3.3
Great album. But not my favourite of Fleetwood Mac.
It was great, some very pleasant tracks - as a whole, a very nice album. But it was not as good as I expected and I think they went into quantity over quality territory with this one.
This is #day406 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and… believe it or not, this is my first-ever listening to Fleetwood Mac, aka the most expensive rock album recorded. I've seen the cover of Rumours a lot, and I know it's listed among the greatest records out there, and I also know it's still waiting on me, but I never got to hear the band itself. Until today. Because that's what happens when you sign up for a project like this. Do I like what I'm hearing? Well, I don't mind it. For the most part, though, it's an audiophile dad rock. Am I likely to return here? Doubt it. Although musically diverse, the record is incredibly long. This is a 3 out of 5. Looking forward to #day407.
Love Fleetwood Mac. Some songs here not their best
I really only know Rumours that well, this has a similar split personality thing going on, but it doesn't feel like the sum of its parts adds up to quite as much. Hard going to be judged by that album I guess, but inevitable in hindsight.
Much slower than I expected. My mom has beef with this album because they used the band from USC the "university of spoiled children" as she likes to call it. It's hard to follow up Rumors. This album feels like a pallet cleanser for them.
What a huge disappointment after Rumours. Goes to prove that artistic genius is a delicate and volatile thing. The band was clearly too much in their own heads here. Trying to follow trends a little too much, trying to both capitalize on their success and not get stuck in a box. This is not a bad album at all and it certainly has some great songs, but overall its a huge step down.
I think Fleetwood Mac are the greatest band of their generation, but Tusk falls flat compared to their other output from this period. Aside from the title track there's not too much here to fully engage me, as much as I want to be drawn in. Not even Sara, the second most popular track from this collection, would score greater than a 3 in my opinion.
Bizzare and disjointed throughout, with clearly an experimental approach to the album. The tone of each song is wildly different to the last, but somehow it’s still immersive and interesting despite its many flaws. Some real high moments too with Storms & Sisters Of The Moon.
Tusk? Like the Kevin Smith film? 3.5 stars, need to give it a closer listen.
Pretty good overall beautiful child is by far the best song very chill and more of breakup album
5.5/10 It's not even that weird. Just long and incoherent. It sounds unfinished. There are a couple of good moments though. Three stars because I suspect a deeper dive would find even more good moments. Highlights: Tusk Sisters of the Moon Sara
3/5
It was fine. Lindsey Buckingham attempting to perform Talking Heads style songs made me laugh. Some of the songs went too long.
Nicks vocals are the best! Sisters of the Moon absolutely brilliant. Probably too much filler for my liking though
There were rumours this album was “experimental” so I expected something…well, experimental. But I now realize what they really mean is “experimental by Fleetwood Mac standards.” So, what does experimental by Fleetwood Mac standards mean? In this case, it means it’s a departure from Rumours, mostly, and also…kinda drab. I think the problem is more of a lyrical and content issue, not so much a musical one. Sometimes the music is joyful and playful, and it’s almost promising at least. But in the end, the songs as a whole don’t compel me to return. If you are going to follow up a massive success with a massive double album, make it the White Album. Make it “The Wall.” Make it “Songs in the Key of Life.” They may have tried to do that, but unfortunately didn’t hit the mark (not for me at least).
I liked hearing all the variety. I was surprised by Brown Eyes to the end of the album.
feetwood mac. tusk is a scary movie but they should have used it for the soundtrack. 7/10
Excellent harmonies and production. Really easy to listen to and I am not a Fleetwood Mac fan.
Not the old rockin' Peter Green Fleetwood Mac (by far my preferred version). Definitely a more experimental sound even for this line-up, and a large stylistic variety of songs. I guess a way of looking at it is that 1979 was a strange time for the world, and a strange time for music. This album reflects that idea of, "does anyone really know what's going on or what we are supposed to be doing?" So, yeah, not my favorite.
It’s a good album to just let play through, and there’s obvious variety from the rotation of vocalists and songwriters. I particularly liked “Sara” and “Angel”. However, it does confirm for me what I’ve often suspected about myself with Fleetwood Mac - I have a hard time getting excited about any of the songs written by Buckingham.
1. Over & Over - 7 Vocally fantastic. There's a huge simplicity in the drums and guitars but they sound excellent and the perfect tempo and volume for the track. Solid slow song. 2. The Ledge - 8 Fun song. The pace and tempo are brilliant and the lyrics make this a really really enjoyable change of pace from Over & Over. 3. Think About Me - 6 Little too simplistic song for me. Not bad the guitars sound really good but overall it's not got the same bite as the opening two tracks. 4. Save Me a Place - 3 Another track that's too simplistic and even more so than Think About Me. It sounds too much like a lullaby and isn't interesting enough of a track to keep your interests for very long even though the track is less than three minutes long. 5. Sara - 10 Great track. Lyrically brilliant it builds instrumentally so well through each verse and chorus until a fantastic outro fades it all out. Superb listen. 6. What Makes You Think You're the One - 6 Great sound on the guitars and drums but lyrically a bit dull and uninspiring. 7. Storms - 10 What a brilliant track. It's slow but just absolutely outstanding in every way. Classic Fleetwood Mac sound and lyrics. Superb track and the best one on the album so far. 8. That's All for Everyone - 6 Instrumentally it's a really really enjoyable track. Lyrically it's a really really boring track. 9. Not That Funny - 6 Bit of a quirky song that's instrumentally okay just a little bit of a departure from the rest of the album. 10. Sisters of the Moon - 11 Great track. This is peak Fleetwood Mac in sound. Guitars are absolutely stunningly brilliant on it, especially in the bridge. Vocally an incredible track as well, Stevie Nicks' voice helps elevate the track to another level. The solo at the end is absolutely incredible as well. 11. Angel - 7 Solid opening song to the second album on this double album. Nicks' voice really guide this track well. The guitars provide a lovely accompaniment alongside a fantastic drum line. 12. That's Enough for Me - 7 Fun quick track. Short and sweat and instrumentally a lot of fun. 13. Brown Eyes - 5 Pretty stale and repetitive. Wouldn't blame anyone for listening to it once and never doing so again. 14. Never Make Me Cry - 6 Decent slow song. Everything there is good in terms of the composition. Not anything phenomenal but not a poor track either. 15. I Know I'm Not Wrong - 8 Lyrically not the best but the guitars sound excellent on this track and the brief solo at the end is the perfect culmination of sound. Solid track. 16. Honey Hi - 5 Very much a pass over track. Short and not much to it at all. Honestly just feels like album filler. 17. Beautiful Child - 3 Not really lyrically a song I enjoyed very much. Incredible slow tempo as well means there's not much the track is supposed to be offering outside of the vocals/lyrics. 18. Walk a Thin line - 3 Another pass over track. Offers absolutely nothing to add to the album. 19. Tusk - 6 Complete tone change but it's alright. Instrumentally it's very good but the background noises detract a bit from the song. 20. Never Forget - 6 Bit repetitive at times it's a decent track with a good sound. Not a bad track to end the album on. Average Rating: 6.45 Adjusted to 5-Point Scale: 3.23 Rounded Down: 3 Stars
My second Fleetwood Mac album on this. The first one was Rumours and it was fantastic. This one was not that. It had some songs that sounded a bit like other Fleetwood Mac songs, but less focused and more frantic. There are a number of songs that were good, but when I compare it to their own work, it pales.
Inconsistent, but not as bad as I thought. 3
De første par sange var virkelig gode, så var der ikke så mange ørehængere, men har stemning all together. For langt.
Dragged on a tad, slightly too aimless for me. 3.
This can't be the same band that made Rumours. All the fire is gone. With exception of the last couple tracks the songs are wandering and listless.
Some nice slow songs such as Beautiful Child, but overall not my favourite style of Fleetwood Mac
Not a fan of this band but objectively a great sounding record
This is a strange album. Only really tuneful when Buckingham doesn't sing but his playing is great. Sara is an amazing song and is the standout track. Democracy reigned supreme in this band and it was sometimes to the detriment because in each album released by Fleetwood mac a different member steps up. Its definitely worth a listen but rumours is a much stronger album.
The kind of album that would be significantly better if some songs were removed, and even so, still wouldn’t be great. The production also kind of sounds like shit. I can’t help but think that if I was born decades earlier and bought this physically when it came out because I do like lots of Fleetwood Mac songs, I would be so disappointed. It just doesn’t sound polished enough for a band this successful. I did add a few of the songs to my playlist though.
I think the band must have been feeling pressure after Rumours which is why they maybe went for a "White Album" next. There is a single albums worth of very good songs and Nick's voice is on top form. Worth a listen.
I really enjoyed the more experimental songs.
Bringing casual sad girl boho vibes to the world for decades now. I was introduced to Fleetwood Mac by my twin friends/roommates when we were around 18 or 19. They loved this music - said their mom used to play it all the time - and they’d sing along in the car like it was the soundtrack of their lives. I remember thinking it was kind of funny how deeply they connected with something that, at the time, felt like “older lady music” to me. Fast forward to recently: I was in the car with two other friends (both older than me), and I had DJ duties. I was playing my usual melancholy stuff, but they weren’t really feeling it. One of them said, “Let’s put something a bit more upbeat on,” and what do they throw on? Fleetwood Mac. Haha! Full circle. I like a few FM tracks, but sometimes the pacing and repetition can wear on me. Tusk is a very long album, and before this, I’d only really heard the biggest tracks - “Sara,” “Storms,” “Tusk.” The rest was new to me. I have a light touch with Fleetwood but they obviously knew what they were doing.
I liked the Lindsey Buckingham and Katherine McVie songs more than I thought I would. I disliked the Stevie Nicks songs more than I thought I would. Interesting album.
Ya, well, ummmm, ahhh it’s alright. Choice cut: Save me a Place
OK
All happy bands are alike; each unhappy band is unhappy in its own way. This particular unhappy band is unhappy because, first of all, they're all aggressively using at this point (and not in any of the fun ways!) but also because Lindsey Buckingham, who does *not* want to just remake *Rumours* over and over (you succeeded there, bud) feels like freezing out his bandmates - especially Stevie Nicks - in favor of long stretches of ennui-fueled mid-tempo musings. Cruel irony (ironies usually are): his insistence on trying to be more front and center only makes us miss Stevie more - when she finally arrives on "Sara" it feels like a relief, to the point that she can get away with six minutes of meandering of her own, because hers feels like it's actually going somewhere. This all sounds harsher than perhaps is warranted; there's nothing *bad* here and there's plenty that would have been worth keeping on a pared-down single album, from "Sisters of the Moon" to "Beautiful Child" to the title track. (Gotta say, hiring the USC Marching Band is an all-time great Coke Album move.) But there's a heaviness about all of it; maybe that's the point, and maybe this album is a record of a party that's gone on too long. Maybe *Tusk* actually is what *Hotel California* claims to be - but, see, *Hotel California* is better.
I liked it!
Very pleasant listen
Rumours was jam packed with hits whereas this one doesn't have a stand out single yet it is still a good listen. Feels like they really just kind of went for it musically on this one and disregarded the formula that made Rumours so big.
Interesting listen. Moody, emotional and wide open
Good not great, probably an incredible single album in there.
Pas convaincu.
Kind of all over the place with a few standouts
To me Tusk is like the morning after Rumours. It's a solid collection of listenable songs that I'm not into. Oh, and it sounds like John McVie took some bass lessons, as his playing is much improved (if it is actually him on bass!).
theres some really weird dated dumb sounded songs on here, but when it good its fucking good. love me some soft rock, none of that wack country pop rock shit on here god its bad. rym says its cowpunk god i love that sites stupid genres wtf is cowpunk
Tusk the song is excellent . I couldn't find myself getting into the rest
Listens: 2 Standout Tracks: Sara, Sisters of the Moon I've never listened to Fleetwood Mac before in album form. Probably heard several tracks on the radio, but never listened to their albums. Strangely however, I saw them in concert in 2013, in Boston, with my dad and sister. Not really knowing them or any of their music, I had a hard time keeping my eyes open (man, is that a boring, depressing thing to write down or what?) during the concert. Anyways, this album, like so many others on the List for me is just fine. Not terrible, not amazing. Some good songs: Sisters of the Moon and Sara stood out to me. Incidentally, those are both songs written and performed by Stevie Nicks. She has a nice voice. What I tend not to like on this album were the country-like songs. Still haven't ever really acquired a taste for any country music so far while listening to albums from the List. I would have liked to listen to this album one or two more times before rating, because I think it could be a 4 for me if I gave the music some time to sink in. My listening ritual was interrupted last night, and so what normally would have been at least three listens turned into two.
Honestly, it’s not the best. I liked just two of the twenty songs on this album. It’s really average at best.
They really are best when they’re bitter. Some good stuff but far too much fill.
Better than I thought it would be. Some songs drag this down.
Amongst the usual MOR pap that FM usually churn out there are some really interesting tracks giving the double album some much needed variety.
Somehow country but better
So long, lacking the immediate hooks of rumours but some good songs
Own it
of course
Fairly mellow for Fleetwood
Perfectly average - wild for how soon after Rumours this was made.
Good stuff. Only a couple of familiar songs. I can put this on and just chill any old time. 7.4
A solid album for Fleetwood Mac fans, but nothing seminal. Selection of songs seems disjointed a bit.
Soooo long. This was no rumors!
Like listening to Carole King, but now I’m angry
un album foarte relaxant. imi place cum foloseste elementele de folk(desi as zice ca nu e folk in mare parte). ma pot imagina pe o pajiste ascultand asta. eventual pe un cal chiar. devine putin plictisitor pe final ca e cam lung dar e bun per total. i-as da un 7 dar on the lower side asa ca 3 stele
Good album. I liked "Sara", "Storms", and "Sisters of the Moon".
Too many songs that all sound too similar, imo. Just mid. Never been a huge fan of Fleetwood Mac or Stevie Nicks' music
Better than you would think but you can almost hear the cocaine
I mean, it was fine but a little bland. And tbh if I'm specifically reaching for a Fleetwood Mac album, I'm just gonna grab Rumors. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’d never heard Tusk before. I now understand why. Let’s be honest, it’s no Rumours. I can hear the nuggets of not fully formed creative ideas throughout, but there’s very little that resonates with me on this album, and despite its length, its self-indulgent tone doesn’t help solve this for me. It’s bloated and a touch incoherent in a White Album way, but unlike the Beatles’ release which for me can be edited down to a much more palatable, shorter, 5 star album, this doesn’t offer anything like enough high points to get an edited version high score. The best I can say is that it’s inoffensive, the worst that it’s not memorable and I’ll likely never listen to it again.
Lots of hits and misses on this record. It was mostly enjoyable. Favourite Track(s): Least Favourite Track(s):
A lot going on here, didn't feel that cohesive which is a shame. Stevie Nicks has a cracking voice.
OK
3.3 1x
This is the classic reaction album, zagging where Rumours zigged. I like the subdued mood, but some songs sound incomplete or unfinished. (Double albums are dangerous.) The ones that feel fully fleshed out—like "Sisters of the Moon"—are pretty great, though.
I love Fleetwood Mac but this feels coke-bloated. It's mostly solid, but can't say there's one song on here that really feels like a classic to me. It's like a Use Your Illusion without a November Rain.
A couple of gems but not enough.
Some real bangers on here, but also some filler. Quite a different sound to the early years but not quite where they got to with Rumours.
OK
There's a lot of good music here, but I also felt it had a lot of filler. Again, as it happens often with double albums, it feels overlong and like it would've benefited from cutting some material and making it flow better. This, because it also feels disjointed at times, it feels like the songwriters weren't really sharing a vision. I think this mostly comes down to Buckingham trying to do something different than the rest of the band, and it ends up sounding a bit disconnected. McVie, Nicks and Buckingham are still very talented, great singers and ambitious songwriters. My favourite one here is Stevie Nicks, I really like her voice and her songwriting is superb, her songs are by far my favourites from the album. The tracks that I liked were "The Ledge", "Save Me a Place", "Sara", "Sisters Of The Moon", "Tusk" and "Never Forget". "Tusk" was the best for me, I loved the brass, the drums and their voices sound superb together. From the rest, I felt there were a lot of just average songs, and I disliked "Not That Funny".
Not as good as Rumours.
Not as strong as the last FM album but a decent listen
forgotten about this one, big rollout when it released, good to hear Christine McVie
it's ok, a bit generic 70s/80s slow rock, typical fleetwood mac 6/10
Fine but not my jam
This album has always puzzled me. I am a bigger fan of this band before Buckingham/ Nicks came along, and it has some good songs, but only 8, but I gave it another listen, it’s been a while, but my opinion is the same as the 1979 one.
it’s not a bad album. very tight album where everyone does their part. it’s just so boring in my opinion.
Goed, maar wat minder een geheel als andere albums
Man. Why didnt we listen to Rumors? Way better album
I did not expect this.
"Cocaine is a helluva drug" Listened to B4? No Tracks Already Saved on Spotify: 1: Sara Standout Tracks: Sara, Sisters of the Moon, Brown Eyes (62/100)
Medium Fleetwood
A complex and experimental double album which followed their absolute smash _Rumours_, and was fuelled by Lyndsey Buckingham's desire not to create _Rumours 2_. The tension that existed within the band and that brilliantly underpinned _Rumours_ starts to move the members apart here, resulting in a lack of musical cohesion that they achieved on the previous album ,despite the personal tensions. That's not to say that this is a bad album! It's certainly too long, as many double albums are but there are a lot of great songs from _Sara_, Storms, Sisters of the Moon, and the brilliant title track and my personal .....
Decent? No white album but then again fleetwood mac are no Beatles so
good - a few real classics and some experimentation.
Crazy that they spent an almost gilded age level of money on this. Where did the cash go? I’ve heard more cohesive, better sounding albums recorded at people’s homes. Not the greatest or many people’s go-to FM record, but still of its era, and a nice background listen.
Strange mix of songs. Not that memorable really...
not my fave, but not a miserable listen lol. Got some new chill jammy songs from it
Not as good as rumours, still a decent album
coulda listened to more, wasnt the vibe of the day, will come back. 3/5
basically fell asleep listening to this. bit more complex than dreams, also felt a bit slower. maybe between a 5 and 6.
Not bad, but nothing special. I've heard Rumors of a better album from this band though
The history around the album is neat
She fleet on my wood till I mac
I want to rate them higher because I love Fleetwood Mac, but this album as a whole was underwhelming.
It’s…fine. Not enough Stevie Nicks. Unsure why this is more influential than the much more iconic Rumours.
Not bad, good chill album.
Rumors is a perfect album. This was not, but it’s was still really great. How is anyone supposed to follow up Rumors anyway??
Pretty good.
Tynn 3’er. Liker godt måten gitaren krydrer enkelte sanger. Bass og kvinnelig vokal er også pluss. Misliker sterkt trommelyd og -spillingen.
Some duds for sure but a decent amount of fun, funky songs in here. Reading that the band had influence from the Talking Heads definitely makes sense as well. 6/10
Even though Tusk is kind of a mess, it's the perfect bridge album between Rumors and Tango in the Night (my personal favourite FM album by a mile). Buckingham goes wild in the studio because he could, high off the success of Rumors (and a lot of cocaine). There are some massive highlights here, mostly Stevie's songs (Sara, Angel...they've got that signature FM bounce to them) and obviously Think About Me slaps. But the bad/unfocused definitely outweighs the good, here. 3/5
chill, I like it. some fun songs in there. 3/5
The better songs just kind of feel like lesser Rumours and I just don’t like some of Lindsey Buckingham’s songs
he vuelto y me ha gustado.
Album correcto 6.9/10 -> 3/5
not for me
So-so. Some decent tunes, but some head scratchers
Not the best Mac
That was certainly an album, less chaotic and obscure than smile, but still just a collection of scatterbrained thoughts and rhythms. At least could have it on in the background however
Tusk is one of those albums where ambition sort of outpaces enjoyment. It’s certainly bold there’s a lot of experimentation, a big budget, and a band clearly trying not to make Rumours again. But for me, that ends up being more interesting on paper than it is through the speakers. A lot of it just feels... flat. Not bad, but not gripping either. Lindsey Buckingham’s attempts to push the band into weirder territory are admirable in theory, but a few too many of the tracks wander into clunky, jagged spaces without a big payoff. Christine McVie’s songs are often the warmest, and Stevie Nicks adds her usual magic here and there, but even they seem like they’re holding back compared to past glories. I wouldn’t say it’s a bad album just a frustrating one. It’s like being promised a wild party and turning up to find people rearranging furniture in silence. Some moments shine, but too often, it plods.
The Rattitude of Fleetwood Mac.
By no measure in any way, as good as rumors
Has heard a few songs before but the whole thing. I know mostly the hits. Interesting, moody.
Ærligt så gør det ikke ret meget for mig, men så alligevel hen over weekenden fik jeg lyst til at høre det igen før de 4 albums som jeg ellers er bagud. Det må jo kunne et eller andet så?
Don’t know if I’m being “hard” on them because I expect great tunes from Fleetwood Mac. The first 1/3 of this album was strong but fell off sharply into average ballads the rest of the way.
Can definitely feel the dip after their first groundbreaking albums. The title track is a banger though. 2.5/5
3,5
As of yet, I'm undecided on Tusk. It's got some great tracks, for sure ("Storms" and "Sisters of the Moon" immediately come to mind), but much of its runtime feels a bit meandering. Most likely an album I'm going to have to come back to a few times to get a real feel for it.
Not as good as Rumours. This is a great album but I don't think there is a real hit, which is kinda what I listen to Fleetwood Mac for
3.5
Too long. Not a classic in my opinion. But I can forgive them since it's a nearly impossible task to follow up an album like "Rumours".
Storm & Beautiful Child.
You know a band have hit the big time when an album that sells 4 million and is certified double platinum is regarded as a commercial failure. The legend is that they went off the rails after Rumours and just couldn’t reproduce another super hit album. They didn’t fall off the rails; they - by which I mean Lindsay Buckingham - drove off the rails in a headlong assault on glossy mainstream normality, partly because the rise of punk had got under his skin. However Buckingham, Nicks and McVie, the three songwriters, are chalk, cheese and whatever the third one is. Stevie Nicks song and the big single from the album, Sara, is Rumours redux, mainstream 70s Mac, and Christine McVie’s two songs sound like Christine McVie. Ultimately Buckingham was right not to just record Rumours 2. He was never going to make the band relevant to punk fans, that was always a fantasy, and what you end up with is something like three solo albums moulded together. Buckingham should probably have got this out of his system with a solo project. All that said, he’s the only one of the three who demonstrates real breadth and variety and his songs, whilst not so easy to listen today, have purpose and integrity. Fun fact: band founder Peter Green guests on Brown Eyes. Eye Watering Fact: this album took 10 months to make and cost more than a million dollars, equivalent to about 3½ million now and far more than Rumours.
Country music, slides abound in first track. Not keen if all is like this! Sara is more like their later stuff, more shimmery and layered That's all for everyone has a nice feel Gets better throughout Best track - Sara/ That's all for Everyone/Sisters of the Moon/Not That Funny 3 stars
Very mid.
listened to again some good some just alright
idk fleetwood mac is nice! but also i never really care all that much! They've just never really resonated with me and this listening experience was similar to all the others i've had.. didn't hate it! also didn't care.
I own one Fleetwood Mac album. This is not it. Sometimes bands get criticized for always sounding the same. Sometimes they get criticized for sounding too different. This would be the latter. Outside of Sara, nothing feels like Rumors. That's too bad. 2.5 rounded to 3.
Its pretty good, exactly what you would expect from them in this era, it feels quite a lot more bloated than rumours a bit of the 50 cent syndrome, where you could cut a lot of the songs and it wouldn't be much worse. I think in general the female singers are much better than the male. The guitar solos and stuff are great as well. Just quite a lot of it really even feels generic for 70s pop/rock and not too interesting, I'm not sure I like them as much as some people, because rumours also didn't exactly blow me away. There are quite a lot of redeeming songs on here, and the storytelling (from all singers) is great, and quite surreal lyrics. Favourite songs: Over & over, Sara, storms, sisters of the moon, angel, brown eyes, never forget (This one is probably my overall favourite) Overall around 6/10
it's not terrible but it was pretty boring and dragged a LOT
Hard to believe that I’ve never heard this album before now, even though I’ve heard about it for years. Have to say on first listen I wasn’t blown away, though interesting hearing them exploring new sounds on this though. I’ll have to revisit at some point but for now it’s a 2.5 but the sun is shining so a 3.
I found this surprisingly boring
This was nice, recognisable from the more famous works of the mac but nothing in here is as well known. I think for good reason.
J - 3/5 Best Track - "Tusk" F - DNL
Good for the most part. But their peak has passed. Maybe too great for too long?
Not my favourite album from Fleetwood Mac, but still...it's Fleetwood Mac!
Wanted to like this one more
Good
This was rough. Not in the sense it was difficult to listen to, but in the sense that the entire album just seems rough around the edges, like it's 80% there but it was released before that final 20% of work was done. An enjoyable listen, but not what I would immediately jump to if I wanted a Fleetwood Mac listening session. 3/5
I liked some of the songs especially with the woman vocalist but not really what I like
Started great. Over & Over was really good, but everything after it was booooriiiing.
It’s not rumors
never reaches the power and passion of Rumours. other than the song Tusk, it wasn't very memorable
While Fleetwood is obviously one of the greatest bands to ever exist, this album does not exactly exemplify that. It's definitely not bad per se, it just falls flat when you think about how nearly every song on Rumours was a masterpiece in its own right. Again this album was enjoyable, but it's next to impossible to follow up Rumours even if you're Fleetwood Mac. The song Tusk is great though.
This massive and sprawling album sounded pretty good to be. It definitely needs more listens, though, as I don't remember a lot of it, but I liked it. It seems like when bands reach the peak of their commercial and critical success they either try to replicate that success or go all in in a completely different direction, and I'm glad Fleetwood Mac chose to do the latter. Key tracks: Sara That's All for Everyone Brown Eyes
to slow for my taste, but i liked tusk at the end
I suppose it was difficult to follow up Rumours. In this case, pretty blatantly obvious. Were they influenced by Talking Heads, or was it drugs? Probably both. As an album that is considered experimental, it definitely succeeded, as it's all over the place. There are some tracks I really like, and some I really dislike. Averages out to a 3/5 for me.
Had a few standout tracks, particularly some of the Stevie Nicks songs. Respect the experimentation and taking a left turn after Rumours, but a lot of things that didn't do much for me and still felt quite middle-of-the-road and uninteresting a lot of the time. Lyrics not great either but this gets extra points just because the best stuff on here is very good, but is just buried among a load of mediocre stuff
It was calm, it was chill. Nothing stood out. Would be good to put on in the background. Solid middle ground. Listened on 3 May 2025 in the car/in the earbuds
While it never quite reaches the heights of Rumours there is still a lot like about this album. Lots going on, some great, some good and unfortunately some mediocre. First time listening to this particular album will definitely listen again in the future
Fav: Sara Least Fav: The Ledge I think a double album of Fleetwood Mac was just a bit too much for me
Couple of bangers but overall it’s nothing special…
I think I’ve heard every song on this album either in my dentist‘s office or shopping at Trader Joe’s. In other words, it’s pleasant background music.
I enjoyed parts of this album.
I want to rate this higher, but experimental rock just doesn't cut it for me. Love Christine McVies' songs on this, tho. 3/5
Never listened to a Fleetwood Mac Album. Opening track is grabbing me right away. Does not appear to be any hits on this record. I’m excited about that. I really like the song “Sara”.
I love Fleetwood Mac, but this album is... different. Lately I've been playing it somewhat regularly, to try and see if it would grow on me. It has, to a certain extent. I've found that I love most of the Stevie Stuff. The Christine stuff is fine. But I find myself kind of annoyed by most of the Lindsey songs.
Took me a couple listens, possibly because grumpy, but have settled on this being fine with some addable songs. It's still a bit nothingy, even compared to other of their stuff that I like (The Chain, Dreams).
Pretty dry I hate to say. I can understand the need for this album to happen before you get something like Rumors
after hearing rumours everything’s worse
A totally fine and average album, but I thought it was really boring. Maybe it was novel and influential for its time, I don't really know, but it feels like I've listened to songs like these for a million times. I listened to it twice too and I don't remember a single song. I guess I'd be fine with it as background music, so it gets a 3.
Solid 3 stars - no major hits. Fav songs were "what makes you think you are the one" and "Sara"
It was ok, no stand out tracks for me fine as background music
Goede band. Rustige muziek, maar wel heel goed gedaan. Prima te luisteren album. ***
Album is a little bloated. Storms is a great track but it definitely feels like the members of this group were barely collaborating at this point
I have enjoyed Fleetwood Mac through all its various iterations from the hard blues led by Peter Green through the fabulous Oh Well to the chick-pop days of McVie and "Bleat-like -a-sheep Stevie," and I know this was an acclaimed release but for me it's all a bit muddy - nothing distinctive or outstanding.
all in all the album was rather a little boring, but I quiet enjoyed a few songs
I guess this is a cool album. Or I'm atleast supposed to think it's cool. The problem is this: Fleetwood Mac made Rumors a few years before this. That album is so good, that they should have just hung it up.
Lindsey Buckingham found new wave.
Overall: 6/10 This album's biggest sin is that it comes right after THAT album. It's second biggest sin is Lindsey Buckingham. That's a bit of a joke but there's some truth to it. While the rest of the band decided to keep up the same sound they perfected on Rumours, Mr. Buckingham went for a more experimental approach. I'm not positive about this but I'm pretty sure his songs are mixed differently because I could tell which songs were his before his voice even came in. The songs from Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie are pretty good for the most part. They both have beautiful voices (obviously) and seem to understand what made Rumours such a special album. Sadly, all the different sounds make for a very inconsistent album. It's rare for a band to follow up a mega hit with something that lives up to the same quality, and that's why I'm not being more harsh on this one. It's not an amazing album but there's some good tunes on here that any Fleetwood Mac fan would be happy to add to their playlists. Fav Song: Sara Least Fav Song: That's All for Everyone
Album was okay. Doesn’t have the stand out tracks as other albums. 3/5 Might listen again
No rumours
Not a big Fleetwood Mac fan, but it was ok with a couple of songs that I liked more.
I never really got the Fleetwood Mac love. They’re… fine? And this album was… fine. Big portions, though!
A 5 for Tusk and a 3 for Sarah for that iconic Fleetwood Mac sound but the rest is just Standard pop to me. Not sure about other reviewers’ comments about ‘manic’ and ‘rambling’ - have they listened yet to some of the post-punk and heavy metal albums yet? Tusk sounds fairly sane to me.
Not nearly as good as Rumors partially because they didn't have any real reason to make this album the best; they just needed to make an album. 3/5 stars
I like Rumours but am otherwise not a huge Fleetwood Mac fan. This album starts off with a few forgettable tracks before Sara, which is a solid one. "What makes you think you're the one" isn't a great track, right after. Storms has a certain hypnotic quality. Maybe I just prefer Nicks songs to Buckingham songs, which is generally true of their other albums as well. "That's All for Everyone" is a decent track though, then "Not that Funny" is just kind of goofy. "Sisters of the Moon" a solid track as well, so ya, I'm mostly a Nicks fan. "That's Enough for Me" is a dumb jangle. Then "Brown Eyes" is pretty cool lowkey sleeper track. "Beautiful Child" is pretty good. "Tusk" is a great track to close out the album. Overall, the whole album is kind of a mixed bag for me. But that's mostly how I feel about Fleetwood Mac in general. Their best moments are great, but there is a large amount of forgettable material in between. This certainly isn't quite the album that Rumours is. 3/5
Solid album - not my favorite fleetwood mac album by a long shot though.
My experience listening to this album I can only describe as pleasant. 3.8
Ja, det är ju inte Rumours direkt. Älskar låten Tusk. Annars ett okej album.
More experimental, all members developing into their own direction. Post-punk influences. All over the place, some interesting aggressive vocal choices. Buckingham songs are jarring.
This is a double album with twenty tracks. Maybe it is long because the group had three songwriters and they all wanted to get their songs on the album. I enjoyed listening to the album but this is not their best album. Fleetwood Mac and Rumours are better in my opinion. Three stars.
This was ok, but nothing really blew my socks off.
Don’t believe the hype about them
Stevie Nicks' voice is my kryptonite-like nails on a chalkboard. any song featuring her as lead makes me cringe. but Christine McVie has a calm, relaxing voice. I actually enjoyed a couple of the tracks featuring her as lead. but the album is just way too long. 2.5 stars due to Nicks' voice & length
Heard Tusk all the way through several times now, not sure I understand why it's so revered, I find it to be a pretty average collection of songs (couple of classics in there), don't really hear any sort of "but as an album" cohesion, honestly I find it kind of bland, ⭐⭐⭐
Enjoyable=)
The title track is a banger. The rest... Eh
some real bangers, but also a lot of filler, and it's way too long. that's enough for me indeed
Kevyt pop rock, vähän kantri. Vaihtelee vekkulien ja vakavampien kappaleitten välillä. Tykkään kyllä niistä vakavammista enemmän. Parhaat: Sisters of the Moon, Storms, Beautiful Child
Not bad, not amazing
Pretty good, a bit long
It’s not a great album but Tusk is up there with their best songs. Lifts it to a 3.
Quite disjointed and over indulgent in places (looking at you Buckingham). Would've benefited from not trying to get a double album out of it
Nobody has enough good songs for a double album
I liked it, Its probably a 7/10. Its just a little long but i like the vibe a lot and its got some great songs
Well I was curious heading in, knowing (and liking) only 2 songs from the album, but turns out, meh. So as I understand this was largely experimentation by Buckingham, trying to integrate into the post-punk new wave era. And for the most part that just didn't work. There's a few good songs on this, like the title track and Sara, the 2 that got the most airplay and were the ones I knew. The opening track is a lovely Christine McVie song, though it lacks a good hook. And so it does, either a bunch of "that's nice but it doesn't hook me" or "what were they thinking?" Unfortunately the latter outnumber the former.
Didn’t enjoy this as much as I was anticipating. It was alright.
it's not bad but I can't listen this type of music more than 5 min
Kind of a trash fire but there are still great moments and some individual brilliance manages to shine through.
This is such a poorly assembled album. Every other song is good enough, and the ones in between are sometimes unlistenable. You could literally cut half the songs out of this album and then have a middling to good Fleetwood Mac album. Instead, what we get here is the result of letting a band that's a fucking mess internally shit out a bunch of incoherent experimental songs in between bouts of sobriety (or elation) where they wrote songs that make them famous. It's not even just that the off songs are not good, they sound like they've been recorded in a corrugated steel hut as well. I'm all for bands experimenting with new stuff but maybe put out an album of just that so everyone can politely ignore it. Predictably the stuff where Stevie Nicks takes the lead are the best ones. It really is almost 1 decent song, then 1 bad song, then 1 decent. I don't understand how they put this all together at the end because it makes no sense. All that said, even the good songs aren't great, but they're good enough. I'm giving this a charitable 3, it probably deserves less.
An interesting turn off of what in my opinion is one of the greatest albums of all time. No standout singles but nothing bad either. It's good, I just won't find myself going back to it.
Definitely has its highs and lows, there are a few songs I probably wouldn’t listen to again, some I would listen to, but not put in my playlist, and some that I’ve put on my playlist. Solid 3 star album, not as high as Rumours.
Enjoyed.
Honestly not heard this album before despite knowing several Fleetwood Mac songs and I thought it felt a little disjointed. Compared to Rumours which is an absolute classic this left me feeling like it was a really good starting point for what should have been three different albums
Fun, quirky, folky. A variety of energy, downtempo and middle-of-the-road tunes. It's easy to hear the influence that this band has had on other more modern groups and how Fleetwood Mac has shaped music in general. This isn't typical of what I'd lean to listen to on a regular basis, but this sound has its place. It's nice.
I don't exactly dislike the album, but I also don't feel strongly about it. Was a fun listening, nonetheless
Over & Over 3.4 The Ledge 3 Think About Me 3.5 Save Me a Place 2.8 Sara 3.1 What Makes You Think You're the One 3.3 Storms 3.3 That's All for Everyone 3 Not That Funny 2.7 Sisters of the Moon 3.4 Angel 3.3 That's Enough for Me 3.1 Brown Eyes 3.5 Never Make Me Cry 3 I Know I'm Not Wrong 3 Honey Hi 3.2 Beautiful Child 3.4 Walk a Thin Line 3.2 Tusk 3.5 Never Forget 3.5 Score: 3.21
This album has two of my very favorite songs, but it is not their best album.
Pretty mellow, but kind of in one ear out the other.
It’s good. A little long for my taste but
ok
solid album
Fleetwood Mac doesn't really miss but I don't know if it had the moments of brilliance I wanted for a higher rating
There were some nice instrumentals. 3 out of 5
Not my favorite of theirs but not bad.
A mixed bag of sounds, and quality(reminds me of what System Of A Down did with "Steal This Album!"). It really is a box of chocolates(or tusks, if you prefer). Favorite Song: "That's All For Everyone".
I've always wanted to like this approach from the band more than I really did. It doesn't NEED to be Rumors, but the fact that the band intentionally tried to distance themselves from the appeal of that record almost makes me dislike this one more than I should. Yeah, it's different, experimental, but what is the production here? Is it just me, or do the drums blow out every track? The songs themselves are...fine, if just a bit too safe.
Good but not great, hard to follow rumours and this falls well short
It's a bit long and lacks overall consistency I think, but has some highlights. Cutting some of the less-good tracks out would have benefited this one I think.
This album felt like it spanned multiple genres, but unfortunately for the album I don't listen to many of them often. There are some truly great songs on the record, but there are more that I had to make a concentrated effort not to skip and would never listen to again.
Nothing really stuck out to me. Sounded nice enough though.
A few good tracks but not the best Mac album
First? 3,5 /5 Again? 2,5/5
nothing special, almost boring
Definitely a unique musical realm created by the band but Buckingham’s quirky contributions stand out while the rest is pretty flat. 2nd disk noticeably better than first.
I remember when this album came out, feeling very disappointed. It was the follow up to Rumors and I wanted it so much to be like that album. Of course I didn’t understand it at the time, but this was their experimental departure from “mainstream” success. I’ve listened to the album many times since and the only songs on there that are not forgettable for me are Sara and Tusk. There are other songs on this album worth remembering, I just refuse to do so.
Not a high batting average for a 20 track album. Never particularly offensive though, just kind of drags along for 75 minutes. Some highlights, some lowlights, could have easily been shortened to a single LP.
I think I'm kinda over Fleetwood. Actually yeah. I would gladly never have a conversation about Fleetwood Mac ever again.
*scrambling to say something intelligent* uhhhhh this is the Dragon New Warm Mountain of White Albums this record's biggest offense is that a lot of it sounds verrry similar. there's some definite standouts but across 1h15m it can be hard not to get lost in the sameness of it
Really interesting album, and what a back story in terms of cost and approach….
Not their best album but fairly enjoyable
Just ok, though i’ve always liked the title song.
Obviously, I've listened to 'Rumours', but never any of their other stuff really (other than the hits) and I'd never even heard of nor seen this album. It's a pretty long album (albeit with short songs), so I did flick through some of the songs as I wasn't in the mood for the genre - but I can definitely see myself in more of a mood to listen to it in other times. I do prefer the jauntier songs, but there's a general pleasant folk feel to the album. I will say, the longer songs are the more boring ones, and are ones I'm more inclined to skip.
Not quite my vibe but it has some nice summertime vibe songs. My personal favorite is probably The Ledge, it just has a really fun and bouncy energy.
I like parts of this album but not as much as Rumours.
Not my favorite of theirs. 3
The songs are mostly good but are a bit too soft and sparse for me. And as an album it's just too long. I love the title track though.
Long album with a few hits. Boring 70’s early 80’s
Soft Fleetwood Mac album with fewer recognizable songs
Definitely not as good as it's predecessor, but I respect the attempt to try and do something a bit different from Rumours. This album does achieve being different, but is a bit less cohesive. Overall not bad, but not great.
