Reviews (page 3 of 8)

This is a fun electronica album.

Pretty dope

Laptop music

On dirait du Moby!

A unique, hidden gem.

Awesome and unique. Fun electronic dance music with some cool samples. Made me keep listening to other songs in the same genre after the music ended. 4.3

Usually not a fan of this (is it electronic? EDM maybe?) but it worked as an afternoon office vibe.

Very enjoyable and calming for the most part

Genuinely great music. It's nothing I'd want to actively listen to but perfect for running in the background. This is a much better ambient album than that airport ambience one from last week. Still there are some weird/annoying parts in here, that I don't quite like.

do you remember how astronomically large drop the pressure was when this was released? it was SHACK proportions.

Excellent

Really enjoyed this album.

Do my ears deceive me or is this EDM??? I had long ago given up on expecting to hear my favourite genre on this list, so today was a pleasant surprise. I liked this a lot. Not every track was a winner but there were some awesome songs here. "Drop the Pressure" sounds like it could have been made yesterday. More of a 4.5. I'll definitely be saving some of these songs to my phone.

Fjörugt rafpopp, alveg hægt að tjútta við þetta.

Poor man's Daft Punk? Maybe a little, but I still enjoyed listening to it.

The overall sound of this album seems like a nice mix of Daft Punk's "Homework" and "Discovery". Its a genuinely interesting, solid listen and I'll definitely revisit it.

Love house music so much. I remember hearing some of these back when it dropped but I just wasn't ready for it at the time. Really enjoyed revisiting it though .What an upbeat, catchy album.

Shockingly great! Just all around good, unique, jammy beats. Feels like a late night out at a club on a Mediterranean island. 8/10

Will it Destroy Rock and Roll? No Name aside, it's a great showing of soft rock and other more lush influences to electronic music to create different sounds. Not as gripping as most album, but does have value, especially as background music for focus

Really enjoyed this. I listened to Mylo quite a bit in the mid 2000s with Dr Pressure and In my Arms. Other tracks, very similar and enjoyable on this album. 4/5

Decent album

A nice mix of headphones electronica and dance floor euphoria. Some songs have a playful spirit with lots of fun details. Others are club-ready bangers, like “Paris Four Hundred.” The back half of the album is particularly packed with dance tracks. Excellent stuff, really fun.

A fine album by normal people standards but 11/10 for painting minis too. #LML (love my life!) Favorite Track: Destroy Rock & Roll

This is the kind of house music I can behind. Really funky, fun to listen to, and a great album to vibe to. 4/5

House. Está bastante bien... Un 4.

Was not expecting much from this. Found it hard to fault in the end. Great listen and some absolute classics to be had

Back in 2005, we threw a retirement party for my co-judge, and in those days I'd make a "mix-tape" CD for special occasions. In this case, I made an extra half-dozen copies and if anyone said they liked the music, they could take one home. Due to the popularity of the CD's opening track, "Drop the Pressure", I didn't have enough to go around and had to burn more CDs the next day. It's a great track and there are a number of strong supporting players. The music is unabashedly simple, nothing special or ground-breaking, but the songs are melodic and pleasant to listen to.

Not at all what I expected. Will listen to again. 3.5 outta 5

Pretty good for electronic. Not sure it accomplishes its goal though.

Very good album and enjoyable

Really enjoyed this. Listened to it a couple of times. Pretty mellow.

Mellow uplifting house music, very much influenced by Daft Punk. Almost every track is good, with some star tracks. Good length and diverse sound.

I expected to hate this and enjoyed being proven wrong

Interesting - funky and at times ambient - but in general good focus music. Where does it stand in the pantheon of half a century of pop music? I guess somewhere in the middle - but I like it so I’ll give it a little extra.

Good, chilled house and an early mover towards lo-fi / chill hop sounds

Enjoyed!

I’m not too familiar with a lot of dance music, so I’m going into todays album with an open mind. Interestingly, somewhere online said that Mylo is French dance music, but I also read he’s from Scotland. Not a clue what that means then. Songs I already knew: Drop The Pressure Favourites: Drop The Pressure, In My Arms I was very surprised when I realised I knew Drop The Pressure. Admittedly, I think this is because it was referenced in a song by The Lancashire Hotpots many years ago when I then must have looked into at the time. I loved the sampling of Betty Davis Eyes (one of the best songs ever and I’ll fight you if you disagree) in In My Arms. Overall, for a genre that I usually tend to avoid, that was really enjoyable and I’ll probably keep coming back to this for a while.

Excellent Electronic Album. Loved it and favorited it!

Probably the best time for this album to be played. I am off work tomorrow and it's really sunny outside. This is perfect sit in the garden with a beer kind of music and I was all for it.

Really good; not familiar with Mylo at all, but another artist that sounds to me to be DJ Shadow adjacent. Loved the track with beats put over a religious coalition listing what I have to assume are "unwholesome" artists, and it's just a list of everyone...including Cyndi "Looper", lol.

I liked this one. The songs were a bit too long, but otherwise I enjoyed it quite a bit. 3.75/5

Really enjoyed this

Honestly a lot of fun , more than I expected, and pretty ideal for doing chores. I really like that it is a lot more harmonically rich than most dance/electronic.

Wow. Rare I hear something that sounds so familiar that I've never listened to before. Shades of Daft Punk, The Avalanches, bit of lo-fi house etc. Definitely one to explore more of.

Really enjoyed it.

honestly a pretty good album, enjoyed it more than expected.

8/10 really dig this a bit odd for an electronic album but still pretty darn good

Best Song: Muscle Cars. I feel like I've never heard a song that's so blippy-bloopy while also being on such a low register. I like. Worst Song: Musclecar (Reform Reprise). The lyrical conceit of "listing a bunch of topical things" was already exhausted in "Destroy Rock & Roll", making this song feel less original. Overall: Really enjoyable electronica album from a band I've absolutely never heard of, but feels like they must have influenced groups that I have. Perfect for background music, cooking especially, as it's got just enough energy to dance to.

Nice funky fresh start to my Monday

Ehhh . Bad parts in the good ruin a lot. 3.5

strangely cohesive. love the variety of sounds and the samples are used really well. its like electropop but like way more indie and a bit more chill but then the sampling is like daft punk. pretty cool

Feels very locked in 2004 in a way that makes me feel like Derek Zoolander. Can see this guy fitting in with the likes of Avalanches but without the timelessness.

listen

Never heard of this and was pleasantly surprised. A lot of the lyrics are just lists of things repeated several times.

This was really delightful, a really nice sound that I enjoyed quite a bit. Upbeat club electronic music, maybe? Hard to describe.

There was so much enjoyment from this album. Just a freaking charcuterie board of samples and sounds. I would have preferred more cohesion or that next step. This felt like the start.

An artist with 100% of his records on the list of 1000 greatest albums ever! What a feat. Unfortunately, Mylo has released only one record, but still, great try! And actually, it's really good album. It's an electronic release, and I'm no expert on that, but compared to Basement Jaxx I've listened to couple weeks ago, it's more of a dance-orientated piece. I would say it's not any specific genre, just some good dance music. My favourite song would be "Paris Four Hundred".

Superb house album. It's enjoyable from start to finish. It didn't destroy rock and roll but the reference is probably just to the song and the ramblings from the christian cult that's sampled in the song. It doesn't quite reach 5/5 but it's close.

Excellent electronic music of the era

Did not destroy rock and roll but also did not destroy my soul

Loved! My kinda electro music

This album is a delightful surprise. Electronic music with heart. A lot of empty space, not too hectic, dainty, light, airy. My guy almost made a techno album? And, yet, DR&R rises above the ashes and stuns with its calming and accessible electronic dance sensibilities. I love this album. Its good.

Never heard this before, listened about three times and it grew on me every listen.

Love the title track. The cars... Stevie nicks... Men at work...

Really great

Fun. Would probably listen again. Only 2 or so skips.

Nimi oli entuudestaan häilyvästi tuttu, muttei kellot soinut.

I was surprised to like it so much - it's definitely not something I'd have picked up if it wasn't for this list. But I really liked it, especially the more downtempo parts in the beginning and ending. Tracks such as Valley of the Dolls, Sunworshipper, Zenophile, Need You Tonite, Emotion 98.6 gave me a nice dancey vibe with a bit of nostalgia which suits this early autumn weather just perfectly. At times sounded a lot like Royskopp, which is perfectly fine with me. Drop the Pressure is pure fun. 4.0/5, will definitely be going back to this one

Better than expected. Not many lyrics, but good beats

This was far better than I expected.

amazing, brilliant, spectacular, show stopping, completely not ever been done before - it’s been so lonely this week. I wonder if it’ll stay this way or if i’ll just have to suck it up this year :/

08/24/2022 This album was sooo fun and truly exceeded my expectations. It’s wild that this album is almost 20 years old, but some of the songs sound insanely modern (looking at you sunworshipper). Also I could immediately envision the gays throwing it back at Heat nightclub for a song like Drop the Pressure. I listened to this album while I was working in studio today and couldn’t stop bopping my lil head!!! It does get a bit repetitive and lackluster toward the end, but I will definitely be listening to this album again. — Today was great! We presented our models assigned earlier this week and one of my classmates said that mine were the most well crafted in front of the entire class, I was SHOOK. But yeah, I whipped out some drawings really fast and then attended the school’s back to school party and talked to lots of thesis students who were all very nice. I went to my landscape architecture class and DIED bc it was outside and it was humid and hot ASFFFFF, however we got to go into this mini museum installation on campus about things that thrive through human contact but have grown out of human control. 9am class tomorrow morning, still need to read. Good night <3

I liked it. Good music to work to. Chill.

Great electronic album. Loved most of the tracks. Never quite get why artists add skipping to their tracks 🤷‍♂️

This takes me back to the CSU uni bar in 2004. A few tracks try crooked rolls and beats, but overall pretty fun. Best tracks Drop the pressure , Sunworshipper, In My Arms

My first thought was who the fuck is Mylo, never heard of 'em! But it turns out I've heard "Drop the Pressure" dozens of times and always assumed it was a Daft Punk tune. I guess that's where this album sits? About half way between Daft Punk and Röyksopp? Hmmm, I'd probably give this 3.5 stars if I could, but I'm in a good mood so will round up. Fave track - "Drop the Pressure", I guess. It's the main banger...

Good album.

Chill and fun, kind of disliked the title track honestly but I guess I'm just not into the repetition of the spoken parts in both that and Sunworshipper

Better than I expected; pleasantly surprised with some of the tracks

Surprisingly nice working vibes!

I really enjoyed this one. Never heard of it before but recently started playing drums and this is exactly the kind of album I enjoy playing to. Heavy emphasis on rhythm and bass with pleasant melodies.

I enjoyed this album. Quite a variety of feels throughout. Sometimes reminiscent of older Daft Punk, sometimes had more of a Portishead feel. Not perfect start to finish, but would definitely listen again.

Good, electric

this was sick

Premier album que je ne connaissais même pas de nom Prefs: Valley of the Dolls, Sunworshipper, Muscle Cars, Guilty of Love, Paris Four Hundred, Destroy Rock & Roll, Emotion 98.6 Moins pref: Drop the Pressure

Part RJD2, part Daft Punk, Part 2ManyDJs, part Boards of Canada, Mylo's sole album is solid entry overall in the IDM/house/electronica genre. The first two tracks are enticing and mellow, the ones that follow ("Muscle Cars", "Drop the Pressure" and "In My Arms") are absolute dancefloor bangers, and the rest of the album flows neatly from one song to the next. A special mention should go out to the title track, with its hilarious sample of a Christian fundamentalist's rant here turned on its head to become a celebration of everything that gathers us all here on this very app. That some music fans in this group can't understand that *Destroy Rock & Roll* is first and foremost an ironic title--or pretend not to understand it--is baffling to me (see some of those 1/5 reviews at the bottom of the page). Some people *do* have a very short attention span, don't they? Well... Listening to one album a day is an arduous process, i'll give them that... :) That being said, that *one* review claiming this music is the sort of of stuff you hear while you're on hold on the phone might *also* have a point, and it made me laugh, I admit it. It's indeed probable that the album's beats and grooves sound a little dated to some ears today. Yet one could argue that there are still enough little touches here and there to make such sound timeless in its own special way (vocal samples, funky basslines, vocoder-tinged vocals, ambient layers, etc.). On a side note, it must also be pointed out that *Destroy Rock & Roll* foretold the mash-up craze of the mid-aughts. I don't know if we can *really* thank Mylo for that (that craze deflated pretty quickly, and this for good reasons), but there's no arguing he was ahead of the curve when he released that first album of his. *Destroy Rock & Roll*, might not be an essential listen for some, but to me it still deserves its four stars, if only for this--not to mention the fact that the record displays richness, inventivity and, most of all, a very solid list of tracks. Number of albums left to review or just listen to: 966 Number of albums from the list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 14 Albums from the list I *might* include in mine later on: 8 (including this one) Albums from the list I will *not* include in mine (as I think many others are more important): 11 Albums I might not be able to judge (some might end up on my final list but it's because I recognize how culturally important they are): 2

Someone else has said in here that they’ve already heard this album every time they’re on hold, which is accurate. Also you you what, it’s pretty good! What’s wild is this album came out in 2004 and had a remaster in 2005. I guess it’s because it didn’t come out in North America for a bit.

Melodic, chill electronic music. A little dash of humor ("Missing Persons Duran Duran Duran Duran...") makes it darn delightful. A major mood lifter. Fave Songs: Otto's Journey, Zenophile, Emotion 98.6, Valley of the Dolls, Rikki, Paris Four Hundred

A very enjoyable start. Valley of the Dolls is meh, but Sunworshipper is good fun, Muscle Cars is atmospheric, Drop the Pressure is an absolute TUNE and In My Arms is actually more enjoyable than its sample source. A rarity, the back end of the album is actually better! Destroy Rock and Roll was a favourite back in the day, but it gets glitchier and a bit more disco towards the back and all of it is really enjoyable. A really strong album. House for those who don't normally house!

Bangers

Definitely liked this way more than a lot of dance music I hear

Upbeat. I'd listen again.

I feel like this isn't actually that amazing but I'm a real sucker for this kind of electronic music

This is bumping

Very cool!

This is a stone cold classic, fully worth 5/5. Nevertheless, I'm giving it 4.

This one grew on me. The more I listened, the more I liked it.

Some pretty enjoyable tracks, they all sort of run together though. I don't love electronic music that has no words, because of that reason. This was actually pretty fun to listen to, but I didn't save any songs for whatever reason.

House. Está bastante bien...

A nice blend of sounds, and though it's more than 15 years since its release, it feels relevant this days. I've heard some of the songs on those youtube videos to study and chill.

So laid back! Music to chill to all night long

love the glitch style

8,5/10 ludomatics.

Me gustó mucho. Bienvenido Mylo a mi vida. 4/5

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Smooth synth-pop but with enough edge to keep it interesting.

Great tunes. Shame he only ever did one!

Some lo-fi, some electronic instrumental. Worth another listen

Quite good background electronic-y music.

I really felt this album. A+ minus a few duds.

Kinda electronic dance. Not all tracks tho. Dr Pressure a classic. 2nd track was cool chill down tempo. In My Arms another big tube. Had no idea who this guy was or that he was responsible for these tunes. Some Chemical Brothers electronic battle weapon vibes. really enjoyed it. 4/5

Surprisingly fun and listenable, a lot of good stuff but nothing big that wowed me. Waffling between and 3 and a 4 here.

Very good

I didn't anticipate this sound from the title. Very mellow and listened to this while in a very dark place. It helped with optimism a little.

Very nice

would listen 2 again

Fun. Nice chill album

Dope house album, a few bops, great theme overall 4.1/5

cool & electrick Best Track = “Destroy Rock & Roll”

I very much enjoyed this album. It kept me groovin' through the workday, and it had a lot of interesting sounds.

Brings back memories of an Irish girl. Lots of beeping.

good electronic album. Would definitely listen again.

solid album

Really good electronic

Great techno, some cool chill tracks on there as well.

Dance classic. Brings back memories of being off my face at Reading festival

Alright background-y music. Rock & roll has nothing to worry about. Not worthy of this list, but many albums on here aren't. Didn't hate it. 3*

2004's Destroy Rock & Roll by Mylo — would I put a song or two on a party mix for nostalgic pals? Yeah, probably. And yet, it's the sole album entry in his catalogue thus far, and unless he's been nursing a decades long comeback, I suspect this may be it from Mylo. From what I can tell it was a phenomenon in the UK and critics could appreciate his soft rock cut and paste process...feeding all the samples, sounds, and style through a singular dance- and den-friendly lens. He manages to sustain his vibe over the running time. And yet, and yet, on the track Destroy Rock & Roll on the album Destroy Rock & Roll Mylo lists several recording artists. Are they targets? Are they inspirations? Are they alternatives to this album? Despite its grooves and craftsmanship, I can't help but feel in my own response that I'd rather be listening to many of them over this record.

Are they just naming favorite artists?

utrolig behageligt

I bought this when it came out but I've not listened to it for years. Listening now, I don't think I've missed out on much. It's a pleasant enough, mostly mellow, album but it's overly long and pretty middle of the road.

Valley of the Dolls 3.3 Sunworshipper 3 Muscle Cars 2.7 Drop the Pressure 2.8 In My Arms 2.4 Guilty of Love 3.2 Paris Four Hundred 3 Destroy Rock & Roll 3.4 Rikki 2.6 Otto's Journey 2.8 Musclecar (Reform Reprise) 3.3 Zenophile 3 Need You Tonight 3 Emotion 2.8 Score: 2.95

Good memories

Not bad but a little flat, like something is missing.

Sorry they didn’t destroy rock and roll.

3.25 Fun and catchy

Valley of the Dolls - 3.5/5 Sunworshipper - 3.5/5 Muscle Cars - 3.5/5 Drop the Pressure - 3/5 In My Arms - 3.5/5 Guilty of Love - 3/5 Paris Four Hundred - 3/5 Destroy Rock & Roll - 3/5 Rikki - 3/5 Ottos Journey - 3.5/5 Musclecar Reform Reprise - 3.5/5 Zenophile - 3/5 Need You Tonite - 3.5/5 Emotion 98.6 - 3/5 A relatively fun listen that, in my opinion, really didn't challenge the boundaries of house/downtempo genres. Granted it was good, but I've heard better electronic music. Was it a good listen? Yes. Did it deserve to be a part of the 1001 albums I *needed* to hear before I died? Possibly not. Overall: 3/5 Favorites: In My Arms

3.5 Stars

Sine nice stuff here but really boring in terms of house music, a couple bangers but mostly filler

I love the pulse and momentum of this album. It flies by with one big beautiful beat after another and a smart integration of samples. Listening, I was mostly just enjoying the general dancey vibe and bopping my head along with the music, but In My Arms and Drop the Pressure stood out as especially striking singles. It's a shame this is Mylo’s only release as it would have been awesome to hear more from him.

Mylo gets a solid to high 3 from me, the best parts remind me of The Orb, easy listening electronica. It doesn’t stay as good as the first 3 tracks for me and overall is too long for what it is but it’s a nice place to hang out with some proper highlights.

Cool vibes.

I don't hate this.

Too much electronic sounds for my liking!

I can't believe they destroyed rock and roll 😢. 2.5 stars.

I would enjoy this more at a club after two drinks.

My rating 2.6 More electronica. Meh!

Start - This was a nice surprise. It wasn't great but definitely something I can see myself listening to when it came out. It doesn't do much for me right now, but its at least something I can add into a playlist in the future. Update - halfway through, there isn't anything I would add. Even the most known song Drop The Pressure song didn't do it for me. I think I need more context or info about Mylo to be invested. I think that's the problem with this list, or its just a problem with me. The song Destroy Rock & Roll is good and can see myself listening to again. Not much else here to grab onto.

It's fine, but dance music is not really my jam.

Why does this sound like the soundtrack to Animusic?

Buenisimoooooo

Idc this is fuuuuunky

Chill lofi beats to study to ass music

Mostly lovely, largely instrumental, great beats. A few songs are a little too redundant/weird when they add words.

Favorite Track: Paris 400

Enjoyed this more than I expected, simple and groovy

It was chill, decently nice to listen to. There was just nothing that I really latched on to, it rather quickly became background noise. The whole album sounded like those Daft Punk tests tracks

This album had chill beats, perfect for the background to a party where you don’t want the music to become overbearing. I’m not sure if this is what they mean by house music. Good listen overall.

electronica, bastante variada, estilo funk algunas, muchos samples, 0 voz, no ritmo alto, bailable, bien de fondo para no prestar mucha atención, 3/5

I actually enjoyed the chill beats. What I did not enjoy was the weird repeated talking throughout a few of the songs. Other than that, I liked the album.

That was pretty cool. I'll definitely be listening to that one again

not bad, kinda fun, lots of weird samples

I put off listening to this album because the title, Destroy Rock & Roll, kind of pissed me off. Looking at the reviews, clearly it provoked the same reaction in others. Now I'm finally listening to this, and I appreciate the album title more after realizing it accomplished exactly what it set out to do. Mylo ate up the music of the 70s and 80s and shat it out into this album. Is he setting out to destroy rock and roll, or the person he used to be when he listened to it? I don't know. I don't care. Is the music good? It's okay; I mean, it's the kind of music that would suit some dude wearing 400 dollar noise cancelling headphones as he programs and listens to his Spotify played titled "work." that has 900 tracks.

Destroy Rock’n’Roll Drop the Pressure and Destroy Rock’n’Roll are playlist staples, and I likef In Your Arms, but I’m not sure I’ve listened to the album in full - although I have a vague memory of buying it. Anyhow, Drop the Pressure and Destroy Rock’n’Roll do still stand out as excellent tracks, alongside In Your Arms, but the rest of it, while enjoyably solid-to-good, never quite feels lifts off, missing the catchiness and dynamism of those three songs There are some great 70s and 80s samples, most obviously on In Your Arms, but I particularly like Need You Tonite with its Stay With Me till Dawn sample and the very nice strings. And the George Duke sample in Guilty of Love sounds a lot like the grid music in Mario Kart. I don’t think it’s quite a 4 - it’s missing the elan and drama of Daft Punk or the rave-psychedelia of The Chemical Brothers, but it is an enjoyably well made and relatively undemanding dance-house-pop album. 3. 💪💪💪 Playlist submission: Destroy Rock’N’Roll

Ooo this is the stuff. The nature of the samples - soft rock and Magic-radio friendly - gives this its carefree air of late-70s, uplifting disco. It's DJ Shadow on roller-skates. Unfortunately it loses momentum quite significantly on the second half (aside from the punchy 'Otto's Journey'), producing a glossy string-based atmosphere, such as on 'Emotion 98.6'. It certainly feels more throwaway than the side-one bangers. Ever so nearly a four.

Some really good songs but overall meh

Not bad!

the first couple tracks were great afterwards it was just yeah alright yeah. good album to ride bike to

I don’t know if it’ll destroy rock and roll, but I thought this was pretty good. Would make good music to have on at a party, but I don’t think I’ll sit down with it again. Closing track was the strongest.

Gets an extra star for patriotism, but this album doesn't grab me sadly

FAVS (top 3): drop the pressure, guilty of love, musclecar mençoes honrosas: muscle cars, zenophile, need you tonite gente é um album bom?

This one was good but not great. Solid production and usage of samples. Need You Tonite is very reminiscent of Rock Your Body by Justin Timberlake. Favorites were Drop The Pressure, Otto’s Journey, and Musclecar.

Slightly more energetic “on hold” music in my opinion. Nah for a 5 star Ya right for a 4 star Meh, maybe for a 3 star Well, I guess that sums up this album perfectly then Good day to you, sir

Lofi beats to relax chill or study to but the beta i guess

Quite OK stuff in this genre. Nice grooves and works really well on the background of office Monday.

I’m not really into electronic music. But this was fun. I might listen to it again.

Definitely one of the better techno albums I've heard, lots of catchy stuff and slightly less repetitive than others

Chill EDM music. Lots of ‘80’s samples, and a ‘70’s/‘80’s feel on most tracks. Enjoyable listen.

there's a really good EP in there somewhere

Low-end 3. More hit or miss than most electronic stuff. Zenophile/Valley two best on here but some of this (including title track) is terrible

2,7 Highlights: Drop the Pressure, Zenophile

Favorite Track: Sunworshipper

Not usually into EDM stuff, but I was kind of vibing with this one. Just need to be in the right mood for it I guess.

Such a mess of an album. Half the songs are interesting and weird. The other half are boring and weird. A few of these are going to be repeat listens of mine.

2004 album

Like one long DJ mix... alternating between hypnotic, spoken-word dance tracks and electronica. It dips in quality by the halfway point but then picks itself up in the last few songs that remind me of Moby. Does the title reflect the artist's intention to deconstruct and remix rock and roll into dance? I took a look at the samples in Wikipedia and it borrows from a lot of retro tracks.

Interesting “trance rock(?),” if not a little repetitive at times. Still a good background listen.

Valley Of the Dolls - 4/5 Sunworshipper - 3/5 Musclecars- 4/5 Drop The Pressure - 4.5/5 In My Arms - 2.5/5 Guilty Of Love - 3/5 Paris Four Hundred - 3/5 Destroy Rock & Roll - 2/5 Rikki - 3.5/5 Otto’s Journey - 3/5 Muscle Car - 2.5/5 Zenophile - 3/5 Need You Tonite -2/5 Emotion 98.6 - 3/5

Bizarre mais ok

7/10 - A strong electronic album, not too hardcore, remember clubbing to this back in the 2000s, can see a lot of complainers though, honestly we need more of this rather than another generic 70s album

bleeps & bloops, some samples and decent melodies

This has it's moments and it's decent as some background noise while working, but that's about all this is good for.

its alright

Det var ganske behagelig, god jobbemusikk

Alright but doubt I will revisit

It actually is pretty cool electronic. Does it Destroy Rock and Roll? Absolutely not haha. At times it takes itself way too seriously like "now THIS is art". Aside from that I enjoyed it.

Basically good pop electronic music. I don't know if I'm having an unfair minor adverse reaction to it because it has a couple of commercially successful singles on. There was some nice atmospheric stuff and some funky house type stuff in the second half that I enjoyed.

Like most of the electronica albums I've heard on here, it starts out okay but by the end I've had quite enough.

Not absolutely terrible but was willing it to end about 25 minutes in. Interesting concept, Drop The Pressure and In My Arms are great. Rest was meh.

oday’s listen was Destroy Rock & Roll by Mylo, and I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to. It opens in a very chilled, almost too-relaxed way to the point where I wondered if it might drift into the background completely. But as the album progresses, it finds its groove and really settles into what it does best. There isn’t a huge amount of variety, and after a while the tracks do start to blend into one another. That said, it works brilliantly as laid-back, feel-good background music. This isn’t an album packed with big shifts or dramatic moments it’s more about atmosphere and vibe. When you lean into that, it becomes a really enjoyable listen. Favourite tracks: “Drop the Pressure”, “In My Arms” and “Destroy Rock & Roll” are great fun and full of energy. I also really enjoyed “Sunworshipper”. Least favourite tracks: Beyond the standout singles, some of the other tracks feel a bit samey and repetitive. Album artwork: A cool cover. I really like the colours. Simple but effective.

It's broken now

Mid Chillern synth Rolig Ingenting spesielt

Really feels like this is the sources for some of the pop electro vibes that dominated the late 2000s and early 2010s.

Like music for a mediocre game. Would’ve been SO much better without the vocal tracks.

A mixed bag. I like the vibes at the start, especially to work to. As it goes, it lost its appeal.

Was good background music while I got things done but won't go back. Better DJ albums out there.

I was not previously familiar with the artist or album. This is an electronic dance album. It is mostly instrumental, but does use some vocal loops as well. It was interesting to hear once, but nothing particularly stood out to me. I wouldn't mind hearing it again but I doubt I would ever seek it out.

Fun with some interesting samples and good beats. Nice background listening but nothing exceptional. But worth a listen.

riding daft punk's coattails in a goodway. A little more chill but still very disco/dance celebratory electronica.

Interesting. I appreciate the creativity that went into each mix. Every song is mixed well and has a great flow to it. Not my style, but still an overall enjoyable listen. Great music to zone out to. The title track "Destory Rock n' Roll" is definitely my favorite.

Alright

Not sure if it will destroy rock and roll but it’s a chill album, not bad for background listening maybe not something I would miss out too much on though.

Okay, I'm two songs in and I get it. This guy was doing great lo-fi hip-hop and sampling in 2005. It's good, it was so fresh at the time. Alright, never mind, the lo-fi was just one song. But he's doing some cool sampling and mixing throughout the album.

I've only been doing this for 50 days, and have already heard 2 better electronic album than this one. Still I quite like the hypnotizing factor of electronics, so it's not gonna be slanderd.

Chillll back half

Love that my boys from Queen got a mention let's gooooo

This is ok. It is a little bit like hold music for the first half, but gets more interesting after the flip. Destroy Rock & Roll is pretty good, reeling off all these artists that are bringing about the downfall of western civilisation due to break dancing, including <checks notes> Christine McVie, The Alan Parsons Project, Patti Smith, Huey Lewis and the News, Men At Work and REO Speedwagon. Oh, and Cyndie Looper too, whoever that may be.

wait what i don’t wanna destroy rock and roll wait dont do that no no nooo.!!!!!! this album was pretty danceable but i didn’t dance as i was playing animal crossing while this was going on in the back but i did like the beats and it was upbeat. it was a house album im sssuming but i liked it. i gotta get into house music as the only house music artist i listen to is deadmau5 but i like this album tho especially the last track. this one track stood out to me and they mentioned a lot of artists pretty cool t track. 7/10

I liked this more than most electronic albums. It was easy to vibe with. Destroy rock and roll was a super cool song.

Some familiar tracks here. Good flow, generally enjoyable to listen to. Nothing stands out as a highlight though.

Faded a little but has some good stuff

I can see why this would have done so well in 2004, where rereleases of 70s & 80s songs were so prevalent. I’m not gonna skip the songs if it comes up, but after a minute, you’ve heard most of the song.

This is an OK album but there isn’t much more to say than that Yes it’s nice to listen to, yes it’s impressive that it was mainly made solo on a laptop (but hey there is a tonne of stuff like that on Bandcamp that’s better), and yes it is slightly unusual in the fact that it uses a lot of soft rock type samples. None of that explains why this is in the 1001 records list though

Fun Scottish house record. Don't know why it was on this list, but it's not bad

Kinda cool but gets boring imo I would rate it a 3 just because I went from dancing to sleeping and then dancing again but then sleeping again

I think this is something I could come back to.

Repetitive. Pretty good for working if you can completely ignore the strange lyrics. Beats were strong and interesting.

New to me.. not bad. Another "recency bias" add to the list, I'm sure but still, enjoyable background music.

It’s good but it does feel like a bedroom producer album

Got slightly boring towards the middle but overrall decent, groovy Caught myself bobbing my head a few times 6.4/10

It's okay, but an album of widely instrumental grooves has to be much better to make the list

So good tracks on this, not normally my thing.

This is an interesting one, because I actually really enjoyed it but I also definitely could have died before listening to it and it would have been fine.

I Took Off On My Bicycle 1001 Albums Generator 194 (12/30/2025) Destroy Rock & Roll is the only album that Scottish producer Mylo made, and it is some of the most chill, laid-back house music that I have ever heard. I really enjoy how Mylo uses repeated spoken samples to add an additional rhythmic element on these songs. The album starts pretty strong, especially with the first two songs, but it definitely feels too long. Additionally, a couple of songs sound pretty dated now in their production, but overall, Mylo makes a pretty good effort here. 3.5/5, rounded down to a 3, although I really have no idea why it's on this list. Favs: Valley of the Dolls Sunworshipper In My Arms Least Fav: Guilty Of Love

It's one of those artists I have never heard of before - it turns out this is his only album he released. It's early 00s electronica, and good background music for studying/working. Some songs were quite repetitiven or annoying (Rikki), but most of them were OK. It reminded me of Air and Avalanches as others also mentioned before, two bands I really like. It's not the same quality but still quite good.

Nice beats but I get pretty bored of the electronic music albums on this list. As always, pleasant enough as background noise while I work, but not extraordinary.

I understand the reasoning for this album's inclusion with as it achieves being a high-quality production that uses a variety of interesting sampling. Is this going to destroy Rock & Roll? No, but the quite peculiar ways that he tries to achieve that are nothing to laugh at. Can't knock a man for trying.

Enjoyed this one. Drop the Pressure is a classic! Definitely holds up. It was a much more relaxed album than I was anticipating - I’d give it a 3.5 if I could

Wasn't what I was expecting at all, but actually really liked this album. Has some great tracks and good to drive to. Highlights: "Drop the Pressure" and "Emotion 98.6"

This is pleasant enough. I don't listen to much anymore but I still have a fondness for house and there's some decent beats here. I had it on in the background whilst I was doing other things and it flew by pretty quickly There are some parts where it does have a bit of a muzak feel though, like I'm on hold with HMRC. There are some vocal samples that are too repetitive and get slightly annoying too, like the Destroy Rock and Roll one that just names big names in rock and pop on repeat Overall this was decent. I wouldn't mind listening to it again but I probably won't seek it out again Highlights: Need You Tonite

Infectious enough listen, not sure how often I'd come back to it but really enjoyed it.

It’s ok background music. Doesn’t do much for me. Our neighbour’s dog is called Milo. Thinking about the dog all the time when I listen to this album.

as far an an electronic album goes, i liked this one. it had some good flows, and i found myself bopping to it quite a bit. this isn't typically my genre, so i probably wouldn't go past a 3. maybe a 3.5, but this doesn't make a 4 stars for me

This was cool. I felt like I was listening to a video game soundtrack in a good way.

I was worried early with the repeated dialogue in Sunworshipper, and thankfully that trend only carried over to a few more tracks, but I absolutely preferred the songs that were completely instrumental. Absolutely love the Bette Davis Eyes sample on In My Arms. Would listen to some again, but definitely not the whole thing.

Low-fi beats to be bored to

Was prepared to be bored or disappointed but this is pretty good. Variety, hangs together, some humour. This 'genre had to be in and this is a pleasant example

Didn't exactly blow my skirt up, but had a song or two I dug.

It did not destroy rock and roll, nor did it make me want to. It was fine.

Sometimes catchy, but never memorable.

I came in with low expectations. But this is decent for what it is.

Started kinda cool and chill but maintained snoozefest status until the end. Didn't bring in enough fresh and memorable sound or ideas, likely won't listen to it again 5.2/10

Some mid beats. 5 missing persons-duran durans out of 10 lizard wizards

perfectly gentle house for a background sesh

Had not heard of prior to listening and was better than expected. Can see it being a nice one to listen to while working.

this album reinforced my conspiracy theory that mylo is patient zero for "lo fi whatever to relax and study to"

delightful bleep blorp music. a tad to wordy in places for my liking but very sweet

Cool soundtrack while working

surprising

Didn't think I was going to enjoy this and, to be honest, it's a bit of a mixed bag. The first w tracks were good, but after that the tracks that are all repetitive phrasings are just dull for me. So, pluses and, well, not pluses.

Never heard of him before. Nice album, solid EDM production, with some nice references to pop and rock classics.

Enjoyable, uncomplicated synth based EDM not trying to be something it’s not; like soul or hip hop, funk, jazz or anything else. Has a sense of humor and self-awareness that was refreshing.

Electronic music, mostly for the dance floor. But some good pieces on here which you can also listen to withouth dancing.

This was just ok.

SOLID 3

Not sure how a single album produced by Mylo finds its way to this list, but I'm not disappointed by that. This is an enjoyable album, with some fantastic sonic moments, though I am far from a connoisseur of the genre, so can't tell what sets it apart from its peers.

Let's not destroy rock n roll if this is the alternative... It's not bad, it's just nog outstanding by any means.

Personally this was up my alley. Chill electroinc dance music but i have never heard of Mylo. Some tracks are more annoying than others when i continue listen. The ones without vocals are best and blends well as focus music. Is this a must listen... nah.

nice electronic album, i enjoyed it as ambient noise but nothing especially hooked me

gotta love a bedroom production. even with the album title, it is euphoric throughout—the kind of music you play when getting ready to hit the town. I enjoyed the use of litany in this album too.

What is recency bias for $200. Not bad, though.

Not really my thing. Some of the songs were fun, some sounded like the music that’s always playing in the back of YouTube videos. Enjoyed some of the samples and some of the beats but probably wouldn’t listen again. Found the one that sampled the sermon quite funny though. Fav song: Destroy Rock & Roll Least fav: Sunworshipper

Came into this with low expectations considering the stinkers of other dance albums on this but was pleasantly surprised actually. Specific rating- 3.5 Fav song- in my arms Least fav- sunworshipper

Charming album, wonder if him being a maths student is why the music is so good to edit a maths paper to. Can't help but feel the title doesn't match the vibe of the album at all. I enjoyed it as background music but I probably won't listen again. Favourite song: Sunworshipper Least: Drop The Pressure

So I was expecting to hate this and although I don't like electronica stuff, this was nice to put on the background to work to. Personal enjoyment: 3/5 Relevance to this list: 3/5

Not my thing but I actually enjoyed a good chunk of this—it's got a slick, early-2000s electronic vibe with some clever sampling and catchy grooves. But yeah, some tracks definitely drift into that "hold music" zone—pleasant but a bit too polished and passive. Still, it’s a fun listen.

Good, but not my type. Helped me to change my perspective on eletro/techno music

This was alright for Electronic. I usually find this genre to be mostly not for me, and some of the things I don't have interest in were on this album. The beats were not too high-energy (for me, a good thing), but they sometimes verged on forgettable or boring. There are a couple of good songs here though. Drop the Pressure and In My Arms we're both good times. I just wish they weren't the main bright spots. But then again, I'm not really an electronic person.

this album was a vibe i won’t even lie, especially “In My Arms”, that was great, some good dance music, but a question raises on whether it needs to be on the list, i’m a mixed bag, i like it but it didn’t feel like it needed to be here, id give it a 3.5 but imma have to give it a 3
