Reviews (page 7 of 8)

Same after same.

Good musicianship and production just really boring and redundant. Nothing stuck out or caught my attention.

Imagine if reggae was boring, it would sound exactly like this.

I enjoyed about 20 mins of this and then was bored.

It was Ok. 2 of 5

Perfectly okay musically, if rather repetitive; but it's the kind of music that seems to think it's Making A Point, and you know how I feel about that...

Meh, not into this reggae. Pretty forgettable.

p468. 1980. 2 stars. Soulless Brit faux reggae that outstays its welcome. Far too smooth and saxophone laden, it has multiple +6 minutes tracks, redundant covers and direct pilfering (the verse melody of "Burden of Shame" is a direct steal of Van Morrison's "Moondance"). Saved from one star by the hit singles.

Good social commentary but boring reggae music. It it had Bob Marley's fire this would have been great. Instead, it's just meh.

I feel a little conflicted listening to this on a Monday at 7:00am as I prepare for my first work meeting that starts in an hour. I've been blasting some Charli XCX and just got done slamming an espresso when I was like dang let me get going on 1001 albums as it's usually my first task to start the day. Maybe this monday morning needs UB40 more than Charli XCX? I can try that, I can chill and groove my way into the day instead of slam into it like a big green brat wrecking ball. I know this band mostly from "Red Red Wine" which is a great song but isn't on this album. After going through this one I'm kind of left wanting some standout track or some more memorable moments. I think that's what is hard for me to reckon with this genre, is that by it's own definition it is laid back, it's not going to have any wild moments and it's not going to try to "wow" you. It does it's thing and this particular thing isn't something I'm too into. It's a 2/5 for me. I'm not sure if it really needs to be on this list. Not a bad album to listen to but the songs are all just so similar and really don't blow me away.

I don't care for dub, and this is an hour long. Probably have to be from the time and place to make it work, but even trying to actively listen I tuned this out. Maybe one day I'll see in it what others see, but I won't be returning on my own.

I'd have said 1 Buy they're getting 2 for lyrical content and subject matter.

I know that this playlist is primarily set from a very Western POV. I get it, it's the music that was the most influential to the western world. It just makes me a bit sad because, while this album is fine, why am I listening to reggae from England? Surely there has to be more influential reggae album?

The fault lies with me. Reggae is just spectacularly boring for me. I tapped out at song 4. I'm certain if I've heard one of these songs I've heard all 13 of them.

I don't know want to generalise and say that reggae is boring, but certainly this album is. It's impossible to tell where one song ends and the other begins. 2.5 stars

Like the band. Not enough good songs on this album though

Pleasant enough background music, but nothing that pulled my attention away from other things - passing traffic, for instance. It's reggae, and a smidgen here and there is plenty for me.

UB40? I need to listen to UB40 before I die?

opening track was so fun but by the end I was just bored

This album is Profoundly boring.

Don’t care for this

Resident sleeper. Reggae sux

It's just some standard reggae, man. It's not even particularly good reggae...

Interesting but not a genre I enjoy

Just didn’t stick out to me

Sleepy reggae

Listened to half, but it blended into the background

British reggae? Kind of cool conceptually - and I liked the saxophones - but in reality, I found it way too long and boring. Felt like a bit of a chore to get through.

Blind album, know the artist. I dont think I've ever had a reason to listen to this band aside from Red Red Wine, and I wish it stayed that way cause this was not my thing.

Overall, pretty nice background album. I liked one track called “King” and the rest were largely secondary to me

Some decent tracks but overall a lot of similar sounding stuff, that's just my take on reggae in general

Boy this got tedious. Went on and on and on.

# 272 : I don't love it, I don't hate it. I think Its OK, a good collection of songs, but I probably wouldn't go back to it. Good Sax and reggae vibe. Favourite Track ; Burden Of Shame

6/10 Highlights: Food For Thought I Think It's Going To Rain Today

Nice cover art, but it's British reggae, which is strange from the concept. Nothing that contains the words reggae and England can be good. The lyrics are nice, and I bet they were important when released. In 2024, it's just flat music designed for good hip-hop DJs to create samples. I hope they enjoy it.

I don’t think reggae is for me.

Unfocused, far far too long. Samey, same tempo, same chords, same production, a bit boring for a style of music that can be great A weak first effort, but probably important

I wasn't aware reggae could be so bland. When I saw it was UB40 I thought I would have to listen to that annoying cover of "I got You Babe" or the pointless cover of "(I can't Help)Following in Love With You" or obnoxious cover of "Red Red Wine", luckily no, it was just some truly forgettable music, music as interesting as the form on the cover of the album.

they had no energy

Day131 - if you told me this was one long song i wouldn’t be able to argue with you

2 hours of reggae is enough for anyone

As happens often while working through the 1001, this is one of those albums that you dread as it comes up. You know it's in a genre that doesn't do anything for you, and it's also from a band you have a life-long aversion to. So me giving this two stars is quite the compliment because I can appreciate it actually broke new ground as diaspora reggae, with very socially conscious lyrics to boot. And its miles removed from the boring, trite rubbish they would produce later. And yet. It's reggae, and it's UB40.

Not bad. Technically strong and very smooth, although it somehow doesn't feel special. I've been on a reggae kick lately, and nonetheless this just doesn't do it for me.

All accomplished musicians, decent songs, but reggae doesn’t speak to me at all. Having said that, I didn’t mind Madam Medusa.

I like reggae but this was not that fun

It's a relatively pleasant reggae album. The issue is that a lot of the songs sound the same. After a couple tracks I felt like I tuned out to the relatively redundancy. It's not a bad album per se, but does little to establish itself a something I need to hear ever again. I'm not sure if the rest of UB40 discography is the same but if this is the best entry I probably don't need to delve into much more. 2.40 stars

This list is ridiculous sometimes

Okay, but nothing great

Not bad, but not really my thing. Probably wouldn't choose to listen to this, but if it happened to play... I MIGHT let it continue

I love reggae like the English beat, but this is just too slow, consistently.

Tyler // Madam Medusa //

The production is good. There must be more interesting dub/reggae music out there, right? Maybe something from... Jamaica?

Musically not really my thing. Got bored of it pretty quickly. Some important messages in the lyrics

I'm all for the politics, but quickly gets boring and forgettable.

It was okay

Long, boring, samey. I like reggae to an extent, but when I don't I think it's a pretty bad style of music. This is just not good enough to rise above a 2.

Mid reggae

Just not for me in album form

It wasn’t awful, but it went on for way too long! At least a couple songs could’ve been cut, and that 12 minute song could’ve been significantly shortened. I’m so sick of this album LOL

I was enjoying this for the first 20 mins but I just don't have the ear for this style and it gets really repetitive

You know you're in for a bad time when you check your progress after what feels like 45 minutes just to find that you're only halfway through track two.

Reggae mon?

I only know them from their easy listening reggae infused covers of "Red Red Wine" and "Can't Help Falling in Love" that my mum used to like, so imagine my surprise at full blown political discourse against Maggie Thatcher and the fucking Tories... Get it right up you.

Reggae but bad

Not really my thing here, but there was some stuff I liked about it. I’m coming around to some reggae for the first time in my life, but I guess I’m just not quite ready for British dub.

i simply cannot understand the words coming out of his mouth, sounded nice though.

Not my jam.

Kind of fun as background noise. I would not typically elect to listen to this, but the music is somewhat neat. Not a huge fan of the vocals. Fav track: Signing Off

All songs were British reggae with no differences between them. On the boring side.

Important, but not good.

As músicas instrumentais me agradaram bastante.

Man...this drags on FOREVER. I think the reggae performed by punk bands is more my speed. Favorite track: Reefer Madness

Nem sabia que tinha britanico fazendo reggae

This was a rather boring reggae/dub album, it's just chill background music and none of the songs stood out. I guess it's on the list because of their political message (which I disagree with anyway).

A bunch of British white guys doing reggae? Well at least there appears to be black people in the band at some point so that helps? Also covering Strange Fruit? Interesting choice for the group. Again with these acts, could you cut out 15-20 minutes? This album would have been so much better if it were 20 minutes shorter. By the 7th song you aren't getting anything new.

Not really my music, but it was pretty nice to listen to. Is pretty calm music, so it’s nice if you don’t have anything in your mind.

Heard it before?: No Enjoy it?; it’s ok, but too slow for me though Favourite song: didn’t have one

Just soooooo same-ish.

I knew only a couple of songs of theirs from hearing "Red Red Wine" and one or two other big hits when they were popular, and although I didn't actively dislike them, I wasn't all that interested. I had already heard too much reggae and reggae-style music by then, and their sound was a little poppier. I'm glad this album came up in the rotation today because I hadn't heard it before. It's better to my ear than the other songs I'd already heard. I'm still not very interested, I must admit, but I can see the appeal.

A pretty tame and uneventful reggae album. This must be on the list due to its political nature. Not sure how that’s going to make these songs was boring. They weren’t terrible I just expected more from the red red wine boys. Not much to revisit here. 4.4/10

It’s a good 2 but still a 2, someone said you could listen to the first 30s of every song and still get the same musical experience and that sums it up best. As background listening it is decent but even the Thatcher hating could not boost it up a star sadly.

UB40 has some great songs, and none of those are on here. In fact, a good chunk of this album is just instrumental jams. I started checking my headphones, I thought maybe the vocals weren't coming through? It breezed by me with little to no impact. I'm not really a reggae guy so that doesn't help, but sadly I prefer "Red Red Wine" or "Rat in Mi Kitchen." Despite the instrumental work obviously being good, this one was a snoozer for me. Favorite tracks: 12 Bar, Signing Off. Album art: I do like this one, it's an unemployment application, pretty funny pick. Fits the laid back vibe I suppose. 2.5/5

I nearly liked this to start with then remembered I fuckin hate it, thanks.

Debut album released in 1980. It's a mellow listening experience with politically-concerned lyrics that are still relevant 40 years later. It's hard to feel like the album goes anywhere, there's a lack of direction or variety which feels like a drag when the albums over an hour long.

Would've been better if it was about 25 minutes shorter. That's when I started singing "I'm not gonna be Mercy" to it out of boredom

boring but alright

Kind of think it’s hard to be that enthusiastic about this without the context of being in Thatcher’s Britain It’s fine nothing more

12 Bar has a good sax. Little By Little has a good sax. Madam Medusa has good drums.

It's definitely reggae, emphasis on gae.

The only UB40 album I've ever listened to is Labour Of Love, which, aside from "Red, Red Wine," I wasn't terribly into, so I didn't have high hopes that I would enjoy this album either. I hate to say that my intuition about this album was correct. Musically, there just wasn't a lot going on here for me. While I found it inoffensive, all of the songs really sounded alike to me, and there wasn't anything memorable about them. Lyrically however, I think this album brought a lot to the table. "Tyler" was really great, and I can't believe that I had never heard of this story before (some of my wife's family lives in Destrehan, Louisiana, and I've been there a few times). I thought "Burden of Shame" was really powerful too, especially since the colonial history of Great Britain has been a hot topic recently. But my favorite song lyrically was "Madam Medusa," which bashes Margaret Thatcher into oblivion. I can't understand why people still romanticize her and Ronald Reagan, when we know that their basic domestic policy was "fuck poor people." Great stuff on that song. Even though those songs had some great lyrics, it wasn't enough to overcome the pretty bland musical aspects of the album, and when it comes to UB40, I think I'll stick to "Red, Red Wine."

It sounds like group of mostly white guys doing a early learning center version of reggae. The cold play of Reggae. Based on this no I didn't enjoy it, found it largely bland and forgettable and was glad when it finally ended

I'm not a huge reggae listener. The sax is cool. Otherwise, pretty repetitive and felt more like a jam band -- 12 minute song. Eek.

Confusies

This was a snoozefest. Good vibes but boring in the long run.

I guess the only reason this is on here is for its political lyrics. I didn’t really enjoy the album and don’t rate it high in comparisons to other ska albums. Favourite track: maybe Burden of Shame? The instrumental parts are catchy and remind me of 8 bit music

Not sure why this is on the list. I just about fell asleep with this on. This isn't offensive and it's not that this intensely sucked, it's that this is intensely boring.

Calling your debut album “Signing Off” isn’t really a sign of a long career to come. But they weren’t signing off. They’re still going nearly 50 years and 50 charting singles in the UK, though they’ve split into two competing versions of UB40. But like most Americans I only know them from “Red, Red Wine” and their cover of “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” Those are cheesy but fun, while “Signing Off” is pretty chill and as a result sort of boring for reggae music. “Burden of Shame” is perhaps the most interesting track, in spite of (or maybe because of) the weird similarity to Van Morrison’s “Moondance.” Weirdest is the “Strange Fruit” cover, which is just odd in the chill boppy reggae style. As long as we’re talking about non-Jamaican artists adopting the reggae style, two notable ones that blended reggae with other styles are Matisyahu and Sublime. I thought Matisyahu’s Orthodox/Hasidic Judaism hip-hop/reggae blending was interesting early in his career, but it’s Sublime’s ska/punk/reggae combo that is crazy to leave off the 1001. Luckily someone has submitted it as their mission completed user album. Excited for those to start soon - most are more interesting than UB40’s non-hits.

Reggae is really not my thing.

Didn't hate it as much as I expected to. Very samey but at least it sounded like reggae and don't have red red wine on it

This is the most okay album of all time. UB40 are an actual enigma and you will never meet a person who considers them their favorite band, but they're not exactly on anyone's "worst bands of all time" lists either. I liked the more ambient parts of this album. This is still a strictly "no reggae" household though.

Not the biggest fan of reggie. Nothing stood out that would make me this again.

Britisk reggae-pop, afslappende nok

Red, Red, Wi--- Wait! They had other songs? I never considered UB40 one of the top reggae bands I should listen to before I die. I still don't.

Reggae is just really not my thing. I can appreciate it but I’m not a big fan.

Never really liked UB40, none of their music, not even the commercial radio guff they churned out, the worst of which was red red whining. Every track on this album has a standard reggae rift with layers of horns and bad singing of political protest lyrics. This would be ok playing in the background somewhere other than my house... but definitely would not be playing this stuff.

Not for me

You're in the lobby of a tropical hotel. There's a fake plant in the corner. This album plays on a nearby speaker. You slowly nod off, never noticing the music was being played by the actual UB40. This is really boring. A lot must have changed before they got to Red Red Wine.

Maybe I’m just not that into reggae.

Not as bad as I thought it would be. Boring rather than annoying.

Not me

Of all the reggae albums that could have been chosen for this list, this is what they went with? Snoozers.

leuk voor achtergrond

Middle of the road reggae. I'm pretty ambivalent about them as a whole. "Madam Medusa" had a nice bass line to it. That's as exciting as it got for me.

Fine background music, but I'm not a big dub guy.

Virtually unlistenable. Ali Campbell’s vocals are thin and reedy, the dub is repetitive, the only redeeming quality is the attack on Thatcher’s policies.

Bit repetitive, particularly the 13 minute long song, but parts alright.

Not the UB40 hits everyone is used to. Very mellow, relaxed album with some great instrumental breaks. Wish it got a little more progressive, but if you are looking for calm background reggae—this is it.

Recommended for: country club happy hour Boring reggae. If ub40 played for free at the park by my house I’d have a beer and hang out with friends. But wouldn’t go out of my way to see them.

Decent english reggae, I thought they were more electronic but nope.

I was never a UB40 fan. I don’t know that this changed my mind, but it was better than I expected.

I want to say 2.5 /3 ish on this... I have never been big on UB40...but always loved English Beat...maybe I am too frivolous for UB40 who always has something to say.

A little dour (which I understand is the story around the music). I'd expected better...

There's only so much reggae I can listen to before it begins to blur. This is more than that amount.

Helt ok reggae. Finnes bedre der ute.

Einaste reggaen eg anerkjenne e Gry Jannicke Jarlum

Just meh. I don't get this style of dub. Not offensive, but would never seek it out.

That initial rumbling bass in the first track made me think I was going to get some gnarly ass sludge of sorts, then all I got was this unbelievably boring reggae. Absolutely hoodwinked. I really don't enjoy reggae in almost any way, so this was tough for me to sit through.

Eh, reggae is not my thing, though I fucking LOVE Red Red Wine. FOR THAT ALONE I GIVE THIS A FIVE. jk 2

It is reggae music but with some synthesizers. It did not really move the dial one way or the other. I didn't hate it. I didn't love it. It was just ok. I am not going revisit the album or really any songs on the album. It is not a 3 but it is better than a 2. I will round down.

Aside from being too long, there wasn’t anything particularly wrong with this album I just don’t think it’s for me

White guy reggea.

Pièces préférées: Signing Off et 25%

So boring

This was a snooze fest for me. Fine as background "muzak" but so repetitive and lackluster and WAY too long

I think there were some songs on here that I liked but the album was so long I forgot about them before it was over. Way too long. Like, way way way too long. I wouldn't mind hearing a couple of these songs again but I'll never listen to this whole thing through again.

Wanted to like it more. Too slow.

Very samey felt like one long song

It's alright. Each song drags and is a bit repititive. The album is long and drags.

Nothing special...background reggae music. Really surprised by the inclusion on this list at it doesn't seem that important in music history either. 2/5

boring ska - couldn't hardly listen to the whole thing.

c'était long j'ai pas vibé

Perfectly acceptable light reggae

An hour of white bloke reggae ffs

Love the message, music just isn't for me

Kinda dull and samey, all just blurs into one reggae mush

I got through disc one, which is not bad for me! I would say probably my favorite reggae album to date, but I truly do not like this genre in any way.

A bit dull.

Not really my thing

Its very chill reggae but not really very interesting 2.5

Not my genre of music

It's reggae, don't really dig that.

Ever song sounded the same

Reggae is nice but the overuse of reverb and echo effects tires my ears in the long run. Burden of shame is basically reggae moondance. I understand the value this album had on the british scene back when it was released but I value this only as background music.

Good Reggea i guess, but I got bored after a few songs.

Boring

Not great

Even though I used to like their hit songs I was not in the mood for this. I might revisit it at a later time.

I do not enjoy this very much. Normally I would blame it on the weather, but its a beautiful sunny day out, so I think it's just bad. 4 reggae was a mistake, ska forever

Didn't hate it but nothing special. We only need red red wine

As a first release, this was really good. However, I'd probably not listen to this more than once a quarter.

Not bad I guess... lots of dub tracks. I listened to it while running errands and found it inoffensive but at no point really clicked with this.

It's reggae, but it's easy listening reggae. Not a big fan. And BTW Burden of Shame is a blatant ripoff of Moondance by Van Morrison - almost identical melody. I wonder if they got sued. 2 stars.

There is much better raggae than this lol

Look, we've talked about this before. Reggae is something for which I really need to be in the mood. Generally, I like UB40. This album, however, just didn't do it for me. 2 stars.

I went into this kind of dreading it. I hate "Red Red Wine", so I was expecting more of the same. While I did get a bunch of it, I did also get some interesting dub parts. Inoffensive enough background music, not for me. Favorite track: "Burden of Shame"

not my genre, disc 1 lang nakayanan kong tapusin, every song seems the same im sorry

Not my style of music, but I get why people like it. The rhythms are hypnotic, but this album is repetitive to me. Every song sounded very similar to the preceding track. However, I really dug the longest song, Madam Medusa, but that was really the only highlight for me. 2.5/5.

Wow an hour of reggae may be my personal hell

Laid back reggae. Sounds like it was a lot of fun to jam to, but I found it repetitive and boring to listen to front-to-back. I think reggae is just not really my vibe.

First listen

I fail to see how a genre (that I don't particularly enjoy anyway) is improved by adding Brummie-influenced.

Any possibility of a score higher than 1 is immediately shot down by what they did to Strange Fruit.

Wait a minute… These guys suck !

We should be ruder to ska

The audio equivalent of ordering jerk chicken but receiving chicken seasoned with only salt and pepper.

I couldn't name any UB40 songs (upon googling afterwards, yes obviously "Red Red Wine") but I'd heard of them. I'm not sure if I had somehow conflated UB40 with B-52s or something, but I was expecting some kind of 70s/80s pop and then BAM... completely blindsided by Reggae. I was up until 3am last night with my neighbours' malfunctioning intruder alarm going off and keeping me awake... So I don't have a lot of patience today. This would be a problem for any Reggae - a genre that is famously simple and repetitive by nature - but then they went ahead and did the one thing I hate most. Do you know what it is? I don't shut up about it in my reviews. Here's a hint: looking at you, Madam Medusa... That's right! A nearly 13 minute song that doesn't earn even 4 of its minutes by being interesting. Over 12 minutes of the same Reggae bounce on the same progression, and nothing to change it up or provide any contrast. Now, I don't mind a long song... as long as it's engaging from start to finish. Give me "Tubular Bells", "Jesus of Suburbia", "Sinnerman" - heck, even "Free Bird". Songs that grab your attention and hold it either by evolution or escalation. The only other angle from which I give these long songs a pass is if they're background music. Lo-fi or ambient tracks that are designed to just fill a space with a sound and live in that sound. Music to forget you're even listening to. It's hard to forget you're listening to Reggae. Please stop. It's too long.

i agree with the messaging, but this is very boring to listen through.. fav song: Adella

yay reagge and politics everyones favorite i was like okay if the musics always gonna be bum tara bum ta lets check the lyrics, for my surprise just as monotone, two songs in they already butchered lean on me, one positive thing about this are the basslines

I do not like UB40

Deer ankle

Disappointing

not great at all. later music is much better. dare say not good

recht lahm - brauche ich nicht

The most fucking godawful shite in the history of music. I’d rather listen to apemen clubbing rocks for an hour.

I don‘t get Reggae, almost fell asleep.

Just not for me at all.

1/3. Reggae just isn't my thing I guess, or at least this album isn't. Such a snoozefest, literally felt like a full hour of the same song being played over and over. I know reggae is defined by the beat, but this was just so samey all the way through; I was so close to finishing but halfway through Reefer Madness I had to tap out. Supposedly the lyrics are good, but unfortunately I didn't catch any.

Ugh. Really repetitive for my tastes. An hour was way too long. Food for Thought was the highlight along with the saxophone playing just didn’t enjoy each song sounding so similar :(

I've always wondered why UB40 are so popular, given that Red Red wine is their main hit when it's a dreadful song. This album is further proof that UB40 is a band I just do not get. Awfully annoying whiny vocals, the music sounds the same on every song and a lot of the lyrics come across as nauseating and preachy. I couldn't wait for it to end after one song. UB1/5

First two songs have some good musical ideas. Even touching. I hesitate a bit with this style, but First two tracks work really well. With track 3 we are left only with the reggae instrumental. It is played well, but not has enough content. Not existing. Track 4 has interesting lyric, but not so interesting music. I can tell this early on that it's going to be too long. Worried. Some changes in groove here. That's positive. Not getting better... The Randy Newman rendition does absolutely nothing. (I think it's one the most touching songs ever, and to make it so boring is a shame). I guess I like my reggae rough and more natural. The prestige sound makes it much less personal, and not interesting. And I'm not even halfway through. 8 is maybe the best since the first two tracks. Has a nice flow. 9 fine aswell.10 meh Now a 12 minute track. Why... Strange Fruit version Dull as well. Such a great timeless song, such disappointing execution. I'm really glad it's the last song This is pretty bad. 66 minutes of little highlights. The first two songs are nice, but even if that quality would have remained for the rest of the runtime it wouldn't save the project for being mideocare at best. That's why it's a 1.9. So sorry for that.

Another one that shouldn’t be on the list. It’s boring.

This was terrible. At first I thought maybe it just wasn't my genre of music, and maybe I just needed to be more open-minded. Nope. It sucked.

Blancos que hacen reggae

Extremely boring and repetitive

Another album where no song stood out

So boring.

Boring. Hard to get past the third song.

Counterfeit product

1. tyler - 1.5 2. king - 1 3. bar - 1.5 4. zhame - 1.5 5. adella - 1.5 6. rain - 1.5 7. 25 - 2 8. food - 2 9. little - 1.5 10. off - 1 11. meduza - 1.5 12. fruit - 1 13. reefer - 1.5

Thais really is not my bag and I can’t finish it.

If there’s one thing I hate more than reggae, it’s white people doing reggae.

Not for me.

Dull, repetitive, an absolute slog to get through, I could go on but you get the point. Did not enjoy this in the slightest. It’s not the worst album I’ve had on here by any means but it’s up there with the dullest.

I’m officially signing off from reggae. I know it’s the backbone to ska but I don’t care, it all sucks - except Ras Trent

No thanks bro. No. thanks.

Erfitt að tengja við þetta, vantar allt kikk

Sounds like what you'd get if you pressed the "Reggae" button on a Casio keyboard (and then turned the volume down so as not to wake the neighbors).

Ugh...Reggae. At least this one doesn't have UB40's terrible version of the already terrible song, "Red Red Wine". Throw this on the junk pile along with Simply Red, Fine Young Cannibals, and Dexy's Midnight Runners.

didn’t even finish listening to this, so repetitive

Gave it a couple songs, wasn't for me.

Cocaine is a helluva drug.

Couldn't do it, held out for the Randy Newman cover, but it's just a slog to me.

Every song is the same, and none of them are good

Boring

This was a really monotonous album, all tracks, well most sounded the same. Dull and flat there was nothing to it at all. Needed a bit of oomph.

King Food for Thought

How is a UB40 album on this list? How does it not even have Red Red Wine on it? How is it over an hour long? How is it so boring that I had to turn it off after 4-5 songs?

I just can't stand reggae.

I'm morally opposed to this.

Jesus Christ. This was potentially one of the most abysmal albums I’ve ever heard. Reggae music for fat, white, middle aged, IT consultants. Music made by people who once saw Jamaica on a map so now feel like they have a kinship with its people. Truly woeful, and I wish nothing but pain on the artists. May their next shites be hedgehogs.

“What kind of music do you like” “Oh, I like everything. Except reggae.”

Very repetitive. I was generous the first time around, but not so much this time.

Did not enjoy this. I'm only lukewarm with reggae to begin with, and this was absolutely nothing outstanding.

This is not for me.

This album is an hour too long. The only good thing I can say about reggae is it gave way to ska

No songs on album that I would I go out my way to add on any playlist or listen for my own pleasure.

not the vibe

reggae really sucks, this is horrid i could listen to this drunk as fuck on a beach i guess, but i'd still rather listen to most other things in that situation. I really tried to give every song a chance but they all sound the FUCKING SAME. nice saxophone melody, you hacks

This felt like it lacked a lot of the passion that I do occasionally find interesting in reggae.

Not a fan. Sounded like the same song over and over.

This was hard to get through. British cosplay reggae.

One of the worst things i ever heard. Its absoluty mental this on the list. Rubbish.

Blehh too pop

How to make reggae boring and at the end annoying…

Being quite unreceptive to reggae, approaching UB40 is somewhat akin to listening to Pierpoljak, especially knowing the height of UB40’s career was into the reggae-pop of “I got you babe”. The social dimension of their first album might have appealed to me, but the saxophone, the vocals, this damn reggae rhythm, the ultra-naive denunciations set against music made for smoking spliffs… It might be good within its genre, but I’m not even sure, especially when compared to more authentic works. It lacks of magnitude, listener is never surprised or impress. I just can’t get into it… except “Food for thought, the only tune I kind of like, but only because it reminds me childhood times.

Toujours du reggae, toujours non.

I feel like it has a message but it did not reach nor move me. This is the first one I rate one star.

this band made a career playing other people music. so i have nothing to say and will not listen to it

Super boring.

I fucking hated this album.

Lacks energy and all sounds the same.

Oh so boring. I can hang with a greatest hits compilation (a short, 30 minute one), but I can’t hang with “Signing Off.”

Nope. Every reggae sounds the same

I don't think anything from this band besides red red wine is good

Some people can differentiate between music that is good and music that they like. I cannot. I hated this album, therefore it is bad.

there's an inordinate amount of repetitiveness in this album, which went on for too long. red red wine is already one of my least favorite songs ever, so this solidifies me as an UB40 hater for life.

I'm begging you no more reggae

Would rather staple my balls to my head than listen to this pish, why isn’t 0 an option ?

hate being the guy who says every song sounds the same, but every song sounds the same - and they all suck

Words cannot describe how boring and underwhelming this was.

Was kind of cool at first but the same instrumentation for an hour gets old fast.

I would've given this 2 stars, but I knocked a star off for it being a double album. Bore me with a single album, not a double, you cunts!

As a lover of Red Red Wine, I thought this was going to be bops on bops. But it didn’t do it for me. Almost all skips.

Did not like, could handle one song…

Very monosyllabic. Sounds like the same song over and over...

Ganske kjipt

absolute fucking slog of an album

I hate this album

Did not liaten

tired of trying to listen to this. it probably played ten times through after i fell asleep bc i woke up and this shit was still looping. fuck outta here.

not my genre

Wenig innovativer Reggae.

I gained absolutely zero enjoyment from this album. Apparently I don’t get the British Reggae thing… and I’m glad I don’t. I’d give it 0 stars if I could

I sat through this reggae album. Man, I'm tolerant. They bait every song. "Oh, this one might be different!" I think. Nope, same song again. One love, One Sound, One Star.

Kto słucha rege ten ...

Hated it.
