This is definitely some of the crazier shit that's made it on the list. How the author ever heard if Dr Octogon who knows. This gets extra star for being weird, crazy, offensive and just different
It was weird. He has good flow though.
I'd never heard of this guy before. I guess he crawled so B.O.B. and Gorillaz could run. It reminded me of Cypress Hill at times too. This album was ok. A lot of the songs are catchy and I like his rapping style, but some of the lyrics were just too ridiculous/not really my style. I appreciate what he was doing with the concept and the character, but it's just so over the top. It's also super long—it just seemed to keep going and going.
The concept developed by Dr. Octagon in this album (visual concept, interludes, song themes) makes it a remarkable work. A novelty, sorry to say. I will take a long shot by saying it could be included in the same conversation with artists like Madvillian. I enjoyed it, but it still lacks something.

Stupid childish humour which makes you snort,.simple but effective beats, an unusual underground sound. Feels like a pirates vhs tape of late night early 90s TV. Tastes like Cheeto fingers, sounds like skateboard wheels and smells like grinders and armpits. Not life changing and overlong but a reasonable enough experience

A cult classic, but on a tier below the best 90's Hip Hop albums
This was a weird album that I kind of enjoyed but never need to listen to again. Feels like a goldmine for DJs to sample.
A remarkably inventive and pretty deranged album that’s very fun at times and at other times is just too much, man. The production is fire, though I do prefer some records it influenced quite a bit more than this one, and the lyrics are just on another level, asking the important questions that other rap albums are afraid to ask like ‘what if your gynaecologist was a homicidal time traveler?’ and ‘what if you were half shark alligator half man?’
amazing production and scratching let down by an inconsistent flow, the skits seemed to last a bit too long too
I stand behind my beliefs that Kool Keith is clinically insane. I'd put this into the same musically interesting category as Wesley Willis' albums. Bizarre, profane, nonsensical, but unrefutably creative and expressive.
Science fiction beats courtesy of Dan the Automator. Lyrics all over the place but the flow is good. Earth People is menacing - I like it.
Not a big fan of the lyrics but the music was good and there was great originality in this one.
Sounds like the kind of rapper that Mike Patton would adore. I appreciate the surrealism, "lyrics as an instrument," and pretty cool beats. The puerile album concept is a big bummer though.
-okay this album title and cover are so fucking funny -never heard of this band before so i really don’t know what to expect -god i LOVE some 90’s rap i really do -i miss when there were interlude/speaking songs that were short between the other songs -very heavily enjoying a lot of these songs -is this rap i would go back and listen to again? probably not -but am i having a good time listening to this? yes! -i really like the theme they have stuck with here -overall its a solid three stars for me
Ok Rap album but not my thing
I liked the backing tracks of this, with a very cool, original, spot-on 90s sound. But I got fairly bored with it by the end, and I have to admit that I don't really like creepy sexual doctor humor much.

Good beats, good flow. I'd be lying if I said I really listened to the lyrics, this was background music while I worked. Overall I would consider listening again if I was in the mood for this genre.
There are some absolutely great hip hop songs on here with great mixing and beats. There's also just as many songs that are just plain dumb with juvenile lyrics. I'm going to be generous by giving this a 3 just because it's unique although I have no interest in putting this album on ever again.
I’m not a rap fan, and I wasn’t a fan of the numerous references to rectums and vaginas, but the album has great flow and I appreciate that it sticks to a theme throughout.

This album reminds me of riding around very stoned in the back of my friend's station wagon in high school. there are some cool tracks, but the juvenile humor and stupid hospital interludes always irked me back then, and they still do.
What a weird album. Not a huge fan of his flow, but some songs really came in hard. You know, think I'm deciding it wasn't half bad, despite the poo poo pee pee humor.

I liked the flow of the lyrics. lt sounded off at first, but coalesced as the song went on. I just wish the content was better. Alien gynecologist from the future? And all we get are pee-pee and poo-poo jokes. Maybe I'm spoiled, listening to Black Thought / Danger Mouse on "Cheat Codes". But it just feels like he could do better. The DJ is freaking SICK, though. The scratchwork, WOW. I just wish the lyrics held up, is all.
Pleasantly surprised; thought this was going to be awful though I had no idea who the artist was or what the music was going in. The beats are awesome and Kool Keith/Dr. Octagon can rap. And yeah, the lyrics are weird or depraved, but all in the spirit of fiction. So I didn't mind it at all (better than rapping for real about slaying b*tches) especially because, again, the beats are awesome...at least half the time. 3000, Earth People, and Real Raw are all killer tracks. I'm Destructive, Halfsharkalligatorhalfman, Blue Flowers (revisited), Waiting List are also solid. But the album goes on a little long; it gets off to such a good start but then the middle is a bit ho-hum. Tightened up and capped around 45min and this could be really, really good.

The doctor is in and out of this world. What finesse this album has when it comes to lyrical structure. This may not be everyone’s favorite album but I was thoroughly impressed with it. The production is great, ahead of its time with the trip hop and weird sound overs. The lyrics are quick witty funny and odd. Everything you want out of an octagonacologyst. This was like madvilliany if it had a father or something like that. 7.1/10
Hard beats, good rhyme. It falls under the genre: Alternative hip hop, psychedelic rap. Never heard of this before. It has it's good points. Standouts: (Nothing is great, but many are good.) Some real skill, good beats, and far better than more popular albums at the time but the oversexification of some songs and the skits really bring it down a peg

Dr. Octagonecologyst is the debut solo album by American rapper and Ultramagnetic MCs member Kool Keith, released under his alias Dr. Octagon. This hip hop album introduces listeners to Dr. Octagon, a homicidal, extraterrestrial, time-traveling gynecologist and surgeon, while sonically fusing psychedelic electronic music with trip hop, and hip hop. The amazing production was managed by Dan "The Automator" Nakamura and the cool record scratches came from DJ Qbert. Kool Keith provided the avant-garde, slightly humorous, and science fiction inspired lyrics as raps over the trip hop/hip hop beats. This was an innovative album released during the golden age of hip hop, when most artists wanted to be gangsta rappers. It stands out because Dr. Octagon decided to do things a little differently or otherworldly. Although it never charted, this album performed well commercially. Critics appreciated the raw, spooky, and heavy hip hop which was unlike any of the "run-of-the-mill" hip hop albums being produced at that time. Kool Keith went on to dislike his creation Dr. Octagon because fans wanted that to be his persona instead of just a project for a single album. I loved this unique hip hop album, even though the lyrics can be a bit zany at times. It's music you don't hear regularly and it's nice to enjoy the absurdness of it all. Great album of dope beats and interesting raps.
Way ahead of it’s time but still too long and repetitive to hold me. Feels like an album that gets more credit for being prescient than good.

Sheesh. This album is cooked. If you could take the lyricism and themes, and replace them with components that don't make you squirm, this would be a fantastic album. The flows and beats throughout out are great, the tracks are diverse and the album presents as some sort of warped, cartoonish trip. As cooked as this trip is, I guess his ability to create such visceral experience is to be commended? The production samples and instrumentation are so tight throughout. The skits/songs like "a trip to the gynaecologist", are so tasteless that any layer of satire, or commentary, falls completely flat. There is some proper disgusting stuff on this, yuck. Fav track: 3000 2.5/3
What’s with the anal obsession throughout this album? Every skit and almost every verse deals with recta and anii - it’s not always terrible but it’s terribly long and very naff at times.

This shit is somehow terminally online mentally ill music before the internet was even a thing. I don't really understand the concept. The dude is a gynocologist and then he says peepee poopoo black fart balls cock penis lol sex for an hour. The horror vibes are there and it's actually pretty ahead of it's time. It sounds a lot more like 2000s rap than 90s. It's not great but it is funny and it sucks and it's good at the same time. Wild and crazy sounds a lot like a Del song. I hate skits. I've had a lot of hip hop albums recently. This is by far the weirdest and most interesting. Like an odd collage this reminds me of the Avalanches. The lyrics are bizarre and the mish mash of samples and scratching is a lot of fun. It's a shame the time travelling extraterrestrial had to be a homicidal gynecologist, but I guess it had to stay true to the violence and misogyny than so often characterises the genre. Truth is, I've never been a fan of Dan the Automator's work. I mean, it's probably not is fault that this album gets meandering in the second half, but I always find his productions to be cold, almost detached from any emotions. I know it's considered as a classic, it was probably the sh*t in 1996, but I can't say that this has aged very well.

I read a Rolling Stone magazine interview with Sean Lennon and almost every answer was Dr Octagon. It weirded me out. I avoided the work of the Dr because of this. For starters, the DJ work on the album is off-tap. Q-Bert is a legend, but this is insane. Scatology and rectum references aside, this is some well crafted stuff. I enjoyed the Ultramagnetic MC's back in the day, I enjoyed this today.

Mix this almost sci-fi-ish pornographic atmosphere with his crazy off the wall lyrics and you got yourself a very entertaining listen. Its not my kind of music, or i don't listen to it much, but i can definitely see the atraction here.
expected to hate this based on what i've read and my overall ignorance in the hip hop genre - but so far i actually enjoy this a bit. probably helps that im not native english speaker and can ignore the bullshit lyrics and just focus on the flow and beats which are both really good. its still too long and the porn bits are just too much sometimes. My favorite track is Halfsharkalligatorhalfman - the idea of a 208 year old uncle as the final boss is hilarious. Also, there's another album about a horny gynecologist - Doc Gyneco made in France in the same year - who was first here? Don't really care but I think the French one is much better. 3/5
Pretty good, never heard it before
Excellent hip-hop and record scratching production in an Unkle/Mo-Wax style. The rapping is tongue-twistingly clever, but mind-twistingly bizarre about an alien gynecologist! Mad as a box of frogs.
Underground old headdddd
90’s hip-hop. A good flow on a lot of the albums…reminded me of Jurassic 5 at times. However, there is also something about albums like these in the 90’s that just feels…I dunno…inauthentic. Kind of like they are the flake plastic cheese version of a real album. I think it has to do with the gimmicky, porny type intro where they are trying to add performances that are not part of the music. It was kind of in vogue to have those kind of intros, or like the short little acts (less than 10-15 seconds long) that they had in between tracks. Definitely a 90’s kind of thing that makes the album feel commercialized and a bit dated.
It was fine, a little tedious to get through. Beats are decent but don’t have much variation as well. Some really funny moments which helped to keep it interesting tho. 5/10

Have to say I probably need to re-listen properly and give my full attention, struggling to remember much about it looking back. BUT from what I did hear I did like, some interesting beats and samples.
I guess it wasn't too back, it had some good beats and I was bopping along at times but it went way too hard on the whole Doctor thing.
I have this CD in my collection and it's just as strange as it is fun. There are some dull moments throughout, but it's balanced out by the more... interesting moments.

If this list has one criticism, it's at times too tasteful. Not something that can be levelled at this completely-new-to-me slice of 90s hip-hop. It is absolutely mental, chiefly based around an alter ego who is an alien sex-obsessed gynacologist from Saturn, the eponymous Doctor. The beats are fantastic, sparse, melodic and spooky in an early Wu-Tang way. The rhymes are ridiculously misogynistic, pornographic (one track appears to be a sampled soundtrack to a porn film) but so lurid and OTT it's difficult to be outraged. Is it any good? I don't know, but glad it's on the list and three stars.
This is the style of hip hop I like best, runs a little long though. You know I like em 40-50 minutes
3.9 - This is a lot of goofy fun. Lots of medical imagery and nonsense scientific language. The flow is a little inconsistent but among the funniest and most different hip hop I’ve listened to thus far.
I was a little disappointed in this one. I expected to like it more. It sounded like it would be fun but was just pretty plain.
I was missing some hip hop on the list since this album is the first in some days. It's not the best on lyrics (I like the themes, but here I feel it is a bit exaggerated), but it is very well produced. I liked to know a good release, but it's probably not remarkable enough to take me back to it soon.

Probably a generous 3 but it's an obvious influence on people like MF Doom, Dilla, Madlib etc who I really enjoy so for that I'll give then the benefit of the doubt. Loses a point for being too long and another for being too horny. Lucky it didn't lose a third for that Eart People nonsense.

Okay, so I'll describe the most recent narrative that I discovered from LET'S GET EDGY CINEMA. It's about a mad scientist. An up-to-date theme, right? And he's a doctor. A gynecologist and a surgeon specifically. He specifies in intestine surgery, rectal rebuilding, relocated saliva glands, chimpanzee acne, and moose bumps. But that's not all. He's an extraterrestrial from Jupiter. And a time traveller as well. His phone number is 1-800-PP-51-DOODOO. And and he is also horny and homicidal. And at the top of that, he is named after a freaking polygon. At first, I thought that this is a pretentious narrative trying hard to be "scientific" or whatever. Throwing slick bass and technical words here and there. But it's (probably) not. I think it's a parody, a circle jerk for... medical or science fiction stuff? Awesome synth-y and scratchy sound effects. Love the horror-ish vibes. The lyrics seems comical most of the time, but the delivery is sometimes repetitive and weak. With a length of more than an hour, this little science fiction horror thing gets weary and boring after a while, whether it is a genuine attempt to make a horror sci fi narrative or a self parody doctor story.

I'm not going to act like I didn't enjoy some of this, because I did, but it sounds like somebody quickly explained what a concept album was to a 15-year-old, who then came back an hour and a half later with 65 minutes of content. Best track: Waiting List
Sadly this concept album project with Kool Keith has never been a hit for me. It's a perfectly fine hip hop concept album but it does suffer tremendously from it's run time which makes it feel far too meandering as a whole. None of the beats or production scream breaking boundaries though it is fun to hear Kool Keith embrace some of the more relaxed West coast style. It's never bad except for a few of the skits (what hip hop albums from this era don't have terrible skits tho right?), but also never reaches the heights other Kool Keith projects or concept albums of the era get to.

Dark, minor key, lazy beats. Lots of scratching and sampling. Fast rolling rapping, almost like a percussion instrument itself. Reminds me of The Ziggurat/ The Constructus Corporation, in that its a sci-fi themed concept hip-hop album. Some of the teenage humour is annoying.
The beats and backing tracks here are peak 90's hip hop, but that's where my appreciation of this album ends. Most of the lyrics fall on a spectrum from juvenile to problematic, the word play is not half as clever as it thinks it is, and the interludes sampling what I assume is old pornography feel disingenuously edgy.

So much gimmicky hip-hop waste on this list -- and the worst part is, it's never actually doing anything new or interesting. Truly a dead end of a genre.
I got stuck in an awkward week where I kept listening to half the album of the day, getting distracted, then next day starting the next album of the day and listening to only half. But I have only one real listening rule for these: albums need a full listen in one sitting. It’s the only rule I’ve been militant about. Unfortunately one of the reasons I wasn’t closing the loop is I just wasn’t in the mood to relisten to the half albums from the day before all that much. Typically that just means I need a break and then a follow up blitz down the road. Well that down the road blitz is happening now. And to kick things off… oh yeah… now I remember why I didn’t want to relisten to this. Purely for 14 yr olds.
Ah, this was really disappointing. Everything pointed to me enjoying this - Kool Keith, Q-Bert, Dan The Automator…, but the end result is just underwhelming. Lacklustre throughout, it has ideas above its station. There are some good moments, but overall it was a big misfire for me, sadly.
The more I listened, the less I liked it. There wasn’t a lot of great flow, and when it did it just seemed to be random rhyme-ish sounds with no coherence. The rest was mostly juvenile humor. Although “cirrhosis of the eye” is kinda funny.
I have never heard of this or Kool Keith before. The flows and cadences are quite good and the production by Nakamura is great. I'm not squeamish or easily offended but lyrically a lot of this album is too gross to actually enjoy listening to. Blue Flowers is the only real stand out for me.
Pretty unique! I don't listen to a lot of hip-hop, it's one of the genres I'm excited to listen more of thanks to this, and I enjoyed this one. Admittedly I didn't pay that much attention to the lyrics, so I'll get back and give it a few more fair listens, even though what I did hear don't seem that relevant or coherent. Maybe I just didn't get it, I genuinely don't know. After going through it again, I felt compelled enough to knock out one star. Gave me an odd vibe, even if I did enjoy the sound a ton. What?
I have several issues with this album, and being a rap album is the least of them. Apparently, I'm not all that much into hip-hop as I may have thought, but I'm even less into "a homicidal, extraterrestrial, time-traveling gynecologist and surgeon" who's rambling about so many things he may not be qualified to discuss at such lengths. In the song where he repeats "Earth People, I was born on Jupiter" an unnecessary high amount of times, he lists yellow, black and red, and green, and purple as five colors. This was extremely disappointing because a scientist would know black is not a color. Name dropping Microsoft, Hasbro, Richard Gere, Michael Jackson, and various others brands and celebrities also felt unnecessary. Overall, I won't listen to this again.

While Kool Keith brings genuinely creative beats on this deeply influential album, the gross skits and lyrics constitute a poor excuse for shock rap, proving that later artists do experimental/underground rap much better.

Sometimes you wonder how these albums made this list. Never heard of this and doesn’t seem like something that was culturally relevant at the time. Sounds like old school rap with some interesting style to it. His flow is scattered and unusual. Man this is weird at times. It’s not terrible or anything. Some songs feel like half thought out ideas and then other times there’s a good beat and some nice rhymes. It feels raw and inconsistent. Not sure it’s anything special though. It’s fine in stretches. Some weird little skits/samples. Weird theming on this album/rapper. Like it gets old quick and is just weird at times. Don’t hate this but this feels like it’s over long and seemingly repetitive at times. Interesting things happen throughout, but just not enough to keep it higher rated. Some beats were real fun but lyrically it’s not great at times. Going with a 2.

This release from the 'paramedic fetus of the East' is the weirdest rap album I've ever heard. Given my limited interest in rap and hip hop, that might not be saying much but this really weird. Supersonic waves combine and burn as brainwaves. You know. As you do. And then he said "You have bees flying around your rectum", and I'm out.

Overall a good flow and some parts where good but mostly it was 90s hip hop as generic as it gets for me, someone not immersed in that world. Som song had fun lyrics but mostly forgettable.

Great production - feels so modern for a hip-hop album from 1996. I guess it's the Gorillaz producer so makes sense. Can't get into this style of rap - I guess MF Doom is ripping him off? I think it's probably technically impressive but it also just feels like a guy reading a dictionary and highlighting all the words that mean something dirty.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard the word “rectum” repeated this many times in any form of media, so that’s certainly an accomplishment. Dr. Octagonecologyst is easily one of the more original albums I’ve heard in this challenge, and there are a few production touches I enjoyed, like the psychedelic blips, the scratching, and some beats that sound like they came straight from a Sega Genesis game. There’s also some clever wordplay here and there. The problem is that a lot of the humor just didn’t land for me. Sometimes it felt overly sexual, sometimes awkward, and sometimes it was just trying so hard to be strange that the joke wore thin. The album starts out interesting, but by the end I was mostly thinking, “Okay, I get it.” It has some creative ideas, but they were not enough to keep me engaged all the way through.

Octagon – Dr. Octagonecologyst (1996) On Day 198, I dove into an underground hip-hop project that I tried incredibly hard to like, but it ultimately killed the experience for me. The album is packed with corny lines, and the overall progression left me feeling incredibly bored and completely disengaged. To make matters worse, I was already feeling sick during the session, and the strange, chaotic nature of this LP actively made me feel worse as it went on. Despite the rough listening experience, I did find one definitive highlight in "I'm Destructive." I really liked this track because the production and the abstract vocal flow at least reminded me of bits of MF DOOM's style, which gave me something solid to attach to. Outside of that track, however, the project simply didn't land well at all. An incredibly tough sit and a flat 2/5.

Musically, not bad. The wordflow was impressive at times. Those things combined were not enough to overcome lyrics that were juvenile and scatalogic. Starting the album off with a porno clip set my stomach on edge, and with what followed, I never really recovered. Don't call the doctor, though.

Please stop making me listen to David Byrne? This is a great artist who I can like -- even love! -- in small doses...just not at album-length. This is "excellent," "good," "artful" rock and roll that I just don't personally enjoy/prefer. It's good, ok?!? It just gets on my nerves after awhile musically. I'm not a math-rock/art-rock enough guy for Talking Heads, I'm sorry! Please let me continue to appreciate them from afar and occasionally on the radio, 1001 Album Project!!!
I have heard of Ultramagnetic MCs but know very little about them and had never heard of this album. It's OK. Didn't really need to be listening to porn dialog at work today, but... Thinking that people need to hear this before they die strikes me as odd. The music is performed well but the lyrics are juvenile.

I like parts of this and really dislike other parts. I would say that the flows are all pretty good. And rhe beats are killer. Im just less into the juvenile alien gynecologist stuff. The content of the raps is just straight up bad. Im not a total prude or whatever. I like when its fun. I can take a middleschool level of writing as long as its silly and fun. This is mostly just gross and kinda creepy. I love when Eminem talks about idk killing Christina Aguilera or whatever. Its done so comedic that it works. When this sets up a skit where he fingers some innocent lady in the stirrups its just fucking weird. I could see some way to make it not gross but thats not what I got here. Its a shame cause I could see it being good if anything else is said in the same meter with thr same beats. Its just bad with all this crap hes saying. Humor is subjective and maybe im in the minority but I just cant get down with it. Still gets some points for production but im out on anything lyrical here.

This one was kinda fun. The lyrics and rap were fun, but some songs felt repetitive. I want to give it a 2.5, but enjoyed it more than expected.
I feel the DNA of this in other stuff I like but don’t really connect with this. The humor came off too creepy and while the beats and flow were solid it just didn’t do anything for me.

Inget som stannar kvar hos mig efter att jag lyssnat klart men ändå helt ok. Egentligen skulle jag vilja ge 3 i betyg men gynekolog temat gör att jag ger en 2 (mer 2.5 faktiskt).

Listen, I'm not against hip hop. It kind of seems like it because my last few reviews. I actually enjoy a lot of what I hear here. The rapping is quality and many of the beats are cool and mysterious. Dr. Octagon is a great example. Crazy track. I just don't get, many times, the way this hip hop artists build the albums themselves. I find them many time to be too long, not focused enough. It became a bit of a struggle towards the end there... I can't deny that there's passion and talent behind this project, but it's not for me. I look for a different experience when listening to an album. A flat 2

I wanted to like this album more than I did, but I wasn’t a big fan. Very over the sexualised bizarre interludes which made me feel uncomfortable and it shadowed the potential of me actually enjoying this. If I have to skip a decent amount of the album then the overall listening experience is just not great. On the actual songs, I liked No Awareness, Earth People, Wild and Crazy, and Halfshark is pretty funny, but I don’t know if I’ll be coming back to them in a rush.

Why exactly do you feel a need to do this?

This is so random. I genuinely don't know whether I like it or not. I suppose the creativity is absolutely off the charts, but the surrounding topics of some of the songs are just a bit odd... The whole concept of 'Dr. Octagon' being an 'extraterrestrial gynaecologist' is just weird, and some of the dialogue throughout is disturbing, especially in the song 'A Visit To The Gynecologyst'. I did, however, find 'General Hospital' somewhat amusing, with the last line being 'Oh shit, there's a horse in the hospital!'. This line alone is what the first star in my rating is for. The backing tracks, however, were great throughout, and they may be the only reason that this is getting more than a 1-star rating... Fairly forgettable 90's hip hop by Kool Keith with off the wall lyrics and sexual humor.
One of the more original and inventive hip hop albums, with elements of psychedelia and trip hop amongst the standard beats. You tend not to get 40 minute concise albums in this genre and it starts to go on a bit in the last twenty minutes. I can't get TOO worked up by it but it was a diverting listen for the most part without saying a great deal poetically.

Funny concept, but it was a bit too dirty and too long. It might work on a song or two, but a whole album was too much for me.
Again another hip-hop I haven't clicked with. Doesn't have the funky beats of Jurassic 5 or Public Enemy.
Because Deltron 3030 exists, this one suffers by comparison. I like most of the weird flow and ideas, but the porn stuff loses me and is a real yikes.

Eh, the story is BS, but there's too many good things to ignore this one completely. 2 stars, the "story" really pulls this one down.
Either the album is too conceptual for my taste, or it tries to be more than it really is.
This thing felt like a bargain bin Enter the Wu-Tang cosplay. Same “grimy skits between tracks” blueprint, except instead of kung fu clips you get corny medical bits that aren’t clever and they’re just there taking up time. The whole album comes off like it’s trying way too hard to be weird, and it ends up sounding like someone dared a decent rapper to make a concept record and then forgot to write the actual songs. I finished it out of spite, not enjoyment.
I truly don’t know how to feel about this record. There is something undeniable about the talent on this album and the idea is different to the usual fare. However, many of the lyrics are pretty juvenile and it kind of leaves me flat.

The production and turntable work are the strongest parts of this. The rapping is fine and I can have a fun time with juvenile lyrics and subject matter, but it gets a little exhausting over the course of a full hour. I didn’t hate it but was kind of relieved when it was over. Obligatory “this is kind of misogynistic” knock.

About 30 seconds in, you have a pretty good idea what you’re about to experience. To me, this album was clearly made by a very talented rapper and producer (it’s instantly apparent we’re in the same solar system as Deltron 3030). But they chose to focus those talents on shock rock and gimmicks, which I find off-putting. For a conceptual album, it’s pretty flat, with not much being developed after the first few minutes (at least until you meet Doc Oc’s 208-year-old shark uncle)! Also, I lost count of how many times he said “doo-doo.”

I quite enjoyed his vocal stylings and flow. I couldn’t abide the concept album thing, whether intentionally juvenile or not, I just didn’t want a full album of horror and porn, I give him credit for doing something different but I just didn’t need the content, but that’s a personal taste. Musically I enjoyed the album a whole lot more that I could the holistic experience, hence only 2 Star
I have a pretty high tolerance for dumb and fun in my music. For instance, I like Motorhead. This was a little too much for me since probably a good 25% is gibberish and the whole thing is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of what a gynecologist does, but I guess I don't really know what alien gynecologists from Jupiter do. The music is ok, but not breaking down any walls. I'm not a big fan of his flow. I was able to listen to it twice without hurting myself, so I won't give it 1 star.
