Best song: My Girl Notable covers: Wonderful World, Satisfaction Notable songs from same artist: Sittin on the Dock of the Bay
60’er soul, kraftfuldt, passioneret
What else is there to say? It's Otis fucking Redding, one of the greatest Soul singers of all time. This album clips along with nothing but passion behind it. No song is wasted on Otis and the band backing him.
Good. Had some songs that i remembered. Didnt know Otis himself made those songs. Cool. Has its highlights, has a few skips, yet nothing blows me
- Most of the songs blurred together. - The standout to me is Otis' cover of Sam Cooke's A Change Is Gonna Come. - I prefer none of the covers over the original version of the songs.
Okay
No lo terminé, larguísimo, pero tiene temones EL DE ENTRENANDO A PAPAAA LA ROCA TE AMO
Disappointing. Very standard for a 60s singer I was pretty high on before this.
In a genre I’m not particularly fond of, I can’t deny the electricity this album has. Shame it’s a lot of covers, but that’s just how music was treated as a medium back then. A very soulful experience. uhmm… Gay Otis Redding: ♫ Sittin’ on a cock cause I’m gay ♪
Covers of others (Aretha, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, etc.) - all who did it way better than Otis.
Perfectly enjoyable!
I like this album and think the renditions are very good. Am I insane in thinking that Otis needs to chill it down a touch though. Like listening to 'Wonderful World' he is screaming a lot and compare that to Sam Cooke's version which is mellower and I prefer that version. But still, great band and great force of nature.
Groovyyyy, i like, 3/5
Cannot believe bro recorded this album (except one song) in 24 hours??? The work ethic from him/this band/recording personnel is unmatched! Also gone way too soon. I was really into Otis Redding while a bit younger...not as much now...but that voice and talent and effort is much much appreciated and still admired.
Solid.
Talented guy but it’s an album of covers
fun, not my cup of tea tho
Otis energetic performance even in studio recordings is amazing it always hits me how much soul is in that soul music truely "The King of Soul" also I listened to both the Mono and the Stereo versions of the album and I really prefer the stereo one
Ole man trouble - 4/5 Respect - 3/5 A change is gonna come - 3/5 Down in the valley - 3/5 I've been loving you too long - 2/5 Shake - 3/5 My girl - 4/5 Wonderful world - 3/5 Rock me baby - 2/5 (I can't get no)satisfaction - 3/5 You don't miss your water - 4/5
I get why it’s ao acclaimed, but I honestly found myself getting a little bored. Still good though
a cover album so meh but also it's otis so yeh
This is obviously historically important for changes in music. But it’s not my favourite genre.
Very nice! Hard not to like…

Soul and blues isn't really my cup of tea. However I enjoyed listening to the album while writing my thesis. It was calming, vibey and helped me focus on my work. Four songs made it into my playlist: Shake, My Girl, Rock Me Baby and (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction. Although most songs sound a bit the same, those songs stood out to me more than the others. Overall a good album, just not music I would listen to or enjoy often.
A strong effort from one of the smoothest singers ever. It was a great listening experience. Not a lot more to be said. Biggest negative for me was that it was overwhelmingly covers. Is it really fair to say an album is "great" when it's an immensely talented vocalist singing songs that are already popular? It feels like cheating a little bit, even though they changed up the arrangements somewhat. His few originals are great, and everything I know Otis has written is a good song. Unfortunately we only got three of those on this whole album. The covers are what dropped this back down to just "good" for me. Just not enough original work to get more credit than that. But it was still very good.
Good blues / jazz. Aretha definitely did a better job on "Respect" (with which Otis himself agreed) and I didn't care for his cover of "Satisfaction," but still, he's got a terrific blusey voice.
Soul is actually pretty nice.
Some good stuff, the originals of most were better.
Lots of covers, but I guess that was the thing at the time?
Całkiem buja
Skemmtilegt.
De la soul, des reprises sympa
Sympa, bonne écoute avec plein de classiques
Muy chido!
Not my thing.
Normal
what a voice
Otis Redding has an extremely powerful voice; he blends into each cover so smoothly. I originally thought these were all original songs until I took a closer look. I’m not sure if I’ve ever listened to a soul and blues album, but this is definitely a classic in its respective genre. I began listening to this in the shower. Every enjoyable, easy listening!
Really like it, but a couple of the covers don’t work, Stones in particular
3.5/5 https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/otis-redding/otis-blue-otis-redding-sings-soul/ Had a weird incomplete and shuffled version of the album on Tidal for some reason. Anyway, not really my thing, but I can recognize its value. Also My Girl is just a great song.
Nice background music to work to
Pretty good! Would not be my go to, but happy I gave it a listen and know it exists. Would give it a 2.5
Sublime. His voice was astonishing, it's hard to believe he was in his 20s sounding like this, so much weary heartache. This was fun to just jam out to at the end of my work day while cooking, I'll definitely come back to some of these tracks next time I want to fill out a soul playlist Standouts: Respect (HOW did I not know he wrote the song! i assumed this was his response to Aretha) and A Change is Gonna Come.
Like upstairs spiders innit
I like it! His voice is great and Otis was a cool cat 🐈 but with it being mainly just an album of standard covers at the time it not all that interesting. For what it is though he does a great job!
Some great songs, prefer Smokey Robinson's 'My Girl', Rolling Stones' 'Satisfaction' and Arethas 'Respect' though props for writing that one. Hes got a great voice but prefer when he sticks to the slower numbers. If Sittin On The Dock of The Bay was on here coulda taken it to 4
Good stuff. Even though it’s just a lot of covers
3.5
Just a damn solid record from Otis. Unfortunately not the one with Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, but it does have a great rendition of My Girl. Not sure on it being included due to mostly being a covers album, but good nonetheless.
Otis Redding has an amazing voice. So far the standout track has been “I’ve been loving you too long.” I also like the horns throughout, especially on the “My Girl” cover.
Led almost entirely by Redding's gruff, inimitable voice, this album is a benchmark in soul by all metrics. Personally I was fairly surprised to see so many all time classics find their earliest success here (namely Respect, My Girl.) Much of the album is covers or other assigned material in general. While I find it to be a quite robust and fully convinced album, it does get very samey about halfway through and Redding doesn't really show much of his voice except go full blast almost every time. An album that serves best as a nice background accompaniment as it rarely ever demands a listener's full attention.
Really good
05/20 Pretty good. Heard some of these songs at work
Started really strong, but kinda cooled down the last half. Still enjoyable.
3.5
Soulful and full of emotions, I'm just not personally a fan of his tone and much prefer the original versions of covered song but nevertheless solid record.
A nice soul album composed by a mix of very cheerful tunes and some heartfelt ballads. The man certainly does sings with a lot of passion and there are some very lively performances, both coming from the singer and the instruments. My criticism about this album comes from me not being very excited about soul in general. I think it is a nice style, but I am not incredibly excited about it, except for some particular acts, such as Nina Simone. So while I enjoyed this album for its passion and fun, I'm also not particularly moved about it.
Hearing the cover of Satisfaction was fun! I had to look it up because I briefly wondered whether in fact this version came first
It's okay
Fave: My girl
Hoge 3
Really great album, a lot of covers though.
such a signature voice fr
Number: 127 Date: 05/10/2026 Artist: Otis Redding Album: Otis Blue Year: 1965 Genre: 60s Soul Familiarity: Well-versed (4) Rating: 3 Lot's of great tunes, all covers though except for one. Surely there must be something more representative of his own work that could be included on this list. 4 my personal rating 3 suitability for this list 3 impact ----------------------------------------------- 4 composite rating
Otis is great at karaoke!
Pretty much exactly what I expected to be honest. A great voice, but not a whole lot of variety, despite the back end of the album being loaded with popular covers.
I found it boring. I’ve listened to the original recordings so much that the songs in general lack impact.
Solid, however nothing jumped out hard.
Wenz: I think the album is nice, but not really my type of songs. Wonderful World will be my choice in this album. Sherma: wait I can’t get no satisfaction is quite a banger tho!
Pleasant but i wouldn’t listen to it again. Just not my thing
Songs I like less good than I like them.
Great voice. Great soul. Many good covers.
First album of the 1001. Interesting to hear what I assume are the originals of what have been covered by others. Not quite my normal listening genre, but enjoyed anyway.
Hittiä hitin perään damn boi.
If I inherited this as part of my grandparents’ record collection, I’d be thrilled to throw it on from time to time. I wouldn't seek it out, however. It's very well made, but it just falls flat for me.
Good.
I guess I like it? It's not my "taste", but it was fun listening to something I wouldn't usually listen to.
Pleasant enough
Damn good album. Filled with good covers that pull from a variety of different genres all into the blues realm. Throw this on over a BBQ or on the road and you will not be disappointed. Favorite track was Rock Me Baby.
Ya gitu deh
Some good tunes but I wouldn't return to it
It is a very solid album some songs that are good I think I have heard better soul music but this one isn't bad, I could easily recommend it to someone wanting to listen to soul music.
Pretty cool listen
"I've been loving you too long" är en perfekt femstjärnig singel. Burkes "Down in the valley" tycker jag Otis och kanske framförallt bandet lyckas bräcka, "Wonderful world" gör dom också nåt riktigt bra av. Stark trea
Pleasant album, Otis Redding has a great soulful voice and he did a great job making these songs his own. It was good but I’ll never return to it. 3 stars
7/10 - good soul music
Didn't really like it at all till the last song but loved that one last song

Great emotion and voice. A lot of covers. Not my favorite album of his.
Can’t say it’s particularly good, can’t say it’s particularly bad. Cool cover. Three.
A pleasant listen. A good number of them were songs that I already have preferred versions of unfortunately.
This is undoubtedly a cornerstone album, not only for the genre, but for music itself. But as an experience, it just never really grabbed me. I think there is plenty to like, but it never really crosses over into truly moving territory throughout the entire runtime. I'm not sure many of the covers are my preferred option, but that doesn't mean it's bad at all. There's also a chance that soul as a genre just barely misses me when compared to it's cousin R&B. Highlight: You Don't Miss Your Water
should listen to more blues stuff.
I like Otis, easy to listen to, doesn't blow me away though
I am generally not a fan of albums that are mostly covers, with only a few exceptions to that rule (Signed, Sealed, Delivered). This one rips, though. Otis can sing his head off and his backing band no doubt deserves more than they got paid for this record. For what it is, this is really great, I just don't know that its for me. 3.2
Nice album not into blues on my way to work!
started off boring, finished strongly. few great songs in there. Enjoyable
Helt ok platta. Lagom sköna låtar. Wonderful world är ju trevlig. Intressant med en cover på satisfaction också. Inget som drar iväg över tre dock. Småputtrigt.
Overall good album, but the number of covers does bring this on to 3 instead of 4
Otis Redding singing cover songs did not disappoint.
pretty bad ass album will definitely save songs.
Old school rock, upbeat algunas, otras mas tranqui, otras mas estilo "romántico". Me gusta
A couple of classic hits in this album showcase Otis' vocal skills A pretty good collection, though I do find the band a little instrusive at times
not bad, but not exactly my taste, but still good.
It’s fun and sounds fresh many years later
What a fantastic voice. I feel like singing his gotten too fancy for this type of voice these days.
This is fine. Just fine. These types of albums start to all run together. Great music and singing of mostly covers. The originals and the covers start to run together. Not sure why the 60a were so full of people singing covers and not writing original music.
A solid outing into the soul genre, and a strong example of soul by anyone's ear. I simply am not a soul person. This is surely in the upper echelons of its breed, but as soul music isn't something I would normally seek out I am unlikely to touch any of this album's content again. Admittedly I'm rarely a fan of covers, so this album featuring them quite abundantly took something from the album's identity for me, but that's solely (ba-dum) my issue. If you like soul I'm sure you'll see more from this album than I will.
The mid-60s were weird. Only in 1965 could you see someone cover Sam Cooke and The Rolling Stones in the same album. Other than that, it was a decent album. A lot of this kind of soul covers the same three topics in the same three ways, so it did get old by the end, even despite its really short runtime. It's not bad, just pretty forgettable.
Not bad but not my type of music.
All the feels. Old school bangers.
Super cute album obviously Makes me want to have a wedding in vegas No notes! i love it actually just not my vibe always!
I enjoyed this album, but I like the originals of some of the songs better than his cover versions.
Ole Man Trouble - 3/5 Respect - 4/5 A Change Is Gonna Come - 3.5/5 Down in the Valley - 3.5/5 I've Been Loving You Too Long - 3/5 Shake - 4/5 My Girl - 5/5 Wonderful World - 4/5 Rock Me Baby - 3/5 (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction - 2.5/5 You Don't Miss Your Water - 2.5/5
Done
Controversially, i don’t love most of this, but My Girl and You Don’t Miss Your Water are peak. Solid overall though
En kuunnellut loppuun. 2,5/5.
its otis man
It was okay, mostly covers
I dig Otis Redding. So much energy and so much soul.
Not my favorite Otis songs (other than "I've Been Loving You Too Long") but his voice is so amazing, so evocative. Always cuts through.
nice
wonderful world sounds like someone’s taking a road trip in a movie you don’t miss your water sounds like a really nice song to slow dance to. liked ole man trouble too! can’t listen to down in the valley without vibing to the groove
Not an usual listen and it’s pretty mono themed which was a bummer for me
6/10
I feel like I've been learning that, while I appreciate the importance and the influence of blues and soul singers, I just don't really care to listen to them. This album isn't bad, there's nothing I dislike about it, it just doesn't really excite me all that much and I'm unlikely to ever return to it.
So many classics on this album wow, truly feels like hit after hit. You can feel the influence on music of all different styles. He has such an amazing voice too. Just timeless. Top Songs: Change Gonna Come, My Girl, Wonderful World
buen album tiene tres temones:my girl, wonderful world,(i can´t get no) satisfaction.
Listened in the car and while making lunch. I mean it's an album of mostly by a talented musician. It's fine.
2,8/5
Almost a 4, really high quality audio on this one
Mr soul
Bueno, pero repetitivo.
I liked some of this but i just get bored if i listen for too long
A classic
26/03/26
it's not my genre at all, but a girl can appreciate a good sax from time to time...
One of the best early soul blues singer's doing some classic songs from the era.
I wanted this album to be better than it is. His vocals are so great and some of this perfectly showcases it, but some feels let down by the arrangements. I was also surprised by the fact some of the staples i just prefer other singers versions.
This was just lovely, from start to finish. Quite odd hearing a man sing “Respect”, and there’s nobody who does “Change Gonna Come” any better than Sam Cooke, but this was some of the nicest background music I’ve had in quite a while from the generator.
Trad. soul that makes my feet tap and head nod to the beat. What's not to like!
"Otis Blue" is a statement of passion from Otis Redding. Concise and spirited, Otis is ably backed up by an energetic backing band as he performs a mixture of R&B covers and originals, offering fresh takes on songs such as "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" and "Respect". While it can be criticised for being monothematic and lacking variation in terms of tone (as well as a sub-par album cover), with the exception of "I've Been Loving You Too Long", Otis' expressive vocals ensure its legacy.
Meh, nothing particularly amazing, but not bad.
On muuten tosi hyvää soulia ja mitälie blues rokkia tää onkaan. Ja nauhoituksen laatu on tosi hyvä vaikka onkin varmaan remasteroitu. On kyllä meneviä kappaleita. Parhaat: Respect, I've Been Loving You Too Long
Such a great voice. I liked most of the songs, but something just wasn't clicking with me and this album.
Haven't listened to yet due to holidays, super interested though I do like a few well known otis redding songs!
The songs he didn’t cover where the only ones worth listening to
all covers, and a little much for a full album. Not bad, but the originals were better for the most part for a lot of these.
Strong vocals and good songs. Redding's rendition of (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction is very soulful and a great variation of the Rolling Stones classic, as are his other covers. His original songs are good too.
Otis Redding’s voice is undeniably remarkable — raw, expressive, and instantly gripping. But despite that, 𝘖𝘵𝘪𝘴 𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦 doesn’t strike me as a particularly special album. It’s a strong showcase for his talent, full of passionate performances, yet it never quite comes together as a cohesive or standout soul statement. Good to hear once, but not an album that stays with me.
Otis blue this one. Really wasn't that bothered by this. All the same, it's only 30 minutes long.
Incredible vocals. Great music, just not my personal favourite.
Covers?
favorites: down in the valley; i've been loving you too long; satisfaction (i can't get no)
It's ok, the brass are too similars, but still my kind of shit
Good voice. The music is a bit too bluesy for me but might be good as background music.
It's OK, but an album largely composed of cover versions?
Some great tracks a lot of horns, pretty cool album
Pretty torn on this one. It’s Otis Redding, so gotta give some credit, but to be honest, I don’t understand the point of a lot of these songs. The covers are mostly fairly insipid, and nowhere near as good as the original. ‘My Girl’ in particular is ruined by the horn section being way too loud in the mix, and just doesn’t really suit that song. Whilst it is nice to hear the original of ‘Respect’, Aretha made it so much her own only a short time later. Disappointing.
favs: change gonna come, ive been loving you too long, shake I think Soul isn't my cup of tea, but it was a fun listen!
Funky. Groovy. I like. Definitely a vinyl for the dinner parties
kind of funny how this era of music involved everyone singing the same covers but they are all good so I'm not mad in the slightest!
Love Otis. Enjoyed the covers. 3.5/5.
The best soul album I've heard so far. Still not great. 3/5
Love the album. So far ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’ is my fav track - so is I've Been Loving You Too Long!
Really like Otis Redding’s voice and knew at least half the songs on here. Overall solid but nothing stood out in particular. I enjoyed the vibe and the band playing with him was pretty great so nothing to complain about there. Nothing terrible but nothing incredible.
instrumentals are nice but i didn't really care for the vocals
Love Otis and love these songs, but an album of cover songs, however well done can't score highly here. The list of contributors to the album is like a who's who of soul from the era and everything is played brilliantly. But i prefer the originals. A change is gonna come is powerful in its simplicity of message and doesnt need all of the extras added here. And taking on Respect is an insane task.
first time hearing something like this its a pretty good album i found a few good songs i liked lets see i might hear it again and might a like a few more
So...was this a partial cover album? Not complaining since the whole album itself was very chill.
Pretty good soul. I feel like I undertand hip hop samples a bit better after listening to this. Decent
that was a really funky, interesting album to listen to. otis got a real soul voice. you can listen to this album on sunday evening to cheer yourself up a bit before the working days begin
I listened to this album while I’m learning. It was the perfect music to hear. But not for my free time
Alright soul not that special
3.7/5 - I listen to songs within this genre and similar artists. This album was a bit too slow for me. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for that tempo.
Good Album. Started off with a bang, then mellowed out quite a bit... Amazing voice, very nice to listen too. Enjoyed the grooves, gave this record a 2nd listen. A few covers, enjoyed his take.
Good listen. A lot of cool soulful covers. Nothing super crazy. Average album. Shouldn’t be on this list. Another artist on this list just because of who the artist is. This seems to be an ongoing trend with this 1001.
if I wanted to listen to blues, this could be a staple for me. unfortunately I am not often in the mood to listen to blues... but it is still really great!
Once again this project delivers less a 'you *must* listen to this album' and more a 'someone just really liked this song'... Not sure how a collection of predominantly covers makes the cut over some of OR's other work.
Old school soul by a legend in this genre.
Not bad. Would make good background music to a film, where there is a bit of action taking place. Higher tempo, brassy, very 60's/70's feel
it was good. but i think he has better albums lowkey
3.5 Lost 0.5 for "Satisfaction" cover.
Very good interesting sounds however not really my thing lad oi
I don't really have loads to say about this one. The vocals were nice although a bit lacking at times. The instrumentals on some of the songs was really good but other than that it felt quite generic. overall a good album 3 stars A strong 7 out of 10
Really enjoyed Redding's singing (although, it's more due to me liking soul singing than Redding being specifically exceptional). The songs weren't particularly interesting beyond that, though. The instrumentation did fit well with the singing and was pleasant, but over the whole album it felt quite repetitive. For soul, I prefer the instrumentation to be technically complex, which means I wasn't quite a fan and got bored fairly quick
Obviously the main focus of this album is on the singing, and this is undeniably done incredibly well. Wow. Great accompanying instrumentation. However not my kinda music really and I don’t think I’d put it on again
Very good album. Great 30 minutes of songs. Otis’ voice is fantastic and the big band playing with him complement him perfectly. Respect, My Girl and Wonderful world are all bangers. Satisfaction really surprised me. Excellent cover
Great vocals and interpretations.
Some good songs later Covered by many different artists
Good album, but majority are covers of songs I think are sung better by other artists.
Covers but his voice and style are so iconic is carries the whole thing
Pretty good covers
Jazzy. Not totally my cup of tea but very easy to enjoy and it's cool "background music?". Like it's super comfy to be in low volume and listen to it. I imagine myself eating a good burguer in a good wooden restaurant while this would play type of ambient. The songs "My girl" and "I've been loving you too long" were my favorites. When I think of this I think of people dancing at weddings/ jazzy places ahah!
Great soul album. so many hits, sounds like every movie soundtrack set in the 50/60s.
Enjoyable, a nice listen
It is surprising how many songs are familiar from many US movies/shows It is a great good to know
This album is catchy and contains some hits! But it is a bit repetitive, and the album in its whole can’t keep me entertained over a long period. It’s more of a great background album, with a couple of songs that you can sing along to. A 3++
Good vibes
It’s an iconic voice but it’s a shame that this is essentially a collection of cover versions
Surprised how many 'other artists' songs' he did first. I like the album. It's a bit middle of the road for me though. I don't love it. Definitely don't hate it.
Really love the vocals on all the songs. The arrangements are also awesome, I might just like brass though.
Nice album, but would have enjoyed listening to less cover songs so maybe not the album I would have chosen for the list.
I didn’t listen to every song, but of all the songs I did listen to my favourite was ‘A change is gonna come’ it’s definitely the sort of song I can imagine playing on a sunny Sunday morning :)
great album just not my style but i can definitely appreciate it
boring
She is funky and I get why people like her, just not for me
No song on this album is bad. However, that is all I find myself able to say about it. Nothing really stands out to me. It's good, that's it. Three stars. (Favorite track: Change Gonna Come.)
It has Calm Vibes with a vintage sound. I really enjoyed this. Soul is one of my favourite genre's so that doesn't surprise me a bit. It is catchy and just nice but not overly special.
Loved it. Would listen to it in the morning, summer, making coffee, 8am ish before its too hot outside and there’s still a morning breeze.
Nicely done
not really my style but I enjoyed it
Dit is mooi, ken het wel vaag. Maar ik kan het zeker waarderen.
Good, probably won't listen again - good backing band but a lot of the songs need Redding to sustain the notes a bit longer for me. Not my vibe, but I can see why people like it.
nice covers. i prefer the originals though
He owns it, solid hits, great sound, great voice. But it plays as one long piece. Maybe it needs more listens than I had time for.
Smoothly done
This was good but not my usual style. I didnt know my girl came from this album
Sounds all the same honestly. Going through it felt like I was listening to the same song. I like the vibes though.
Overall, a good album, rock me, baby. I did not enjoy, though I felt as though it was too long to repetitive consider considering everything else in the album, overall solid album
The music is unique and good but not mindblowing
Solid soul album with a great singer. Its not often I feel in the mood for straight up soul music but next time I know what to search for!
3/5
Well, not bad. More like Otis Redding does covers. I have not done any research on this record so I am not sure if it should have made the list. I lot of the covers were versions by legends, which I would have preferred their versions.
Beautiful album - so easy to listen to and brings back memories of happy times.
Not Bad, dont mind it at all.
Not a bad listen. Not my style really, but I definitely appreciate the sound. Ole man trouble is my favorite.
Man I love Otis Redding. He has an iconic voice and he's surely one of the best artists of all time. This album has great songs of great quality but I don't think an album consisting of only cover songs should be in the top 1000 of all time. I have no hate for Otis but all of the original songs are better and I can't give this more than 3 stars
solid soul album not much to say
Pretty good! Just below 4
Nice album but a bit repetitive
The Black Keys are so annoyed they aren’t Otis
Good voice and nice songs. It seems too boring, yet still provides entertainment.
Good stuff. Wish it was longer! Some of these covers are kinda out there but I suspect that was the point.
Great
He's great, not a huge fan of some of the covers.
I feel like I should like this more than I do, unfortunately. The production limits the instrumentation, and I'm not really the biggest fan of his voice.
Was alright
There are certainly worse albums I could have gotten on my wife and I’s fifth wedding anniversary. Highlights: A Change Is Gonna Come, Down in the Valley, Shake, My Girl, Wonderful World, (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction
Pretty beautiful stuff
Otis did a great job singing these covers. It was okay.
I don't really resonate with this.
Love Otis, although this album not my fav.
listened to this album first thing in the morning and it really got me in my feels in a good way. this feels like what music is supposed to sound like.
Good 60s with a few hits too
6 - AVERAGE
One of the greatest voices of all time, but too many covers. Great songs overall but I'd honestly rather just listen to his greatest hits.
Otis Redding has a great voice and I'm glad I listened to this, but nothing jumped out at me as groundbreaking or iconic on this album.
It's crazy how many songs I have heard before are covers from this album, a great listen. Nothing to add to a daily or weekly rotation though.
Oh boy a cover album. But well done! 3/5.
Yea I mean, I like this, will listen again. But its a lot of covers.
Otis has a great voice, and some of the songs on here are great, but it lacks that extra bit of something magic to really push it above and beyond 3 stars.
A very pleasant surprise. I don’t usually enjoy this era of music but this album was very well done.
Some excellent songs on here, but it did just make me want to listen to Sam Cooke instead
Sterk 3
3.0
Not my thing but it’s good and respect it
Meh
A good album overall but didn't like it as much as I thought I would. Maybe it's just the low tempo similarity of most songs, none of them really wowed me. This is the soul equivalent of rock ballads, not bad but goes for a soft feeling that lacks impact.
The vibe was good for the most part. The horns were jarring at times. Leaning positive/neutral on this.
Da e kje så dumt
Classic Otis
Otis is a brilliant singer of soul music - I very much dislike the genre, so great as this it, it ain't fer me!
Otis sounds incredible but the horns are a bit annoying.
Otis Redding it timeless. but this was mostly covers. so not my favorite of his records.
Made me just want to go and listen to Sam Cooke to be fair. Lots of classic songs with excellent delivery and an incredible backing band. Often pine for the original regardless though.
Classic soul, def enjoyed a few songs here… it’s missing a little grove that I’ve gotten used to with some of the later works for me
A fun take on some famous songs. No real particular standouts but something I'd easily listen to in the background.
Good songs great voice were they covers? 6.0
Cool collection of songs but it loses a star for being mostly covers.
Once again this is mainly a cover album. Great voice but can't give more than a 3
Solid blues stuff. Some classics on here. Not quite my jam.
i have some respect to this album but it didnt give me too much satisfaction. and for the two tracks i just mentioned, i like aretha and mick's cover(/original) version respectively. 3/5
Like a decent action move. Fun once, maybe still enjoyable a second time, but ultimately lacks variation and depth to make it stand out to me. 3.5/5
fajne 3*
Plutot sympa, j'aime bien chill mais cool
some hits but not really my thing
I think I liked Otis best when he wasn’t pushing so hard in those high energy tunes. “A Change Is Gonna Come” and “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long” were standouts for me.
This is a solid three, probably a 3.4 as most of them are covers. It does not cross new ground but covers old ground in a solid way. I would listen to this if I needed a good start for a hard day to come. 3.4
Great album. Starts really well. Not as good towards the end but pretty good.
Great voice, but too many covers for one album.
Lots of covers
