i really liked it! chill
I was dreading this, thinking it was going to be some overly long 90s electronica album. I forgot I've had a Spiritualized album already and that it's space/dream pop and shoegaze. But holy shit was this good. I haven't had anything I've enjoyed this much in a long time. I don't even LIKE shoegaze but I loved this. WTF.
Really cool spacey album which I am glad the music matched up with the really spooky hilarious looking album cover. Not sure if I am correct but Run sounded like a Call me the Breeze Skynyrd cover. The ending to Shine a Light when they introduced the horns was really cool. This is one of those albums that I could listen to all day long. Nothing crazy in your face but perfectly melts together with the noises and cool instrumentals. I could see this being a 5 if I was in the right mindset but for now while working at my desk it is a high 4. Give me 1 bite of edible on a Saturday and I could see that changing, so I will give it a 5.
Chillest thing I've ever heard tbh Fav Songs: You Know It's True, I Want You, Run, Angel Sigh, Sway
Where has this been all my life! What an enjoyable experience, especially the latter half. Atmospheric, emotional, catchy.
Stravagante ma ci sta.

9/10
i don't think this is an album that is going to be for everyone, and i don't know how "essential" it is to listen to, but i really enjoyed it, especially for background music while i worked.
Loved it. A rare 5 for me.
Not sure what specifically about this albim, but I loved this! Something about the ethereal waves of sound, weird lyrics, experimenting with time signatures to make you feel like something isn’t quite normal.. unashamed 5 stars from me, this is the entire purpose of the 1001 project for me - explore different artists and genres, you never know what new favorite you’ll find!
Cool, atmospheric.
I ascended to this album.
Surprised by how much I liked this!
I loved this album
always considered the cooler spiritualized album - plenty lovely complex nothings to wash around
spacey
One of the greatest records ever made
This album is a slow burning masterpiece. Every song builds and swells into something beautiful. There are elements of Britpop, ambient music, and electronic elements. The music itself is incredibly textured and has some of the best emotional releases.
So good and relaxing. Memories
This was the soundtrack to my summer in about 2001. 22 years later (!) and it takes me straight back to being high in some field somewhere. I know Spiritualized found success in love songs, but it's the longer sonic voyages that really stand out here. Just absolutely unlike anything that was around at the time (shoegaze? stoner rock? ambient?) and unlike anything since. Sway slow. Stay low.
Spiritualized is such a vibe, but it's the vibe I want on this lazy Friday afternoon. Just love this album.
This album had me tearing up. So incredibly beautiful. This album is definitely going on my backpacking playlist.
The evolution from Spacemen3 through this and then onwards was a thing of beauty and a very happy thing for me
The industry monster was pushing Let It Come Down heavily in 2001 and it seemed like for a couple months or so that was the only music that existed. I remember the album packaging included a 3d embossment of a pigtailed girl with her eyes closed. Until now, I had no idea this album preceded it by about 10 years and now I understand. This album is amazing, nearly impeccable. Shine a Light IS impeccable. The balance of the album is just amazing. It's drone-y and easy to get lost in the reverb and feedback. What a great find.
I liked it, it was mellow!
Yeah this one’s a gem
Fühlt sich an als würde man wirklich im Weltall schweben. Sehr stark. Light 9/10
This was really relaxing and honestly just really nice. I feel like I restate the same things a lot but it was just a calm album.
Full of 70s era psychedelia without any of the elements of dissonance common for that time. It drives on and on but never ceases to be beautiful and uplifting. One criticism would be that there are quite a few parts that sound verrryy Stone Roses. Not necessarily a bad thing but I did have to check who came first (SR by a few years). They're a bloody consistent bunch too, have been steadily releasing for a solid 30 years now.
Aw, too soon! Only just had ladies and gentlemen, hoped they'd space them out a bit. Ha. Pun not intended. Anyway, love this most low key Spiritualized album. Sometimes even more than aforementioned masterpiece. Certainly Shine A Light is one of the best songs they ever did. Everything builds so gently and beautifully, gliding into a blissed out haze. Elsewhere, both If I Were With Her Now and Take Your Time's one-paced, effortlessly rolling groove take some beating. Angel Sigh blows your socks off, Sway is simply gorgeous. This album starts and finishes so strongly. I'm not as fond of I Want You and the reworking of the Velvet's Run, Run, Run, but they're both still fun. Plus you get to have a little sleep and a float in the breeze in the middle of the album.
One of those rare albums that just works morning, noon or night, weekend, Monday, drunk, sober. Just suits all 500 versions of me.
Didn't know I needed this.
Really beautiful. Going to listen to them a few more times now. Think I've found something I really like.
cool
Very cool
My most seen live band until I moved to Australia. Saw them a bunch of times touring when they only had this album and it could be my favourite, (although big shout out to The Complete Works Vol. 1). Back when it was Spiritualized as an actual functioning band, not just the guy from Spaceman 3 with a random cast of players on each album. There's a coherence about it with its simplicity when compared to some of the later albums. Saw them at Glastonbury playing these songs in 1992 and 1993 so this album is forever the sound of sunset at Glastonbury on a perfect summer's day.
loved this when it came out, still have the version with 4 conjoined song suites. The influences seem pretty obvious now and the middle sags a bit, but still an absolute wonder.
So apparently I gave four stars to "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space," would it be blasphemous to give this five?
Spiritualized are what me dreams sounds like. I was lucky enough to see them live a few weeks ago and it was amazing So of course I give this 5 stars
Zoals verwacht heel veel fuzz. Maar een aangename verrassing. Ei zo na postrock, en dat kan ik zeker smaken
Brilliant album.
Nostalgia bomb
Odličan. Ovog sam najmanje sluša ali je super
I liked this a lot x
You know I've Been Here Before etc. is a great begin of a great Spiritualized record, which together with the Ladies & Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space album, are two of the best albums released in the 90s. I assume the latter album (being their best known album?) is on the list too (together with at least one Spacemen 3 album) but Lazer Guided Melodies is even better. To compare: some time ago Pitchfork published a nice list of 20 "Dream Pop" albums (Think Galaxie 500, Cocteau Twins, Beach House, Julee Cruise etc). LGM is on place 11 in this list. But even though I would perhaps not qualify LGM as "dream pop" (too much motorik) it should have been much higher in that list...
Brilliant
beautiful, made me cry
I liked this a lot! The album name suits the sound. Overall it just calms your mind very well, I didn't really listen to the lyrics but they seemed to match the music!
Amazing. Life changing 5 out of 5 10 out of 10 . One of my favorite albums now
Glorious, one of the best discoveries so far. Beautiful stuff
unexpected, but really good sounds to me!
Their best album and a classic
Listen to this more! Really enjoyed!
Unsure what to expect but loved it right off the bat. Adding this to my list of go-to albums.
Never heard of them. Never heard them. Not my kinda music. But rather like it!

The ultimate chill out band
The electronic child of the Velvet Underground. That’s a good lookin’ kid!
Favourite Songs: Take Your Time
Whenever someone tells that they aren’t religious, but they are “spiritual” I have a visceral reaction. The name of this band repels me. But knowing the band name has nothing to do with any kind of spiritual nonsense, I was able to put our differences aside long enough to greatly enjoy this album, because I am an amazing person.
Overall, I’m quite gay for spiritualized, but I’ve never given this record much time. The truely atrocious album cover was a big barrier to entry. The listen, however, was good times in both the office and family environment. There is no third place.
It sure as heck ain't the kind of dream pop I'm used to (see: 'The Soft Bulletin'). But I'm generally always down for these kinda "relax and float away" albums, so I can't pretend I don't still like it. Even if not as much as this group's "relax and float in space" album.
Sometimes albums just have a certain vibe to them, and I love the chill ones this record gives me. 4.5 bumped down to 4.
I’m at a 4.5 that I’ll bump down to a 4. This is SO close to being a great album from start to finish, but it just falls short on a handful of tracks for me. Their sense of atmosphere here, while not as polished & immersive as it is on “Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space”, is certainly already a marked improvement over what was on “Playing With Fire” from the Spaceman 3 days. When this album is at its best, it gets kinda close to that floating vibe; not in space, but at least a few feet off the ground, and most potently on “Shine a Light”, which might be the best track here. This album’s slow drift from a rock-driven soundscape to a more atmospheric & spiritually driven one by the end is done relatively well, & as a total package, I think the entire hour is used pretty effectively. It’s the snags along the way that are dropping this from a 4.5 that had the potential to bump up to a 4.5 that will go down to a 4, though I still think it’s an album worth one’s time. The first snag is, ironically, the opener – I think “You Know It’s True” just isn’t very striking as a tonesetter for the entire project, at least from a listener’s perspective. It fits thematically with the rest of the album, but it doesn’t do a great job of actually showcasing what the album at large is going to sound like. There’s no real evolution in the track until it’s nearly done, and even then, it just feels like instrumentation for the sake of it. The second snag, though not as big of a snag, is “Symphony Space” – I’m all for a great atmospheric track when it’s done well, and while I think this is a really good listen & a fascinating soundscape to sit in, it never hooked me in with a broader sense of an actual musical narrative. I know that’s weird to say, but my imagination didn’t hit the same potent points as it did on the tracks leading up to it. It’s a good soundscape, but the lack of an actual evolution / shift in the soundscape at all never gave me the outstretched hand to feel something deeper from it. It’s certainly a track that could hit differently on another day, but on a first pass here, it just felt like 6 minutes of a car ride with nothing but grass to see out the windows. The third snag is the last track, “200 Bars” – it’s just a little flat as a closing track, & one that doesn’t feel like it properly wraps up the album. The concept is cool, & using the length of the track itself is a novel idea, but the first 100 bars don’t do a great job of selling the sense of inevitability that’s meant to be portrayed here. The soundscape is a bit stagnant & the counting feels a bit trite. After that, the final 100 bars feel a bit too folksy in a way that just doesn’t mesh with the first 100. It’s a track with missed potential, and as the final track to a portion of the album that seemed to have a much more spiritual lean, it doesn’t really thematically fit either. I know focusing on the negatives doesn’t feel too great, so here’s a bit of scattered praise for the rest of the tracks: “If I Were with Her Now” does a good job of earning its big layered outro, “I Want You” has a really good soundscape behind its lyrics, “Run” has a nice Beatles-y vibe, “Smiles” is short but effective, “Step into the Breeze” feels like sex mixed with spirituality, “Take Your Time” (while monotonous) does a good job of expressing its frustrations with the ignorant, “Shine a Light” has an incredible sense of progression with its plea to God, “Angel Sigh” does a great job with its explosive guitar work, & “Sway” (while awkwardly structured) is an interesting take on bearing one’s sins. Those other 9 tracks here range from good to great, and the entire album is generally enjoyable. However, those three snags, especially the last one, are why I feel inclined to bump this down to a 4, though it is an album with the potential to bump itself back up someday. If nothing else, I was hoping for an album that had at least 70% of what made “Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space” feel so good to listen to, and I think I got that. The basis of that album is here, and their overall style feels well established for a debut album. I just wish it had a little bit more behind it, to really immerse the listener more in the well-intentioned tones of each track. Regardless, it’s a 4.5 that could go back up someday, but for now, it’s a recommended 4. I’m glad it’s on the list.
sounds futuristic and revolutionary for its age
When I was in college, my friend was really into frisbee golf. In a very Spiritualized manner, we spent a full night tripped out on some psychedelic or another, and then we walked to the university so I could take a French exam. I came out of the big test, and he was still there, geeked out on drugs, throwing his frisbees across the quadrangle. He was trying to see, and had been for an hour and a half, how close he could get to the back of people’s heads without hitting them or without them noticing. I yelled at him and told he was crazy, but then he assured me, ‘no worries! These are laser guided missiles!’ He then threw a particularly hard frisbee a good three hundred yards, and this thing nearly grazed some poor girl’s head. But she didn’t notice. That’s all I could think about while listening to this album.
Great 90’s vibes
Enjoyed this, feels like it sits somewhere along the lines of the Stones Roses, Jesus and Mary Chain, and Primal Scream.
Never heard of this Band. Usually not my type of music but enjoyed this quite a bit.
Well I got spiritualized. Low 4 for this one, their other one was better.
Cool album name and cover, perfect for writing my final essay of uni!
Halfway in, really digging this...great bass on take your time...symphony space is just atmosphere.
At first I thought this was a fairly flat recording but as it went on OMG! I just loved it. I am really glad this group is on the list as I've never heard them before.
i remember actually really unexpectedly vibing w this !!!!! also sorry to be awful i got distracted by atmos but im back !!!
Very good spacy dream vibe was cool to exspirence. Definitely liked the later half more. Standouts: I want you, shine a light, angel sigh, and 200 bars
Weirdly funnnnn reminds me of the jam FOUR
Another my bio-dad had sent me. I thought I liked it more than I did. There was a lot of parts (toward the middle) that dragged and, while they were doing things that sounded interesting, they weren't interesting..? I still like the first 1/3 and last 1/3 quite a lot.
I don't care much for Spiritualized, but this album feels very special. It's so peaceful that it feels like meditating while floating in the sky. It must be a great hangover record, need to try it. What bothered me about other Spiritualized albums is that everything is so drenched in reverb to the point where it's just too mellowed out. The production on this album is a lot clearer which is a welcome change.
hipnotico, ambiental, psicodelico transmite soledad, desconexion, viaje de noche una experiencia continua y casi meditativa me encanta la portada
Quality
Bastante relajante la vaina, me sorprendió para bien
(84/100)
I felt quite “Spiritualized” after listening to this dreamy music album, so JAMC, I did really enjoy it, I’ve downloaded a few tracks too!
Never heard this before and enjoyed it. I could call it good ambiance music but its a bit more than that. It has something a bit psychedelic and hypnotizing. Nice discovery here.
Not always in the mood for it and doesn't reach the highs of Ladies and Gentlemen, still a big fan though.
was skeptical of album cover but liked the vibe of this. Was very chill but interesting
OoOOoOOoOOoOOOoOoOOoOOOOooOoooo~
Preciso ouvir melhor
Early Spiritualized. Takes a while to get going, but side two from Shine a Light on shows the space rock masters Spiritualized would become.
Spacey, indeed. These guys have been pretty consistent in their sound and quality over the years. Their more recent albums have a bit more hooks, I’d say, but they drone-y but fitfully melodic songs here on their first record are mostly satisfying.
Ikke helt så mindblowing som den sidste vi havde med dem, men stadig et vildt lækkert album
Sangene passer så fedt sammen! (Det er en gammel favorit fra gymnasietiden)
Great album from start to finish
First album by them was great and this was no different.
Very interesting album and I was not familiar with them before.
79/100. A great and nicely composed record. It is very soft and calm for the most part and while I expected a little more "chaos" it was still a really pleasant experience to sit through. The melodies repeat and slowly build in intensity without ever fully exploding into noise. It is a very deliberate and beautiful trip.
Never would have heard this if not for this project and I really loved it. Thought I would skip it but keep going back and putting on random songs from the album.
Very Stone Roses
Atmospheric tracks that I REALLY like. More to explore here
4/10/26. This band is always a more challenging listen but keeps me engaged. For me this is on par with their 1997 record.
i was pleasantly surprised by this album very good nice and chill and summery just a bit bloated
Never heard of this band. After reading the description I think something of the album may be lost in translation when streaming it. I have no idea what to expect from "space rock" Album cover is sorta gross. I love it. The album itself-no particular song really stands out but by the time Run came around I found myself engrossed in the flow. This may be a weird comparison but this album is closer to King Crimson in vibe than the usual pop/rock we often get served up. This is like... shoegaze, but if it was actually good. Shine a Light is a really interesting... I want to call it a cover but i'm not 100% sure it's supposed to be. Either way it's a cool song.
dreamy, woozy, lush, layered
This album felt like a revelation. I figured it wouldn’t be that popular and maybe it’s because I’m on a huge dream pop kick right now, but this was such a beautiful listen. It’s the first album in a while from a group I’d never heard about that I just fell in love with. It’s a near 5 for me but I’m keeping it at a constrained 4 for now. What a trip.
Pas le style d’album que j’écouterais seul mais j’ai passé un agréable moment
perfect album for gazing at shoes
wonderful, beautiful, very big music, earnest enough to meet the challenges of one's most difficult experiences but loud enough to drown them out if need be. the last four tracks are particularly great - long, unwieldy pleas for divine intervention or, barring that, getting totally obliterated on a million different drugs that's to say nothing of the record's infatuation with the earliest days of rock n roll, which i find very powerful. love how these guys elevate the sounds they grew up with into something blown-out and cosmic, like they're trying to impress upon listeners the outsize influence of those records. just beautifully sincere stuff, love this!
Agradável, produção boa, um pouco mais longo do que o necessário.
chouettes vibes ! sur la fin un peu l'impression que l'album me criait : "AH t'AS AIMÉ LIFE IS STRANGE ? TU VEUX CHIALER UN COUP ?" c'est donc un banger.
Weird album, mostly atmospheric, but not bad at all. Really enjoyed this one today. Not something I'd listen to all the time, but definitely an evening, chilled listen.
Heard a little bit of Spiritualized before but this was the first time listening to an entire album. It was very good, reminds me a bit of latter era Talk Talk, though I think Spiritualized do lose their way a bit on the longer tracks which aren't quite as exquisite as East of Eden but still sounded good.
Very cool, liked the vibes
Erikoismeinnki, hyvin omalaatuinen meininki ja soundi. Jumitusmusaa. 4/5
Hypnotic and enchanting
11/03/2026 1. you know it's true - like the guitars and bass... very dreamy... very sweet lyrics. *2. if i were with her now - love the distorted guitar... bass just started. very psychedelic. oooo instrumental is great.... are there horns? *3. i want you - love this!! 4. run - a lot rockier.... maracas? loving this album!! bit trancey how everything keeps repeating... *5. smiles - oooo love the organs. lovelovelove this one... completely gorgeous <3 *6. step into the breeze - the violins and the bass... love the guitar in this one. 7. symphony space - love how the prev track faded into this one... one min in, guessing this is instrumental? nice, very ambient :) *8. take your time - bluesy guitar. love how loud the bass is in this album. love how this one is building up... love the keyboard/synths(?) near the end. *9. shine a light - liking the start of it... drums are nice. love the dreamy, slidey guitar... wow love the horns. love how screechy it's getting. great!! 10. angel sigh - really nice :) 11. sway - really nice again... *12. 200 bars - love the beat drop... knew a few songs from ladies and gentlemen.... but never listened to a full spiritualized album and really loved it <3 will relisten to again soon!
Had never heard about Spiritualized before. This kind of music deserves a place in my rotation. Very chilly. Like that. After some stupid country and Western yodeling and strange folk and rap music this suggestion restored my confidence in this project. Thank you!
This is a vibes album. So far, Run was a solidly good vibe. Take Your Time, also cool vibes. This album is a mood and I'm gonna come back to it in the future.
Lovely bit of space rock.
This album is both a sonic masterpiece and my least favourite Spiritualized album! Definitely more of the Spaceman 3 vibe feel that his later efforts where more depth and variety is added.
First listen to this record, started with their next album many years ago. This band is fantastic.
Was surprised by this, really enjoyed it
Yeah this was vibes
Ba mi-o plăcut foooarte mult e chiar fain
I fw this shit.
Nice relaxing album
Yeah. I'm good with this now. I tried these guys out in the late 90's and didn't get it - there wasn't enough for me. Now, this is the vibe that I can do all day.
Those were some funky guitars.
Never heard of them before this, but really liked the album. Almost like Sigur Ros meets Britpop. Standout tracks were If I Were With Her Now, Shine a Light, and Angel Sigh.
Love the album art. Slow peaceful vibes of the first song at the start are what I need this morning. Definitely a neat ethereal album. I’m into it.
This was incredible. My brain seemed to sync with whatever energy this album was emitting and I got a lot of word processing done. I am a fan of this band's work when my cousin gave me one of their CD's (burnt). I've always liked the atmospheric indy sound.
Heel relaxt album. Leuke vondst!
I just dug this.
This was rad. I've enjoyed both Spiritualized albums we've gotten so far. I think my favorite part of this music is how spacey and progressive it is. There's a lot fluidity and movement in each track, but its also really spacey. I think the best parts of this record are a feature and a bug. I love the spaciness, but it does tend to run a bit long in the middle. They could have shaved 15 minutes off this one. Either way, I had a blast with this.
In the right mood, this is wonderful. I've no idea what the lyrics are, but the music takes me on a pleasant and comforting journey.
Viajante
Sucked me in, I really enjoyed the dreamy vibes, it feels like I'm floating in space. Occasionally a bit repetitive, otherwise I really enjoyed it.
I can understand why folk wouldn't necessarily like this but I did, I felt like I drifted along with it, like being in a small boat drifting down a river....good stuff & considering it was early 90's (I had to doublecheck) sounds a little ahead of its time.
Lush melodies as if I was floating through space. I'm glad I listened to this and it was very enjoyable.
Def one of my favs in a while ! I love how calming and relaxed 😌 it is and it was a great edition to my ride this morning to therapy !
Favorite track(s): If I Were with Her Now, Symphony Space, Take Your Time, Sway
When to listen: spacey, trippy, chill vibes. Idk why this album got hate on here I think it's unique and a fun listen. Is it... essential? Maybe not. But enjoyable!
Bra morgonmusik. Det lyste upp min morgonpendling
Ta mig ut i rymden och ta med en feting!
älskar detta!
I thought this sounded like Spacemen 3, and it's the same guys. I like Spacemen 3 and I like this. Slightly psych-rock, calm, meditative, a bit krautrock. Maybe 4 stars is a bit high but I like this a lot more than most of the albums I've given 3 stars.
this was really intriguing - wonderfully weird with some beautiful tracks and a way of pulling you in by how unique it is. definitely a fun listen even if it isn't everyone's thing
A rare album on the list that I’d not only never heard before, but didn’t know existed. I really enjoyed the sonic textures that get layered on as each song progresses. It felt a little like Jesus and Mary Chain if they weren’t as tied to the traditional pop/rock song structure. I felt like this was headed for a solid 4, but the length did start to get to me a little. Not every track justifies its runtime. That said, I enjoyed my time with Spiritualized and am interested to check out their more-successful work that followed this one. Still a light 4!
Surprising and excellent.
Interesting album that is a lot more spacey than contemporary Shoegaze albums were at the time. Apparently it also leaned harder into Blues, but I only heard a little of that. It does feel like there are some old standards here buried between layers of drone and feedback, makes for a pretty unique album. It does get a bit same-same at times, the sprawled out spaceyness makes it more monotone than other Shoegaze albums, which can already have some boring moments to begin with. Album cover on streaming is a lot less cool than the cover shown here too.
Was surprised by this - not sure why as I feel like Spiritualized have always been fairly well regarded. Really vibey, spacey rock music that sort of allow you to drift along with it.
This was not at all what I expected given the album name and band name. Rather relaxed semi ambient electronic music. Interesting. Probably requires more listening.
I know I've heard of this band before but not sure if I've listened to any of their stuff before. I'm digging the chill psych vibe with a great buildup in the first three songs. It's not bad, a bit too mellow for my taste, I would give it a 3.5 if I could.
Love this album
I’m very generous to psychedelic stuff and this definitely is.
3.5
This was a fun one!
What a great album. Hope there is more of this on the list.
Meeting me in a spacemen 3 / spiritualized phase, this fits right in.
I never look for this type of music, but I cannot deny that I like its laid back sound and creative choices.
Needs a relisten with quality headphones. Fav tracks: Run, Shine a Light. Saved a song: N RYM: N
Opening three-track run is INSANE
Actually pretty good
i think my dad has stockholm syndromed me into liking this
Mellow gold
200 bars kind of goated?
++*: Take Your Time ++: If I Were with Her Now, I Want You, Run, Step into the Breeze, Symphony Space, Shine a Light, Sway, 200 Bars +: You Know It's True, Smiles, Angel Sigh 9,5/10
7/10 Favorites: Step into the Breeze Shine a Light
You Know It’s True // I Want You // Shine a Light //
Excellent. About as good as "Ladies and Gentlemen, We Are Floating in Space."
New wave synth music, almost all tracks are instrumentals. Very well produced and clean, full sound. Gentle, dream-like, and interesting listen. I thought of King Gizz's Butterfly album when hearing it.
Spacey and atmospheric, lush soundscapes meet classic rock sensibilities.
Pretty, spacey, and so subtle it sometimes vanishes mid-listen. Run drifts a J.J. Cale (more famously covewred by Lynard Skynar!) lyric into the cosmos ; I knew I’d heard it before but couldn’t place it, like awkwardly spotting a coworker at Costco. Gorgeous in theory, but too mellow to hold focus for long.
I started listening to this on my way out but had to finish up the following day, feeling slightly hungover, and this is quite the tonic! It’s dreamy and spaced out. It’s right up my street so will have to return to this, especially as this feels like it would take time to properly absorb. My only slight criticism is that, being quite long, requires a patient mood so might have to pick my moments to return to this one.
7/10… space rock / shoegaze 👂
Dreamy
I came in already having heard this album. This is a pleasant listen. It's ambient and interesting, really makes you feel like you are floating. While the whole album is worthwhile, the track Shine A Light stands out. I would listen again for sure.
Space Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Shoegaze
Very nice album for a laid back Sunday morning Love the bass rumbling through
Pairing notes: beanbag, winter sweater, ability to zone out and do fuck all for an hour. Enjoyed it but took a couple of listens to appreciate
That was a cool experience, not my genre normally, but sure that would have been great to cop as a novel genre at the time. Kind of dragged after a few songs and I tuned out but
Paired immaculately with the smoke in my lungs and the fog in the air during a supremely spacey Thursday morning walk.
Definitely my favorite experimental album of The ones I've listened to so far. I'd write more but I have 8 hours from getting off to going back to work.
Very floaty and relaxing. I enjoy the way it meanders along
Brilliant and beautiful. Somehow missing from my library until now
Good vibes music
I'm having a hard time nailing this one down. On one hand the melodies tend to bore me a good bit, but when it gets spacey and crunchy, I fucking love it.. I'm gonna slide to a light 4 for now only because the crunchy side is winning my affection (8.15) ★★★★
I really like the atmospheric, shoegaze-adjacent sound on this one, and it was released on my 8th Birthday. 4.5 stars
3.5/5
Spirtualized was a band I never really listened to before this 1001 project, but think both of their albums in this list are really cool. I slightly prefer Ladies and Gentlemen to this one, but this is really nice, and it sounds more timeless than a lot of the stuff coming out of the UK at this time. I do think this sags a little bit in the middle, but it really bounces back -- the last 4 tracks are really nice. Highlights for me are "You Know It's True", "Shine a Light", "Angel Sigh", and "Sway". 4 stars.
Great album of spacey rock. Really takes off from Shine a Light to the end.
I wasn't familiar with the band or the album before. After reading the reviews and the Wikipedia article, I was expecting the worst. But this music is right up my alley. I enjoyed listening to it. I think the album is worth listening to again. 4/5
Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space is one of my favorite albums of all time, but I wasn't all that interested in checking out Spiritualized's other works. For me, that album captured such a specific, unique vibe that I had no faith in it being replicated with enough success anywhere else. Unsurprisingly, this album doesn't do that. What is surprising is that it's not that much worse. It is still incredibly hypnotic and atmospheric, just like We Are Floating in Space, but not quite to the same degree and with more downtime. This album doesn’t reach the same highs, but is still great.
Jason Pierce... we meet again. Back in February of this year, I listened to an album called Playing With Fire by a group called Spacemen 3. I didn't like it. Most of it was just whatever, but one song on it sucked and dragged it down to a 2/5. However, I knew that one of the guys behind that group, Jason Pierce, was also behind another project that happens to have 2 albums on this list, that being Spiritualized. I said at the end of the Spacemen 3 review, "Maybe I'll vibe with Jason Pierce's other project Spiritualized. We'll see when I get there." Well, I've finally gotten there. After listening to Spiritualized's debut album, Lazer Guided Melodies, I can now say that I do in fact vibe with Jason's Pierce's other project Spiritualized. This album's good! This album definitely takes more of the ambient spacey elements of the other group into focus while minimizing that noisiness. That's not to say that there's not noise here. This could reasonably be considered shoegaze after all, but it's also got some dream pop and space rock elements that I really like. This album does make me feel somewhat like I'm floating in space, which I like. The instrumentation is a lot more gentle than the Spacemen 3 album, which appeals to me more. The writing is kind of vague but also somewhat intriguing. The vocals match the hazy dreamscapes of the instrumentals quite well. The album's a bit long, but it's not too egregious, especially since the time is spent well due to the album's good pacing and solid music. It also helps that, while the tone is consistent, the album doesn't all blend together into a mush. Standout moments and songs do exist. So, yeah, Spiritualized is cool. Apparently this isn't even their best album. I guess I have something to look forward to with the other album of theirs on the list! Light 4/5.
Wow, how have I never listened to this album before? Has that early 90's indie sound with elements of dance, ambient, psych and some nice crunching glam chords thrown in for good measure. Everything great that British guitar music threw up over the preceeding 25 years is here and it's beautiful.
Day 6 First listen- Wow what a lush and a beautiful album! Enjoyed every minute of it! The mellow tracks and gorg melodies really transport you to another dimension! (4/5)
I really enjoyed this. It was just different enough and soothing enough to be nice.
I was exhausted when I listened to this and it made me start seeing through walls.
The birth of shoegaze? I’ve been waiting 35 years to listen to this. It did not disappoint.
A really good psychedelic rock album not as great as the third album (Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space) but well worth owning if you dig this sort of thing.
Good one, really trippy. Great to listen to while doing something intense
Beautiful record but probably not one I’ll think about or return to often. 7/10
Not a huge shoegaze guy but this one really struck a chord with me. Whimsical and sometimes a little bit like a ghost peeking in, but the music and ambience was tip top. Gonna listen to this again.
Pretty good actually. Only the second album i’ve listened to by this group… maybe i should listen to more
Really nice and relaxing listen, just started going in one ear and out the other towards the end.
super cool
Didn't expect these guys to pop up again. Their 1997 album was one of the first albums I generated, which I remember really liking. However I have neither returned to the album or the band since, despite how much I praised it. When it comes to this album I'm hoping for more of the same really. Expecting something bold yet concise. You Know It's True Soothing track with a pleasant supporting guitar and spacey synth. Uninteresting lyrics. There's a calming element to the vocals. Great instrumental section towards the end, has a psychedelic element to it which really knits the track together. Not the most exciting song ever, but a solid start. Decent. 3.5/5 If I Were with Her Now I like the light percussive elements in the intro section of the song. Interesting parallels with the harsh synth effects and the smoother guitar riff. Interesting mix. I like how the tension just deflates towards the middle of the track, creating a very satisfying buildup towards the next section. The repetitive instrumental with the oscillating percussion creates an hypnotic effect, making for a very stimulating ending. Good. 4/5 I Want You Very spacey. The noisier elements sound great. Lovely guitar distortion. I like the way the instrumental builds up towards the end of the chorus. Very dynamic, there's a lot of movement to this sound. Especially when contrasting the harsh effects to the thick but distant bassline. Good. 4/5 Run The instrumental has a lot of resonnance with the lyrics. Sounds very 'deserty'. Very electric. Love the subtle "whoosh" sounds in the background. Psychedelic and dense. Decent. 3.5/5 Smiles The electric organ just makes sense with this sort of sound. Fun percussion. Decent climax. Feels like a bit of an interlude. Fine. 3/5 Step Into The Breeze Has some pretty lovely positive undertones in the back of the instrumental. The strings in the background sound really warm, contrasting with the otherwise cold nature of the track. Really makes a lot of sense when you take the title of the track into account. Decent. 3.5/5 Symphony Space Cosmic sci-fi ambience coded. Reminds me a bit of something of off "Apollo" by Brian Eno. Lacks a discernable melodic element, but makes up for it with a lot of atmosphere. Very soothing. Good. 4/5 Take Your Time I like the synthline in the background. Don't love the vocals. They're a bit too quiet and almost sound incomprehensible here. Lovely guitar break. Honestly really repetitive and boring despite the slight variation between verses. The buildup towards the end is really good however, but it doesn't completely save the track. Average. 2.5/5 Shine A Light Spiritual and religious. Pairs well with the generally psychedelic sound of the track. Has some cinematic qualities in the instrumental. Really like how the two main melodic elements in the instrumental pair together and contrast with each other. Love the heavy distortion. Very large and climatic ending. Love the calm and soothing conclusion after a very chaotic and harsh climax. Great. 4.5/5 Angel Sigh Really appreciate a more normally structured track. Great guitar. Love the crashing drums as well. The vocals remain a bit iffy. Love the high pitched synth in the background. Decent. 3.5/5 Sway Really like the guitar effect. Hate the vocals. The high pitched effect in the background really works. The ambience of the track is kinda ruined by the effect laden vocals. Average. 2.5/5 200 Bars Churchy. The counting at the end of each bar does get the point across. Hypnotic atmosphere. Love how it rises and builds upon itself. Great bass once the vocals come in. Does have some ethereal qualities to it, especially with that high pitched background synth. Good execution of a cool concept. Great. 4.5/5 This album is a gorgeous sonic experience posessing great ambience and atmosphere. It's instrumentally rich, providing an ethereal and cinematic sound that takes you off to another world. Has interesting song structures with beautiful buildups, gorgeous slow sections and explosive conclusions. My only real complaint is that the vocals kinda drown themselves out. Either in effects or through the album's mixing. On quite a few songs on here the lyrics are completely incomprehensible due to this. I enjoyed it, but it's really slow and meandering at times, sporting a fair bit of repetitive patterns. This could come across as boring to some, so this is something you've got to be in the right headspace for. 4/5
This is the good stuff. I was slightly less whelmed by the album earlier in the Proj from Spiritualized that I knew much better than this one. This felt more shoegazey and a bit less far out maybe. Whatever; I enjoyed it hugely and would gladly listen to it on the regs.
Unlike anything I've heard before. Reminds me bit of Godspeed! You Black Emperor. Unlike them though, there was a point when the songs started to blend together. Notable Tracks: If I Were With Her Now, Shine A Light, Angel Sigh
A surprisingly soothing experience! This album is filled with unexpected twists that kept me engaged from start to finish. It’s exactly the kind of surprise I look for in this long list of albums.
kind of easy to tune out but really good soft progressive backgound music
This is why I’m loving this album a day thing. Didn’t know this album or band and now for sure a fan.
I didn’t care for the first Spiritualized record on this list, but I really enjoyed this
Can't think of what I had to say while listening to it weeks ago, but I did dig it very much and am happy to explore more from this group finally. Some of the coolest album art on this list, too.
Una de esas buenas sorpresas
I’ve grown to really love Spiritualized over the years, especially the epic Ladies and Gentlemen We're Floating In Space. I first listened to LAGWFIS when it was listed as the #1 album of the year of 1997 by NME AHEAD of OK Computer. Jason Pierce’s band has put out another two incredible albums since then in Sweer Heart Sweet Light and And Nothing Hurt. That said, I’d never listened to his first album as Spiritualized Lazer Guided Melodies before this. As I’d hoped, it’s a fantastic listen. Maybe not the masterpiece LAGWFIS is, but it’s every bit the druggy psych opus you hope for when visiting Spiritualized.
Better than I expected. Like a mashup of Spa music and 80s metal pop. It's just weird enough to be good but not weird enough to be too much to put the whole album on in the background
Favorite Songs: You Know It's True, Shine a Light, Sway Ladies and gentlemen we're floating in space is one of my favorite songs of all time, so I was very excited to get to listen to Spiritualized for my first album out of the 1001. My expectations were met, if not exceeded, and I'm amazed they were able to make an album like this in 1992. I believe if this album was made today it would still be ahead of its time.
the band name spiritualized sounds a bit too pretentious to me but this album was good. liked the cover and the calming tunes. not brain altering but relaxing spacey music i can listen too on the evening. (3.5/5.0)
That was actually better than I expected, as someone who didn't like the other Spiritualized album she heard! I don't remember any of it immediately after listening, but it was really pretty and went by way faster than I would have expected for an hour-long album.
Sounds like I thought it would. Hypnotic, psychedelic. Simultaneously soothes me and wakes me up. Makes me want to meditate and zone out. A lot going on but I don’t mind it, it’s quite cool actually.
The weirdest album I've heard so far, and weird doesn't mean bad. I love weird stuff. I made a mistake though, i listened to this album while preparing to exam. I want other experience with it. I feel like it has ability to make you to fall in trance. By simply listening to it's songs you may dislike it, misunderstand it, miss something. You must grasp it firmly and feel it's psychedelic affect. Sure, it has not only trip songs, some examples are "random good songs", but I think the purpose of this album is much more than random good songs. Must relisten to it 100%. Preemptively I'll give it 4/5. Songs saved so far: 4/12
Impossibly, Jason Pierce (Spacemen 3) manages to be both spaced out and thoroughly grounded. No part of me aimlessly floats listening to this record but, then again, there's a gorgeousness that's got me feeling: 'I wanna step into the breeze.' But vagueness, at least one that doesn't always adhere, has its breaking point, and on this album, that comes w/ 'Symphony Space,' an unnecessary instrumental offering. Lyrically, Pierce has a 'you' in mind throughout, one he doesn't exactly explore but merely addresses, e.g., 'And when you smile / You know you blind me / To all the horrors I see.' Quality production, tho, and elegances such as 'You Know It's True,' 'Shine a Light,' 'Angel Sigh,' and '200 Bars' furnish a triumphant sheen that's undeniably pleasurable.
Great album for relaxing.
I went into this album with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. It reminds me a lot of Luna, a band I listened to constantly years ago.
One of the most cohesive and mind-blowing album listening experiences to listen to.
This is such a fantastic late night, space-y ambient dream pop album. Perfect to listen to for a chill out evening or even when one needs to concentrate on work and a calm music is needed in the background. I loved it (though overall I preferred Ladies and Gentleman... to this).
Favorite Track: Take Your Time
Space Simon and Garfunkel. 4/5
Pretty good
listened to again a spacey artistic journey, a real trip
Pretty nice album, some of it falls in the background but on the songs that grab my attention it really mesmerizes me. The guitar work and production is really top notch
I was pleasantly surprised by this album, though, I shouldn’t have been, because I gave “Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space” a 5. I must have been in the right headspace for this. I was stressed, and this music soothed me. Is this how people feel about Radiohead??
I can get behind this. It hits just right when you're working on something. I don't think I'd like this live.
Badass. I loved the last Spiritualized album we had. Still listen to it every once in awhile. This is the debut so expecting it to be a bit more rigid but still hoping for that shoegazey, dream pop that Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized are known for. Album art is also pretty toight. Yup pretty spacy right off the bat. Interesting They Call Me The Breeze portion in there. Not necessarily a cover idk what I'd call it. Album breezed by while working. Don't think it's as lush as Floating In Space but still love the dreaminess of it all.
I liked this. Super Duper Chill. It’s got that spacey ethereal weird indie rock vibe. Sort of reminiscent of the older Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse or Built To Spill records. I’d be interested in checking out more shit from these guys. It did seem to drag a little bit towards the end. A hour long runtime for this sort of music is a bit much. Solid 4 stars, tho.
Didn't realize this was their first record! Really great!
It's good, sometimes it just fells into the background noises. I love it but it might just be I love the genre in general not that I like the album itself. The album feels more like drinking water to me. I like it, but sometimes it's just not flavor enough for me. Still, a 3.5/5 though.
I had never heard of Spiritualized before, and I had never heard this album. It felt very Velvet Undergroundy precursor to the Brian Jonestown situation. I loved it.
This is really really good. It's spacey, atmospheric, epic, rousing, anthemic. Found myself humming over the top different wee melodies because of how much room they leave on these songs, but its not an absence of anything. It's beautiful
This one is good. It falls squarely between Hawkwind and Ride with hints of Britpop. Good stuff.
I liked it
A nice surprise, never been into this stuff before but this album was easy to listen to
I didn't like this as much as Ladies and Gentlemen We're Floating in Space. But I did significantly prefer it to Spacemen 3. It is very much background music, but that's not a bad thing.
Much more to my taste or mood now than it was 25 years ago, when I first listened to it. Not as dense as I recall, but I'm probably remembering Ladies & Gentlemen. A lot more twee and sparse than that, flimsy almost, with obvious Galaxie 500 and Jesus and Mary Chain similarities. However, it is the moments where the droning singularity explodes into something bigger or more intense that I really enjoy - like Heroin by the Velvet Underground. This is frustratingly withheld for a minute in the middle of If I Were Her Now. Another clear nod to the Velvet Underground on Run.
8/10. Great album.
I liked this album. While I have seen criticisms about blindness and lack of purpose, some albums are notable just for the feelings evoked and the lack of effort required to just listen. Music should always make you feel, and sometimes what is needed is to just feel peaceful and go with the flow.
This album had a very dreamy feel to it, but it also caused it to get a bit repetitive. I still enjoyed it, a lot of the songs are pretty good.
On the path to greatness
Feels nothing really like anything else from this time - it’s really experimental with effects and stuff. Feels somewhat slowdive ish in some areas, but mostly for good. However some effects are a bit too intrusive at times. Favourite songs: step into the breeze, and the last 3 Overall around 7/10
Ambient, shoegaze-y, space rock with heavy synths. Both a fairly dry way of describing the band and a shopping list of why I like this - yep, I'll be coming back to this one!
Not quite as good as "Ladies and gentleman we are floating in space" but I like Spiritualized's presence on this list. Interesting and enjoyable.
Interesting stuff i don't know what's going on exactly but I gave it 2 listens and it's something to take drugs too and or for a long weird night road trip
4 stars
This is a cool, vibey album that doesn’t deserve the hate it gets. It’s Jason Pierce doing his spacey druggy thing. Nothing mind-blowing, just good chill space rock. Favorite tracks: I Want You, Shine a Light
The ideal combination of Britpop, shoegaze, and space rock, that sounds like no one else. This early record is a bit inchoate for me, as I prefer them more fully rounded into form, but all of the makings are already there.
If I wanted to live in a monastery I would want to listen to this. 4 stars or B-.
Great Album, pretty psychedelic. lots of good ambient sounds, very enjoyable
I've listened to "Ladies and Gentlemen..." in the past and it never fully clicked with me. I liked this a lot, though so maybe I was particularly in the mood for this today. I look forward to revisiting L&G.
always hypnotic with a certain gorgeous quality. and every once in a while the parts coalesce and wake you from that hypnotic state, (If I Were with Her Now"). Then just as quickly as they snap you to attention, they put you back under their hypnotic spell. The second spell is a little longer and I did find myself wandering, but by the time to they get to the last 2 or 3 songs there it is again that sense of "Wow", when these guys find their groove its amazing. 4 stars
Take Your Time with this one. Sway to the Angel Sigh. Then, Step into the Breeze and float away.
The 3rd and 4th Spiritualized albums ("Ladies and Gentlemen..." and "Let it Come Down") are two of my all time favorites, but I never got into his other albums much, and I'm not sure I ever listened to this first album by him. I really enjoyed it, though it is not nearly as good or at the same level he achieved with his 3rd and 4th albums. For my personal taste, I am going to bump it to 4 stars, though I'd probably give it 3.5, and I could see people giving it a straight 3, if it isn't so much their type of music.
Excellent album. While not a favorite, definitely worth a deep dive every once in awhile.
I found this album strangely captivating. I'm sure it's not everyone's cup of tea, and space rock or shoe gaze isn't always mine, but something about their softer version of it was cool. I really dug the first two songs You Know It's True and If I Were With Her Now, especially their openings. I also enjoyed I Want You and Run. Then I kind of got lost in the middle of the album - felt a bit repetitive, even ho-hum, for a bit there - but they snapped me back at Angel Sigh. A little heavy on the fuzz but the up-tempo parts were cool and the whole song had a Smashing Pumpkins feel (yes, the Pumpkins grew out of shoe gaze). And then Sway had a different sound altogether (high fret guitar up front, fuzz in the background). This album was an easy 3 and on multiple listens I really got into it, pushing it past 3.5.
I got worried when I looked into this band and saw it was most of the members of Spacemen 3 who I really disliked. Looks like the problem in Spacemen 3 wasn't Jason Pierce (the main guy here in Spiritualized). I'd still like to see the songs develop more, instead of often just one theme ebbing and flowing, and would like a little more energy behind the vocals, but otherwise I enjoyed this album. The first couple of tracks got me worried I was going to dislike the shoegaze lack of energy, but If I Were With Her Now started pretty cool. I was very surprised by I Want You - almost sounded like U2. Run picked things up even more. Then they get pretty ambient starting with Step Into the Breeze, but it was enjoyable. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised.
Simon Reynolds had categorized Spiritualized's Lazer Guided Melodies as 21st Century gospel and I am inclined to agree with him. Jason Pierce's space psych rock entity places itself amongst the spiritually inclined groups that ran up that hill; the difference being Spiritualized's penchant for genuine emotion seeping through and becoming the backbone of their sound, as experienced here. If more melodies can be as lazer guided as this, then we'd be better off as a species. Favorites: You Know It's True, I Want You, Run, Step Into the Breeze, Symphony Space, Take Your Time, Shine a Light, Sway, 200 Bars.
7/10 - there were some pretty interesting tracks. A lot of repetitive stuff and only some of it worked for me.
Cool spacey rock record. Having heard this after listening to "Ladies and gentlemen..." gives me a great view of where Spiritualized started and where it went.
cool album, spacey and atmospheric vibes. kinda reminded me of radiohead and even U2 at points. nice to have a unique genre (space rock) represented on this list! the individual songs here seemed less important than the album as a whole, but i found it enjoyable. also i didn't test any of the cool CD shenanigans that Wikipedia mentioned but am always a big fan of artists that do cool things with what would otherwise be limitations of physical media. favorites: you know it's true, if i were with her now, i want you, run, shine a light
Man I love the sound of Spiritualized. Shoegazy space rock all the way, and crazy that the debut is from 1992! Though not quite as coherent as Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space, and perhaps dragging out some songs a bit too much, Lazer Guided Melodies is a super strong fully-fledged out debut album.
I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. Based on the album art I was expecting some long electronic slog (no offense) but it wasn't that at all! I think next time I'd like to listen to this in one sitting to make sure I actually like it.
Spacey and gorgeous. Spiritualized albums exist in their own galaxy, orbiting a lonely planet inhabited by disembodied creatures longing to make physical what exists in the aural realm of these tracks.
Back in 1992, I remember running home with this CD, eager to play what I assumed would be some sort of continuation of the Spacemen 3 legacy. I was bitterly disappointed, to the point where I only played the album through a couple of times before putting it into a pile to never be played again. When I saw this come up today, I remembered those bad memories of being let down, so was a little salty about having to listen to this again. For the first few tracks it was as I remembered, like someone had turned up the dial to 11 on the parts of Spacemen 3 I didn't like, while suppressing the parts I did like. I've always been an "OD Catastrophe" enjoyer and a "Walking With Jesus" despiser. However, by the end, I was finding this far more enjoyable than I had expected. I would still have preferred something with more of a psych/ garage sound, and less floaty/ dreamy/ gospel sound. I still think Sonic Boom is necessary to counterpoint Jason's sound. But I did enjoy it, particularly the second half.
4/5. I love psychedelic gospel. I was already in love with Ladies and Gentleman and didn't realize there were more of equal quality. Airiness and cool chills is what comes from this music. The songs last a little longer here, especially near the second half of the album. It can take away from some investment but I still think it creates the correct aesthetic they are going for and I am all here for it. Don't think it's a classic, since I did lose focus a few times but with a few more listens it could be. Best Song: Run, If I Were With Her Now, Shine A Light
Ooh, I wasn't expecting this! I was kind of expecting it to be ... we'll, I'm not sure really...but not this. A very pleasant ambient sound that you can either focus on and appreciate, or have it as background music whilst you concentrate on other things. I listened to this during a rare office base admin day, and so this was perfect for me. Not 'brilliant' but I'll definitely keep it for future listening again. THIS. IS. WHY. I. LOVE. THIS. APP !!!
Pretty goos]d for a debut, but probably not the best Spiritualized album.
Starts off slow but I started to really dig it.
Good
Excellent but they didn’t really evolve much after that
Some of the negative reviews for this album, sheesh. Go jerk off to picture of Bob Dylan or something and let go a little. 5 stars to balance out the negative nancys
Can't describe it other than chilled indie. Really enjoyed it though
this is pretty great
Cool
I enjoy this band and had not heard this album. Definitely spacey, shoe gazey and beautiful. If you like Beach House, dad rock, and mbv its like a nice combo of them. As an album, I prefer some of their others particularly since the second half has most of the tracks over 5 minutes. I got a little zoned out by them but mostly because it's really trancey arrangements. Fav tracks: You Know it's True, Run, Smiles, Step into the Breeze, Shine a Light, Angel Sigh and Sway.
I great album for when you're in the mood for Brian Eno, but want a bit more indie rock mixed in too. This is shoegaze without the extreme melancholy, or rock to listen to while you're floating in space (appropriately enough, that would be the title of a later album). Sit back, close your eyes and let it wash over you. When you wake, you'll feel refreshed but remember only bits and pieces of what you just heard. If none of that appeals to you, then this album isn't for you.
One of my favorite surprises of this experience. Maybe it just caught me on a good day, but I listened to it twice and really enjoyed it.
Very sleepy, ambient background music. I feel like this music works on a higher level if you analyze each nuance and draw out the meaning behind, like a poem. For me, I listen to this kind of music in the background at work as something I don't have to pay much attention to. Just pleasant background. I hear the influence of this music in bands I like such as If These Trees Could Talk and God is an Astronaut. A genre I like but usually not something I reach for. I want something that is more approachable and immediately powerful for me.
Really good. Not what I thought it would be. Love the bari sax , if that's what it is in a couple songs. The last song is no.
Moody and chill as fuck
genuinely cant decide what to give this album Hearing the bass come in during Take Your Time for the first time was an insane feeling, and having Shine a Light right after that was cathartic and really powerful but the rest of the album just makes me zone out so much I cant remember a second of it despite listening to the whole thing like 3-4 times Idk, 4 just cus I liked those two mentioned songs that much
Yuh, spacy and groovy, sometimes more so than it needed to be.
