I mean it was alright. Probably helped that it wasn't really a live album.

Every track after 20 seconds: hell yeah! get down! Every track after 1 minute: it's kinda boring now, actually.

Liked the first 2/3 of the album in terms of good vocals and plenty of guitar-y guitar, although nothing besides Boys are Back in Town was particularly memorable.

didn't feel anything crazy about this but was nice to listen to

idk pretty solid live album. i haven't listened to thin lizzy outside of the hits, so it was neat to hear some songs i didn't know "live" for the first time. would maybe put this one on again. i quite liked "still in love with you"

I like thin lizzy alright but i am sick and tired of live albums

Decent, not super memorable. 2.5-3

Not really sure what’s dangerous here, other than maybe falling asleep while driving when this is on.

A rousing live performance by a hard rock 70s band, featuring Phil Lynott's unique husky vocal delivery of story lyrics bolstered by the band's characteristic twin guitar backing. Great guitar solos, good music - includes their two big hits Jailbreak and The Boys Are Back in Town, and the rest of the songs are just as satisfying.

3.5⭐️/5 02.19.2026

A lot of the tracks have the same sound, Boys are Back in Town x infinity

More enjoyable that I expected.

Not sure why this was chosen vs the studio album. Good songs though!

Great Songs: Good Songs: Jailbreak, Emerald, Rosalie / Cowgirl's Song, Massacre, Still In Love With You, Johnny the Fox Meets Jimmy the Weed, Cowboy Song, The Boys Are Back In Town, Don't Believe A Word, Warriors, Are You Ready, Baby Drives me Crazy, The Rocker Mid Songs: Southbound, Dancing In The Moonlight (It's Caught Me In Its Spotlight), Suicide, Sha-La-La Bad Songs:

3.1 1x driving back from Asheville

I never really got in to Thin Lizzy. They were probably a bit old school for me. This kind of sums that up: it's a bit rambling and rarely sounds like an actual live album. Which is a shame. Not terrible, but not great either. Just about creeps up to 3, but it's really 2.51

Still don't understand the rubric for live albums ending up on this list but it's fun enough. See you at Dino's Bar and Grill.

I was pleasantly surprised by this album. Great frontman with thundering bass.

Great album I really enjoyed listening to this artist, I did add most of these songs to my playlist and I will be looking into this artist more!

That was long.

Great fun and they sound amazing live. Really enjoyable with Jailbreak and The Boys are Back in Town.

Pretty good not a bad listen

Not always in the mood for shredding to the max but this is pretty fun. Good for Friday night field party with jean jacket natural light &tx On the heels of Disintegration it was a relief. Sounds like some controversy about how live it actually is, but if it sounded anything like this I would have rocked out with my hawk out. Just between us girls my wife said it was scaring our dog and made me turn it off but she left so we're jamming.. 3.9

Classic rock album, but didn’t really catch my interest or my full attention, feels like something you have heard before. There were a few tracks that I liked but nothing crazy.

Good fun

Well at least the live albums are mostly best of's, so I got to hear most of the thin lizzy stuff I like, 1 or 2 new songs that were nice

Neat! :)

fun and fine i don't knowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww i am suffering from food-borne illness

Mellow rock. Its alright. 3/5

very good very nice

Another live album that absolutely rocks out. Maybe I'm uninformed but there doesn't seem to be anything particularly special about this concert. Maybe it just feels weird to have so many live albums on this list, as enjoyable as they may be. Going high 3 here.

Ihan menevää rokkia, mut aina hankala kuunnella näitä livelevyjä. Meni mukavasti tosin sunnuntaiaamu tän parissa

Joo tämmöset liverieskat on aina vähän hankalia lähestyä.

Ihan ok. Välillä vähän pörinää soundit, mutta biisit kantaa.

It seems I really didn't like this as much as nost people, but as good as just their studio stuff to me which is pretty solid stuff but nothing extremely special.

On the one hand, it’s generic 70s power rock, but on the other hand, it does that well.

This one was just alright. Like many live albums it's nothing mind-blowing, but the performances are still great and Thin Lizzy just in general were a really good band with many great songs, so I don't mind. Overall it's simply a decent album and I enjoyed my time listening it. 3/5

The only Thin Lizzy album you need to hear is Jailbreak. Jailbreak might be the only album you need to hear, period. This is good. Most of their records are, but c'mon.

enjoyable. good songs!

Not a huge listener of live albums, but this one was pretty good! Never heard much of Thin Lizzy before this, and it was a great introduction! Some songs were a bit long, but I still got a few likes out of this one!

Good concert album. I'm usually very demanding of live albums, I need them to be really good and entertaining for me to listen to them. I need a lot of interaction with the crowd, I want to feel like I'm there. Just listening to music from the album won't cut it (exception to S&M from Metallica, as it's just a whole new world of their music). And in terms of "Live And Dangerous" I feel like I just got very good renditions of TL songs. And it's not like they are a band I'm particularly into. So all in all - a good album, easy to listen and quite fun. But not something I'll be going back to at any point. 6/10

For a live album, it was good. I do need to revisit it again.

Wait. Thin Lizzy has other songs other than Boys Are Back In Town? And they're actually pretty good songs?

Hmm! A nice big thick slice of thin lizzy. A con job to call this live; and tbh, their greatest hits would be better - some inclusions here were bettered with the release of Black Rose. Great fun

Very clean for a live album. Not much crowd noise. Spunds like the best of a set of live recordings. Overall the album is ok but I have heard better live albums.

Best Song: The Boys Are Back In Town. This really does make the boys being back in town feel like a joyous occasion. Worst Song: Still In Love With You. A tediously long song, full of guitar wankery that - although good - wasn't interesting enough to speak to me in any conceivable way. Overall: Technically proficient, but it has a kind of soulless quality that prevents me from really getting into it. Add that to the overly long run time, and the fact that it's oddly a hodgepodge of different live performances so you don't even get continuity of a single experience, it feels like an odd inclusion to this list.

Very stereotypical. It's good but I really wasn't in the mood for this. Not any better than last time.

It's nice, the songs are catchy, but they all sound very similar to each other, so none of them really stands out.

It's ok, not bad.

Perfectly fine hard rock... I guess? Clearly a lot of technical skill, but this kind of music just doesn't appeal to me despite being to appreciate it. If that makes sense?

Dude i can't even listen to most of the songs

Great band.

Decent hard rock

I'm a bit split on this: It's definitely good music for what it is, but what it is is a genre I find too middle-of-the-road to be genuinely interesting. I can hear how influential this band is just by how rock-bar-music everything sounds. However, I wouldn't mind seeing it live. I really don't like the live album sound and vibe in this one, it makes for a punishing prolonged listening: And it's a double album to boot. If it was a single album of the best songs and studio recorded, I could see this being a 4-5. But as it stands as a product, I gotta deduce a star for just how unpleasant a super long live album is.

For a live album this seemed pretty darn good. Would likely have rated higher if Spotify let me listen to more than 4 songs.

Sometimes nice but also boring

Thick lizard

Fun live show with solid hits and bangers

Fairly enjoyable. I liked it more than I would have thought.

My Dad hates “The Boys Are Back In Town” so much that it’s become a family joke. Once again a decent album but I was expecting more punch.

Good straightforward rock

10/01/2026 1. jailbreak - liking the bass :) vocals are really nice as well! guitar solo is reallllly nice. "hey female"????? 70s rock band being a bit misogynistic is not new, but female is odd?? *2. emerald - liking the sound of this one more immediately... the guitar(s?) are reaaaallly nice! bass and vocals still great as well :) reeealllly nice ending!! *3. southbound - loving the chorus of this. a bit mellower than the previous track... lyrics are very bittersweet... love it <3 4. rosalie (cowgirl's song) - back to rockier. his voice is a lot smoother than i was expecting for a hard rock album, which is a very happy surprise for me! instrumentals are still great - love the guitar riff in the chorus! 5. dancing in the moonlight (it's caught me in it's spotlight) - guitar and bass is a bit groovier at the start... not as big on this one as i was the other ones, but not even thirty secs in yet.... saxaphone!!!! bass is great! saxaphone solo!!!!!! love when the guitar kicks in... ending reallllly great :) 6. massacre - loving the way the songs are fading into each other... drums are fantastic on this one. bass and guitar fantastic as well!! guitar solo is reallly great!!! lyrics are sososo good! *7. still in love with you - immediately sounds softer.... loving the vibe of this one.... reallly sweet instruments and vocals.... very groovy bass. 8. johnny the fox meets jimmy the weed - halfway through! loving it but not sure how i'm going to get through another half lol. oooh funkier.... very reminiscent of tommy the cat....... really loving the vibe of this one. lots of guitar solos in this album! they're really nice, but not sure if i'll feel the same eight more tracks in..... 9. cowboy song - immediately more folksier.... softer guitars are reallly lovely.... love the word coyote.... (don't know why, just nice to say/hear). please stop saying female!!! liking it still now it's gotten louder, but did like the softer sound a bit more. drums in the chorus are nice :) 10. the boys are back in town - have to admit, not massively looking forward to this one.... better when hearing the verses as well as the chorus, but it's too overplayed to feel energetic, especially when i've still got about fourty-odd minutes left halfway through an album!!!!!!! live version is better though :) 11. don't believe a word - had a break :) immediately liking the energy! really liked it, but getting a bit tired of this now and not as good as the other songs. 12. warriors - bassline is really nice. guitar solo really great as well. 13. are you ready? - ready for this album to end. immediately sounds very stadium rock... not crazy about it, but still really nice. would probably like it more if i wasn't waiting for this album to end, because the instruments are still reaaalllly great! 14. suicide - loving the guitar riff on this one! bassline is really great as well... just a bit samey after fourteen songs!!!!!!!! 15. sha-la-la - drum solo is nice and also a great change up!!!!!!!!! going a bit insane right now cannot wait for this to be over! another drum solo!!!!!!! 16. baby drives me crazy - how is this seven minutes long..... liking the groove at the start though. harmonica is nice, along with the other instruments still. reminds me of another song and i can't think what!! 17. the rocker - bass realllly nice. liked this one a lot more than the last few tracks, but still very relieved it's over nowww :) was expecting more of a stadium rock sound (from the little i know about thin lizzy, i already knew they were a 70s/80s hard rock band), but eneded up really loving this one..... but it did not need to be that long. a lot of the songs also sounded fairly similar to each, but i love how they sound so i don't really mind though lol. particularly loved the more mellower songs and it did get a bit too stadium rock towards the end, but maybe i had just become too cynical after an hour and a half of this!!!!!!!

I’m writing this review and I’m not even done the record because it is a live album. And I don’t think any ordinary live record should be on here. And this is an ordinary live record. It sounds ok. The remastered recording is pretty clear. The music is played accurately and the riffs and solos, which Thin Lizzy is known for, hit, just like the records. My issue with live records is, it’s 9 times out of 10 a greatest hits record but live. 1001 records I need to hear before I die should not be a live record. Give me the actual album or albums. I want the start to finish. The vision of the record. Not a cut and paste greatest hits live records. It doesn’t do it for me. Sure there are exceptions to this. Live records that have made history and are a must SEE. Hearing live records doesn’t even give you the full experience. Imagine listening to a live Iron Maiden record and not seeing the visuals. Or Nine Inch Nails, or Tool, or Pink Floyd… sure they’re going to sound awesome. But a hug portion of the experience is visual. So live recordings, although are great to listen to, don’t belong on a “prestigious” list such as this. I can copy and paste this to every live review.

not on apple music? fun tho

Best Track - "Jailbreak"

Thought that was a well-produced, clean and fun Live album

Only knew one of these tracks I think, enjoyed the album though

Listened on: Spotify Listening experience: Multiple attempts Finally got through the 17 songs - a long one! I didn’t hate it but it got a bit boring. He has a great voice and the guitars are great.

As far as the genre, it's better than ACDC, Kiss etc. I'm still not buying it though.

Fun live album, couple good songs. Overall average

Good live album, rather long

Hard Rock, definitivamente tampoco es de mi géneros pero entiendo la fama. Ne gustaron un par de canciones.

I saved a few songs to relisten in Ireland, but it’s not very memorable

I enjoyed the album, classic rock with live band energy, elevated by Phil Lynott’s great voice.

Honestly, pretty good dad rock, liked "Massacre" a lot

It's alright. Maybe a bit too repetitive.

Enjoyable classic rock but fairly middling overall

spoko spoko najbardziej wyłapałam podczas słuchania cover Sade haha

Not bad but not great either. I’d pick a lot of other rock albums to listen to over this

It’s not bad at all but a top 1001 album? I think some Thin Lizzy album would belong but a Live one feels like a weird choice. I would get how Deep Purple’s Made in Japan or The Who’s Live at Leeds could make it or even Kiss Alive. The latter might not be from a band with as much cred but as an album it did more impact on their career. Weak 3

My rating 3.0

I hate live albums. I also hate fake live albums. Songs are decent.

I have always loved Thin Lizzy dueling guitar solos, and this record doesn't disappoint in that respect. 🎸🎸 The guitar jams get 10/10. This band was at its best when Brian Robertson was in it. Thin Lizzy is rad. Live recordings, however, are not always rad. Drums sound thin and far away on many tracks. The drum solo on Sha-La-La sounds like he is inside a tube. Phil's mic on Are You Ready sounds like garbage. And the overall recording quality varies from track to track. I'm not sure anyone enjoys listening to crowds that are not clapping in time. The dubbed-in crowd cheers are unnecessarily loud.

Quand même plus cool que ce à quoi je m’attendais, ce qui n’était vraiment pas très haut

yeah they’re alright

It’s alright

Not rly my cup of tea, didnt rly like the 70s,80s but i do enjoy the enrrgy they give on their performance live. Definitely better than musicians nowadays

Buenos solos de guitarra, buenos tracks.

banging

This was a pretty decent live album. The band sounded good, had plenty of energy, and ran through most of their standards, which is really all you can ask for from a live record. The performances were solid and captured the band well in a live setting. Nothing felt sloppy, and the crowd energy came through nicely. My only real disappointment was that they didn’t play Whiskey in the Jar.

Don't get me wrong, Thin Lizzy rips. But, to make a "live" recording compiled from various live performances and then overdub it in production making essentially a greatest hits album, shouldn't get a spot on this list.

A brilliant show of musicianship. I think many of their songs leave much to be desired, however the transition from Cowboy Song to The Boys Are Back In Town is absolutely spot on.

Excellent love sound.

Several fun tracks but only good in small doses.

7 / 10

Mix feeligs on this one, Id' like to like it more than I actually do. I like the honnesty, the inginuity and let's say the faith in rock. But I also feel it lacks something. I couldn't identify a title that would stick for instance. I'll probably give it another listening.

A great live album. I was aware of their songs, but not necessarily how good they were live.

Not the best recording but a great band

L'album in se è bello, però perché live?

69/100. A fun live album listen, don't know much about the band, but it was solid. Consistent and had good tempo.

A live recording of lots of Daddy rocking tunes, at best consumed in an irish pub. Fav: Massacre

Some good songs. Quality not very good

It's pretty fun and some decent tunes, quite heavy without being obnoxious but there's only so much distorted guitar noodling I can take... Maybe worth revisiting?

Never listened before- Could be ok for some times

Hard work getting into a live album of a band you’re not super into. Rocking and all but here we are

Great sounding classic rock. Has an excellent feel to it. Dude's got a great voice. Well-played and tight. Some songs have a slight melancholy that give depth. A live album that isn't obnoxious with the audience sounds like many other live albums. I dig it.

Theres some good songs on here, but it felt neverending

The apple music listing for this album has nearly 10 hours of music. Your Lizzy might be thin, but that's just still too much Lizzy for me thanks. Another one where 'you shoulda been there'. Live music should just be live, and not recorded (with a very few exceptions)

Its good, would I listen again? Yes. Do I need to listen again? No

Their name always made me wonder if there was a Fat Lizzy? They are a solid 70s rock n roll band, loud and proud. Not my top, but I'll give em a fair listen. 3.33 rounded down to 3.

11/17/25. High energy live album. Some standout songs and a hard hitting rock sound. Also had no idea that the singer was a black man, always love seeing people who share my skin in hard rock.

Could only listen to a few songs. Most of this album, Spotify would not allow them to be played. I liked what I heard.

Full Disclosure: I only listened to the four songs from this album that are currently available from Spotify. I think I heard enough to know that a whole double album would have been excessive and possibly tedious. I'm also pretty sure that this is a must-listen for only the most ardent Thin Lizzy fans and the rest of us can just listen to the "Jailbreak" album and be more than satisfied. That being said, I do wish that I could have seen Thin Lizzy perform live. I'll bet it was a killer show.

6/10 - its good but drags towards the end, usually happens with a live album as a concert is as long as it wants to be

Huey Lewis? Alright, cool.

Nice guitarmonies and some sweet tunes, although an hour's worth of pump-up jams got a little tiring

Only a few songs were available on spotify. Liked what I heard from it though. Rating 3 stars as average, since I couldn't listen to the whole thing.

Boys are back in town schon noch ein Banger...

The hits barely sounds live

a bit like Kiss, but better played

Grew up hearing this band, and generally liking their more notable hits. Overall, they just don't have the rock sound I really enjoy. And a compilation live album with studio overdubbing is far from special enough to be on this list. Flatline 3.0

Not my cup of tea overall but not bad

Pretty good as far as live albums go

Pleasantly surprised by this. I don't usually like live albums of Thin Lizzy but this rocks and I really enjoyed it

I always think about this band when I hear “black Irish”. “Cowboy Song” into “The Boys Are Back in Town” is excellence, wonder if that’s how it was done live.

I bet this was a fun concert but it just feels like run of the mill rock music.

Some good songs but some dross on there too

среднячок солидный

Pas le style de musique que je préfère, mais ça s’est néanmoins écouté facilement!

I'm rarely in the mood for a live double album even by my faves, so this was a tough sell. They sound great, but nothing really stood out to me.

не люблю такое

Cracking sound and full of tunes, but points off for what is in effect a compilation, not an album, and notably dubbed, so not really live.

Decent. I might like it more if I'd discovered it as a youngster.

Good vibe. Sound quality great.

It was alright not really my music but it was a good listen

This was very long, but it was quite good. I only really knew Jailbreak and The Boys are Back but they have a lot of good music. And am I mistaken or did he say Huey Lewis was in the harmonica?

Meget klassisk rock for tiden.

Ok si on veux écouter un petit live rock année 70 début 80

3 out of 5 This is your standard Classic Rock but they sounded really great on this live album. Surprised me! And there were some awesome songs that you never hear on the radio. TIL that this band is Irish!

When is a live album not a live album. How much "live" does there need to be to class it as live? Thin lizzy are a great, band and these are great tunes but this doesnt even sound like they tried to be live. Its so crisp you can almost hear the producer tapping his pen in time to the oversubscribed he is doing. A live album should be raw. You should hear the mistakes, the flat notes, the hum, the guitars dropping out of phase. Bleed through of instruments. Instead, we have a studio best of with crowd noises places over top. Im sure they are based around live versions (I've read they used the live drum tracks as a base). If that is the case, we just have a glorified collection of their hits. Not bad, but then Wray as well out it up again a Beatles best of. Now, are thw recordings better than the original studio recordings, sure. And its a great set of tunes and a present listen. But its influential for all the wrong reasons. This album sold.so well that any future band would be crazy to put out a live album without also overrunning it to death. A good listen, yes. The greatest love album of all time though, deffinitly not. The death of the live album maybe.

It was very okay. Some great rock, and I wish I could play guitar like that, but it felt to drag on and on, very samey.

Good and fun, just not my style. 3.5

Half the album wasn’t available on Spotify

Pretty good for what it is! But I'm not a huge Thin Lizzy fan generally; it's basically fine.

"Live" ?.......I'm not sure it all was.......still average

How to place thin Lizzy. Rock, fast, great voice tunes that bounce pinkish heavy ish good.

Qué manía con los directos, pero estuvo bien. No es cómo me imaginaba a Thin Lizzy

The hits are great aren't they, the rest is a bit naff ... "Want a bit of Irish in you ..." Was a real turn off. 😅

It was ok also key kinda like weird for me wasn't my type.

This was more fun than I normally have with this genre of dirt

I think I expected more from this. It’s a good addition, but not the best.

Sounds like a great show to have been at!

I guess it’s a good album but it isn’t really live it’s overdubbed so much that it’s almost just re-recorded songs which makes it a greatest hits album. So it loses points for that.

Some good moments but I feel like I will need to revisit it.

too long! 2.5ish

Thin Lizzy, vastly underrated, and bringing some guitar riff rock back to the T1001 after a LONG glaring absence. I'm surprised it's not 'Jailbreak' alone but instead a live album with a longer list of their finest. "Jailbreak", "Southbound", "Dancing In The Moonlight" (listen to that sax!), "Cowboy Song", & "The Boys Are Back In Town" (nearly all from 'Jailbreak') make for a solid concert performance. Add in glue tracks like "Rocker", "Are You Ready" and the fan favorite "Still In Love With You" (with some pretty guitar work) and you have a great showcase for a band that never secured its rightful place in the annals of Rock & Roll. The last 3-4 tracks of the album are a bit repetitive but overall it's a good, not great, rock album. I'm curious what made this a T1001 album in the mind of the creator. 3+ stars

Étonnée en bien ma foi

Pre listening notes: Oh God, no. This is going to be like finishing my broccoli as a kid. Pre listening notes: Oh God, no. This is going to be like finishing my broccoli as a kid. Post listen notes: Shame on me. I had these guys confused with an 80s hair metal band. Thin Lizzie, and this album, rock. They're super tight and well rehearsed on this live album and each instrument comes through well in the mix. Lots of great guitar sounds, riffs, and solos.

Great!! Some epic guitar solos

Really fun live album! Captures a rock band at their peak: cool solos, fun vocals, crowd moments, the whole shebang.

This is a great way for someone who isn't very familiar with Thin Lizzy (me) to understand the general vibe. A little on the long side if you're not already a fan, but we get to hear a kind of 'Best Of' without feeling too cheesy. Not a lot of audience intervention so when it happens you can really feel the popularity of the track. I can appreciate the musical aspect, there's solos and constant displays of talent. A little overwhelming, but I understand why hearing this is important. They were ahead of their time. By modern standards they've been outdone, so I'm not sure I'll look for them again. 3/5

I’d also like a little more Irish in me.

Fun rock ballads, fair to call it stadium rock? Southside is amazing 9/10, everything else is a little forgetable

Really like the transition to the boys are back in town, didnt fully pay attention to each song, going to listen to the full album again.

This is the best I've heard Thin Lizzy. The live album is better than their recorded

this was quite good!! i love that this was live and wish i could see this live bc thin lizzy seems like a great performer. idk much about guitar riffs but some of the guitar stuff was crazy and so captivating. wish i could see more variety though. sonically it was a lot of the same stuff. highlights of the album were when he stepped out of that sound, namely with Dancing in the Moonlight and Still in Love with You. but still a fun record to listen to and i would like to listen to more of his stuff

Good band but I don't really like live albums. I'd rather discover them through studio albums.

Thin Lizzy's greatest hits with an extended jam -- a fine listen but not breaking any new grounds

I mean, this is pretty good—some fun energetic hard rock, which is pretty enjoyable—but at the same time, this particular album doesn't stand out whatsoever. They're not the best to ever do it, and there's a lot of albums that do the same. 7/10

A live album, longer than usual, but actually quite enjoyable.

The great guitar is what carried this album for me. It was energetic and lively, but not anything super special. I enjoyed it but won't be revisiting it.

Is There Any Girls That Would Like A Little More Irish In 'Em? 1001 Albums Generator 115 (09/10/2025) Thin Lizzy, man. One of the classic hard rock groups with the most aura. With hits like The Boys Are Back In Town and Jailbreak, I was somewhat aware of them, but haven't listened to them much because this brand of relatively basic hard rock doesn't appeal to me so much. Live And Dangerous is a very representative look at this band. Opening with the aforementioned Jailbreak before going into one of my favorites, Emerald, the album opens strong. I can't get over how good the guitar solo in Emerald is. Also I was listening to this album while lifting and it was going so hard. Massacre is also great and is probably the closest Live And Dangerous gets to metal. Of course, The Boys Are Back In Town is a classic, and the live rendition is great and full of energy. In general, Thin Lizzy's surprisingly black vocalist, Philip Lynott, is the crux of the sound here. He is such an engaging performer and a real talent. I love how he gets the crowd involved. With that said, 80 minutes is a lot of Thin Lizzy, and I think that the sound just gets old after a while. It's not bad by any means, but I did find it to be a bit boring as a full package to be honest. 3.5/5 rounded down to a 3. Favs: Jailbreak Emerald The Boys Are Back In Town Least Fav: Suicide

Not bad at all non me lo aspettavo

This album grew on my the longer it went on. It started off as “why am I listening to a live album” but the dual guitar solos were awesome, the drummer was very good, and the charisma of the front man is unmatched.

Was surprised at how good it sounded for a live album - then I realized it wasn't really "live." 3/5

This was pretty fun but a bit bloated. When they get cooking it is fantastic but not every song has the needed quality and while the dual lead guitars and the harmonizing is nice it doesn’t make me want to come back to it.

Not bad

Buena energia y fuerza de buena mañana.

Would be better if the entire album was here. Still got bangers on it though

Not a bad live album, but live stuff usually isn't my cup of tea, and I've always been indifferent about Thin Lizzy. I will say, the singers voice stuck me as great for a live recording, pre auto tune times.

Pretty fantastic selection heading into a holiday weekend. This album answers the question "Is there such a thing as too much Thin Lizzy?"

Refreshingly good. 3/5

live music is great live, but has no place on an album. This one's okay though.

I really like live albums because there is the opportunity for the artist to change it from the studio album and hearing the audience is fun. I realized that this enjoyment is very much lessened when you only know a few songs. This was fine but I don’t need to hear it again.

Huey Lewis with the random harmonica cameo! Not a huge fan of love albums, but Thin Lizzy kinda rips.

So there's a Grateful Dead studio album, but a live Thin Lizzy album? This list makes zero sense sometimes.

Bra live, sådär lagom bra, lagom tuff rock

17 songs and only 2 hits. At 76 minutes, this had the potential of being a real drag. There were a couple of pretty bad songs but these guys could rock even when they weren't playing the hits. If I were to have seen this show live I would have been entertained.

that’s rock and roll babey! never heard of thin lizzy, but sounds just like what my parents used to listen to. surprised i’ve never heard their music.

Some decent classic rock songs. I found the production quality muted or lacking.

The production quality is a little inconsistent, but I appreciate the extra energy from the live performances. Thin Lizzy overall feels a bit ponderous, but there are some good listens here.

Didn't feel like being a live show recording added to the experience, decent amount of good songs.

Un buen disco de hard rock. No lo conocía, me gustó.

This was a pretty good 70's rock album. I did think it was perhaps a bit long, but I appreciated listening to another live album again (I've only generated one other one). I wouldn't describe this as anything brilliant, but the music was of good quality. Great musicianship in this one. Had it not drug on like it did it would have potentially received a high rating, but it did start to become sort of a mundane listen by the second half.

I don't know many of these songs and I'm not usually a fan of live albums. The guitar solos are decent. Sounds like they put on a fun show. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite tracks: Massacre, Cowboy Song, Warrior

Not really a fan of live albums. I feel like you lose the production quality and don't always have the context from being there.

I liked this! I'm not too bothered by the overdubs

Solid live album, but didn‘t really stick with me

Pretty okay rock

A very good "live" album, with some very talented heroin addic- I mean musicians. The guitar solos were phenomenal. However, does this belong here, on a list of 1001 Greatest Albums, ever? A live album? With maybe 3 hits on it. And not even a real life album, a /compilation/ live album, not even a singular performance. Yeah sick. Next.

Love the strut. You can feel the confidence the band have together let by Phil. Sadly the songs themselves are a let down

Did I need to hear this before I died, not really

Woah, an unexpected live album. This has me thinking: what are my to live albums? Tame Impala is the only one that comes to mind right now. I'd have to do more research. Oh, Talking Heads of course. In Rainbows at the Basement, definitely. I really want to figure this out now. Typically a live album is not the best way to be introduced to a new band. And this is my first time listening to a Thin Lizzy album. After one listen I'm assuming this was a good representation of the band's sound. The allegations of studio overdubs is very interesting because this record sounds very clean. The crowd is not heard that often during the songs even though they sounded like an active crowd. So that makes me wonder how much of this is truly a live album. Now it's most likely that the crowd mics were turned all the way down except in certain circumstances. Either way, it doesn't change my thoughts or rating but it is something fun to ponder as I listen to the record again.

Lynotts vocals carry most of the tracks on the record. In “Jailbreak” - Lynott yells “Breakout!” with the accompanying siren in an epic moment. The echo effects in “Massacre” are a great compliment to his energy, and “Dancing in the Moonlight” is a standout track. However, the dual guitars get stale outside of the more composed tracks.

Thin Lizzy strikes again. Some excellent prog elements sets them apart from being just that “bar band” sound

I don't know many of these songs and I'm not usually a fan of live albums. The guitar solos are decent. Sounds like they put on a fun show. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite tracks: Massacre, Cowboy Song, Warrior

I wonder a bit if I would have enjoyed a non live album more. Not bad but didn't love it really either.

7/10 pretty good rock but not exactly my style

Could only play a couple songs, the rest were blanked out, 3 stars for what I heard, im sure the other songs were great

Just a solid 6.5/10

For song 2 only

Good live album. Probably better if you know the songs. Jailbreak is a great song and a great opener. I loved the unexpected transition to The Boys Are Back in Town, and it was obvious the crowd did too.

background album

There are certain voices that are just associated with one song, for me. I can't listen to this album without thinking 'this is the Boys Are Back In Town guy', and it distracts me from the songs playing, haha. But I realized I do recognize Cowboy Song as well. I probably would have loved this album when I was a bit younger, but maybe I have moved past my 'cock rock' days? (Album cover included) There's nothing explicitly wrong with this album, it's just not my style, ESPECIALLY for 80 minutes. If Thin Lizzy needed to be on this list, their 35 minute Jailbreak album would have sufficed. But people who like this style of rock LOVE this live album, so who am I to judge? 3 stars.

Suffers from some of the common complaints of live albums but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

If you like capital R ROCK, how could you not like Thin Lizzy? An album for sure!

Male homosapiens.

6/10 Nice bluesy rock, but on a live album. To be fair the sound was pretty good for a live album so I didn't take any points off for it. They should consider themselves lucky, those that survive leastwise. 8-1-2025

It was okay. This was a decent Rock and Roll album.

Pretty cool rock and roll (classified in its day as heavy metal, haha), but I don't think I'd go back and listen.

Good old fashioned guitar rock and roll. Was never a massive fan at the time, but there's definitely a bit of nostalgia about them. Enjoyable.

Good upbeat album, couple of bangers that will come back for a relisten

Quite enjoyed this

This was fine but I really don’t know why it’s on the list. A short track-list live album feels sort of random. Knew the songs and the guitar was pretty good. Idk 🤷‍♀️

It was fine but I’d rather have heard a studio album of Thin Lizzy instead.

#658. I probably would have only gone to see Thin Lizzy if the tickets were pretty cheap. That being said, they played all three of their songs, so I wouldn't've been disappointed I guess. 3/5: fine

Its was good

i don't care for live albums enough to give them a 5 star rating (not yet anyway)

Underrated, these guys rock

It was fine

Good hard rock!

Liked some ingredients, didn’t like the cake.

Rocker harder and harder as the show went on. Really rocking out by the end. Not likely to relisten, sadly.

I usually prefer live albums but this one just doesn't have the clean vocals or energy as the studio tracks in my opinion. Best song: Suicide. The songs do sound very similar.

Live Irish blues rock...That was fun!

now more typical old school rock music’s good, but nothing i gravitated to from the first listen

Perfectly good rock music. Have heard better though.

This is fine, but a bit on the boring side.

I had to listen to this as one long video from YouTube. I only knew "The Boys Are Back in Town" and I kept thinking every song that started was it, only to realize it wasn't. So to me it sounded like they have a very succinct, if not repetitive, sound. I'd give Thin Lizzy another chance but maybe a greatest hits album or something.

Ok so to preface this: I have no real knowledge about Thin Lizzy, I know some stuff about the band and a handful of their hits but not a ton. This was a fun album, the instrumentation was ridiculously fun to listen to but at the same time it kinda just blended in, there’s nothing about this that screams essential. It is competently performed and sung and is a very very pleasant and fun listen but ultimately I don’t see myself necessarily coming back to this one

Kind of hype, but still has the limitations of a live album. Give this a mid 3. Not worthy of 4, but honestly a really good live album. Great performance and setlist. Thin Lizzy has some talent and good songs!

Decent but doesn’t take it up a notch.

Didn't really know what to expect from Thin Lizzy. But knew some of the songs. All in all enjoyed the album - I could here so many bands from the 80s in it though.

I knew more of this than I thought. It was better than I expected, usually thinking of Thin Lizzy as a bit dad-rock. Dragged a bit through the back half.

This was fun, it's a really great and energetic live record. Don't think I'll ever listen to it again. But this is about as much as you can ever get me to enjoy a '70s hard rock record.

Boys are back in town ! Powerful live album. Rock !

Album correct. Un groupe que je ne connaissais pas (sauf la toune Thé Boys Are Back in Town), des musiciens compétents, mais rien qui ne m’accroche vraiment. La toune Johnny the Fox Meets Jimmy the Weed est ma préférée.

Live and Dangerous was gonna be a hard one to impress me, coming straight after a different live album, in which I now wonder if that album can even be topped as far as live albums go. Part of me's a bit disappointed even, after reading that there was a lot of overdubbing on the record. Sure it might make it more listenable, but it begs the question, if it needs overdubbing to be listenable, why release the live tracks in the first place? That's the way I see it anyway, there's supposed to be some semblence of imperfection when a track's done live. Thankfully, the songs are pretty good overall here. Was a little too long, got pretty bored by the end, and it didn't help that some of the longer songs were there. The guitar work carries some of this record and it consistently pretty good. I don't think there was any real point in this being a live album, other than simply being able to listen to slightly different renditions of their already released songs but for what it is, it sounds good. Perhaps it's worth noting these are all first listens for me, so the songs are being judged as songs as a whole, not just the live performance aspect. Jailbreak was cool, very nice instrumental. Emerald also had some nice ideas, such as some really nice guitar work in the middle, wasn't as catchy as Jailbreak to me, but they kept the energy going at least, and it was still a good song overall. I wasn't really a fan of the main vocalist's performance on the verses, but the chorus was pleasant sounding and catchy, and it seems to be a trend that the guitars are just good on these tracks, so that saves it kinda. By contrast, Rosalie has a much better sounding vocal performance in my opinion, a lot more electrifying. Dancing In The Moonlight doesn't really fit, coming off of the previous tracks, I thought. The sax is a nice change of pace I suppose but something about the song makes me feel like it came at the wrong time. Massacre brings us back to speed, and I am happy again. Loving the guitars and bass on this record, for sure a standout. They really know how to make memorable instrumentals. Still In Love With You slows things down again, but this time something about it feels more appropriate. It's nice, but I do kinda wish the instrumental breaks were shorter on this track. While they've been highlights of the record for me so far, I think this song is much more suited for singing. Nitpicks aside, it's still decent. I found Johnny The Fox Meets Jimmy The Weed to be pretty unremarkable, to be blunt. A fine song but it just kinda played in the background, which I couldn't say about any of the prior tracks. Similar case for Cowboy Song unfortunately, though the guitars do save it this time, so not as bad. OH I didn't know The Boys Are Back In Town was by these guys. First time in these 1001 albums I've recognised a song I think. And this live version's just as good as I remember it. Don't Believe A Word was cool. I didn't know what to comment on specifically, I just liked it. I hated the vocal work on Warriors honestly. It just sounded bad. I wasn't even much of a fan of the song in the first place but that really didn't help. By Are You Ready I was kinda tired of the record. I'll listen to the rest but I doubt I'll have any more comments on songs from here. FAVOURITES - Jailbreak; Massacre; The Boys Are Back In Town LEAST FAVOURITES - Johnny The Fox Meets Jimmy The Weed; Cowboy Song; Warriors

its thin lizzy live

Took me back to the 70’s, great guitar solos

Great Live album, nice vocals and guitars and some prette good songs too

very pleasantly surprised here, enjoyed the whole thing

A lot more musically interesting than I anticipated. 3.5

I haven't listened to the Lizzy much other than the hits. This is a fun record 3.5 stars

Good live album I just don’t know their music enough to care

Not a live album guy but this is good

Way better than expected Took itself more seriously than I thought

thought it was boring one hit wonder dad rock at first then i listened more and realized these are actually some pretty good riffs

Wel leuk maar niet m'n ding. Wist niet dat ze van 'The boys are back in town' waren.

How excited did people get for live albums before YouTube made it easy to get clips of bands playing live? I guess it's fitting that I had to listen to this album on YouTube because Spotify didn't have all the tracks available. Typically I skip live albums in favor of 'best of' albums (or playlists) with all the studio tracks, but I'm glad I had to give this one a shot. To be clear, I do appreciate live music, but I feel like I have to turn the volume way up on live albums to get a full appreciation for the experience and that's a commitment I'm not usually willing to make. That said, I'm sure there's a pantheon of the greatest live albums of all time and that I should spend more time with that list. I'm a little dismayed to read about the controversy surrounding this album and how much of it was or wasn't overdubbed. For me, that really blunts how much I 'm able to appreciate this album. This sounds like a really great tour, but is this really what a concert would have sounded like? Without that additional knowledge I think I would have become very bullish on Thin Lizzy after this. I'm still curious to dig into their studio recordings a little more, but will always wonder how much studio magic is involved.

There is way more overdubbing than live here. It feels more like audience noise was dubbed into studio recordings, but with the quality of live tracks recorded in the 70s. So not great. The music is generic 70s rock. Not great, not bad. I don't mind listening to it, but I wouldn't choose to listen to it.

Much better than I thought it’d be, really good playing edit: I found out this was overdubbed in the studio vehemently, bumping down one star

Live rock kan noget, god energi, masser af elguitar,

Pretty fun. Highlights are Boys are Back in Town, Jailbreak, Southbound, Still in Love with You, and Don’t Believe a Word.

Solid rock and rock with decent lyrics.

Rocky classic

This was a fun live record. Each band member had their own time to shine, and every track was strong instrumentally. I also enjoyed how well they worked the crowd. The only thing that could have been better was if the vocals were slightly louder. Favourite Track(s): The Boys Are Back In Town Least Favourite Track(s): Sha-la-la, The Rocker

Ok, for a live album

Much better than expected, and no Whiskey in the jar.

Unknown band for me. Common run of the mill rock and roll. Good album.

Perfectly fine - some standout songs like Jailbreak, Emerald, and TBABIT, but otherwise wasn’t engaged by the music. 3/5

Classics and great early rock

I have heard some of these somewhere. Not bad but idk if its for me.

Pretty good, forgot they sung the boys are back in town

Do you remember that guy Rodrick wanted to hire for his band in Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2? Same vibe. Finally some hard rock! Live and Dangerous has quality and consistency, even though mixing live performance and studio recording may be a little controversial. The worldview is completely hedonistic, as expected. Sometimes lyrics are very sexual. 6/10

Love thin lizzy but their studio work is better for some of the songs
