Reviews (page 7 of 8)

Half the album are interludes

I was only familiar with the two TLC songs (scrubs and waterfalls) which are good songs. I couldn’t get into any of the other tracks. I’d consider this group a 2 hit wonder.

Shit like this is exactly why I hate skits & interludes. I've never gotten through an album and thought "solid but it could use more yuks." How are you going to get 90s Busta Rhymes on your album and not let him rap at all? I thought they rapped a little more, but i did enjoy the music. They get an extra star for the Andre verse that I never heard, but lose points for filler bullshit.

The big 3 are still alright songs. Maybe 14 year old me should’ve listened to this to this. It could’ve of given me a better understanding of the importance of “game”. However, those days have long past.

When this came up i had positive feelings, however i also had them when it finished. Very dated mid 90's girl rnb with very little to stand it out from the crowd.

Album 748 of 1089 TLC - Crazysexycool (1994) Rating : 2 / 5 I remember it being a pretty successful album. Waterfalls is ok but part of it is just the memory of hearing it so many times.

Just an alright listen. Felt it got a bit boring and monotonous at times. I liked the rhythm, but the vocals and production weren’t really for me. Wasn’t a fan of the interludes. ‘Waterfalls’ was definitely the standout, though it was the only track I knew before listening.

Not my sweet spot but very much enjoyed this on an early morning. Good vibes, great sentiment and an anthem of the 90s.

Question: Do people actually get the horn from, or have sex to ‘sexy music’ like this? I’ve generally been of the feeling that getting it on while someone (male or female) not involved in said act is gently singing to you to get it on all night is somewhat of a turnoff. It’s a bit like when you’re playing football as a kid and your Dad’s watching on the sideline shouting ‘’Welly it Jimbo!’ Am I in a minority here? Either way, it’s all pretty bland stuff, and it could do with getting out of sexy 2nd gear occasionally. Fair play though for the skit which is rather mocking male gansta rap shite.

Creep is good.. Waterfalls is fine.. The rest of album is really kinda boring with just some really bad production.

No thank you. Why is this middling (at best) record on this list? Waterfalls is ok.

Waterfalls is the only song I'm familar with & would listen to again.

Not a fan of this type of music so much. Not horrible but not my thing.

++: Creep, Diggin' on You, CrazySexyCool – Interlude, Waterfalls, Let's Do It Again, Can I Get a Witness – Interlude, Sumthin' Wicked This Way Comes +: Red Light Special, Intermission-lude, Switch +-: Intro-lude, Kick Your Game, Case of the Fake People, If I Was Your Girlfriend, Take Our Time -: Sexy – Interlude 5,8/10

A couple of good songs but most of it sounded the same and ran together

One for the girls.

I can't say I enjoy this kind of 90's R&B, the production just sounds like I'm in an indoor pool. It's certainly not an unpleasant listen, but wasn't for me.

I like “Boom!”. I like “Bap!” I really like “Boom Bap!” But the mix on this album is awful.

Nope.could only listen to a few songs. Never could get into this type of music.

Pop or R&B, whatever combination this is considered just doesn't do anything for me. I remember liking 'waterfalls' as a kid, relistening to it didn't hit the same. Heard way more cheesy porn music sound in it, that I don't remember haha. What seemed like lots of repetition of the album title during skits or interludes and I found it a little annoying.

This was fine. I'm not really into R&B, but this felt well-produced (if a little too long). The songs are mid, but I can appreciate the cultural and musical impact the album ultimately had. I don't expect it'll be one I revisit.

Lost my attention as soon as it hits track 3. It is entirely my problem but I really don't like and am not familiar with this type of music, i guess it's some kind of hip hop...? I wish they could do more instrumental arrangements, though I suppose this is not what they do in hip hop? I really don't know. Gonna gently put a 2.5 here but I guess it's my reason for not enjoying this.

Until I listened this album, I always associated TLC with the amazing Waterfalls video. Now I associate them with a poop joke. Gross.

Crazysexycool is fairly apt. It’s definitely is sexy, exotic even. Told from the woman’s point of view, it was unique at the time. But the songs are most mediocre. Waterfalls is iconic and other than that Something Wicked This Way Comes is the highlight 5.6/10

Sumthin' Wicked This Way Comes.

I found it so boring and uninteresting - It just feels very generic.

not my taste

The tracks are OK with some good songs. The production and the beats are the star of the album. I will probably not listen to this one again.

1.5 Got as far as the Red Light Special track. Think I deserve some sort of medal for withstanding 20 minutes. Absolute shite. Boring music, sounds like when you played on a keyboard in school in the 90s and it had 1,028 pre-programmed background beats. They seemed to cycle through 15 of them. The lyrics absolutely woeful. Like it was made for teenage boys in an era devoid of online porn. The only redeeming point is if you tune out of everything the vocals didn't sound terrible, just bad. Congrats.

I have always said creep is their best song, miles ahead of no scrubs or waterfalls. With that said, it's an interlude, creep, three more interludes. The tracks are pretty forgettable, big closer with andre 3000, but that's it. 2/5

this made me want to chase waterfalls

One track I remembered

The type of music that is well made and performed, but I wouldn't ever purposely choose to listen to it. If it comes on the radio, I wouldn't change that channel, but not much more than that

Roughly what I expected, and definitely better than a lot of the 90s pop we’ve encountered here. Still don’t care much to listen though. That’s life.

Not my thing

The groovy RnB beats make this album. Pretty vintage 90s hip hop bbq stuff. I was surprised to hear Busta Rhymes and Andre 3000 on this album. Their timelines did not overlap in my mind. I ultimately, found the subject matter to be pretty shallow, save for waterfalls, and I could definitely have done without the skit where someone flushes a toilet.

From the limited music I'd heard I'd always thought that TLC were probably the best of this sort of poppy r and b/hip hop. Waterfalls and No Scrubs are decent and more interesting than the usual. I tried to hold on to this opinion as we went through this album, there were a couple of decent beats here and there. Well before the official death knell of Busta Rhymes showing up I was forced to admit this was rubbish. It didn't take any interesting turns and pretty much sounds like any other similar album on this list.

Not really for me

Insanely horny. Like, the perfect album for teens to do clumsy heavy outside-the-pants petting in 1996. Waterfalls is, of course, a megahit, but this brand of R&B is really not where I spend my time. It's obvious how this album was a huge hit: slick, well produced, well sung, but it has the unfortunate position of having set the tone rather than being superlative, so it's kind of forgettable in that sense if you didn't grow up to it blasting sex-vibes straight into your teenage brain. Which I didn't.

kinda mid

Modern R&B... Meh just not my thing2.5 stars

这是,rap???

It’s strange that I was thinking of TLC only minutes before being generated this album. The only track I recognised here is Waterfalls which is undoubtedly a banger. The rest of the album, however, felt ultimately rather forgettable. There is an interlude track called Sexy which will stick with me, but for all the wrong reasons. As a whole, this album was ok. One obvious banger, but then a lot of filler. Maybe it’s just not to my taste and others out there love it from front to back. Who knows?

"Sexy"-Interlude? WTF?! This kind of music holds no interest for me and I would never seek this out. I didn't hate it and it wasn't horrible but doesn't reach a 3 for me. 2.5/5

Girl power all the way, but this? Nah

One or two decent songs - Waterfall especially familiar - but overall like being on hold with a utility company... High 2 but still a 2.

didn’t really like this album much

I thought that reading their wiki was more interesting than the album

Waterfalls has got to be a top 100 song of all time right? objectively Other than that, kinda boring :/ I wanted to like more than I did. Andre 3000 though!

Saved Prior: Waterfalls Off Rip: Intro-lude, Creep, Kick Your Game, Diggin' On You Cutting Edge: None Overall Notes: "I don't remember it being this horny" is an absurd and unserious thing to say about an album with MULTIPLE phone sex interludes and a song called "Red Light Special". 2.5 rounded down cus it's too long for its own good, but when it hits the spot it hits the spot (pause). Kick Your Game is up there with the most underrated songs I've gotten from this generator how in the world was this not a smash hit.

This is just not my genre of music. It felt very 90's, especially the interludes.

Not my bag

Pretty grim listening. Creatively pretty dull, the beat was the same for every song more or less. A couple of catchy tunes but mostly an expression of a movement and a culture that I play no part in.

Trash.

A strong 2, if there's such a thing.

sexy r&b.. not for me

I was sort of vibing with it then she did a shit whilst on the phone to somebody and it ruined the album for me.

This does not move the needle one bit. One of the “I can’t wait for this to be over so I don’t have to ever listen again” albums.

Har altid synes TLC har været kedelige.. waterfalls :) 2.5/5

Why was there an interlude of basically just phone sex?? Ridiculous

Dated 2000s r&b

Okay I really am not a fan of this genre haha. This was a hard listen for me. I'm not against music made for teenage girls by any means but this one didn't do it for me at all. Waterfalls is by far the best song on the album. The interludes were hilarious though.

There's some decent material on here, but (like many albums in the genre) the idea of a faux-plot with various interludes is just not cohesive enough for a good album experience. The inclusion of these interludes comes off as a bit pretentious when they could easily have been made full tracks, or even better, left off the album entirely – especially given that they sound like knock-offs of earlier tracks (and of each other). Just because interludes are a staple of 90s dance/hip-hop doesn't mean they're a good idea. Sexy-Interlude is the worst offender here, being a gross and immature non-sequitur to the previous songs. I'm also not a big fan of certain parts of the instrumentation and performance. The choice of instruments creates a texture that often combines very poorly with the vocals (especially the huskier singer) and makes the lyrics difficult to hear. This is noticeable in Case of the Fake People and Let's Do it Again, among others. Additionally, the lyrics themselves clearly cater to an audience that I'm not a part of. That's not necessarily a fault of TLC, but more so an artifact of relying on a vibe that's... well... crazy, sexy, and cool. Not really my thing. That being said, there are some positives to point out. Creep and Waterfalls (particularly the latter!) have some seriously great hooks and instrumentation, cementing their well-deserved status as 90s classics. Check out the brass and dynamic basslines in Waterfalls – now that's what I'm talking about. The production is also consistently solid and immersive, and there's some serious attitude in the singing. If I'd been a teenage girl in the 90s, I could've easily fallen head-over-heels for this. That being said, I'm lowering my rating slightly to counterbalance all the 5-star reviews. This is definitely not a 5-star album. 2/5 Key tracks: Waterfalls, Creep, Diggin' On You, Switch

Not a fan. Even when this came out. Not my genre although I appreciate TLC was a big deal.

I thought I was going to find this fun but found it very hard to get through. Not my bag. Wasn't then and isn't now. What a LONG album too. Bloated, as Tom FA would say. Other than the hits I did not like this at all.

The singles were really good of course but the rest was rubbish, just a lot of filler for some singles.

no m gustaaaaa

OK... Not hip hop, but a little to close for my preferences 2 stars

Hieman turhan imelää tämä. Jotain hyviä ysärisoundeja, mutta aika tasapaksu. 2/5

Don't go chasing waterfalls, stick to the dicks and balls you are used to.

Fell asleep except for the two hots

not my thing but who doesnt like waterfalls

Creep and Waterfalls are forever classics, but most of this album is a bit dated and corny sounding to listen to in full.

I was more excited about this album before it started than I was after it ended. I like "waterfalls" well enough, but "Creep" wasn't what I remembered. I think I was probably thinking of a salt n peppa song. Red light was stuck in my head for the most of the day, but it's really not a flattering song for me to be singing. Kind of borderline inappropriate. Nostalgia didn't save this one for me. Favorite track "Waterfalls" 2/5

Ok, but not for me. Best track is Waterfalls 2/5

I remember Waterfalls, it's kind of okay. The rest of the album is a journey of drabness. It's a weak two star effort.

This was fine. Female hip hop group. I thoughts the beats were okay. Some songs were a bit repetitive. Not really worth a relisten

The only word that really comes to mind while I listened to this: boring. Not bad, but boring.

I really wanted to like this but even for me it was too overly engineered.

Not my jam. I feel like when I was a teenager and it came out It was better? But now, as an almost 40-year-old it is not great.

For starters, too long. There is no need to fill an hour when 35 to 40 minutes would have worked better. Especially when a lot of the stuff sounds the same. And it all sounds a bit 14-year old to me. Not a fan.

a bit boring

I'm sure it's good for what it is, but it isn't my thing.

It isn't holding up well

Thought I would enjoy more than I did. May be my unfamiliarity with the genre but didn’t do it for me. 2.5/5 but rounding down as I won’t be seeking it out again

2 Really hard album to rate. Waterfalls is a great song and switch and diggin on you are good. Then the rest are boring overly horny repetitive filler. But within the filler there is some really great funky bass lines that get completely overshadowed by how bad the rest of the song is. And then there’s the awful interludes sprinkled through the album. Waterfalls alone isn’t enough to save the album

This was one of my favourite songs on it, namely 'Waterfalls'. However the rest is not quite in the same league, but still good for a genre I normally avoid like the plague. A high 2.

Too much is going on in the harmonies (background and singing) to really appreciate them, other than the general vibe. Or maybe just the mixing is bad. Not sure. I do like the general vibe though. Their voice(s) sounded a lot better and cut through more when the pitch was a bit higher, but for some reason a lot of the songs had them singing low for a significant portion. I do like the bits with rapping though. “Waterfalls” is played so often in the UK. It’s fine, but not sure why it’s that popular.

When I started listening to this my buddy told me about how one of the band members burnt down her cheating boyfriends house then got away without criminal prosecution. "Waterfalls" was the only song in this album I could've picked out from a lineup.

I can appreciate the skill it takes to perform at this level. But skill doesnt always mean it sounds good. They can harmonize, but its the same droning sounds in every song. It's background music in a 90's clothing store at best.

This album wasn't really for me, a lot of the songs blended together and dragged. TLC has amazing voices though, can't fault them there! Hated all the interludes (except for "Sexy-Interlude" obviously), I have no idea why we were so obsessed with interludes in the 90s/early 2000s.

Ooo baby baby I’m not diggin’ on this. But I do understand it’s inclusion on the list.

Got through it. Didn't really enjoy, but didn't mind either Will I listen to again: 0%

2/5 nothing much

Waterfalls is a great song with an unnecessary rap bridge and the only reason this earns a 2. The rest is entirely forgettable. I had to take a break after Waterfalls when I realized it wasn't close to over and I had several more songs that all sound the same to go.

Didn't care for it at the time and still dont

I’ve never been a big fan of R&B. Creep and Waterfalls remain earworms but the rest just do not appeal to me. Most 90s R&B sounds the same with few outliers and this album is really no exception. I’ve seen some other reviews that say you had to be a teenage girl in the 90s to get this album. I was, and I didn’t like this type of music then and don’t like it now. I appreciate their talent so I’ll give this a 2.

While I think Waterfalls is a masterstroke, I don't know where the rest of the album is going. The last few songs get better but overall it's pretty boring and as sexy/cool as plain toast.

2/3 - The better songs are okay enough in a sea of filler. Can't avoid the cookie cutter pop sound though.

Decent album but not my cup of tea, mid 2.

Jason waterfalls was the only standout song on the album.

I remember Waterfalls but nothing else here. I also remember later on having trouble believing that this was the biggest selling American girl group of all time. I’ve just listened to this album & it fails to thrill me. These ladies were not in the same league as The Supremes, The Vandellas, The Marvellettes, The Shangri-La’s……Sorry, I don’t get it.

Somehow, I miss this type of light R&B that was so common during the 2000s. At the same time, I wonder how something can be so generic that it is forgettable 1 second after finishing the listening session. They deserve one extra star for being a bit ahead of their time.

Some interesting bits, nice atmosphere, but didn't do much for me other than that

Bof. Some bangers but didn’t pass the test of time. 2 stars

Not my thing.

waterfalls is cool didn't finish cause wasnt a vibe

Not my thing

A bit repetitive and simplistic, but album finished stronger than it started. Vocals were not appealing. Fav tracks: If I Was Your Girlfriend, Take Our Time, Waterfalls

Pop. Hip hop. Lo de siempre.

This is one of those albums, man. If every song was as good as the two singles off of it, it would be incredible. But it tends to dip down into generic territory a bunch and its given itself lots of room for generic songs. Overlong and underdone.

Pneumatic 1990s soul with a couple of decent tracks and a whole mess of filler. I can't even tell you if TLC are good singers are not, so freighted in studio flummery are their vocals. Things that did stand out - the rather steamy 'Let's Do It Again' and the searing yacht rock lead guitar in 'Red Light Special'. 'Waterfalls' is a genuinely lovely track, but it's not enough to elevate this album as a whole.

TLC was destiny's child before destiny's child. But like Jesus Christ there is Before Beyonce and After Beyonce.

Boring!!!

It's not the worst-sounding album on this list by miles. There have been enough completely unlistenable punk, reggae and rap albums vying for that position. But really, that's the only positive thing I have to say about it. This album is the epitome of why I'm not interested in radio-pop. There's nothing that is in any way interesting about this. The few times I paid any attention to the lyrics they sounded completely vapid.

They really hit the perfect balance of crazy sexy and cool on this one! I remember the singles off of this record and I feel like that's enough TLC for me!

It’s the beginning of the end of good music right here.

Not my jam

Niet bepaald crazy

This is certainly a classic of the later RnB. It has some great songs but I prefer the Neo Soul movement if I want to listen to the music of that time.

Wasn't keen at all.

Man, they were really proud of this album title. It was alright, but not much interested me here besides Waterfalls.

I was really hoping this album would be a good one that I hadn't listened to before. This is hot trash surrounded by two absolute slappers. This group had so much good style and talent, how did the b sides suck so badly?

Two good songs and a lot of boring.

It's OK. Not particularly my sound.

An hour of TLC feels like a lot. Creep is a banger though. 2/5

Sounds of the past that went over my head

Not for me

You know... It's good. But doe sit hold up? I'm not sure.

WHY ON GOD'S GREEN FUCKING EARTH IS ONE THIRD OF THE TRACKLIST MADE UP OF INTERLUDES. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

Has its moments, and production is a great timestamp, but the length is also an awful timestamp. Why tf did all these albums where so long?

Smooth production - so smooth it almost hides the absence of melody,. Cliche-ridden, vacuous.

As someone who quite likes No Scrubs and Waterfalls I thought I’d always have time for a bit of TLC, but it turns out I don’t have this much time. Only small doses of sexy 90s R&B for me please, or I get booooorrrreeeed.

OkIprobablyDidntNeedToListenToThisThough

This sucks... waterfalls isn't even that good

I didn't dislike this as much as I had suspected I would, but it did wear on me over the course of the album. It was a bit too horny for me. My favourite song was Diggin' On You.

its was bad but kinda okay

Eh. Not really for me.

foundational 90s r&b. kinda cheesy, pretty horny. wasn't super engaging to someone who has no nostalgia towards this album. 2.5/5

Probably a big r&b album in its day, but not my kinda music. I do like the bass and percussion in these songs.

Did not age well unfortunately, feels bland by today’s standards

Cool production but no thank you.

Even as a product of its time this one wasn't carried hard enough by the hitd

Creep- 4.3 Kick Your Game- 6 Diggin' On You- 5.7 Case of the Fake People- 4 Red Light Special- 4 Waterfalls- 4 ... Honestly I don't feel like eating the rest

Soft RnB…nice, but also a bit on the boring side in retrospective

Some smoothe 90's R&B, but ultimately not really my thing

I know this was huge, but really doesn't do much for me. Waterfalls is fine, the rest is forgettable to someone not super into the genre.

A few interesting songs, but most seems just bland pop R&B.

Even "Don't Go Chasing Waterfalls" isn't that good.

Nope. None of the things it advertises.

Waterfalls is a cool song with an attempt at generating imagery and carrying some kind of a positive message, although the images are sad and tragic. Much of the rest of this album borders on softcore porn. I’m not a fan of male singers explicitly getting into sex act descriptions, even when it’s someone as talented as Prince, and I’m just as put off by women doing it. When it’s done with humor and fun I can laugh along, but what TLC do sounds more like they hope people will listen to this music while going at it. It’s just too on the nose for me.

Se me hizo áspero de escuchar

Just sounded like standard 90s pop r'n'b to me. Probably a good example of what it is, but not really my thing. Rating: 2/5 Playlist track: Waterfalls Date listened: 22/09/22

This list has been interesting in the fact that my taste in music has been write all a long. This is just a fade pop album

Not my kind of music by quite a stretch, and not because it's clearly aiming at horny folks.

Don’t go chasing waterfalls was my first cassette tape.

Not a fan of TLC

Waterfalls is good but I like other peoples versions better

2 Ofc I knew of No Scrubs thanks to Weezer but the rest of this album didn’t really do it for me. It was pretty cool 90s hip hop for a while but I found myself getting very bored near the end. I have always loved the song Waterfalls though. I need to listen again because I don’t feel like I got everything out of it. Favorite songs: Creep, Diggin’ On You, Waterfalls

The 90s vibes are there all right but really it's not very good ^^'

Don’t enjoy this one quite as much as I used to.

Some solid singles interspersed with mediocre filler material and extremely cringy interludes. Red Light Special is the stand-out. Andre 3000 feature on the last song an unexpected surprise.

Was pleasantly surprised with the first track, but then it turned into what I was expecting

The singles are great, but this album doesn't offer much else besides for a feature from Busta.

Not quiet my cup of tea, too poppy, did have a few classics on it though.

A classic from high school, but the single subject matter (relationships / love / sex) gets old half way through.

It's very 90s, I can't sit through much of this

Waarom was dit ooit zo populair? Iemand?

A couple of great tracks but a bit samey overall.

Much dirtier than I remembered. Too many "interludes". Wasn't my thing as a kid, and still isn't I guess...

Nameless 90s R&B. Wasn't my fav genre to start with - even back then I thought TLC were shit - and listening to almost an hour of it in 2021 was pretty painful. 2/5.

Väldigt kåt stämning i albumet. Sensuella låtar erotiska texter porriga beats. Men även många chill beats to relax and study to. Bäst när det blir mer hip-hop än R&B, som i Switch och Sumthing Wicked This Way Comes. Take Our Time är också ganska bra, fin sång. Bästa låt: Sumthing Wicked This Way Comes, även om den inte är signifikativ för resten av albumet.

Not bad, but it probably sounded better at the time before all the really shit r&b pop groups came after them

A good album but not one that I would likely revisit

Eh, no thanks. 2 stars.

Feels like it wants to simulate the coccyx orally. Zest is in no short supply, but not for me. Waterfalls obviously the best

I uh...I don't think I was the target demographic for this album. I didn't really like it much, but it wasn't really made for me. I also might have liked it more if I listened to it when hanging out with friends or something, instead of while walking around campus and then washing dishes. I liked the "Rapper's Delight" reference in "Switch", that was pretty neat. Besides that, I think I probably could've died without hearing this album.

Not my type

This album has not aged well at all. Some cool songs that bring back the mid 90’s nostalgia but all being said, doesn’t stand up. Watch the movie “the other guys” and this album becomes a lot more entertaining care of Michael Keaton. Im gonna use sexy interlude as a song and prank P-Diddy.

Hi everyone, I'm Mark.

Don't like the style, don't like the lyrics, probably not my thing. Won't listen again.

Unoffensive, but not my thing.

Waterfalls

There are maybe 2 1/2 good songs on this album. Waterfalls is a no-brainer - great hook, tight harmonies, cool metaphoric lyrics - it definitely deserved to be a hit. I don't think I'd ever listen to any other song on this album on purpose again.

I didn't dislike it as much as I thought it would, but still not my taste. 6.3/10

not good so many sex noises

Hit skip before the end of several songs

Atlantic 252 vibes

Can understand why it was a big album in the 90's but not for me.

eeeeeeeeeeh

Songs are ok, all the inbetween yoyoyolookatme less so

waterfalls has value

I still like Creep and Waterfalls but as a whole not my jam.

overrated even with the single. weird al did it better

Fun, but fairly generic outside of the hits

A couple good tracks. Not my thing overall.

I remember when I was in elementary school around the turn of the millennium, all the girls seemed to be obsessed with TLC, Destiny's Child, Aaliyah, and whoever was on American Idol. I was not, since I wasn't really part of the target audience for any of those people. Around two decades later, I guess I'm still not, but this album was pretty listenable compared to other pop music of its era. Best song: Waterfalls is a better version of Still Rock and Roll to Me by Billy Joel, and If I Was Your Girlfriend fooled me for the first 40 seconds into thinking it was made by Trent Reznor.

Väldigt nära en 1:a. Skärpning!

Crazyness: 3/5 (all earned by "Sexy-Interlude", ugh, what in the name was that!?) Sexiness: 1/5 (tried very hard, achieved barely anything) Coolness: 0.5/5 (just no, sorry) This album really isn't for me. I found it to be forced and very artificial. It was't unlistenable, but I won't ever put it on again. Album rating: 1/5 - very weak

Jezus Christus.

If nothing else, this random album thing means forcing us to listen to stuff we would never give a second look let alone hear. Sometimes, as I've already seen, this means new sounds will override past prejudices and open up opportunity for new aural pleasure. This didn't.

What a load go keach!

Btw this is not going to be a serious review. This album was low-key so buns like it was actually painful, it started off fairly alright and just got worse and worse. I got a headache just listening to it. I don’t see why on earth this is deemed as an album you MUST listen to before you die, there’s absolutely nothing special about it, it’s just your average R&B slop, it’s not even special in its own genre which is already a genre I’m not that into, I mean if you want to listen to R&B listen to Ms Lauryn Hill or Erykah Badu or some shit not this rubbish. Also, the interludes were often unnecessary and instead of emplacing cohesiveness where it was much needed, it just highlighted how lacking of cohesiveness this album was. The sexy interlude is a whole conversation of its own, I mean how on earth does some inane joke about getting your arse wiped and then the sounds of shitting and a toilet flushing make an album more cohesive? I simply don’t understand. The problem with this album is that even the better (emphasis on *better*) songs in the tracklist were not songs I would in any case listen to outside of listening to this album for the purpose of doing the 1001 albums thing. Trash. Also that one verse by Andre 3000 was like the best part of the album and he’s not even part of flipping TLC, he’s an Outkast 😉

Este tipo de música no me va.

Not very interesting apart from Waterfalls.

Not really my bag, but enjoyed it more than I expected. Waterfalls is still a great song.

Among the best of the one star albums so far, but not one I’d listen to again I’m afraid. Tom.

Hard pass

Didn’t make my whole way through. The songs I did listen to were pretty stinking. One of them sounded like a transition tune in always sunny or something

no llegue tampoco

The worst of the worst for me. I'm not a fan of 90's R&B, it's way too polished, edgeless and needlessly dragged out. This album switches between boring songs, boring skits, awful skits and awful songs. Waterfalls is a decent song but that's about it. I don't need this album to listen to Waterfalls, might as well listen to the 90's radio station variety hour. There were a few better parts about this album, the runtime isn't needlessly long like other 90's albums and I somewhat like the raspy voice one of the singers here has. Just really not my type of music.

Normally a classic song will bump an otherwise bad album up a star… but man every other song was rough

I have to hear Creep & Waterfalls every day at work on the radio. It’s cemented TLC as this band that I can’t stand & it’s not even their fault.

No All That theme song? Who cares?!

Unnecessary skits, nothing that really pops, no, this one disappointed me.

Exactly the kind of music I dislike. Manufactured, flat, lifeless. Songs that sound like they were written by a worker in an office, emailed to a producer who handed them down the production line to the singers and a guy behind a big sound desk. Reading the other reviews maybe TLC were among the first to do this, but for me that just means that this sounds rudimentary as well as opening the door to a million pretenders. Kick Your Game is just so lacking in anything. No one is putting in any effort or passion in the singing or backing, it sounds like a song recorded by 100% session musicians getting paid by the hour. Red Light Special and Let's Do It Again show that it's not just AC/DC or even men who can do distasteful and barely-veiled sexual references. I at least recognise Waterfalls, but the juxtaposition of its material with the rest of the tracks is uncomfortable and ill-advised. The best track for me was the penultimate Switch.

No thanks

Even by 90s pop-rnb standards I found this particularly unexciting, sadly. The interlude parts were really grating, too.

Not for me

This was awful.

Other than Waterfalls this album really isn't great.

Sem comentários!

Incredibly dull.

Could not finish this.

Cheesy pop guff. No idea why this is in this list.

Didn't listen. Just not my shit.

I really can't stand this kind of stuff and I really don't get how it ever got popular. My only explanation is that people were horny as fuck back then and needed dumb music to cum or something.

Only heard Waterfalls because someone made a reference to it and apparently there is a EDM track using the Creeping Acapella. Other than that, very dated 90s pop. a bit too long felt done after waterfalls but yeah, not my type of music. ...finishing this album it fell from a generic 90s pop 2 star to 1 star diddy production

So this is my first 1-star album. It's odd too as I really like TLC's radio stuff, including the radio hit Waterfalls. I didn't love the album as a whole (and it's not the explicit content, which I was a little taken aback, I've heard and liked far far far worse) it was the Interludes - they just seem childish and sophomoric, I struggled through them. If I was a tween girl in 1994 I could see this being a lifetime 5 (and for those of you that feel it's a 5 I support you - continue loving it!) I do feel bad - I hope this is my only 1 but I just didn't like this album and I don't think it should be in the top 1001 - still if I hear Waterfalls on the radio (or other TLC hits) I'm still loving the song.

Ehhhh not a huge fan

Ghastly

Mediocre pop music from a bygone era. They were an important counterpoint to the misogyny that was rampant in 90s hip hop. I was there; I remember. But this project isn't "1001 cultural players you should respect and applaud" its "1001 albums you should hear ..." This ain't one of them. Computer generated soul (consider the oxymoronic depth of THAT concept), mediocre lead vocals, and sophomoric lyrics.

Awful.

Urban bar Background music having a slow beat, and lyrics about fucking at night making this HipHop R&B.

This is absolute dog shit. I yearned for deafness. No idea how anyone could listen to this whole thing at once. I had to break it up into 20 minute segments in an effort to give the whole thing a legitimate chance. All copies of this, physical and digital, should be burned in a fire. I'd rather listen to raccoons mate in the woods.

Big deal - a girl group with a break out performer. That’s so surprising.

It was basically R&B elevator music for me. I didn't not enjoy it, but it did absolutely nothing for me. I think I need to listen to some Patricia Taxxon to cleanse my musical palette.

I was super disappointed by this album. Outside of Creep the rest of the album is a bunch of boring slow jams.

Rock was undergoing a huge surge at this time but you had to be careful and avoid top 40/teen radio because it was full of this junk. My hatred was only magnified by them purloining R'n'B as a title for this dull, wimpy, repetitious drivel.

What a awful album, I can’t find any redeeming qualities to say about it.

Maybe this was better at the time. Seemed like generic R&B now. I'd be happy to never hear the waterfall song again.

I think maybe 2 decent songs but overall this is an extremely boring album. The singing is out of key, and the production is just bad.

Not for me. At all. The hip hop portions are OK, but I just don’t like it. Gave up after three songs.

Disgusting.

No me gusta

I just don't like this album. I know it is going to be controversial but, I have my reasons. Sorry TLC but, you get a 1.

A fine example of trash sold as music to the deaf.

Crazy? Nö! Sexy? Nö! Cool? Nö! Turn off!

Boring.

One-dementional poppy R&B album. There were a couple interesting rap features but not enough to redeem it for me. I don't think that the singing is bad or anything. It just feels like it is nothing special and it's just not flavor of the R&B genre that I'm into.

283/1001 🌕🌗🌑🌑🌑

They did 2 iconic songs. But I really didn't need to listen to a whole album. Boring and very generic, I had to skip half the songs.

Disappointed to find out that Creep wasnt a cover of Radiohead like I was hoping. The disappointment though continued throughout. I quite like No Scrubs and was hoping for some more bangers like that, but was left with a pretty bland / lifeless record that sounds at times like it could be so much more. Again though, this sort of thing isnt for me. I’ve tried, but it’s just not very good imo. Maybe it is a classic for fans of this type of music. I imagine the same people who think a Korma is too spicy.

Waterfalls is fine, but drags on. The album is very much a celebration of monotony - the vocals are pretty bland throughout. Not for me this.

BoringSkettyShite Waterfalls is an ok pop song, the rest I found really quite awful. Loads of pointless interludes too. Don't like the RnB sound at the best of times Best part was Andre 3000s verse in the final track 1, worse than Britney

Boring

Intro was ok and second song wasn’t awful but this album draggggged, best part, it finished

This met all of my expectations.

I could have done without this pop shit this morning. I did not not want No Scrubs.

✔️ Crazy ✔️ Sexy ❌ Cool** ** with the exception of Waterfalls, that's pretty cool.

I fucking hated this album.

LameSmuttyVacuous
