Reviews (page 5 of 8)

a house is not a motel is good

Before: I've skimmed through this album at least once before. Two of the tracks are on my favorites from 1967 list, "Alone Again Or" and "Maybe The People Would Be The Times Or Between Clark And Hilldale". During: It's very pleasant music for the most part but the songs are not real interesting. Perfectly fine as background music, as long as you don't listen to the lyrics too much, some of them are really goofy, and not in a good way. The Red Telephone is awful. After: Overall, the music is very nice but the lyrics are distracting, as they are so literal and not very interesting. I prefer that if lyrics are easy to hear, they need to at least be interesting, clever, humorous, etc. Else, the lyrics need to be kind of fuzzy or hard to make out in which case the listener can kind of make up their own lyrics. But that's just me. I'll give it 3 stars.

Straightforward psychedelic rock with some pretty weak lyrics. I love this era but this isn’t the best example of it

This is more folk than psychedelic I think. It's ok. It's not bad, but nothing stood out either.

Not excellent, middle of the road, psychedelic folk music. Bummer in the Summer is the best, most of the album is just meh.

I just wanted to use the word sobriquet as I read it on another review here and learned something new. Also this was a nice album with lovely arrangements.

60’s Rock ⭐️A House Is Not a Motel

Great album! Loved the vibe of this one!

I felt like the strings were a little overdone, otherwise this good album could've been great. Favorite track: A House is Not a Motel

¯\_( ͡❛ ͜ʖ ͡❛)_/¯

Dai cool

Parts chill and enjoyable, others boring. Would try more if ever in the mood for slow, slightly psychedelic... but that's rarely my top choice

Kinda liked it. Some of the songs were boppy, I could get into them, some were slow and boring. It’s a background music that I enjoyed. Chill and vibe-y

Fingerpicked acoustic guitars and lightly strummed electric lines, chamber-pop strings that rise and fall in brief dramatic swells, and sudden flashes of brass and woodwinds support restrained, conversational vocals, making this Orchestral Pop album feel like strolling through a beautifully manicured park where the flowers are in bloom but warning signs quietly line the paths.

Liked it

Grundsolide ohne Ausreißer nach oben oder unten.

its good but i dont think i'd ever listen to it in my free time. like i dont see myself wanting to listen to this over other albums. very vibey tho

Nice 60s vibe. Just not my cup of tea. Can see why its in the 1001 cannon.

Nice record, only really knew Alone Again Or but the arrangements are great throughout, though none of the other songs are quite as immediate.

This was a really fun album to listen to. I don't know what I expected from the name and album art but it wasn't this. The guitar playing and singing blend well and the feeling throughout the album is coherent and really places you in a calm mood. Its not the kind of music I listen to a lot and this experience wont change that but I'm still happy I listened through it and experienced it.

Virkelig lækker lyd, men Love Again Or er helt åbenlyst standout-nummeret

Decent. Listenable. Doesn't really strike powerfully me in any way, but there were a few decent tracks and otherwise the album made for something nice to listen to in the background. Whelmed. I was whelmed.

I like the 70s rock sound

Good 60s pay-rock

I liked this more than I thought I would. It's very hippie, but the arrangements are done pretty well.

Started off very strong but the end fell flat for me

Fine; I guess

Did not expect much from this album but I was surprised of how much I ended up enjoying this album as a whole. Has power where it needs it and soft calming songs as well to fill the space. 9/10 I read it was a favourite of Jim Morrison and I see why he took notes from his songs here. Very hippie and psychedelic folk music. Really liked the guitar work in this really interesting arrangements, they even put some flamenco and horns in there. Some songs were very dark and folksy. Kind of reminded me of other progressive bands from that era, overall the standout really was the instrumentals here. I enjoyed the blues influence too. It’s folk rock, psychedelic pop, and baroque orchestration all blended into one album. Its very melancholic and deeply reflective. Nothing else from that era really sounds like this. It’s not an album that hits you immediately with big hooks but it slowly sinks in. Each listen reveals more layers. I totally 'love' album cover too. Very psychedelic and abstract, like the logo itself! My favourite tracks are Alone Again Or, A House Is Not A Motel, The Daily Planet, Maybe The People Would Be The Times Or Between Clark And Hilldale, Live And Let Live and You Set The Scene.

Waaaaaay softer and folkier than I anticipated. I guess I didn’t know this band at all.

generic, inoffensive 60s slop. 3/5

Hmm, what can I say? “Forever Changes” is a fairly ordinary 60s folk rock album—it sounds as you'd expect, it's not annoying, but it also has few moments that make you sit up and take notice. The first thing that really struck me was that on “A House Is Not a Motel,” someone made the guitar solo really loud. In a live situation, that would be remarkable in a positive sense; on the album it's... surprising. Otherwise... Yes, Love was obviously a pretty good band, tight and clean without technical support (which basically didn't exist in 1967, so that's actually a sign of quality – unfortunately, there are enough negative examples on this list). Since it lacks really exciting ideas, I still consider it mediocre.

Never listened to any Love before, but I enjoyed the folk-esque vibes of this album. It's a very easy listen that just feels like 1967. Top tracks: Alone Again Or, Bummer in the Summer, The Daily Planet

La fin me semblait plus intéressante avec Live and let Live et Bummer in the Summer.

Easy listening but wasn’t really for me unfort

Nice psychedelia that never quite excited. May be worth another go

I listen to a lot of 60s music, so I definitely recognized a few of these songs. I just never realized Love was the band behind them. That part was kind of a cool surprise. The Spanish style guitars and the Latin trumpet parts sprinkled throughout were a nice touch and gave the album its own flavor. Pretty solid listen while I spent the afternoon working in the yard but I don’t see myself going back to it.

never heard of them until today

Not bad though somewhat forgettable. No bad songs but no standout songs either.

I just can't get into Love. It's not bad, but I've tried a couple times including this listen and I just ain't feeling it.

Really stands up well after 58 years.

Beatles vibes.

Favorite track was live and let live

Forever Changes was certainly a pretty good album. This album definitely seems to be a pretty big deviation to their prior album "Da Capo" in a lot of ways. While that album had a very rough sort of sound, this one feels a lot more polished and orchestral. I don't think this change was bad because the songs here still sounded good and that distorted guitar did return for one track and added some nice variety. I still think i liked their last album more though, I just like the more rough sound as it gave it more character, this album just blended in a lot more with it's contemporaries. I still enjoyed this album to a decent extent though. Best Song: Live and Let Live Worst Song: Bummer in the Summer

Didn't really know anything about this band or album. It sounds like a run of the mill 1967 album, using all of the same tropes and hooks most bands were doing back then to try to get some radio play. That said it's still pretty enjoyable for me because I just like that era of music so much.

Surprised I’ve never heard of them but they felt like a mix of Rolling Stones and Jefferson Airplane. No songs really stood out on the album but also nothing dragged on and were mostly enjoyable.

It’s pretty good.

It's alright. Good for background listening, but the tracks are kinda forgettable.

Good but not for me

A kind of psychedelic folk with baroque pop and orchestral flourishes bringing to life often sophisticated songwriting. The record has a mournful feel that can be a bit overbearing after a while. Not in the center of my wheelhouse, but can appreciate the artistry and ambition.

Well done psychedelia.

Alone Again Or and Maybe the People Would Be the Times... are clear stand outs. The rest just do not do it for me. Production is pretty decent, I just don't really love the overall album apart from a few tracks

Some interesting ideas, like combining folk with string arrangements, but most of the songs amount to just two chords and monotonous vocals.

So sixties, even their voices sound like they’re from the sixties haha. Some of the lyrics are silly to me but not in a bad way, they’re just simple and true.

There aren't any brilliant standout songs for me, album was a nice listen though, really nice production for its time.

Had a few songs I really liked. Also had moments where I suddenly remembered, oh yeah, I'm listening to this... & it's not that long of an album..

Bought this as a teenager as I think Q magazine had called it one of the albums of the 60's. I tried very hard to like it but it never really connected. Listening again now I can appreciate the lushness of the arrangements and the psychedelic leanings.

3.5/5 cool bass, cool synths, but im too dumb for the lyrics. songs feel a little long/they drag on for a bit. overall i like the funky beats but the vocals feel too (old (??)) liked the sax in rio beat in The Chauffeur is amazing

3/5 - First couple of songs and Maybe the People Would Be the Times or Between Clark and Hilldale were very good, aside from that cool but not really noteworthy

Counterculture makes me tired.

Fine. Listenable I suppose.

Haven't listened to it in a long time and I know it's supposed to be like the best album ever but I didn't really feel it sorry folks Fav song: Andmoreagain

This had some good sounds but didn’t really get me too excited.

I didn't really know Love before although I have heard the opening track before. That's probably the highlight, I like the second track as well, the rest it started to sound like a lot of the mid-60s psychedelic rock on this list. Of which there is a lot. I did enjoy the strings and brass in particular though, some nice arrangements here albeit i found the second side a bit forgettable

Decent

weird beetles

2.6 Pretty bland 60s psychadelica poprock. Might have helped spurned a generation of music but in isolation there's nothing really catchy to draw me in. No really terrible tracks, but no good ones either

There's some really cool guitar play here. A mixture of Spanish plucking and rapid strumming. Many times the chorus is joined by some big stomping chords. Vocal harmonies aplenty in this album. I may be getting a little fatigued from these '60s folk rock groups. It seems like they all share very similar qualities with maybe a stand out song to refer to.

Mid-tier psychedelic 1960s Rock Music. There isn't much to love, or hate about this album. Favorite Track: "Live And Let Live"

Pleasant but unremarkable

6/10… baroque Pop / psychedelic rock

I feel quite conflicted about the album. It's pleasant enough but it doesn't grab me. It's ok...i guess

Strong first half that had me hoping for something that would transcend all of psych rock’s bad tropes. Didn’t totally do that. Verbose and intelligible at least. My pick is easily “House Is Not A Motel” 3/5

New to me (except for the first track). Enjoyable. Three stars. Surprised I haven't heard more about Love over the years.

Nice little 60s album 6/10

I'm giving this a bonus star for the pan/poly anthem that is "Alone Again Or". Otherwise this is a eminently forgettable piece of psychedelic rock that I don't hate enough to give it 1 star (as the baseline I'm adding that bonus to).

Good 60’s sound. Probably won’t turn this on, but I enjoyed it.

I can only listen to so much 60’s psych rock, but this was at least a little more interesting than run of the mill. More like a 3.5, and maybe it’ll grow on me on another listen.

Ok. ★★★

Heard some songs from it before. It's such a wonderful and creative album for its time. Truly worth a listen 3/5

It's an ok album, nothing special though.

3- Stars (7/15)

Hm I've heard this first song before...Alone Again Or The band is called Love? lol Bad ass trumpets in here. I like this sound. And the lyrics are pretty cool. Psychedelic!

Interesting album. It was a fun listen.

A bit of a tale of two albums for me at least. When they made their guitar the focal point of their songs, I really enjoyed it, when they meandered too far into whimsical theatrics, singing about snot crusting onto pants, they kinda lost me. Neil Young randomly given an “aranger” credit for one track, “The Daily Planet” To his credit, it has a good psychy folk rock mix to it and decent “arrangement”. I enjoyed this, but not all of it. 3 stars

Decent album. I like the intro track (Alone Again Or) and the rest is OK -- interesting mix of folk rock, occasional Spanish horn, etc. The vocals are at times kind of choir-boy like / angelic, which is different from other tracks I've seen where he's more gritty. Interesting that many years later Lee ran into issues with the law and served time in prison, before being released early due to prosecution misconduct.

Some '60s psych stuff, it didn't interest me too much but the music was generally decent even if it didn't feel special to me, it's still a good album to listen to

First listen

I liked some of it, I hated some of it. I kept swinging on the pendulum for my review and for that I give it a 3.

Enjoyed it for the most part!

First track is great. Rest has its moments

In a nutshell: love forever and ever amen. I am a sucker for orchestral pop. Mixing the genre with psychedelia and folk rock? Sounds strange on paper, but it somehow works. And the band Love has fans across many genres - Led Zeppelin, The Stone Roses, Primal Scream, Belle and Sebastian, The Doors, Teenage Fanclub, Yo La Tengo. Checks out. Overall: 5/10

The hit? Stands the test of time, no doubt. The rest of it is fairly ordinary and forgettable. 3 stars for the opener.

Not bad. Takes me back to some smoke filled rooms though. Very hippy-ish, but, hey! That was cool, man.

Charming and mellow

A meander through a psychedelic folk album with a surprising amount of orchestra. Quite a few tracks seemed to belong somewhere else, mexican, Dylan, 50s ballad. Some of the psychedelic lyrics were odd, I can't remember another song on snot... nice though 3/5

Good sound

Enjoyed the mellow sound, bit lost on some of the messaging but I'm sure that's all part of its charm.

Very mixed bag. Some fun instrumentals. Terrible wavery vocals. Some funny, and some cheesy twee lyrics. Thought my phone was broken at one point.

I had never heard of the band Love before. They definitely have that folk rock psychedelia feeling to them. The first song reminded me a lot of the Moody Blues until that trumpet comes in with its Spanish Matador style. I actually enjoyed this album quite a bit and I’m surprised I’ve never heard of them. Key songs were the Red Telephone and Maybe the People, with the really cool harmonized trumpet/vocal scat section. I could listen to this again.

Random thoughts: * I know Love has a bit of a cult following and I know the first song, "Alone Again Or". * This feels like a 1960s time capsule. There were some hints of The Who's Tommy in here. * I didn't realize that half the group was white and half the group was Black. Just learned that today. * I could live without this one to be honest. It's fine. Nice to hear but I won't be picking this one up again.

Pretty cool stuff

I'd never heard of this band, this was some good 60s psychedelic folky stuff. It's a high 3, but I think I've been quite generous lately and I probably won't revisit so doesn't make a 4

This album was fun. Felt SUPER 60s. It did feel super repetitive for a while. This is probably a 2.75 rounded up to a 3. Solid listen tho. Liked Songs: "Alone Again Or" , "A House Is Not a Motel" , "The Daily Planet" , "Maybe The People Would Be The Times Or Between Clark And Hilldale"

Pretty good, actually 3.5

the songwriting is great, the production is annoyingly outdated

this is just a fun and enjoyable album to listen to - fairly ahead of its time in the late 60s with the different revivals of sound coming from these time periods in the current day.

Quite nice, but feels really old. The instrument balance is weird.

Opens strong but kinda boring after

Not bad, a few nice moments but nothing particularly memorable. Comme ci comme ça

This is what I imagine you would get if you prompted ChatGPT to create a bunch of songs that sound like they weren't quite considered for the Forrest Gump Soundtrack. They are lacking a little something...probably just cultural permeation. The cover art is great!

Besides the first (great) song this is just a pleasant record. I do like the arrangements, but the lyrics aren’t that great. And it kinda starts to feel all the same by the end. 3/5

This was easy listening, I did enjoy it but not sure I’ll listen to again

Started off pretty strong. About halfway through, the lyrics got kinda cheesy... like if there was a stereotypical 60s hippy band in a sitcom kind of cheesy. But, I didn't hate his vocals... or the music. There's some songs in here that is revisit, but I'm not sure about the entire album. I think it's another 3.5 rounded down.

Nice music. Very Beatles Era.

Some vibes some poop.

W sumie lepsze niż się na początku wydawało. Klimat jakichś takich elektryczych gitar czy innych skaldów. 3/5

I don’t know? Every song starts and sounds like I’m going to like it but I can’t. I think it’s the voice

Kind of a strange mix of 60’s psych and folk. 3.5⭐️

Sometimes there's such a thing as too many drugs, and this album shows it. The first few songs sounded quite relaxing, and it slowly descended to the sound of existential dread. Something about the instruments and the production always sounded slightly off, and the lyrics were so weird and meaningless. I wasn't a fan of any of it, but in the end, it managed to retain the bizarre charm of 60s music.

I really enjoyed listening to this album! 60s stuff is a blind spot for me, so I appreciated getting exposed to a band I had not heard of. Best Track: Maybe the People Would Be the Times or Between Clark and Hilldale

This gave me Scott Walker vibes. Very wholesome.

I am a fan of 60s and 70s Dutch folk, and I can now hear where they got their inspiration from. It's psychedelic, but not completely over the top, and I really appreciate that. Nice record, even though it peters out!

Brilliant opener, but the rest of the album, while well arranged and written, is sadly more forgettable. Would be better with more hooks. On second listen, the strings and horns are amazing. Would still like better hooks, though.

I wish the singing was better on Andmoreagain cos it's a great tune. Maybe the People Would Be the Times or Between Clark and Hilldale is really cool. The 'track messing up' effect at the end of The Good Humor Man He Sees Everything Like This is REALLY cool. Pretty fun overall - most were quite filler-y/quaint sounding but still an enjoyable listen.

One for the hippies: 1960's Folk Rock / Psychedelia reminiscent of The Moody Blues, and even early stuff by The Who on tracks like "The Daily Planet". I was familiar with their hit "Alone Again Or" but I wouldn't have been able to name the band.

A 60s classic but would argue it's not completely prefect. 3.5*

A lot of pleasant songs

Ništa zadivljujuće, vrlo prijatno.

Liked this more than Da Capo.

Parts of it are fine, but I'm still waiting to hear the album that everyone else seems to be hearing. 3/5

Few really good songs. some songs in the middle giving rock musical vibes, some Beatles (that might just be 60s psych rock!)

Love is a super underrated band, and Alone Again Or is such a beautiful piece, but outside a couple classics, most of the album is average psychedelic rock.

The guitar is amazing

*** Ok but a bit lame

I just do not like psych rock but this is pretty good as far as the genre goes. It’s fine!

Kind of strange, but not terrible.

Folk Rock with strings, partly epic.

I’m so used to listening to The Damned’s version of Alone Again Or, so this was nice. The rest of the album was alright.

Mid as you like - nothing offensive and very listenable but absolutely nothing to get excited about. Preferred their other albums. Definitely not Love more Ambivalence

About as bang on an average 3 as it comes. Late 60s fodder

It wasn't entirely my style, and the fact the guitar would only ever play in my right ear kinda irked me. However, the lyrics offered a great amount of emotional connection.

Heard this before. I don't really find anything interesting about it.

not my usual vibe, but A House Is Not A Motel, Andmoreagain and Bummer In The Summer are total bangers (*´∀`)♪

Inoffensive but forgettable

I thought it was just ok. A generic 60s psychedelic album, I wouldn’t turn it off but I wouldn’t seek it out again.

i don’t remember much lmao but that kinda says it all. i do remember it wasnt bad so i’ll give it 3 stars. would listen again

Nothing bad. Nothing great. Just an average album.

They treat the scattered remains of the 60's with equal regard, only interested in reassembling them so that only the most intense moments remain. True to dream logic, not everything makes sense until it does.

I liked some songs, though overall, I’m pretty ambivalent. That said - I’m really not much a fan of psych rock in general, and I thought this album fared decently well compared to its peers. It felt distinct and pleasant. A House Is Not A Motel

One great song and the rest good.

Ganska okay 60-tals musik. Lite knackig production. Känns gammalt. Trea

Track one is such a banger. I think i listened to this album in 2019 and enjoyed it, but not retained anything from it, but its fairly decent

Good but nothing catches me.

I wonder what these guys think about their music and lyrics today. There’s some lame stuff lyrically calls, but it’s not terrible to listen to. Maybe on acid it would rate higher.

Interesting music. It sounds like a Beatles album only with some edge. The guitar probably makes the whole record: so crisp and groovy and a character all the way through. I'm not a huge fan of the lyrics (by the time I'm done singing / the bells from the schools of wars will be ringin). Id take that over some of the sockeningly banal subject matter of their near contemporaries, though.

Good enough that I listen to it twice today.

Wauw! FAVO: Love Again Or, Maybe the people .... ,

Första låten är ju busbra. I övrigt en okej platta.

Better than I expected, tbh. The song Red Telephone had some rather timely lyrics… 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺’𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘶𝘱 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺’𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘦𝘺 𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸 - 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦?

Not bad, I knew a couple of these.

First time I listened to this I didn't like it. Second time, I had a better experience, but I still felt very neutral about it. Third time.... I didn't listen to this album a third time. I don't feel like this album has anything that I'm missing. With the two listens I gave it, I may hace enough. For me, just a decent album. Great singing and playing, but it didn't impress me nor evoke any type of emotion.

Beautiful arrangements, Love is bursting with arrangement and composing talents. I love me some 60s psychadelia and this is some of the grade-A stuff. I especially like that this is slightly less "sunny" 60s psych and more dark paranoia. Didn't need to hear it before I die.

Eclectic and parts I loved.

I knew the first track but cannot think of from where. Thought it started out strong and got worse as it went on, but the first few tracks were kind of my wheelhouse for music of this era.

Have I heard of these guys before? Sounds familiar

Far out...

A fine classic 1960s psychedelic-era album. Nothing spectacular and the vocals are unique but I didn't mind it. Alone Again Or and The Humor Man were a couple songs I recognized. 5.5/10 (2.75/5)

Loved the horns throughout this one, but nothing caught my ears especially throughout. Solid and enjoyable though

Mostly indistinguishable from the Zombies album we listened to Alone Again + Maybe the People Would Be the Times were pretty sweet

The remnants of a hippie dream, lost but not forgotten.

Interesting

Hell yeah

The acoustic guitar is kinda nice. There weren’t any big stand out tracks for me. I listened while eating lunch and it was pretty good but did not wow me.

It was fine as folk goes. The only one that’s memorable was "Alone Again Or" / "A House Is Not a Motel" which I remember.

An interesting dive into psychedelia - 3/5

I liked its acoustic focus. Silly psychedelic rock bullshit. Didn’t hate it. Pretty self indulgent!!

I listened to it a few times and enjoyed it, but nothing really stuck out. Another psychedelic-background-music experience for me

ok - not more

It’s interesting getting a second album from a band, but much later in their career. They hardly even feel like the same band anymore (especially Side A). Still decent, just for different reasons. I liked the more acoustic and almost Dylan-esque style this one has. Favorite Track: Bummer in the Summer

Sounds fine. Good enough music. Not particularly remarkable to my ears.

Some real bangers on here... Some real duds too. The album left me conflicted, so I'm giving it three stars.

Fine background nothing special

This probably would have been meaningful to me when I was 20. In my mid-late 30s, it just sounds kinda dumb.

Many of my favourite psychedelic records are clearly inspired by Love and Forever Changes - so why can’t I get excited about the album? My best guess, after a couple of listens, is that it's some sort of Superman effect, where because it was a first of its kind, the choices and ideas now seem obvious and overdone. Good horns and strings though.

I had to listen a few times before reviewing this. I was absolutely sure, I was missing something. I thought I was gonna love Forever Changes - but I just think that it’s fine? I’m really not that excited after multiple listens and I don’t understand exactly why.

Bon exemple d'un projet qui encapsule son époque en étant intemporel. J'ai presque cru que c'était une réinterprétation des courants des années 1960, plus récente. La production est très maîtrisée.

Nothing wrong with it, but not the type of music I feel the urge to listen to

got a sense of a little whimsy which i didn't love but overall was fine.

hippies!

Was expecting great things for this, from what I had previously heard / read about it. Definitely odd and unique, but the feel was too folky for me to really latch on to it. I enjoyed bit of this, generally the more upbeat tracks such as 'Maybe...', but not one I would play from start to finish again.

Alone Again Or aside, it's all very Dungeons and Dragons.

Meh, normalne tyhle psycho mam rad ale tohle me zas tolik neba.

This one was pretty good, I can appreciate it for being influential at the time I would assume. It sounds like a lot of what I’ve heard, but maybe that’s because people created their own version of it? Nothing really stands out to me explicitly about any of these tracks, but as a whole, it was an entertaining lesson. I’d give it a three out of five, appreciating it for what it is.

Weird but good I guess. It’s very different. I’m torn between a 2 and 3 but there was nothing objectionable so a 3 it is.

Surprised that I liked this as much as I did. I went in with very low expectations, as most of the psychedlic rock bands ended up disappointing me with a ton of weird sounds and noise, trying to sound trippy or something. Love was much better, showing off a variety of musical styles and cohesiveness. 3/5

All of these mid sixties psychedelic era albums have 2-3 absolutely classic songs and a bunch of supremely dated acid hippie diddling.

Chill It kinda reminds me of the beatles somehow Good guitar solos

Never knew this. Not bad.

Chill and decent 60s folk baroque pop.

Didn't get a great feel for this on my first listen but my initial reaction was that it sounded like a poor man's Beatles group. Second listen also felt pretty meh though I enjoyed it more. Landed on 2.5 stars, but willing to go a low 3.

Loving the folk psychy sounds of this album. First two songs were great but then there were a few duds. Maybe the People Would Be the Times or Between Clark and Hilldale was a jam. Had a few good jams but also some duds. Really wanted to give this a 4 but don't think it earned it.

Kaksi ekaa toimivat aina. 3,5

It's okay.

For 60s psych, this was pretty good. Not perfect but it was OK. Listenable.

60s bard music. Some nice strings, but meh, just another 60s band. 3*

I've never heard of this band before. Right off the first track it seems like it was at the proto front of acoustic guitar based music. Perfect for those hippies to sing along to in california.

Started off with potential. Sounded from the era but like they were trying stuff others weren't and I appreciated the slight mix up, but about halfway through I got bored

bo però massa melós. m'agrada Love quan és aspre.

Really nothing special

Exceeded expectations. Overall it was good. Nothing totally stood out, but nothing to dislike.

Bought this as a teenager as I think Q magazine had called it one of the albums of the 60's. I tried very hard to like it but it never really connected. Listening again now I can appreciate the lushness of the arrangements and the psychedelic leanings.

Alone again.. Or . Top track, seven levels above anything else here. Nice instrumentation, but airy fairy vocals are trying.

It very much sounds like a product of the 60s. That being said, it was pretty good and definitely worth listening to.

Maybe I would’ve enjoyed more on another day but it wasn’t the vibe I wanted for cycling to work.

Inoffensive, just a bit dull

Why? Why do I think there are these stupid little hints, messages, and meanings that the universe drops? Why do I pay attention at all? Is it speaking to me, or is it just some impulsive manifestation of my own memories firing in rapid succession, tossing relentless volleys of feelings I'll never understand? Is this a breadcrumb from something bigger than me, or just a coincidence I’m way too eager to romanticize? Just this quiet little nudge that says "Hey, pay attention!" And it’s probably nothing. It’s probably just my brain playing connect-the-dots with things that don’t need to be connected. But I noticed, and it cracked open this big, raw space in my chest. And my soul. Maybe that’s all it is. The noticing. Maybe that’s what matters. Maybe it’s okay if I read too far into things. Maybe the magic isn't in the message at all - maybe it’s in the noticing. Change will happen whether I want it to or not. So maybe that’s the trick: nothing is permanent, but somehow, everything still matters. 365 ̷d̷a̷y̷s̷ albums. 1 year. To the ̷d̷a̷y̷ album.

Seems like Moody Blues and these guys had similar inspiration, vocally and with music composition. Off to the wiki’s….

There’s some good stuff and has a touch of humour that I love but doesn’t quite stick the landing. This is an album that I loved 6 or 7 years ago but by this point think is lacking a little.

Overall mediocre but some decent songs

This is okay but I don’t love it.

I actually think that there is potential in this band - maybe they are famous and there are more albums. It seems like there is something missing or misplaced to break through other great bands of 50/60s(?).

приятные такие, мелодичные

I liked the other Love album on this list better, but this is serviceable psych rock.

not a bad album, slight edge to Da Capo over this album though

This album was a good choice to listen to this morning. It was calming and peaceful. I'm a big fan of this style of music, so it was definitely up my alley, but to say it was one of the greatest albums of all times definitely seems out of place. Overall a good listen.

I was actually disappointed to hear the first song and realize that the Calexico song that I love is just a cover of this song... :( Still slaps though but I really miss the instrumental interlude with the claps I really enjoyed the instrumentation from a lot of the songs. I thought each song was pretty unique and had its own flavour. I wouldn't mind listening to it again, but I probably would never reach out for it on my own.

BEST SONGS: - A House Is Not A Motel - The Red Telephone - Maybe the People Would Be the Times or Between Clark and Hilldale

Solid soft rock music. The Spanish oriental style here and there is pretty cool. They should've done more with it

Previously rated: Da Capo (3/5) ******************** Hippie crap with some Classical Gas type guitar work. Barely a 3.

Don't think I've ever listened to them before, but it's definitely my vibe. All around okay!

"soft rock", kind of beatles-esque

Besser als ich erwartet habe. Hat mich jetzt nicht vom Hocker gehauen, aber überraschend gut. Waren schon ein paar sehr eingängige Songs dabei, auch wenn es nicht so meins war.

This was nice, very chill hippy style music and I quite liked just tapping my foot along to it.

Rock n Roll for lonely hobbits. 3

Typical for the time. Good but nothing mind blowing

In my memory it was even better...but still a good album!

This was good. I thought that the melodies and chords were kinda all over the place, but overall I did like it. A little too pop and not psychedelic enough, I think, but still good. Three stars.

I enjoyed this psychedelic adventure!

This was interesting. It had a 60s vibe and sound, but seemed a bit darker than a lot of the brighter stuff from the same time period. I very much enjoyed.

Pretty straightforward. I liked the horn sound on a couple tracks. The lyrics struck me as pretty corny a number of times. Just from a different time.

Another Beatles sound alike

Nada que destacar realmente 6.0

There are some interesting flourishes from time to time (Latin music, etc), but this is ultimately just competent musicians executing some fairly vanilla hippie rock with a bush league vocalist singing batshit lyrics.

Yeah, said, it's alright.

Good 69s folk rock. Nice addition for a playlist.

Great cover art. Yet... after seeing the art I expected different music style and more energy. It disappointed me. yawn

Ehh. Ok, nothing amazing

I’ll give it a three.

This is fairly lovely and gentle listening, and I'm glad to hear an album from this era that's unfamiliar to me, but the album didn't otherwise grab a hold of me. The guitar on the opening track is gorgeous and I love the arrangement on "Old Man". The vocal layering and rhythm on "Live and Let Live" stands out too.

Arrancó increíble y después se planchó onda te manda a dormir. Es un rock chill pero de los finales de los 60s, juega con las voces y tiene una vuelta de turca más. Me gustó bastante.

3.0 It was ok, some pretty good guitar tones for 1967

It grabbed me immediately because the first track is a song I've heard many, many times, only it's the cover version by The Damned. The rest of the album was ok, but not something I'd listen to again.

On Jojo Rabbit playlist, which I found cool. I enjoyed this music, a bit depressing sometimes but still upbeat.

Off the beaten path Folksy yet innovative Homely rock music

Nice enjoyable set of tunes.

This was some fairly nice old hippie rock. Opening track was a banger and whilst its not something ill go back to, i actively enjoyed it

I think this album by the band Love is simply a fine little listen, gosh darn it. Some silly little horns sections bring the spice and flair while the bocals have nice little melodies mixed in. 6/10

It’s like the soundtrack to a movie that I didn’t want to watch

Respect 3 star...

Sweet little psychedelic folk album. Maybe if I paid close attention to the lyrics I'd get some big political insight or something, but as it stands, I liked this more than what I've heard of Donovan so there's that.

6.5/10. Funky but too folky for my liking

I really don't like 60s music :/

Pretty enjoyable and new to me!

I was a little bored. 🥱 repetitive sound but then “maybe the people…” came on and it was such a standout I’m bumping it up!

On commence à avoir fait le tour des albums sortit en 1967, ils commence à sonner tous pareil. Je m’attendais à un peu plus de psychédélisme, c’est beaucoup plus soft et orchestral, donc I guess je suis surpris 😮😮😮

It's one of those albums that consistently gets plaudits but I can't really see past the first, of course brilliant, song. The rest of it plays out nicely without ever engaging.

A couple good, but a lot more underwhelming than I expected

Rise in the morning to the sound of a bright acoustic guitar and greet the bluebirds and hummingbirds. Then climb the hill on symphonic strings. Tie your hair into pigtails, and when you're done watching all the people die, float downstream on a current of lazy horns.

It's an okay album but has no great remarks for me.

I panned Da Capo because I felt the songs were too rambling, especially the 19-minute song on the back half of the album. I surmised the second Love album was the more essential one and I don't think I was entirely wrong. This is a much better album than Da Capo and there was no need for Love to have two albums on this list. Love could not resist and had to throw a 7-minute song as the closing track, though this was much more manageable than the 19-minute one from Da Capo. I did like the addition of the orchestration to many of the tracks, as it helped the (somewhat typical) 60's psych-folk stand out among a crowded list of psych-rock bands that are on this list. We did not need two Love albums, as this is the album I would have included. Knowing the background on Love and how the orchestration changed their sound isn't very essential for me to enjoy this band.

Good but unmemorable psych pop 7.7/10

Some of this I enjoyed, the first song I even liked. The rest was kind of a folksy in and out. Especially annoying when I find it's an American band. I enjoyed it more than yesterdays but it's getting ridiculous how many of these there are.

Once again, the '60s psych rock bug rears its head. We've had so many albums from this era, it's a bit tiring. But this one's pretty good, some interesting things going on here. Some unconventional instruments, clear acoustic guitar throughout. I like it. Favorite tracks: Andmoreagain, The Red Telephone, Maybe the People, The Good Humor Man. Album art: Fairly generic '60s fare, just some psychedelic faces mashed together. 3.5/5

I liked this better than the other Love album we listened to. I didn’t especially like the slower songs, but the upbeat ones were super mod and fun to listen to. 3.5/5

Thought it was pretty good

not a band from this era that i've really paid much attention to but this wasn't bad at all! i enjoyed! very warm and fun and 60s lol

It was okay. Didn't super resonate with me, but I didn't hate it.

“Alone Again Or” is a pretty good song. The rest is pretty generic 60’s British pop rock.

Not bad

Very 60s. Listenable and relatively enjoyable, but is it enough to push it into a 4? Probably not.

Never knew that Alone Again Or was by this band. All this time I thought The Damned wrote it. The original is very nice, but a bit of an adjustment. This record is so ‘60s, it’s almost laughable at times. The Red Telephone sounds like a parody. Overall, it’s cute. They tried. But it’s not something I am likely to revisit much. 3/5

It was ok

Lo escuché no hace mucho. Empezar con el "Alone again or" con esas guitarras, violines, el ritmo de la batería, trompeta la hacen una canción enorme.

This was alright I guess. I don't really care for the sound of this album even though some of the instrumentation is quite good here. Not something I will go back to in the future.

Mysigt! Men inte wow. Svag 4a eller stark 3a hmm
