I liked this a lot. I had never heard of it and it was a great surprise

Got so nostalgic about this one. They really were a great band for the time.

I've never heard of this band, but I sure do like it - I've already gone back and listened again twice. Personally I find that what this album lacks in instant memorability, it more than makes up for in how much I just dig it. The sound is both familiar and novel, a comfort that is deeply interesting and complex. This is one that took a little time to grow on me, but which absolutely demanded that extra time after the first listen. For that, it has earned a 5.

me encanto

Wow. I really enjoyed this album. I love noodly music with a soulfulness and great build-ups. This has all of that and a little more. I found myself repeating more than a couple of the songs shortly after it was over.

Technically brilliant, with the widdly and the noodly. Tonally approachable, sounding like a Snow Patrol or a Travis. Together at once is something I didn't know I needed to hear, but I'm very glad I did.

This album is excellent and I will revisit

Excellent album! Want to hear more from this band! 😊👍

El primer tema empieza de una manera que me gusta, se siente nostálgico inclusive para el 2011. Street joy te lleva a otro lado, realmente me parece precioso.

Fantastic

Wow. Just wow. I was familiar with these guys and had a couple of their times on random alt playlists. Always enjoyed them. This album? Leveled up. Fantastic from the get go.

Loved this album. Hadn’t heard of the band before, but I’ll definitely check out their other albums. Good guitar driven indie rock. Every song is good. Is And Is And Is stands out to me as well as the tracks Drug and River To Consider. But every song is good. Excellent album.

Might already be a bit biased towards White Denim but I love pretty much everything they've done - whatever James and co put their mind to, they can't do much wrong. Musical bliss.

What a great discovery! Psychedelic but super accessible

Super funky style

This album rocks! Great musicianship. Great songwriting, with interesting time signatures. I can see why people hear jam band sounds, but this music is too tight and composed for that moniker to work for me. At the very least, it doesn’t do it justice. I’d heard White Denim before, due to algorithms, but as is often the case in these scenarios I’d never really listened to the band before. It has been fun exploring their catalog.

First song started and I said thank god finally some abby shit. Love the album cover. SO GOOD. Drums go craaaaazy. Favorites: It's Him!, Back at the Farm, Anvil Everything

Good psychedelic stuff. 4.5 bumped up to 5.

I’m at a 5. I mean, normally I’m one to harp on lyrics, and I do think I got a decent chunk of them here, but… the lyrics really couldn’t matter less, for once. Some of them help to set up an emotional mood, but this is an album where they are wholly unnecessary. This is a southern psychedelic prog rock album, with instrumentals somehow reminiscent of Genesis, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Neil Young & The Beatles all at the same time, taking cues from the ‘60s & ‘70s era of rock whilst blending it with the indie sensibilities of a band like Cage the Elephant to create a vibe that’s undeniably cool as hell. You could literally listen to this for the full 37 minutes, not pick up a single lyric, and still be mesmerized by the musicianship at hand here – when this leans into its more prog-esque sensibilities, the guitar / drum work just pulls you in, but it’s equally as mesmerizing when the harmonies of the vocals hypnotize you on this album’s slower tracks. When this album hits on a perfect transition, it feels seamless, keeping up the energy in a way that feels like a live jam session. I honestly can’t think of many early 2010s rock albums that do transitions super effectively, so it’s really welcomed here. James Petralli and friends just know how to fucking rock out here, man. It’s an album where the music speaks for itself; yeah, the lyrics have some poignant moments (the immigration allegories of “Burnished”, the classist nature of “Street Joy” & “Bess St.”, the mysterious allure of “River to Consider” or “Keys”), but parsing those too deeply would take away from just vibing along & letting them take you for a ride. I’m pleasantly surprised this was as good as it was, and I’m very glad it’s on the list. It’s a really easy 5 for me, and I wanna listen to even more of these guys. Pretty damn good for an album with absolutely horrid SEO. (Seriously, just Google “D album”. It’s dire out here.)

Perfect album! Never heard it before. Thanks. On the other hand it looks like I have heard this before. The mix of T.Rex, Jethro Tull, Grateful Dead.

Good as fuck

I loved this! ’D’ was adventurous and kept my attention. I wonder if Improvement Movement was inspired by this album. At times I was reminded of indie rock essential artists like The Black Keys, Band of Horses, and Coldplay. I’m not super into jammy stuff, but I can appreciate artistry in almost every form, so no points taken off for that. I’m curious to hear how their music has progressed. Fave tracks: It’s Him!, Steet Joy, Bess St., Keys

what a pleasant surprise!

Here I thought this was going to be some British hip-hop act to humor for the sake of this list, but instead was my dream of what a band could be if I had practiced more.

2010s indie rock. Creative, tight melodies.

Instrumental impecable.

Super fun album. Indie rock with jazz/prog stylings and short song lengths. 4.5/5.0: Excellent

i was excited to finally get this album as ive liked everything ive heard from them before. while i was a bit disappointed it was an enjoyable album. its a high 4 but im rounding up

I’d never heard of them at all, but I’m inclined to give this 5 stars. There was not a single second I was bored or not enjoying it. I really like the way this sounds. I definitely want to explore more of their discography.

D- white Denim Good opener- it’s him has great drumming Released may 30th 2011 Members are- James Petralli (vocals, guitar), Greg Clifford (drums), Steven Terebecki (vocals, bass), Michael Hunter (keyboards) D is the fourth full-length studio album Indie rock Going to listen to this group more HOLY INSTRUMENT BREAK IN back at the form Overall loved this album

Prog rock influence

This album absolutely rocked. Super fun, energetic, and full of great instrumentals. 5/5.

Yes meets Tame Impala. A well constructed masterpiece. A lot of what I was thinking is better said in the Wikipedia section on for this album. This might be the best album I have listened to from the 2010s on this list. There are not many contenders and most of the albums from the 2010s onward have been hot shit but this is the kind of album that gives hope. Nearly 15 years later and I am still hoping that we can get back to making this kind of music. 10/10

Can’t believe I missed this one until today. What a fantastic album.

Day661 - theres lots of bands they kinda sound like and im diggin it. i yelled”tequila” on river to consider. what a fun album

Kind of proggy indie rock mixed with the non-boring elements of psychedelic. Catchy and different without trying too hard

Excellent album, a first for me, definitely a keeper

Really really good.

It's Him! - 5/5 Burnished - 5/5 At the Farm - 5/5 Street Joy - 4/5 Anvil Everything - 5/5 River to Consider - 5/5 Drug - 4/5 Bess St. - 4/5 Is and Is and Is - 5/5 Keys - 3/5 Average score: 4.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ upon seeing the album cover, i was convinced this would be really mid at best. boy was i sorely mistaken the musicianship is fuckin insane here. i listen to a bit of psych rock and prog from time to time (closest comparison I can think of to this is Ty Segall, maybe Thee Oh Sees and the like?), but this was nowhere near my music-listening radar after all. who knows how long it'd be til i discovered this on my own. i guess even a shitty album list like this one has some hidden gems

What is this? This is so good!

A really nice surprise. Reminded me of the black keys turn blue album. A bit classic rock, a bit prog and definitely a nice listen

First listen was in college and I loved white denim, their vocalist is smooth and they are all technically skilled, can move it

I didn't think I'd like this. Didn't really like it the first listen through. The more I listen to it, the more interesting it is. It is absolutely growing on me and it is a great album. Pitchfork: 6.8 Rolling Stone Top 500 Albums: n/a Best Songs Back at the Farm Street Joy River to Consider Bess St. Keys

My first exposure to White Denim but I really loved it! Gave me big Allman Bros vibes, others have said Grateful Dead/Phish which I can see, really fun, varied tracks that have a lot of interesting parts, love the occasional changes in time signatures… this is a perfect example of why I am working on this 1001 project - to find great new artists that I may have never found otherwise. Easy 5/5

Actually ended up going through this twice, I love the psychedelic, bluesy, new wave style this comes in

the title/band name/album cover combo did not pass the vibe check when i unveiled them and im kinda glad for it cuz i got to be fully shocked at how good this is HFJFHJFS like legit prob one of the best records ive gotten from the project that ive Never Heard Of Before. i expected some flash in the pan indie or garage rock and ig it is but it sets itself apart by packing the performances with colorful jam-band intricacy...while very few stretches could properly be called a Jam, there is a level of chops and creativity here that just constantly blew me away. combined with the incredibly warm, fuzzy production, i was just about in heaven for most of this. very very eager to revisit these winding, zippy, busy, yet wonderfully economical songs...comforting and exhilarating tbh! maybe i have a new band to check out!

Amazing, where was this when I was in college

Looking at the band name, and the cover, I really did not have any hopes going into this. What an album though! Some very interesting choices and ideas, but still with a bit of a folk vibe.

friends really like this

In my mid 20s this was in my top 5 albums ever. I’ve listened too many times to be objective. I love the trilogy of songs to start and I just don’t think there’s a skip in here (other than the last song). Drug, Bess St, Is and Is are all great. So glad this has made the list because these guys don’t get nearly enough credit.

4.5 - Great

Never heard of this band, but I'm happy to finally get something new and good to listen to. Varied and exciting, deserves to be on this list.

To be honest, I did not get the first couple of songs. Like, I was getting upset at what I was listening to. I was able to relax by the third song, and then the fourth and fifth song clicked for me. This is rad as hell. It's still super weird, especially the singer's voice. I think this is a sneaky great album. It's so complex and varied. It sounds like a soup of noise but also feels so thoughtfully constructed and masterfully executed. These guys are very clearly masters of their instruments and also either have impeccable timing or just have really great musical chemistry. I went back to listen to the first couple tracks that made me upset for some reason, and boy was that a silly opinion. I "accidentally" listened to the album multiple times. Also, it wasn't an accident. Favorite Song(s): Sweet Joy, Anvil Everything, Back at the Farm, Drug

Hoe ken ik deze band niet? Wat een giga originele plaat. Bijzondere invloeden die goed verwerkt worden.

Never heard of White Denim. This is fucking awesome, though. Solid modern psychedelia.

Great find on this list! This is a playful psychedelic prog rock album that has the right drive. The drums are great as are the flutes. It's just a jolly good listen that brings you in a good mood in this crazy world.

Who are these guys?! Dig it. What I like most about this music is the synergy between the guitars and drums. It has great energy. Really nice guitar and drum work. Great grooves and riffs but it took me a few listens to really sink my ears into it. Don't come to this expecting catchy little pop hooks. There's some nice harmonies happening with the vocals in a very low key kind of way that gives this a mostly mellow character. There's some great jazziness happening with these songs that keep me coming back. It's funny to me that Street Joy is their "hit" and it's probably the one I like the least. Can we get a guest appearance from a jazzy flute? (River to Consider). Any horns want in on this? (Bess St.) How about some Fiddle and shift gears into a Country Western beat to take us out? (Keys). Awesome Instrumentation! Great stuff! I'd like to hear more of their albums.

Not the White Denim album I would have chosen, but I’ll take it! Vastly underrated band. Check out their album Corsicana Lemonade.

I think this is a wickedly good album full of amazing guitar interplay, great jamming sections, and an overall great vibe. I remember seeing them live during this era and they were a force on stage for sure.

I actually really liked this - I might listen to them again

Never heard of this, let's go. First few seconds sound like what I would expect from the band's visuals. Really like this first song so far! I have no idea what they're saying but yey!! Again, with this second track it's really hard to tell what the hell he's singing about but damn do i love the instrumental. back at the farm is so much fun holy shit i was not expecting this! i thought this album would be a nice folk experience, this has surpassed all expectations. don't know what genre this would be though, psychedelic indie? it does remind me of the few grateful dead record i've heard so hey, good stuff. i'm having so much fun damn. right now the record's 3/3 and this next track is by far the most streamed so i'm feeling very excited! okkkkkkk. this was a complete mood change. street joy is good, and i'm sure i'll like it more once i read the lyrics. for now, i enjoyed it, but i do prefer the sound of those first three tracks. and the first few seconds of anvil everything tell me we're right back! i don't know what to say, i'm just really enjoying this. like seriously, this thing's rhythm is so much fun. and it really feels like watching a live jam session, so electrifying i have nothing to say about river to consider that i haven't said here before. i'm just really loving this. drugs is fun and enjoyable but maybe another one i'm not too in love with. for now. why have i not heard of this band. and in what ways should i change my life so that i do start hearing about more shit that sounds like this? yeah bess st. rocks is and is and is and is and is and is and is and is and is is amazing. possibly my favourite. which is saying something. the repitition. the vocal delivery. the build-ups. damn last track. this flew by. this one's nicer. the instrumental is still always there, always present, but it does feel quieter than previous tracks. sounds sweet. i just see a straw hat and a smile. lovely. this album was very different from what i expected. i had so much fun, my body just moved on its own. i really just don't have a lot to say. loved this. 5 stars. bye

Yeah I enjoyed this one Cool tones and rhythms. I liked the instrumental parts more than the vocals. A few times I felt like Tool cribbed off this band for some of their more psychedelic songs/breakdowns. a groovy listen

D's nuts

Have been a casual fan of this band for a while, but have really only listened to their album Stiff, especially the song Had 2 Know which was on a playlist I went through almost every day for a few months. Definitely check it out - great (catchy) song, fun album, and an all-time album cover art. I hadn't listened to this album much - it's a bit more psych and less accessible than Stiff, but cemented my opinion that these guys are a fantastic modern band. So much range in style - I'm hearing Neil Young at times, Vampire Weekend, or Paul Simon at others. As I was listening through this time, I thought these guys absolutely have to be an Austin-based band - feel like they just nail that southern psych sound. Maybe I just remember that from my subconscious - but sure enough they are! How cool would it be to bump into them playing in a random Rainey Street bar back in the day? 4.5 for me - not a perfect album - the psych sometimes teeters on incoherence - but the more I get familiar with this album, I'm totally sold. I've listened through three of their albums in the last day - D is probably the best, but tight race with Corsicana Lemonade. The killer guitarist on these two albums eventually leaves to go start Leon Bridge's band, so while the later stuff is fun, it lacks those great licks from the earlier stuff.

Fun as fuck.

имба, понравилось, сохранил. очень напомнило кинг гизард.

Fun catchy good vibes a project highlight

Didn't know what to expect. Didn't hate it at all!

Never heard of this band before, and it's another reason why I'm so glad I started into this endeavor. I'm buying what they're selling

This album is an absolute gem. The mixing is phenomenal, bringing every instrument to life with remarkable clarity. As a bassist, I was particularly drawn to how front-forward and articulate the basslines are—rich, dynamic, and an integral part of the band's overall sound. The interplay between the four musicians is seamless, almost poetic in how they complement each other. Their chemistry makes for an incredibly immersive listening experience. The vocals are solid, blending effortlessly into the instrumental tapestry, while the music itself is nothing short of mesmerizing. Sonically, the album sits at the crossroads of progressive rock and atmospheric soundscapes, sometimes reminiscent of Pink Floyd, yet firmly rooted in the post-Wolfmother era of the 2000s and 2010s. It captures a distinct energy that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly modern. Before this, I had never heard of this band, and I wasn’t expecting such a pleasant surprise. Listening to the album from start to finish was a revelation—it expanded my perspective on what rock music can be, even as someone with a deep knowledge of the genre. Without a doubt, this was one of the best surprises I’ve come across in the 1001 Album Generator journey.

Crazy how this album cover looks AI generated. But came out in 2011

Great album. Don't know how these guys haven't been on my radar.

Don't think I've ever heard anything by white denim, think I'd dismissed them a bit cos the name is pretty dull. They play quite a straightforward indie at first listen but seemingly through being class at their instruments take the songs into loads of interesting places. A few time signature changes too. There was a vampire weekendy song and a sort of musey/radioheady song (anvil everything, probably my favourite). Was almost all good though. Definitely listening again, 4.5. I think.

I've never heard of these guys before. I freaking loved this.

Oh lordy! '60s psychedelia with some '70s prog but they pack this in with tight songs that never outstay their welcome. Listeners get to play Spot The Influence. On my first listening I heard flutes on a song that sounded like Jethro Tull. On another I heard Neil Young play guitar on a song that could have come that Canadian God. This is so much fun!!!

Surprisingly good. Experimental with Lots of different genres

Zero knowledge of this band nor what to expect led to ... !!!!?!!!! <--- my reaction throughout the entire album. Complex, melodic, sorta jam-like but thankfully not at all. Well-thought-out killer riffs, a bit of time signature hopping, a small dose of Allmans, a little prog, a little fusion..."Bess St." even gives me classic Yes vibes - what the hell IS this??? Oh and flute on "River to Consider" heck yes. I'm actually glad it's only 36 minutes - not in a "this album sucks" way at all but I'm almost just overwhelmed. This is a keeper and I feel like I haven't even scratched the surface of this album or band. Will be listening a ton this week. Honestly fantastic. Amazing to hear such musical talent. 9/10 5 stars

This sounds like it could have been released in the 60s. If it was, I wouldn't have liked it. But since it was released more recently, I like it? Even though it sounds exactly like something from that era? Why am I like this?

What a great surprise! I’ll definitely need to put these guys on regular rotation

Wow, this was really good. Vibes for days. I can't wait to dig in to their other albums.

A very pleasing album. I hope I enjoy it as much on a second listen.

Now this is what I signed up for! All of the weird technical intricacies of Yes but with almost Beatleque abilities to write a tune. Jazzy, proggy, psychedelic dad rock for the 21st century. Almost makes this generator worth while.

Damn, I loved that! Never heard of them before, but I want more of this!

Wow.

This was definitely a great discovery. It’s impossible to decide if you want to call it indie rock, progressive, or psychedelic because it straddles the border between all three of them perfectly. The prog rock side brings out great elements of some jazzier sections with intricate arrangements as they seamlessly blend multiple genres or fade from one to another within one song. I’m really looking forward to checking out more of this band’s catalog.

Realistically this would be a 4.5, but I enjoyed it so much a 5 seems fair. What a gorgeous album. Reminds me of a scaled back King Gizzard at times, and an unhinged Cage The Elephant at others. Beautiful.

This is some great indie rock. I will be checking out more from them as it hits right where I like it.

Never heard of the band, but they ROCK! Great album from start to finish

we are so back. this was a joy to listen to!

The Deadhead in your life’s new favorite album.

Ooooo. Love me some WD. Even though the name makes me think of Andrew WK. I'm always surprised to see any indie rock on this list. But they definitely kick it up a bunch of notches. They got me right in their tight worn-down pocket.

Incredible transitions, constant instrumental interest, psychodelic while still being approachable, Terrific album.

HL: "It's Him", “Anvil Everything”, "Street Joy", "Bess St", "Keys" I don't know what I expected going into this proggy folky garage album, but the whole really is greater than the sum of its parts here. After not being sold on Live/Dead (1969) recently, the comparisons to the Grateful Dead that this album received had me a little gun-shy. Yet its sun-soaked joie de vivre and indulgent, arty noodling made a surprisingly addictive blend. May 12, 2024

I was so judgemental and dismissive on first sight of this album. I was more than prepared to write this off as more crap music that nobody has ever heard of that got chosen because the UK list-makers do not have an appropriate barometer for impactful North American music. BUT, and it is a big butt a-thankyoouuu, this has smashed all of my preconceived judgements and shattered my uppity disparaging attitude. I LOVE this! I've looped this record 5 times now today because it's so very enjoyable. I love the sound, I love the instrumentation, I love the vocals and the overall vibes. This is a spectacular little gem that I am truly digging. I've never been so happy to be completely dead wrong in all my life. Despite my propensity to stain, I shall indeed don my finest white denim and join this fucking party. Right on, man.

yet another band i haven't heard of til now with an INSANELY great sound. what happens when you take a typical prog band and take it all the way to the bottom of the states? you get an incredibly sounding collection of impeccable moving and windy rock songs, that's what. this is like... canyon prog. desert prog. dusty prog. does that make sense?

Oi by the way Back at the Farm might be one of the greatest songs I've heard out of this entire fucking list. COTDAM it's goin off on this uber home YAOW. Good lordy get lost that's a big tune.

очень приятные треки с сбывффвостью вот прям с ней алкоальбом: хайболл

One of my favorite albums. Super melodic voyages. I could listen to this one over and over

This is a really great record. Tons of variety and changes to keep things interesting, killer rhythm section work, just overall a really great feeling from listening to this. At The Farm is crazy. It’s like the members of Led Zeppelin doing a Grateful Dead cover band Really I couldn't have been more impressed with this record. It was a huge surprise as I'd never heard anything about this band before.

Had never heard of them and I loved their sound and song lyrics. Always love hearing a band or individual I’m not heard and enjoy listening too!!

This was a nice discovery. Thanks again, Alex, for the generator!

An updated psychedelic 60s sound for the 10s, this has lots to enjoy, this album gets better and better. Definitely one I could see myself listening to a few more times and enjoying more and more.

I was not expecting this to be as fun as it was. Totally caught me off guard. The grooves, the vocals, the production: everything is on point. I can't find anything to ding it for so it's getting full marks.

Very good modern rock album

Fun! At times a little moody and other times a little tropical? Good variety but still a cohesive album.

I loved it❤️

incredible all the way through. hints of king gizzard, fun., the monkees - but still pretty distinct. never heard of them before this but already listening to another album of theirs

can’t believe this album wasn’t made in the 70s - 10/10

LOVE!!

Did not let you off the rollercoaster once. Frenzied but controlled. Played with tempo and dynamics incredibly well.

You know what to expect from an Austin country-psych-jam outfit. This is simply a perfectly-wrapped package of it. The production does heavy lifting: The sound is full without ever feeling heavy. Lyrics allusive enough to skate by; The sound's the main attraction, which is to say all playing's killer, never mathy.

Never even heard of them before but this is some quality rock and roll. Thanks generator!

I liked this way more than I expected from the album artwork. I could’ve done without the flute, but otherwise this was right up my alley. I think I have a new favorite band. Favorite track: Is and Is and Is

Des fois on met un 5 car la surprise est trop grande par rapport à l'attente. J'ai vraiment aimé l'album. Genre de psychédélique, rock, il y a un peu de tout et c,est bien fait. Vraiment une decouverte !

This blew my expectations out of the water. Wonderful jamming, easy to listen to yet interesting. It’s noodling that’s actually good! Bravo. This slaps.

Hoe goed zijn die drummer en bassist!! Maar ook de rest van de band mag er wezen. Heel genietbaar album, en weer een absolute verrassing!

Can’t believe I had never heard of this. I listened to a ton of indie/alternative radio in 2011-14 and never heard is this group. Truly a failing of the machine. I have also hated any psychedelic album that’s come up but this is an easy 5er for me.

Never heard of this band or album but I really loved it. Like if the Dead were good at math and composition and also from 21st century Texas

I’d never heard of White Denim before, but they sound exactly how I’d imagine an Austin-based indie band to sound, so I’m not disappointed. They remind me of the Black Keys from the get go in the opening track, and their psychedelic blues continue to dominate for the rest of the album. That isn’t to say that the album is stylistically straightforward, though. “Street Joy” gives us an introspective pop fit for the mid-2010s, while “River to Consider” clearly draws influence from far beyond the Texas Hill Country. “Bess St” sounds more like Dan Auerbach on vocals than any other song on the record, and just as the Black Keys have maintained a relatively steady style and demeanor over the past 20 years, it feels like this album could have been released any time since the turn of the century. Some further investigation after finishing the album led to their cover of “Just Dropped In,” originally by Kenny Rogers and the First Edition. They do an immaculate job, making enough adjustments to make the performance their own but keeping the melody true enough to the original to pay respect to the original. They apparently covered the Big Lebowski soundtrack classic for the TV version of Fargo. If these guys can make the Austin music scene proud with their psychedelic blues and fanboy for the Coen Brothers too, I have to give them five stars. The groove abides.

Awesome

Very unique album with lots of character and fun songs. Indie with strong guitar and interesting instrument solos

What a great fun album. It's Him grabs you from the very beginning. Back at the Farm is my absolute favourite. Street Joy seems to be popular and I can see why. Looking forward to hearing this again.

NEW FAVORITE BAND

Actually liked this one more than I thought I would

I really enjoyed this one. Is and is and is was probably my favorite song.

Sneaky 5, jammy bluesey rock, very precisely targeted to what I like

Truly wonderful album. I try and save the 5stats but this is deserving. No skips, all iterating concepts and a revelation of indietween

Impressive album

A great find! Loved it

especially enjoyed street joy. to me this album has a nostalgic sound of 17 to me. almost indie rock but with a certain psychedelic influence i appreciate

Hey - not bad! I listened to the whole thing. The length of it was just right, not too long. I listened to a few other songs go theres and one popped up that was really good ... it was 'Street Joy' from this album. so up goes the star count.

This was a very cool rock album. A surprise from a band I have never heard of before.

Interesting!

21/06/2026 I have had a bad run recently. I accept this to be a turn in fate. Slightly better. Spotify listeners: 168.2k

Massively talented group and varied album, enjoyed

White Denim are getting a pleasently surprised low 4, never heard them before but the futher in the album went the more i enjoyed it

Glad to have learned about this band, hadn't heard of them before and am interested in checking out more of their music.

That was pretty good! Going to give it another listen some time. Austin, Texas does seem to be the birthplace of some interesting psychedelic music like this band and The 13th Floor Elevators.

Not bad! I have never heard of this band but it’s nice. I like the combination of psychedelia and prog rock influences. But sometimes it’s too obvious where the ideas originated from.

Almost like a proggy Allman Brothers sometimes..

Muy buenisimo me encanto

Loved it. Very math-rocky at times which greatly appeases my ears.

When I first started this album I was pretty indifferent about the first three tracks. Then Street Joy came on and it was like a switch was flipped. That song sounded like a lost Pink Floyd track that had just come to light. Great song! Then Anvil Song came on with its insistent drumming which made me think of prog rock bands of the past like Yes or Rush. Strong drumming continues in River to Consider along with some fantastic flute soloing (did NOT see that coming) After Street Joy, Bess St. is the other track that really grabbed me. The chord changes near the end remind me of something you'd hear in an up tempo free jazz chart. This smoothly transitions into the jangly guitar accompanied by a very busy bassline in Is and Is and Is -- another great song. I got a second and third listening in on this album and some of the other songs are starting to grow on me. I'm excited that this band is now on my radar and looking forward to exploring more!

This is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping to find with this project. Newerish music that I hadn't heard before but is really good.

This was a breath of fresh air. What a great jazz-influenced rock sound with high quality jangly guitars throughout. No standout track in particular - I enjoyed it as a whole. Would definitely listen to more.

Super kraam. Math Rock? Psychedelic Rock? Mõlemat ja ka Riff Rocki juurde. Meeldejäävad ja catchyd käigud, hea pillimäng ja head vokaalid. Lege album, mis on vast viimase kümnendi rokki palju mõjutanud. 4.2/5

Jaming. Upbeat. Could go on forever.

solid jam band

They really like hiding the 1 don't they. Very good little jammy album. Not what I go for to listen to typically but definitely a good addition to the throw this on if I've got nothing else to listen to list. Very black keys but less annoying.

A little eclectic and different. I enjoyed it, would listen again.

4/5, erg positief verrast door deze mij compleet onbekende plaat

Rating: 4.4/5 Short Review: Restless, technical, and bursting with energy. It constantly shifts directions but somehow keeps its momentum. Feels like a band trying every idea they have before the room catches fire. Favorite Track: “It’s Him!” Jittery, groovy, and completely alive. Feels like controlled musical chaos.

I enjoyed this. Some 70’s throwback element with modern indie/rock mixed in, like Allman Bros. meets Radiohead. Would listen again.

This is nice. I can't describe math rock, but I know it when I hear it, and the math rock jams were really nice in this album.

hey cool. i didn't know white denim or this album prior to this. it's got to be most of the most sonically diverse pulls we've had recently, which is cool. "Street Joy" is probably my favorite.

I think White Denim is such an excellent example of a modern band doing unique and tasteful twists on classic rock and blues sounds. Every song on this album explores that a bit more, and I highly recommend catching them live!

Enjoyed this! Didn't recognise any of it but it has a familiar feel. Good sounds, easy to listen to.

Приятный такой инди рок, хотя честно я уже заебалась на этом сайте слушать один рок, я вообще фанат метала. Но это идеально подойдет на фон в хиппарскую кафешку, а я люблю такое, миленько.

Quite good honestly surprising

Like Radiohead meets Black Keys meets psychedelic rock, I dig it

This is a solid rock album, but it's not the rock we all know, but a more pop one. Some songs are damn cool. "Back at the farm" it's my favourite, but also "Is and Is and Is"

Very cool, funky album. Some of these tracks are going on regular rotation.

nice short album; more of a 3.8 stars for me. it's nice and catchy while still making an impact with rhetorical words no matter how calm they might seem—one of my favorite combinations.

Ok so much of this RIPS! It does dip into bulk-standard rock from time to time but so much of this hits that I have to appreciate it. 4/5

Cool album. Really musical, yet approachable. Prog rock-y without straying from catchy and listenable.

Grew and grew on me.

Actually pretty solid and a fun album.

I haven't given these guys enough of a listen. This album was solid all the way through. Nothing really jumped out at me as great, but all the songs were at least good and the flow between the songs is actually pretty great. The melodies and musicianship highlighted throughout really capitivated me. Overall, a really solid little indie rock album. Definitely going to listen to again

I really like instrumentals, varied and consistently interesting. Black Keys-ish at times, indie or psych at others. I need to listen to it again.

How did I not know about this band? I’m sure if I had discovered them in 2011 I would have been obsessed. As it is it has a nostalgic sound without me ever having heard them before.

This album is such a time capsule for me back to 2011 - brings back a particular place and time so clearly. Anyway, back to my review: I enjoy their blender approach. There’s late 60s - early 70s classic rock combined with 2010’s indie which is definitely my wheelhouse. Prog Rock, The Birds, The Dead.. mixed up with modern influences like the Black Keyes. Who lean heavily into blues. I’ll give this a 4. I’ve decided that my rating system is this: 1: Couldn’t get through 2 songs 2. Couldn’t complete the album or it made me mad 3: Not memorable or no interest in hearing it again 4: I liked it, worth another listen. Saved a few songs to my library 5: Evangelist. Everyone I know needs to hear about it

Leonard Cohen vocal moves Grateful Dead, in service to a different vision, rooted in a different reality Psychedelia like dust floating in the stuffy attic in summer--quite lovely The prog rock connections escape me A touch of David Bowie's dreamy saxophone solos A promising debut A touch of the Black Keys in the vocals Devendra Banhart, Iron & Wine, and the San Francisco scene of the Oughties Thank you for this recommendation! I'm listening to their subsequent album, and enjoying myself thoroughly! I know I've come to you with some stormy feels about some of your other selections--but this one reinvigorates my commitment to this rich and engaging project!

# In-Depth Review: *D* by White Denim (2011) ## Overview Released on May 24, 2011, *D* represents a pivotal moment for Austin, Texas band White Denim. Following their 2009 album *Fits*, the group expanded from a power trio to a four-piece with the addition of second guitarist Austin Jenkins and embraced a more sophisticated studio environment. The result is an album that AllMusic calls "a masterpiece" and one that landed at #4 on *Uncut* magazine's Top 50 albums of 2011 . --- ## Production & Sound The most immediate shift on *D* is the production quality. Where previous albums were recorded in a trailer with lo-fi equipment, *D* was crafted in a proper studio with access to better gear. According to frontman James Petralli, this change "brought out different performances" and allowed the band to hear everything "much more clearly" . The production retains White Denim's raw energy while adding layers previously unavailable: occasional flute solos, dreamy string arrangements, and a "warmer, acoustic spirit" . The album was recorded at *Radio Milk* in Austin, and the band utilized the improved environment to create what *Rolling Stone* described as "math-boogie"—a fusion of "psychedelia, hard blues, boogie, prog rock and fusion riffs" . Critics noted that despite the studio polish, the band's "muscular interplay" remained intact. Bassist Steve Terebecki and drummer Josh Block were praised as "one of the most badass rhythm sections this side of Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding" . --- ## Musical Style & Composition *D* is defined by its restless genre-hopping and technical precision: - **"It's Him!"** and **"Burnished"** open the album with driving drums, dual guitars, and warm melodies that establish the template - **"Back at the Farm"** serves as the album's standout instrumental track, featuring a "crescendoing guitar workout" - **"Street Joy"** offers a slower tempo breather with country-soul sensibilities reminiscent of My Morning Jacket's Jim James - **"River to Consider"** incorporates Jethro Tull-style flute, creating a "Magical Mystery Tour psychedelia" vibe - **"Drug"** blends raw groove with "Summer of Love lyrics" and was the album's explosive single - **"Anvil Everything"** showcases whirling prog elements and wry psychedelic haze The album's structure is deliberately dynamic—hectic, pin-sharp jams alternate with prettier, more contemplative moments. The band's ability to pivot quickly between time signatures and instrumental passages without losing coherence is one of *D*'s defining characteristics. --- ## Lyrics & Themes While White Denim has never been a primarily lyric-focused band, *D* contains several thematic threads: **Social Commentary & Class:** - **"Burnished"** contains immigration allegories - **"Street Joy"** and **"Bess St."** explore classist themes and economic disparity **Mystery & Atmosphere:** - **"River to Consider"** and **"Keys"** carry a "mysterious allure" - The lyrics often serve more to establish emotional mood than to convey explicit narratives **Lyrical Approach:** James Petralli has noted that the band tries "not to over-intellectualize anything," but that their music is "also a representation of who we are as people" . The vocals on *D* are often dreamy and washed-out, functioning as another instrumental layer rather than a focal point. As one reviewer noted, "the lyrics really couldn't matter less, for once"—the album succeeds on musicianship and vibe . --- ## Critical Reception & Influence *D* received widespread critical acclaim upon release: | Publication | Ranking/Score | |-------------|---------------| | *Uncut* | #4 Top 50 Albums of 2011 | | *Mojo* | #6 Albums of 2011 | | *NME* | #37 Albums of 2011 | | *Rolling Stone* | #46 Albums of 2011 | | Metacritic | Generally favorable | The album was also included in the book *1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die* . ### Influence *D* helped establish White Denim as more than just garage-rock upstarts. The album demonstrated that "jam band" aesthetics could be executed with punk precision and indie sensibility. It influenced a generation of bands seeking to merge technical proficiency with accessible songwriting. The album's fusion of 1970s Americana, prog, and post-hardcore created a template for "math-boogie" that remained influential throughout the 2010s. --- ## Pros & Cons ### **Pros** | Aspect | Details | |--------|---------| | **Musicianship** | Virtuosic playing from all members; the rhythm section is particularly exceptional | | **Genre Fusion** | Seamlessly blends psych, prog, blues, country-soul, and post-hardcore | | **Production Balance** | Achieves the rare feat of studio polish without sacrificing raw energy | | **Song Dynamics** | Expert pacing between frenetic jams and contemplative slower tracks | | **Instrumental Tracks** | "Back at the Farm" and others prove the band can captivate without vocals | | **Replayability** | Dense arrangements reward repeated listens; new details emerge with each play | ### **Cons** | Aspect | Details | |--------|---------| | **Vocal Intelligibility** | Lyrics are often washed out in the mix, making them difficult to parse | | **Accessibility** | The restless genre-shifting and complex time signatures may alienate casual listeners | | **Jam Band Associations** | Some listeners find the extended instrumental passages too close to Phish/Grateful Dead territory for comfort | | **Production Density** | Some critics felt the mix "smushed everything together into one indecipherable clump" | | **SEO Problem** | The single-letter title makes the album nearly impossible to search for digitally | --- ## Conclusion *D* stands as White Denim's breakthrough achievement—a album that successfully bridges the gap between technical prog-rock and accessible indie rock. While it may not be for everyone (those seeking straightforward songwriting or prominent vocals may struggle with it), the album represents a high-water mark for 2010s American rock music. Its inclusion in *1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die* is justified: *D* is a masterclass in musicianship, production balance, and adventurous songwriting that continues to reveal new depths over a decade after its release. For fans of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Thee Oh Sees, Tame Impala, or anyone seeking rock music that prioritizes instrumental interplay and dynamic composition, *D* remains essential listening.

I dug this! Not sure why it's on this list in particular but super pleasant and fun listening.

This was actually way better than I was expecting. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect, but given the album cover, the band name and the album name ("D", what a stupid boring name) I didn't have high hopes. But really, this was quite interesting! Just a really fun listen, and very catchy. I liked the bluesy and psychedelic elements, and there were some great fuzzy riffs throughout.

Indie/garage rock, with an atmospheric, bluesy bent. Nice noodling sound around good baselines in Burnished. But not mind-blowing. Burnished into Back at the Farm is a good transition. Nice instrumentals and improvs in Back at the Farm Ooh, the experimental and improv ramps up, c.f. River to Consider Best track - Burnished, Back at the Farm, Anvil Everything, River to Consider 4 stars - it's a grower but there's plenty here to come back to

I quite enjoyed this. First time I’ve heard of the band. Marking a 4 to encourage relisten. 4/5

What a surprise to find this album on this list. A pleasant surprise! It was great to revisit an album of my lost youth. Hazy memories of seeing this band in a tiny local venue, entranced by all the musicians going off in their own different directions yet coalescing into some audible cacophony that brought reactions out of the entire crowd. I think J Mascis was there. That should say something, because he doesn't go anywhere he doesn't think is worthy of his presence! Anyway, I believe that experience describes my reaction to this album as well. What a creative cauldron of sounds. "Drug" is my favorite track off the album, but "River to Consider" was the standout here, especially from someone who doesn't enjoy the appearance of the flute at anytime on any record.

Fun. An interesting combination of indie styles, prog virtuosity and time signatures and funk grooves. Nothing really stuck in my mind in terms of melodies or similar - it's pleasant rather than memorable. In places it's a bit Vampire Weekend, in places a bit Zappa. A low 4.

A jam band in 2011? I would have told you, you were several decades too late for that to be enjoyable, but that was before I heard this album. This is really good and has notes of the standard Jazz, Rock and Prog and adds in a memory of Neutral Milk Hotel and psychedelic folk. Very well crafted and easier to listen to than most jam band style recordings. Every song and every verse has something new to keep your mind busy. Fabulous.

I don't think I've heard anything like this before. White Denim kinda sounds like a Southern Radiohead. That can be especially heard on "Anvil Everything" and "It's Him". I didn't expect "D" to be that good, thinking it would be a 3-star at best. The second track blew that expectation away. 4 stars for "D".

nice surprise with this one. A few different musical styles

You know how sometimes your friend tells you “you gotta hear this record” and so you listen, and you hear a lot of things you like, but you keep wondering what made them like it so passionately? This album is one of those albums. I do like it. I’ll listen to it again. It does a lot of things really well. But then, at the same time, nothing specific stands out. I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt on the rating, though, because I’ll definitely revisit it.

The Grateful Dead teases on album are great. I didn’t know or expect anything from this band. I found myself really digging this album and loving the jams

never heard of this band despite it being relatively modern and the prime of my music discovery window. regardless, i really liked the sound. I usually don't like garage rock but there was something different about this.

No filler here - the relatively short length breezed by with some lovely tunes.

Surprisingly fun

Denim fan in general

Solid rock

> the Beatles

Quite good, Back at the Farm is 5 stars outstanding - well constructed and impeccably executed. some shades of Mahavishnu Orchestra in there. 4.1

So good!! These guys are smooth, bluesy, technical but controlled, and so enjoyable. I’ll be returning to some of these tracks for sure. It fits into that 2010s indie folk/rock vibe but lands at a much higher level than what was popular in that category at the time.

I accidentally listened to it twice, but I'm not mad. I think it's really good. I'm not entirely sure I'll seek out their other work, but I might if I'm in a certain mood. I'd never heard of them before and I really enjoyed this, so I'm glad it popped up today. 3.5 stars.

Back in the day I bought the first two White Denim records and enjoyed them plenty but not enough to prevent me being distracted by some other shiny object and going no further. So it should have come as no surprise when I found out yesterday that it was their third record that was considered their crowning glory, worthy of a spot on the list. Serious chops, fully-rounded sound, and tight tunes. I wonder what else they’ve done…

Really enjoyed this one! Kinda Black Keys, meshed with a bunch of other bands. Pretty solid.

cool discovery honest. Today´s bird: White-headed Duck

An enjoyable listen for newer traditional style Rock music. I enjoyed what I heard and even caught myself just moving intuitively to the music a few times. I can’t say that any one song really sticks out in my mind as a memorable tune, but all of them were good enough to leave a positive impression on me. I might have to go back and give this one another listen at some point.

A very pleasant surprise, knowing nothing about it pre-listen!

Liked this more than I thought I would. Robust, sturdy musicianship in the same vein as Allman Brothers; it’s like if psych rock, southern rock, and garage rock had a sprawling but concise baby. The rhythm section really holds it down. Has some lighter moments to breathe that lean indie, like “Street Joy”. One foot in the present day (well, 2011, but you know what I mean) and the other squarely in the 1970s. Will definitely revisit.

Good record if you're in the mood to get bedudelt.

surprisingly good. never heard of before

A lot to like as a blend of different genres of rock. When it comes together, it works really well but there are times where it doesn’t quite work for me. I will definitely revisit this album and may check out other stuff as I’ve never heard of this band before. Definitely a good surprise.

I liked this one. Had some early 70ish jam band feels to it.

4.5 definitely worth another listen

Really cool album, somehow feels like an alt rock jam band? My guess is that live these songs are expanded with long solos, etc. On first listen sits at a 3.5, but bumping.

Sounded a lot older than it is. The blend of instruments (particularly the guitar) was really nice. Enjoyed more than I though

This album was awesome. It had highs and lows emotionally. I really like the vocalist. Everything here was very entertaining and well done. I liked how it was Indie AND psychedelic. Liked Songs: "It's Him!" , "Burnished" , "Back at the Farm" , "Street Joy" , "Anvil Everything" , "River to Consider" , "Drug" , "Bess St." , "Is and Is and Is"

This is a pretty unusual album. I have to say I enjoyed it. Probably worth another listen also

Slight Bon Iver vibes. We enjoyed this quite a bit, and we'd listen to it again.

i saw them open for someone, not sure. i remember it being enjoyable enough. i do not remember it being so proggy and eclectic. a good mix of genres happening. can see it appealing to the jam band crowd and the indie crowd alike. vocalist has a ty segal vibe, or maybe it's vice versa? good stuff.

How come I never heard of this Band until today? Great Album.

A great discovery, I always had in my head they were some lame indie band but definitely not the case. Will be at their next London show for sure

Very cool psychedelic jangle pop with pace and some muscle behind it. Never heard of this band, but really enjoyed this. Good stuff!

This is a very well made album - I enjoyed the frenetic pacing throughout, as well as the smooth transitions. Only thing holding this back from 5 stars are the multiple occasions in which the pace is too frenetic, leading to this album sounding more like noise and less like music

An enjoyable listen from a band that had passed me by. Some killer riffs and upbeat songs draw you in to this album that has quite a lot of different styles. It does get a little too Americana in places but doesn’t drag.

Saw these guys live before ever listening to an album. They were super impressive musicians, the bass player blew me away particularly. Kinda shows in album format that technicality and musicianship is to the forefront and better than the actual songwriting, and occasionally overwhelmingly so. That being said, psych rock jam stuff is my bag, so it’s a great listen (Back at the Farm can rival any 70s rock band).

Some good ol’ Americana Indie. Loved the diverse instrumentation on this album. The singer reminded me of Unknown Mortal Orchestra or Broken Social Scene. 4.5

I had never heard of this band, but it seems like I should've because it would've been right up my alley back in the early 2010s. Very interesting blend of genres, and very cool guitar work, and jazzy drums. Sometimes leans a little bit 'jammy' for my taste. The vocals are nice and draw you in. Standout songs: Street Joy and Keys.

Really enjoyed this. Comes across to me as Portugal, the Man meets Meat Puppets. Street Joy and Keys nicely break up the more intense tracks like Back at the Farm or Anvil. Good mix as well imo.

I actually enjoyed this one!

I was surprised by this. The name made me expect some basic Americana garbage, and what I got was actually some decent indie music with some really good drumming.... Some might think it "jangly" and I would understand, but it hit a Bill Dolan / Heroic Doses kind of vibe and I'm here for it.

Really liked this, was a nice surprise. I had never heard of these dudes. Will revisit and take a deeper dive.

Whoa, great album. Clearly I’ve mistakenly overlooked this band, but will be revisiting this and checking out some of their other stuff as well. Good song writing and very strong skills going on here

Quite solid. Will have to check out more of this guys and maybe see them live in June. 3.75

I see “jam band” in the description and my butthole clenches. But this was an awesome surprise. Score may improve with future listenings. Nice to see a contemporary artist on the list that I actually enjoy and can see live. Back at the Farm is the type of jam banding I want my jam band to jam. 3.75/5

This was right on the edge of 3-4. I like the sound for the most part. I think if I listened to it a few times, I would really like it. It's a mix of a lot of genres that I don't like; jam band, garage rock, psychedelia, but overall it kind of works.

Overall I liked listening to this album but nothing really stood out to me.

I feel like if Pink Floyd had gone through the 00s indie landfill era and come out the other side, they would have sounded like this. (Side note, I’m like 170 albums into this and I haven’t had a single Pink Floyd album, where the hell are they??)

This was actually way better than I thought it would be. Great guitar playing. Not the most memorable songs, but good for this era.

Yeah it's okay

Banger

Pretty surprised ive never heard of this band before since it fits in perfectly with all the other 2010s indie music i listened to. His voice reminds me of Bombay Bicycle Club <3

Spesielt fan av "Back at the Farm" låten, minner meg om King Gizzard. 4/5

Never heard of these guys, but this was a great listen. Pure fun.

Pleasantly surprised by this one. Great tones and performances all around. Fantastic prog-y sections that really showcase the talent of the members. Extremely tight, yet atmospheric. Enjoyed this one throughly. 4.2/5.0

Nice album and really well executed.

Solid western, math, progressive rock mix. Will reinvestigate these freaks

Listening to this album is time traveling. A portal to late 60s. It has a weird turn in the production that makes you know that you’re still in the XXI century. Loved the voices and psychedelic arrangements. It always has a thing here or there that catches your attention. Great discovery!

Cool record!

Some very interesting concepts on this album, and some very solid songs, one I’ll be revisiting a bit I feel

These guys had their DNA stolen by King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard.

An interesting listen. Solid jam band. Thoroughly enjoyed some of the more intricate pieces and instrumentals. The more poppy video tracks were less engaging. Worth a second look.

I was enjoying this album and then the pan flute showed up! Solid 4 stars, what a fun discovery!

I thought it was going to be standard 2010s indie garbage but I hit track three and it took a gorgeous turn into a bluesy, psychedelic, jammy ride. There were still moments of indie garbage, but this is a really fun genre bending experience.

Sweet as hell. I was surprised to see White Denim in this list, but just as surprised it was this album. I personally prefer "Performance" from 2018. Still solid sound.

New to me and totally awesome. Jam band adjacent, or maybe not? Dunno, just enjoyed the sound. I'll revsisit for sure.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a White Denim record on this list. They are able to recreate a modern version of 70s rock mixed with jam band appeal and make it super listenable.

Never heard of this prior, I enjoyed it! Fairly unique, haven’t heard a fusion like this too often, especially not from 2011. Pretty cool find.

I have never heard of this band before and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this!

Really good album - sounds a bit like the Black Keys...

Good stuff, a band I always mean to listen to more

That was pretty decent. Never heard of these dudes but expected some shite country music but was happily proved wrong

Absolutely class, spun this multiple times, trying my best not to get obsessed lol

Enjoyed it!

Quite good. Liked it.

Some nice solid rock tracks with some more chill tunes sprinkled in

Enjoyable modern indie rock.

Sounded a little like The Black Keys, which I really liked. I'll probably relisten to this, its cool.

Never heard of this band before and wasn’t expecting much when I looked at the genre. However, I was surprised by how much I liked it.

This was a nice surprise. Never heard of White Denim but enjoyed this a lot, decent amount of variety from track to track and a refreshing sound for 10’s indie.

I liked this. Steely Dan or Jethro Tull vibes which is weird since 2011. Daniel liked it too

This was pretty cool. Never heard of these guys before, and was impressed. Liked the high energy.

seeing post-2010 indie-adjacent albums on this list always makes me nervous….but i actually really enjoyed this one!

I don’t know how I’ve never heard of these guys before. Awesome album.

A genuinely fun record. It feels like a combination of genres like jam band, modern progressive rock and psychedelia. When these are mixed with a high pace in short songs, you get a sense of chaos and disorder, and I think is fantastic. Makes the album very frenetic from start to finish. Even though I still feel like I have yet a lot to unpack and discover, I feel very confident with the given score.

Rock, indie, prog, psicodelia.

Wow, this was unexpectedly good, considering I was very much into this genre at that time and hadn't heard of this band. Some bangers on this album.

I'M FINALLY OUT OF THE PSYCHEDELIC 70S! never heard of this group, surprisingly, because they are in line with my existing musical preferences excellent lyrics, pleasant melodies - street joy was my favorite and the only track to make it to my saved playlist. not an instant love, but instantly appreciated

Very cool album by a very cool band. They really jam and are a rad combo of their influences. They don’t strike me much as an ‘of their time’ band but that’s harder to define for the 2010s anyway. Still, though I like this a lot, it wouldn’t make my must-listen list.

Never heard this album before, but really enjoyed it. Very unique and cool. Standout songs: Burnished River to Consider Is and is and is

Interesting

I'd never heard of these guys before, and I was pleasantly surprised. Some of it reminded me somewhat of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard (not quite as good as that though). still, a solid four; very enjoyable.

Fun find for a band I’ve never heard of

Had no idea what I was getting in to but it surprised me and I quite enjoyed it. Will be saving a few songs

B 8.2 ★★★★

Yep these kids listen some Dead that for sure. Yeah I dig this band..

Pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this. Was expecting some unexceptional radio pop for some reason. Instead, it was pretty good listen.

Never heard of this band before. It was a good listen, I'd do it again.

Great fusion of classic rock and prog rock with some new indie and psychedelic touches. I like the song transitions and the "jam band" feel even though the songs aren't long. I will be recommending this album to friends

Can't believe I've never heard of them, this is right up my alley.

This was solid and I generally enjoyed it, but I didn't love it. Feels like something I would have enjoyed more if I paid closer attention, so we'll round up here. 3.6

pretty good stuff, although I had a hard time making it stick in my head. Rounding up from 3.5.

4/5 - I enjoyed this quite a bit, and this is the sort of thing I'm here for. I hadn't heard of White Denim, but I'll definitely keep listening. Their style seemed a little more on the jam band side of things than I usually listen to (hints of the Dead here and there for sure in the guitar), but given the overall landscape of what we get on this project, this was solid indie rock.

Most everything I want out of 21st century psychedelia. 4/5

Complex rhythms, great guitar interplay, really interesting and unique musically. I'd never heard of this band before but they are right up my street. Difficult to label. Sort of southern, laid back, indie prog rock. Like The Allman Brothers, Yes and Deerhoof combined with some random jazz fusion elements. Most songs on the album are pretty solid. I enjoyed the variety of genres and sounds. Would listen again. Favourite track - River to Consider. 7.5/10
