Better than I expected.

Yeah boi... ... Doch nicht iwie enttäuscht :(

Pretty good, not as good as Metallica

Nevermind. Ich find ned. Han en grosse Respekt an Kurt (es isch mer erst jetzt ufgfalle das de Kört Kobäin ja Kurt heisst) und sini Musig bringt mi grad zrug zu allne Playstation 2 Games woni jemals gspielt han, will hald alli irgend es nirvana Lied din gha hend (shutout a Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 GOAT PS2 game) Aufgrund vielne nostalgische Gamer Erinnerige doch 3 Schnäbbilis für de Kurt, de Klaus, de Peter und de Paul

nirväner hey falltmer gar nüt ih ezt zum da usehaue jede kennts, jede verstahts glaubs yada yada yada bin halt eifach au kein rock solid typ meh - drum muesi da hert blibe 3 gstoleni drum beats vo disco tracks

Definitely a classic, I think some of their songs were in the tony hawk games and what not, so they're nostalgic for sure

3 solid new songs i didn't know about before, great album and very diverse

Less hardcore than I initially thought it was going to be. I was really surprised by the lyrics, they sound like poetry when read without music. I like the more 'chill' songs. I now understand why Smells Like Teen Spirit is so liked by so many people.

While still living in Edinburgh, thanks to Al and Andy this is one I couldn’t escape. Hard not to enjoy and relieve the early moments of a band on its way up, with a sound that kicked out the 80’s and started something from scratch. I’d listen to most of this again.

I can't understate how the post 2000's Shin Megami Tensei soundtracks / shoegaze has made me be able to appreciate this sorta music. When guitar go fuzzzz me be buzz. With that being said, that prob moved the album from like a 4/10 to a 6/10, because this sorta music ain't my style. The hits / the first half of this album are pretty decent tracks, but because of how popular this style of music has become, i've become very mellow to it, if they have more of an ambient-experimental album i would probably enjoy it more hmmm. Oh and something in the way was pretty cool as well. I can really see it's mass appeal for sure, it screams "teenage rebellion" or whatever Ben says it means haha. (also i was watching anime when listening to this (shoutout to RE:zero) and the episodes were pretty peak and it helped with the vibe so that might of helped) Fav: Come as You Are

The album has shown some brilliance, with the first four songs deserving the praise they deserve. However, for me, this album struggles with having too many loud and obnoxious parts, which is highlighted in Lithium and Lounge Act that shows brilliance apart from these parts. Although this album's significance is pinned to these parts preserving this youth sound that still holds it, it doesn't resonate with me. I can understand the brilliance, but it’s not my style of music. Favourite song - Breed

In Bloom and Something in the Way are maybe the best songs Nirvana ever wrote. But overall, there's too much screaming for my linking.

I’d never really cared or explored Nirvana’s music before this, so it was interesting to get a taste of their sound. I tend to be more interested in lesser-known obscure rock and not generic mainstream releases. This project is one of the most well-known ones of all time. However I think that there was a lot of Grunge/Alt-Rock coming out in the decades during and after this release so the fact that this amassed so much popularity may just show how good quality it is. The band had some pretty cool melodies, and while I didn’t think I even knew any of these songs, I found myself recognising many melodies and lyrics. Overall a cool listen.

Never listened to it at the time, but dont see the fuss.

Idk if it was my mood or what but this album hit in the beginning. However, it quickly got too scream-y for me.

Why is he always talking about guns. 3 This is 100% a good album but it's a chore to listen to.

I want to really like them, they’re fine. A few familiar bangers but overall I find the genre tiring to listen to.

point8.

I’ve heard these songs so many times. Don’t think I’ve ever listened to the full album but it’s really hard to focus on them as I’m so used to them being background music. Ok I haven’t heard a lot of these songs but I don’t like them that much. On A Plain is pretty cool.

FAVO: Smells like teen spirit, Come as you are, Lithium

Pre-listening thoughts: this is the fourth highest rated album on the website at the time I’m typing this. This is Nirvana at their creative and commercial peak. I fear I’m going to piss people off with my rating. Post/during listening thoughts: every time I hear Smells Like Teen Spirit I DO think about the muppets barbershop quarter cover and I’m not sorry. Why have I heard almost every song on this album???? I don’t even like Nirvana. Maybe they were just that widespread during the early 2000s still when I was growing up. The lyricism on this album is definitely unique within grunge and I do appreciate that. The acoustic tracks are also nice. The first half of this album is so strong and then the second half is really not as much. As influential and important as this album is, nothing will save it from the fact that I personally don’t like grunge and this will never be my genre of choice. 5/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: idk man Fav tracks: Smells Like Teen Spirit, In Bloom, Come As You Are, Lithium, On a Plain Least fav tracks: Breed, Territorial Pissings, Drain You, Endless Nameless

The last thing I expected here was to not like this album as such, but to actually listen to it all your way through. It’s not my favourite , but I can now see what so many people love about it, even if I don’t.

I can't believe it took this long for Nevermind to pop up, and more importantly, I can't believe it took me this long to listen to a Nirvana album start to finish! I guess more or less it was just how I expected a Nirvana album to sound like. Even though I would say I like rock, admittedly some songs were a bit too heavy even for me, so the low-ish rating is a me problem (Endless, Nameless wtf?). Of course going into it, I already knew Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come As You Are so I really jammed to those two. I wouldn't say anything else particularly pricked my ears, except for Something In The Way which is such a hidden gem! I don't envision myself coming back to this anytime soon, but that being said, I think if I persisted and gave this a couple more listens, it might grow on me.

Although I don't like 90s punk rock, I can appreciate that this is a good album.

Honestly the never ending unremarkable electric guitar sound just made me exhausted. Only bass lines were nice. I understand why this album is not bad but I completely don't understand why everybody think it's great

The songs that are good are really good. The songs that are bad, are really bad.

A classic album in the genre and some songs that I have heard throughout my life. Grunge isn't really my favorite type of music though so no high score from me.

Debating between a 3 and a 4. Smells Like Teen Spirit and Something in the way are both 5 star songs to me, but the rest of the album is just ok. I really love Nirvana’s vibe, mystique, look, and multiple individual artists in the band, but apart from a few songs, I’m not super into their sound. I’ll be interested to see if there’s any more albums from them. This is a high 3 alongside the Killers album.

Its good. Nirvana

so many iconic songs in one album

Great, a classic for sure. Something in the way is just such a meme

A classic. To many of my friends this was the best of the best. To me it's okay, but grating.

Grunge daddies!

First 6 songs are ok - rest is shite

This is a very good Nirvana album. Grunge is not my thing.

1. I’m worse at what I do best 2. Tender age in bloom 3. Come doused in mud, soaked in bleach 4. I don’t mind, mind, don’t have a mind 5. I’m to blame for all I’ve hurt 6. Let me clip your dirty wings 7. Never met a wise man, if so, it’s a woman 8. I don’t care what you think unless it is about me 9. I wanted more than I could steal 10. Rather be dead than cool 11. As a defense I’m neutered and spayed 12. Underneath the bridge, tarp has sprung a leak 13. Bright and clear, it’s what I am

Do I like this album? Yes. Do I feel it's overhyped? Also yes. I was never a Nirvana song and came to them after Cobain's suicide. Whilst I will always love some of their songs I will always find a lot of it to just be noise. 3 5 Deb - liked parts of this but found it noisy 2.5

Not nirvanas best, but still good

good one, classic

I know this is a huge album but it just doesn’t do a lot for me. A few good songs and well made, but just not quite my thing

While I really liked many bands that came out of the grunge era, Nirvana was not my favorite. Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, and Soundgarden were/are much higher rated for me. While I like many of the songs on here, they are a bit too raw and rough for my liking. I also think bands with such an enigmatic frontman always appeal more to the masses and the press. That being said, this is a great album that still sounds good after all of these years. Side note - I had always thought this was their debut album.

3.5☆/5 09.28.2024

I was never really that into them. Appreciate the magnitude of these songs though.

basically the same as the other nirvana album, at least to my untrained ear

Very close to a 4. I love some of the songs, but I’m not into the yell-y parts.

Stellar when it was released, but I've probably heard this more than 1001 times.

Wow. Nirvana

Was dreading listening to this but it’s kinda awesome

So many songs have been ruined to me because of how overplayed they are. This used to be a 5 star album to me, but I really just can't listen to a lot of this album anymore.

I have never listened to this through. The first track is a classic but none of the rest really stood out.

I don't understand the fascination with this album, it's just grunge Standout: Something In The Way

It was pretty good

Man, I just had to hear the MTV unplugged thing...OK whatever, never mind. No escaping this record. It had the impact of a meteorite, although I still don't entirely understand why. It's good. Just good though. I grew up in Seattle during this time - I'm not cooler than thou - but alongside all the noise-rock happening around then, Nirvana was kinda the pop strain of it, the accessible version of 'grunge'. I understand it hit home for a lot of people. That's great. But for me it was always just fair enough.

I know I’m a hater. This album probably deserves 5 stars sheerly for the fact that despite me being insanely annoyed by it, I know of basically every song. That’s gotta count for something. The live album goes in, and I love their debut record though.

When this first came out I hated it with a passion, it seems that time has either mellowed me or the music. Aside from the last track I found it to be an album that I could listen to, there's still songs on it I would happily skip through but the chart one seems to have grown on my. Still only a 3/5 though

Good, but overrated.

One of the first full albums I've actually listened to, way back in the late-2000s (alongside Primus - Frizzle Fry). Wasn't much of a fan back then, don't know if i'll change my mind now. UPD: I certainly enjoy songs on this one way more than I did before. At the same time, it's not the kind of music that usually fits my mood or vibe, and the fact that I haven't returned to Nirvana properly for nearly a decade sorta speaks for itself. Good album, but doesn't pass my ratings well.

Yes, groundbreaking, a bit hard to connect to it for me because teenage/twen angst and anger isn't really where I'm at right now. At all.

As iconic as it may be, I'm not a huge fan.

Iconic, but still not my favorite

Umm… never mind.

It's ok but overrated. 3.0

I like Kurt — I do believe he is talented and has one of the most remarkable voices in rock 'n' roll music history. However, loud ≠ good. "Nevermind" greatly oscillates between genuine talent ("Smells Like Teen Spirit") and noise ("Territorial Pissings.") It seems that Nirvana's objective here was to give their audience tinnitus (even more prominent in "Bleach.") Three stars because I've a soft spot for "Lithium" and "Drain You."

I was always on the fence about Nirvana, I liked some of their stuff, but didn't think it worthy of the praise they got.

yeahhhhhhhh he’s the one who likes all our pretty songs and he likes to sing along and he likes to shoot his gun but he don’t know what it means

Pretty good but too deep for my simple taste.

Started off really enjoying Smells Like Teen Spirit and Cone As You Are, but he album quickly goes downhill from there

Mörg fín lög en nennti ekki að klára. Er Nirvana fyrsta popp-pönk hljómsveitin?? Uppáhalds lag: In Bloom

A classic album and its influence on music cannot be overstated, but I reckon it was just fine. I knew the big hits well, but hadn't heard all the songs on here before, and I ended up getting a bit bored by the end. Not bad, not for me.

I didn’t dislike the album. The music is pretty good but it just is boring. And maybe that’s because I’ve consumed so much music that was probably inspired by this album, and I’m a big fan of Live Through This. But yeah, probably won’t listen to this again, but if I hear it playing it’s fun.

I’m not really one for the grunge style but I can’t deny how talented they were. And thank god there’s a eclectic mix of songs on the album and that everything doesn’t sound the same.

Lots of anger

I know this is a great grunge album, and I can hear why, but I don't enjoy this sound any more. It's a dark place, and I don't want to go back. I'm rating it for enjoyment at this point in my life right now, and it's a 3.

I used to absolutely love Nirvana, but the pure amount of over exposure of this band has changed how I feel about them.

“Smells Like Teen Spirit” is a blatant ripoff of the hit 1991 song “Sideways” by Men Without Hats. Change my mind (you can’t).

I like this band more now than I did when they were active in my teenage years. Grunge is still not my favorite style of music.

It was a good album until everybody found out about it and suddenly were into good music. Too bad radio sapped it for all it was worth. Nirvana was nothing special, although their music was good. I was alive when we referred to alternative as college radio. When influential bands were coming up. Nirvana is influenced. I was listening to Pixies too. But unfortunately I didn’t start a band that made decent music and had catchy hooks and melodies that shit me stardom before I was ready. I still don’t understand why Nirvana caught on the way they did.

Nevermind has lost none of its power. A listening pleasure for friends of grunge.

3.8/5. Solid album, a massive shift in how rock music was perceived.

At some point the screaming becomes too much, no?

The first album we've disagreed on. G: 2/5 D: 4/5 Grunge is not for Goof and this album just felt morose. Dork enjoys. Lots of the songs are good.

Genre-defining, in my opinion musically overrated album.

A classic but not really my thing

Maybe I've heard this wayyyyy too much. Definitely genre defining but I rarely find myself seeking this out.

Four great singles surrounded by lots of filler. Overrated album

I played this half a dozen times, but I still only like 'Smells like teen spirit' and 'Come as you are'. The rest, meh.

Nirvana are a perfectly passable band who make perfectly passable music that all blends together into a blob of fine. Nothing was bad, but by the time Something In The Way and Endless, Nameless I was starved for anything interesting and these two tracks did give me a little hope. I just described this album to a co-worker as one which sets up to dive only to walk back down the stairs. Favourite track: Something In The Way.

Obviously some great songs early on but also a lot of the same idea repackaged. At times there's also just a racket. Generally overrated but that doesn't mean it's bad.

Started off strong but find I can’t particularly remember much of the rest of it.

I’m not going to do any hot takes here and say this album is bland, a bit forgettable outside 2 or 3 tracks, or imply that Nirvana as a band was always just mediocre. I won’t do that. All I can say is personally I’m not a big fan of the band. I thought some other grunge bands did the sound better, and had a lot more interesting material. I do recognize and understand this albums place in history. It gets my respect for that, but it’s not a great album. It’s an important album that should not be anyone’s favorite past the age of 16.

Most of the album is excellent. Just can’t listen when it turns into yelling though.

3/5. I did enjoy the first half of this but there are a few tracks throughout the album that just kind of annoy me more than anything. I think I missed the train cause I've just heard better punk and grunge rock. Sure these were awesome when they came out, hard to see it nowadays. And I'm all for music that is supposed to make people upset but it's not the lyrics that are making me upset, it's just the bad songwriting. Again, I enjoy the overall aesthetic just could be a really good EP rather than filler through half of it.

I've grown to appreciate Nirvana a bit more over the years, but I never really got into them. I was more of an Offspring and Soundgarden fan. The album's good, and I can't deny the impact the band had on music, but I've never understood the deification of Cobain. I wonder how they'd be received today if he hadn't died. A bunch of the tracks in the middle sound similar and start to run together a bit. I like the tracks that break the mold—"Lithium" and "Something in the Way" for example. "Territorial Vibes" has cool lyrics, but the music sounds like a Foo Fighters song—I wonder how much input Dave had on this one. "Endless, Nameless" has a cool post-punk, almost goth vibe to it. Speaking of post-punk, it will forever bother me how "Come As You Are" is bigger than the song it ripped off, Killing Joke's "Eighties" (who ripped off the also great song "Life Goes On" by the Damned). Standout tracks: Lithium, Something in the Way 3.5/5

I feel like this has aged and is now reminiscent of a particular period in time. But doesn’t translate across time. Still a good album.

Another in the series of albums I heard through the wall of my brothers room growing up. I'm way more familiar with this one but I dont know if that means its good. A lot of these songs kind of blend together in the middle. I think I just dont care for grunge. Come As You Are is pretty good.

There’s a few pretty good songs on here but overall it’s not really my thing. It all gets pretty samey by the end but “Something in the way” is great!

The bangers on this album are BANGERS, but, if I'm honest, a lot of it falls flat for me. I can't even imagine the boundaries that were broken with this release, so I have the utmost respect for that aspect. Aethetically, this is super cool and grimey. Sonically, this album is either very flat, or unnecessarily noisy, at almost all points. It's a mixed bag, and a lot of the mid-tier songs are so overplayed I feel burnt out. I think the unique "underwater" vibes of the best tracks are unique and the real standout. I wish more were in that vein. Fav tracks: Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are, In Bloom

Growing up in the 90’s, this is a cult classic! This was weird to listen to as an adult compared to when I played this on repeat as an angsty teen. Noticed a lot more rage & disordered thinking that I did not vibe with as much. Would not skip any song that came up on a playlist, but would not seek it out myself.

Was great at the time, never considered it "best" of anything

Punk cornerstone, rock genesis

It has that song from The Batman.

Listened to “Smells Like Teen Spirit” bc even though I know it, I’ve never listened closely before. The lyrics are quite gibberish but the rhythm and melody are classic.

Maybe 4-5 great songs

Some well-known songs, others unknown to me. All sound very similar.

Great energy but not my thing

already listened to it, pretty good, i like it

A classic but not really my style.

3.5/5 Grunge indeed

Not bad, but not special

A solid album that's considered a classic, though I wouldn't grant it that status, necessarily. There's heaps of great songs but it just sounds overproduced, overplayed and overhyped.

Not 100% my type of music but overall very good. That final song of the album should be thrown in the bin.

I really enjoy some of these songs, I really hate others. I think that balances out to about a 3.

Some classics that most people love, some misses that I just couldn’t finish. Especially the last song of the album I had to turn off.

I'm not sure I really want to listen to this album. It's kinda cringe worthy now. Polly is a little better now. I think it was better when I was an angrier person

It was fine.

Among the most explosive breakthrough ever. I like my Nirvana slick and less edgy though. Didn't see the hype if this one that much.

A classic that holds up, but not something that I'll return to often. Good, but not in my wheelhouse for re-listenability.

Naked baby moment. Rip Kurt Teen Spirit - womp womp. Not bad, classic but In Bloom - Come As You Are - cum. Classic, one of the better songs Breed - Lithium - Polly - Territorial Pissings - straight up ass. Not a shred of redeemability Drain You - meh. Thought this was in Rock Band, but I don't recognize it Lounge Act - mixed feelings. Started fine, devolved towards end

Great start and ending, but couldn't stand the middle songs. Stand-out: Something in the way

Obviously good and the hits speak for themselves. However the grunge sound that was so well pioneered by then has now soured to me and many of the stretches of songs toward the end feel tired. Still many great hits.

Ach Gott, ja.

I enjoyed the grungy nostalgia but not something I'd often return to. 7/10

Not my taste but I did enjoy this album.

I hadn’t thought I’d heard this before besides the obvious ones, but I must have years ago in the background of parties or gatherings and not realised. So it can be said that it’s memorable, although it’s only really the classic tracks I enjoyed, the rest felt very filler, so as I suspect Nirvana are not really for me.

Kyllähän ne nirvanan parhaat biisit tällä on. Muuteskin aika tasavahvaa grungea

Pretty good grunge album

Still not really a Nirvana fan, but I feel generous today and can appreciate that this is one of the last times genuinely angry and avant-garde rock music really connected with the public, and some of Kurt’s best ideas are here. I refuse to qualify nu metal as such. C

this was i think the third nirvana album i’ve listened to and it’s definitely the best. i didn’t really like the other two at all but this one had some redeeming qualities.

Groundbreaking I know, but I’m just not big on Nirvana.

Somewhat challenging album for me to rate. I do like most of the songs individually, but when it comes to the album as a whole, i'd pretty much rather listen to anything else by Nirvana. Of course, it's importance is unquestionable, and personal taste aside, i can't really say that this album isn't good.

This may improve through familiarity but I' don't think I can be bothered. There are some good songs, and some raucous nonsense.

Never reeeally liked it, but it's really good 4 Iconic THE grunge album. It's not that good though... 3 you can feel the punk influences seeping through. Like liquid in wellingtons

overrated

I'm not the biggest Nirvana fan so like that's my bias. This album is pretty overrated. It has good and fun songs but idk besides that it doesn't do anything else for me. Sorry :/.

Listened to this on the toilet. 2pm sh*t went so hard. At the same time, however, Nevermind was never an album I was attached or particularly impressed by. I can listen to it and enjoy it, but as an active member of APA (Anti-Penis Association), I will not be plastering a 24”x36” poster of that baby and his schlong on my pretty green walls. “Come as You Are” and “Something in the Way”. I know, I’m a basic b*tch.

Half this album was great, the other half felt like when you lend a pencil to a kid in your class who you don’t know well. You wonder to yourself, do I seek the pencil out? Do I ask for it back? How much effort do I need to show for one seemingly unimportant pencil? Do the answers to these questions change if the subject changes from a pencil to a pen? What about if the subject becomes a half-broken toaster which only toasts one side? How much do the answers to my questions alter then? How much pride is required for our possessions which don’t necessarily prove their worth consistently? In this specific case, I lent my time to Nirvana for a finite amount of time. They knew it was mine, they acknowledged their gratitude and used it for the time given. However, when the 49 minutes were over, they did not give it back to me. They rushed away, either to speed to freedom or because they were unaware of their burglary. Either way, my time was swapped out like the statuette in Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, replaced only with a worthless bag of sand. Shame on you Nirvana, for all your hair flips and addicting tracks, you had even more songs which felt like digging dip into wet sand. It continues to cave in, replacing your progress with hopelessness. I don’t mean to say that your bad tracks made me feel anything, because while they did make me feel one thing, it was merely that I longed for them to end. Thanks for the good ones though, they sort of make it worth it.

I've listened to this a few times and I just am not that crazy about it. Some of it I enjoy but it's a little too long or something.

Other than the classic, the rest was garbage.

I liked some, e.g. "Smells like Teen Spirit" obviously and also "Something in the way" and "Come as you are". Some were a bit too much, but overall, a pretty fun album.

The spirit of the typical, modern teenager is demonstrated by his indulgence in meaningless entertainment and violence, further revealing a world where nothing has any value, where there is no memory, and identity becomes nothing more than chasing after trends. And thus the teenager cares about nothing, yet neither does he mind what happens to him or around him, no matter how vile.

Vallanhan tämä on pätevä levy. Mietin, onko kuitenkin hittien varassa. Toisaalta niitä on monta. On onnistuttu.

The rock was great, but I wish I liked Kurt Cobain's voice more. "Something In The Way" was an amazing song - it's too bad the album didn't end with that and ended with the noisy "Endless, Nameless" instead.

Powerful album. I’ve always liked Nirvana but not 4 star for me.

Every generation's biggest hooks get wildly overrated and then re-calibrated by future generations. That's definitely the case here; the record's just not as good as it was.

so iconic and impactful, but i feel is lacking at times. 7-8/10

It was okay. Not my style of music although there were some good songs.

Liked some songs more than others

Liked this. Prob wouldn't listen to again though but get the appeal

I liked Side A, but Side B slides towards just unintelligible noise and frustrated grunts. I don't have the heaps of nostalgia with this records some people have.

Has some classics which are fun to here

It's a cool album and it brings some nostalgic feelings

Retrospectively I do not find it that great after all, but remember when it came out. A real game changer, bridging heavy rock elements and indie rock, and that is not to forget about! Made its mark for sure

It probably makes me uncool but I just don't care for Nirvana. Grunge is just not my jam and all the songs just sound the same. Kurt Cobain is said to be a great songwriter but I can barely make out the lyrics. I know they had a big musical impact so I always try to listen to them with an open mind (and hence the 3 stars instead of 2) but I just never enjoy listening

I just don’t get the hype for this band and this record. The singles are fine but nothing really excites me here.

It's fine. I guess you had to be there.

goddammit

It's gotten better over the years, but I still intensely dislike Nirvana.

I preferred this to In Utero for sure. I’m not entirely into it though.

5/13, 38%

Nirvana ain't my thing!

Good but also very overrated

P. good

It's fine.

Never heard of them. This record was important to me as a guitarist because I could "fake" playing all the songs on this when I was just starting out. I learned every song here. But what I realized is that it was more a relationship of convenience. I don't LOVE any Nirvan records. I LOVE some Nirvana songs. But it's hard for me to make it through an entire record, with the exception of their "Unplugged" performance. And, if I had to pick a studio record, I think it would be "In Utero." "Incesticide" is my favorite release though. I really like Bloom and Territorial Pissings from this record. From a pure musical enjoyment standpoint, this is a 2/5. Adjusted for its influence on modern music.

Ville va anti, men är inte det.

It’s. Nirvana. Need I say more?

Overglossed compared to In Utero. Would benefit from a less shiny finish to the production.

Ah ! Teen Spirit! Those were the wonder years

A classic. Harder rock than I remember.

An enjoyable exposition of the grunge sound. So much so that almost every song has a hook I've heard before. And that's despite missing the genre while it was alive and avoiding it in retrospect. I prefer Sturgill's cover of In Bloom, but the brilliance of the composition here is still evident. Other songs are just as strong and are highly sonically cohesive: Substrate of low acoustic and electric guitars, vocals sitting in the middle, occasional high tone flourishes. The angst is laid on a bit thick, but the album's influence is undeniable. The noise on Endless, Nameless is probably my favorite newly-discovered piece of Nirvana music.

A couple good tracks but mostly just mediocre shouting.

Not as good as everyone made out.

Nirvana’s Nevermind as a collection of songs is like the pattern camouflage; edgy and cool in tasteful doses, but a red flag if it’s the entire outfit. An hour straight of music that sounds like this is too much music that sounds like this. I feel the same way about the Beatles. Maybe this is not a productive thing to say. Anyways, this album’s influence on other stuff that I’ve listened to is undeniable, and it’s aesthetic consistency and commitment to its sound and themes is admirable. I’d put a couple songs from this into a playlist so that my friends think I’m cool, but otherwise wouldn’t listen all the way through again. I feel like people who 10/10 this album or say this is their favorite album are the kind of people whose favorite movie is Fight Club or Pulp Fiction

Bäst: "Come as you are"

never got the appeal but its well made

Good Start, Terrible End

I'm not really into grunge rock, but I liked some of the songs - Smells Like Team Spirit, Lithium, Polly, On A Plain and Something In The Way. But the rest of the songs I didn't really enjoy that much. 3/5 stars.

WITH THE LIGHTS OUTTTTT ITS LESS DANGEROUS HERE WE ARE NOW ENTERTAIN USSSSS I FEEL STUPID AND CONTAGIOUS!!!! very solid rock album even if i dont normally listen to the genre

Not a fun of grunge but this was a pretty fun album.

This album instantly fills me with 'fuck you!' energy but also a familiar warm kind of a feeling of belonging that could only be improved with real people to jump around to it with.

Can see why it's a good album but its not for me

Pretty classic-sounding rock, to me at least. Somewhat grungy, I guess, if I had to get specific. If I was craving music like that I would like it, and I can see how it could be cathartic.

Some nice high points, some boring songs

Noisy.

Yep, good. Not blown away but something I should definitely have listened to before now.

Another LP I neglected to review at first given how it seems everything under the sun has already been said about it. Looking back through the calcified hatred and rejection of fame on 'In Utero,' this LP feels almost comically light, but it's just another side of the same coin. The tongue-in-cheek, grinning facetiousness of Kurt's lyrics skewer the world at large just as pointedly (though less dourly) as those on Utero. The main difference is the instrumentation and songwriting – always feel that so many people undersell Kurt's prowess for writing absolutely stunning, memorable melodies. The layers of fuzz and feedback may get the historical nod, but it's the rock-solid musicianship at the core of this album that makes it such a hit.

Without a doubt a classic. But definitely not my flow. Always thought it was weird that they call themselves nirvana, but listening to them I feel very far from nirvana.

Some great songs on this album. Wish there was a half star option. 3.5 stars.

Yeah but you know.

It's a classic album but grunge rock isn't for me

Classic, start of the grunge era, and I never liked it

a little above average and it wasent a torture ritual

I think not all great names are meant for everyone had high hopes but didn't meet the expectations it had some glimpses but wasn't anything impressive some where even more bad even sounded disturbing 3.93/10

Even at the time, I thought it was overrated and kinda lame. Decades later, my opinion hasn't changed. I don't like Nirvana.

Took me a few try’s to finish this one, had hoped i’d like it more as i do like the more mainstream singles from the album however this was not for me, also the last song made me irrationally angry it took alot of willpower not to turn it off

The hits are still good songs. The rest is trash, 90's tude doesn't equal decent music. Nirvana had something great, but it was ruined by self-indulgence on the material they recorded, and the potential to grow out of it and write a truly great record by self-destruction.

Look, it's fine. It sounds ok. It's got some alright songs on it. I don't mind listening to the odd Nirvana song, but I will never be able to enjoy a Nirvana album on account of them not sounding good.

Stylistically not for me to be honest. Too loud for me personally, but I understand why it can appeal to some people.

Im a hater. i love the culture nirvana made for music, but their music itself was not all that. Last two tracks were good tho

I like Polly and Something in the Way.

Not really into grunge, some songs are good however. 5/10

Objectively this is very good and has a huge influence. But I just don’t connect with the style and genre very much.

I know the singles that got released, and they're okay. I mostly don't love this style of music though. I can't understand most of what's being sung, so reading about how meaningful the lyrics are isn't helpful when I don't know what they are. I know this was a major album in terms of its impact in music at that time, but it's not my thing.

The album started out fine, but the longer I listened the more it became mind numbing. Don't get me started on the last song as it was aptly named "Endless, Nameless" as it just seemed to go on forever.

Very angsty

i just don't like grunge :(

this playlist cursed my umamusume runs so i don't want to listen to it anymore. not my thing anyway

This album is... actually, not good. It's pretty mediocre. There is not much musical interest on here, it just sounds like depressing rock but by not that nice musicians. I get the influence of Nirvana, even though I don't like or value them much neither, but I can't deny that they just sound bad at times. They are not great musicians, and they don't need to, but their music doesn't even transmit me nothing. It's just plain. I remember the last album I listened to of them (because of this generator too), their MTV Unplugged. Even the Bowie cover is plain and boring! And this album demonstrates me that I am right when judging them. It's not horrible, but the music isn't good enough for me to even care. I don't love grunge either, to be honest. Just a bit of The Smashing Pumpkins and Alice In Chains. Maybe there's another band too, but it's a very uninteresting and plain (and boring, and bland,...) music for me. And if Nirvana even transmitted something to me... Or were even good... But they are just that band that doesn't want to be famous but at the same time feel like they are searching for it desperately. And this Nevermind has all the mainstream aspects possible for them to blast off. If only of my ears, please. Three Nirvana albums are enough. And they are not that good! It's more about pop culture than the music itself.

I only like some Nirvana tracks in their whole catalogue and that's all. This album is ok I guess.

okay loved the first 3 songs, ballads were okay, but towards the end i got a headache :(

A fine album for blacking out to. Couldn't tell you how many songs are on it or how long it was without checking the stats. Louder than the voices in my head, which I guess is kind of the point of grunge? The lyrics are straight ass, not to mention the contested cover art. Sorry to Kurt Cobain but this just isn't how I feel my feelings.

Couple of great songs but really did not enjoy the rest, don't shout at me.

I know, I know - and this might be the oldest I’ll sound in these reviews - but it’s often just a bunch of screaming. Play Lithium and skip to the next album please.

I’ve enjoyed like 3 songs and during rest of this I was bored 😑

Nirvana igen! Nåväl, Nevermind är absolut bättre än In utero.

No denying the cultural impact of this album in the 90's is just been played out

whatever

2.5 - some classics on here obviously but I wouldn’t throw this on…i appreciate it but it’s not for me

not my vibe

👎🏻

Wasn’t super psyched about this one as I have tried to listen to this album straight through before and never make it all the way through. This came out a few years before I was born and I guess I just have never felt that level of aggression. I already was a fan of Come As You Are from the cover the cast of American Horror Story did in the Freak Show season, lol. Honestly, I mostly like Lithium & Smells Like Teen Spirit too. There are a couple softer tracks that offer a nice reprieve from the onslaught of angst. But the rest of the tracks are really hard for me to sit through, the last one especially. I was deeply relieved when it ended. Overall there are things here I can appreciate, a couple songs I would revisit, but the album as a whole is not for me. I originally gave this a 3/5, but now that I’m further into the project I think a 2 is more accurate for how I feel about this one.

I think I’m just not catching on to the nirvana hype. I hate the star system on this because like a 2 star seems like a bad rating. I don’t think the album is 2 stars, but I just didn’t rock with it that much.

I'm probably the biggest Nirvana hater ever existed, but this really sucks after Lithium

It rocks, but I just can't with the screaming. Could not finish Endless, Nameless. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Smells Like Teen Spirit, Lithium ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.

Garażowe granie = robota w kamieniołomach

Good. Not yet a full fifth into this challenge, and we can hopefully be done with Nirvana. At least, I hope Bleach isn't also on here. Nirvana doesn't deserve 100% representation. No one does. Nevermind, like In Utero and Unplugged, is a very uneven experience. 'Lithium', 'In Bloom', and 'Come as You Are' range from decent to good, but the rest of this falls somewhere on the meh to flushable spectrum, including the leading track, which is, in my opinion, the most overrated and overplayed song of the decade - possibly ever. Maybe it was a good song at some point, but I can't tell anymore. It's been beaten to death; a victim of its own success, I suppose.

Meh. I think this is the third Nirvana album? I was fine with the first entry, but I don’t really see a reason for more than one of their albums on this list. I don’t really think they moved the needle in music that much. This probably deserves a higher rating than the other Nirvana albums I’ve given. but I’ve grown bored of Nirvana. I’m retroactively giving this a lower score to balance the scale of Nirvana albums.

The highs are very high, but the lows are now great. Maybe if I was born in the late 70s and had that teenage angst or if I liked grunge rock more I'd feel more strongly about this album, but this just isn't for me. However, the first three tracks are great! 2.5 stars but bumping down to 2 because I don't think I'm gonna return to this

Heard it plenty already thanks

I always wanted to listen to this album and never did! Amazing guitar and drums, but overall a bit too rock for my taste

as overrated as it can be

Oh well Whatever Nevermind...

Could be handy sometimes

About what I expected, I only liked the songs I know.

Meh.

Well it still doesn't do much for me but i very much get the appeal now

BORING

Only because of influence

why live albums?

I liked Nirvana when Nevermind first blew up. I like their quieter moments better so prefer Something in the Way and Lithium. I mostly find them almost manic-sounding now and they kinda stress me out. That being said, Nevermind is iconic and inspired a generation of grunge bands. 3/5 for that. 2/5 me wanting to listen to it. 1/5 album cover.

Better than some of the new crap, but still not my style

Früher mal gehört, nicht wirklich geil, Grunge halt

I like Smells Like Teen Spirit

While it has 2 great songs, there's just a lot of screaming. Look, maybe I'm not a grunge person, but I've also never been a fan of songs that sing the same line over and over, whether it's Bill Wither's "Lovely Day", The Police's "Message in a Bottle", or Nirvana's "Bleed"

Like some of it is cool, but it mostly makes me nervous so

Previously on me reviewing music or something idk what to call this. "...On a positive, this album definitely belongs on the list. I can't think of a more popular album that I've skimped out on listening to." Wasn't expecting to come full circle so soon. When I first started out with listening to music I didn't have any bands that I was definitively into, but really wanted to be able to talk about music. The result was me briefly latching onto this band and album as a way of proving that I knew my stuff. The thing is, I had only listened to a snippet of Smells Like Teen Spirit and knew next to nothing about Nirvana, which resulted in some of the most embarrassing conversations that I've ever had in my life. To this day I've refused to touch this band and album out of shame. So... Now that I'm finally listening to it... I can say with confidence... That it's alright. The big hits are pretty good, but everything else drags super hard, especially during the second half. While I've criticised some of the other "hardcore" albums I've encountered on this list for not being nearly tough enough, I thought the restrained and pensive sound of this album was quite neat. I'm interested to know more about what the lyrics are getting at in the future - I couldn't make out what Kurt was saying half of the time.

Not my style.

An occasional listen to, at best for me.

Not to my taste, very shouty, did get a few head bangs tho tbf

This was better than the other two albums of theirs that are on this list, but that's not saying very much since I gave them both a 1. This is not a 1 only because of "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

5/10, rounding up to a 3 star. The hits hit hard, but I feel like the rest of the album wasn’t much compared to the hits, they were just there. None of the songs were ‘bad’, which is why I am rounding up, but most of the songs (except the few hits) stuck out. They more acted as filler for the like 3 or 4 amazing songs.

Solid album, but not my vibe

A few good tunes here. Not the whole album for me.

Obviously know the album cover and band name Know the songs but surprised to find them here as I never could place them I don’t like the screaming I like Come As You Are, Something In The Way

Smells Like Teen Spirit...the anthem for a generation. I know Nirvana released an indie album before this but if we're only counting major label debuts, Smells Like Teen Spirit is a contender for best first song off a debut album. Come As You Are is my favorite song from this album. Kurt Cobain's voice is annoying. Smells Like Teen Spirit, In Bloom and Come As You Are is a really strong start to an album. Lithium was a big hit for them but it's the weakest song from this album so far. This album peaked at Smells Like Teen Spirit and is downhill from there. Territorial Pissings is punk. On A Plain sounds like every song on the Singles soundtrack. Everything in the early 90s was grunge and gangsta rap. Endless, Nameless is the worst song on the album. It's their take on metal and it's terrible. And it drags on forever and it has a a full minute of guitar distortion and some weird background sound.

I am not a fan of Nirvana and this album didn't change my mind. Most of it is what I consider irritating music. The only track I was able to tolerate was Polly even though it is not a very good song.

Nostalgic, but still never one I’ll reach for.
