Called it at the second track. What is with the proliferation of bad British electronica on this list?!
Horrible... Solo sonidos que me hacían incomodo. I wish i had duck feet, si vuelvo a esuchar esta canción, aun que sea por accidente, me suicido, en el lugar donde este parado. Me mato.
1/5 why are we beeping and booping like this for almost an hour. 4.9
Agree with the guy who hooked up at a Halloween party with an Asian girl dressed as a cat, this album sucks. This music only suits 5am in a field with a light show

Utterly annoying bollocky kak
I'm sure that the maker of this list put this album here as some kind of mean joke. Never, ever should you have to listen to this album and certainly not before you die. Maybe after would be better.
- never heard of this - another long one with not many songs which i’ve decided i don’t really like i’d rather more songs that are shorter on a longer album or few longer songs on a shorter album - okay what is this weird lowfi jazz - bubbling water over a walkie talkie okay - bro egyptian vibes in the back - this sounds like a background song in the scooby doo monster island movie like all of them - little too experimental for me - also too much instrumental not enough words - yeah no 1 star
Naw.
Ah, my old friend, electronic music. I have a love/hate relationship with electronic music. Some I really, really love, but most of it just bores me or irritates me. Orbital are, or is it is, more on the boring, annoying side. I tried to listen to it, I did….Well, not really. I did listen to it once, and I realized pretty quick a second listen wasn’t going to push me more to their side of thinking, but here I am writing this while bleeps and blorks are ringing in my ears with a tinny-sounding fake drum. What is interesting about this album is that Orbital released it right at the start of the Criminal Justice Act, launched by the United Kingdom to crack down on illegal raves. While Snivilisation isn’t a direct response to the act, like the Prodigy’s Music for the Jilted Generation seemed to be, Orbital did release a track called Are We Here? (Criminal Justice Bill) which consists of four minutes of silence. To me, that sounds like heaven after listening to Snivilisation. Maybe I’m being a little harsh. The title, Snivilisation, is badass, and standing up against the man is cool. These days, it seems like too many people want to cozy up to the man. But I digress. Most of the songs sound like the theme songs for TV shows in the 2000s. They are just kind of there. It may be an important album for Electronic music, but it isn’t to me.
album was cool but I'll likely never listen again
If you like it, you like it. But to me? Unlistenable garbage.
More boring than egregiously offensive, in my opinion. I feel 98.2% confident that, should I be sentient in my last moments of life, staring death in the face, I will not be thinking, "Man, I'm so glad I listened to that Orbital record." 1.5/5
Finally got my spotify to work at work. Having a rough day so I thought to myself "Oh I'll listen to an album to help me get through the day!" This made my day worse.
All Instrumental music. maybe good for studying or background noise but not for driving.
Im confused
Someone PLEASE tell me why these guys have 2 albums on the list.
Len Houmous always used to say that only ‘Gypsies, Tramps And Thieves’ listen to Orbital. It’s actually why Cher wrote her famous song in response to it. 1.2 10/10 Attached
Sometimes just o.k. in term of background-music but also some annoying pieces. Plus way too long! Nonetheless I worked thru but nothing that pleases me! 1,5
Grok users listen to this sort of trash
I was into the first song but then they decided to spam stupid vocal samples
no raga proprio non mi piace questo
Nice background noise not too 1001
The songs in this album were pretty long, especially the last two. Overall, pretty meh album, nothing really exciting and very repetitive stuff. I want to say that if you've listened to one of the songs, you've listened to them all, but they are slightly different, although the main idea remains. I am not a huge fan, nor am I a middle-sized fan, so I am rating this album pretty poorly, but I do understand that there are people who would enjoy the repetitiveness of it.
I just think that this isn’t meant for album listening really. It’s meant to be played in a set at a venue where everyone is off their rocker anyways so don’t mind that it’s not much more than a simple beat. But that meant that it wasn’t exactly a fun listen for me.
not for me
Why the fuck did we need 2 albums by this completely unheard of band? Hard pass.
EDM that's a little to far for my ears.
This was terrible. I did not need to hear this before I died.
Klangteppich mit endlosen Wiederholungen
Niks aparte disco
WHAT GARBAGE! Nothing in my likes tells anyone that I would want to listen to this.
Not for me
Total crap

If hell is real, then this is on the jukebox there. Unless you are a club DJ and need to know what backing music you have to work with, who would ever choose to listen to this? When would they listen to this outside of a dance club or rave? 1001 albums to listen to before you die and this was picked? Seriously? I would rather listen to an instructional video on vacuum repair. Awful.
Think I will find whoever the critic was that allowed this into the 1001 and lock them in a box for an hour and fifteen minutes so they lose the time that this album took from me. Fucking shit. Sounded like either generic club music in a movie scene, Nintendo’s walking music and the kind of samples that come preloaded on a web DJ site. Will not be listening again Specific rating - 0.3 Fav song- sad but true Least fav- are we here
The end of the first song made me feel there were bugs in my ears. They named themselves after the M25, think this album really captures that vibe- annoying! While its not the worst techno album we've had I still wouldn't listen to it again. Favourite song: I Wish I Had Duck Feet Least: Crash and Carry
Nope
Felt like torture to listen to. not my usual style
Not my genre at all. Nothing to appeal from this, except how great it was when Skunk called out the Stormzy Glasto headlines for saying he was the first black artist to play the pyramid stage
Not for me but appreciate they were pioneers in something that has got much better since this.
wtf did I just listen to lsd trip
Sometimes it sounds a bit like Philip Glass, but mostly it's just restless music
Decent background music but not my bag
The songs were too repetitive
boring ://
Oh joy, yet another 90s british electronic album \s Nothing redeeming about this, why is this here. 1*
lol, no. 1/5
I find neither beauty nor emotional pull (of even the slightest magnitude) here. Just audio output from computer programming organized around banal rhythmic patterns. It leaves me cold and numb. Oh humanity where art though?
Jag gjorde det! Jag tog mig igenom det. Herregud vilken resa.

No one is dancing to this ass
aw shit here we go again, another obscure uk electronic album
It’s an hour and a half of bizarre on hold music (except for Quality Seconds which was just weird in the mix of the rest of the songs) and bad techno. It’s just… nothing. I don’t know why it’s on the list but I don’t want to hear it again.
Some relatively solid background music mixed with some truly annoying tracks. Hovering around 1.5 but the last half hour was a chore so I’m giving it a 1.
Techno gives me anxiety I guess
Never let it be said that I can't handle a long song. But these just got boring. It was more or less just what I expected, but so many others have done it better. Sorry, can only be a 1
Track one started so promisingly and I thought I might just enjoy this album. But no, it descended into everything I expected. Endless ambient loops on repeat, with just a few little spikes of something different.
Oof. This stuff is just painful for me. I saw Sad but True and was really hoping for something based off Metallica. It wasn't. Sad but true. Much like this album. 1
Another album that just feels like noise.
Shite
I love the Metroid Prime Soundtrack.
I have a Casio keyboard and a talented 5 5 year old. I think we could match this stuff.
Nope,electronic noise
Electronic music has a low ceiling for me. This has brief moments of good music surrounded by a bunch of annoying crap. And as an album is it LONG. On the border of 1 and 2 stars, dropping to 1 because of the stupid title.
didn’t do much for me
I must preface it by saying that I generally dislike electronica. But this was just painful.
Techno? More like heck no.
One pealing song but otherwise shit.
‘90s British electronic music is far from my usual listening habits. Occasionally, you stumble upon a hidden gem in albums like these—but not this time. Once again, it ended up as background music.
In a nutshell: more ambient techno. I wonder if any Gen Xers who went to warehouse raves in the 90s are having flashbacks by listening to this. Like Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works, it's meant to be background music. But that's where the comparison ends. Because it's not IDM. All I hear is random vocal samples with bleeps and bloops. Yes, it's not my thing. Overall: 2/10
Absolute crap.
boring is an understatement
I can't think of a time when I would want to listen to this. 1 star or F.
Techno is not my thing and this a perfect example of why. Making disco with a Casio keyboard, a drum machine, and a few samples is not interesting This album goes beyond not interesting to flat out boring
I liked some of the songs on the album but a lot of them had sounds mixed in that just doesn't vibe with me. It take me out of the mood and song completely.
Tedious tedious tedium. Gave up after a quarter of the way through. Was hoping it would improve but no joy. Went to Spotify and played something from my own playlist which I knew i would enjoy. Instantly better
Wow how boring and repetitive.
If you looked at my genre reviews, you'd think I hate electronic music. I've yet to rate a single one above 2 stars. I'm convinced either those who curate these lists understand something about EDM that I don't, or they have terrible taste in EDM. Most video games have more interesting and less repetitive soundtracks than this.
“Whew! Glad that’s over. Not the worst but definitely not my… what do you mean that was only the third track?”
Nope. I tried. I found it annoying. I'm disappointed in myself that I didn't give the whole album a try but it was an exercise in frustration
Just another terrible electronic music album on this list. Why not pull in more artists from around the world.
💩
Awful.
This record is boring and repetitive. Period.
Conceptual techno = HARD PASS
I did not care for this at all. Not even as background music.
list used up all my patience for bleep bloop Brits so now it's 1 star unless it's immediately interesting
Running out of things to say about this shit so I’ll say this again: it was a mistake to let the English find out about any drug except for speed, smokes, and alcohol.
it always sucks to see jobs get outsourced overseas. spare a thought for the poor Pentagon officer who lost his job designing audio to be played as part of psychological warfare campaigns because these English lads were willing to do it cheaper.
Not for me
Shortest song on this album I may listen to again. The rest of have too many seconds. If someone asked what year this was made I would’ve nailed it. And that’s not bragging.
Really didn't like this. Can't see any artistic merit in it.
Nothing against these guys, but I have no idea why this album is on the list. There was nothing to remember. There was lots to forget, including the insufferable repetition of lyrics about philosophy, prodigal sons, and freak shows.
I don't know how any electronic music made it to this list. But there is a lot of repetitive, generic trash on this list. And this is peak generic trash.
What is this author's obsession with electronica? I've listened to more electronica 400+ albums into this project than I have in my lifetime previous. This is repetitive, soulless and nothing I would ever choose to listen to.
Marginally better than the first orbital album I received on this list. Still not worth listening to though
I hate it
Meh
Back to the unfamiliar, which is nice! However, this album was a bit of a tough listen. I’m sure in the mid-nineties this was very new and boundary pushing but to modern ears it sounds like someone who is new to the genre and is cramming as many samples as they can into most songs. At times it was a pretty hard listen. The highlights were the more ambient tracks where less is more.
My annoyance towards the list and even some hate towards the creator of the list grows a lot, when I hear albums like this. I can't and won't listen to the British DJs. Their albums are full of crap. I got it after I've listened to 3 of them from this list. Now I think I got through more than 10 of them. Of course everybody is allowed to have preferences, but stuff like this album should never belong to this list. Get this off. 1.5/5.
As a society we need to stop enabling this.
I can't think of a time when this would be something I want to listen to. Not catchy or groovy enough to want to dance, not chill enough to put on in the background, not interesting enough to focus on. And some of the songs really drag on for way too long.
Techno? More like Heck-No.
Actually unlistenable
I want my 75 minutes back. I mean it. Why did I have to listen to this? What cultural impact does this album have? Not much. What about the quality? It's mid. This album is mid. It is yet another boring, long-as-hell 90s British electronica album. I literally don't even feel like writing a ton for this one. Just read my review of Haunted Dancehall by the Sabres of Paradise. That's how I feel about this album but to a marginally lesser extent. This shit is still uninteresting and unimportant. Haunted Dancehall is still worse, but these albums are way to similar for both or even one of them to be on the list. And of FUCKING course, there are TWO Orbital albums on the list! They barely even deserve one, especially when great artists like MF DOOM, Louis Armstrong, and Weezer don't have shit on this list! I'm upset. 1/5.
This is a new artist to me, so expectations going into it… Oh, it’s electronic dance music, that explains why I’m not familiar with these guys. It’s fine background music, I guess. I have definitely found that this genre is not my cup of tea, so it goes.
Huh, wanted to like this more, but after a song or 2 it wasn't even holding my attention in the periphery.
As terrible as the other Orbital album on this list. Not much to add, just a very boring and outdated style.
# Album Name: Snivilisation # Artist: Orbital # Rating: 1/5 # Comments: If i was bender from futurama, i suspect this is what i would listen to. Honestly, i knew as soon as the first song started playing that i would probably not like this album. I stuck with it. I wanted to give it a chance. But honestly, wtf is this. I'd try to imagine where i would listen to this album? Background music for work? Nope. For enjoyment? Nope. In a club? Nope. Should i be high as a kite? i'd honestly have to be. I just dont get it. Its weird cos Halcyon on and on is one of the best electronic tunes. And it came from the same dudes that made this?! No way does Orbital need at least (hopefully no more) than 2 albums on this damn list. # Top Tunes: fuck knows. # Would I listen to it again? Honestly, nope.
Repetitive and very long Standout song: Are we here
Yuck, this was not good.
So many sounds! And all at once! Got kinda annoyed on my hour drive. Didn’t hate Kein Trink Wasser, it had something going for it. The rest? Nah! Too busy to be background music and not catchy enough to make me wanna dance or move in any kind of way
I gave all the songs a shot, but I just really dislike this type of music. 1/5
1.5 boring old electrónica
This is just about the same as listening to my alarm go off for an hour and 15 minutes. This was a pretty excruciating listen for me.
Soulless.
Tiresome.
God was that dull.
Nah. Too much going on here
I just find this to be tedious background music
If I was into dancing and getting fucked up on party drugs, I might love this... but I'm not. This is the soundtrack to my own personal hell. Nope!
Kaksi viimeistä ovat final boss -tason haasteita. Ensimmäinen niistä oli itseasiassa ehkä levyn kiinnostavin biisi. Sitäkään en kokenut tarpeelliseksi sisäistää kokonaisuudessaan.
Didn't like this kind of music at the time and I don't like it now.
no more Tomorrowland background music I am begging you
1. forever - 1 2. duck feet - 0 3. true - 1.5 4. crazh - 1 5. zcienze - 0 6. numberz - 1 7. uuazzer - 0 8. zecondz - 0 9. here - 1.5 10. attached - 1
Just found this very disappointing compared to their earlier work. Felt like an AI Musak compilation of some decent Orbital songs.
Kind of ok until the peeing noise. And then the ticking noise. I quit
Most of the songs sound like a kid playing on a Casio keyboard. There’s one cool kinda industrial metal-ish song, but it lasts for about 30 seconds.
no
If I'm ever in the mood for a trippy electronic album I'll go to this one. Unfortunately I'm rarely in that mood
Ten tracks, seventy-five minutes, and an infinite supply of bleeps and bloops, all arranged as if endurance itself were the point. Snivilisation wants to pass off sheer length as profundity, but most of it sounds like studio-bound knob-twiddling in search of a reason—oh right, drugs. The duo’s techno maximalism collapses under its own weight, with ideas stretched so thin they become ambient wallpaper for people who think staring at oscillators counts as enlightenment. “Science Friction” almost works—the tempo perks up, the electronic clutter briefly coheres—but one tolerable track doesn’t justify this much sonic sprawl. Less civilization, more self-indulgence.
I assume you have to be off your tits to enjoy this, because listening to it sober on a Wednesday morning, it is utter garbage. Couldn't finish it
Lame
I didn't make it through. Too much random noise, not enough music.
dunno, some basement stuff right here
I couldn’t listen to this … straight up trash.
While listening to this, there were fleeting moments when I was reminded of ambient music in various video games - but without the joy and excitement of actually playing one. Apparently Orbital DID appear on a few games, so perhaps they should've done a full career change and leaned as far as they could into making soundtracks. Because listening to their music on it's own is not enjoyable. At all.
Before listening: I guess with 1001 albums there's going to be a lot of artists I don't know. Snivilisation is another one. Released in 1994, it looks like a pop rock alt album to me, based on the cover. I don't even know what to expect here. After listening: Electronic instrumental. I got the hell out of there pretty fast.
Album # 48
Mechanical music is not for me.
Was the list hacked?
Nope
Yeahhh no
No
Not for me.
Not my cup of tea.
Two albums from these guys on this list? I have questions Robert Dimery...
Reminded me of the SNL skit featuring the Sprockets. “Do you want to touch my monkey?” Don’t love techno and did not love this. Spent most of my time looking forward to the end of the album.
I do not like them on a boat, I do not like them with a goat. I do not like them, Sam I Am.
Repetitive shite.
Nope
Annoying electro, babble
Oh my God, weirdness out of control.
When this came out, I was already deep into Autechre, Aphex Twin/Polygon Window and Coil. This as wimpy compared to that. Still is.
Drugs necessary.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Nope. Nope nope nope.
Artistic but not my jam
Boring.
insufferable: i wish i could give it 0.
This was painful to put myself through. I like electronic music. But man, this one just went on and on and on, it was so repetitive with nothing interesting going on. Half the time the thing that was being repeated is just annoying to listen to anyway. I was so relieved at one point when I noticed there were only two songs left to listen to. But you can imagine my disappointment when I realized that those two were 15 minutes and 11 minutes long respectively. Nearly 30 more minutes of uninteresting and sometimes unbearable music. Awful. Absolutely awful. But at least it was *sometimes* good. Very rarely. 2/10 Top 2: 1. Forever 2. Quality Seconds

The budget of a lot of countries couldn't afford the amount of acid necessary to make this an enjoyable experience.
Y'all are tryna make me hate electronic music or something and I do not appreciate it. Put this one back in the 90s.
No thanks.
Bleep bloop. Nope. Dont like this!
I thought I liked Orbital, I didn't like this.
Normally love low fi music and it helps me focus but honestly couldn’t do it today. Might be the caffeine, but my anxiety was hightened listening to this album. Ultimately many of the notes put me on edge. I know that this is a me problem… but there’s just some lowfi/house music that sets my brain off this way. Not a big fan.
A load of crap
Did not like.
Repeative beats, Techo club
Horrible. Barely more enjoyable than the sound of Stevie grinding metal at work. Really hoped they would turn into a Metallica tribute act when I saw Sad but True. Not enough words and too many weird noises for me.
Nope
FO. Fuck Orbital.
trash 🗑️
Bleep blort. I am techno music from the 90s. I think I am futuristic and cool. Dee deet blort. I make a bunch of noise that I think is music. This is how I recycle garbage. It sucks. 1.4/10
I can’t believe how many of these albums this list continues to include.
I set the expectations bar low and this proved twice as boring as the worst electronica. I was driving ffs! While waiting at the lights I started nodding off.
68 of 1001 Snivilisation - Orbital Favorite Track : NONE Rating : 1/5 More electronic "music". Not for me. This is just sounds. It can't even be classified as music.
Hipster hotel lift music. Apart from - ahem - Quality Seconds, which sounds like someone sat on the sequencer. Terrible cover artwork, too.
This makes more sense hearing it in a field rather than sat at home streaming through the AirPods. Even then I'd need some pretty strong drugs to get through this shit at 3am in the morning. If it wasn't for the GUSHING of the techno fan boys, this could quite easily be a mixtape from a dodgy early '90s pirate station.
I'm not that into electronic music, unless its Ronald Jenkees, but I'm surprised this was on the list because I found it fairly boring. Was okay as background music I guess, but I can't say anything good about it.
video game soundtrack ngl skippable
3 1 stars in a row. Save me. I just had this "band" a recently and here we are again. Was there a third? Maybe. It probably sucked too. I could barely limp through this. Please, no more of this stuff. I know there's electronic music that I enjoy, some a great deal, this isn't it. This is the worst.
I like electronica and it’s one of the highest rated genres for me on this generator, but I couldn’t finish this album. I also really like “Halcyon and On and On”, their most famous song, so I probably just like the commercial stuff, but this was just too long and boring for me. I don’t understand the appeal of this at all.
music to eat 20 benadryl and robotrip to i'm on track 6 and it started becoming insufferable to listen to about 3 tracks ago I made it to Kein Trink Wasser and have never been so relieved to hear normal piano sounds aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand there are the wubs again, ok that was maybe the one decent song so far, kind of a bop, despite the wubs genuinely a miserable listening experience from front to back, there is not a person on the planet who i would recommend this to, actually fried my brain, i am stubborn enough to listen to the entire thing, but no one else should, whoever decided this should be on the 1001 albums before you die list must have meant for it to serve as a point of comparison against the midtles (the beatles) yeah hey jude is not that bad now, the sun will shine a little brighter tomorrow maybe now that I have experienced this
No, man. I’m sure that they’re excellent live, but I felt bored. I wanted to like it.
The average track length is 7 and a half minutes. God, fuck the 90s sometimes.
Yeah I’m not listening to this😸
1.5
Just don't like techno beats. Not for me.
I enjoyed nothing about this album
This is one of those records, for me, that shows that someone who isn’t that talented musically, but good with technology, can make a record and sell it as music. Nothing stood out, nothing wowed me, this could have been video game music for some children’s game.
Sticky hands will always be the coolest thing there is. 3 Ok the last song is absolutely unlistenable, fuck that 1
Edm
I tend to like instruments albums but this one didn’t do it for me. More annoyed while I listed than I thought.
Thank God that album is done. I must preface this by saying electronica/techno isn't my favourite music, but this album was very dull and almost painful to listen to. I am not one for long drawn out songs with no lyrics, I find I tend to loose focus. A few weeks ago I got the album Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield, which is two instrumental songs, ranging around 22 mins each, and that album managed to keep my interest because Mike kept changing tempos, and adding in layers of sound and different instruments. All Orbital did was maintain the same slow shuffling beat throughout the whole 1hr 15min album and changed up a few spacey sounds and bangs/pops. The vocal samples that are looped throughout the album sound like they were taped from late night documentaries and infomercials. Maybe if I was tripping on ecstasy I may be able to tolerate this droning nonsense, but I doubt it. Favourite song: if forced to pick one, Crash and Carry. It had a not bad beat (the first song to actually have one on the album), and it only droned on for 4mins Least favourite songs: Forever, I Wish I Had Duck Feet (the end of Forever, into the start of I Wish I Had Duck Feet there is this God awful wet rustling/rain sound that is awful to listen to), Philosophy by Numbers, Are We Here?, Attached 1/5
The worst kind of relentless album
Jesus fucking Christ, there is entirely TOO MUCH electronica on this bloody list. I really do feel like if you've heard one electronica record, you've heard them all. Why are there so many?!? I hate this.
First album to feel actively annoying
Too long and weird.
Honestly I hated it
Utter shite
1/5 not my tunes at all
Are there any actual musicians here? This is just a bunch of repetitive sounds with some melody trying to peek through. I could have it on (very softly) as background music, but I wouldn't go out of my to listen to this style of music ever. It's soulless.
Not for me. Sounds like the electronic equivalent of elevator music. Tracks are too repetitive and not distinct enough to stand out
Música electrónica que no me gusta
In places this sounds like it was made on 'Music 2000' on the PlayStation 1. it is also unrelentingly dull and uninteresting. Just so, so boring. 75 minutes long too. Such a slog to get through. Urgh. To give some credit though, Orbital do have cool glasses. 1/5
Boo
Totally nothing special. Are these albums there only because they're Bri'ish?
Nope.
This is just not good. Like experimental techno music. 3/10.
unsettling repetitive noise. had physical symptoms of anxiety while listening. pass.
I couldn't get through the first three songs. Not my cup of tea.
ugh no not for me
It was just plain weird. It was very out there and used a ton of non-traditional sounds. Just didn’t work for me. A 1 maybe feels a bit harsh, but it’s closer to a 1 than a 2.
None for me thanks.
1.5 | Techno!!! TECHNO TECHNO TECHNO TECHNO!!!
Early electronica. Not a fan
Not a fan
I like my electronic music to sound like it was made by someone on 4 hits of acid and doesn’t know how to use traditional time signatures. (Aphex Twin).
One of those situations of what to do when the artist makes reasonable music but one of the members is an unethical scumbag. There’s enough other good art in the world so I choose to skip this.
