Reviews (page 11 of 13)

I have previously listened to this album before. It's a good album overall and has some truly fantastic songs. Wild World is truly magical, and Father And Son is also notable. While I do enjoy the full album, it is not something I come back to frequently.

really chill, feels like it's missing something though mayb 7/10

Songs to sing by the campfire with a guitar.

Not something i'm used to listen, it's actually one of the music genres i dislike, but this album is kind of great and also is really easy to listen 'cause is not very long lasting. Personally i don't think this is really great, but it has some good songs in it.

I don't know exactly why, but I liked this one. It's calm and peaceful

This one defined a 3 star for me. It was nice to have on, but didn't grip me. Nice music that was pleasant to listen to. Nothing more, nothing less. B+ album cover (apparently Cat Stevens drew it himself, which moves it from a B to B+ for me)

kinda whatever about this one, didn't really grab me

Didn't expect to like it as much as I did, Wild world is an absolute BANGER, the middle of the album got very boring and same-same for me however

Pleasant for the years but no masterpiece

The first two tracks lie somewhere between a kids’ movie score and a musical. For me, they feel a bit too soft. I enjoy slow-paced music, but they didn’t catch my interest. After his famous ‘Wild World’ I started slowly getting into the record though. I can hear some David Bowie and Bob Dylan in it. It is a peaceful record that can fit the mood and is worth playing occasionally.

i know it's good but i think i'm just not in the state of mind to appreciate it

Another album that I know I’m supposed to like much more than I do, but I still do like regardless. 3.5/5

i'm sure i'd connect with it further on in life, when i reach proper adulthood but for now, just a sweet collection of folky tunes

After a dismal vocal offering from the first track, this album settled right into 70's easy listening. The album was OK, but a far cry from the polish of someone like James Taylor.

its v classic. good, bet for some reason i can’t remember it very much 3.5/7

For what it us, not bad, but I can't get past the singer songwriter style.

Who knew that half of Jack Black's vocal stylings in Tenacious D were just aping Cat Stevens?

i have listened to this album prior ngl it was pretty boring but sweet 3

Not very compelling overall. I am just not a fan of his voice and style. Still, better than I thought it would be, and I enjoy "Wild World".

Correcto.

Tea for the Tillerman starts with the promise of a sentimental journey with "Where Do The Children Play?" coupled with the cover art, and although I did get lost at times within the overall arrangement of the album, I found the ride pleasant. I would be unlikely to listen to this album front-to-back often, but I will be listening to the hard hitters again, of which there are several... "Miles From Nowhere" "But I Might Die Tonight" and "Tea For The Tillerman"

This was one of the first albums I bought with my lunch money when I was in high school. Seeing him live was my first concert. His music really spoke to me at that time. It's still a good album, but feels dated to me now. Still, 3 stars for the memories

There were several well known songs. It was relatively short. The other songs were just there.

Lovely…. Surprised by how much I enjoyed this one! 6.8/10. Just pretty and relaxing and nice.

A solid album front to back, nothing too remarkable but a nice listen

Though not overly appealing to me, this was a good album based on voice, and musicality (seems like it's a word). Overall too slow for my liking.

Easy listening, but the recording is superb and the songwriting is really nice too.

Actually really nice

-good instrumentation and recording, nice warm sound -some ok songs, a couple of stinkers, and a few slaps

It was just okay. I expected a little better. 2.5 gets the bump to 3 for Father & Son

I hate Cat Stevens' voice, find much of his music to be overly sentimental, and I refused to listen to this album. I'll give it a 3 because I recognize his cultural significance and I know he's done a lot of great work beyond just music, but I don't love the music.

Not what I was expecting, but ok

The old head who works mornings at the corner market I buy my coffee beans from is always bumping some Cat Stevens and 70's folk first thing in the morning, singing along, having a grand time. It makes me wish I felt so strongly about this sort of music, pleasant as it may be. This is really nice singer-songwriter stuff, pleasing like a cup of chamomile tea with just the right amount of honey. There's just enough of a spiteful edge, and some cliche dynamics give a hard-nosed bent to what is mostly paper soft folk music. Catch me on the right springtime morning like today, or settling in to a nice road trip and these soft dulcet tones'll sound so nice.

Pleasant enough acoustic album, with Father and Son and Wild World (of course) being the standout tracks. 3/5

Et sted mellem 3-4 stjerner. Kunne måske godt finde på at høre igen.

First time listening it’s all right. Solid song writing I don’t understand stand all the fuss.

That's ok, no more, no less

Outside of "Wild World," I actually didn't care for a lot of the songs on this album as much as I expected to?

Enjoyable folk-pop with two huge hits amongst other pleasant and well written songs.

does not contain his most popular songs but a good album start to end

not my genre

I don’t know what to call this genre of rock/singer/songwriter, but it’s not my style. It ends up feeling pretty generic and very similar to a lot of other projects. That’s not to say that it’s not a serviceable album, just not for me.

This whole week has been filled with solid, good musicians. However, and as it is for Cat Stevens, there are lots of solid, good musicans out there. As a singer songwriter, Stevens has a MASSIVE dose of competition. They all have room at the table and there are a couple of wonderful songs on this album that are worthy of his place there. However the table is rather long and he is down there among them. As good and professional as he is it still only gets him to a "yeah, he is Ok." place.

It’s fine, I suppose he’s a great songwritter. Gets quite boring but ends up being an easy listen.

Sounds very 70s, not terrible but not my thing. Has some bowie vibes

Didn't feel super impactful, and there wasn't a lot of variety. Overall it was fine and had a couple songs I enjoyed, but I will be forgetting the rest of the album very quickly.

Not gonna be my favorite. His other album is a little better, but just not for me tbh. Low 3

This album feels heavily influenced by the likes of The Beatles, Bob Dylan amongst others. I don’t have many qualms, as this is right up my alley. Wild World, Hard Headed Woman and On the road to find out were my stand out tracks for me.

Cute it is just cute picnic music. It starts a bit slow but it reminds me a lot of cats and the Cradle like sad dad music Divorced dad music for sure

Not the worst album on here, but definitely not the best. I found that I was able to get through it without getting irrationally angry.

Beautiful songs, sweet sound, but a little boring. Better to listen in the right mood.

Some great songs but overall lackluster

Schönes Wochenend-Fruhstuck-Album

Hm. Best: Sad Lisa, Miles from Nowhere, Father and Son. Worst: Where Do The Children Play?, Longer Boats, Into White (Lyrics)

oooooh baby baby it’s a wild world - some guy named cat

I love Cat Stevens and there are some classics on this, but I cannot give it a super high rating.

So calming. Trying this journey out. Not sure if I can make it to the end... But I guess I'm not forced to listen to all of it. ALSO THIS MANS MUSLIM NOW?

Was just kinda underwhelmed?

Dont really remember it. Though I enjoyed it

Very folky. All the songs blend together and thematically similar. Better than bob dylan. 3.45

Nostalgic

Reminds me of Paul Simon. Not really a fan of this guys voice.

Not bad, reminded me of some Elton John

Great melodies and solid songwriting. Not quite my type of music to have a higher rating.

Chill album and a fun listen but didn’t particularly move me in way I expect some of these albums will. Overall an excellent combination of instruments and vocals for easy listening. The hour flew by fairly quickly.

decent.

Decent folk album

Nice vibes, but didn't find it super memorable

In keeping with my music tastes, if a little cutesy! Cat's limited voice can begin to grate, but he makes up for it with pleasant if a little forgetful for me, melodies. Into White was surprisingly nice, and Wild World's little scale run is still great fun! Long Boats though gets real annoying to me and Father and Son is little overplayed....

- Country psychedelic - Wild World… wow, listen is worth it for this tune alone - Feel like I should be more impacted by the album than I am as a whole , folksy music ain’t really my thing but I can appreciate this still - “i know when I find my honey, it’s gonna make me feel good.” - But I Might Die Tonight… okay this album is special… maybe I do like folksy music? - Losing steam, maybe I really don’t hahah - Glad I listened, prob won’t re listen to anything besides wide world and miles - 7/10

Tea for the Tillerman By: Cat Stevens Genre: Country Rock Date Ranked: 04 . 01 . 24 Where Do The Children Play?: 7 / 10 ☆ > He has a calm and kinda wholesome voice, similar to Bowie in a way. I think the lyrics are rather wholesome too, and seem kinda strong in some moments. Overall, I think it is a pretty nice little song, maybe it’s just not my genre, if you will. Hard Headed Woman: 6.75 / 10 ☆ > Well, I’d say this one is a bit more lively, I kinda like it, however, I’d say that lyrically, it is losing to the previous song. Wild World: 6.75 / 10 ☆ > The singing at the beginning is not great, however, from there it kinda picks and gets much better. Like, I’d say it is kinda catchy, I kinda like it. Sad Lisa: 6.75 / 10 ☆ > Beautiful music, sounds sad and melancholic, I love it. The lyrics are a tiny bit cheesy, but, overall, it is pretty good. Miles From Nowhere: 7 / 10 ☆ > Hmm, this one is quite nice. I like how nicely it flows from the slightly quicker parts to the slower ones and again. The lyrics? Quite nice too. But I Might Die Tonight: 6.5 / 10 ☆ > Well, that was short, and, to be honest, it was just alright. Kinda weaker than all the previous ones, if I have to be honest. Longer Boats: 6.5 / 10 ☆ > Okay, honestly, I am not a fan when stuff is sung like this. So, yeah, this song is no exception, not a big fan, sorry. Into White: 6.75 / 10 ☆ > That’s cute and everything, but, like, felt extremely short in terms of lyrics, personally. Still, I like the music in this one. On The Road To Find Out: 7 / 10 ☆ > Fair enough, this one is quite good. Like, it is nice, and the chorus is nice, I like the thing with “on the road to find out”, it is nice. Father And Son: 7 / 10 ☆ > Wholesome life advice, I think it is well written, love it. Tea For The Tillerman: 6.75 / 10 ☆ > I liked the loud part, but it was too short overall, unfortunately. Total Percentage: 67.954% —> 68% (Round Up) Average Song Rating: 6.79 / 10 ☆ Best Song(s): > Where Do The Children Play? > Miles From Nowhere > On The Road To Find Out > Father And Son

Hard Headed Woman, Wild World, Father and Son are highly significant. Where do the Children Play also is quite good. His voice on this album is about as clear and lucid as he's ever had it. It's a highly significant album. I've been listening to it for 35 years. The middle songs aren't nearly as good..

The hits are great, but too many others are slow and boring.

Reminds me at times of Nick Drake, which I like.

I like Father and Son. The rest of the album just sorta makes you think "I guess every artist has to make an album".

This is gentle, country, folky music. Not really my thing, but this is a decent version of it - Wild Word and the ending (Father & Son / title track) are unsurprisingly the most popular tracks on the album, but the rest is decent enough too. Doesn't outstay its welcome, but doesn't do enough to really excite me. A middle of the road 3/5.

Good listen but forgettable for me. Expect 'Wild World', great song. Needs a relisten, I could see myself coming round to it.

magnificent

The songs I did not know were consistent with the style of the ones I did know.

Look at me, I am old. But I'm happy. Damn, this line really hit home today. Made my mind go back in time and think of a lot of people and a lot of times. Brought some damn tears to my eyes, some joy and and even some pain to my heart. I thought this was a very good song. I also really liked track #1, Where do the children play? But in between, a lot of slow, uninspiring guitar songs. All I could think was Bluto smashing the dudes guitar in Animal House. Wild World is the only song I have heard before and think it's OK, but mostly meh, like most of this album. It was a nice enough listen, but just not really my listening pleasure. I'm struggling with a number on this one. Not really a 3 for me, but it wasn't anything I would immediately turn off, either. 2.5 Scoreboard will show a 3 for the thoughts and memories the Father and Son song triggered in my head.

Cat stevenssi muutamaan instanssiin kuultu... liekö unohtnut instannssit heh ON UNOHTUNUT... unohdettavaa musiikkia myös.... ei toki huonoa.,, respektiä miekkoselle,,

Enjoyable, well written, and overall tight. It just doesn't do a great deal for me compared to the other singer-songwriters of the age.

Not really my thing, but it was pretty good and what I expected.

Nice feel good soft rock. The song writing is good but none of it would really bring me back. Maybe I’ll take a lot of heat for this review

Easy listening!

Man can write a tune. Some duds in the album though.

it ends up one note, outside of the 3 bigger noteworthy songs

Not as many familiar as i would have thoight. Hard headed woman tight

Ágætis kósíplata.

Good album, not my style but can appreciate

Father and Son and Wild world are classics but not too much else interesting on this one.

It was alright

Quintessential acoustics early 70s

Pretty okaty.

Enjoyed the instrumentals and found it a cohesive album but didn’t enjoy his vocals so wouldn’t rush back to listen to it

In high school, I had an ongoing flirtation with a guy who loved Cat Stevens. The whole thing was a deeply hurtful and negative experience and even though I literally never think about that dude anymore, apparently it soured me on Cat Stevens. It seemed like a good album, though.

No, Tea for the Tillerman is not a children's picture book like the cover, title, and artist name might have you believe. It's a surprisingly good folk album that made me feel a Lost In The Dream level of relaxedness. While I don't think this album is as good as that one, It's still a chill and relaxing album with some good lyrics. Best Song: Hard Headed Woman Worst Song: Longer Boats

Good but dated

Enjoyed the melodies, nothing too revolutionary. Nothing stood out lyrically but it was a pleasant listen. Very satisfying bits from the acoustic G at moments. Would listen again, but not often.

53/100

Very happy vibes. I liked it.

nice 3*

A bit too slow and acoustic for me, but some good vibes at some pointti.

Boy I hate the album art for this. So so much. But otherwise I'm mostly enjoying this album.

Lovely album. Some songs I recognised. I’d listen again.

An all around timeless folk album who's brisk runtime feels like a lot more time than I had time for. I won't say anything new or revolutionary about the great Cat Stevens. He's a great songwriter, and the world is better with his music in it. But it's a little too plain for me. This album just feels..."there" to put it in a word. There's some clever and thought provoking lyricism, even if half the album feels cringeworthy just because of how much we've heard the same proclamations coming from folk artists about the ever-decreasing state of society, but the songs are just kind of songs. I'm very middle-of-the-road on this one.

Wild world and father and son are two incredible songs. Downloaded sad Lisa from the album. The rest didn’t stand out too much. They all sound pretty similar, which isn’t necessarily bad because they still sound good, just not good enough for me to download

There's almost a childlike feel to this. It's simple, but effective. The arrangements are nice, but don't do more than allowing the vocals and story to be told. I enjoyed it, but don't think it's anything I'll come back to. Favorite tracks: "Longer Boats", "Wild World"

Still holds up after 50+ years.

It was ok, not really my style but I liked a few songs

Good stuff from Cat. No surprises for me on this album, having grown up listening to Wild World, which represents this album well.

Opnieuw luisteren ajb

Listened in the office and on the train. A train took a while. Man leaning on A train. Lots of thoughts and feelings even though simplistic. Ended at 145th street.

simple music, but artful lyrics

Lisaaa

Very folksy and soft, pleasant to listen to

I listened to this one while I was driving from Hays to Travis County this morning. I definitely liked it more than the last Bruce Springsteen one. The album started pretty strong for me and I was nodding along to the first several. The back half of the album took a dive. I didn’t recognize any of the songs but I think either the first song or Wild Woman (I think it was called) was my favorite. Not a terrible album and my favorite so far (out of two lol)

Really liked Longer Boats and Father and Son. The rest were fine I guess

I’m surprised that I knew a few songs in this album even though I had no idea about album and artist. Very good songs !

A light, thoughtful album, didn’t really grab me

"Where Do the Children Play?" was a good opener. Great build up in intensity. "Hard Headed Woman" had a nice section with some dramatic drums. Good song. "Wild World" had some great music. Another good song. "Sad Lisa" was fine. Nice piano. "Miles from Nowhere" had some great contrast between the sections. Great ending to the first side. "But I Might Die Tonight" was a fine shorter song. "Longer Boats" had a good, unexpected intro that I think was better than the rest of the song. There was a great drum fill into the final chorus. "Into White" was decent. "On the Road to Find Out" has some nice backing vocals. Good song. "Father and Son" was a great song. I loved the two different perspectives represented by the two different vocal registers. The title track was a good closer, calling back to the first track and ending with a nice chorus of vocals. Decent album.

Classic album some killer some filler

Not bad. Could hear some similarities to other songs like Jethro Tull.

Decent album. Slower than I want, but still great.

Was okay, I guess. Went by fast. + Wild World + Sad Lisa + Miles From Nowhere + But I Might Die Tonight + Father And Son

Very sweet guitar playing. It feels very warm and personal, and is the perfect album to lift my mood as im getting about my day. Wasn't expecting to like it much- not sure why I was just hesitant to press play, and im glad I did. (Press play, that is.) We all have our limits with acoustic guitar music so I cant believe that anyone has listened to this album in one sitting, but listening to a few songs at a time is making this enjoyable for me. I wrote more about this but forgot to save it so this will have to do.. overall a little bit boring as a whole but sweet all the same.

Where do the children play, Wild World

I'm not sure what I really want to say about this other than it's just really lovely. Lots of nice songs, quite delicate in its approach, and kept nice and short. As the songs are all well crafted and presented there's no bloat at all. 3.5 rounded down

Well… kind of pleasant easy listening, but lack of nerve

Another one of these "Legends" that I'm not hugely bothered by. I heard he was quite rude as well. And "Father and Son" has been ruined over the years with so many covers... I didn't mind it.

gostosim

Pretty good album for a genre that I’ve yet to really dig it or love it. Same instrumental and a pretty good bocals from Stevens. If I can rate this like a 3.5, I would

Good album

Kept my attention, nice and clean, enjoyed it

Soft and pleasant

Pretty good. Cat Stevens has a helluva voice, so even on songs where overall it wasn't my favorite, his performance always struck me as great.

Nice enough album. Goes a bit harder than I expected w/ the guitar percussion. I enjoyed it fine, but don't really see myself coming back to it. 3/5

Yeah so Cat Stevens is actually pretty cool, or at least some of his tracks are. His voice is a little too nasally for my taste in some tracks, but it’s at least sincere and he’s able to have variety in his melodies which counts for something. I get it. C

Two of the songs were alright. I can't say this is a favorite of mine. But. Yeah. I like this. Singer songwriter simplicity is good.

Apparently when I was an infant, I wouldn't go to sleep unless my parents put Cat Stevens on. Whether that's a mark for or against his music is debatable, but I enjoyed this album well enough. "Hard Headed Woman" and especially "Wild World" are classics, and while the rest of the album didn't wow me, it was enjoyable to have on in the background.

A sincere album with strong lyrics. Favorite songs: Wild World, Father And Son

Tea For The Tillerman was a pleasant listen, and while I half-expected Puff the Magic Dragon to make an appearance by the end, I’ll give Cat Stevens a pass. “Wild World” is a classic, and listening to it deeply now I realize it sounds like both an escape down a spiral staircase and a reluctant jig on a giant piano. Either way, it seems like she wants to leave, so she better take good care. Hopefully she makes a lot of nice friends out there. One line in particular from “Father and Son” will always be relevant, and points to the Achilles heel of Gen Z: We may still be here tomorrow, but our dreams may not be. Stevens establishes himself well beyond his years, and it is a nice tune, but I do wonder how he would have thought to sing this stuff when he himself hardly had hair on his nuts. Tea For The Tillerman reminds me of a stroll through the Microsoft Windows background. You know the one I’m talking about. It’s a wonderful album, but just like I wouldn’t go out of my way to skip through a meadow, I wouldn’t go out of my way to listen to this record.

Lullaby kids music. "Wild World" and "Father and Son" I had heard before. Likely on some movie soundtracks

Acoustic folk, nice and calming

"Wild World" is such a bop. The verse chord progression is amazing- if I'm hearing correctly it's mostly grounded in a minor tonality but has a great V7 chord that concludes the progression and smoothly brings it back into the first chord. That's really neat to do with a chorus that is much more major tonally and overall brighter. "Miles From Nowhere" is a cool track and sounds like a raucous folk rock Neil Young song which is always something I dig. I love how hard hitting the piano performance is. Break those keys! "Father And Son" is beautiful. Lyrics are sad and heartfelt and it's a really lovely track. Solid 3/5 for me. The other tracks outside of "Wild World" and "Father And Son" don't really do enough for me to think it's anything higher than a 3.

nice, but not my cup of tea

Nice songs to listen to while working.

This was good. I don't know if I will listen to it again, however.

A lot of sleepy songs, but the second half of the album really picks up; Father and Son is an obvious standout.

Definitely not a fan of the voice. It isn't that big issue in more dynamic songs, but ballads with guitar and vocals only are hard to listen to.

Yeah, this album has one or two more recognizable songs. And what? Is that all?

Nice. Didn’t really speak to me, but I’m hardly the target audience!

nem bom e nem ruim

This album really evokes my childhood in the 70s - it's deeply embedded. It has been a long time since I listened to it, and I enjoyed it. There is some substance here.

We're certainly in Dad Rock Heaven now! I'm conflicted about whether to give this a 3 or a 4. On the one hand, it has three genuinely brilliant songs, and his melodies are great throughout the album. But on the other hand, several of the songs have terrible lyrics and made me physically cringe (particularly Long Boats). I don't see myself returning to this anytime soon, but I won't be too upset if it comes on the radio. I'm feeling rebellious so I'm going to go with a 3. 6/10

Almost unbearably twee and naive — takes a child to know a child as in “Wild World.” But the nursery rhyme quality sticks with you, infiltrating your mind, until one day you’re doing the dishes and unknowingly humming the title track to yourself.

Good vocals and good melodies. "Wild World" is always awesome.

Don't know why but not really feeling it. Not bad of course, but doesn't really do anything for me either. Also heard "Wild World" too many times, so it has lost its magic.

Not my taste, but definitely chill music I can get behind so yeah it's ok

It was ok

It's decent, especially compared to a lot of the other circa 1970 nonsense that's on this list.

Yusuf/Cat Stevens is here to steal your folk girl.

I truly enjoyed this record, although starting off amazing it lost some of that throughout. Father and son came at the right time but overall simple experience nothing special or bad. best song: wild world worst song: longer boats overrated song: none underrated song: sad lisa

Feel-good music

I thought this was just ok. Not horrible by any means, but if felt like a lot of the songs were similar enough to play all at one almost in perfect harmony. I think this would be a solid album if I were into this type of music

Musicianship on point. Wild World and Father and Son are very good. Nice sounding stuff but boring at times.

Some great songs on this album.

The good songs are good, the less interesting songs are a little dull.

The first few songs had me worried, but it picked up pretty fast. Not much of note here for me, but an enjoyable, relaxed listen. My favourite song was Wild World.

It’s just fine. I would say most of the songs don’t do much for me, but a few were quite good and memorable. 5/10

He wrote some popular pop songs. Here's an album. He seemed pretty bitter about his lady leaving him, that sort of thing. Not terrible overall, but I wasn't really feeling it.

Nothing bad, but nothing special. Too folky for me in general

kitaran rämpsytttelyä...laulun lorinaa... kynäveikko...veikka...veke...osaa esseitä tehä.. varmana lautkaunta...lautakunt.a..tuomaristo...lautamiehet.... tykkäisi father and son

-First track is fun( WHERE DO THE CHILDREN PE-LAYYYY ) - Otherwise not memorable

Genres: Folk Rock Formed: London in 1966 Run time: 11 songs, 36 min 48 sec I haven’t listened to the whole album, but the first half was very chilled and relaxing.

Bit one paced but pleasant enough

Pleasant but not super interesting very much a product of its time.

I had expected better from Cat Stevens, but then after a few tracks I remember that even his most famous songs are quite whiney. I also didn't like the sudden loud bits for literally no reason. Felt like I had to change the volume a few times. I guess 2 stars but I'll give it 3 for the few better songs.

Kinda nice, kinda boring, kinda mean-spirited sometimes.

I've started liking folk more due to this challenge and I like some songs off of this but it kind of becomes samey after listening to the whole thing Saved tracks: Wild World, Longer Boats, Into White

I only initially recognized "Wild World" from the tracklist. Enjoyed this one far more than I expected (and quite enjoyed it, at that!). This a beautiful collection of acoustic songs that offers impassioned performances about spiritual discovery. It may not be ambitious for envelope-pushing, but this kind of sincere songwriting is more than enough to leave a lasting impression.

Some of it is perfect and classic. Some is meh. 3/5

Great lyrics but a bit boring? Ask me again in 30 years xx

Some intensely important tracks of the rock'n'roll vernacular reside in this album, like 'Wild World' and 'Father and Son' - but maybe because in my childhood some of these songs were hijacked by 'cool guitar Catholic Mass' that I kind of balk at listening to them. It's not the album's fault - the music is great - the songs are tremendous, but I can't digest due to their association.

Easy to listen to, although Yusuf took himself so seriously that at times he sounded like Jack Black.

Lekker lief

Pleasant I guess

Cat Stevens makes such whelming music but it is pretty good. This album doesn’t have peace train which I think is his best song but wild world is also great and hard headed woman is solid. His songs are quick catchy and fun. Overall this album has some replay value. 7.4/10

overall not my favorite style but Father and Son is an all time banger so that adds a star.

Лучшая песня — Wild World, мотив которой позже частично повторили Pet Shop Boys с It's A Sin.

Mér þótti Cat Stevens mjög skemmtilegur í grunnskóla, en svo fékk ég einhvern veginn nóg og missti áhugann. Og hann hefur ekki komið aftur. Wild World og Father and son eru hvort tveggja mjög góð, hitt rennur ljúflega í gegn en gerir lítið fyrir mig.

Wakes you up at the end

Decent

Beautiful folky sound. Lyrics that flow like poetry

had some bangers that i remember from my childhood the rest of the album kind of mulls together

I really like Cat Stevens, but was surprised on how much this album didn't captivate me. I felt like a lot of the songs were just average filler. 3.5/5

It’s a pretty album

ok, nothing to write home about

I enjoyed this, like I do most of Cat Stevens music. It's nothing earth shattering, but the songwriting is great and the composition works well.

Cat Stevens. Very unique voice, catchy melodies, solid lyrics. Nothing that stands out about him necessarily, but these combined make him quite the folk/pop singer. Solid album.

3/5. Some bangers but several songs that fall really flat. Even Wild World is not great despite it being a popular one.

Very chill album.

I like cat stevens

Father and son is ridiculously good. Everything else is pretty good, a few songs are a bit too hokey for me. Last song is a huge anti climax

Kinda nice acoustic folkish album. Drags out a hit for me. Great stuff in it

Folk, Soft, Acoustic, Peaceful, Poetic, Calming, Tranquil, Subtle

Really good but I prefer Teaser and the Firecat.

This was a perfectly fine album that I don't have much to say about. Father and son is my favorite and the rest were listenable

Only ever really familiar with the hits from Yusuf Islam, so kind of cool to listen to a full record, though "Father and Son" certainly looms large over this. Pretty chill record to listen to.

Great album, but not my favorite type of music

Boring child like songs, that doesn't include the catchiness of children's songs

Ytterligare en platta med många klassiker.

5/10 Highlights: Jacqueline Michael Come on home

Where do the children play?, Hard Headed Woman, Wild World

Miles from Nowhere is immediately going into the Playlist. Didn't resonate too strongly with me otherwise but that's purely opinion. Decent album.

Pleasant, a little dull. Has most of the Cat's hits on it though, that's nice.

Pretty good! Love his voice! Best songs are:Where do the Children Play, Wild World, and Father and Son

First track is alright. Reminiscent of a Beatles song. Second track was more my style, especially around the 2 minute mark. Sad lisa was pretty consistently my favorite throught the song. most tracks on this album hooked me on the intro but failed to deliver in the remaining duration of the song. Overall 3 stars. Not exactly my style but it was objectively good

A nice and relaxing album.

Not exactly my usual listening, but quite enjoyable. Will probably listen again every now and then, and will check out his other stuff

A fine Cat Stevens album. He was in his prime, here.

Haven't listened to too much folk but I can handle it. 6/1001

good relisten value but frankly i think it's just ok

6/10 - Best Songs: Where Do The Children Play, Wild World, Father and Son, Tea for the Tillerman

Lovely, peaceful, beautiful folk music. 7 of 10.

Decent lyrics. All ok.

Firstly, no one can argue that Cat Stevens has a truly outstanding voice. It’s powerfully vulnerable and elevates him above the rabble of bland folk singer-songwriters of the era. This album just didn’t really do it for me overall, however. The great tracks speak for themselves but it didn’t really grab my attention for the whole run time. Will definitely give it a second listen.

It's a nice album. That's it. 3/5

Cat Stevens will always remind me of Auntie Susan even though I don't know if I ever heard her listening to it but we did at her funeral. This album however, had songs that reminded me of other things! Sad Lisa is a sort of joke song my wife, Lisa, told me about and Father and Son is from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. There are other cat stevens albums I've enjoyed more than this one but it was still a nice little something just as the album cover indicates. It felt very spritely and like it was recorded while he was walking in the woods. I really like that album cover.

Soothing heartfelt songs. Makes me have nostalgia for a life I never lived

Not a huge fan of his voice, but definitely some great songs on here 👍

It's a... It's a... It's a sin! Prefs: Where Do The Children Play?, Wild World, Miles From Nowhere, Longer Boats, Father And Son Moins pref: Tea For The Tillerman

Fantastic

Nice melody and guitar. Enjoyable to listen to. Cat’s voice and vibrato are not my favorite. Similar to Bob Dylan.

some good songs, others ok. stand out: father's and sons

Miles From Nowhere saved this for me. Phil Collins during the uptempo parts.

Slow and folky? Some decent melodies. Wild World is notable and known. Sad Lisa was pretty good. Father and Son was a pleasure. Album grew on me as it played.

This is that classic folk rock album that everyone knows the two singles to: “Father and Son” and “Wild World”. Two songs that jerk tears from sentimentalists everywhere, despite how trite the lyrics can be in spots. Ah fuck it. Just sing along! La la la la la la laaa la.

Preachy and too similar but respect to the songwriting

it was okay, i wasn't blown away or anything. It's a good album but I don't think I will listen to it again. only about one song that I added to my playlist so yeah. I was kind of disappointed in this. It felt like it was lacking something. Maybe the lyrics are the main point in this album and I am missing out because I didn't take the time to listen more carefully but the repetition kind of got annoying after a while. Maybe this is a good album to listen to while coloring or something like that.

Good relaxed tunes

Not.my type of music. But a few songs were enjoyable. Didn't save anything and the "hot" songs were not the ones I would have chose.

You are young. That's your fault.

ask not for whom the tea tills, it tills for thee

I smell eight track cassettes owned by my Dad.

Really enjoyable. I was familiar with Wild World but nothing else. This one was inoffensive, but not enthralling enough for me to add to library. Songs added to Playlist: Wild World

Cat Stevens seems like a hippie, but his politics don't negatively impact this record too much. I love the singer-songwriter tone that is present throughout, but some songs are a little too repetitive and the melodies are a little annoying. My opinion might change in the future, but right now I really like Father and Son. I also like Where do the Children Play and Tea for the TIllerman, although the second one is more of a short closer.

big singer and piano tunes, late in the game for getting into this though

Solid album. Really good storytelling.

Genre: Folk Pop 3/5 One of my mom's favorite artists, and her favorite album from him, Cat Stevens' (Yusuf Islam's) Tea for the Tillerman is absolutely adorable and a real sweet treat. Meant to be enjoyed in moderation, as too much over a short period of time may have adverse effects, including hugging every stranger you see on the street and/or happily whistling during each of your daily tasks. While being a total sweetheart, and an album with some big time hits on it (Wild World and Father & Son are two of the biggest tracks in the genre, not just Cat Stevens' career), it didn't quite go beyond moderate enjoyment levels for me. Totally accessible, and one of Cat Stevens' biggest triumphs overall, this is an album for the casual listener, as well as the uber folk fan, but it isn't going to blow anyone away. Decent.

A good album with a few real standouts but with some weaker spots here and there. Still, it's easy to see why it's considered a classic.

Very nice standard folk album. Nothing enough to break everything in one's path, but very enjoyable.

It's alright. Unfortunately I just hear Take That on Father and Son

not bad

Nice album

The slow 70s. Stevens get this album done in under 40 mins. Some folks say it's his best, but I'm not that big of a fan.

Cat Stevens - under-rated. Retired far too soon.

6.5/10 - Wild World is a top song

-"Miles From Nowhere" gets moderately heavy -"But I Might Due Tonight" is a cool tune. The "you say so" part is cool -"Longer Boats" is nice enough -I like the intense-ish drum bits and the semi-yells in "On The Road To Find Out" -I want to say 4, but it is pretty darn slow and I don't really care to listen again...

Wild world is a classic but I’m not much into cat Stevens

Good tunes

couple of bangers, the rest is a bit folk noncey. pleasant but nowhere near as fun as fat pete and his chubby happy little face. the cheeky scamp.

Yusuf innit. I can play Wild World on guitar, so there you go.

I do like cats. On a sliding scale of cats, from Lee Cattermole at the bottom to Thundercats at the top, this is somewhere in the middle. I enjoyed it more than I had expected to. I probably wouldn't rush to listen to it again but it was less bland than I had anticipated.

3/5. listenable

For intensely hippy stuff that was radio-played to death in its heyday, this still stands up pretty well.

I've only heard a few Cat Stevens songs before, but I didn't know they were Cat Stevens songs until listening to this record. I enjoyed moments of this album, but as a whole it's quite a snore-fest. Nothing against Cat Stevens' talent, as he's a wonderful songwriter; It's just not for me.

Good Sunday morning music

ok, bit too folky for my tastes hard heraded woman and longer boats are best 2 songs

Sounds like a 70th's album. Two classic songs including One I didnt know the wrote
