Reviews (page 7 of 7)

Pues eso. A mí no me gustó pero de que son unos adelantados a su época lo son. Suenan más vigentes que The Offspring.

proper hardcore punk

Middle of the road punk record. Aggressive sound but not much else to recommend.

@@. boring punk.

9 songs, 21 mins. They come in, trash the place, then leave before you get a chance to form an opinion. Maybe that was the whole idea of punk, 'quick get it done before anyone realises!' It's all basic punk, enjoyable for a little bit. They had a great band name, but I never understood why they're considered better than lots of other punk.

I generally like punk rock, but I am more of a pop punk fan. This was the precursor to that. Not really for me.

Not my cup of tea

not my thing

1983. Key Songs: Betray, It Follows, Look, Back & Laugh

I appreciate what Minor Threat is doing here, but this sound isn't for me. I just can't get into it.

No! Make it stop! Just a bunch of noise and none of it sounds good. Had to turn down twenty notches just to get through the album.

Every song sounded the same…yawn.

favs: cashing in rating 0.6/5

Too hard core punk. Don't like it. Too much screaming

320/1089 just not a fan of this, it just doesn’t do anything for me personally unfortunately 18/100

Awful. Thank god it's short. 1/5

Only redeeming quality was that it was just 20 minutes long, yet that still felt too long.

Not a fan. A lot of noise that was not done well. Not surprised I had never heard of this band.

Boring

Horrible noise

Sheesh this is awful. Its just ranty kid stuff huh.

I’m not much of a fan of punk, and the only thing I liked about this album is how short it was.

As somebody already wrote on here: I get it, but I don't like it. That perfectly sums up my feelings towards this. I hate disregarding music as just 'noise' but to me, that's all I got from this: loud noise.

Punk Rock Music Ruins Day: 46-year-old man dies on treadmill. Man found dead with Minor Threat playing in his AirPods. Garbage music believed to be the cause of death. Man leaves behind family but goes out with his music taste intact.

Hard and fast. Can’t say this one’s my favorite. (9 songs, 21 mins)

Glad it was only 20 minutes.

Hard pass. Noisy, a lot of screaming, and not much else going on. Thankfully it was short.

great cover art. too raw for my taste

Worse than big pink by quite a lot

Whole lotta rubbish punk shite

Couldn’t make it to the end - awful!

- Yeah, it's not for me... I can't see myself ever wanting to listen to this, even when angry -- this isn't the way my anger feels, and I don't want to be around anyone who is feeling this way. - The "singer's" voice is annoying , which ruins everything for me - it's just yelling the same out of tune "notes" the whole time, and I have no idea what he's saying except motherfucker, boo fucking hoo, etc., and I don't care. - I found the songs to be completely forgettable. I can't find any compelling melody here, and I don't really care much about the instrumentation, either. - It's maybe 1.5 because there are moments when it's a little engaging, it's definitely ahead of its time, it's short, and it's not as bad as being totally boring, but I'm rounding down anyway.

sorry but it was just so viscerally unpleasant to listen to seven self-indulgent complaining songs interrupted by one song complaining about someone else complaining.

Prior to this day, I had only known their song "Straight Edge", and I wish that's all I knew about them. Their only studio album is 21 minutes of ear torture. Favorite Track: "Look Back And Laugh"(at this album).

20 minutes might be short for an album, but it's long for a panic attack, which is what this felt like to me.

If I was stuck in a room, listening to this on repeat, I would genuinely lose my mind. It's a very effective torture device.

I had to put a little thought into this review. Did I not like it, because I'm not really a fan of Punk, or because it's shit. I decided I didn't like it because it's shit.

knew i wouldn't like this from the first song. dnf :/

Not for me, only 22 mins and even that felt like torture

I really don't like punk

please stop giving me punk albums they're all garbage

all the tracks sound the same im so pissed that i wasted my time on this

There are only three or four punk rock bands that don't sound the same and this is not one of them.

Nein, geht gar nicht.

Well... it's a punk album. You already know it will be everything just one note but you will like it anyway. For me, it could be better. Like, you don't want a hysterical boy screaming out loud on your year. neither do I.

Blind album and artist. I actually got a migraine listening to this so im just gonna put a 1 and move on.

I got this on Christmas Eve. It is not the vibe for Christmas Eve. Not sure when this would ever be the vibe TBH though. At least it has the decency to be exceptionally short.

20 minutes was too much, gave up after 10 and listened to the roadworks outside their musical ability was much better. Absolute rubbish.

Don't care for this album. Just just like a bunch of yelling and screaming. Did not enjoy it.

Low effort bs, the vocalist can't sing

Standard high-speed punk. No like. Also, not sure what makes this “music” unique. A 1.

Never, 1/5.

De razoável somente as partes de baixo. No geral, Punk gritado e ordinário. Dispensável!

Tällaista brittipunkki -mitälie huutamista ja kitaransoittoa. Sen sellaista

Yesterday I had this screen open and my 8 year old daughter came in. She said, "Group Sex? Circle Jerks? Minor Threat? Dad, this is bad." She was right. That was the longest 20 minutes of my life.

It didn’t take long for me to realize that American Hardcore was not for me.

Schreischrott.

This felt a little too much like being screamed at by a skinhead for 20 minutes. The tracks totally bled together. When I checked Spotify to see how long to the album was left, I was shocked to realise I had already listened to it twice. I hold this minor threat in low regard. 💫

Out of step for sure, pure crap. And I enjoy some punk, but this was just the same song with a minor chord change and slightly different lyrics. Thank god no song was longer than 3 minutes. "Cashing In" had some flash, but not worth a full listen. I could feel some influence on bands like Danzig and Offspring, but that's where the compliments end. 1 star

Hardcore punk is not my thing.

Maybe they invented the hardcore punk scene in DC but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.

Hardcore usually consists of: a hyperactive drummer, a guitarist whose main talent is being able to keep up with said drummer, a rotating cast of bass players, and a shouty guy telling you to make better life choices, all while riding around in an unheated van and surviving on pizza. On this album, Minor Threat blasts through 9 melody-free non-songs at record speed, only deviating from the template by doubling up on guitarists and by focusing the lyrics a bit more on soured relationships than the usual haranguing of the listener about their bad habits. (MacKaye can't resist a li'l of the latter on "Out Of Step", though.)

It’s noise

nieuwe artiest ontdekt, niet voor dit album maar bij de andere liedjes zat er wel wat tussen

Every song sounds the same! Same tempo, same drum rhythm, same terrible screaming.

Dreadful. How did this make the cut? Thankfully it's only 21 minutes.

Even with the short running time of 21 minutes this album was still too long.

Little impression on me.

i don’t like this kind of punk

On the day after Dave Cousins of The Strawbs left us I had no stomach for this stuff. I did give it a cursory listen but first few tracks confirmed what I feared. Anyone who knows the music of Dave Cousins and similar will know why i cannot give any truck whatsoever to Minor Threat or are they called Out Of Step - who cares. 1/5 14/5/25

absolutely terrible album, it may have been a trailblazer in the punk space but what a horrendous listen, 0/10

Oh dear.

I was interested in this because I enjoy the punk vibe, but I didn't like this at all. Would not listen to again.

Not a good album. Just a bunch of noise and ridiculously loud guitar.

I hate punk music. It's just noise with no melody, the vocals are harsh sounding and unpleasant, the lyrics largely unintelligible. I was shocked at how recently this album came out too - surely this gimmick wasn't even novel or transgressive by this time? At least it was mercifully short

just doesn't stand the test of time

So much Punk all the time...

Didn't really like this at all. No stand outs for me

hardcore punk, 1983 -> 1

I am not a friend of punk. You add hardcore to it we are enemies. Thought it was just one long song and the album is so short, whats the point. I read that it was influential for some genres of music that followed, such as Skate Punk and Thrash Metal. Do I look like I care?

Sinnloses Gebrülle! Schon wieder Mist!

Personal choice: I like more polished music..

Unrelentingly terrible.

Nope, no thanks. This level of hardcore punk was fun to me as an angry youth. Not so much today.

Not a punk fan

Bæsj på leggen, du er en dårlig Turboneger Eggen

Love the album art

Unlistenable, frankly. It's a tough exercise because I just can't with certain genres but it might be the best of it's kind

Major ugh!

1/6 terrible

The best part of this “album” is that it’s only 22 minutes long (hardly a full length LP). Nothing interesting happening here, can barely understand the lyrics. It sucks

(I wrote this review for this album and then accidentally left it on Def Leppard Hysteria instead so…) Shout out to the album cover. That's the best part. The fact that 8/10 of the similar artists section on Apple Music also have black and white group band profile pics that look the exact same as theirs says a lot about how unique and special this music is. I honestly struggled really hard finding a song I’d be happy having in my best of playlist. Just boring and loud.

American punk album where it all sounds the same. Gave up after 3 songs

Hard-core punk

Just noise

I just discovered I don't like punk.

I'm happy this album was short. I'm happy it was short because of how bad I wanted it to end. The vocals were annoying, and everything was very repetitive. I did like some of the heavy bass lines, especially at the beginning of the first song, so it gets some pity points for that. This album gets a "The Next Day" by David Bowie out of 5. 1.25 Favorite Song: Cashing Out just for the cool bass line Least Favorite: Everything else

Annoying punk. Luckily it's only 21 minutes long

Dan - Shouty punk. Not a fan

Thrash Punk? Maybe they were influential but this is crap!

Christ

1001? That's as many people that showed up to their live shows over the course of their career. Yeah! A band that was super influential to a shit genre of music. Whooopie! The people that need to listen to this already have and they have shite taste in music. I deserves less stars than I can give it.

Straight shouting for 20 minutes.

dit is voor mij te hard.

No no no. 1?

I cannot tell you how little I enjoyed listening to this once or how much I don’t want to listen to it again

Very little distinction between tracks, could just as well been a 21 minute rant. True to the hard punk genre this album was a presentation of angry yelling & when the “artist” was seemingly at a lyrical impass the “F” word was inserted liberally. Understandably clear why this was their one & only release.

Nothing like being screamed at for 30 minutes

Not my jam

1. betray - 1.5 2. follouuz - 1 3. think - 1 4. look - 1.5 5. ztory - 1 6. reazon - 1.5 7. friend - 1.5 8. ztep - 1.5 9. cazhing - 1

Cashing in was a great tune. I had to wait to the end of the album to get to a song with meaning and not just noise. I did not enjoy this album. No Melodies and pointless lyrics. Favourite song: cashing in Least favourite: tracks 1-8 Album artwork: I love the album cover

I don't need something like that. Minor!

Would I listen again: Best track: Worst track: Surprise awesome track: Weirdest track: Lyrics: No skips?: Cover art cool?: Notes: Kind of scared to listen to this album I know nothing about it or this band other than it’s punk I think? I’m not a huge punk guy even though I love heavy ass metal music. I don’t find ounk that engaging nor do identify with many of themes of punk. I’m anticipating that production will suck. The guitars and drums will sound like shit and the singing will not be pleasant. Uch this is what I was afraid if. The production is better than I thought but I just don’t care about this kind of music. I could t do it. I bailed.

i find this kind of thing meditative (derogatory)

I recognize this is emblematic of the genre, I just don’t care for the genre. Noise, shock, and bad lyrics. Cool when I was 15, not interesting 25 years later.

Couldn't do it, sorry. Not on a Thursday, not any day.

No liked songs. Cons: Why are so many punk/hardcore bands allergic to singing (or screaming) in key? Why does the drummer only know 1.5 songs? Pros: Guitar and bass are competent and even have some interesting things going on. At least it was over quick 1.5

Zu wenig melodisch

Why is this album on this list?

Utter dross

boring as hell

Punk isnt my style of music. I have heard the same again and again and again...

The only worse than punk, is punk recorded badly.

This is the only studio album from this band, but the lead singer would go on to be the lead for Fugazi. This is pretty hardcore punk, short songs, dirty sounding drums and guitars, loud vocals. It’s not really my thing. I like punk that’s a bit more polished, I struggle with this ‘80s hardcore stuff. I recognize that it probably had a big impact on what followed, but that doesn’t really make me like it that much. Also like their whole thing I guess is “straight edge” punk, so they have all these hardcore songs but the lyrics are how they don’t drink or do drugs or have sex (literally the lyrics of “Out of Step”). A little odd, but sure. I guess it’s different than what was mostly going on. This is also only 21 minutes, and while I appreciated being able to get it over with quick and move on with my life, it’s barely a full album. This is definitely the shortest thing I’ve come across on this list yet, and I can’t imagine much being shorter. Favorite song: Look Back and Laugh Other: Cashing In 8/24/24

All Bad

I don’t know the angry person that enjoys this. Not me.

Not for me

Suffered through this one

People are screaming! Someone is really pissed off! Aaaaaaahhhhhhh ....

Well, that’s 21 minutes of my life I’ll never get back. Literally whiny punks. Hard pass.

Mercifully short

Exhilarating in a Dead Kennedys way.

OK, I did not like this whatsoever, but considering with how horrible it could have been it was not absolutely horrible. And given the fact that it was only 20 minutes I didn’t have enough time to realize how truly bad it was. I genuinely would never listen to this again though it’s not something I would ever enjoy however, I do think I’ve heard worse.

ansiedad

Unlistenable. Sorry, early punk is just not enjoyable unless maybe you were there.

01) Betray - 6,0 02) It Follows - 5,0 03) Think Again - 5,0 04) Look Back and Laugh - 4,5 05) Sob Story - 4,5 06) No Reason - 4,5 07) Little Friend - 4,0 08) Out of Step - 4,5 09) Cashing In - 6,0 TOTAL: 4,89 (49/100) 21 and a half minutes, now we're talking! I don't think I could take more than that, this is not something I enjoy. It's just plain shouting without a trace of any kind of melody. I know it's punk and that's the way it's supposed to be, energetic, angry and shouty, but I have the right to not like it.

No music - only noise!

Off key screaming trying to pass as singing. Hard core punk worth nothing redeeming about it. A lot of this list seems to be punk; hardcore punk, punk, post punk, neo-punk. I hate it all

Nope. Not for me.

Ugh. Another angry British punk band. Please, get therapy instead of making music.

Loud, noisy, yelly, profane, uninteresting. Didn’t even make it halfway through and this is the shortest album I’ve ever seen. One star.

Very loud and aggressive. Not really for me. The guitars were kind of nice but very simple. I think yelling has to be used strategically in music for it to be effective. Too much and it looses its power. 1 star

It wasn’t my cup of tea, most songs were very short and sounded similar to each other

Too raw for my taste

Not my cup of tee. I prefer old rock and roll. 1

Shouty rubbish. Sounds like every skate 3 song ever. Waste of twenty mins

I hated just about every second of that. The best thing about the album is that it’s only 20 minutes long.

Not for me

Out of the list would be better

Supposedly a very influential punk album but all it did for me was reaffirm punk is not suited for my ears

Like kje sånn masete punk

Seriously, where did they dig this shit out of?

I thought I could be open to punk. But I just couldn’t listen to this seriously. I can appreciate the genre but I really don’t vibe with it.

I don’t like this style of hardcore punk

Bloody racket

I might have liked this if I'd heard it when I was younger, but now it just made me say "stop shouting at me, ya wee prick" as I turned down the volume. Old age, man. At least the album was short. Under 22 minutes. If I were a fan I'd feel short-changed.

If I was captured by a terrorist group and they played this I would give up all the state secrets by the end of track one

Offspring leur a tout piqué mais dur à écouter

I bought one Hardcore album back in the day thinking I might end up liking it as much as early Clash or something. Never happened.

Forgettable. I picked it up today and from the description, which I always read, I realised that I had listened to it the day before yesterday, but I can't remember a single tune. Only that it is embarrassingly meaningless, both musically and lyrically. Let's move on.

An assault on the senses, though the green day Holiday riff was cool

Any of the following is an instant 1-star: -Roooooaaaaaarrrrrrr -Thrash guitars - Lyrics containing the word 'motherfucker' This pile of shite has all three in abundance & no redeeming features whatsoever.

The care they took to make every song sound annoying and exactly the same is something.

Miserable.

No. Not for me. No, I wasn’t fair; I skipped through a few tracks and failed to find anything that appealed to me. I’m GenX so I understand this music, I just don’t like it.

brb gonna go guzzle juice out of a drink carton straight from the fridge with my cap on backward. my skateboard is ready for my dad to trip over.

What a way to ruin the streak: it was just rubbish and there’s no other way to put it. So bad I don’t remember anything other than the first two tracks and the rest fades into obscurity. Won’t be coming back to political commentary in mediocre punk music.

This just felt like a bunch of noise to me, sorry to say, even with my tolerance for vocals I can't understand being as high as it is. I understand, and daresay I even tip my had to this album's conclusion, but I do not at all like it. Recommend it? Eh sure, why not. Low rating, I may give, but it was still a mercifully short scream fest.

still better than the beatles

Worst of post-punk. Why would anyone want to listen to this?

Punk is not for me

Apparently this is a hugely influential hardcore punk album. It's not an enjoyable listen but is mercifully short. Rating: 1.5/5 Playlist track: Betray Date listened: 13/04/23

thank the fucking lord this is only 20 minutes, if it was longer i might want to jump off a building. hope this endlessly plays in hell when henry kissinger dies 0/10

Saw another review that said “I get it, but I don’t like it” and that’s essentially it.

oh gush, pure noise. Nothing that captures me. First album that I stopped listening to.

I have two things to day. 1. The ad agency who did famously racist "Bye Bye Black Sheep" poster in 2008 for the Swiss SVP must have liked this cover art. 2. a bit harsh & industrial for me. as gentle as a nazi salute. Non merci. pas au jourdhui.

Not for me.

glad its short

Not my jam

There may be a couple of original punk bands that have brought something new to the genrel, but this band isn't one of them. It's just rehashing the old saying that in punk, you don't need talent, just attitude. Terribly boring and predictable album. 1/5

Betray - 1 star It Follows - 1 star Think Again - 2.5 stars Look, Back & Laugh - 1 star Sob Story - 2 stars No Reason - 1 star Little Friend - 1 star Out Of Step - 1 star Cashing in - 3 stars

There should be an option for zero stars. Thank god this was their only album

oof intense and fast

Didnt like it.

Did not like at all

11th August 2022 Listened at the campsite in Cornwall with Joe and Adna. Jen drove back to pick up tent poles 🙄 Don’t get it I’m afraid. Why has this made the list?!

Is this 21 minute EP worthy of being on this list? There are many albums and artists far more inspiring that are not listed. Just because this influenced a lot of American clone bands who've never even heard of the Dolls or Pistols (who were doing the same stuff 10 years previously to this) means they are insular and not revolutionary.

Loud immature angst

Not for me.

Listened to about half of the first five songs. It's punk rock. I hate punk rock. The guitars are actually pretty decent by themselves, but the vocals are so very atrocious that there's really no saving this one.

Punk is rarely my genre, and this didn't really pique my interest unfortunately.

This just isn't for me. I like the guitars and the rhythmic drive just fine, but the vocals - which, yes, I know are 'punk' - drive me up the wall. I can't do it and I can't even give an okay rating for historical value. This sucked.

Favourite Song: Cashing In

Pretty interesting story behind the album, it doesn't make listening to it any better though.

Could not understand a single word they were saying

Really don't get this get this genre, it's just a mess. Best track: Betray

Not for me. Escapes a single star rating, probably because it’s so short it was over before I got a chance to truly hate it

Didn’t like this one…. majority of the songs reflect self-reflection, youth frustration, personal problems and difficulties with friendships, Where I always try to think positive on life!!

Punk is just not my thing

rubbish

Quizás en su momento fue estridente o algo pero hoy en día pasa desapercibido.

Couldn't even finish this god awful

Amerikansk 90’er hardcore punk, råt, progressivt, kort, undergrund

Not really my cup of tea
