Never in my life would I have listened to this album if it was not for this website. I can see why its on here though as its good. the singles released where big hits but there are some great songs on here to get the emotions going. I *may* listen to this again

Ik vind dit best wel goed te doen. Het is pop, ik ben duidelijk niet de doelgroep, enzovoort, maar toch staan er slechtere albums op de lijst. Het klinkt nog niet zo gedateerd als ik had verwacht, de productie klinkt zelfs nog best aardig. Christina kan goed zingen, ze doet minder irritant dan Britney of Mariah, en die clip van Dirrty wil ik toch wel bestempelen als trashy doch iconisch. Ik moet wel zeggen dat 20 tracks (77 minuten) echt veel te veel is. Ik neem aan dat zelfs de fans vinden dat er nummers tussen staan die gerust weggelaten hadden kunnen worden. Terwijl ik het luister heb ik niet echt zin om het helemaal af te gaan zitten luisteren, maar tegelijkertijd zit dit voor mij nog wel een stukje af van de bodem van deze lijst. Ik hou het op 3 sterren.

Lyden av et 2002 jeg ikke hadde så mye med å gjøre. En del bra, men også litt larmen av en hvit kvinne som skulle ønske hun var Beyoncé.

Hørt på vei hjem fra blårock. Mye attityde, fantastisk stemme. Litt for mange kjedelige whatevers, men hitsene er så sinnsykt sterke. Min første innkjøpte platekompaniet-singel kom faktisk fra Aguilera, så dette er barndommen min. Dessverre er 1/3 låtene her sykt booring.

Pop med litt av alt attåt. Umulig å bli klok på hva hun vil med musikken sin. Blir masete på slutten.

Well not my cup of tea, Qobuz version is really poorly mastered, very low dynamic range, way too bad to be enjoyable..

Back to Basics was too long for my tastes, though there was a good album in there. Stripped is too long as well but there is a good album in here even with the length. Stripped is a great example of why I think no albums younger than 10 years old should be on this list. Stripped got mixed reviews upon its release and then it turns out to have inspired a generation of singers. Therefore, it became an important album and worthy of inclusion on this list. The distance from when the album was released gave it a perspective that wasn't present in 2002. Again, there are a lot of good songs on here but the album is weighed down by the volume of ballads and music that should have been cut. I choose albums to keep in my personal collection from this 1001 album listing but it does get hard to keep an album like Stripped which has 4-5 too many songs. 2/3 border, I guess. Liked Infatuation and respected the vulnerability of I’m OK but the dozen generic female empowerment ballads bog this down

It’s certainly better than I expected because I expected a disaster. Songs like Dirty kinda save it.

Why is this album so fucking long? It all sounds like one song, broken up by Beautiful. Did people really love this?

Peak Christina. Absolutely not my bag, to be honest, but all respect for the power in the voice and the presence. A variety of songs, but a cohesive album. Unfortunately, I'm just not keen on the genre. If you haven't heard the G Sweet remix/mash-up of Dirrty and Upside Down (Diana Ross), though, you've missed out. My review is an objective one.

I need to tell you about the time someone did an awesome version of Beautiful at our local karaoke night. I don’t really remember how this happened but she ended up crowd surfing round the whole pub while still singing. One of the best things I’ve ever seen and I’ve given Christina five stars in gratitude.

Is this an album I would have listened to if it weren't for this project? Absolutely not. I'm so glad that I did; sometimes getting your head out of your ass and not dismissing something because it's popular is good for you.

Liked it a lot! Very much kinda alicia keys so i loved it!

I can imagine that if I had listened to this at the time it came out, I might not have appreciated it as much—but as I commented to my wife over days of listening to it (77 minutes is kinda long), it's surprisingly good. Christina has a powerful voice, and she simultaneously shows more emotion and more restraint than I expected. There's strength and vulnerability, and while it's not perfect, there are some songs that are fun listens. It's so much more than pop.

Undeniably amazing voice when it's fully used. Hope she has a long career and continues to diverge from the Top 40 pop and into more artistic performances.

I really thought that I would like this album more because Christina has an incredible voice. But I was just left wanting more. Sure, there were some jams. but I'd rate this a 6.5 or 7 /10. which is still in the 3 range.. I did save Dirrty tho.

This overstayed its welcome a bit. But honestly there’s a reason she has sold as many records as she has — this is extremely solid pop music. And the album has a surprising amount of variety, too! Enjoyed it. 7/10 Quite Likeable

This is the first time going through these albums that I've skipped through songs. There have been albums I haven't liked and have even given one star to. But this is aggravating. Just because a pop star makes an album that isn't completely saccharin, that doesn't make it great. There were some hits on this album, but nothing on here, including those hits, are particularly memorable. Songs like Make Over might end up being memorable due to how awful it is. Aguilera is certainly a talented singer, but these songs are awful. I can't believe this album is on this list. There's nothing wrong with pop or even unserious music. Something like Justin Timberlake's Justified is a great example of a pop album that's great. This is not that. This is just plain bad.

Gosh she has an amazing voice. Some great pop tunes on here, many forgettable! Dirrty is a BANGER. Whole album = Solid 3/5

Yes, Christina can sing. Quite well, in fact. So can Adele, Winehouse, Britney, Celine, Mariah, etc. I never understood why they rarely give them something interesting to sing. It's always hip-hop tinged r&b numbers or smokey lounge act or Latino tinged r&b songs or poppy Dancy bs. A song like Make Over on here is a poppy punk tinged song that was breath of fresh air with all the same sounding songs. Beautiful is a wonderful song that brings a positive body message. Fighter is a decent song as well. Dirty is a terrible song. I like the strong woman message throughout the album. 2

Je suis peut-être rendu un vieux boomer, mais je commence à avoir un malaise avec toute l'industrie d'hypersexualisation des jeunes femmes à peine sorties de leurs teens dans ces années là. J'ai bien compris qu'elle pensait 'prendre les choses en main' parce qu'elle le répète assez souvent sur l'album. Mais à la voir aujourd'hui je me demande si elle a réellement su se protéger du système d'exploitation sauvage qu'est le show-biz américain ou s'il s'agit davantage de beaux mots... Sacré Mickey Mouse! Super belle voix, j'adore son timbre. Et les diverses incursions stylistiques ne m'ont pas dérangé du tout. Même que ça fait passer plus vite le 1h15, durée risquée.

There’s nothing all that wrong with this album, but it’s really dated, it’s really long, and I really don’t care.

So powerful just not very diverse. Great songs and other songs that sounded similar but weren't as good.

Actually better than I thought. Not my favourite music but it has some pretty awesome songs.

Honestly, I'd never really realised how good her voice was until now. And it's not just some generic 2000s pop stuff either, some of the music behind her was really really good. My favourites were Fighter, Make Over, and Dirrty. The main thing holding this back though is it's length, but other than that I can't really complain.

Not my kinda everday listening, but this is a solid pop album. Also the voice of Chrisitina it's very top on all the songs. "Make Over" it's my favourite, it's very close to the rock of late '90 and initial 2000

This sounds good but inauthentic

This is OK. It’s obviously far too long, not really my thing, a bit over-produced and so on. But it’s OK without, for me, being overly memorable.

The singles are decent. But overall the album drags and I can't find anything that really distinguishes it from other pop albums from that time period. Her voice is great. I think the production and songwriting is a little uninspired for 2002.

its aight. grew on me then ungrew on me as the album went on. i respect it for infecting the culture with two or three hits that will get radioplay until long after im dead. favorite song is probably Infatuation

Rating: 6/10 I always appreciate when pop music shows up on the list, but I've never been a big fan of Xtina. But despite the bloat in album length and the weaker production, this is a pretty decent pop album, I definitely wouldn't be surprised if it's the best Christina Aguilera album. Cool that she has writing and production credits throughout the tracks. Maybe a case where the singles are the best songs; Fighter, Beautiful, and Dirrty are all memorable hits from the era, even though she can feel really like a lesser version of better Pop RnB stars at the time. But also the run after Fighter, with Infatuation between the interludes and Loving Me 4 Me was good too. Definitely fun enough to say I enjoyed it.

With so many songs and so many genres all crammed in, it was really difficult to get into this. She clearly has some vocal chops, and the songs in and of themselves were not awful. But just like most of the sounds in this 90s/2000s genre style, this stuff is pretty disposable and forgettable.

Stick to the singles and hits. Really tough to listen to a full album of this. Seems to be a common theme for me for similar artists around this time frame. She has a great voice so perhaps unfair but this just isn’t that good for me. 2.5

I too think ladies should be able to give out blowies without being called a whore. But I don't need an hour eighteen minutes of it. This album is a solid 40 minutes too long. But I'll give Xtina credit for the hits and rate in line with ...Baby One More Time. 2.75/5

I actually appreciate the song Beautiful, and perhaps Fighter might work in certain situations, plus Dirrty is fun because of Redman. Other than that it’s a pass for me

Tune after tune! A rare instance of the two most famous songs being some of the weakest. They're the catchiest for sure, but the album is really wall to wall great with much more stirring stuff than those two. Soar is particularly excellent.

R&B pop is straight up boring

As is the case with many a pop album, there are some highs and some lows on here. Almost all of it is on the upper end of quality for 2000’s pop. “Can’t Hold Us Down” was a great tone-setter that I wish she could’ve maintained for a little longer. “Make Over” was by far the lowlight, which is unfortunate because the instrumental is pretty interesting, lush production and some hooks that are well-written. But that chorus. It hurt. It really hurt. All can be forgiven though, as things slowly picked back up. “Dirrty” was a nice jolt to the system, a song that actually had some real teeth. Some solid female empowerment anthems, songs about intimacy and loves lost. All prevalent y2k themes. Par for the course for this era of pop. A few great jams. 3/5

I've never been fond of Christina Aguilera as a person. However, there is no denying her talent. There's not a singer like her out there, and, though this early 2000's pop sound doesn't necessarily show it off to the fullest, her voice really is beautiful. I think the album was a bit long, but I personally really enjoyed it. It brought me back to an era I really loved as a kid, and the hits off this album still hit just as hard today as they did back then. Yes, nostalgia plays a factor in my ranking, but I really just found this to a be solid, enjoyable experience. Just a bit long.

I don’t think I’ve ever listened to this much Christina Aguilera in one go and while I probably never will again, I didn’t hate this

Came in with an open mind but I honestly didn’t find much to enjoy. I’m a pop music fan and I love r&b and singer songwriters but this sounded so firmly in the early 2000s with the music and song concepts. I didn’t hear anything that would make me think Christina was separating herself from the similar artists of the time.

I wouldn't even rate this record if it weren't in the 1001 albums you must hear before you die list. So, getting that out of the way... It's a good pop album that has moments of catchiness and a lot of "girl-power" lyrics. Problem with that is it doesn't resonate with everybody. It's an "artistic statement" that has Christina (Xtina!) coming of age. It's ok, but I won't be revisiting it anytime soon.

I remember when this album came out. I only ever heard the radio/ tv singles so I thought it was going to be much more of an album with dance songs in the vane of “dirty”. I would have preferred that. Instead I found it long and slow between songs that I knew. It was fine.

Gets a bit long by the end

This is no doubt a well produced and polished album...it sounds very nice. Many of these songs were radio hits in the early 2000s and, in that regard, are familiar. This becomes its undoing to an extent - the music feels tied to that era (dated) and discourages interest in listening now. I applaud CA's strength in sharing and encouraging others through her experiences - there's more legitimacy here than her peers of the time. Doesn't mean I'm going to put this on ever again. 3/5.

Not a bad album in my opinion. I would say it’s a bit bloated but her voice carries the music when the instrumentals aren’t as interesting to me. I don’t deny that this album inspired a generation of pop artists. Overall the album was okay.

She has amazing vocals. She may be the last of the big sound female singers ( no offense to Adele)

This is exactly the kind of commercial music I avoid. Yet I did my best to approach this album with an open heart/mind and willed it to change my mind. I really tried. I'm not a quiet listener. I talk about what I am hearing. And I did a lot of 'fuck no' complaining through this. I can't even work out why I had such a negative reaction to it. It's clearly musically accomplished, tight band, big sound. Just feels like fancy dress to me. I'm still gritting my teeth and listening because I promised I would listen to all these albums from top to bottom but it is making me feel sad/uncomfortable. AND ITS SOOOOO LOOOOONG. It has to be a 1. Sorry Xtina. Glad that so many people buy your albums that I don't have to feel guilty that I don't like it. Total number of tracks 20 !!! 'Fave' track: Make Over. Easier listen than i thought, but definitely some really dated and generally bad choices. Was caught of guard a few times by some of these songs, the more R&B rooted ones. Always felt like she could have marketed herself better. Maybe more like a Winehouse instead of the bad Brittney Spears or whatever.

Life is too short to listen to even 30 minutes of this bullshit

Dang! Surprised by how much I liked this. The collaborations and hits are solid - lyrically pretty cool as well - not just “im a hot girl with problems and feelings” songs. Album was too long. Soar was a great tune. 2.5 stars and rounding up. 3 stars for sure in this genre.

Initially I thought, 'why the hell does Christina Aguilera need to make a 77 minute long album?' I was expecting a good 50% at least to be dross, but it wasn't. It was consistently quality throughout and far surpassed my expectations. I should not have underestimated Miss Aguilera.

i listened to this album constantly when i was 13 years old and being bullied at school and let me tell you, there are a LOT of songs on here about loving yourself and rising above the hate and spreading your wings and soaring and how it's all gonna be ok and your brokenness will not define you and all of that feels REALLY sustaining and empowering for a 13 year girl who's being bullied at school. things changed for me and i got better friends and basically stopped listening to this album once the bullying stopped and haven't picked it up again in two decades until now. it's not perfect, it's messy, it's way too long, it's FULL of emotions and it probably saved my life in a way. i have to give it 5 stars.

This was quite the 77 minute journey. Where it took me is hard to say. Other than Beautiful, I can't really remember much of anything of what I just heard. But the opening track led me to believe the whole album would be about Fred Durst, which it doesn't seem like it was. But maybe that's fine?

Dj no, I have shit to doooooo.) Fak, kok typical (for the time in izvajalko), kr nek intro ma album. V spominu sm imela, da je "Can't Hold Us Down" boljši. V bistvu je kinda beden. Lil' Kim prou leno rappa. Kul seamless prehod iz whatever je bil prejšnji v "Figther". Ok, ta se mi zdi še kr kul. Njen glas dejansko sede na mal bl rockovsko musko. Loh bi mela čist drugo vrsto kariere. Pol kr nek interlude v španščini, čeprav sm glih brala, da ženska ni nikakor fluent in so ji mogl napisat kako se izgovarjajo besede, ko se je lotila v španščini posnet album. "Beautiful" je še zmer čist kul. Ok, "Make Over" je literally komad od Sugababes. Še creditane so. Pa njihova verzija je boljša. Wtf je ta unnecessary verzija?! "The Voice Within" mi je znan, zdaj ko ga slišim. Pa, honestly, še najbl všečen do zdaj. Đizs krajst, kdaj bo konc? (Lol, zadnji komad je)

A fun listen, a nice throwback, way too long. But I enjoyed the personal lyrics, the touches of vulnerability, the wide-ranging genre sounds. Not bad at all.

I have a soft spot for Christina Aguilera, and this album is so good. Her voice is amazing - love that she took this direction after her Genie in a Bottle era!

I wasn't expecting anything great when I first saw the average rating on this site. Turns out people just hate pop music. It's actually a good album, with a lot of variety. Probably not something too revolutionary considering it is fairly "recent", but even giving it a 3 seems a bit low. Maybe a 3.5/5.

Ja, om eerlijk te zijn weer hetzelfde probleem. Waarom zo gigantisch lang? Tbh wel hardere bangers, maar met hogere pieken, ook diepere dalen. Conclusie na deze 2 albums is denk ik dat ik simpelweg niet zo'n fan ben van Christina Aguilera, mijn excuus.

Vele malen beter dan de vorige (Back to Basics). Nog steeds bloated en inconsistent.

I thought this started pretty well and was actually quite enjoying it up until Loving Me 4 Me after that it just seemed to be a series of generic pop ballads after that. It was better than the other record of hers on the list and it was interesting how lyrically uncompromising it was in places but ultimately I tapped out pretty early and won't be going back to this again.

This could have been a much stronger album if 20 minutes was cut off. There are some songs here that I really like. But the whole thing is just too long, and with the album being pretty inconsistent it ends up being a drag to listen to. The highlights on this one made me look at Christina in a new light though.

Honestly, much better than I was dreading/expecting. I SOOO much hated the onslaught of young pop divas that happened in the 90's. Thin little keyboard music and a young girl showing off her range and trills, etc. I was surprised that there is actually a range of styles on here. While some folks apparently don't like a singer playing in a different wheelhouse, I love range/variety! Now while nothing here is going into rotation for me, I can at least appreciate why people would like it. It could stand with a bit more editing. 1 hr 17 minutes is crazy! She definitely has a strong voice and I appreciate the restraint in not constantly hitting high notes, trilling, and melisma that was ubiquitous in this decade. So, having said it's better than I thought it would be, I can't really give it more than a 3 because really, where's the music? It's only here as a backdrop for her voice. And that's fine. But it doesn't bear repeated listening. I'll be kind and give this a 3.

Not my genre.

Christina Aguilera has an incredible voice. She can belt, she can riff, she can do those acrobatic vocal runs. If this album is primarily a showcase for her singing, it’s very effective. But I found most of this corny, at least from a modern perspective. It feels dated and very much a product of its time. Of course, this is going to hit very different for someone who has more of a nostalgic connection to it. Gorgeous production throughout. This is a classy pop album with a lot of live instrumentation. And “Beautiful” is a great song. Okay, “Dirrty” just came on and the nostalgia officially hit. This song is such a banger. I was watching TRL when this song was big, so I’m hardwired to be unable to resist it.

This album really is quintessential 2000's pop. It has that uber clean compressed to hell production, scientifically formulated perfect song structures, it checks the boxes of having songs with certain vibes that you had to hit with pop in this era- the angry / fight song, a sweet piano ballad, and a sexy song, and all the meanwhile it moves further away from the 90's bubblegum sound. Overall, I like it. Sometimes the songs here come across as a little corny. "Fighter" is a solid pop song from this era, with really nice production, a fitting overdriven guitar, and a good performance by Christina. But hearing it now I picture it being a perfect song for a workout class for grandmas. Maybe at the time it was a little more... i don't know how to describe it.. real? Part of me feels biased to not like these kinds of songs because I grew up playing music with distorted guitars, and it always stands out to me when musicians who don't normally use those kind of aggressive timbres incorporate them into their music. Like vocalists will put on a big fake gravelly raspy tough voice and it is worse than if they would have just done their normal thing. If you're covering a Louis Armstrong song, you don't have to "do" his voice, you know what I mean? "Beautiful" is a great song. This too feels a bit dated for me to hear ~25 years later, but I recall many times being a teenager in these years and seeing that a lot of girls around my age really resonate with this song... so who am I to say as a 12 year old boy then and a 36 year old man now that the song is corny? As an aside, I listen to plenty of corny music and never expect everyone to not cringe at it. If this song had one self conscious teenage girl look in the mirror and start to see themself in a more positive light, then that's awesome. And I know for a fact it had that affect on more than just one. This album is between a 3 and a 4 for me. I've rated some better albums than this a 3, and some worse albums a 4. To me, this leans just a bit more towards a 4.

I remember when we’d hear “Beautiful” playing everywhere. that track alone doesn’t hide from social issues about identity, self-image and expression. Christina Aguilera is immortal because of that song alone.

Only two things worth noting here. 1) Aguilera does have an exceptionally powerful soulful and sultry voice. 2) Alicia Keys is great on the piano on the one number she’s featured on. Beautiful is a highlight.

Ik vind de r&b nummers wel leuk. Maar bij lange na niet r&b op zijn best. Als het hele album alleen maar r&b was, dan was het nog een best aardig album. Alles op dit album wat niet met drumcomputers en synthesizers is gemaakt is niet leuk. Met als dieptepunten de grootste hits’ You’re beautiful ‘ en ‘fighter’ tenenkrommend. Het album duurt ook te lang, je bent dan na 3 nummers die zangtechnieken en toonladders wel zat.

Jaren 00 waren maf, grote obsessie om ultieme popsterren te creëren. Christina Aguilera is een fantastische zangeres. Eén van de beste van haar generatie. Het album gaat alle kanten op, rock, pop, latin, ballads, r&b. Ze kan het allemaal maar tegelijk door deze extreme veelzijdigheid mist het identiteit. Alles is goed geproduceerd maar ook overgeproduceerd. Door te proberen alles te doen wat er ooit is gedaan krijg je een erg lang album zonder verhaal. Muziek van plastic zonder ziel. Het was wel een trip down memory land en zong perongeluk een paar zinnetjes mee. Desondanks kreeg ik een geen goede vibe van net als toen, de adlibs kwamen ook m’n neus uit. Is wel een album die je geluisterd moet hebben om te beseffen wat een rare muziek periode dit was.

In de Jaren 00 waren we het echt even helemaal kwijt wat popmuziek betreft, backstreetboys, spice girls, Britney Spears en natuurlijk Christina Aguilera. Tis echt cringe om naar te luisteren, didn’t age well. Kheb ook geen jeugdsentiment, vroeger als pubertje vond ik t ook al niet vet, helaas is dit ook prime CD tijd wat betekent dat artiesten langere albums konden maken. (k vond die Lets get dirty videoclip op mtv stiekem wel best wel hot)

A 78 minute album called Stripped is ironic. That being said, there's no denying that there are some bangers on this album. She can really belt it out, but I prefer a 'less is more' approach to that kind of singing.

2nd Christina album from the generator. And dear god, this kind of early 00s R&B is the worst thing ever, it's so deeply boring. Music that relies so heavily on the singer's vocals that it gets tiring after a while. I do like good vocals but I never cared about them in pop. The big hits here (that I somehow have never heard before) are such nothingburgers. Xtina literally made exactly 0 cultural impact to me 2/5

This was a great album. I didn’t personally mind the length, because it feels like more of a journey in a way. Her voice was just beautiful, and there were multiple different songs on the album. It’s probably around a 4.5 for me, but I’ll round that up because I don’t give pop music enough credit.

Amazing Feminist Album that clearly inspired a lot of modern music. It feels like each song is a direct inspiration for a lot of female pop songs I hear today.

When I was growing up I never much paid attention to the pop singers of the day, but I was always aware of how great Christina Aguilera's voice was. Listening to this album just cemented that fact for me. The album does go on for a bit too long, but it really doesn't feel like it has twenty songs on it by the time it's over. Just a solid pop album that doesn't have that many memorable songs, but it still sound great.

While there are some fun songs in this album, such as Infatuation, and classics, such as Beautiful, there are no songs I will be returning to in this album. I also think this album lacks a cohesiveness and feels for the most part unmemorable.

A fair, strong pop album. Enough variety in its influences and genres, funny that wiki says at time of release this was a knock that it wasn’t focused, that that was viewed as a negative. She sure can sing, and unlike say the Britney album I heard of the same period, the content of this seems more attached to the artist rather than a group of middle aged men producing. This is a good album, if a little too long. 4 Star

This is such a 2000s sound and it takes me right back to 2003 and middle school where these songs were EVERYWHERE. Good thing I can mostly look back on those troubled times these days and just feel a general ephemeral nostalgic vibe with few concrete memories.

This isn't really pop music, it's more like r&b with some hip-hop influences. Unfortunately, that's the sort of music I don't like. She's a talented vocalist as well, but her singing also doesn't do much for me. And I'm not enthusiastic about her brand of feminism. And the album cover is ick. And the song ‘Beautiful’ feels like an ugly lie in an ugly world. Favorite part: I guess Redman's appearance on "Dirrty" [sic] is decent.

I've been starved for music like this on this list, so I was inclined to like it. But honestly? It impressed me all on its own. Christina was 22 when she made this! The songs are bombastic, all energy, all emotion. She did that! Truly someone who was meant to be a star. It's long, but there's so much variety in the genres and styles, it honestly flew by. Hell yeah Xtina. I will be revisiting this one.

Strong vocally although the themes of the album don’t resonate with me. It’s a bit bloated. Fighter is a banger. Beautiful, although thematically similar to some other tracks feels out of place tonally.

It’s a solid pop album. The song Beautiful, and its video, elevate this album for me. Is it a mushy song? Maybe…..but her vocals are incredible. Rumor is the final version included on the album was actually her first attempt at the song. Say what you will about this era of pop, but Xtina is an incredible singer and her vocals set her apart from those with no substance.

This has many elements I usually don’t enjoy but for whatever reason they didn’t bother me here. It feels like guilty pleasure music. I thought the back half was stronger than the front half which helped me digest the long runtime. Rating: 3.0

Sure, like most people I really like "Beautiful", but the rest doesn't leave much of an impression on me. It's too bad that it's one of those albums that tries to use every second of the CD, because unless you're Janet Jackson doing The Velvet Rope, it's just a law of nature that you're not a good enough pop star to justify that length.

Let me start by saying this: I know virtually nothing about Christina Aguilera. I believe she’s a fairly major star. No fewer than two of her albums appear on this list. Why? I genuinely have no idea. This is absolutely dreadful. Utterly meaningless pop music, with not a single discernible quality — not even when judged by the standards of that particular corner of the music market. Of course, that’s hard for me to assess, and perhaps I’m just talking nonsense, since this aesthetic is about as far removed from mine as it could possibly be. So who knows: maybe I’m just a sad, whiny man with grey hatred. But surely this is just garbage? Just listen to Infatuation! Garbage. Horrendous garbage. Please explain to me what I’m supposed to find good about this. In Impossible we once again get 132 million octaves per word. Very impressive, completely unlistenable. There is no music here at all. Someone banging a cardboard box with a ladle — at least that’s what it sounds like — is the musical highlight. Ugh. Fine. I’ll concede this much: Make Over is slightly easier on the ears. It has a bit of bite, some surprising arrangement choices, even a touch of daring. Naturally, it has very few streams, because the audience for this “music,” in quotation marks, obviously doesn’t want to be challenged — what are you thinking, behave yourself. On the other hand, one of the big hits, Fighter, is also marginally more tolerable. At the same time it’s painfully fake, dripping with that “I’m going to make a tough rock song with distorted guitars and stuff, you know, because then I’m tough” energy. Did I mention this album runs for 77 minutes? My god. If there is a god, then this is not his work but that of his good old counterpart with the cloven hooves and pointy tail. That little red guy. This album is utterly exhausting to listen to. Almost any 77-minute album is, but this one is extreme. And that’s entirely down to La Aguilera herself. She is belting at such a level that it’s borderline surreal. Track after track she screams the diaphragms out of the studio microphones. And to maximise the odds of success, every single song spans roughly 132 billion octaves — after all, you can’t be sure where the membrane’s weak spot is, so you might as well hit every frequency with every word. A quick Google search yields mixed verdicts. Some say this is a textbook example of the loudness wars; others claim it isn’t, because there’s supposedly more dynamic range. All I know is that I repeatedly found myself reaching for the volume knob to turn it down again. Aguilera’s shrieking practically bruises my ribs. It is genuinely exhausting to be subjected to this. Utter trash. Why am I supposed to listen to this?

oh no. . . and I was having a good day. I was a youth when this album came out, so I'm familiar with some of the singles. I'm going to try and go in with no preconceptions, but it will be difficult. T2- she has an undeniable voice, but this record may have started the "belty" inflection style of this generation. This is much more explicit that I would have imagined considering I heard these songs in middle school, but what did I expect from a Lil' Kim feature? Man, this production is so of the time. So many strings and clicks, like a Sisco/Dru Hill song. OH, it's produced by Scott Storch. That tracks. T3- OKAY, now I'm convinced she should have done a Bond theme in this era. Her voice is wonderful. This tone/production feels like a 00's version of "Another Way to Die" - Jack Black Alicia Keys. T4- This may have led the way for pop vocals over "rock" guitars. I hate it. T5- Oh, she speaks Spanish. T6- You can't convince me this wasn't produced after listening to the Marc Anthony JLO single on repeat. T8 - listening to this skinemax soundtrack at 8:30 on a Wed morning in my office cubicle feels like I'm breaking HR guidelines. For a record called "Stripped" this has a lot of polished production. I guess it's more exploring other avenues of expression rather than straight disney channel, britney spears backing tracks. T11- Despite my best efforts, I could not escape this song for over a decade. It is impossible for me to be impartial. T12- What is this song. Where does it fit this record?  T13 - Same goes for this song. It feels like she had 2 albums ready and smashed them together with no cohesion. I commented on the production of the early songs, but at least they had character; the last few are so milquetoast.  These are songs you'd hear in a Panera Bread, or a Hallmark movie. You can REALLY tell which songs Scott Storch had a hand in. They have his fingerprints all over them. Once his dominance falls off, the record sounds disjointed. T16 - "Dirrty" - the music video that single-handedly ushered countless millennial boys into puberty. I would have bet you this featured Method Man, instead of Redman. T18 - Was this used on a movie soundtrack, or just composed to hopefully be? Overall, I'd say this is a really disjointed project. Maybe some will like that it offers a variation of production, direction and feel. It's not for me. Scattered and all over the place sonically. It's almost as if they were shotgun blasting genre influences chasing a hit in a place they didn't expect. Throw enough shit and the wall, and surely something will stick! Did I NEED to listen to this album before I died, probably not. She has an undeniable voice, and that's the saving grace of this record. 3 stars, only because 2 seems unfair, and I can't sneak in a 2.5. Nah, it's a 2. I can't throw this in the same ranking as other 3-star albums. Her voice deserves more, but this album does not.

Ok, she has a great voice, but I cannot stand most of these songs. I don't like the whisper singing, or the crying singing. And some of it is just too over the top. Sorry.

Well, that was a surprise! Loved the variety in this album - pop, Latin, jazz, R&B… this album had it all. Solid vocals as well. Definitely not what I was expecting based on the singles I knew from this album (Beautiful, Dirrty, Fighter, Can’t Hold Us Down). Could have cut out a few of the songs from the back half of the album, but overall solid. (4)

Some great vocal gymnastics on this album. Beautiful of course is a masterpiece!! Christina has one of the most powerful and diverse vocals ever.

I am just fascinated by how much I loved this album. I wasn't expecting to have any feelings about it, at all. I was expecting to enjoy a standard early 2000s pop album, like a few things, hate a few things, complain about how long it was (seriously, how is it that long?!), roll my eyes, scream-sing "Fighter" like one of my first breakups, and move on. I have never in my life listened to a Christina Aguilera album straight through, and it took me three days to convince myself to sit down and do it, but man, I just loved it. It's in that familiar early 2000s pop idiom, but it sounds like searching for your own expression (while still holding on to what you know). It sounds like a young artist finding her way toward creating her own art and not someone else's, just those first steps toward making something your own. Maybe it's just the memory of the time and the sound and what that sound brings up in my memory of my life when that sound was around me at the time, but I felt like I could hear that journey in the album. (Also I miss the era of interludes. They're just awesome, can we bring them back.) I just loved it. I loved it on a superficial "woo pop" level and I loved the story of how the album happened and I loved what I could hear of that story in the album. Completely unexpected. I would never have thought to listen on my own, but I'm so glad I did!

I mean, it's a well-crafted pop record, executed by talented people. There is a lot more creativity here than in most of the chart-topping pop out there right now. With that being said, this is not really my jam.

This was better than I expected. A nice mix of ballads and upbeat tracks. Not sure what makes this album essential listening though. At 20 tracks, running well past an hour, this is bloated. If this was a tight 12ish tracks, I'd round up rather than down. 2.5/5.

She has a tremendous voice, but I just don’t really love this style of music. I also get tired of the enslutification of former child stars. I think it’s bad for young girls.

I tried. She’s a talented singer, but something about the music does nothing for me. Walk Away gave me some hope, but it didn’t last. And a run time of well over an hour is far too long. 1.5 ⭐️

Solid album, toss up between a 3 and a 4. Rounding down because it's not really my style. Pop with some decent soul into it. Beautiful is a pretty iconic song and quite indicative of the whole album. Some nice R&B hits as well.

That was surprisingly ok. I suppose credit needs to be given to the people who composed, performed and mixed the album in addition to CA, who sang them. It's an incredibly inoffensive collection of songs.

I almost like Christina Aguilera’s voice. Almost. If I did, I would’ve rated this album higher because it’s really driven by her voice. She’s definitely got a strong voice, but I personally don’t like it. There were a handful of songs that I thought would’ve really been great had they had a different singer. The rest of the songs just didn’t get me.

179/1089 Stripped Intro sounding like the PS2 start up sound omg LOVE the transition from Walk Away into Fighter was so smooth, loved that some really solid tracklisting and flowing here. Nothing feels irrelevant. Beautiful is a really nice song. As a Zillenial though, I think I’m a little biased against it though based on it being overplayed and over-performed on X Factor etc at an age where it just didn’t feel relevant to me. but in the album it’s nice Make Over is GREAT. the sort of intense beachy guitar-led salsa sound really suits her and adds a new dynamic to this album. The Sugababes worked on it too?! or rather they were unknowingly and illegally sampled i guess oof somehow i’d always assumed The Voice Within was a Leona Lewis single that i never owned, but hearing it on here makes so much sense The light drum n bass element at the end of Keep On Singin’ My Song is greattt i like Xtina but when i saw the album was 1 hour 17 mins i was a little concerned, however that flew by, what a well structured and considered pop album! i saved 12/20 songs. half of the unsaved ones are intros/interludes but my select faves are: Fighter, Dirrty, Make Over, Get Mine, Get Yours, Infatuation 88/100

Thanks to when this came out I unfortunately remember a few of the songs from this due to its play on the radio and MTV. Started listening to it track by track and then skipped around because I didn't want to listen to all of this. Teenage me sure loved the Dirty music video. Regardless, still not my jam.

Not my favorite genre but enjoyable

An hour and seventeen minutes? Come on Xtina! That's too long for a pop album. Yes, life is hard for you ladies. Lil' Kim cannot sing. Dick jokes! Leave the in song jokes to Eminem. She is upset about something. This is like a Taylor Swift album...beautiful blonde woman complains about ex for an entire album. And I like them about the same. Come on with the Spanish and the Interludes...you're from Western Pennsylvania. She has a nice voice, but she's no Mariah. Infatuation is the best song so far. And another interlude. I hate numbers and letter replacing words in titles, but Loving Me 4 Me is good. The talking was lifted right off Jill Scott though. Let's have an uncredited Alicia Keys cameo! I can't tell if I like this album or her need to be a popular teenage girl is so annoying I don't. Fighter, Beautiful and Dirrty were the singles. Dirrty wins. The theme of Xtina's empowerment runs through the album, but the songs still manage to feel disjointed. It's like she said she wanted one song from every genre about strong women. Redman will guest on literally anyone's album. The video for Dirrty is probably worth half a star. I always liked Redman, he's a highlight. Good song. And a stupid blank 45 seconds on the last song and then some stupid joking around with an offensive accent. CDs were terrible and glad I am that their reign was short lived.

I have never liked her voice. And 77 minutes of her whining just gets draining. I did quite like Dirrty because the Redman feature was entertaining.

Christina Aguilera is one of the top pop stars of the 90s/00s and this album is a case-in-point example. It is excellent and she is a supreme talent. Dirrty is an absolute banger, Beautiful is a classic positive track. I forgot about the Voice Within and she is so good on it. Overall I think this is a great album, but I'm taking a point off because it's too long. There's definitely a few filler tracks that could've been left off to tighten this up.

-Xtina has more in common with Fred Durst than she'd like to admit. This album fits nicely with the "neo-eclectic" style of early 2000s MTV fodder. Limp Bizkit hybridized rap and rock for suburban white adolescents and this is basically market-tested r&b for the same audience's sisters. -Sure, she can sing. But the nonstop vocal backflips drive me nuts. They are tasteless and aesthetically unpleasant in the same way a Yngwie Malmsteen guitar solo is technically virtuosic but musically unsatisfying. People whose musical diet is 90% contestants from singing competitions are likely to tell you "she's actually a really talented singer!" -The ballads are pure schmaltz. Whitney she is not. -I can appreciate the W Bush-era resilience feminism (sex positivity, body positivity, "strength," etc). But it's a bit ironic the themes of the album are all about finding inner beauty, stripping away the makeup and designer clothes, not needing a makeover, loving your curves, appreciating your imperfections, etc when you take one look at the album cover.

Most pop music isn't for me. This had two nice songs and the rest felt very generic.

Someone said "I'm too old to pretend I give a shit about pop music." I have this same feeling. Anyway, giving it a 3 for her vocals, she definitely has a great voice ;-) But all wrapped up, this ain't my genre :-(

Quite enjoyed this, she has a really powerful voice and it brings a lot to the music. The tracks have a variety between ballads and up-beat club R&B which is fun. The lyrics have a ballsy attitude which is cool, and I enjoyed the latin influence on some songs. My main criticism is it's too long, and I don't think the album is strong enough to sustain 77 minutes of content. She does have a lot to say, but not that much - you're a strong and independent woman, that's super and I'm happy for you, but we don't need 20 tracks to get the idea. I was pretty bored in the last 3 tracks

Yaaas early 00s girlboss energy pop off

An early 2000s R&B/pop album. I thought this might be a good time but I was mostly underwhelmed (basically a repeat of the way I took Mariah Carey's Butterfly). The long runtime (an hour and seventeen minutes) rubs me the wrong way for this kind of album... "stripped" is a misnomer. There are some good moments here and there but there's a lot of road between those best parts. "Beautiful" is well-done but not something I'm likely to reach for. "Fighter" is the highlight.

One of the best vocalists of our time! Some of the songs are good and some a little meh but her voice makes them all worth listening too!

I’m honestly happy this album is on this list. I made fun of all pop artists back then and wanted to write this off, but realized the singles were good yet never bothered to listen to the whole album. I stand corrected.

Stripped?! It’s 1 hour 18 minutes long! I reckon if you took out about 7-8 tracks this would be pretty good, although I realise that is a ridiculous and damning statement in of itself. You can keep some ballads in but I don’t much care for them, focus on the upbeat poppier songs and you’ve got something a lot more interesting. The singles were massively overplayed at the time, I could do without them and to be honest, this is not my thing anyway. I will say though, that this sounds pretty decent in parts and Make Over genuinely surprised me, it was by far the best track for me.

This was an excellent album. Christina can really sing, no doubt. Some great songs in Beautiful, Stronger, and a series of others. Waned a bit in the end for me, but lots of diversity in the tracks which really showed off her range. Great stuff.

Tho the influence of this record has certainly been recognized, it's quite the experience listening to it all the way thru: its aesthetic really has gone on to become an ubiquitous presence. Even artists as seemingly self-contained as Solange and Amy Winehouse owe something to Stripped. More importantly, as long as it is, the album is simply a pleasure to listen to. She's also dead serious: fuck those who said it's 'almost' for grown-ups.

It was such a big album at the time, so I guess deserves it spot on that basis. Interesting to listen to it a couple of times.

This album is all over the place in a good way. Everytime I think damn this is a good song, it's written by Linda Perry. She is a chameleon too. The bad songs are really bad, but the good songs are incredible. Her voice is amazing. how was she lumped in with Britney? they are two separate animals.

A bit longer than needed, but a great pop album nonetheless.

This was what to me embodied American mainstream 20-odd years ago. And I wasn't a particular fan. It was fine, but all the gestures were a bit too big, all the attitude already seemed trademarked rather than genuine. In 2025, this makes me weirdly nostalgic for a time when there was something you could reasonably call American mainstream, and part of it was this. Whereas now... Yeah... As for the album itself, it's actually decent. But it's decent by way of being better than you expected. But then it carries on for a good bit longer than strictly necessary. And you have enough time to realise that it's not all THAT good. Not as good as the people who decided this should have 20 tracks obviously believed, in any case. Oh, and I'm glad to read Sugababes got a retroactive songwriting credit on Make Over, as 70% of that song (the catchy bits and basic rhythm, basically) were so obviously ripped straight off Overload - with the lyrics even referencing that song as well.

Not great

Pop albums are all kind of the same; regardless of genre, regardless of decade. No singular point of view or vision. Rather a parade of songs written by different songwriters, dressed, by a producer chosen by the suits at the label, in the sonic cliches of the day in hopes of landing one or two radio hits. That's how this plays to me. One great hit, and 19 misses. Why any music fan would need to here it before they died is beyond me.

I gave Back to Basics a 1 as I found it a struggle. This was a similar endurance test given its bloated length - however I did find it better than my (very low) expectations. I don't have positive feelings for 00's pop and whilst there are some classics of the era on this album like Dirrty they leave me cold.

Stripped This is much better and much more interesting than I expected it to be, and is probably better than it was meant to be, but it is not without a few issues, and I’m not sure it means it is actually a good album. In the plus column: Dirrty is a banger Beautiful, despite being quite cheesy and lyrically platitudinous is a great tune, and I do actually believe the sincerity and earnestness Can’t Hold us Down is a good bit of r’n’b hip-hop pop Fighter has a catchy chorus I quite like Cruz, it has a pleasing 80s power ballad vibe Although not always convincing, particularly the rock ones, there are a few different genres In the minus column: It's a severe victim of CD bloat, why is it 1 hour and 20 minutes long? That length means there’s quite a bit of aimless chaff that should have been binned There is a slight monotony of message, most of the songs return to the same theme of power/affirmation/underappreciation/defiance. Not a bad thing but the message is pretty diluted by the end. The signature wailing, woooah vocal runs get a bit much after 20 minutes Infatuation is annoying Makeover is essentially Overload by Sugababes It’s much better than Back to Basics (although that was pretty wretched), and it is a decent if significantly flawed album, with some highlights and quite a few lowlights. The focus of much of this, calling out a self-serving and hypocritical media, misogynist double standards, and standing up for a woman's right to give blow jobs without being called a slut, is commendable. But intent is one thing and execution another. I gave 'Back to Basics' a bad time but that was karma, as it gave me a bad time. So let me first say here 'Fighter' is a bona fide banger, with an earworm chorus. 'Dirrty' is not far behind, albeit overshadowed by its ladywank video. They aren't groundbreaking, tapping into 'Survivor' and other Destiny's Child rnb/rock crossovers, but they are undeniably pumping. The other thing she does quite well are the heartfelt ballads. 'Impossible' has all the hallmarks of Alicia Keys who wrote it - classic soul (albeit highly derivative). Then there's the genuinely uplifting 'Beautiful' which delivers the album's intended message with great skill (courtesy of Linda Perry). A nice thread of songcraft runs through it thanks to Keys and Perry, credit is given for Christina co-writing these songs, noting the lyrics are earnest, if often unimaginative. All tolled, and maybe the surprise factor of this being decent, it opens the door for a low three.

Very good album all the way around. Enjoyed listening to it.

Aguilera had pipes. I’d probably give 5 stars to an album of her just belting music scales for an hour. But this has fighter and beautiful on it, so definite 5.

This was so great! Christina Aguilera is a great singer, the instrumentation is great, and we hit so many genres here. The horn line and rock aspects were a lot of fun. The stripped dowm songs are also fantastic. This is an easy 4 for me. It's biggest problem is that it is just too long and it doesn't justify it. I've also always struggled with the maximalist style of singing Christina favours but that's a me issue. I was surprised at how much I liked Make Over, that's been added to rotation. I had to skip Beautiful because it was so incredibly overplayed that every drop of potential enjoyment I may have derived from it has long been squeezed out.

This album offers a refreshing and diverse mix of tracks and without reading the titles beforehand positively surprised me with the iconic song "Beautiful" right in the middle. A good handful of these I'd listen to on the radio on repeat. Not my usual music genre, but nonetheless a good album.

First off, the obvious: this didn't need to be 77 minutes long and there's a decent amount of fat to trim. But honestly, I still really enjoyed my time with this album - it's surprisingly soulful for the most part, but with the odd full pop banger in there. I will never like Beautiful though

Songs for every part of the relationship. I actually enjoyed this album more than I expected, but I think it has more to do with how pop music doesn't really sound like this anymore. I did feel some nostalgia for the 2000's though, so I guess it means I'm that old now.

Surprisingly varied and fun, but too long. Cut the weakest third and you'd have a real solid album.

There were a few decent tracks on here but I forgot to note them down and the rest of the album was so overly long and uninteresting I can't be bothered to listen to it again to highlight them. Oh well.

I started a review, scrapped it and started over. I grew up in this era I didn't listen to this album. This album was out at the heigh of the 2000's/90's girl vs girl drama the media pushed (Christina vs. Brittney, Monica vs. Brandy, Mariah vs. JLo). This specific rivalry Christina was the 'dirty' one pushing the envelope on the idea of female sexuality, fighting the double standard and embracing a more free lifestyle. I love that idea and applaud the ladies that pushed that envelope and dealt with the pushback. But this album focuses too much on pushing the boundaries, buying into the person the media made her and not focusing on what she was really good at, singing (and not always crazy vibrato way). There are a few highlights that show her talent, The Voice Within, Keep on Singin, even Dirrty. But then there was Walk Away, Make Over, Loving me 4 me, they are trying so hard to play into the sexual side that they become cheesy and way over the top. It was like she was trying to hide her voice, and use all these other tricks to get people to like the songs, when she didn't need to! I know it says she was heavily involved in the writing and this was her premiere album, but it doesn't hold up (I have no loyalty to her or Ms. Spears). This album is too much, too over the top, making it overall of a bad example of early 2000's pop music. I will still dance and sing along at the top of my longs to Dirrty and Fighter, but overall this album does Ms. Aguilera Dirrty and doesn't spend enough time letting her show off her strongest asset, her voice.

I liked this alot more than I thought I would. She has a pretty great voice. Songs are strong, positive, sensual, and sexy. There's a good mix of tunes. 20 songs is a little long for an album so she could have probably edited this down a bit but that's fine. I'll take an extra track of Christina speaking Spanish in a sexy voice. A few more of those please! :P

Stripped sounds so of its time that it hurts. I never question Christina’s ability to sing, but I do question why everything has to be over sung, Mariah Carey style. The vocal gymnastics approach is detrimental to what they’re doing. Give me Whitney ANY day. She makes you feel every note naturally…never forced. Fighter is a good song. Beautiful is a shit song. Others are good, some are too much. The empowerment theme is not the problem here. It’s not a bad album at all if 20 to 30 minutes of it were trimmed away and she wasn’t trying so hard to outplay every other singer in the world.

It's funny to think back to how Britney and Christina were queens of pop culture at one point in time, and how the media painted them as arch enemies. And also how popular low-rise jeans were! What a weird time. I never got into Christina's music back then, but this album gives me a newfound appreciation for her. I love the girl power. It's kind of all over the place with a mix of pop hits, slow ballads, hip-hoppish tracks and Latin-influenced vibes. And she certainly took advantage of squeezing almost every second out of the length of a CD. The sheer amount of songs started to lose me a little in the middle but then recovered nicely with Dirty and The Voice Within. Dirty is such a banger. It was fun to hear some of her hits again after 20+ years.

The fun cuts are fun, but the rest is too samey to stand out from each other. The very long run time doesn't help either. There's a decent album hiding in here if they would have cut some of the fat.

I went into this with a positive attitude and mood. But sadly this album is just objectively not for me. I didn’t care for the songs, I didn’t care for the music, and I know her biggest claim to fame is how amazing her voice is, but here’s my hot take, she’s grating. Like her skill level is high, but I HATE the vocal delivery. Like the way she decides to sing I think undermines the great production, any musical talent on the instrumentation, and it also overshadows how talents he is cause her voice is full of range but it’s always being done so over the top that it’s not enjoyable. There’s NOTHING about this album that’s subtly or nuanced, it’s all just loud annoying early 2000s pop music. Totally waste of time, doesn’t belong on this list.

I think I just like 2000/2010s pop when it isn't white people making it. This was excellent, especially the opening and closing few songs. It loses some steam in the middle, but even then it gets it back really quickly. Also her voice is incredible, much like the saxophone bonus points this one gets.

Decent record better than I expected

I was expecting this to be dated, but I think it still holds up. The production is amazing. Sometimes when you revisit an artist like this, you wonder how they ever had such an impact, but I think it's clear why Christina Aguilera was so omnipresent in the early 2000s. In fact, I was surprised to learn that she's released four albums since 2010 because I don't remember hearing anything about these albums on release.

Got few good hit. She got the voice. But overall it’s not that strong of an album in my opinion, targeted mostly on radio success with few good moments and stucked in that time frame

My first thought was - why is this album on here? But after listening I agree it is a must listen. Great album.

Even as a kid i did not like her music. there are allot of good music from the 00s but the pop was awefull. so I admit im a bit biased. She has a unique voice because it is a bit lower than the usual singers and she is a talented singer. but that is it.. everything else is generic 00s pop. it's not bad it's just nothing that stands out or impress me. it uses allot of interesting influences to and mix it up. But she has made an impression on music history so i don't think this album don't have a place on this list, regardless of my subjective feelings about the album. but im also not a good enough critic to give a confident higher score.

This was too long. A lot of effort went in to the production and selection of songs with mixed results. CA had a strong voice, although it didn't feel stretched and kept on the same side. No song had a spine tingling moment. No doubt the voice could deliver this. There was certainly scope for this in a album, especially over an hour in length. In small chunks, singles, this is more than fine.

Really wanted to listen to this and rate it highly since so many of the users on here are so blindly opposed to modern pop music. Unfortunately, unlike Lauryn Hill, or Taylor Swift, this album doesn't really say anything, or present anything musically interesting.

Thoughts in order: Wow, so there are at least two Christina Aguilera albums on the list; that’s interesting. I bet Christina Aguilera was so angry through the whole of the late 90s and early 2000s, what with everyone pretending she and Britney were the same. Not being mean, I’ve loved Britney since day one, but you know what I mean. What if she’d never been marketed as a cute teen singer, but instead was an uber-talented r&b/soul singer? Singing all the sexy jams? Oh, I see her jeans on the cover look more risqué than I ever realized. You’ll always have a place in my heart, X-tina. Love you grrrl.

This is a solid pop album, that being said I am not the biggest fan of pop so I didn’t find this album super interesting. Her vocals are great but some aspects of the album just give generic pop vibes which is fine, I think it sounds good but I feel like some parts of the album or missing the sauce and get a little stale. Definitely some good grooves and great moments, but Im not sure this is an album I will revisit often. I think 1hr 15mins is a little long and could have been cut down a bit. I feel like I am writing a negative review but I actually enjoyed this album more than I expected. The r&b elements are really enjoyable and well done. Her girl boss attitude is great too and exudes confidence. Latin influence is a great touch when leaned into

After the last Christina album that was over an hour I was nervous about this one. However, I didn't realize how many hits she had from this album! As long as it is I found myself not getting bored of it. However, not all of it is gold and I think if you get rid of the interludes and a song or two and its easily a 4/5. As it stands its an enjoyable 3/5.
