Reviews (page 8 of 15)

Possibly my 2/3 favourite album from them, really starting to develop into more of a melodic sound leaving behind their funk, blends the two perfectly

Very entertaining album, first half is definitely the better side. Second half just goes on for a bit too long, but overall, a very good album.

One of the best albums of the 90s

way better than BSSM

Hard rocking, melodious

A big deal at the time. Terrible lyrics. Terrible sound quality. Good music.

Good energy, good sound, good album.

A mellower offering than some of their previous albums, but none the worse for that. The title track and Otherwise are particularly standout although some of the other numbers get a bit samey. Overall it's a decent effort

HAOOLÅÅÅÅÅ HAOOOLÅÅÅÅÅOOÅÅÅ

Among their best

I'm not a huge RHCP fan, but I like them well enough. Honestly if you would have had me rate this when it came out, I would have given it a lower rating because most of this was overplayed on radio at that time. "Otherside," "Porcelain," and "Road Trippin'" are probably my favorite songs from it. Personally I think Stadium Arcadium is the superior album from them from this time period, but this one is good too.

Such a huge album

Really enjoyable.

Really good. Lot of big songs on here.

A good album. Starts brilliant, but it has its flaws. Trails off towards the end.

Like Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic this one is solid throughout. I’m not a huge fan of the hits on this one, but Californiacation is a good song. My favorite part of the album is Porcelain through Velvet Glove. Songs are well arranged and produced

So close to 5 stars.

I'm a sucker BloodSugarSexMagic, a fan boy if you will, and I did all I could in the 90s to go and explore early RHCP. (Yes they had albums before that) I enjoyed One Hot Minute thoroughly but considered it an odd evolutionary step considering it was back to their quirky punk roots. By 1999 I had abandoned radio music and was well on my way to jamband music and an expanded musical palat that I wish most people experienced as they age, but I digress. This album Californication I always dismissed as one of my old favorite bands sell-out album. Chuck full of radio singles and catchy choruses. 25 or so yrs later, I just now realy listen to this album, and I'm pleasantly surprised. Yes, it's kind of a sell out, but the singles are good, and they are RHCP songs, still market with nonsensical lyrics and punchy verses. The album tracks also harken back to the old days of albums past. Sure it drags a bit and be a bit to sentimental, but as a natural evolution of a band this is were the Peppers should've been

Singles make it worth it but on the first listen it kinda drags for me personally, also had this problem with blood sugar sex magik so i think i have to familiarize with it more first

Jak uvod u album s Around the World. Scar Tissue je jako lijepa pjesma. Prateći vokali su super, bas ugodan. Otherside je apsolutni BENGER. Fruscianteovi komplementirajuće harmonije na Fleaov bas su zakon. U breakdownu oba instrumenta briljiraju svojim soloima. Ikonićno Get on Top je opet random ramblanje Kiedisa. Zanimljiva tema pjesme i spoj riječi naslova. Eksploatacija ljudi željnih pronalaska slave u Los Angelesu. Porcelain je jednostavna i lijepa pjesma. Mislim da je o predoziranju. Usporava tempo albuma i pruža stanku od visokooktanskih pjesama. Druga polovica albuma malo postane dosadna. Right on Time pulsiranje basa je top. Road Trippin' je solidan kraj album. Kraj putovanja koji te poziva na još jedno. Anthonyjevo glupo nabrajanje/repanje? "Mattdr pattrg state of California" zna nervirat. Dobro je kad pjeva. Flea i Frusciante su vrhunac ovog albuma. Svaka pjesma ima ikonični "bass line". Ne čujem produkcijske nedostatke albuma.

always a classic

Classic album, many great songs. Scar Tissue is a standout

I was raised on Mother's Milk and BSSM, this is good but lacks a certain 🔥 as compared to those earlier albums.

Always liked them

I wouldn't call myself Red Hot Chili Peppers fan. Despite that I know 1/3 of this album from rock radiostations. That is something worth noticing among albums with one hit wonders.

One of my favorite 90s albums to date. Beautiful instrumentals and vocals. "Parallel Universe" and "This Velvet Glove" give off a great chill vibe and aren't overplayed like some of the more popular pieces.

Massively front stacked album, but the front stacked songs are good enough for it to be a great album still.

Generational classic. Wont ever get old. Amazing production. Such a raw album. Brought us endless classics. Such a different and creative sound compared to other artists who tried to capture this sound. Absolutely perfect in the time it was released as well. Lyrics deliver on too many levels. Grew up on this album, will grow old to this album. Personal favorites: Scar Tissue, Otherside, Californication

It’s interesting that I get this album - RHCP’s rebound album - the day after I got American Idiot - Green Day’s rebound album. They’re both interesting and fun, but this one is more microcosmic than Idiot. Cannot overstate the contributions of Frusciante to this album - Kiedis’ vocals are notably better than Blood Sugar Sex Magik too. Solid end of the 90s rock.

I'd listen again, didn't expect the rapping

Great memories of downloading this from Napster. Lots of forgotten gems here.

Chock full of radio friendly hits, most of which I have listened to before and know intimately. Some lesser known standouts: porcelain, get on top. Not a bad track in this bunch.

RHCP sind schon ok. Auch wenn die Stimme von Kiedis manchmal nervt. Die Instrumentierung is auf jeden Fall Top. 3-4

Such a standout LP of the time and a strong finish for 1999, Californication, the song, remains a great and likely an all time classic. TRHCP have always been good, but live they are something to behold. This band is one of those rare must see live type. These guys know how to deliver.

I want to give this five stars but it might be because of nostalgia. This was one of the first albums I had listened to from my dad’s collection. But on listening to it again I think it definitely could be shorter, maybe cut everything after Emit Remmus and leave in Road Trippin’? The other songs don’t seem to do anything new , and some like Savior are repetitive. But I respect the musicianship and I am a fan of Kiedis’ vocals and lyrics on this album. So it’s a weak four from me

One of the first albums I ever bought. I vividly remember buying it in Gatwick Airport departure lounge before a family holiday where my 13-year-old self played it endlessly for the entire trip. At the time I would have given it a 5 but with hindsight and more experienced ears I think it is more of a 4/5

Pretty solid rock album

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this one but I really enjoyed it.

liked this one. Want to listen to more of their albums

I would like more like this

Good, nice flow to it, energetic and upbeat

Oldie but a goodie

Had already listened to this album, although not in full. Like always, the funky monkeys put out an album with many great hits, and a great musical level overall. All that said, like always too, they put out too many songs, having a lot of them sound generic amd blending in together.

Still beaten by Stadium Arcadium for me but a classic with heavy hitters like Scar Tissue and Californication.

most good albums, in my opinion, have filler songs. it is very rare for every song on a good album to be quality. this album is no exception. flea shines on this one, as he usually does. the opening and closing tracks fall flat. that being said, most of the songs on this album are good to great. nice album overall. highlights: “parallel universe”, “californication”, “emit remmus”, “right on time”.

Some classic hits that I didn’t recognize before

~ = good + = very good * = already knew the song Parallel Universe ~ Scar Tissue ~ Otherside + Get on Top ~ Californication *+ Easily ~ Emit Remmus ~ This Velvet Glove + Savior + Purple Stain ~ Road Trippin' +

The hits still be hittin, I’m more lukewarm on the rest of the album though

I’ve always loved this album and found it again recently. Some of the songs here are absolute bangers but I do laugh a bit as I listen. There’s a lot of guff on here too. And the lyrics are outrageously bad in places. Still, I love it.

A few really stellar songs and a lot that sound alike. Decent album overall though.

I guess I’ve been sleeping on the Red Hot Chili Peppers because I haven’t listened before but I really enjoyed this. Really fun bass lines, I like the vocals and the songwriting was very catchy. Easily in particular got stuck in my head.

Never gets old.

not the biggest fan but deserves a light 4

Not my first listen. Such a good album, makes me really nostalgic. Not tgeir absolute best IMHO though.

Great album, reminds me of 90s rock/American Pie era.

This is a very well-rounded album, more melodic than their prior efforts, as the critics say. My tastes tend to run in the opposite direction of Spotify listeners, as I prefer the punchier, straight-ahead rockers, tracks like “Easily" or “parallel universe” or “I like dirt” to the mega-streamed tracks, which are mostly ballads. Some of the more up-tempo tracks feature hip-hop phrasing, maybe going to the “Give it Away” well one too many times, but still they throw in an interesting chorus or guitar riff. The musicianship is great and in your face. Keidis is a great singer, Frusciante is a great guitarist and Flea plays wicked bass. I suppose Chad Smith is a great drummer but the other guys stand out more. If I listened to this one more time it would get a 5, but I’m a day behind.

The RHCP are probably the best American rock band of the last few decades, there I said it. Everyone on this album is at the top of his game and the band is toight!! I won't go into a lengthy review of the songs and the band members because its been done many times before, but I'll say that the first side is pretty damned solid but the second side flags a bit.

Really love this album. Bass, guitar, drums, and vocals all come together harmoniously! 4/5

Ah! Classic

I’m a big Red Hot Chili Peppers fan, seen them live at London Stadium and thought they were brilliant so obviously I’ve heard this album. I admit they have some crap records and silly songs but I’ve got to say I love this album and I think it is their best. Even though there’s still lack of songwriting and awkward production choices on songs such as “I Like Dirt” and “Get on Top”, this album is home to some of the best rock songs I’ve ever heard. “Scar Tissue” is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard and John Frusciante’s guitar playing is just one of a kind. I’ve loved this album for a long time and still do, an enjoyable mainstream rock record with some of the my favourite rock songs. RATING: 8.5/10

A side - Solid 5 B Side - meh 3 Want to give it a 5, but have to go for the average (A side is really good)

Memories, many songs from childhood

First half is 5 stars, stone-cold classic. 2nd half is 2 stars. 3.5, rounded up to 4 b/c Flea.

Can't fault RHCP, some great tunes, plenty of funk and swagger and an instantly recognizable singer. Plus there's the nostalgia element, this really takes me back to a time and a place.

It was a good album with some good tunes on it, but I had a bit of a headache and wasn't really in the mood for it. I can't bring myself to vote it as low as three stars, though.

Ahh, now, love singing along to this one as Anthony’s voice is in just my key. Their last decent album before they totally lost it. The lyrics are a bit nursery rhyme as per. They’ve been phoning it in ever since this one

Core memory of peeing in an empty beer cup amongst friends waiting for the chili peppers to come on stage 4/5

Solid post-grunge. Real funky.

It’s been a long time since I listened to the RHCP. Honestly these boys still have it. Great melodies and hooks, a really fun return to 9th grade.

Haven't listened to this in at least 15 years, so it's been entertaining going back and rediscovering it. It's held up extremely well. Still think it would have been a perfect album if they'd chopped a couple songs off of it and shortened it - I Like Dirt and Purple Stain can go instantly, possibly Emit also - maybe it's due to being English but it just sounds cringey. Porcelan sounds like an absolute Smashing Pumpkins rip-off but I'll let it slide. Doesn't really suit the rest of the album though. A high number of 5* tracks on there, sadly slightly dragged down by the weaker ones. Arguably 4.5*, which is still a great score

Sweet 90's child memories (and by 90's I mean early to mid 00's) 4'5

I often get the chili peppers mixed up with rocky horror - you know, RHCP/RHPS - which is daft, cos one is a load of silly, over-sexualised nonsense with good tunes and a faint undertone of cringe, while the other... Also, I don't care what anyone says, I still enjoy this album. NING NANG NING NONG NING NANG NING NONG NING NANG

Funky, rhythmic, well-crafted wide-appeal rock music. My abiding memory of the band is learning to dance to Can't Stop in year six. I enjoyed it immensely. You'll never get anything too exciting, no gut-punch or life-changing moment but it's totally good.

Pretty consistent although the album feels a bit front loaded, so when listening to some of the deeper cuts feels like a drag. But that is not to discredit some of the deep cuts. All around it is a great listen throughout, even though it drags in places. Fav tracks: Parallel universe, Around The World, Scar Tissue, Otherside, Californication, Easier, This Velvet Glove, Road Trippin’ Least fav: Saviour 4/5

Funky. Great example of the genre. The Peppers kind of perfected this genre. Rhythm section is locked in and Kiedis does his typical rapid fire singing.

Great album! Lots of amazing instrumentals on here.

En yleensä tykkää tulisesta, mutta chili pippurit on ihan jees Ei ehkä niin kova kokonaisuutena mutta sisältää kovia kappaleita

First half of the album is iconic, I didn't even realised that so many songs from this record went mainstream. But the other half is only ok, I feel whet you cut maybe two songs and shorten the album a little bit it would be better.

Some nice, uninventive 90s rock to put on in the background

Went through a big RHCP phase when I was younger, and this was and still is their best imo. It’s just rammed with belters, even if it does go on a bit. It’s been years since I listened to this; and I don’t love it like I once did, but it’s a true classic. Also brings back many nostalgic memories, including watching their live open air show on DVD with my Nana on Christmas day. I think she quite liked it.

The most overplayed band in the world, I've actively avoided listening to RHCP for some years as I was getting sick of them. Consequently, haven't heard this in ages. It's the best RHCP album I reckon, has the most hits. Not as funky as blood sugar obviously but still has a little bit of that sound. The video to Californication was seared into my brain from a young age but it's probably one of the weakest songs on this. Listening to this album unexpectedly, it was really good, but I don't need to hear it again for a good few years now.

I have no nostalgia for RHCP but the first half of this album is really quality. While the second half doesn't quite reach the same heights I still enjoyed most of the album. Highlights: Around The World Scar Tissue Otherside Californication

ok 3.5/10 favorite in college.. didn't grow on me as well as i thought.. a few good songs though

So ubiquitous it defines a whole era. Takes me right back to being 15. Prefer the earlier, funkier RHCP albums, but still happy to listen to this.

The seventh studio album released in 1999. An album in desperate need of a remaster, the musicianship in this band is second to none and deserves more. The album opens phenomenally strong for the first 7 songs (mainly singles), then Porcelain marks a change of energy far too jarring for the circumstance. The 3rd quarter of the album is a little flatter than the rest but it picks up again for the outros.

Nostalgia? Maybe. Too many overplayed songs? Probs. Nonsensical lyrics? 100%. Fun musical romp though

I listened to Chili Peppers quite a bit in high school. My main memory with this album is, one winter it was my preferred outdoor workout soundtrack. So I would be running through a snowy, windy, cold tundra listening to these essentially Californian songs. There are some great songs here, alongside a few duds. Interesting to hear that they recorded 30-40 songs for the album. Despite that, the bonus tracks, which I had not previously heard, do not add anything, and in fact detract from the album - they would have been better left to legend, unreleased. Luckily, the great songs do make up for the not so great ones, making the album worthwhile.

The return of John Frusciante is certainly a boon to the group and likely resulted in the more mature sound found on this record. That seems like a bit of an oxymoron for the Chil Peppers, but we'll get to that in a minute. Frusciante's influence, and the weight of his recovery from addiction, seems to have tempered the chemistry of the group. Not only does he bring his earworm guitar lines, but there is also an increased use of backing vocals that brings some more sophistication and beauty to the material. Flea is one of the few truly iconic bass players in modern rock since the late 80s. He is certainly flamboyant, but never seems to overplay. It's just that he has the ability to play so much more than your average bassist, and he uses that ability to support the songs. His relationship with his partner in rhythm, Chad Smith, is obviously essential to their success. He, like many drummers, seems to be the silent glue that holds everything together. Then we get to Anthony Kiedis and this is where it gets more complicated. His voice is an integral part of the Chili Pepper's sound and I do appreciate his soulfulness and even playfulness. But it's the lyrics that get to me sometimes. There are some nice poetic moments here and there but there are also these groan worthy awkward phrases throughout that prevent it from being truly great. It's like he never grew out of being a teenager and his cringeworthy thoughts are on full display. I know they sort of embrace that to a certain degree but it still doesn't make it go down easier or age more gracefully. This is a 3.5 for me and I will round up to 4 since I did enjoy this more upon it's initial release and I remember the vast majority of these catchy songs quite well and relatively fondly. However it just as easily could have been a 3 just for the lyrics.

Close to a 5/5, though the second half of the album is missing just abit of Frusciante magic for me.

This is pretty dope. I used to have this cd in my car. I only understood the innuendo of the title as of about 6 months ago. Hard to believe that this came out in 1999

This probably my favourite RHCP album. The first 6 tracks are absolute gold, with Parallel Universe being one of my favourites. I do find the album gets a little boring towards the end (Savior). But this is an excellent album with fun melodies. I'm glad Anthony Keidis got more into singing on this album, it added a whole other dimension to their sound.

First half of the record - almost flawless. Second half……I’ve never seen such a large discrepancy between their good songs and regular songs. But bc there’s 4 certified bangers on this one, I’ll Get On Top of this one with a 4

I used to love this album. I still do, but I used to, too.

About 60% great songs, 40% constipated funk workouts with terrible vocals, so pretty promising as a RHCP album goes. Many of these tracks are played to death on the radio, but with good reason. Overall, decent result

There were a few middling tracks in the latter half of the record, but the heavy hitters make up for it. Not to mention, this is pure nostalgia fuel. Memories of catching the Californication music video on MTV or hearing Scar Tissue on nearly every radio station suddenly become so vivid. At its best, this album feels sitting by the beach with friends, enjoying a cold beer before a sunset swim session. Standout tracks (other than the singles) are Porcelain and Emit Remmus.

First half is a 5, second half is a 3. parallel universe, scar tissue, otherside, californication, easily

The first half is a 5, the second half unfortunately doesn't hit as well for me. But still a great album. FS: Around the World, Parallel, Scary Tissue, Get in Top.

Heard it before?: Yes Enjoy it?: I love it, so consistently strong with punchy riffs and solos, has an insane track run from 1-6 but then slows down a bit but doesn’t take away from this beauty! Favourite song: Track 1 - Around The World

I mean, it's Californication. Nothing more needs to be said

Ah, the Chilli Peppers much like Bono and his gang, hate seems to follow behind them like a rancid smell. And you know I do get it…..a little. These guys are living too good a life aren’t they? Having fun in the California sun writing songs, with juvenile lyrics, selling bucketloads and touring the world to sell out crowds. The fact that they dropped one of the most exciting and innovative rock albums of the nineties with BSSM should give them some credits in the bank of music snobbery, shouldn’t it? Californication isn’t the greatest rock album ever, hell it ain’t the chilli’s best. But I remember playing this through the summer of 99’. At the time I had myself a really decent stereo for the first time ever. When Flea’s bass line from Parallel Universe hit those speakers it nearly tore my face off. John was back, replacing the knuckle dragging Navarro and his stock metal riffage. Maybe Californication sticks around a little too long, but on the whole it’s fun. It makes me move, strut, sing and goof around which ain’t a bad thing.

Yes I like it

Love it.

The quintessential CA pop-punk-rock band. One of their best efforts!

Sure, it's "mature," but that wasn't a high bar for them to get over. Might even seen as reachingly soft. Still, pretty good and listenable, and nearly every song succeeds on its own terms. "Too long" and "too samey" would be the common – and mostly valid – criticisms. The more they try to recreate their past magic, the more tired it all sounds. Frusciante definitely the difference maker., with lots of cool flourishes, especially in the interstitials.

Absolute classic. I'll never forget back in the Jersey days tailgating at the Bayonne Costco with some pig pistols and blasting Easily from this album. There was nothing like those fruit smoothie glizz burps. The list is on fire giving us this heater of an album heading into US MDW

Such an all time classic. i like dirt, porcelain, get on top are some underrated ones

day 10. I chuckled when this came up, it's very timely as I was reading a reddit post about RHCP the other day and thinking about them a bit. Where I've settled is if you don't take them too seriously, RHCP are a solid band. Sure, get a better vocalist, write better lyrics and they could be great, but they also might be more forgettable. They have a vibe that works and Kiedis sells it well. Now, this album is verrry top heavy. #'s 1-6 are instantly recognizable, huge hits. Kinda surreal to hear them all one after the other. And the rest ... I like Easily and Road Trippin'. Right on Time almost made my ears bleed, but aside from that I didn't haaate the second half. It just could've/should've been cut down a bit. I've found that RHCP is a band that gets infinitely better when listened to with headphones. I appreciated them more on this listen. fab instrumentation, especially in these earlier funkier years. I still feel that I lack a connection with them, but they are fun to jam to and are undeniably iconic. tl;dr it's a good album, 4/5 (even if it's trendy to hate on RHCP, I can't in good conscious rate it lower), could be tighter though faves: Parallel Universe, Easily, Scar Tissue

La chanson Scar Tissue est là pour nous rappeler que tout n’est pas dans la basse de Flea – qu’il maîtrise assurément. Un bon mélange de funky, rock, mélancolie

A great album for driving down the 1 along the Pacific coast. I’m not even a huge RHCP fan and I had fun listening to this all the way through. The band is at its best when Frusciante is on guitar. Not as interesting as their earlier funk/punk stuff, but it’s still the Chili Peppers doing their thing.

Almost my favorite RHCP album. Great blend of their signature funk with darker and slower influences. The lyrics even make sense sometimes.

Very front heavy with hits, but still a good album, not my favourite of theirs but a solid entry.

The bangers were still bangers, the rest was alright, production was high quality as should be expected

Familiar with it, pretty good album

I've known this album for a very long time now yet I've never listened to it. After all this time, it's good to hear what the full album sounds like - fun, soft, groovy alt-rock that's catchy and pleasant. Overall a pretty good album.

Hate to admit it, but this is really good! Standouts: Otherside, Scare Tissue, Californication, Around the World, Road Tippin' Others: Parallel Universe, The Velvet Glove, Porcelain 4.0

After Blood Sugar Sex Magik produced some amazing anthems in 1991 that carried across the decade, Red Hot Chili Peppers went through a big slump musically, failing to produce much noteworthy music. This album, just in time for the 2000s, revived them and brought them into prominence in the new millennium. And in the same way as BSSM, this album produced several outstanding alternative rock anthems for the new decade. The music here still has that quintessential Chili Peppers funk, but in my opinion it's dialed back on most tracks in favor of a more of-the-time alternative rock sound. In some cases, that is harder rock, and in other, it's more of a "chill" and relaxed alternative sound. Either way, this is a development that works well for them, as I believe this is the only album that rivals Blood Sugar Sex Magik, or even possibly surpasses it. I personally found the first half to be a lot better than the second half, but the whole album was enjoyable.

Bangers only

I’ve never listened to this album from start to finish before. We’ve all heard the singles a million times, though. God damn this album is loud and compressed. It’s bad enough that I’m finding it distracting. Lots of good songs on this. Some of the lyrics I would happily leave behind (Get on Top, I Like Dirt, Purple Stain) but those even songs have plenty of redeeming qualities. 3.75

Bit of an album isn't it? Remember it's release, getting drawn into the softer numbers but not being a big fan of the harder American rock numbers. Turns out that's still the case.

Would give 4 1/2 stars; this one only falls short compared to Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic.

This has rightly been brightening up teenagers' bedrooms since '99

Can't fault many tunes on here. BIG UP the London song.

7/15, 47%

Estilo inconfundible del grupo americano, con fusiones de rock, hip-hop, canciones más tranquilas,... Más de una canción fácilmente reconocible

I was pretty much done with the Chili Peppers when this album came out. I loved BSSM as well as the darker turn they took with One Hot Minute so I wasn't excited about their "return to form" with Californication. I'm also not entirely sure how much RHCP a person needs in their life. Still, this is a pretty damn good record by their standards and I'm going to say it will probably have the distinction of being the last RHCP record I need to listen to.

I've always had a soft spot for the Chili Peppers in spite of being something I'd usually have disdain for. This album is just really gorgeous melodically, especially Kiedes's vocals.

My favorite RHCP album, and song!! Awesome!!! I am a big fan of the Chili Peppers, and have listened to them for years. Californication is a bit of a departure from their regular upbeat music, for a slower, more intimate feel. I can distinctly remember seeing the music video for Californication the first time. It was so futuristic!! The whole video looked like a video game, and was visually unlike any other video of the time. I love the funky bass driven grooves achieved by Flea. He is a hell of a bassist! RHCP have been known to be a bit weird (shooting music videos with socks on their cocks, or Flea playing a live show completely nude). This is part of their shtick, and is part of what separates them from other bands of the genre. Overall, an amazing album. Some filler on it though. The first half of the album is stacked with hits, but the rest is good, but not of the same caliper. Not my, first listen, and I will absolutely listen again! Favourite songs: Californication, Scar Tissue, Around the World, Otherside, Right on Time, This Velvet Glove, Purple Stain, Fat Dance, Parallel Universe, I Like Dirt, Road Trippin' Least favourite songs: Porcelain 4/5

Huge staying power in the culture, 4 songs that could be considered huge hits and on a 15-track album I would say 10 are incredible songs. Road Trippin as the last song is a nice change of pace from funk to acoustic, but a few too many forgettable tracks on the back half overall.

Nothing to say, one of their best for me :)

This band and album was quite literally fueled by heroin. Their lead singer was a junkie sex addict who desperately wanted to be a rapper. Their bassist was a junkie midget who jumped around on stage like a maniac. Their guitarist (for this album) was a junkie just out of rehab who quit as soon as the band broke it big so he could do more heroin. Their drummer was a junkie (cocaine this time) who joined the band only because they already had a record deal in place. Oh and not to mention the crazy amounts of sexual misconduct that they all got wrapped up in. Yet, individually all of them are so talented (minus whenever Kledis raps). Seriously, all of them would have made it big regardless, but they just happened to make it big together. Their music incorporates so many interesting elements and you can easily isolate each instrument’s sound. You get some funk, some punk, a dash of R&B, hints of classic rock, and more! Considering that they were just a group of buds from high school who went through hell together and through it all made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, that’s hella impressive. This is the best album they made, but as with many famous albums, we forget how bad some of the lesser songs are. It doesn’t warrant 5 stars unfortunately, but it’s close.

Actually diabolically hard to listen to while studying, got distracted at so many points... Doesn't take away from the greatness of the music at all. I love the chili peppers and this album is obvs up there for me. A lot of people don't like it bc they're wanna be hipster $#^kheads who think they can claim a very popular rock band for their own and then rag on their music when they get big or deviate from their roots in the slightest. Go gobble some $#^ks you f@#kin hens.

The first half was a 5, second half was a 3. I really wanted to give this a 5, but I couldn’t. Similar to Aladdin Sane, I didn’t expect to know much of this going in, but it turned out I knew almost every track due to the album being in my library for years. When I first started this album years ago, I audibly laughed at Anthony Kiedis rapping on the first track and stopped right there. However, after many viewings of one of my favorite movies, Point Break, which features Kiedis in a minor role, I’ve grown to love the rapping. Kiedis literally starts singing gibberish in the first track and we can’t handle some rapping? Also, when I found out the creepy looking dude from Back to the Future was in Red Hot Chili Peppers, I view them in a better light. When I listen to Kiedis sing and rap and speak in gibberish, it is honestly so relatable. I spend a good chunk of my days doing the exact same thing, only I don’t have Flea to back me up on bass. Combined with the fact that this album brought the original band back together, it’s one hell of a ride and I had so much fun for the first half, one of the highlights of this generator for sure.

Il y en avait qui étaient quand même mélodiquement ouf, mais le rock je trouve que c'est toujours la même chose

I ended up replacing speakers in my 2000 Impala due to how poorly mastered this album was.

The apex of Chili Pepper albums

Very strong album. Tons of great songs.

Good album

Probably their best work after 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik', so an incredible record but not perfect.

Fantastic

Upeesti lähtee kyllä tää tykitys, mutta ihan ei kanna loppuun asti.

Rhcp is a really interesting band, some of the stuff they do is so bad and some is among the best songs ive ever heard. Frusciante is a genius and so is flea and Smith, this album is so funky and groovy

Super energetic and stacked with hits

not the best peppers album

Those boys love California

Great album, although a lot of songs blend together after a while Fav tracks: Around the World, Otherside, Californication, Get on Top, Road Trippin'

Classic. Nostalgia

I will say I have listened to this album before and enjoyed it, but it definitely hit a little harder on the 2nd listen. First four songs on the record are insanely good. Californication (song) might be their best. Fantasic closing track with road trippin'. Lil peep sampled this track because i was wondering how the hell i knew the beat. Good vibes 7/10

This shit slaps hard

Typical Chilis. Propulsive bass by Flea driving the songs. Choppy guitar.

I’m not much of a fan generally, but this is really very good. Not all the proto-Rock-rapping holds up, and the lyrics are often a little dumb (“hardcore soft porn” is not some kind of brilliant inversion). But it’s fun, high energy and sincere.

Best RHCP album, too funky to be 5

Loudness war album and one of the most noticeable. This is a pity, as this comeback album came as quite a surprise to me at the time. Despite being a couple of songs too long, it is even the best RHCP album I know (only know Uplift Mofo Party Plan, Mother's Milk and BSS Magik).

Good mix of wild funky stuff with slowed-down sensitive songs.

I was at one of their gigs when this album came out, love it.

Jahas samanlaista kuin viimeksikin, ehkä vähän ollaan rauhotuttu viime näkemästä, kymmenen vuoden takasesta.. Katotaanko 80.. vuotta... sitten rauha koittaa teillekin... I think it is difficult to overestimate just how massive this record was when it came out. A handful of the tracks were utterly unavoidable, and the only reason why anyone would want to avoid them would be Kiedis' awful awful awful awful lyrics. But the rest of the band? Man what a group. The return of Frusciante is really evident and brings a lot of life to the whole thing. And then there is the production... What can I say, it truly is a product of its time.

I can not fathom the amount of times I’ve listened to this in my teens. There’s barely a bad track on it (some of the heavier funk stuff, “Get on Top” and “I Like Dirt”, I don’t care for) and the band is amazing - too put it mildly. Especially the return of Frusciante is evident and much welcomed! Most of the lyrics are plain awful, but at this point it is by far Kiedis’ best vocal performance. Californiacation is just pure fun and nostalgia - and I can easily look past the lyrical mess.

Pleasant album, not really ground breaking but easy enough to listen to

En hel drös med bra låtar. En stark fyra.

The first part is LOADED with great songs, it gets a little weak after Porcelain. Overall pretty solid album.

Not as up on RHCP as I should be, so enjoyed this one. A number of bangers and I think they can do both loud/fast and chill with the weedy pop pops really well

Some of the standout RHCP songs on this album. The first half is so much stronger though and ranks as my 3rd favourite RHCP album of all time

Forgot how well I knew this album, which means I must've listened to it a lot when it came out. Solid. I remember Flea berating a Hyde Park crowd for not knowing the cover they had just played (White Cross, obscure US hardcore band). Must be something to hate 99% of your fan base...

This was my first 'live' experience with a Chilli Peppers album (I was 9 when the previous one 'One Hot Minute' came out). I was hooked on it as soon as I heard the distorted bass thumbing opening to 'Around The World'. It was on repeat in my walkman and the little portable sony setup we had when we went out skateboarding and being antisocial little pricks throughout that summer and years beyond - halcyon days! Yes, there is a fair bit of filler and it began their 'sell out' mainstream reputation. But it's still an absolute riot to crank up and it's got Rick Ruban's fingerprints all over it - that's always a seal of approval in my book.

Always thought they were over-rated but really liked the whole album. Beginning was stronger than the end but fairly solid throughout.

John Frusciante made them a lot better when he came back. Some excellent songs on this. Very nostalgic to listen to again

Lots of memories of this album, mostly involving skate boards, watching my mates play in bands that sounded like RHCP, very ripped baggy jeans, converse, and 2 litre bottles of Strongbow cider

Commercialement, cet album a frappé fort.

Start with the obvious - John Frusciante is back, a huge plus. Dave Navarro was a shitty fit and not even close to John Frusciante's extraordinary skills. Next, Anthony Kiedis is back (as he never left). For me his lyrics and vocals have always been a huge weak spot for the band. This came out a decade in to a now amazing 30 plus year run. Flea and Chad are solid as usual. The songs are consistently above average for RHCPs. The expected rock, punk/funk with a few mellow songs. This is one of the better RHCP release (Blood Sugar Sex Magic and By The Way are better in my book). I will go four, although would go 3 1/2 if possible, mostly because of Anthony Kiedis.

One of my favorite RHCP albums. This is what introduced me to the deeper catalogue.

With the exception of a few pretty bad tracks near the end I thought this album was pretty sweet. The peppers sticking to more of a melodic and low key style is definitely their best sound. Lots of classics and even some of the lesser known songs were really good. 7/10

89/112

About 60% great songs, 40% constipated funk workouts with terrible vocals, so pretty promising as a RHCP album goes. Many of these tracks are played to death on the radio, but with good reason. Overall, decent result

a bit long but very enjoyable, good vocals and interesting instrumentation (fleas bass in partricular). fav song: around the world least fav: Californication

"Californication" is the seventh studio album from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and marked the return of guitarist John Frusciante and to more funk-based rock from former guitarist Dave Narravo and the heavier album "One Hot Minute." It was produced by Rick Rubin and was recorded in three weeks. The music is softer and more melodic and deals with themes in drugs, death, sex, suicide, California and travel. I admit to not being the biggest RHCP fan but I did like this quite a bit when it came out. I did get tired of some of the songs since they were played a lot on radio but this sounded great today. The band and music are very tight. The album starts strong with four RHCP classics. A guitar distorted solo starts "Around the World" which goes into the Peppers' more funk-based music. It's about traveling. Is Kiedis with one girl traveling around or hitting it off with various women? Or both? Flea's bass just rocks "Parallel Universe." Just bad ass. Daydreaming or about an out of body experience? Kiedis gets serious on their biggest album hit "Scar Tissue" with the consequence of using drugs. Very melodic. Maybe the most recognizable RHCP guitar riff and solo. And maybe one of the most mis-interpreted lyrics in "with birds I share this lonely view." I had no idea what he was saying at first. The drug theme and the melody- based music continues on "Otherside." It's slower but builds...about drug use and in particular about the overdose of their former guitarist Hillel Slovak. Kiedis makes it personal about himself. Their fourth single "Californication" is more of a ballad. According to the band, this was the hardest song to complete. Excellent guitar -slide, the intro and solo. The fake nature of California. The album ends with their fifth and last single "Road Trippin'." This a unique RHCP song with its acoustic guitar, strings and slower pace. Kiedis is traveling with friends and leaving town on the road. I haven't dug into all the Chlli Pepper albums very deeply. This is one that I had and is my favorite. It sounded great today and I was skeptical if it held up. I think time away from some of the hit songs helped. It does suffer from the CD era clocking in at nearly an hour and I do have some issues with the mixing, particularly the volume and drums. Overall though, a very good album.

An album where the sound is still distinctly Red Hot Chilli Peppers as i expected, but not in a bad way. Ignoring my expectations of the band or the culture around them, it is clearly an enjoyable album 4 songs in. Scar Tissue is clearly good and obvious why it was a hit. I don’t care for the talk lyrics in the way they do it, it feels ska? is that correct? lol but overall it definitely is a good album and can see myself playing it on a road trip but not necessarily an add

Never noticed the auto tune until this time around. But I guess that was the price of Anthony’s singing. Still has great Melodies, their third best album.

har faktisk høyrt sjukt masse på detta albumet i år hehe

This is actually a huge classic as well, only great songs in there, I do think I never listened to it from beginning to start yet but almost 100% of the songs are great, well produced and have an amazing vibe ! 4.5/5

Some classic tracks on here, even if they are a bit overplayed. But it's a solid album overall, they have quite a unique sound

3.5/5 catchy instruments but vocals get annoying after a while

nostalgic, some of my favorite songs ever are on this album. definitely can’t go wrong with RHCP.

Listened quite a few time’s nostalgia got me fucked up

Good album

just a great album

Frusciante returns! This record was a true return to form. I remember seeing them on tour for this record, and there was a sense of renewal. Great songs, well performed and though BloodSugarSexMagic was the GOAT, to me, this was the more substantial record.

I remember when this came out, the amount of air play...was never a big fan of the band but it's hard to deny the tunes on it...Around The World, Scar Tissue, Otherside, the title track...I mean, damn... that's impressive...a few skippable tracks here for me, but nice way to end up with Roadtrippin'. 3.5 stars

Not their best album, but pretty damn good. Californication is a bop

Some great songs and a few ok songs

An album I grew up listening to and thoroughly enjoy. The interesting thing with RHCP is that there is arguably no one similar. The mix of funky rock and Kiedis lyrically delivery. Each band member is important to the overall sound. Californication has a great collection of tracks and starts of very strong. The album is great for the first half and then tapers off. Could do with a shorter track list for a more punchy experience.

I had no idea they had a song as beautiful as Porcelain.

genuinely funny, sexy rock. favs: title track, get on top, otherwise, around the world

mejor álbum de los red hot no estoy dispuesta a discutir al respecto

I was a fan since Blood Sugar Sex Magic and this was a string development of their funk and straight rock sound alongside excellent songwriting. They haven’t released another album that so satisfyingly hits all the right buttons as strongly throughout (By The Way possibly, but that seems a deliberate embrace of their new found commercial market). It’s always worth waiting for Frusciante to rejoin the band.

This was the soundtrack to my 16th year and I remember learning all the guitar parts. Listening again now was refreshing, it still holds up today, a good mix of singalongs, funky and more thought provoking than I ever gave it credit for at the time in the slower ones

Around the world - Classic bass line. Energy expected for an RHCP track. Drags on a bit and loses a bit with nonsense lyrics in the last quarter. Scar tissue has the most mondegreen lyrics.

Kad se sve zbroji i oduzme ovo im je najbolji album

Californication - Red Hot Chilli Peppers

I liked it obvi, love the peps no doubt. Some good sleepers on here, Porcelain, parallel universe. And lots of good bangers too

Excellent.

It's probably got a bit too many FUNK songs on it for my personal taste, everything that is a bit more dark moody i think is amazing. A great album.

Particularly radio-friendly stuff here from the Peppers. Some good tunes if I try not to be too pretentious about it for a minute. Not my fav work from them though.

Close to being 5 stars

Very solid album.

2 for 2 on beach weekend albums. Arguments that this album hasn't aged well are largely out of proportion.

One of the RHCP best albums.

I really liked this one! :) Funky

Pretty good. Did not age at all

The last album of there’s I actually enjoyed.

Red Hot Chili Peppers were one of the bands I loved as I grew up - and I remember eaglery waiting for this album to be released after about four years since 'One Hot Minute' (and eight since 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik'). Well, I hadn't warmed up to it immediately, but over time grew to like it - with some classic songs in there - among their most popular ever released. Given their earlier albums were the ones I loved, this ushered the era of the Peppers that weren't any longer the ones I loved, despite the return of John Frusciante. 'Scar Tissue', 'Californication', 'Other Side' were great hits, but I kind of prefer some of the in-betweeners like 'Parallel Universe', 'Porcelain', 'Road Tripping' and 'Easily'. However, one of the things that I increasingly find jarring in RHCP, the older I grow, is that Kiedis sounds locked into a permanent puberty, even though on this album, like its predecessor, he matured somewhat. Anyway, it's a good album, one of the best the band released, although not my favourite.

j'ai oublié de noter l'album cependant c'était très bien merci

This is a great album. I heard it years back and really liked it.

Like a lot of music, I'm late to RHCP party. Really enjoyed the funk/rock fusion, and added.

The bangers stop it being a three, the filler stops it being a five.

A great comeback record from the fun funky rock collective RHCP. While there are some flaws like its weaker second half, and occasionally I would call this album too safe for them, it's still a fun time with plenty of great tracks to offer. A perfect time to listen here on the summer beach as well. Favorites: "Parallel Universe", "Scar Tissue", "Otherside"

A mixed bag of great tracks and album fillers. Sticks to the RHCP formula to keep the fans happy.

Pretty solid album.

couple of songs i know, but have no interest in delving into the others. if i give you a 4 can i have no more from these guys?

This album has a couple of very good tracks and I generally enjoy RHCP's funky guitar and bass lines. But there are a couple of pretty lame tracks here too and all in all it's a bit too mainstreamy for me. I enjoyed Blood Sugar Sex Magik a lot more.

The hoooks

Better than I remember, some solid sleepers.

Really enjoyed this album

Flea was the headliner at a local bookshop called Skylight Books in Los Feliz circa 1997. He was part of a reading by several local writers and poets. Flea, being the badass muscle-bound bass player for the CPs also played expendable tough guys in movies. The audience at Skylight was under strict instructions that they would not be able to leave the bookstore once in and they locked the doors right before it started. Flea, for some reason entered from the back of the store and arrived with a bodyguard who stood just offstage, crossed his arms and stared at the audience while Flea read. There couldn't have been more than 40 people there. It was the most ridiculous (and pretentious) thing I'd ever witnessed from a celeb. Especially being that Flea was a resident of Los Feliz, a small relatively friendly community just east of Hollywood where you'd bump into neighbors and familiar faces on Vermont ave or at House of Pies. I could give / take Anthony Kiedis. I always thought he and his hairless nipples were ridiculous. And, that end shot of him running at the end of Under the Bridge was even more reason to hate him. Anyhow, I think this album came after the band had already been replaced by other crappy bands like Incubus, Dashboard Confessional and others. In many ways RHCP had jumped the shark and then they put out this album, which was .... as much as I hate to say, catchy and enjoyable. Even now, more than 10 years later this album is still fun. There's nothing new here, it's the same RHCP, this album doesn't break any boundaries or explore the far reaches of late 90's rock and maybe that's what I like about it. It's less pretentious, almost like an admission by the band ... "Yep, we're old and your parents probably listened to us when they were young, but we can still put together a song with some melodies and entertain you." Since then, Anthony Kiedis put on a shirt, and grew a little caterpillar on his top lip. And, tho I don't know for sure, I'm hoping that Flea ditched the bodyguard and decided to either get his ass beat or fight his own battles when reading poetry. https://youtu.be/GLvohMXgcBo?t=202 but with a little less fanfare and was ridiculous wThis album is similar in that it believes it's very deserving of all kinds of airplay and praise, to be held in high regard it's much better than it is and deserves airplay and praise

I kinda love the RHCP but I know other people hate them (or at least feel very ambivalent about them). I have always enjoyed their more bass driven sound. 1 star off for anytime Anthony Kiedis tries to do that rap-rock thing.

Probably a 3 star album but it has a nice feeling and I'm a bit of a fan, so I'm bumping it up. Fave: Road Trippin'

One of my first rock records. Amazing album

I wasn't crazy about this album when it first came out, as it was stylistically pretty far from the BloodSugarSexMagik-era Chili's that I worshipped at the time. Hearing it again so far removed from that time, it's packed with hits and RHCP classics and is totally part of the Frusciante & the boys legacy of this unique band.

Never quite got to five star territory despite the classics on here

I don't know why, but I find RHCP annoying if I listen to them for too long. I shouldn't, but I do, for some unbeknownst reason. It might be their vocalist, their repetitive style or California looming over almost every song. Anyway, it was hard for me to focus on the whole album. Nonetheless, every song as an isolated entity has a lot of value: guitar & bass are splendid and compositions are live and catchy. Overall: despite my resentment it's a good record. Highlight: Road Trippin' - Frusciante's voice with acoustic setup did wonders here

It’s not a perfect album but the bangers like scar tissue other side and californication make up for all the duds. Also the second half has some like psychedelic sounds or something but it’s cool

Good stuff! I particularly enjoy their slower stuff, like Scar Tissue, Otherside, Savior and Road Trippin'.

Some bangers on here, good stuff by them. 8/10

Not a fan of the band, but this album was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed that it had more melody and harmony rather than their style of rapping and funk I tend to not like. All 4 members are great musicians and it is really evident with the album’s production that highlights it.

Great album with some massive hits. Liked how they reduced the funk sound which is ultimately what made the album more enjoyable to me

This was a proper gateway album for me so it's hard to be critical. These days I can't stand what the chilli peppers are or do, but for some reason this album was a sliding doors moment where what they produced happened to be what I needed. It's an alright listen. Probably more about the memories it invoked than it being quality.

Chilli behind the foreskin is a lovely, sexy birthday treat. Try it.

I liked it at the time and still like it now. There's some filler of course, but generally pretty good. Incredible video for Californication too. I think since the success of this, they've tried to make this same album over and over again, without much success. By the Way is good too to be fair.

I generally don't like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and this is definitely a Red Hot Chili Peppers album. The white boy funk is present, the terrible lyrics are present (just naming places does not a lyric make), the whinging songs about drug addiction are present and yet it is far more bearable than anything else they have ever done. This was John Frusciante's first album back with the band after he went all in on the smack for most of the '90s. His guitar sound on this album coupled with the Rick Rubin production is massive. It's a shiny big pop-rock album that even manages to make the sporadic bursts of rap-rock listenable.

Was lucky enough to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers at T in the park 2006 one of my all time favourite live performances. This is one of these albums I really like, from Around the World to Californication is brilliant, with Otherside being one of my favourite songs, but the second half is such a let down I usually never get to the end of the album, which is a shame as the album ends on road tripping which is a great song. The mastering on this album is also very poor, these two points make it hard to give this album full marks, but a very good 4 star album that is one of my personal favourites.

I don't love every song but as a whole the album is solid pepper.

The first half of the album is so good, and a couple of nice songs on the second half. Overall, this is a great album.

Good album. Still sounds ok.

What is there to say? Have listened to it a hundred times and it holds up. The second half drags a little bit but the first half is all fire.

A favourite. Such ridiculous bass and lyric decisions.

Most excellent

Great album.

Otherside is one of the greatest songs of all time. But this is a little too long :,(

An old stand-by for me. I love RHCP. Bass player is one of the best there is, and this is one of my favorite albums of theirs.

Truly a great album. Some real classics on there. I'm not sure about the funk stuff though - does anyone actually like that?

A lot of people give RHCP hate, and especially this era onward when they got super radio friendly, but I always liked it. Solid songs, if a little overplayed, and a lot of fun. It could maybe slim down a bit, but what album in the late nineties wasn't kinda bloated lol.

loads of sings you can't help but already know, it's good, guitar solos are boring though

I'm always a Chili Peppers fan. Lots of great songs on this one, but some of it gets a little weird so only 4 stars.

Always a good listen

Def woke me up this AM - it's been a while since I heard this album

Pretty good.

Have heard most of these songs a bunch of times when I was younger. Didn't notice some cool things like the polyrhythms on the opening track until just now. I forgot about porcelain, what a nice and sad song. Back half of the album isn't as strong as the first, but still good.

not a fan of RHCP but have to admit this is a pretty good album. even the songs that aren't top 40 hits are solid. like it more than I expected.

Back in '99-'00 I was almost sick and tired of this album as it was pretty much everywhere and that's a sure way to make me run away from an artist. However, I've always been a RHCP fan and I just gave this album time to cool off. How long? Some 15 years x-D ...I still think Bloodsugarsexmagik is their peak achievement and I resented a bit that they lost a huge chunk of their funkier side, not entirely, but just enough. Guess they've reclaimed some of it since, but, anyway, Californication is a huge album.

Haven’t heard it in full for a while, not as good as I remembered it but it is a classic alright, another one from the golden era of MTV, remember the videos it came with? My good did they went the extra mile for that, back then hit records needed hit videoclips and californication was a superb example of that, cinematic Impressionism in Scar Tissue, concept video with otherside and of course, state of the art technological advance show off with Californication, me and my siblings would spend hours looking a those clips and even downloading them from the internet, good times. Now the record: it’s maybe too long and tries to keep the funk from BSSM even though they were in a completely different place by then, some songs are just too out of the concept even if they sound Peppers AF, the word californication sound just silly nowadays but let’s remember that this is the album that gave us Scar tissue and Road trippin which are both classics for the ages.

Solid album. Starts off strong, first half is absolutely killer. 2nd half a little more filler but no bad songs

Good stuff

Ok, a bit low bass though.

Great album. I had listened to it before but it had been awhile. Still a lot really good songs. The first half of the album is better than the second half.

This sounds exactly like what you would think it would and somehow more. It definitely has way more depth than I initially gave it credit for. Definitely can only gain from more than one listen.

This is probably a three star album, let's be honest, but I've got a massive soft spot for it, so bumping it up to four. I'm a John Frusciante fanboy, for sure. A lot of these tracks made great karaoke tunes, too. Fave track - "Otherside", maybe, or "Parallel Universe"

The return of Frusciante meant the return of RHCP period. It’s easy to forget that by 1999 they had become a somewhat forgotten band. In Californication however they delivered an absolute monster of an album - the chemistry was back and the band were reborn. The singles were massive; Scar Tissue, Californication, Otherside and Around the world were all huge. But it’s when you get past the big hits where the real joy of this album lies. There is still lots of old school raw RHCP funk but blended increasingly with the more mellow, melodic side of the band (for me this is where more of the stronger tracks on the album lie). Keidis’ vocals are his strongest yet, Flea and Smith are an absolute force of a rhythm section and Frusciante sprinkles the magic on top.

One of my favourite Chillis albums but the back end has some filler. First half is absolutely banging.

Delightful

Excellent first half carries a weak back half.

Iconic, Similar, Classics.

Some great songs mixed in with old school RHCP funk. Not their worst album.

My favorite version of the Chili Peppers is the one where John Frusciante came back to the band after rehab (which starts with this album) and encouraged the band to lean in to the California Pop sound. I love it when the Chili's embrace the harmonies like the Eagles and Beach Boys would do. They do that on the better songs from this album, and really fine tune that element on their follow up album, "By The Way", which is my favorite RHCP album. I always waver between calling the band the Chili's and the Pepper's. They surely don't give a shit. But my wavering is somewhat fitting. Sometimes Kiedis goes all in with the harmonies, but other times he realizes he's got an epic bass player in Flea who just wants to funk out all over the place. And that's not a bad thing at all. There's great beauty in a song like "Porcelain" that sits just fine with Flea slapping that bass all over on "Around The World" and "Emit Remmus". I'll never understand why a song like "I Like Dirt" exists among these gems. Makes me wish Rick Rubin would have tightened up the number of songs a bit.

Både funky og stille. Dejlige album, med 3-4 sange for meget

Not my favorite RHCP album but some great music on there.

Drugi najbolji RHCP album, ako ne i najbolji. Definitivno veliki klasik.

After the first initial tracks it get a little dull but it holds only drops to a 3.6.
