Reviews (page 7 of 8)

Eh, no thanks

Loud, upbeat, but not fun. 2/5

*Like the 1999 version of The B-52s. *Same lead singer as Bikini Kill. *Don't much care for this style. RATING - 4/10

I was between a 1 and 2 for this one but I’ll give it the star for having some brevity. Didn’t really hate it but didn’t really like it.

Had low expectations knowing this was going to be another feminist punk album (seems to be a lot of them popping up on this list lately), but the first 2 songs were pretty good. It falls off thereafter until you get to Let's Run. I can appreciate My My Metrocard because these girls were way ahead on hating Rudy Giuliani. Slideshow At Free University was also a change of tempo I didn't see coming. I land at around 2.5 stars, but I feel like I enjoyed it as much as the last album we had so I'll give it the same grade: High 2.

Slideshow At Free University was a banger, I wish more of the album was like that. Another disappointing entry. Singing was very rough.

Riot grrrl is a ridiculous name for a music genre, and I am afraid that I am not going to enjoy this based off that. I was correct in my assumption. Did not enjoy. Slideshow at a Free University was cool enough to make this a really low 2.

I think they made the song “Hot Topic” for the store. That’s not a selling point. Musically, they are solid. That voice is just above fingernails on a chalkboard though

Masete sanger. Ble litt bedre utover plata. Svak 2’er.

I know the idea was to flip the table, but playing annoyingly out of tune like in Les and Ray is just childish. Had potential, but ended up falling short. 5/10

kunst, und künstlich?!

# 500 : Le Tigre : 11/06/2025 I don't love it, I don't hate it. A couple of things stood out but no songs that connected with me. It’s good, but not great

Creative, but a bit too much over the place for me.

Yeah whatever. Not really my vibe.

This is an interesting album. It reminds me a lot of the B-52s but with a more robust rythym section. Really love the groove of the bass and drums on a lot of the songs. Definitely some danceable music here. The lyrics aren’t straightforward but there are some themes. Who doesn’t like a song about stops on the Metro? I have mixed feelings about the singers. They sound almost juvenile and the singing is kinda buried in the mix when the samples are definitely not. Otherwise it is not a bad album. Just not sure if I would listen to it again. Favorites include “Deceptacon”, “Phanta”, “Let’s Run”, “My My Metrocard”, and “Friendship Station” (Love that backbeat).

Please see my review on The Offspring, which is mostly a rant on the state of 90s music. Nineties bands spent the whole decade picking up the scraps of the prior decades and trying to build something new. By 1999, those scraps were all gone, there was nothing new left, so instead of creating something new, most bands just borrowed from everything that came before and slapped on a new genre label to try and expain what they are doing. As for the Feminist statement, I get it, and I have no problem with that, the problem here, is the music is not that great.

decent

The The Empty is gewoon echt verschrikkelijk... FAVO: Slideshow at free university

Fluctuated wildly between kinda enjoying it, and it just being noise.

Apple Music has this album under alternative which I think is completely wrong easily pop rock/electronic rock. Samplers are only thing that really stood out when listening to the album but other than that it feels repetitive. Album really reminds me of teen titans theme song lol which cool but can get old real fast if on repeat stand out songs: Deceptacon, The the Empty, Eau D’ Bedroom Dancing, Friendship Station, and Les and Ray although I think Les and Ray should be on a different album. Honorable mentions: Dude Yr so Crazy!! Only issue the lyrics enjoy instrumental tho.

...wait a minute, these girls did that awful "I'm With Her" video back in 2016, right? I like the instrumentation on this album a fair bit, but the tedious vocal delivery and awful mix kills it completely.

Dancing that fine line - both proper shit and pretty good. A wobbly 2.5.

The glimpses of old school punk attitude shine among more sloppy and half baked ideas

EXTREMELY 90s

Female singer had a yelly annoying voice and the male was worse. The songs were juvenile sounding lyrically, almost like they were written for an SNL skit. Not great.

Obviously very weird but I liked it more than I thought. The first song was pretty good. Not my usual style though. Some of the ones with like glass breaking noises etc are not so good for casual listening.

Imagine the backyardigans grew up to be the most annoying women at a family bbq

Better than some of the other albums, seemed very experimental. Would give it 2.5 if I could.

There were a couple of tolerable songs but for the most part this was a pretty forgettable compilation of pseudo-intellectual crap with "What's Yr Take on Cassavetes" epitomizing that.

A few good songs. Feels like a nice gateway to Tigre.

5/10 At times I thought this was going to be a really fun listen but in the end it was probably just a bit too punk-y for my taste: a bit too discordant and droning and I’m really not a fan of the guitar tones. Best songs: Hot Topic, What’s Yr Take on Cassavetes?, Slideshow At Free University Listens: 2

Great for an angsty teen who like whiny voices and statement music

punk is just not for me

Deceptacon

Not for me

I like slacker rock, but slacker pop walks the line between being carefree / fun and being outright annoying. Around 22 min in (My My Metrocard), the novelty of the late 90s/early 00s dance-pop slacker pop had run dry. 2/5

Started off good but slowly become annoying.

This is #day199 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and... let’s go rrriot, right? Some electro-dance punk here with influences from '60s pop, '80s new wave, '90s indie, and occasionally annoying vocals. I think it’s an important record in the context of the riot grrrl movement, even if that movement was criticized for not being inclusive enough. But whatever... I’m giving this a 2 out of 5. Looking forward to #day200—can’t believe it!

Does not sound as cool as it did when it came out, but that’s okay. Didn’t actually do tons for me then; doesn’t do much for me now.

I enjoyed the big hit single on this record but overall I find their voices to be a bit annoying and the album is repetitive.

I tried but not for me

Correcto

4/10. Decent punk rock album, not my style

Light weight Go-Go's.

When I was 19 my flatmate played this album and my other flatmate said it sounded like a bunch of angry lesbians.

Probs another 2*s

Some of it was cool but some of those sounds they used over and over and over got really grating there towards the end.

Female voices! I want to like riot grrl music but I don't. I like the idea of them and I'd probably like them as people, but I don't like the music, or at least I don't like this much.

Her voice is annoying and the songs are repetitive

I enjoyed enough not to give it a1l 1, but it was close

proto indie probably a head of thyme and influential alas i do not enjoy it

They seem to be yelling the lyrics. 2/5

Alleen eerste nummer goed

Sounds like Wet Leg, don't like Wet Leg.

I'd never heard of this band. The first time I listened to it I thought it was dreadful but I put it on again and it started growing on me. It was actually quite good at masking the noise of fireworks from the dog!

Fun and somewhat enjoyable, but not musically interesting whatsoever 2.5

Groupe inconnu. Les morceaux sont en général courts et énergiques (+1), mais l'instrumentation est minimaliste et chaque morceau est très répétitif (même riff tout le long). Je n'y reviendrais pas. =>2/5

Was hoping I might like this and on the one hand, sometimes the vibe was quite fresh and catchy, all too often it strayed into annoying.

imagine being the dude in this band

Indie/harcore. Achei fraco

Nothing interesting here.

The energy and sharpness of this album are cool, but the sound is pretty thin, the production is blah, and the vocals range from nonstandard to flat-out bad. It’s definitely a unique spin on punk, so I can appreciate it but I’m not a big fan of it. Best song: Slideshow at Free University

朋克

Not for me

Sound like a slew of Similar-sounding bands who All did it better. Say yes to the Ting Tings, La Roux, CSS, & Gossip. Less of a fan of Le Tigre. A few tracks were aight: Friendship Station stands out.

Horrible voices

Didn't hate it, but I didn't like it either. Nothing special. The second song sounds like a commercial for boots.

This album starts off pretty well, with Decepticon being a fun, bouncy track. Unfortunately, the album falls off sharply after that with the remaining tracks varying between just about ok and not very good. It's a shame, I like the ethos of the band and wanted to like the music more, but it's fundamentally weak. A semi-foof.

I’d rather listen to the first sounds - Devo, the Go Gos, etc.

Fun but not amazing overall 4/10

Never heard their music, but deceptacon sounded familiar right away. This sounds very 90s. Not my jam, but I don't hate it, 2* Highlights: deceptacon, slideshow at free university Metric came on after this and I was like, ah yes, this is a refined version of le tigre.

The screeching. My eardrums hurt. Music was ok.

Le Boring. Le Missed the Mark. Le Forced Art Pop-Rock. Le Annoying at Times. Le Nope…

I’m down with the ladies and their message, but musically this was pretty annoying

First song I was thinking “ohhhh, this could be fun.” Just some unapologetic rocking. After a few more songs I was like, “okay, okay I get it.” Just didn’t sustain for me.

I wanted this album to be more of a bop than it turned out to be. I was optimistic after the first song but kinda fizzled. Maybe sitting in the airport waiting on a delayed flight to wasn’t the best setting for this type of record… 2.5/5

Poppy dancing shit, not good

Some interesting/fun instrumentation that is let down by the continually screechy or otherwise infantine vocals and, indeed, the occasional lyrics that are "dumb like a linoleum floor” (not really, but I couldn't pass up on the opportunity; that said, they are mostly unexceptional). Deceptacon and The The Empty grew on me the most (funnily enough the two tracks most exemplary of the "screechy" vocals), and along the unexpectidely soft/vulnerable Eau d'bedroom Dancing (my favorite among the bunch) are good/great. (Phanta is decent as well, and I wish that "Slideshow at Free University" was not an interlude/had actual lyrics/verses; it sounds like something that MF Doom would use to great effect.)

Vettefan, inte min grej. Punk blir tråkigt när de helt ger upp på musiken och bara fokuserar på politiska texter.

I listened, but not close enough to comment.

If they can write music, maybe I can too

Le Tigre sounds like a bunch of Asian school girls are singing vocals. Favourite songs: Deceptacon, Let's Run Least favourite songs: Dude Yr So Crazy!! 2/5

Бабы поют какое-то говно типо панк-хуянк не пойму 4/10

Not my cup of tea. I give this 2 stars.

Coffee Shop. Artsy.

Maybe a couple songs were okay but otherwise kinda screamy

Och när får jag något bra? Det här var inte särskilt bra.

miaou miaou

que ca crie

This album was a surprise to see on this list. Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill) is an interesting person and Bikini Kill was a cool band with a couple of good songs and a whole lot of attitude. I never like this band and I don't think that they are great musicians. 2 stars based on Bikini Kill nostalgia.

Eith half of the length, it could be good.

Meh, okay. punk sounds might not be my thing

A couple of good ones

First minute of the first song is pretty good! When assholes say they hate Hipster music, this is the music they are referring to. Just bleh. Also I’m probably just too dumb to understand all the cool references they’re making

Distortion sounds almost blown out at times and may not be for everyone, but it gives the music an archive feel that 60s music videos had when watching them as a kid in the 80s/90s 1-4 are choppy and short punk songs, with surf-rock-like rhythms and shouting lyrics. 5-6 are slower ballad-like songs that showcase some rough guitar work. 7-8 60s Fun pop rock and surf rock feel. 9- sounds like a Beck song 10- talking over repetitive piano riff, trying to make a point, but the riff is too droning and uninteresting for me to care. Could use a chorus or background singer. Last few songs get a bit ambient and lost my attention.

I agree the songs were too repetitive and started to grate on me. Would not re-listen or recommend.

Much too repetitive. Extremely simple. Each sing seems to go nowhere.

No previous experience with the artist or this album. The album starts out with an alt-pop-rock feel that feels pretty raw almost like They Might Be Giants. Nothing blowing me away in the first half of the album. Some of it is a little annoying and most of it is just fine. In the 2nd half, "Slideshow At Free University" stands out a bit too me it has sort of a DJ Shadow feel to it and I happen to really enjoy that style. The whole album flew by and I'll probably never revisit any of it.

3 people make sounds that have been made before instantly forgetable

Sounds like noise, not much positive to voice

Not great but not bad.

dude this is so crazy!!!

Wasn’t a fan may try another listen a different time

Couple of good times on here, but not a fan overall.

I dunno, I feel like I’m missing something with this album

# Playlist track - Let's run # Notes - It's kind of angry, punk, and interesting, but also a bit repetitive and not fun. - Not for me.

I listened to the whole things, and I should get a participation trophy for that. The songs ran together into one long song. I know there are people that like this music, it just isn't me.

Women screaming to absurd "music." Did not like.

It’s kinda fun, but the vocals are very annoying.

Next 5 songs played by my Spotify Algorithm: Peaches Kelli Pop - Princess Castle 1987 The Amps - Just Like a Briar Pixies - Tame Long Leg - Butt Sister Bikini Kill - Carnival

A quirky mix. Not that interesting to me.

Such a screechy voice is nothing enjoyable. Plus the sons were pretty boring..

Fun punk rock that exceeded my low expectations. It’s a 2.5 for me as I’m not a punk rock fan

I wish the band well for their future endeavours of being an early warning siren for hurricanes or an aid for dispersing rioters/dissidents of totalitarian regimes.

Sounds like something you would hear at a record store. Got bored quickly

Multiple times looked down at my phone to see how much time was left in a song. Repetitive riffs and vocals weren't my style.

Punk! I didn't pay too much attention to it but I, surprisingly to myself, didn't mind it. I'd listen to a few of the songs again. There was some interesting variety with songs like Slideshow at Free University. I'd probably give it a 5/10. Nothing special but inoffensive. Maybe I'll grow to like punk.

Livenä varmaan 5/5

Not really into the vocals sometimes. I can do without the spoken word. Other than that, it's alright.

Poppet 90’er punk, politisk, oprørsk

not my kind of punk

Deceptacon //

Not terrible, but the lead singer isn’t quite able to pull off what needs to happen for this album to really soar. Gets repetitive to my ears and no connective tissue to the music

No. Just no

Not really my thing

This was just "Hey Mickie" over and over again. More than one of the song used literal lists as lyrics.

Too simplistic, easy listening punk rock for my taste which isn't really memorable. It sounds quite lazy and bland overall, and they make feminism too much the centre of their identity. There are some songs that have a nicer sound/atmosphere though but overall it wasn't my cup of tea. Luckily it was a short album.

They were cooking on “What’s Yr Take On Cassavetes”, but the rest, well, you know. It’s just not very great. It’s more cookie cutter punk from the branch of singers with annoying timbres and boring riffs with no variation the entire song.

A couple of songs were good

Reminds me a little of Self Esteem.

Respect to Kathleen Hanna, pioneer, innovator, icon. This wasn't her best work. It was good, but I wouldn’t have it on any lists.

It was alright, I liked most of it, but I wouldn’t listen to it often. Feels like it could get irritating.

This is an album that frankly just isn’t for me. I am not really the target audience, and the movements that Kathleen Hanna helped pioneer never appealed to me all that much beyond what bands like Sleater Kinney contributed to it. I think there’s some interesting ideas going on with drumbeat sampling, and the final track is a stand out, but the overall package is not one I cares much for.

Yes, I'd rather not. The riffing is OK, but the caterwauling really isn't helping

what IS my take on Cassavetes?!

So a Sleater-Kinney knock off band gets listed on 1001 Albums of All Time? What is going on here?? Giving ⭐️⭐️s, ‘cause I don’t want to ruin my good standing with the lesbian community.

The upside is the guitar lick on Let’s Run sent me down an INXS rabbit hole.

Some decent moments here and there, but mostly noise. Favorite track: Let's Run

Not a fan of the vocals or immature sound

There’s some lofi quirkyness and minimalist parts that I like but I didn’t enjoy listening to this one much.

Loud and obnoxious. No melody to speak of. Probably just not my thing. 2/5

Not one for this list.

Wist eigenlijk nooit dat de jaren 90 zoveel geschreeuw als muziek had. Beste nummer was de eerste wat ervoor zorgde dat ik er echt niet doorheen kwam

No thx man

Interesting but not my style.

Not good.

I'm not a fan. There's a few interesting tracks in there, and some others that sit in the 'not bad' category, but there's also a lot that are just very noisy and screechy.

A few good bits, bit too much quirky shouting for me

Orkar inte. De första 30 sekunderna räckte!

Not a fan. Again, I would be really bummed if I did not make the Top 1001 and this did.

Mid album, alternative and a bit fun, but mid

absolutely not for me. just noise and rambling. 2.

Not that terrible but I'm not suprised I've never heard of this before

This riot grrrls faux punk is great in two situations. A weekend night with a half dozen girls getting ready to go out, climbing over each other to claim a patch of mirror. This is playing in the background to put them in the mood for a night of dancing. Some songs however sounded just like the music in party scenes in British movies of the late 60s/early 70s where all the furnishings were brown and orange and men wore brown corduroy. I admire the energy. But it was all lack of style and too smart Aleck-y for my liking.

I never quite got the love for this band. There are a couple decent tracks here, but even with a modest run time it drags. Perhaps its an unfair comparison but Bikini Kill > Le Tigre any day.

One song is okay, but an entire album with vocals that feel like I’m being yelled at? No thanks.

meh. Decent but didn't really hold my interest.

Met my expectations

Has a bit of a pop punk style to it which I liked in parts. But overall wasn't a big fan.

Sanitised pop punk meh. Actually quite disliked it. "Slideshow at free university" was the only track I kinda liked and it didn't have the vocalist in

Not that special I think.

So, my final opinion on this album is a lot more positive than my initial opinion - but my initial opinion was that it's complete junk. I still think it's rather painful to listen to. But I do applaud these ladies' musical creativity, variety, dedication, energy and vision. There were also some things (mostly the 80's synth-pop vibes) I enjoyed about the music itself, but not nearly enough to make this album an enjoyable experience.

No inclination to organize listening notes into anything more. Deceptacon - fun, summer vibe. Hot Topic - swingy and still fun. Until the name checking at the end. The one about John Cassavetes was where it took a turn for the worse. And the barking didn’t help. Made me want to listen to ‘Pepper’ or ‘People Who Died’. Just to cleanse my palate. Then came ‘The the Empty’ - no. No. NO. It hurt my ears. Phanta - OK. Thinking about Missing Persons… or maybe the Waitresses Eau de…. OK Let’s Run. I like this one My My Metrocard- great for the first few seconds before the vocals started. Friendship Station - this one is good. Melody, beat, no ear-bleeding inducing vocal. Slideshow - ‘Sunscreen’ anyone? Dude - random words. Why? Les and Ray - why save this perfectly nice song until last? If I hadn’t committed to listening to this album for this project I never would have heard it because I would have stoped listening at ‘The the Empty’.

They like the repetition

One track genius. Four tracks fine. Twelve tracks that's enough now.

Deceptacon: a very cool song that sampled a very cool song. Great lyrics and vocals and a great representation of pop punk. 4/5 Hot Topic: a mantra constantly chanted in the back. Uno what, if it chnaged in the back it would be almost as good as the previous song but it’s not. The vocals do continue greatly and the composition and combinations of instruments is very cool still. 3/5 What’s yr take on casavette: right, tbf I didn’t know who he was before this song so bonus points for education. However, the song just sounds and feels lazy and very cheap and childish. -2/5 The the empty: the guitar is cool and so are the vocals but they don’t do anything different. I’m convinced if you listened to this song without lyrics you wouldn’t be able to understand. Lack of variety in the song again. Just very lazy for a sound with such potential. -1/5 Phanta: ok I like this song. Yes, because it’s about a topic I’m interested in. But it tells a story which means the lyrics are great and the vocals continue their strength. The sound is also pretty cool so and overall half decent song. 2/5 Eau D’bedroom dancing: does something different!!! Even if it is slightly lazy. The guitar is cool and the sound changes so it has to be positive despite the monotony of the song. If you weren’t focused on the song and had it on in the background I fully believe you could listen to it and not even realised it had been on. 0/5 Let’s run: lyrics resonate and I like the attitude. It sounds cool but if I tell u to focus on the guitar riff. That’s the song. That’s it. Nothing else. But for some reason I rlly do like this song. 2/5 My my metro card: kinda went pass me without noticing anything. Not because it was bad but because I enjoyed it. 3/5 Friendship station: a cool but another lazy sound. However this sound is different and fits nicely in the album. 2/5 Slideshow at free university: cool adlibs I guess. But like. What’s with the repetition. Where’s the creativity. Ironic with the songs lyrics. 1/5 Dude yr so crazy:it’s 1am. Not much to say but this song is just shit. Words and a repetitive sound. Where have I heard this??? -3/5 Les and ray: it’s a song so already above the previous one. Vocals let me down. Sounds okish I guess. Just want it to end now. -1/5 Total:0/5

Good first song. Besides that I didn’t enjoy most

Fun but felt a little frantic.

Why in the world this would be in the 1001 albums you must listen to list is beyond me?!?

If I ordered the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack on Wish.

Punk sounding with late 90s political lyrics.

Slightly less egregious than your usual arthouse affair but only just. Not enough material for an album

Not really my cup of tea.

Hmphmmmm. Way too screaming teenage angst for me. Very mindless too. Like the riffs of a few song but that's about it. Will never revisit this album again.

It was ok. I'm a bit conflicted I'd say a 4-6/10, maybe 7.

Interesting songs, but overall a bit to strange

Parts of this really rock but I’m not a huge fan of the singer and can’t understand the lyrics more often than I’d like

I remember this album being a thing when it came out. I appreciate what it is doing but from a purely music listening experience I did not enjoy it then or now. It feels hyper aware of itself and the 'cute' and 'edgy' things it was doing in the 90s just seem out of context and not fun now. Listen once so you know what it sounds like but never again.

Has good poppy bits that get ruined by the sound of broken glass

Was too angsty for me, not very enjoyable.

thought it was going to be good, but then it wasn't (for me)

I think there have been much better Feminist focused music and this ain’t it chief.

Weird.

Deceptacon is the only song I like

Not very good. Shrieking voice and uninspiring music, kind of sounds like a Battle of the Bands band. 4/10.

Un disco muy disparejo. Empieza muy bien con Deceptacon y va perdiendo ímpetu. Creo que es una buena idea que ya no se desarrolló. 2.5 que baja a 2.

What's yr take on LeTigre? Missoginist, Genius! Alcoholic, Messiah! Ok, me zurró en general y pocas palabras. Subidas en el tren de esa época y llenas de fem-power, pero la voz de plano está fuera de lo que quiero escuchar.

Kinda silly pop that wants to be punk. No terrible but not something I would dig outta of the collection. Hope they had fun.

Catchy, but I find it rather annoying. Sounds like advert music.

This was about as bad as I expected it to be. It's too poppy and girly and I couldn't stand that cutesy voice they were doing. I usually hate feminists and feminism, but it didn't bother me here, probably because I couldn't even take them seriously. The best they could do is make me roll my eyes at the ramblings of some dumb little girls.

very much background noise, upbeat but forgettable

This album is like a lobster roll topped with sauerkraut, Brussels sprouts, and chicken livers. There’s some good stuff in there, but the associated crap doesn’t make it worth the effort.

Fucking weird but a little bit of a bop at times

Didn't really enjoy this album. The second half of the album was definitely better than the first though, felt the first few songs were too loud that I couldn't even hear the singer at all. "Eau d'bedroom Dancing" my favourite track.

Eh. Reminded me a big of the B-52s at times. Couple decent tracks, but overall forgettable

I didn't hate it, but the vocals were nerve grating.

noisy disco kitschy agit-pop!

4/10. Good energy, but a little grating nonetheless.

The terrible music takes away from the cause their lyrics are in protest of.

This was both annoying and just not good. Annoying voice, simple and bothersome electronic beats, hardly real singing.....

No ei ollut kyllä ihmeellinen

Meh I get it. They're edgy. Kinda catchy at times but not memorable

good music, terrible vocals

Never lives up to the first song

Good not great. Forgettable

Ok. Kinda grunge-y pop. Was a bit repetitive. Nothing special.

I wasn't really a fan of the singer's voice and nothing stood out as particularly interesting for me.

This is what happens when you grow up listening to too much Yoko Ono

No me dice gran cosa este disco, lo peor cuando meten esa base electronica.

Not my sound maybe?

Tried I really did, lost interest after decaptacon.

I get why people would like it but it's just a bit grating for me.

Not really my thing

Lil annoying

Pretty weird. Not exactly unenjoyable but just...weird.

First thing in this project I really disliked. Found the singing incredibly grating when it wasn't pretentious intoning.

Not for me

First song is cool then the monotone screaming gets annoying

hard to listen, 2.5 at best

Oh man. I really wanted to like this, but it was chaotic and it gave me a headache. Punk is a genre that I still have not really gotten into, I guess.

Absolute shit

Not for me

Eh. Not for me. So 90s tho.

Probably the greatest album to grace middle school and high school weird kids and proto-feminists in the early 2000s. An album for people who were too afraid to actually protest anything but would listen to this while scowling at people they pass in the street or at the mall. It's for the converse-wearing angst-ridden awkward phase of their life teen outcasts. It's too happy for people who shopped at Hot Topic and too edgy for people who bought American Eagle. The people who genuinely like this music are in their 30s now, drive Subaru Outbacks or Honda CRVs to their office job and jump on every opportunity to tell us how poorly their country has declined since their youth - while unknowingly being a cog in the system they hate so much. Their favorite movie is still either "Juno" or "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" and they unironically wear backpack buttons in the year 2026. 1/10 - I have always - and will continue to - hate this genre of music. Poorly written, poorly sung, poorly composed. Making noise is not making music. Slapping a brush with paint on it onto a canvas is not art. Art and music require effort, which this has none of.

Noisy powder puff girls.

Weird music

I'm happy this was short. To me it felt they were trying really hard to sound like not trying. I understand it has a political background, but I do not care to listen to the message if the medium is boring.

Überflüssiger Lärm

Dang...this album started off really strong with "Deceptacon" and then kind of just sucked. The vocals are annoying, every song is so repetitive, and it all starts to blend together. 1.5 because it isn't the WORST album. Liked Song: "Deceptacon" , "The The Empty" , "Let's Run"

Honestly. The worst record I have ever heard. This is so bad!

I can’t.

Le Nope

Why does it sound so annoying

Opening track immediately reminds of B-52s - female vocalist style of singing, bouncy vibe…I’m thinking this might be good. But all similarities end there. B-52s were quirky in the most sincere and cool way possible. This is pretentious trash. Not a track worthy of relisten. Bye. 1/5

Well, that was pointless. It doesn't matter what you're singing, if you can't sing and your music is boring as hell.

Shut uuuuuuup. Is so shit.

What's your take on repetitive garbage? What's your take on repetitive garbage? What's your take on repetitive garbage? What's your take on repetitive garbage? Hollow! Childish! Hollow! Childish! Hollow! Childish! Hollow! Childish! Wrote three lines and made an album! Wrote three lines and made an album! Wrote three lines and made an album! Wrote three lines and made an album!

A hard no.

Heavy going

Stupid music. All songs sound the same. No originality.

Ei helvetti

Traz umas guitarras bacanas, mas nada suficiente para atrair atenção. Fraco!

Mediocre chick rock

Is this not the fictional band from Scott Pilgrim??

Not really my cup of tea for feminist riot girl punk. It was a little too pop and not enough bite or crunch to it for my taste

Annoying.

I find this too viscerally annoying. I can't get past it.

Pretentious as hell with all the depth of a road-side puddle. Not for me. 1/5.

Jao, ne mogu više ove pokušaje panka, naporno više. 1/5, 1/10

Le okay

Just wasn’t very good……….

Erg kut, sommige nummers klinken alsof een vrouwelijke Cartman aan het blèren is. Dit ga ik nooit meer luisteren

I FUCKING HATE FEMINISTS! I FUCKING HATE FEMINISTS! I! FUCKING! HATE! FEMINISTS! Sorry for being too aggressive. I agree that toxic masculinity is as toxic as hell cause my boyfriend is often being mocked because he is a crybaby and a long-haired art student who is also afraid of cockroaches. but radical feminism ruined my life by saying that men are trash and ridicules me for being too devoted to a my boyfriend. so, let me present to you, the radfem logic in two sentences: women and men should be equal. (well, they even put women in front of men, letting them become the first sex.) and all men are trash. SO THEY ARE ALSO TRASH ACCORDING TO THEIR OWN LOGIC! BEHOLD! WHAT A LOOPHOLE! AND THE BAND NAME IS ALSO IN FRENCH AND I HAVE FRANCOPHOBIA! AND THEY USED THAT MALL GOTH CLOTHING STORE AS A SONG NAME although I got a really decent jacket from that store. And let me count all the things that radical feminists and the cyberbullying from some of them give to this world: MY DISASSOCIATION! YEAH! MY DEPRESSION! YEAH! MY PARANOIA! YEAH! MY TRAUMA DUMPING! YEAH! AND TERFS! INCREASED TRANSPHOBIA! THE RUINED LIFE OF MY IMAGINARY LITTLE SISTER WHO IS MTF! They just can’t understand an autistic mf who treats objectification as a joke literally. i hate peopple who gets offensive by bad jokes i mean i know the joke is bad but its offencive. bad jokes never get this offensive. i just posted "i wanna be your dog" and they think that im really a bootlicker and consider my boyfriend as a manchild. i mean he is to some extent, cause he is afraid of cockroaches. they should really walk a mile in my shoes but they wont cause as soon as they took off their own shoes and wore mine, ill steal their shoes as fast as i can. Let me explain this real quick: i lived in a really toxic society. discrimination is common, abuse happens a lot in small towns, and people generally lacks sex ed and woke people all wish they have the ideas of feminism when they are in middle school instead of recieveing the idea right now when famous feminist literature about the filthiness of Man began to get introduced into bookstores, just so they can cope with the society in the most angry times of life... and guess what? i grow up in a large city and was born with all these stupid privileges and still think that i am unhappy and right now jarvis cocker need to appear and sing "common people" to me because i never encountered abuse. and i metaphorically died because of guilt. or i might lived on, having filled with guilt and having 0 guilt at the same friend because i am the most insensitive human in the world when it comes to gender issues but still breaks down when slurs gets targeted towards me by the person i consider as trustable. and like how every ideology agenda flew above my head the whole concept of a gender is also somewhere else although when i was small i desprately tried to be feminine from time to time. but when i labelled myself as nonbinary things began to get better, but it all happens after the hurt. so, how do you mend a broken heart? by escapism, by disassociation, by pretending that you are an adult and drink once a month, listening to cheesy lovesongs, calling yourself trash, and most importantly, to get away as far as possible from everything that results in that unmendable scar on your heart. and by seeing feminist art it is to tear my heart apart again like when the family members of a crime victim are needed to confront the criminal. so i confronted the one person that all the criminal learned their trades from. she don't look like a criminal. she is dressed in cloths that i feel cheesy and out of date, possibly something that dates back to the 80s. she behaves like a little child cause in her words, "little girls don't care about all the fucking sexism! isn't that good?" anyway girl, is that a swear word that you just said because you are a punk? i ask her, and who is that guy you name checked? is that the artist who shares a surname with my little sister? she hated surname jokes. she stepped on the painting to be stepped on and what? you played at that AFAB cis women only music festival? now i hate you more cause i said that my little sister is trans. because she is one of the finest woman i have seen in years. and i want to make sure that she never walk alone. i am going to eat you up no matter how many time you claimed that you support trans rights cause TERFs have continued to harm both trans woman and masculine cis woman. just ask them how many butchs have they seen in their lifetime! just because my sister have only began to take medications and still have a dick don't mean she isn't a girl. she is fighting against all doubts to become a woman and isn't that wonderful? isn't it the most beautiful representation of womenhood? come on! show me how you can bite those supposed stupid male human's dick off! show me how the dance punk music you made supposedly influence all those latecomers that i love and admire, especially mister James Murphy, everybody's favourite north american scum! show me how you can unite all the troublesome girls around the world into a life-changing force! no, you can't! am i right? AM I RIGHT? i can see her struggle and hear her say, "that is non of my business! the girls who harmed you are latecomers and... and..." "learned nothing from me!" i sighed and stopped the investigation. looks like trauma really does something significant. expressing anger is good. i am in awe of my stupid mind. 3/5 for the music, changed to 1/5 for the flood of trauma this album brings.

Le Tigre - Le Tigre You know those albums that you listen to and just sit there dumbfounded that it wasn't a massive hit? Le Tigre's self-titled debut is not one of those albums. This one hurt. A lot. I mean it literally felt like my ear canals got violated by hundreds of tiny knives. They felt raw and stuffed like when you go swimming, you know that stuffed up ears need to pop feel? Like that. If I was paranoid, I swear I would half believe that they recorded this album two/three years before I was born for the sole purpose of fucking with me. With anyone that has an aversion to the musical equivalent of utter shit. This band hates you. It's like they know that they are a bunch of talentless one trick ponies' and they want you to hurt for all the bad things that you will say/write about them, and this album is just them being proactive. Look at their photo on the album cover and tell me they didn't read 1001 bad reviews before this junk was unleashed like a virus on an unsuspecting world. They knew. I can't explain how, but they knew. This is payback. Tiger beats fish. Dead horse remains dead. Fuck Le Tigre.

Not a fan 2.1/10

Unnecessary

Not a very interesting album. Not sure what makes it an album I need to hear before I die.

Lame Tigre. Luckily the songs are short and so is the album. It got better as it progressed, but still was not good. Amateurish and unpolished. A lot of random thoughts thrown down. Will check a later album to see if they grew up into real cats. (1.3*s)

Random and strange. Repetitive. At times it sounds like the instrumentals are too loud and they are struggling to be heard over them. Some weird lyricism, some nonsensical. A lot of yelling out of tune, which is annoying.

Not for me

Why would anyone willingly submit themselves to this torture?

Where to begin on this one… This album is from the punk/riotgrrl group le Tigre from New York. First, it annoys me that Yr is used in song titles instead of Your. Next, there are too many sound effects and lyrics that seem to be random words or phrases. Amazing that there’s a record company out there that would publish this [collection]. Sounds like a group of middle school kids who own a keyboard and guitar.

if the youngest sibling was an album

I was hopeful after a strong(ish) opening, but this album already grated on me by the tired, repetitive roll call of "Hot Topic". Okay, you namedrop Yoko Ono and Gertrude Stein and Angela Davis. We get it. As for me, I don't have a take on Cassavetes, so I guess I'll just never get this band. Standout track: Deceptacon

i wanted to like this, but i did not. too screechy for me.

Not my genre

There’s a fine line between annoying and charming. I was barely able to finish it.

im skimming through the tracks because they sound awful, but i listened to several portions of most tracks i gave "raw power" by the stooges a 2/5 and i think this album is significantly worse than that, so ill have to give this one a 1/5 with that in mind

Blarg. I feel like it could’ve been decent, but wasn’t. The shriek-y vocals and often highly repetitive lyrics just killed it. And not in a good way. All in all, it just stinks.

A waste of vinyl

Just not my vibe, pretty hard to listen to, too electronic

Pile of crap

Didn’t know a thing when this came up. Eeerr, meh, whatever, didn’t engage at all. The write up says feminist which is good all strength to the message, but was just watching the clock on each track to end so didn’t hear anything they actually said. The odd decent musical motif, but then was repeated constantly so lost all essence. Like punk, like power pop, like 60s female vocal bands, didn’t like this. Not bothered to listen again, No thank you.

Could'n stand it till the end... Really annoying and just stupid yelling

Sorry, not my cup of tea.

Eww no

Thanks for nothing

I'll be honest, I couldn't finish it. Those vocals drove me mad.

Nope, just a bit too punky, art punk? Pop punks? whatever you call it for me. I find the voices a little too sulky teenage for me, probably just my age and maybe that’s the reaction they are looking for! Can see they’ll have a great cult following though & they’ve built on that style and genre.

I couldn't get through listening to this. I'm sure the political messages resonate with people, and that's great. But it was just not pleasant for me to listen to. I didn't like the vocals, I didn't like the music, I didn't like the drums. It sounded like something that a bunch of kids would put together from random instruments laying around the house.
