Reviews (page 6 of 14)
One of the best albums ever.
10/10
My favorite Beatles album changes all the time, but this one is probably the one that is in the top spot most frequently. Easy 5/5
Take away the historical context and groundbreaking production of the time, and you're still left with 14 incredibly diverse and well-crafted pop songs making up one of their best and consistently-great albums. Also, the 2022 mix I listened to sounded absolutely sublime compared to the old hard-panned stereo mix.
of course I love it
Great one
Brings back my teen years.
Cemented the Beatles turning the corner from pop to amazing music. No bad songs on the album. Standouts include Eleanor Rigby, Love You To, Yellow Submarine, She Said She Said, For No One, Got to Get You Into My Life, and Tomorrow Never Knows. I do recommend the mono version though. Stereo is interesting, but overall distracting.
Favorite Tracks: Here, There And Everywhere Taxman Eleanor Rigby
This is the best album of the Beatles. It shows that they could've been a prog rock band if they'd continued. I don't even mean Eleanor Rigby but all those other elements hidden in the songs. The culmination is Tommorrow Never Knows that is so innovative it still beats most songs of today easily.
If I can't give the Beatles 5 stars considering the rubbish I get more than half the time then who can I give them to? Those stars are well deserved, this is a great album! The Beatles are stretching out and serving up a nice variety of music styles and we get to see a bit more of George Harrison than usual. Good stuff from top to bottom.
Soo Much thing to Say about this album , what an incredible mono mix with cowbells on Taxman , loud and amazing album from the beginning to the END with Tomorrow Never knows.....
Is there anything else to be said about a Beatles album?
I mean, c'mon
What do you want me to say?
(1001: I had the White album recently so that was good to give some extra context for the Beatles) Revolver is commonly listed as the best Beatles album or close to it. Id have to agree it is really good. I may prefer the White album just because of the higher highs, but I do think there are worse songs on White so as an average per track I think Revolver is more consistently good. Great album to have for a day off. Favorite track "Eleanor Rigby" 5/5
Taxman, Im only sleeping og love you to gætu allt verið bestu lög allra tíma. Tomorrow Never Knows er hápunktur tónlistar. Yellow Submarine er alve contender í versta lag allra tíma samt 5/5
Bítlalegasta bítlaplatan in my opinion og auðvitað algjört meistaraverk. Svakalega góð lög, stuð og sorg. Kannski ekkert af þessum lögum komast á top 10 yfir bestu bítlalögin, en það skiptir engu máli. Flæðið er svo gott og ekkert lag lélegt. Mitt persónulega uppáhald er got to get you into my life sem er grjóthart en samt kósý.
Þvílíkt snilldarverk. Yndisleg lög í bland við tilraunamennsku sem nær hápunkti í Tomorrow never knows. Þvílíkt lag, sem gæti allt eins verði samið í dag. En klassísku bítlalögin standa svo sannarlega fyrir sínu líka. Eleanor Rigby, Here there and everywhere o.s.frv. For no one greip mig sérstaklega í þessari yfirferð, maður heyrir það ekki oft.
I think this may be the best beatles album.
My favorite beatles album
Really good overall, with a bunch of iconic tracks.I can only imagine how groundbreaking it was at the time. I think that I liked "I'm Only Sleeping" the best.
The 🐐
Classic. So many memorable tunes, amazing production and ahead of its time. What’s not to love?
Pretty much a Masterpiece, a complex Exploration of musical, styles, textures and techniques. Bravely expansive without being just a tribute to or slavish exercise in style.
Revolver is the "not-quite-Sgt-Peppers" album. The melodies on this record are off the charts perfect. The acid tracks that close out each side (She Said She Said and Tomorrow Never Knows) are among the best work The Beatles ever did.
Wowie wow wow
love, love.
This could be the most important record of all time. It revolutionised how artists use the the recording studio, how experimentation can be combined with pop music, influenced countless artists/genres, and setup the rest of the Beatles immensely groundbreaking catalogue from here on. Imagine hearing Tomorrow Never Knows in 1966. This record is so diverse, yet every track is perfect.
Classic. 5/5 Standouts: Eleanor Rigby, Tomorrow anever Knows, Here There and everywhere, Good day Sunshine, Got to Get You into my Life, Taxman, She said she said, For No One,
my precious
As Bob Dylan told the Fab Four, “I get it, you’re not cute anymore.”
Iconic. Not much else to say, other than extremely influential
Day82 - can’t say enough about the beatles and what they mean to me
Yes Yes Yes!!! The best group ever! This is a great album and although not my #1 favorite Beatle album it's still a definite 5! Pure greatness!
An absolute power-shot …..
It’s always a pleasant day when I’m generated a Beatles album to listen to. I’m not sure what else I can say as an introduction to this when I’ve already reviewed a bunch and said my preconceptions! The brief version is this: I used to find them over-rated. Now I’ve found that I love them. Lets listen! Songs I already knew: Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, Yellow Submarine Favourites: Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, Yellow Submarine, Here There and Everywhere It seems that whichever Beatles album is the latest one I’ve listened to becomes my favourite. I’m going to need to find some time at some point to listen to them all on rotation and find where my allegiances lie. This album is a fantastic example of making poppy rock music that remains very interestingly crafted. Today’s pop music generally tends to revolve around 4/4 time signatures of 6/8 if they’re feeling spicy, but the Beatles just went their own way and still made it sound wonderful.
Great Album
It'll be a heavily biased review today, as this is possibly my favorite (and almost certainly my most-listened) album. Generally speaking, what I love about it is that it goes in so many different directions and that every track brings something unique and exciting to the table. Even the duds, which I'd say are "Love You To" and "Yellow Submarine," are just too good to skip. This record has what may be my favorite song, "For No One" which features a brilliant, emotional French horn solo. Revolver is often said to mark a major step forward for the Beatles and, in turn, for the entire music industry, but even ignoring its impressive legacy, it's simply an incredible album.
Mein liebstes Album
Album # 44 How is it I know every song on this album? I guess because my Gen X musical life started out on the Beatles first note and guitar strum.
bets beagles album
It's the bloody Beatles
A masterpiece
👍
10/10 the Beatles are just the Beatles they're the goat
# 189 : Arguably their best album - Just before their most creative era, after they finished touring and they popped out Rubber Soul, and then finsished it up with this beauty. You put Rubber Soul & Revolver in a playlist and stick it on shuffle,.. POW! Mind blown! Favourite Track : Tomorrow Never Knows
There are some absolutely great songs on this Beatles album. The obvious huge hits everyone knows but also some lesser known gems like, Here, There and Everywhere. Outstanding.
Great album! Eleanor rigby, tax man, tomorrow never knows all standouts for me
This is my favorite Beatles album and probably a top 5 all timer. Where as my opinion on "Sgt Pepper has kind of waxed and waned, "Revolver" has always been, to me, the perfect blend of the Beatles experimentation and their exquisite pop song writing. Everybody brings their best. Paul's melodramatic vignettes of quiet desperation are among his best with "Elanor Rigby," and "For No One" ; George churns out a bop of a power popper with "Taxman," and even Ringo puts out his best child-at-heart moment with "Yellow Submarine." The standouts are still "Tomorrow Never Knows," "Here There and Everywhere," and "And Your Bird Can Sing." Each song a wonderful collaborative effort and perfectly balanced. In those three songs we see the best of their studio technique, technical brilliance, and songcraft. "And Your Bird Can Sing" has the scintillating solo; "Tomorrow Never Knows" with its haunting effects; and "Here There and Everywher," with its gentle harmonies and vulnerability.
Awesome!
i always like to point out my bias when giving my reviews and there is no other album where my bias shines than this one. i have been a beatles fan since birth (maybe even before birth) and this is maybe my favorite album of all time. this album represents a seismic shift in music, into the experimental, into the unknown. this is a collection of some of my favorite songs, from the trippy and rough around the edges 'i'm only sleeping' to the shining guitar lead on 'and your bird can sing' to the psychedelic freakout of 'tomorrow never knows' this album is just a 5 all the way through for me. yes, even yellow submarine. can't help it, i just adore this one!
classic
Excelente El mejor de los Fab 4
Top 3 Beatles albums for sure! Not a single bad song, every song does something different and experiments, enough said. 10/10!
Tomorrow never knows which masterpiece the 1001 Albums Generator app may or may not bring on the table. And today's it's *this* jewel. One gem among many in the band's discography (*A Hard Day's Night*, *Help!*, *Rubber Soul*, *Sgt. Pepper...*, the "White Album", *Abbey Road*...). The book this app is using as a basis should be called "The 995 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die, *Plus The Mandatory Six Beatles Albums Every Music Fan Worth Their Salt Has Already Listened To*". You just need to read the reviews in here. I mean, aaah, look at all the lonely people giving perfect 5/5 grades to this record, making them feel less lonely than Eleanor Rigby and Father McKenzie as a result. Listen to what "she" said or "he" said. I might be taxed for being a little too cute about it all, but this record is just insanely great, and this here, there and everywhere. Spinning it instantly brings a good day sunshine to your room. Your bird can sing whenever you listen to the whole thing, even if it's for no one. And if you don't know this album yet, I want to tell you this: you got to get it into your life. If only for closer Tomorrow Never Knows, a miniature psychedelic epic whose breadth and groundbreaking nature has rarely been matched since... 1966. Number of albums left to review: 257 Number of albums from the list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 326 (including this one) Albums from the list I *might* include in mine later on: 185 Albums from the list I won't include in mine (many other records are more important to me): 238
Classic music..fun and pure
One of the more quirky beatles albums with a few songs that hit home
Easily 5/5
A classic
The Beatles when they started to get experimental. How good
Beatles. Vinilo.
The very best
Masterpiece.
Best Beatles album
One of my favorite all time albums. This is such a creative album and the production is amazing!
A turning point entry in their catalogue. This was when they were moving away from pop. from here on it was all good.
A classic for a reason, as it turns out.
Beatles, perfection.
awesome
They got weird in all the right ways after shifting their focus from touring to the studio. They really went from a boy band to artists of the avant garde and crafted this experimentally wild soundscape.
LOVEE THE BEATLES, MY ANOTHER CHILDHOOD BAND. I've never listened to this album fully, and not know many of the songs either, so this'll be a fresh experience, can't waitt. First song, counting it started with. It's quite like them now. I like the loud guitar. They did the chorus quite early. Ooo I like that part, "car (Car)", it's catchy. It's kind of repetitive tho, I hope the whole album isn't like this, because I want more uniqueness from them. The break was fun, but short. Overall I like this powerful rock vibe, just next must be more. Second song, OOOOUU THIS IS THEE SONG RIGHT HERE. No one dare call this a tiktok song, it was perfect before it too. It's quite melancholic and the slight violin is great. Quite different from the last song. Third song, this is another level good. I like the lyrical delivery. The instrumental break, oh mistaken, there was not that, it was just a pause apparently. The Beatles weirdness came in, it sounded like a guitar which plays backwards. The background vocals are a nice touch I must say. I liked this more than the first one. The 4th song, I know this one, the first Asian like beat is very unexpected from them I think, so that hooked me once I suppose. Also songs are quite short. That beat is the main part here, and he's singing in the tone. The break was the extended version of the starting beat (idk the instrument pardonn). The outro is finally an outro, oh it's getting progressive, aand it faded away. The 5th song, different voice he has here, more soft and melancholic. I like this the best here. The way he says the lyrics attracts my ears. The guitar isn't really important, but there's this one note it's taking loudly, otherwise it's insignificant. The 6th song, OHH ANOTHER THE SONG, my childhood is upon me with this one I must say. It's very ear pleasing. Bird like sound I heard. That slight trumpet is so good and underused here. That talking of some captain always scratched my brain in a bad way. I LOVE THAT GUY WHO REPEATS AFTER THEM, HIS VOICE I LIKE MAYBE. The 7th song, chaotic guitar. There are short breaks after some lines. The singing is nice, though I'm not hooked, I'm too used to their voice not to like it. The vocals throughout the album weren't much, but the ones that were were quite remarkable. The 8th song, oh the guitar is guitaring here, ohh I thought this was gonna be sad, but it's not. Ooh it's funn, the way he sings. The piano is veeery addictive here. The title repeating is the worst part, other ones were much more catchy and interesting. The 9th song, upbeat start, "you don't get me" the second he said sounded better like lyrically, because he did emphasis on "me", I think. Outro is different with that weird instrument, otherwise the song was fine, It's definitely a grower. The 10th song, veeery short this one. The break is melancholic in a way. It's sad overall too, though there's this upbeat guitar. It should have been longer, I can't enjoy short songs, because I can't get to know them well. The 11th song, It is very Beatles like this one. The guitar is the best part here, it drops the beat(dunno other way to say that) just before he says "doctor Robert" and it's too good. I usually talk a lot, but the shortness of the song limits me. The 12th song, the piano guitar fusion is quite interesting here. I'm not impressed tbh, this should be either longer or catchier, because the only thing I like here is their voice and the instruments, I dunno what else there should be, but it ain't for me for now. The 13th song, rumba vibes at start, now this is fun and fascinating. The trombone thingy is veery good here. It's upbeat, but much better than that tbh. The break was the same instrumentals just without the lyrics. I like his screaming here, not a metal scream though. The outro gets funkier and fades away. The 14th song, the start hooked me, and it's going well now. 3 minutes this one is, the longest I think, mistaken 3rd and 4th songs are 3 minutes too. Well outro is something, repeating, which was enjoyable this time. Only the start was spectacular here tbh. Well, despite my criticism I was gonna give this 4 stars, but since it's The Beatles, one of my favourite groups, I give it 5, I know one day I'll love this song, so I'm getting ahead of myself, it's definitely a grower and soon enough, as with other albums here, I will come and check it again.
I didn't want to give it 5 stars just because it's a Beatles album, but the songs won me over. There wasn't a miss.on the album.
Love this - didn't realize eleanor rigby and yellow submarine were on this albume in particular
Fabulous start to finish. Tomorrow Never Knows is my favorite Indian inspired track off any Beatles album. HOF tracks throughout.
Beatles!!
There is no way I can be unbiased on this one. Such a gem! The Beatles discovered drugs from their friend Dr. Robert and went to places we never imagined before. Leaving us in their trippy wake of Tomorrow Never Knows.
A classic
This might be my favorite Beatles record. So many classic tracks on it, and it marks the big change in the Beatles' career. Everyone wants to point to Sgt. Pepper's for that, but it was really Revolver.
Classic!!
Fourteen songs in 35 minutes, and each one is a banger. There's so much to love about this album: the guitar tone, the clever wordplay on "Here, There and Everywhere," the revelation that "She Said She Said" is about John trying acid while "Got To Get You Into My Life" is about Paul trying weed. "Eleanor Rigby" stands out as one of the greatest songs ever written. This album holds a special place in my heart; it was one of the first vinyl records I ever owned, "borrowed" from an ex-girlfriend's dad. I could easily continue singing its praises. While I'm probably going to give every Beatles album on this list a 5-star rating, this one, in particular, holds a spot among my favorites.
Obvious rating is obvious
Solidly enjoyable album
Taxman is one of the funniest songs of all time. A filthy rich financial imbecile crying about having to pay for the streets on which he is driving, all to reach a target audience of youths. I’m glad there weren’t podcasts for them to guest at the time. 4.6
I'd almost give this album 5 stars just based off of the song "Here There and Everywhere." What an absolutely lovely song. Keep giving me Beatles albums and I'll keep giving them 5 stars.
Perfect.
5 stars. Without even analysing it, its just bonus, you alreadfy know its a perfect note. Its the first really 100% experimental album by the Beatles followeing some experimentations in their previous album the perfect Rubber Soul. This album is simply a masterpiece from all points, the iconic cover, the studio experimentations, the global creativity, the lyrical themes, the song in themself just everything. Two big factors that play a key role in this album are a drug name LSD and a band call the Beachs Boys. The first one is a psycedelic drug that the Beatles were experimenting a that time, especially John Lennon, the drug help them expending their mind and made their creativity limiteless. The others is a american band that were in a sort off rivalry with the Beatles in the experimentation side, their leader, the genius Brian Wilson, create another timeless masterpiece with Pets sounds that came out a few month earlier while they were reccording the album. They also take inspiration from the avant-garde and underground artistic scene in London and the earliest form of the psecedelic rock form in the United-States, but also from George Harisson ever growing facsination for Indian and Oriental music. ALL and i mean ALL the band was a their creative peak (with SGT peppers the next year) from the producer George Martin, to the engering Geoff Emmrick and off course Ringo Starr. That what make this album so special, it feel like a whole, not jst a compilation of songs like most of their previous albums (execpt Rubber Soul). We have for the first times the 3 songs writter of the Beatles working alone or toghether to write some of ther best songs in their discography. George have for the first time the honnor to be have the opennign track with Taxman wich talk about the taxes, politics and George's new regard on money. On this one Paul plays the solo and Ringo really take drumming to another level. With he's new friend Ravi Shankaar, learn to play Sitar an tradditional Indian instrument and create a song call Love To you, wich is probably the first indian song plays by mainstream western artists wich is a big deal. George 3rd contribution is i want to tell you wich is pretty good, still showing his songwritting skills have improve, but not the best in the album. On this album Paul really take the writting level to the roof, his contribution really make him the offical romantic, harmonical and most beautifull song-writters of the band. Eleanor Ridgy wich is probably one of the best song ever, talk about loneliness and is a more sad song that the usual Beatles standard. Here, There and Everywhere is the definition of what a love song should be, it was inspired by the Beachs Boys God only knows epecially the vocals harmonical part wich is God-Givenly beautifull. Paul Others contribution include: For no one, Got to get you into my life, and good day sunshine. Ringo was not a song writter but the could sing and prouve it to us with is most iconic song and one the the most iconic Beatles song: Yellow Submarine. Wich is a song that appeal me very much when i was a kid and i discover the Beatles, very strong memory for me and just prouve the Beatles could do anything even children songs and still being the best. John stand out for the lyrical themes he used, while the Beatles only wrote about girls and love before, John break that rule with Nowhere man on Rubber Soul and break it ever more here with song about his experimentatyion with drugs, lazyness, a speciasl doctor. And for the majority of those song they are the most experimental of the album and in the Beatles carreer, song like I'm only Sleeping, She Said She Said and of course one of the best psycedelic song of all times Tomorow Never Knows. In I'm only sleeping John really get us to his head in a time he was feeling alone and sad and everybody make fun of him, Doctor Robert is a bit of humoristic song about a Doctor who was giving drugs to his clients, proably a reference to the fact that their dentist make them try LSD in 1965 by putting in in their cofee (take a drink from his special cup). She Said She said talk about another LSD trip in California with Peter and Jane Fonda and members of The Byrds (who were also pretty influencial in the Beatles music and vis versa). Finanly Tomoroww Never Knows wich is the first time an artist undersdtand they could use the studio itself as a music intrument with reverse solos, opressive sounds and distorted voices. Lyricaly the song is incredible, John talka bout his experiences with LSD (again yes) and is inspired by Timothy Leary writting (a psycologue who push for psycedelic drugs and was a symbol of counter culture). The others song are not bad simply not as great in my opnnion but they are still important in the album, because this is a whole thing, a single psycedelic piece of art. Ringo din't have as much credit as the other but he manage to follow the experimental train with ease and his fantastic drumming that keep all the songs in place. It's very hard for any died-hard Beatles fan to just pick one album and said, this the best they ever made, but this one is definitly a contender. But not only for the title of best Beatles album, for the title of best album ever made, along with Pets Sounds. This album is the beggening of couter-culture taking over the music world an setting the stage for the summer of love (1967) and more musicaly paving the way for a whole new generation of artists, new sounds and experimentations.
"The One Where The Beatles Discover Drugs" One of their best albums. Easy five stars.
Woah the Beatles right after the Stone‘s Aftermath! Both 5 stars, but I have to say, this one is more like a 6 or 7 out of 5 😌
Classic
Those Beatles fellas know how to write a song, eh? Fucking brilliant. I know The Beatles and The Beach Boys had a friendly rivalry during this time. I'm probably wrong, but "Here, There, and Everywhere" sounds like they're trying to write a Beach Boys song just to prove they can. If so, I think they've succeeded. Plus, the Chemical Brothers' "Let Forever Be" sounds like a ripoff of "Tomorrow Never Knows". I'd never properly heard this song before, and that Chemical Brothers tune is all I could think about. It's crazy that Revolver is 58 years old and this record sounds as good as anything that's been released since. Heaping praise on The Beatles is par for the course at this point, but these guys were master craftsman. 👍👍✌️❤️
One of the best by one of the best
Einer der großartigen Klassiker der Beatles.
It's hard to believe this album was released in 1966. It represents a big. turning point for the Beatles as they moved from bubble gum pop-rockers to musicians with some artistic leeway that they expertly use to their advantage. You've go the hits - Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, Yellow Submarine, Good Day Sunshine, and Got to Get You Into My Life - but the track that really stuck with me is Doctor Robert. It strikes that perfect balance of oddball imagery with catchy music that make so many Beatles tracks earworms.
Such an amazing collection of songs. Even the 'bad' songs on this album are better than most bands' best songs.
This is always at or near the top of any top albums ever lists for a reason. Great songs, great production, new techniques and sounds, but still them. Thanks LSD!
The Beatles forever.
Not as good as abbey road but decent
Hooks. Lyrics and music solid. Historically weathered ongoing changes in musical styles and improvements in electronics. Sounds great. Solid. Memorable. Catchy.
Not a skip in sight. Such a classic. The Beatles have the magic formula for excellent music-making. 5/5 ⭐️
Not one skip. Flawless.
Clearly the LSD had an impact on the boys…! Brilliant, immensely enjoyable, and much of the album still sounds fresh today. A++
5/5
Good album. If you don't like the Beatles, grow up. You can't have chicken tenders with every meal.
Pretty much the apex of the album-as-artefact era. 14 songs, 34 minutes; inventiveness, pathos, silliness, experimentation, charm. Not even my favourite Beatles record but by gum, we'll never see their like again. Retains drops of twee naivety but mixed with the start of psychedelic rock. The full gamut.
Love it
Growing up, I listened primarily to pre-Rubber Soul Beatles on the local Oldies station. Until I discovered a copy of Sgt Peppers. From that point on, I began to listen to the three album run beginning with Revolver and ending with the White Album. I've easily listened to this album 100 times and even now I find new aspects of the album to enjoy. This album covers a wonderful spectrum of what the Beatles did and could do.
This is the big bang of Brit-pop going psychedelics. One Rubber Soul and Revolver, the Beatles tuned in, turned on, and dropped out. You can hear it all on this album, the whole evolution is there. Instruments, lyrics and studio production. Always great headphone fodder. Just have to figure out if you want British or American.
Classic. Currently my favorite Beatles album, but I do believe that can change. Here, There, and Everywhere might be my favorite all time Beatles song. There are so many classics here. The heartbreakingly sad Eleanor Rigby, the psychedelic Harrison tracks like Tomorrow Never Knows, and McCartney at his most McCartney on Got to Get You Into My Life. It’s their best front to back.
Really good album. No need to nitpick on what should or shouldn't be on this album. At 34 minutes, it's infinitely listentoable.
Automatic 5. Revolver and Rubber Soul are my favorite Beatles albums. There is still pop in there, but so more exploratory and interesting. Amazing how many hits on a single release.
Masterpiece!
Magic
An appreciation of what the Beatles were creating was wasted on me when their music was popular. I was a young teen in the 70s with an upbringing of bandstand, crooners, country western with a splash of Everly Brothers, Elvis and the like. In listening today, I heard lyrics that now have meaning and evoke emotions for me. I also now fully appreciate the ingenuity and diversity of the arrangements created. Just because it was a studio-only album did not mean they had to stray far from what already “worked” for them in the past. Thank goodness that was never their mindset.
An undoubted masterpiece, Revolver is constantly vying for first position as my favourite and best Beatles album along with Abbey Road and the White Album. Songs such as Eleanor Rigby, I’m Only Sleeping, Here, There and Everywhere, She Said She Said and For No One are exquisite examples of descriptive songwriting but it is the closing track Tomorrow Never Knows where the Beatles create new territories and arguably produce the first dance song in popular music.
It really does seem daft to make notes on a Beatles album. It's awesome. You know that. But genuinely awesome. Like, how did they keep doing it? A mediocre Beatles track would be nearly every other bands lifetime meal ticket. Even the sitar tracks.
Not my favorite Beatles album, but still great - after all, it's the Beatles! They were experimenting more (pre- Sergeant Pepper) and lots of the innovations now seem "normal" (or even old fashioned) to us more than 50 years later.
Many people's favorite of the fab four. While not mine, it's a home run all the same.
The pantheon of Beatles albums is truly remarkable, but I think out of all of them this is my favorite. The standout is Eleanor Rigby with its audacious octet arrangement (and the Beatles first recorded song without guitar) but here there and everywhere and For No One are stunning ballads. They may get lost in the Beatles catalog but for any other songwriter they would be a crowning achievement. The uptempo are great too: Taxman, And Your Bird Can Sing, Good Day Sunshine. Oh and by the way they were also revolutionizing how the recording studio could function. Great album!
Great album.
I've come around belatedly. Now I agree that this is the Beatles' best. Peak McCartney and the emergence of George as an important songwriter. Only two Lennon tracks on the US version, which I had when it was new. (George had more!) But those two tracks dominated at the time. 50+ years later, it's clear that the full album, with the three Lennon tracks restored, is a very well-balanced effort by the entire band. But from this perspective, it's Paul who dominates. The range and variety of his tracks are stunning.
9/10
Song: Eleanor Rigby I have heard this song before, but I listened to it again for this project because it's just really good. There's something beautiful and haunting about this song, with the harmonies and the excellent lyrics. The highlight for me is the instrumentation, though—the different stringed instruments overlapping and harmonizing make it sound so epic. This song is one of the all-time best, honestly, and probably my favorite Beatles song. Just beautiful.
Love this album, a true classic!
Banging album
Always an album I loved, but in past years has really shot up the ranks of my favorite Beatles albums. Songs like "Here, There and Everywhere" and "For No One" are among the most beautiful songs ever written, and songs like "She Said, She Said" and "Tomorrow Never Knows" among the most psychedelic and just plain cool. This is the album where the Beatles transition from early-stage to their final form, and man, is it glorious.
My personal favourite Beatles album. This is the real turning point between their boy band roots and further experimentation, which I see as a best of both worlds. Unbelievable how many classics they fit onto this one! Right when you’re done with one it’s on to the next. Makes up for many of the songs being too short, I want more! The only other criticism I have is that so many of the songs end with a fade-out. I’d loved for there to have been more resolution to some of the songs. And it’s much easier to list the few flaws than the innumerable strengths! This listen around, the fantastic rhythm section stood out. Paul’s busy basslines and Ringo’s understated drumming is such a powerful combo. I never tire of this album
My parents had this on vinyl. It ended up at the tip, which is a bit gutting as it's another brilliant Beatles album and perhaps my favourite I've listened to for this project so far. Stylistically varied, but the perfect balance of pop and experimentation with no weak tracks and brilliantly sequenced to flow as a single piece. It's like the White Album without weak tracks, Abbey Road if it were sequenced as a single record rather than two competing halves, and a more instant Sargent Pepper. Rating: 5/5 Playlist track: Eleanor Rigby Date listened: 16/01/24
I was surprised how much I enjoyed all of the other songs on the album. That were not on the Blue Album of the Beatles. I enjoy a deeper dive into the Beatles archive and understand why this one is so popular. I could listen through this album again and enjoy it just as much.
Just a classic album. This set the scene for not only a significant change to the Beatles music, but more importantly how music is made more generally.
One of my favorite Beatles albums. I have listened to it hundreds of times and recently bought the remastered version
Some of my favorite classic Beatles on this album! Love it!
Fantastic album, not quite their best IMO, but close. Elanor Rigby still gives me chills every time I listen to it. Love Me To and Good Day Sunshine are a bit weak, and Yellow Submarine is obviously very silly. But other than those, it's very very good. Tomorrow Never Knows was decades ahead of its time, as the Chemical Brothers showed.
Great album! Eleanor Rigby is on my top 10 songs ever written Good day sunshine and got to get you into my life are also unbelievably amazing.
Amazing!
First Beatles album that made me realise they weren't just a collection of sporadic decent songs. All Beatles albums suffer from filler that only makes sense the deeper you dive into it, but apart from one or two Revolver contains so many hidden bangers that don't take a lot to uncover. Taxman, Tomorrow Never Knows, Doctor Robert, Love to you, Got to get you in to my life. So many songs that would mean nothing to many people who claim to even like the Beatles. Here there and everywhere probably the only weak track on the album. Just incredibly dull. Also have a dislike for Yellow Submarine, but probably due to over listening as a kid. Feels out of place on an otherwise mature album. Apart from that, an easy 5*. Though I reckon it might be 2-3* if I wasn't already a big fan, which makes this entire exercise conflicting in some way.
Great. Love the exploration between psychedelics and pop. One of my favorite albums from them.
My favourite Beatles album. Good memories of hearing this for the first time. Reason why I have a massive framed poster
So influential, and songs like ‘Eleanor Rigby’, ‘Tomorrow Never Knows’, and ‘Taxman’ are all excellent. Ok that’s all I have Beatles are hard to talk about.
LOVE the Beatles
Sensational! The best album by The Beatles, and that is saying a lot!
Great album. Inspired with amazing production.
5 estrellas simplemente los Beatles. Un disco que se disfruta de principio a fin con algún que otro altibajo pero monumental en el trabajo musical, se me pasó volando la verdad. Eleanor Rigby y Got to get You into My life las mejores del disco.
Solid
Do the Beatles get fives by default? Taxman is probably the most annoying song on the album, as it's just a prolonged rich boy whinge from Georgie but what an excellent whinge. The energy maintains throughout although plateaus exquisitely for I'm only Sleeping, an anthem for those, like me, with a dozey disposition. Anything other than a five is rank contrarianism isn't it
In my opinion this is one of their best albums will amazing songs and innovations to their music, But to me, it's just great listening.
Gets a 5 just for Here There and Everywhere but this is full of top tier tracks, the only one that kinda sticks out as not belonging is Doctor Robert but even that is OK. Album art kinda makes me feel uncomfortable lol.
Don Draper was right, this shit sucks ass. No, I'm kidding, it's Revolver, it rules. What am I gonna do, not give it five stars? I'm Only Sleeping has always been one of favorites, an anthem for sleepy little guys like myself.
4.5
Weird as shit and I love it. So many greats here. Every time I listen to it I love it a little bit more. This is the Abbey Road of th early years, taking everything they knew from the first half of their career and just saying "hey look what we can do". Genuinely not a bad song on the tracklist, but I'm Only Sleeping is a Chef's Kiss/10 and my favorite one here.
great album where you can hear the transition from the older sound to a newer more experimental and rock sound emerging.
Aside from the over use of the channel fader? This album is near perfect
A fantastic album and possibly my favourite Beatles record. This is the album that helped me fall in love with music. Fifteen tracks in just over forty minutes and not a second is wasted. It is packed with invention, melody and confidence. Every song feels like it could be a single and the energy never fades. The bassline on Taxman is iconic. It completely drives the song and you can hear its influence years later in Start by The Jam. Two brilliant tracks connected across decades. That kind of legacy says everything about how groundbreaking this record was. Eleanor Rigby is haunting and cinematic. Got to Get You into My Life is pure energy and soul. The variety across the album is staggering, yet it still feels cohesive. It is creative, bold and endlessly replayable. Favourite songs: Eleanor Rigby and Got to Get You into My Life Least favourite: Doctor Robert. It never quite clicks with me. Album artwork: A very cool and striking cover that perfectly captures the spirit of the era
Great
This album has some of my favourite Beatles tracks on it, and very little worthy of critique. I am not the worlds biggest Beatles fan, but that doesn´t mean this is not a brilliant album. Rather, this album makes me a bigger Beatles fan every time I hear it.
amazing, perfect
i really really like this album especially she said he said and and your bird can sing and im only sleeping and yellow submarine is just darling and got to get you into my life is just joyous and i think tomorrow never knows is really one of the best things the beatles ever did
From a first time listen, I found this album very pleasing and holds some really good songs I've never heard which are interesting and has some intricate and biting guitar work. Just solid ambitious music, particularly for the time but still sounds very fresh, and excellent power pop. I'll never be a big fan of Yellow Submarine but it's not awful and it makes some sense in the context of the album. I can imagine this is what the White Album would have sounded more like if the band members had been able to work better together and had been in better mental shape at that point.
This was my first listen to the full album and have a greater appreciation of the entire package. Revolver is just revolutionary. This is the Beatles firing on all cylinders. Refining the studio techniques they started during the previous album, they got bolder with experimentation and produced such a diverse album. From George's Love You To to John's Tomorrow Never Knows and Paul's Got To Get You Into My Life and of course Eleanor Rigby and everyone on Yellow Submarine, it raised the bar for everyone and influenced all kinds of music for generations to come. There's not a dud in the whole lot. Here, There, and Everywhere and Doctor Robert are the standouts of the songs I wasn't already familiar with.
Beatles rated 3
The masters of making hit after hit and being able to adapt to the times and change up their style and keeping it fresh.
All time classic, luv it
This seems a really important album staring to move into more creative and innovative music at the height of their power.
Maybe the best Beatles? Every song is amazing. I love this record. I’d write more but this is a very hectic time for me. On a shitty day in a shitty week in a shitty time of year, relistening to this in full was a true bright spot.
I love this album. This might be my favorite beatles album.
Just solid. Not a bad track on this album
A psychedelic Beatles (near) masterpiece
Paul McCartney’s voice is angelic. For No One and Eleanor Rigby are two of the best songs ever written. The Beatles have to potential to really make waves I think if they keep putting out stuff like this
So many of my favourites listed on 1 album. 5 stars, easy
I love how by 1966, they were adding in Indian influence, as else as experimenting with the psychedelic sound. Taxman really sets the tone for the album and then launches you right into Eleanor Rigby. Psych rock + sweet ballads + short punchy rock songs. Its so so good and so unique. Especially considering when it was made. A few more notable songs that stand out to me: - Love You To. Fun trippy, rad. - Here, There, and Everywhere. Sweet, sentimental. I love it. - Yellow Submarine. Still to this day, I don't care for this song. It obviously catchy but I don't know WTF is going on. - She said, She said. One of my fav Beatles songs. I love how it builds and flows. - For No One. Always almost makes me cry. Genius song. - Tomorrow Never Knows. Simply amazing.
It's the Beatles... nothing bad to say. My dad loved this album so I've listened to it on everything fun vinyl to 8 track to cd and now streaming. Great album.
Not my favorite Beatles album but still brilliant
probably the best beatles album. would be perfect if it didn't have yellow submarine though: 9.4/10
Love love love.
Some real bangers, Yellow Submarine is dumb tho
My Favourite Beatles album with my favourite track by them - For No One, with the wonderful French Horn that has no reason to be there but is just beautiful!
The Beatles are underrated
One of their best and one my faves
classic songs in there but album as a whole was class
easy
Always go back to my favorite Beatles album
I mean, it's the Beatles. Weird but relatable. Melodic but off-kilter and intriguing. It's great.
Classic. Not my favorite Beatles album. That's Rubber Soul. A classic nonetheless.
This may be the most interesting Beatles album
My favorite Beatles album.
An enduring classic!
It's a great album, like every Beatles album, but I rarely find myself returning to Revolver besides a few songs. Dunno why, just doesn't click with me as much. Nonetheless I still know every single song.
Ace! I'd forgotten that this Beatles gem hadn't appeared on the list yet - and with only 15 albums left I'll take all the good surprises the 1001 list can throw my way (...roll on Appetite For Destruction and Kick!). So, Revolver: classic mid-period Beatles with great songs and lots of fun and interesting studio experimenting. Even the Indian-themed songs are not too grating. Obviously Tomorrow Never Knows is outstanding, thank you Ringo. Got To Get You Into My Life is another highlight. I was thinking that Yellow Submarine was going to be childishly tedious, but I couldn't help but sing along with the infectious chorus. I could wax lyrical about so many songs. There is a chance that because Sergeant Pepper is overplayed and over-celebrated Revolver is a tiny bit less familiar (as if any Beatles album really can be!). I prefer it. I'll pull Hard Day's Night, Revolver and Abbey Road as my three era-covering quintessential Beatles LP's amongst an 8 year incredible period.
Для меня альбом делится на "Элеанор Ригби" и всё остальное. За первую хочется поставить 6 из 5, нежно люблю ее со времен фигурного катания. И до сих пор многослойность завораживает. А всё остальное крепкая 4.
It's fucking Revolver!
10/10 BANGERZ
Love this album. From start to finish - what a great album!
One of the best Beatles albums.
One of the greatest albums of all time. Imagine being in 1966 listening to all the other stuff coming out in the mid-60s and then you're hit with this. Track after track of great sound, many tracks that just had no comparable songs at the time. Highlights: -George Harrison's first song that rivals Lennon/McCartney quality in Taxman. -Paul's guitar solo on Taxman. -The feel of I'm Only Sleeping and its reversed and patched together guitar solo sweeping across your ears. -The harmonies on Here There and Everywhere. -The drumming on She Said She Said. -The dual guitar melody on And Your Bird Can Sing. -The everything on For No One (my top Beatles track). -Just when you're winding down listening to this album Tomorrow Never Knows smacks you in the face and still has no songs that really remind me of it. Amazing stuff.
The ultimate Beatles album, showcasing their evolution from pop stars to rock legends!
Perfect album.
incredible. such a chaotic tracklisting that males absolutely no sense yet it all works. the arrangements and production techniques are so cutting edge for this time. not a bad song on here. a perfect album in every way.
Pretty fantastic.
Revolver was one of my first album encounters when it comes to the Beatles. It remains among my favorites.
Up there in the Top 2 Beatles albums for me. Tomorrow Never Knows was very formative
one of the greatest albums ever made. ever. makes me regret giving any other album five stars, but also not fair to compare other albums to this bc it's soo fucking good.
As expected this is a 5. Creative, every song sounds different. Vocal harmonies and instrumentals are great.
Not even my favorite Beatles album, but pretty much every song here is really great, very memorable and fun to listen to. I still dont care for yellow submarine on its own, but in the album context it honestly kinda works.
One of their best. Great song variety. Ic any say anything here that hasn’t already been said.
What can I say that hasn't already been said- lots of hits and even the other tracks are well known. Not my favourite album of theirs (that's Abbey Road) but I still like it. It's the Beatles starting to get their stuff together. They were so incredibly successful and even now are lauded as the greatest but a lot of people are sick of hearing it. Maybe we overplay them a tad? Still gets 5/5 stars from me though.
Excellent album, great variety, incredibly catchy parts
That’s a masterpiece. And the 2022 Remix is bliss. 5 stars
Might be the best beastles album, the consistent greatness throughout the album is unbelievable
Potentially my favourite Beatles album. Love the old production with strange panning and all the different sounds they make across the one album.
A classic.
Classic album where every song is a great listen
The Beatles' history can be classified into three stages - The initial pop stage, the power pop stage, and the psychedelic pop stage. Revolver not only epitomizes the middle stage, but it is also one of the best representations of the entire power pop genre. It is packed with instant classics such as Taxman, Elenor Rigby, Here, There, and Everywhere, and She Said She Said. The latter presaged the White Album with its complex sitar string arrangements. In addition to all of that musical goodness, there is also the silly but fun Yellow Submarine (showing that the Beatles didn't always take themselves too seriously) and the archetypal power pop song And Your Bird Can Sing. Revolver, along with Rubber Soul, became the template for later power pop bands such as Big Star, the Raspberries, The Cars, the Bangles, and The Romantics of the 1960s through the 1990s. No matter what you think of the early "I live you yeah yeah yeah" era Beatles, or their final incarnation as a psychedelia band, Revolver is one of the greatest albums of all time.
Anything by The Beatles is an instant 5/5 for me, but especially Revolver. It’s all over the place with different styles but it works. If you rate this anything other than 5, you’re wrong.
Excellent album and it's easy to pick up on the Indian (George Harrison/Ravi Shankar?) influences on the sound. Really good...
You don’t even have to rank it based on it being almost 60 years old, it still sounds perfect. All pop and rock music owes a debt to this album.
What is there to say? Probably their best album, so good that it contains their worst song by far (yes, worse even than the throwaway stuff on the White Album and Let It Be) yet still is unimpeachably excellent and ground-breaking. Sensational
Oh The Beatles. It's cliche, but what can I really say about them that hasn't been said before? In the grand scheme of the last 50 years, my opinion matters very little. And yet, I liked to tell people I didn't like The Beatles. Even though I had never given them a chance. Don't know why. I think I just liked saying it. But what I'm going to say in this review is obvious. Yes, Revolver is good. Amazing in fact. I do actually like The Beatles. Rubber Soul marked a turning point for the band. But Revolver is truly when the Fab Four went from a huge band to something special. They continued to push their sound forward here, moving into more sophisticated territory. Songs like Eleanor Rigby, Love You To, and Tomorrow Never Knows show a clear evolution of their music. The amount of time that passed between their debut and this was only 3 years. It's remarkable how quickly they moved and became excellent songwriters. It is also remarkable just how in sync and harmonious these four were with each other. Around here, I won't tolerate any Ringo hate. Put him in any other band and he would probably fall flat. But for this group, he was undeniably a perfect fit. I don't know how good Revolver is as an introduction to the band, but it definitely makes me feel more confident knowing that I can actually enjoy their music and not try and pretend like it sucks. Rating: 9/10
Supi
Probably my least favorite Beatles album, but that’s not saying much since I’m still giving it a 5.
Obviously a classic. I love Lennon but think this is McCartney's time to shine. Eleanor rigby just genius. Got to get you into my life and good day sunshine are like Motown crossed with British rock. Lennon has some solid tunes like and your bird can sing and the pretty amazing tomorrow never knows
Amazing
Still great.
What a fucking fuck?
Great
It’s the Beatles… and Eleanor Rigby- come on
This might be my favorite album of all time. Everything on it is so good and the variety? The experimentation? Unmatched. TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS???? FOR NO ONE?? Yes
Very cool
One of the greatest albums of all time. Perfect blend of the beautiful simplicity of the early Beatles and the creativity of the later years
Would give a 6/5 if I could
I must admit I was like oh Beatles wil there goes my Spotify recommendations but this album is pretty darn good. Taxman is a good laugh, Eleanor Rigby is such a wonderful song, Yellow Submarine is a joy, and Tomorrow Never Knows is a great song I wasn't previously familiar with.
Hmmm, I might like this more than "Abbey Road" on balance - seems like the weaker tracks here aren't as weak as they are there. No hesitation about giving this one a five! Fave tracks - "Eleanor Rigby" is probably my favorite Beatles track ever. "Tomorrow Never Knows" is an absolute belter too!
Living in a yellow submarine is a great concept but it's just not realistic
This album kicked off in my opinion the best era of the Beatles. Incredible
4.5
Classic. Yellow Submarine sucks but it can't have a 4. 4.75.
Yeah this is just as good as the hype. First 5* album from me
Duh
Always good
Great Beatles album. Exactly what you’d expect if you know their music. Love you Too and Tomorrow Never Knows weren’t as good as the rest
Not much to say on this one, the Beatles are legendary and pop icons. This album defined a generation of music.
It’s the Beatles. Enough said. Love the experimentation and genre blending throughout the album.
one of my favorite albums ever, the riffs are brilliant, the harmonies in songs like Eleanor Rigby are masterful.
Great album, not my first listen. Includes a few of the Beatles iconic hits
This is a great Beatles album, so many good songs on here. Only in comparison to some of their other albums I might have given this one a 4.5/5 (if I could) just because at times it can feel more like a collection of disparate songs than a thought out set of songs for a specific album but they were churning out albums so quickly and again, this is still filled with such strong songs. So, I've got to round up to a 5/5. Standout Tracks: Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, I'm Only Sleeping, Love You To, She Said She Said, Good Day Sunshine, And Your Bird Can Sing, For No One, I Want to Tell You, Got to Get You into My Life, Tomorrow Never Knows
I mean it's a 5. Top 3 Beatles albums. More psychedelic than I remember. Standout tracks:elanor Rigby, here there and everywhere, yellow submarine
Curto muito
lol @ people rating this less than 5*
An obvious 5
A total classic. SUCH great tracks on here, hard to leave notes.
The PIONEERS of psychedelic rock, such a cool sound. I love the difference between the Beatles pre and post LSD. They went from pop heartthrob boy band to playing experimental psychedelic sitar music in like 2 years. Imagine the Beatles fans in 1966 expecting Drive My Car or Paperback Writer and you listen to Tomorrow Never Knows.
Rubber Soul may have been when the Beatles came into their own from a songwriting perspective, but 1966’s Revolver proved 1965 wasn’t a fluke. Revolver is one of the best albums by the Beatles, and might be one of the best albums of all time by anyone. Fit squarely between their touring days of the early to mid-sixties and their purely recording days of the late sixties, Revolver was their most complete album yet. George and even Ringo shine on vocals, Paul starts dabbling in psychedelics, and the group draws from Indian influences that becomes one of their hallmarks in 1967 and 1968. The record features major hits like “Eleanor Rigby” and “Yellow Submarine,” but it really sets itself apart with its deeper cuts like “And Your Bird Can Sing” and “I’m Only Sleeping.” They lightly address the day’s political landscape in “Taxman” while making room for ballads both heartfelt (“Here, There, and Everywhere”) and crushing (“For No One”). The closing “Tomorrow Never Knows” offers a glimpse at the next year’s offerings in Sgt Pepper’s and Magical Mystery Tour. The summer of 1967 may have been the Summer of Love, and the Beatles were either a step ahead of everyone else or they single-handedly created the psychedelic rock genre that came to dominate the late sixties. The Beatles’ brief career is typically divided into the early years from 1963 to 1965 and the later years from 1967 to 1969. Revolver straddles both eras, and while under 35 minutes, it is one of the most complete rock albums ever conceived. It’s one of my personal favorites, and it always will be.
Love so much of the Beatles' music, and this album is one of my favorites of theirs. Just so many iconic and memorable songs, even though I've heard them so very often. For example, I still never tire of "Eleanor Rigby" after all these decades of hearing it countless times. You get it. I love them, and I love this album. Full stop.
Classic
4.5/5 - deducted half a start for yellow submarine. every other song is flawless though. One of my favorite Beatles albums.
The only argument is whether or not it's the Fabs best album. I'm a Rubber Soul fan myself, and at gun point I have this behind The White Album, Abbey Road and Rubber Soul. I'd also find a place for this on my list of top ten all time favorite albums. My re-listen here was the 2002 Deluxe Remaster (I didn't listen to the uncooked, alternate takes they loaded on the set, I'm not a monster). And holy shit do songs like Got To Get You Into My Life, Tomorrow Never Knows, even Taxman and Yellow Submarine pop. Sometimes the Fabs lose me when George insists on bringing out the sitar, and I can't help but think including the B-Side "Rain" on this instead of "Love You To" would push this thing among my all time top 5 favorite albums. I get it: Band politics. But "Rain" is one of the best Beatles tracks ever. The fact they have so many classic albums with classic songs recorded during the sessions that didn't even make their corresponding albums speaks to the band's genius. They deservedly have the most albums of any other artist on this list, and the Beatles will be the only band anyone still talks about hundreds of years from now.
An album I could listen to over and over again…
Great album; a lot of very sold Beatles songs on here, with some of their quieter hits. Favorite song: Eleanor Rigby. 9/10
An amazing album. A real turning point in their musical writing skills
Classic and surprisingly varied Beatles album showing increased maturity in writing and themes which still stands up well today. Taxman is curiosity too no doubt a response to their own increased person wealth, but a complete about turn from their working class roots. Yellow Submarine still feels like a sea shanty though which doesn't really fit with anything else here, but it's hard to mark the rest of the record down because of this. Ranked personal standouts: * For No One * I'm Only Sleeping * Eleanor Rigby
Contender for their best album. A towering achievement. Perfect balance of song craft and sonic experimentation.
Probably one of my favorite Beatles albums, tied with The White Album, this has to be the best album I’ve been recommended thus far. Throws me back to studying about differential equations in college and I used to have this on in the background. Eleanor Rigby is my jam.
It can be seen, heard and felt that they were innovators. Always a pleasure to listen to some psychodelic rock
It can only be 5, despite the fact that I'm still traumatised by that one time my English teacher decided to make the class listen to Yellow Submarine 20 times during 45 minutes.
Great varied album with some classic songs. Vocals, music and lyrics are in great harmony. Some love songs are timeless without being overcomplicated.
Great album, The Beatles really evolved from their "boy band" fab four roots. Taxman, the first time they sang anything political. Eleanor Rigby, great song, a departure from earlier work. I'm only sleeping, another great song, showing off their skills. The experimental sitar songs Love You Too, and Tomorrow Never Knows. I doubt anyone had put sitar in a western album before this. Good Day Sunshine, Got to get you into my life, great songs. Overall excellent album
Some of my favorite songs here! Imo, best, most classic, peak Beatles
Possibly the greatest pop music lp ever.
There’s a decent argument to made that this is their masterpiece. Psychedelia, baroque pop, hard hitting rock, children’s rhymes, they’re all here and all spectacular.
Been a while since I listened to this one. Still a classic.
This is one of the ultimate beatles Album you have to listen to. Best Beatles period. Classic. 5/5
Maybe the greatest album of all time. Even if Yellow Submarine blows.
Showcases the breadth of writing ability/styles from Lennon/McCartney and Harrison, even with vocal contributions from Ringo. Really diverse set of tracks, with Eleanor Rigby rubbing alongside Love You to and Yellow Submarine. Also notable for the innovative recording techniques, and it still sounds modern today.
I know this album really well, so it’s difficult to write about it. It’s always in the “top albums” lists and for good reason. It has some amazingly innovative tracks that pushed the boundaries of what could be done musically. You can really start to see the different personalities within the band and the influences that derived from their travels and interests. I’ve always found it to be a great album lyrically. Taxman has such a scathing tone, which seems really modern. There are some beautiful lyrics in more conventional songs like For No One. Tomorrow Never Knows is trippy and weird, which fits with the backwards samples. Then you have Yellow Submarine, which I think has very little going for it. I did have to sing it in school assemblies weekly, so that has given it a sense of familiarity and boredom that is not fair to Ringo.
IT was the Beatles. always good
Some classics on this album like Eleanor Rugby and Yellow Submarine. An enjoyable listen.
Obviously lol
I don't know, guys. It's the Beatles. What do you want?
Last year they released a super deluxe edition of this record. There are 5 discs in total, 2 of which were alternate tracks, including 2 of Eleanor Rigby of just the orchestral parts, they were gorgeous. It is a beautiful album.
The songwriting on this is wild, every track has some super catchy hook and almost all of them are excellent. Goes down smooth after listening to the White Album - Revolver still has an interesting mix of styles, but it's really coherent as well, a great album listen. Also the average track length is really short (2.5 mins) - might be a product of the era? Either way it's great.
I mean, I’m not gonna say anything revolutionary here; no hot takes. This is one of, if not, the best arranged album of all time. I don’t think there can be an argument. No skips, no lulls, nothing that should’ve been left off the track list. It’s not my favorite Beatles album, and I don’t think it’s their best, but if you think that, I wouldn’t fight you on it. Do yourself a favor and listen to the 2022 mix if you can!
I’m too familiar with this album to really talk about it in any objective way so I’m not gonna try. I love it to death. Even if you hate it, 100% a must-listen. The Beatles at their greatest intersection of creative energy and unity as a group. Best song: this time it was Tomorrow Never Knows
Aaah ça nettoie mes oreilles! Définitivement un de leur meilleur album, on retrouve un bon mix entre l’expérimentation psychédélique qui suivra dans Sgt Pepper et les chansons catchy de leur début
Revolver is all the Beatles in fine form. Each Member contributes significantly whether it’s John with the experimental Tomorrow never knows or the psychedelic classic I’m only sleeping, or Paul with two of the greatest love songs of all time with htae and For no one. Revolver is one of the best albums of all time
Listened to already, great stuff
Second best Beatles album. 5/5.
deserves its position as one of the best albums of all time, reminds me of smoking weed in the summer at my parents house in the country, early 20s. Was one of the first Beatles albums I got into. So much to enjoy here, even the cheesier stuff.
I only wish most of the tracks were a bit longer.
Not my favourite Beatles album but still think it's better than a lot of albums any other artist has made
This album just brings me so much joy, love it any time of the day.
Among my favourite Beatles albums, just like most other Beatles albums.
Perfection.
love revolver, one of my all time favourite albums. each song is a hit
The last album of phase one, I ONE IX ^ HE DIE, No. 49, Cranberry Sauce. Brilliant album, so easy to listen to. Top notch.
I absolutely love this album. I wasn't alive when it came out, but it doesn't matter : 'Got to get you into my life' and 'Here, there and everywhere' are absolutely perfect pop songs. Chemical Brothers also heavily leant on 'Tomorrow never knows' in 'Let Forever Be.' Ahh, this is one of the few albums that deserves the hype. John's voice sounds amazing. There are pop tunes mixed with global influences. There's silliness and heartfelt simple love. I just love it. Well done The Beatles. Five stars.
Listening to the Beatles always makes me smile. Great album.
It's crazy how good Tomorrow Never Knows is. The whole sitar movement in the 60's was a strange time in retrospect huh. 5/5
"Just hook it to my veiiiins!"- Barney Gumble, of the Be Sharps In all honesty, the Taxman solo distorted & repurposed for "Tomorrow Never Knows" is one of my favourite moments in any Beatles album. "For No One" is a Beatles song that I forget about for stretches of time, but am always floored by how beautiful it is. "Doctor Robert" may be the most underrated track, a great lil ditty whose only crime is being surrounded by even greater songs And of course, kudos to George Harrison for getting more songwriting representation and experimenting right off the bat, with "Love You To" and the dissonant "I Want To Tell You" July 21, 2023
