Reviews (page 10 of 14)
It's a classic. Seems like a transitional album from the "dumb" love song Beatles of the 50s to the "smart" era. Most songs have interesting complexity and thoughtful lyrics. Some songs are much stronger than others but still enjoyable.
Love this album. So many spectacular songs! If I'm being super critical, the quality isn't as consistent as some of their other albums.
Classic Beatles
Just whose soul were they rubbing, anyway?
What can you say about an album you've listened to so many times? Some of my favorite Beatles songs are on Rubber Soul -- "Michelle," "Nowhere Man," "In My Life." Other songs I enjoy less. I don't think I'll ever choose this album (or any Beatles album) when I'm in the mood for music, but I'll always be happy if someone else does.
I listened to this for the first time last week and really enjoyed the second listen more. My favorites were “Nowhere Man,” “The Word,” and “Michelle.”
This has way less wackiness and tweeness than previous Beatles so I enjoyed it more. These were good pop songs
The first good beatles album chronologically, I actually really like this album. I've always loved Norwegian Wood and In my life is one of my favorites. But at this point they were still holding onto a little bit of that slam on the drums and yell nonsense sound that I never liked in their earlier albums. For me, this was their grass is greener album but Ringo got caught on the fence. Favorite song: In My Life, honorable mention to Norwegian Wood
This is the first step that the boys took towards a less pop, more psychedelic sound that would end up taking over albums like Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour. This is evident from the sitar used on "Norwegian Wood", and even just looking at the album art. I think this album is what inspired Brian Wilson to make Pet Sounds too. He was amazed that the Beatles made this album a more cohesive listening experience, as opposed to just a collection of pop hits. So he decided that the Beach Boys should do the same. I learned all that in college, but have never actually listened to this all the way through, haha. Mostly just "In My Life" which is a great song. This isn't the band's best crop of tracks, but it's still very good.
Not my favorite Beatles album, but I still enjoyed it!
Definitely an album by the Beatles!
one or two forgettable songs but some really good ones. personal fav: i'm looking through you
Crafted pop by the masters of pop rock Sunday afternoon brunch for the ears.
This one is a victim of its own success. It’s good, accessible, but to me it’s not great. It’s the transition point from when the Beatles get really good. It gets bonus points for the year it came out, but it’s far from my favorite Beatles project
This is a nice assemblage of tunes, but in this vein, I prefer Revolver, and I also like Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper better, so I don't think this deserves five stars, though it has some classic songs on it.
An absolute classic record and staple of their discography. Such a beautiful, easy sequence of tracks to listen to, showcasing the band’s evolution. The songwriting, the rhythms, the melodies, it’s so damn catchy. This is one that make this band who they are. A milestone of music history.
Really fun album that showcased the versatility that the lads had to offer, will listen again at some point I’m sure.
A pretty good album, a couple of GOATs.
rub-a-dub-dub four men in a - why won't they just fuck off already
About damn time, huh? We still have Sgt. Pepper's waiting in the wings, but Rubber Soul is a great one. This one doesn't have as many immediate or big hits as many of the other Beatles albums, but it's really, really solid. The deep cuts are strong, and this album was the beginning of their shift to more pyschedelic (and more interesting) music. Some awesome melodies, "I'm Looking Through You" actually shocked me. Also, was "Michelle" sampled by Drake on "Champagne Poetry"? Crazy flip. The final track is bizarre though, should've left that one off. Otherwise, Love Rubber Soul, obviously not their best, but I'd put it in top five. Favorite tracks: Drive My Car, Norwegian Wood, You Won't See Me, Think for Yourself, Michelle, Girl, I'm Looking Through You, In My Life. Album art: Lightly psychedelic band photo, leaning into the hippie aesthetic. Font and forest is cool, nothing crazy. 4.5/5
Some say this is the greatest Beatles album. That I'm not sure about but does have some great tracks. The best being in my life
ah yes yes yes
Good album with some good songs. I think "Norwegian Wood" was my favorite.
This album was a good change from all the other pop records in the 60s. There's classics like "Norwegian Wood" and "In My Life". All four of the Beatles did a fantastic job. But there's a few generic songs that not a lot of people care about. Overall, "Rubber Soul" is great. I'll give a 4 star rating.
good vibes, not a lot of standout tracks but a solid album
Great album
Great!
4 this is really good
good
The point when The Beatles (mostly) left bubble gum pop behind for more heady psych rock/pop. This and the next 3 albums are peak Beatles.
I've said my piece on the Beatles every time we've had them here, and that's lots, so I won't really do it again. As far as Rubber Soul is concerned, I don't have it as good as Sgt Pepper or Abbey Road, but it's better than Revolver, Hard Day's Night and White Album for me. It's very skilled, it's got a creative and authentic sound and it's brilliantly produced. Nowhere Man, The Word, Girl and If I Needed Someone are all top songs I didn't know before this because I've never been a fan, but this is probably a low 4 if the two I had above it are high 4s.
This is a really good album - much more reflective and thoughtful than their early stuff, but a bit less weird and psychedelic than the stuff that's to come. Fades a little in the middle, but Norwegian Wood and In My Life are two of the best chilled Beatles songs, so a comfortable 4.
Rubber Soul is the sixth album by the English rock band the Beatles. It was an important release for the Beatles as they showed increasing maturity with their recording & songwriting skills and they focused more on the entire album instead of only the singles. It's a folk rock / pop album inspired by soul music that helped create the genres of psychedelia and progressive rock. John Lennon called it "the pot album" as it was the first drug-influenced Beatles record, with the favored drug being marijuana. The Beatles didn't want to cater to their young fans anymore and began writing songs about more grown-up topics like sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll. This paid off in the long run and this album has been certified gold in Brazil, Germany, & Italy; platinum in Australia & New Zealand; as well as double platinum in Argentina, Canada, & the UK; and 6x platinum in the US. Rubber Soul was a great transitional album by the Beatles. It's their first classic album as they finally proved themselves to be masters of the studio in addition to instrumentation and songwriting. The band was growing up and this was their first step to creating better albums. Every track earned its place on this album and they all fit together to make a fully fleshed out record. I really enjoyed this Beatles album. Although it may not be my favorite of theirs, this is really good and could be their earliest album that I enjoy. Give this somewhat overlooked Beatles album a listen! You won't be disappointed.
One of the four key Beatles albums. I can appreciate the importance of this record, but I don't really play The Beatles much, not really my thing.
It’s hard not to like the Beatles or st least acknowledge the depth and breadth of their impact. They set the standard for pop song writing. But once I realized “Norwegian Wood” was about burning down a girl’s home because she wouldn’t give more than pleasant conversation, it has hit a little different. And the lyrics to “Run for your Life” are more than a little cringy. I’m guessing they might like to have that one back. Those are the only things holding me back from giving this a full 5-stars, because otherwise it is a brilliant work of music.
The only reason I'm giving this 4* is Norwegian Wood. There are some decent songs aside from that, but nothing that rises to 4 for me. I get that it was very influential at the time, etc. etc. But damn, Norwegian Wood is a good song.
Great album, noticeable shift into less obvious pop songs
One of the better Beatles albums. Not much wrong with it and a cultural touchpoint.
Not the most popular of their work, but still good.
3rd Beatles album that's come up for me quite recently, 3rd legend. Was my favourite of theirs when I was a kid; it's not my favourite now but it is still remarkable
Oh, I wanted to give it five stars - it’s the Beatles arrival at the peak of their powers! And then “Run For Your Life” ended the album and John Lennon showed his abusive hand. Ick ick. A star deduction for karma.
So muss ein Album klingen
Took me like 3 listens to get past the songs I didn’t like, but once I started jamming with it I could see why people love the Beatles. Still overrated though
Veldig Beatles, men ikke Beatles på sitt aller beste. Slutten bumper det opp til en 4.
Pretty cool Beatles album that doesn't really have the same amount of singles that make the rounds as some of their other albums, but they sound great here. Loose and fun sounding. Doesn't hurt that In My Life is on this album and that's my wedding song, so it's easy to love this. Others here that I enjoyed are Drive My Car, Norweigian Wood, and Girl. Not the best Beatpes album but fun anyway.
4 feels low, 5 feels high. This is the era where the Beatles start crossing into “unbelievably good”, but I still hate the shit like “drive my car”
It’s Rubber Soul, not much I can say. Not my personal favourite, but still so many classic songs on this album.
Swag deras tidigare e bättre thou
It’s actually a 5 compared to other bands, but for a Beatles album, compared to the later phase in their career, it’s pretty uninteresting
De nuevo un álbum de los Beatles. Son leyenda por algo. Aún así no considero que sea uno de sus mejores álbumes.
Alright! Beatles album #3! This time, we have Rubber Soul to look at. This is generally considered to be the turning point for the Beatles where they finally started to make truly amazing albums. I haven't heard the albums that came before this, but that seems about right. Regardless of if this was their first great album or not, it is definitely a great album to be sure. While their sound isn't quite as experimental or polished as it is on the other albums of theirs I've heard (Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper's), it's still very strong. The writing, sound, and singing is all still great though. Not every song is as good as the rest. I thought "The Word" was just alright and the album ends with what is probably the worst one on the album, "Run For Your Life." This album does however contain some truly amazing songs though. Songs like "Norwegian Wood", "Nowhere Man", and especially "In My Life" stand out as being some of the best songs that you could listen to in 1965. Overall, while Rubber Soul isn't my favorite Beatles album, it is still a worthwhile listen that serves some importance in the career of the most iconic band to ever exist. High 4/5.
I liked it
I love how the Beatles evolved over time. This album is such a great example of them becoming more profound, with richer sound, exploring deeper lyrics. I’m ok on their early stuff, but this is where it gets really good to me. The last song is a bit psycho, but somehow they even make a song about raging jealousy catchy. This is an exceptional collection of Beatles tunes.
Lots of great songs but does have some questionable ones on there lyrics wise.
Rating: 8/10 Best songs: Drive my car, Think for yourself, The world, Girl, I’m looking through you, Run for your life
B+ Drive My Car 3 Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) 3 You Won't See Me 4 Nowhere Man 4 Think For Yourself 5 The Word 4 Michelle 5 What Goes On? 3 Girl 4 I'm Looking Through You 4 In My Life 5 Wait 4 If I Needed Someone 3 Run For Your Life 3 Michelle is one of The Beatle's greatest songs, but I wasn't sure if this would get a 4. I don't even like it that much, but it's still fantastic.
The Beatles once again show their influence on contemporary music. It was a nice, concise length and definitely demonstrates further development in their proficiency. While I did not truly enjoy the album and can’t particularly remember any of the songs, I wasn’t listening too closely but enjoyed the overall sound.
Pretty awesome. I'm not a big fan of the sitar bits across any of their music and this album has quite a bit of it. Still, lots of really cool ideas on this record that were probably fresh and new in the 60s. Not my favourite Beatles album by any means, but still a really really strong record - especially compared to the likes of some of these other 1001 albums..
Notable tracks: Drive My Car, The Word, Michelle, Run For Your Life
Very good album. Good energy and entusiasm
Old cool songs
I had a huge Beatles phase and this was right before their massive artistic turn with sgt peppers. Some of the best Beatles tracks (Norwegian wood, Michelle, in my life, nowhere man) show up on this record. Drive my car is fun. I’m looking through you is a sleeper bop. It’s interesting how it’s so acoustic focused but I remember reading a review that the cover is a good representation. Their basking in nature which is repped with the natural instrumentation but they are also a little warped looking. It’s like the final hurrah of their earlier/mid years before they really cemented their legendary status.
Not a huge Beatles fan. Some bops. Liked the album length lol
For those that like elements of both sides of the Beatles, this album is a treat. You absolutely sense the classic, love song, pop-group that we all know and love. Then, you get the sense of changes to come. Things are slower, more thoughtful. The songs about relationships and minor themes are still there, but the writing appears to be more explorative and the instruments featured begin to expand. We feel the onset of something exciting. We get the excellent joy from Paul, and then the oddity of John. I wouldn’t say this is the peak of the mix, but the middle road brings some excitement. It’s wild that the 60s can very nearly be split in 2, right to when this came out in 65 because it really feels like Help is the end of the pop era, and revolver is the start of the trip era, with the nestled square in the middle.
Der Klassiker. Yeah!
It doesn't quite reach the heights of the best Beatles albums but still close to flawless
Bara bra musik helt enkelt. Inte super cohesive dock, fast blir ändå bra.
The Beatles' self-proclaimed "weed album". They took a more mature, folk-inspired direction on this one, compared to the albums that came out before this. I prefer the original US track listing rather than the UK one, I feel like its more of a folk-rock vibe which I like.
Not their best album but a couple of their best songs on here. All round a solid album.
can definitely hear the transition into the style and experimental nature of later albums (abbey road and the white album being 5/5s for me). a great all out album offering good lyricism, some unique instruments like the sitar in 'norwegian wood'. has a nice warmth/good feeling to it. i actually prefer this to sgt peppers it feels a bit more cohesive throughout instead of having a big disparity in how much i like the songs.
Good album, very easy listen. Stand out songs for me were Norwegian Wood, Girl and In My Life.
Great Beatles album. Lots of classics and the nonradio songs were good too. Ended on a weird note with a murdery song that didnt land well but I liked the rest of the album. 4.5 stars. Im not sure I will give a beatles album 5 stars but maybe others in the future will change my mind
Some tracks are timeless hits, some are ok I guess
Pleasant album
A lot of classics. Didn't know this album yet. Good songs!
Didn’t start listening to the Beatles until I was an adult. Knew some of these songs but this whole album was great.
Mit første Beatles album fra start til slut. Det var en kort oplevelse. Fed fremdrift, og det vokser ret naturligt på mig. Glæder mig til at lytte til de store albums senere. Jeg er ihvertfald nysgerrig.
Great album. Early Beatles.
Stuck on repeat. I must have listened to the album four times. Aside from the obvious hits. I’m looking through you, and if I needed someone were surprises for me.
A solid album. Has my second favorite Beatles song with Norwegian Wood. A few other classics. Run For Your Life is a bit cringey.
The first tastes of something more but I’ll take the white album
The Beatles. Listened to all their albums al lot as a kid. Rubber Soul was a new and different approach after Help et al. More mature, playing with different styles and genres, foreshadowing what will become of The Beatles. My favorites are Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, and In My Life.
The Beatles never put out a bad album. This one is good because it marks a big change in their sound to more complexity. Favorites are Norwegian Wood and In My Life. That said, I still rank this album behind many of their later albums.
Beatles albums are hard to rate because they have so many well known songs and having not been alive during their original releases it's hard to understand the breakthroughs they were achieving in their music. This album was the beginning of a new era for them.
This is a classic. Not in my top few Beatles albums but still great.
I enjoyed it. Good representation of the Beatles versatility
Tjah. 14 nummers waarvan er een stuk of 10 niet heel indrukwekkend zijn. Het is allemaal goed aan te horen, maar op de hits na is het ook weer niet zo bijzonder. Qua cijfer tussen de 3 en 4, ik rond af naar boven.
Greatness!
AMAZING!
Ah, the Beatles’ Pot Album. They were transitioning into more musical experimentation and drugs, but the songs are more dated than Revolver and onward, with more “oooh la la la” backing vocals and maybe more simple, less mature subject matter than some later tracks. I’d say In My Life, Girl, and Norwegian Wood are my favorites; I do favor John and find him to be the most innovative of the group, while Paul wrote the most sublime heartfelt ballads. George was still honing his talents here but showed great promise. It’s an important album but not my favorite Beatles work. Also, Run For Your Life is the worst track.
This is a very notable album from the Beatles, with many hits that are easily recognizable, and some that I haven't dedicated enough time to that sound really good as well. It's a very fun album that is nowhere near a chore to listen to. It's short and to the point and many of the songs feature interesting choices in sound and production thanks to George Martin. Drive My Car starts off the album with a distinct guitar riff and Paul's harsh "hard rock" vocals creates a very catchy track. Norwegian wood is one I've listened to so much already that I lost interest in it, but it still is a really good song. You Won't See Me is a track I haven't listened to much and grew on me during this listen. Great vocals from Paul, perfect backing vocals from John and George, and a great groove from Ringo's drumming here. Think For Yourself is a great track with George taking the lead on vocals and the guitar. Overall a great sound and very notable. The other few tracks are pretty good but it would take way too long to say how I feel about them all. Girl is another hidden gem for me, since I haven't listened to it enough. John's vocals are insanely good here. The acoustic guitar in the track is great to hear, and the backing "dit-dit-dit" completes the track. The next 4 tracks are insanely notable hits with In My Life taking the spot on my most notable. Run For Your Life is an okay song to end the album. It isn't perfect but it's still something good to listen to. Most notable songs: Drive My Car, You Won't See Me, Nowhere Man, Think For Yourself, Girl, In My Life, Wait, If I Needed Someone Notable: Norwegian Wood, What Goes On, Girl, I'm Looking Through You, Not for me: The Word, Michelle, Run For Your Life
Rubber Soul is in many the Beatles' first big step into greatness. Although it is not their best album by any means, Rubber Soul showcases the early experiments of the band that would lead to incredible sounds in the future. Stands outs on the album include "I'm Looking Through You", "Nowhere Man", "In My Life" and "Girl". My least favorite songs: "Drive My Car"
drive my car norwegian wood michelle girl wait
The Beatles *love* stereo sound
Solid album, but not my favorite. Classic Beatles
Several classics from the other album my folks had, The Beatles Greatest Hits Vol 1.
Let's do another track-by-track review of The Beatles lamest long player: 1. Rubber Soul starts off with a typical Paul pop ditty. The rhythm section sounds great but the guitar solo is really weak. It's OK. 2. Norwegian Wood is one of John's best songs. A masterpiece. 3. I've obviously heard this song before but I have no recollection of "You Won't See Me". It's a wonder John Cena never used this one. 4. John mope. Plenty of la-la-las but it's a bit more mature than the love songs the group had been making previously. 5. George complains about the government. Like "You Won't See Me" I must have heard this song before but I've got no memory of it. The fuzzy guitar is fun. 6. Hippie stuff. Dig that organ, though! 7. Michelle is a pretty song. I bet a lot of girls named Michelle had suitors dedicate this one to them in the sixties. The backing track is terrific. The acoustic plucking sounds great. 8. The Ringo One 9. Is this the horniest Beatles song?? Like Norwegian Wood the instrumentation has a slight Eastern thing going on. 10. Great track - especially the percussion and organ. Shout out to Ringo. 11. In My Life is probably the best song the Beatles ever recorded. What a track! 12. Wait is filler. 13. The other George one. It's OK. 14. Produced like an older Beatles song and the lyrics are wack.
I think this album is the kind of Beatles album I would have heard as a kid and not really enjoyed. Now though, I can say it wasn't hard to get through, I appreciate that the album feels like a nice pocket of its own thing. I think the middle section of the album better encapsulates what I think good Beatles songs are with breaks in layering and more solo moments for vocals, and more harmonies when the layering is used. I decided to rate it the way I did because I did actually like "Michelle" enough to add it to my main playlist. Such a pretty song and I like the moments of singing in french. It's also really stripped down, less folk-y in my opinion.
Ah here we go again. The Beatles conversation is one with no end and plenty of side paths that every human being who listens to music can exist within, on, off, sidelined, parked, crashed or at a perceived destination that they found to be a wholly unique experience. Impossible to be devoid of context and impact any Beatles review is sure to be a subject of dissection, reverence or disdain. If you view it in a vacuum, this isn’t my favorite or what I consider their best. If you factor the impact it made on 1965 and the whole of global culture, it’s the shift album that shows a maturing band. I’m not going down either exhausting path. Production is solid and sounds clean and clear, remaster to applaud for that, but laid out well and balanced. Somehow ‘In My Life’ always seems to come out of the blue and ‘Wait’ just sounds like ‘You Won’t See Me’ 2.0. 4/5
Great album not my favorite Beatles album but good flow.
I prefer The Beatles in their later years, but can’t argue with the album’s place in history as one of the best albums of all time. On this listen, the harmonies of “If I Needed Someone” made me think of Crosby, Stills, & Nash. It’s a great album that gives all of the Fab4 a chance to shine… but as a listener, I’ll admit I get impatient waiting for the album to give me a bit more meat on the bone. 3.8
My second Beatles album from this generator. I listened to the first one - The White Album - with my older kid and I'm listening to this one with my younger kid. My older kid and I panned The White Album, recognizing that there were a few phenomenal songs. Something similar is happening here - a few fabulous songs, a lot of missable ones. But on balance, I'm enjoying this album much more than The White Album. Norwegian Wood is my absolute favorite Beatles song, so this album will get high marks for that alone. But Nowhere Man, Michelle, Girl, and In My Life are also really great. I'm not as familiar with If I Needed Someone but I'm really enjoying it as well. On the other hand, there's no excuse for Drive My Car, with or without the double entendre. You Won't See Me, The Word, What Goes On, and Run for Your Life are also pretty bad.
One of their best, I think. Post teenybopper, although barely.
Weird to say but I came around late on the Beatles. Now I have incredible appreciation for the type of music they were making at the time, how individually talented each member was and the density of great/creative music they put out in a short amount of time. Solid album. Not their best so we’ll leave some room on the upside.
Not much to be said here. Great album. Doesn’t get a 5 simply because I know even better albums are forthcoming (Beatles and other artists). Great tunes for driving around London knocking side mirrors off cars and failing your practical driving test. 4.25/5

* all of them are at least mild bangers new: - norwegian wood - you won't see me
The hits (Drive My Car, Norwegian Wood, In My Life) are hits. Rest is too early beatles for me.
Great early Beatles songs!
Ganz OK. Aber ich bin echt kein Beatles Fan
To me this is pretty basic Beatles and not my favorite from them. There are obviously the massive hits but I’m not a huge fan of the back half of the album.
They really did create some complex melodies here. Many if these are familiar songs from childhood, like Nowhere Man (an old favorite I can remember singing to myself as a girl). But some I have never heard before are very enjoyable--Michelle, What Goes On, and Girl are all strong songs in the middle of the album. They really did develop their style between this album and their earlier hits. I especially love the instrumentation in Michelle.
Favorite: I’m looking through you
Never been a Beatles fan(i hated them in childhood, tbh don't know why). But this is a great enjoyable album, vocals are good, instruments sound good. Favourite song(s): none, but i would rank every song on one good level, "Run For Your Life" if that song released now, Lennon would be canceled same moment, but other than that i enjoy listening to this album. Solid 4/5, i get it why most people would rate this 5/5, but personally me i can't stand folk music, would i listen that album after Generator, probably not, but i had a great time listening to "Rubber Soul".
4.5 stars Favourite songs: - Norwegian Wood - Nowhere Man - Wait
Memories of Julia and I being utterly in love with the Beatles in high school and my being jealous of her dad’s collection! Not my fav in their catalog but Norwegian Wood, In my Life and If I Needed Someone are standouts
It's easy to hear where a lot of later rock has come from. Favorite song: Michelle.
My first Beatles album! Excited to sit down and listen like a teen in the 1960's. Norwegian Wood and Michelle are both fantastic songs. In My Life is an all time great track for a reason. Overall this is a solid album but not perfect. Think For Yourself, The Word, and What Goes On are all pretty forgettable. Run For Your Life is disturbing but has the same morbid draw to me as Last Kiss, would not fault anyone for being out on that track though. You can also hear just the start of the band growing into what will become such an amazingly compelling sound on Revolver then Sgt. Pepper. As an album it's good, but it's place in music history is much more of a marker of things to come. As much as I love playing the contrarian, the Beatles practically defined rock history and I only love the band more the more I listen to them.
It's the Beatles doing what they do. I am also biased as I've always liked this album.
Great album, doesn’t compare to some of their others though - nothing particularly mind blowing on here
The Beatles maybe exist on their own pop music plane a bit. Like how if someone says “Who’s the best hockey player there ever was?” that question either comes with the assumed implication of “Well, other than Wayne Gretzky,” or it’s a pointless question. Anyways, I think middle period is kinda my least favourite Beatles period, which gives me the uncomfortable opinion of not liking Rubber Soul that much. It’s cool hearing them start to really put it together, but I like them more when they’re already totally put together, and also more when they’re right at the end of being Just A Rock Band. They’re best when they’re at the stage of having mastered something, rather than when they’re frickin around (but also White Album is my favourite, which is maximum frickin, so who knows). It’s still obviously a great album though, duh. (Also, this list has given all sorts of 60s British rock, contemporaries of the Beatles, and I’ve disliked a lot of it more than I expected to. Beatles just head and shoulders and another set of shoulders above the rest of that stuff eh?)
4/5 Beatles on this one
It's good, but I don't love it as much as some other Beatles records.
Some really good songs. But I just didn't relate with most of them.
There is not a bad song on this album. You can tell it’s the first album of The Beatles changing there sound. Like it still sounds like early Beatles in some ways but it’s also developed and experimented in others
Lowkey not bad. Made me realize I might not be opposed to the beatles
This is the earliest Beatles album I've listened to yet, and yeah, they were very solid from early on. "Norwegian Woods" and "Nowhere Man" are fantastic songs.
I like this 4 piece combo, they're like a modern day Oasis, hopefully they'll have a long career.
Solid Beatles album but I didn't like every song.
Astronomy Domine Lucifer Sam Chapter 24
ah shit man
Obviously a classic. Not their best but a harbinger of things to come
placing rubber soul as squarely in the middle of the beatles' discography makes a lot of sense. it even acts as a sort of bridge. rubber soul has a lot of easy, charming pop, but with a song like "the word" proclaiming "the word is love," it's very sixties while also pointing the beatles in their new direction after their initial pure pop/rock sound. i of course have to mention george harrison. his two songs on this album aren't as well known (in typical beatles fashion), but they're still worth knowing (as all of his songs are). "think for yourself" shows harrison to be light years ahead of his bandmates and contemporaries, especially in terms of topics and songwriting. a song that changes its tempo often with the use of that fuzzy bass sound, it offers a sharp rebuke: "think for yourself/'cause i won't be there with you."
I was actually pretty surprised when I started this album and looked over the tracklist, realizing I knew virtually none of these songs, save for "In My Life", which, let me just quickly add, is a jewel of a song and probably the best on the album. First thought: what a difference a year makes! "Hard Day's Night" was a major album of theirs in 1964, and in 1965, this album rolls around, sounding much more sophisticated and less "bubblegummy". It's also psychedelic, but not overly so; there's a lot of folk here, which I dug. This album really has no skips, either. Every song is well done, flows well, and is cohesive with the rest of the album. Now that I've heard the album, I'm not sure how I went so long not specifically hearing this album. I am excited to listen to this again!
Was my fav when I was a teen. Still love most of it. Nostalgia for days.
Not as great as the following albums, but still a great album
I knew most of these songs, I didn't realize they were on this album 4 start
Never heard this full album. Loved it.
Can’t go wrong with the Beatles and this is them at their very best.
Fair play to them. Fair play.

Not the greatest Beatles album but a massive leap forward, even with some weak entries like "Michelle" and "What Goes on". Should this be a 3? Feels hard giving it a 4 when I know Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper exists
Not my favorite Beatles album but has some classics
I remember this being my favourite Beatles album when I FIRST started out listening to music and though it’s no longer my (top) favourite now, it still has a special spot in my heart.
Beatle-mässig so es mittelding zwüsched de eifache lieder vode früehnere Albene und de kreative production ide nögste. Nenn mich päsch, wil ich lieb Michelle. Mega schöni musig, nöd i mine top beatles Albene, aber ebe: es goht langsam i die richtig (spoti beatles besti beatles).

Great Beatles album, probably their best work before Sgt peppers. It kinda built the way for what was going to come, 7/10
really good album
Too monotonous.
The first Beatles album I’ve been served. It’s pretty good; I admittedly sometimes find the Beatles a little grating (probably from overexposure), but this wasn’t really irritating. Highlights: - Norwegian Wood - In My Life
As usual, it is very difficult to talk about Beatles albums in ways that haven't been talked about before. Here's my attempt: Rubber Soul is a radical transitional piece. It's bringing the 60's out of cheesy by-the-books pop and into new sonic territory. While bands have done more forward-thinking stuff before or since, Rubber Soul broke the mold to make a much more comfortable shoe. We've been walking it ever since. But what the hell is up with Run For Your Life? Such a disturbing song!
Some songs on the album are bangers. Others are rather questionable . 4
It’s Rubber Soul. It’s The Beatles.
very solid beatles album, in my life is my favourite beatles song
I very much enjoyed this album. Although Run for Your Life is very dark and quite unsettling
Great album. This is the first album given to me on this app that I would really listen to again. But, it is The Beatles so it's not a hard decision.
Solide, aber einige redundante tracks
I'm not gonna give them all 5s
Gear: Dunu SA6 Mische: Remaster 2009 grandios!
Geweldig album, love the beatles. Wist van veel nummers niet eens dat ze van dw beatles waren
Really enjoyed Drive My Car and Michelle. Felt quite funky for the Beatles
Excellent blend of pop and a more experimental sound. Some really strong highs but a few forgettable tracks. Run for your life hasn’t aged well.
Giving it a 4 only because this is my favorite Beatles album. That being said it is a **Beatles** album. Proper rating would be 3.5
*British sounds*
Such a good way to end the earlier traditional Beatles sound. Very polished. Nowhere Man gotta be the highlight here. But the real treat of this album is Ringo Starr doing a lead vocal (What Goes On) where he’s NOT singing about an imaginary creature or some drug-induced situation he finds himself in
Solid
This album is the ultimate 'fuck you' to people who can only hear out of one ear.
A good album. Not the biggest Beatles fan but the song Girl is something I’m glad I found.
Being just a studio band as a pop music group was unheard of before this album. Beatlemania was at an end, and the Beatles were no longer merely a product to be sold. The band stopped touring, and there was a significant downshift in the marketing side of things, and this put more focus on actually creating music. A lot of people know Rubber Soul as the Beatles' pot album, since Bob Dylan had introduced them to marijuana in 1964. The lads smoked a lot of pot during the recording of Help!, and that marijuana motif spills over into this album, what with the album cover being reminiscent of the leaves as well as the distorted image evoking a sense of altered consciousness. Unlike on Help!, however, the Beatles didn't work high on this album. They took their drug experiences into the studio but not the drugs. Rubber Soul has vision and articulation, a clear-headed and purposeful musical statement. This is also where the Lennon / McCartney rivalry really takes off. The duo were rarely writing together by this point, just answering each other's songs instead, like a game of oneupmanship. One day Lennon would come into the studio with a song, the next day McCartney would show up with something of his own. Harrison was also getting in on the songwriting act. He had only two songs on the first five albums, but now he's got two songs just on this album. This is the real beginning of his songwriting career, and you can hear the maturity as he just gets better and better. On his "Think for Yourself", he's not afraid to try a bit of sound experimentation: the two simultaneous bass guitar lines, one conventional and the other run through a fuzzbox. Overall, the general songwriting style of the Beatles was changing. No more naive, shallow love songs about dating and holding hands. There's a sense of adventure, a sense of questioning, no doubt influenced by the drug use, the sexual experiences, and the dabbling in spirituality, evidenced in the song "The Word", wherein belief in the sufficiency of love is proclaimed. With love, all the world's problems are solved. Despite these new frontiers, the band keeps to the brevity and clarity of the classic pop song. Rubber Soul also has a streak of sarcasm and irony running through it. The Beatles are laughing at and joking about their fame as they comment on stardom and seduction. Everyone fawned over the Beatles, everyone lusted after them. The best example is "Drive My Car", and musically it's an interesting number: the guitar and bass doubling the vocal, the use of the tambourine instead of the cymbal, the drumming rimshots, creating a stronger, sharper sound. Let's go back to that new frontier idea I mentioned earlier. Listen to "Norwegian Wood". This is the first time that the sitar replaces the lead guitar. Look at the social criticism on "Nowhere Man", the opening a capella line and somber tone giving the impression of profundity. This song attacks their parents' generation of conformity.
Songs I really liked Norwegian Wood Nowhere Man In my Life All songs are easily listenable to I did not feel the need/urge to skip any songs. 4/5
its the beatles
Hmm catchy. I can see why they were so popular.
It’s the Beatles what more can I say Top Tracks: 1) In My Life 2) I’m Looking Through You 3) Michelle 4) Norwegian Wood 5) Girl
How did the Beatles put out 13 albums in 7 years, no wonder they broke up! Their 6th album 2 years into being called the Beatles.
Great album, lots of fun to hear the block of music put out at the same time. Drive my car and the song about life were great
Beatles er alltid bra
I don't like the 5 star system, it's too hard. I don't think I can go 5 here, but I really liked it. Maybe as I become more of a Beatles fan I'll be at a 5 but rn I'm at a 4. Probably a strong 8/10. I like the Beatles, I love their versatility, but on this album a lot of songs kind of melded together in my head
This is quintessential 60s Brit rock. Might be more folksy than what I like about the Beatles, but it's still great.
Great folky Beatles. Probs in my top 5 of favorites Beatles.
Not my favorite Beatles album, but a good album nonetheless. The standout track for me is "If I Needed Someone". This album doesn't hit as hard as Revolver or Abbey Road, but showcases what the Beatles were good at: coming up with catchy hooks and grooves. This gets a 7/10 from me. 3.5
4.5 Eerder! Love The Beatles forever.
удивительным образом здесь собралось много песен, которые я где-то слышал и имею хорошее мнение о них отличный альбом, 4+
Forgot how dope I'm Looking Through You
It was fine, I've heard all the songs before so it was nothing new. Nothing life changing. Nowhere Man, Michelle, and In My Life were favorites.
7/10 This one is hard to rate because it was the one Beatles album that my parents owned. Even as a child I could feel the "sixties-ness" of songs like The Word. I liked this Beatles album, but it was never my favorite. I get that this is when they began morphing into the psychedelic band that they would become, but this one feels like it has a foot in both worlds and doesn't quite surpass the version they were before or the version they would become. Really noticed how great Paul's bass playing is on this listen.
Majority of somgs are great, but some…
Hey, it's the Beatles. Not quite the brilliance of, say Abbey Road, but still a solid album.
The beatles very rarely miss with their music and this was another example of that. Track 10 was a stand out track, but I enjoyed all of them. This isn't their strongest album but it's still a good album.
Good for it's Time but now a bit boring
especially liked In My Life during this listen. sweet english bois.
Very groovy was fw it
Difficult to rate as some very good songs and a few duds.
It has a few great songs.
Heard it before wonderful album
One of my all time favorites, I have a soft spot for this one. A lot of great songs on this one and perhaps the last pretty standard Beatles album before things got experimental! 8,5 out of 10
unfortunately pretty good. liked in ny life best. run for your life made me hope ill have to run for my own and fail.
One of my lesser listened Beatles albums, so I enjoyed it more than expected
The start of the Beatles genius. Not as perfect as albums that would come but still a must listen. Very close to 5 stars for me but not quite
A collection of beautiful songs in a range of styles. Didn't gel as an album as much as I'd imagined it might.
Banger. Although the whole vibe of run for your life is deeply unsettling.
the upbeat mccartney songs are the perfect counterbalance to the dark, morose lennon songs. quality work.
Got some great stuff on this early Beatles album.
Drive My Car and Norwegian Wood songs are great
never thought i would be a "i like the beatles but only in mono" kind of guy but here i am. doesnt hit the same in stereo.
Good to revisit. Love Michelle, best song on the album 8/10
crazy how much better this is than Abbey Road
Nearly perfect... I totally hear them developing their psychedelic sound and bridging the gap from their mop-top-boy-band ways.
Decent
The almost cultural icons make an almost masterpiece. Not quite completely elevated from their previous work, but if it had been the last record they made it would have been quite a legacy.
Its beatles. Not their besz but still quite good
4.5
7/14, 50%
Not the best beatles for me, but still good.
If you would have asked me a decade or so ago what I thought of the Beatles I would have told you I didn't like their music and it's no good. Had I listened to their music extensively? Absolutely not. Did I want to be a hater and dislike the things that many others enjoyed? Absolutely! Today, I do not have strong feelings towards the Beatles one way or another. The popular stuff that gets played everywhere I actually do enjoy a bit! I have made no effort to listen further though. And that will probably continue unless it's through more albums in this list. As for Rubber Soul, I actually enjoyed the whole thing! I think it was quite good and I was bopping along the whole way. Is this music technically impressive? Hell if I know. Is it inspired? Maybe not. Was it fun to listen to for half an hour? Absolutely. And that's good enough for me, man. Songs that stuck out to me: Think For Yourself, Michelle, Wait, and Run For Your Life. Finding perhaps their most unlikely ally, I'm here to save the Beatles from this group of haters.
It sure is the beatles
Super super super album des Beabea, mais il est short d’une place dans mon top 5 de leur meilleurs albums.
Feels like the bridge album between early and late Beatles.
Basically a textbook on pop songwriting. Absolute classic. Last song is a little rapey but is perhaps the Beatles best album? Id give it a strong 9/10 but I won't give it 5 stars cos it's not quite 10
3.5/5 I see this as a transitionary album between the Beatles early period (that a don’t really rate) and their later period (that I think is great)
It's the Beatles. As always classic. That said not sure this is my favorite of their albums.
Good stuff, not surprisingly
Highlights: "I'm Looking Through You," "You Won't See Me," "Drive My Car," "Norwegian Wood" Everything has been said, but just to cast my vote: one of the Beatles' absolute best, with one foot in their old sound and one in the new. They seemed to accumulate styles over time, and by now we have a nice diverse blend of '50s rock, Byrds, Dylan, jokey ragtime, Paul's chamber dabbling, and sparkles of their emerging take on 'psych'. It also has some of their clearest, most balanced songwriting, with lots of material that manages to handle negative emotions, powerfully expressed, in a suitably upbeat musical mood. We only got a few like this before they flew all the way up their own asses forever. It's too bad it trips so hard at the finish line with "Run for your Life," which with hindsight about John Lennon's abuse is totally abhorrent. "Norwegian Wood" is notoriously ominous in this way too. Again, fuck John Lennon. Otherwise, maybe not especially influential in its own right among their catalogue, but a standard of pop excellence.
Solid album paving the way for what came next.
The beginnings of greatness 4/5
The album where the influence of their US tour and return from the beginnings of Beatlemania also starts to show the groups changing influence and lays the path for them to move from the pop band they started out as to the experimental band that doesn't tour. This is the entry into my personal favorite period of the Beatles, the one where they make music for themselves and release lightning from a bottle. 4.5/5.
Not my favorite Beatles album, but a Beatles album nonetheless :D
Didn’t listen this time but that doesn’t stop it being a great album 😊
I knew most of the songs before, but not all of them. A lot of variation, and it’s all good. No atrocities like yellow submarine or ob la di. Production is not great. It’s was new and everybody was still learning. Favorite song is hard to pick, ‘cause they’re so different: Girl.
Once again, the stereo version available on streaming is an awful headphone listen. Mono is a must for Beatles albums before Sgt Pepper.
Good stuff probably my favorite Beatles album I’ve listened to so far
Pretty good and consistent album In my life is the best off the album Not sure about that last track tho
Beatles always good, but later albums are better
This album starts very strong and finishes strong but the middle stretch is what really lets it down. Every song from "Nowhere Man" to "Girl" blends into the other and I find it impossible to give a crap about any one of them. Just so it doesn't sound overly negative, I do actually quite like this album. That stretch is a letdown but it's still very nice, just not up to anywhere near the same standard as the others. When I first set this one going it was before I went out on a long walk and I remember exactly where I was when I realised that, hey, that Johnny Cash song was a cover of a Beatles song! And the original "In My Life" is much better. The folky interlude bit in the middle is beautiful, incredibly so. "I'm Looking Through You" is great fun, and Norwegian Wood is the best song on here. I was about to write that it's one of Harrison's best compositions except for the fact that he didn't write it, which does somewhat disqualify it. In my defense, sitar. But in the end the long middle stretch of comparative blandness kind of scuppers this one for me. Perfectly inoffensive but it's probably worth taking the best songs off it, sticking them on a playlist and sticking to Revolver.
8/10
Thpppppt
I don't know why I had such a disdain for The Beatles but it's been very prominent for most of my journey with music. It could perhaps be attributed to the fact that there's this idea being promulgated of them being the greatest band of all time. Unfortunately, because of this I refused to really absorb their music. Maybe it's also the fact that I am older and have found a love for music in the 60s. Regardless I'm really liking this album. Yes, compared to modern music it sounds very stripped back but it doesn't take away from the innovation. As a matter of a fact there's a lot to appreciate in the songwriting. There's unique instruments being used that save each song from Vacuity. I am happy to say I now can appreciate their music.
It'll get 4. Harmonies are clutch, song structures are interesting, Michelle is a great blsong
Slightly more variety than their first albums while retaining their shorter length and simpler structure, but not yet going more experimental or conceptual as with their later albums. I like this album a lot as a transition. There are a few weaker tracks and moments but it isn’t too long and is overall a very enjoyable listen.
Nice
4 stars
I'd genuinely never heard of *Rubber Soul* even though it's like right in the middle of their other stuff that I like. It's good!
It's a classic, but not really one of their best. Enjoyable at the very least
Never really listened to a Beatles album all the way through. Can definitely see the insane influence they have had on other artists a great collection of songs throughout no skips.
8/10
8/10
Easily one of my favorite Beatles albums and the most consistently good of their early albums. I didn't dislike any song on the album but it did have a couple meh songs like "Wait" and "Norwegian Wood". Despite that it has a couple of my favorite pre-psych Beatles songs in "Nowhere Man", "Drive My Car", "You Won't See Me", "Girl" and "Michelle". Overall I think this was their best album up to this point and was to me easily the best of their albums before they entered their psychedelia phase. A solid 9.5/10 and it only didn't get a 10 because of the few meh songs above but the rest of the album is easily 10/10 material.
So I'm not the biggest Beatles fan in the world, I like them fine I just never connected with them on a deep personal level like a lot of people do. That being said I think this album collectively is one of my favorites of theirs. I agree with everyone above that the last track (Run For Your Life) is my least favorite but I like everything else. 4/5.
I could happily sit here and sing along with every single song. The songs, the melodies, the harmonies are all spot on and so, so good. Apart from the wildly inappropriate 'Run For Your Life' this is an almost perfect album. 4 / 5 stars.
Probably the Beatles at their best, and it is a good album.
Genres: Folk rock, rock, pop Formed: Liverpool in 1960 Run time: 14 songs, 35 min 32 sec I love some Beatles songs, some are too poppy for me. This album fits that. Despite being only a 35 minute album it crams in 14 songs, all of which are concise and perfectly formed. As song writers, Lennon and McCartney are amazing. They might be equalled, but they won’t be surpassed. The track “The Word”, which I have never heard of and don’t recall ever listening to has over 15M plays on Spotify. Unbelievable! Most tracks have over 10M plays, and three have over 100M plays. I enjoyed the album, and it’s great to read about the tracks and their origins, which is possible because they are so well analysed. My Rating: ****
Fine OK?! Its a FINE album. The Beatles are fine. Four stars.
4.5 Just the tiniest bit of filler that, ironically, keeps it from being on par with Abbey Road.
Great album.qa
Not as good or fresh as their other albums but still a decent pop/rock album with some great songs. "In my life" gets a whole star by itself.
Tight, sharp sound. Love Norwegian Wood and I'm Looking Through You. Nowhere Man and In My Life are absolute classics. Run For Your Life is creepy.
אחלה של אלבום. בטופ 5 אלבומים שלי של הביטלס. 8/10.
Not their best, still pretty darn good.
A classic Beatles album with rumblings of the greatness to come. For those who prefer their Beatles poppier and only a tiny bit experimental, this is probably the group's zenith. 'Drive My Car', 'Nowhere Man', 'In My Life', 'Michelle' - there's just so much to love on this album.
Real classic.
Bastante bueno, aunque no lo considero lo mejor de los Beatles, hay muchos otros album que prefiero sobre este pero aun así, una buena escucha :) Débil a sólido 9 Canción favorita: The Word
I can't believe that I've listened to 157 records on this generator before I got 1 Beatles album, because I'm assuming that there are quite a few in this list. Historically, I've been known to not be a huge fan of the Beatles. I never cared for their poppy stuff too much, but always understood how influential they were in the grand scheme of music. This album, however, was a bit of a stray from their usual poppy crap, and they were testing the waters of psychadelica/blues rock a bit here. Certainly albums that followed (Revolver/Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) delved into these genres heavier, but this album was the start of that shift. I thoroughly enjoyed the country/blues rock feel of the song What Goes On, and the inclusion of a sitar in the song Norwegian Wood was great! The song Run For Your Life was a bit jarring, and a weird way to end a record, but it was still a great song. The reason I tend to hate the Beatles is because apparently to make a Beatles song, all you need is harmonizing, "Ooh La La La's", and a fuck ton of tambourine work, which this album has a bit of, but not too much. Overall, a good record from a very influential band. The Beatles aren't in heavy rotation for me, but a few of these songs may make it onto a playlist for sure. Favourite songs: What Goes On, Run For Your Life, Norwegian Wood, I'm Looking Through You, Drive My Car, The Word Least favourite song: Girl 4/5
A lot of well-known songs, including one of the most beautiful songs in the world: In My Life. It’s interesting to listen knowing what was ahead of them. The songwriting has taken a big departure from the early doo-wop pop numbers but many of the arrangements are still rough and ready guitar band with close-harmony. Overall there isn’t a consistent sound and the quality of the songs is variable. For that reason, it isn’t an album I listen back to.
It's good. It's the Beatles. I respect what they did for music but I get bored before the albums are done. I'm just not really a huge Beatles fan I think is what it comes down to.
Beatles undisputed they are the best-just not for me. Lots of hits here. That means 4/5 to me.
It's one of those ones where I have to be harsh because of who it is. While it has the strongest opening tracks (idiots fave Drive My Car, the back to back classics with Norwegian Wood, You Won't See Me and Nowhere Man) it gets very saggy (by Beatles standards later on. Though that sag includes Michelle, In My Life and I'm Looking Through You, so, still a country mile ahead of the competition. In short, this is the last Beatles album containing any filler till the White Album. It's a Beatles 4, which would be any other bands career defining 5. And Run For Your Life is just odious. We get it John, you woman hating piece of sh!t.
Lo escuché en la bici. Hermoso
Was all for giving this 3 stars before I re-listened. There's not really a bad track on it and one or two stunners
•Performances: John and Paul are perfect match vocally in this album! Compared to the group’s first four albums, “Rubber Soul” is the Beatles in more matured period of their lives. “Drive My Car” is wonderful opener with probably the most hooky chorus in the album, “Nowhere Man” is a campy tune from John and Paul, and “Michelle” is, melodically, the most beautiful song in the record. •Production: When I read the title, I thought it was going to be something along the lines of Amy Winehouse’s type of sound, but it’s probably closer to what I hear in Tame Impala’s music: psychedelic rock music in its most primitive state. The use of the sitar in the album brings out that sound without using much effects and reverb. Score: strong 7 to a light 8
I really enjoyed this. Found it went by relatively quickly and before I knew it I’d listened to it 3 or 4 times over. Different to what I was expecting, I found it more ‘radio friendly’ than other stuff I’ve heard, so I was surprised to hear this was their first album on acid. ‘Girl’ was probably my favourite, reminded me a bit of Zorba the Greek… but actually I think most songs are strong and work well together
One of the good albums.
A natural progression of the Beatles formula, and in my opinion the first time you can hear what is to come with albums like Revolver, Sgt. Pepper, etc. It's interesting how all over this album can be quality wise. Like, there's songs like Michelle and Girl, which while being very much like older Beatles songs, feel like a deeper understanding of that style of music. You also have songs like Drive My Car and The Word that really just feel generic and boring. Finally you have songs like Norwegian Wood and In My Life that sound like what's to come more than anything. It's just a situation where for every bad song there's three great songs, but those bad songs still sour the music, leaving to be unable to grasp that five star rating. Still a must listen for that transition period, and still has some fantastic songs (Girl being in my top three Beatles songs), but every Beatles album has good songs.
For a brief time this was my favourite Beatles album. But eventually I came to realise that the Beatles best work came after Rubber. This album definitely feels like the start of something new for the Beatles. But I do think that this album gets a bit overrated in terms of where it ranks among the Beatles work. It doesn’t crack the top 5.
Ahh the Beatles middle years, in this case quite literally 1965, halfway through the bands time together. And Rubber Soul seems to be looking backwards and forwards at the same time Much of the pop sensibilities remain, the opener 'Drive My Car' is a proper Beatles pop banger. But then it dives into "Norwegian Wood" and shortly after "Nowhere Man" which are much more of a departure from what they had done before (but in the case of Nowhere Man still keeping a lot of great harmonies and la la's to keep it grounded) The fact that this came out only 2 years after Please Please me by the same group of songwriters is staggering. Its so easy to overlook just how quickly the Beatles were moving and reinventing no only themselves but pop music which I think is a key point that's not taken into account in modern Beatles parlance. I don't find myself appreciating these middle albums (By that I mean this and Revolver) quite as much as their earlier or later works and unfortunately Rubber Soul doesn't fit into my personal category of 5 being records that can have my personal stamp of approval as one of my favorites. Nor does it blow me away so much that I cant help but give it a near perfect score. Its got to be a 4 but that's doing it a disservice as well. I might have to track down Paul and Ringo and apologize.
Peress li hemm ħafna diġa miktub fuq il-Beatles bl-ingliż u niddubita li se nikontribwixxi xi ħaga ġdida jien, se nipprova niktibha bil-Malti. Album kbir, xorta għadu mhux l-aħjar tagħhom - imma qisu l-bidu ta' l-aqwa żmien ta' dawn l-artisti. Dan ir-rekord qisu b'sieq il-passat tagħhom u sieq fil-futur. 'Norwegian Wood', 'Michelle' u Nowhere Man juru ċertu ambizzjoni fil-kompożiżżjoni li ma kienetx hemm qabel, filwaqt li 'Girl', 'Drive My Car' u 'In My Life' jagħtu xeħta għall-albums ta' qabel fil-quċċata tal-kitba. Kollox ma' kollox album tajjeb, sabiħ, bilanċjat u mhux twil wisq - hawn il-Beatles qed jagħtu lemħa tal-enormitá tal-arti tagħħom imma jidru li għadhom naqa fit-triq għall-quċċata.
It's a great album with some real stand-out all-time songs. In My Life is possibly my favourite Beatles song. The content and lyricism is just superb. Deceptively simple, but so expressive and effective.
Startlingly spare.
As mentioned previously, I never listened to any Beatles albums before Sgt Peppers - but grew up on compilations. Many of my childhood favourites on this album, plus good “new” songs in between with a surprisingly folky/country flavour. Among other things, this album demonstrates how versatile they were becoming with their (already excellent) vocal harmonies.
A classic. Fave B-Cuts: Think For Yourself, What Goes On. Not cool: Run For Your Life.
Nem rossz, volt több dal is ahol tetszett a hook. 2022.12.07.
Its iconic, its timeless but its not the best Beatles album. I enjoyed it but I found it a little bit boring from time to time
As someone who has chosen not to listen to the Beatles in like 15 years this shit is pretty good. The middle is pretty forgettable, but the nostalgia factor from my parents playing this when I was a kid is strong. Excellent that “Run For Your Life” is just a threat. Best songs: Drive My Car, Norwegian Wood, You Won’t See Me, I’m Looking Through You, In My Life Best
One of my favorite Beatles albums. The transition from pop band to psychedelic rock is evident here. Many popular songs but with unique instrumentals and great Melodie’s. A lil of their wound are great and I’d say this one is top 3. 8.6/10
NICE
I don't have as much love for this one as some people but it's still a fantastic album and one of their best. Norwegian Wood, Michelle and In My Life are all tippity top
tijdloos
The first Beatles album (chronologically) that I truly love. Truly revolutionary in its time. Fav tracks: Nowhere Man, Michelle, In my life, I’m looking through you (my personal favorite) and Run for your life
The first great Beatles album. If I never hear Drive My Car, Michelle or Norwegian Wood ever again it will be too soon. And Nowhere Man? Argh! But the rest of the songs on here are playful, inventive and beautifully crafted. The harmonies here are joyful. The Word is one of many under-rated tracks here. And What Goes On may be one of Ringo's best contributions outside of his drumming. Timeless and of its time simultaneously, I love this album, despite the over-exposed songs mentioned above.

Love the Beatles
42 consecutive weeks on the UK #1... I'm guessing this is a good album. Drive My Car is a classic. Norwegian Wood is something I hadn't heard before, but it's good. The rest is classic Beatles.
The hits are obviously great (in my life, Michelle, Norwegian wood) but some of the deeper cuts don’t really interest me
Zeer tof Beatles album. Iets vrolijker van toon
Great album
