I've always appreciated Stevie but never took to a whole album as a symbol of what he was during the 70's. This might be it. Polished and slicker than the other Soul/R&B that I'm drawn to of that era. I'm taking by the mix of jazz influence, pop and social commentary he brings to this album. Mullings: is Higher Ground a perfect representation of the time or ahead of its time. Requires more listings.

Angsty, lush with iconic radio tracks. Everything I remember. And yet after listening, I streamed Viva Hate.
Classic gritty Texas blues. ZZ Top at their best.
A few very powerful tracks, but the overall the album doesn't reach me. Elements from those big tracks get over used on the lesser songs to the point being musical gimmicks.
A part of what made Johnny Cash an icon.
It's been decades since I've listened to this album in full. It was fundamental in my appreciation of folk and still holds weight for my today.
Ornate at times but with the harmonies CSN is known for. A classic debut with wonderful songs.
Embodies everything I already know but the Dead.
Nice.
A nostalgic 5
A perfect album for a Sunday.
