Reviews (page 7 of 7)

Fine, I guess. But it's unremarkable to my ears.

Mij te experimenteel en teveel noise

I can't foresee a time where I would want to listen to a double album by Primal Scream. For that reason, I'm out.

Never really loved this band.

listened to the album. Was not memorable.

this past week i have been given alternative/psychedelic rock and i'm getting a bit bored now :/ backyard science vibes

You’d think after 971 albums I’d be through with crap UK bands. Turns out I need to listen to more before I die.

Just terrible

I don't like Screamadelica at all, but at least I get that it deserves to be here for its reputation of getting the indie kids to go to raves. With this one, I just don't see the importance? They bring back a bit of psychedelic from their hippy-dippy jangle pop past, but it's all still so boring.

saw the cover and was already annoyed. and i would love to say that i stand corrected and that this was a good album but to be honest it was really quiet shit

You will scream, and not the good kind,.

no idea why this would be on the list. truly a waste of time

I tried, I really did but I hated this. It drags and it’s so uninteresting that I just turned it off

Listened on a walk. Never liked Primal Scream. They have the same problem as Muse in my mind. The band and their fans constantly talk about how deep and groundbreaking their music is but then you listen to it and it's... this album. Appropriates other genres and does it much much worse than the source and packages it as a whole new thing. Insultingly boring.

album hecho para una road movie, no me fue mucho quizas con la peli pega mas... 1/5

Not great. Complete agony, couldn’t get through it then I realised I had free will. Most exciting part was the album cover and that was pretty shit too. I’m sure if I had gone on to its completion there would be something to give me hope. ‘Out of the Void’ wasn’t terrible, but none of the early tracks enticed me to go further. And isn’t that the point of a good album; the “but wait there’s more”.

Clearly not what I usually listen to. It feels like background music, but even then, it’s not really that good. I can understand why people might like it, but it’s not for me. Medication is the only track I liked.

Boooring.

Yeah this is really not a good album so soft so the same all songs. Not even top 5,000

Primal Scream? More like Primal Snooze. REALLY boring.

I would much rather let out primal screams into the void for 50 minutes than listen to this again

Why is the intro so long, it's way too long. Just sounds boring and like a bunch of random noises. Very trippy. 0/10 stars can't even listen to the whole thing.

I've been getting some duds lately.

too much electro, not enough spirit

Didn't care for it.

It’s meh

A bad shadow of a genius band. 1/5

Dette gidder jeg ikke.

1 out of 5. I don't hate this album, but it lacks just about everything for me.

Disconnected noise

I had hopes when the album opened, but they soon faded the deeper I got. The more, umm, adventuresome tracks after a while just get more and more aggravating. In the end, super disappointed.

actively dislike

UK slop

This was hard to get through. A lot of it felt like the background music to a hacker scene in a cheesy action movie.

weird not my vibe. there was one decent song

It is an alright album if you have watched the film "Vanishing Point," which they are heavily referencing. Didn't have any favourites on the album.

At times, this album is trying to be edgy electronica like Fatboy Slim, Crystal Method, or Stabbing Westward, but just doesn't reach that energy or pedigree. At other times, it's trying to be an advanced Oasis clone and never really makes it there either. I'm not sure what the aim here was, but it's completely uneven and difficult to process.

Not really sure how to classify this, but I didn’t like it. Just a bunch of messing around with no real direction.

Back to back Primal Scream albums.

Primal trash.

not for me

This was so long

Occasional moments of interest spaced far apart.

Out of the void…not as good as Sabbath’s Into the Void

Honestly, I has some good moments, but not remarkable.

Not for me.

Listened to this whilst working at the shop this morning and it just faded into the background even on a quiet day with no distractions. Nothing for me.

Wtf NO

Very forgettable

Some context might help me understand why this was on the list, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to look it up.

Could not get through the entire album. "Star" is the only track I could listen to again. 3/10

Meh. No reason at all to be on this list. Prime example of the Brit leanings. ONE STAR

can't find it and listen to it.

Just worse Brian Jonestown Massacre, which I don't particularly like to begin with...

really boring stuff

Although I can hear some possible influences to Radiohead (possibly?), this was bad and I hated it. I wanted this to not be on the whole time it was on, which is actually quite impressive in its own right.

I am not sure what I would even consider this. It's some what of the electronic music of its era, but it's more of an experimental techno pop kind of sound. Produced well, but that'll be a no from me, dawg.

What am I listening to?

I can’t believe people listen to this, and I wish I had never had to.

In general, I like a lot of experimental music, but this feels like a failed experiment.

Maybe if I was on speed, I would like this.

The only Primal Scream song I knew before starting this project was "Movin' On Up," so I had high hopes when I reviewed Screamadelica. I wound up thinking that Screamadelica was just fine, so I'm heading into this second effort from Primal Scream with a bit more reservations. I don't really know what to expect from this album, but I'm curious to find out what's in store. Well, this is going to be a pretty brief review, because I really didn't care for this album much at all. I thought that only "Star" and "Motörhead" were the only remotely listenable songs on this album, and everything else sounded like bland electronica to me. And calling this album electronica feels a bit like a stretch, because this album didn't really follow any particular style to me. I have no problem with an album branching out and defying the boundaries of categories, but this album felt like the Jack In The Box menu: it was so full of a so many different things, that it didn't do anything particularly well. There were no hooks or melodies or even rhythms that enticed my ears, and I found myself incredibly bored by this album. A week from now, I'll probably forget about this album entirely, and that's truly a blessing. Hopefully The Stone Roses can help me expedite that forgetting.

I don’t have words. Just awful.

First listen

Pretty meh in my opinion. Pretty forgetful.

Whoever made this list has their head so far up their own ass that they cant even see they're a dipshit

I’ve never really been into Brit…pop? Is that what this is? I like Pulp and Blur ok, and those Verve singles are cool, but this just feels overproduced and unsurprising to me. This also feels like author bias, bc this album isn’t even listed by Apple as essential. No thanks.

Wow, there is definitely a lot going on here, can’t say I like any of it.

Eh, nothing special here. Won’t be back to dig thru their catalog based on this offering.

This is definitely in the "I'll pass" column for me. I heard glimpses of something interesting in a several songs but for the most part it was very bland and non-descript. For a band with such a solid name -- the music is just milquetoast.

If I was in prison and this artist’s music was pumped through some speakers I’d slowly be driven mad and try to gnaw my own arm off so I could beat myself unconscious with it. There is nothing redeemable about this album. This is the second Primal Scream album I’ve gotten and neither has made any sense to me why they’re on this list. The vocals, the music. Awful!! I just don’t get it.

The point did indeed vanish.

What a load of shite.

I fucking hate this. The first track sounded like digital Oasis with better vocals, which is as much as an accomplishment to my ears as a chef describing their food as better than dog shit. And then everything got worse. They completely lost me when they cannibalized that Can beat. I might hate this more than i hate Radiohead

I did not finish either Primal Scream album. They just do not work for me.

Langeweile in Reinkultur!

Don't know the band. Too weird for me.

My God almighty this was dull. Was begging for it to end

I released a primal scream while listening to this.

I was really looking forward to listening to this. What a disappointment! It's bloody awful.

They are called Primal Scream because that is what you are compelled to do when you hear Stuka

I'm about to unleash a primal scream after having to listen to an hour of this crap.

1. burning - 2 2. duffy - 1.5 3. kouualzki - 1.5 4. ztar - 1 5. kill - 1.5 6. void - 1.5 7. ztuka - 1.5 8. medication - 1 9. motor - 1 10. trainzpotting - 1 11. life - 1.5

What an earth is this ?

I tried for about three songs

Sorry, that 0 is not possible

terrible

Also not my vibe no cap

I like dub, ambient, and noise, but this didn't scratch the itch of any of that. Put me to sleep and not in a good way.

no thanks

only 1 song was bearable (Star). Was a tough listen overall.

Aggressively bad music. Probably the worst album so far. I save 1/5 for offensively bad music. British music as a whole doesn't really work for me and this was a disaster. Utter dogshit. Imagine making this and being satisfied with the final product.

1, and not 0 because i can´t

not my stuff.

Not sure what this was all about. Didn't sound much like Primal Scream that I know...

More noise rock. Mixed with experimental electro. Hard pass.

There were a few moments where it wasn't completely terrible, but not enough to save the 1 star.

I would rather eat Vinish washing powder than listen to this again.

Like an 80's version of The Prodigy with Sublime vibes? Fav Track: Get Duffy

Another record that sounds like a piracy ad. It is obnoxious to listen to and mostly just sounds like phoned in tracks.

The fuck is this???

This is real dumb.

This is so annoying, self-indulgent and most of all - definitely not worth being on this list. Really don't want to give it more time.

LOL that was cursed. I blast this band and their boring stale sound and I get hit back with a double down the next day. Sorry, not gonna make me like them any better.

Not for me

proper shit

Apart from the first song, I wasn't into this at all. The first few tracks made for good background music on a train journey, but not great for much else. Just druggy nonsense, not essential listening in any way. Screamadelica is a fantastic album, but I really don't think Primal Scream deserve more than that one on this list.

This album is garbage. A lot of the songs are just noise. If this is in the top 1001 I don’t get it as to why. Star is the saving Grace. Favourite song: Star Least favourite: Kawolski Album artwork: I like the cover more than the album

Stick to what you’re good at lads. Get back to some catchy indie pop/rock. 1.2

The only PS ive heard previously was screamadelica. And i really enjoyed it. So when this popped up i thought, great, this could be a good one. Sadly, i was wrong. What the fuck did i just listen too. Someone was definitely on acid or something when they wrote this. I cant think of any other way you'd enjoy it.

I thought this was lazy drivel.

This shouldn’t be here. Does this mean you’ve got the 5 other better albums on this list? What do you have like some Seether and Taproot records on here too? All the shit Suede albums after Dog Man Star?

I was looking forward to this when it came up but I really hated it. Sounds so of the time in the worst possible way. Moody boring. Could possibly sound good when high on mushrooms but I’m not willing to take that risk.

How in the god damn did this shit make it on this list.

I was only familiar with Primal Scream through their hit "Rocks". I was not a big fan of this album. To me, it sounds like a band that had way to much studio time on their hands. There were bits and pieces that I liked on here but nothing that interested me enough to listen to this again.

Jazz, rock, little bit of everything. Music is ok.

I probably judge this against Screamadelica just because I love that album. Maybe a bit unfair but this is way less "songy". Lots of instrumental sections and not many hooks. Some of the record has a real vibe of Lennon on LSD. I found it ok for a bit but the penultimate track is an 8-minute boring instrumental, and I just wanted the album to end at that point.

could i write poetry to this? n

Seems like they had no ideas of their own here. Motorhead, trainspotting, vanishing point. And a Scottish band singing about Rosa Parks, MLK, and Malcolm X- saying every brother is a star... Seems worse than anything Bono could come up with.

nah did not like that one

Not my thing

This is one of those albums where you listen to the first 2 or 3 songs, and you think to yourself "it's certainly not the best thing I've ever heard, but it's decent. Probably gonna give it 3 stars", but by the time you reach the end you get so fed up with how annoying and repetitive it is that you just decide "fuck it, 1 star". What makes this album particularly frustrating is that most of the songs start really promising, whether it's a cool guitar riff, or whatever other interesting sounds. But then it just becomes extremely repetitive and other layers get added throughout the song that are absolutely insufferable. And not to mention the fucking length, I feel like that's been a recurring theme among almost all the albums I've rated 1 or 2 stars, is that they are just so long and that length is only made to feel longer but how much I hated listening to the album.

Fake garbage music

No thanks.

First song was annoying, then kind of alright for a minute. And then the singing started and I had to skip. Second song was pretty okay, but sleepy. Third one is stupid noise. Fourth starts off promising, and then the melodica starts. And the fifth is a lot of squealing noise and random sitar. I’m gonna go ahead and call this one exhausting. They are really trying to be edgy and interesting. Just throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks. Nothing is working. None of this feels authentic, never mind innovative or necessary. It’s just a jumbled mish mash. And, ultimately, a waste of time.

Why are there so many slow, boring electronic albums on this app... Nothing redeemable.

Average at best, annoying at worst.

I liked one thing about this album…. A chorus that repeated “every brother is a star, every sister is a star!” Shout out to brother! (And of course sister!) That’s it.

BBEEEUUUUUUAAAAAHHHHH... %%%%%% %%%% = = %%C > _)' _( .' , __/ |_/\ " *. o /` \_\ \/ %`= '_ . / ) \/| .^',*. , /' /- o/ - " % '_ /\_/ < = , ^ ~ . )_o|----'| .` ' ___// (_ - (\ ///-( \' \\ b'ger

Proof of the old adage that if you throw enough monkeys at the wall...this lurches from early Floyd to (admittedly not-bad) dub. It's a mess, for sure. The pretentious packaging doesn't stop it being in the main a fairly basic Stones rip-off, polished up somewhat by some special guests of varying stature and ability. I think my patience with self-appointed 'rockstars' of Gillespie's ilk wore out in about 2005, so this was never going to end well.

through no real fault of its own I just…can’t finish listening to this

Just isn't it for me. The experimental sounds with the long instrumentals is never going to be good for me.

What the point, not very good

Shit stinks

I am not sure why anyone needs to listen to this album. Not my thing.

Besides "Trainspotting", this was horrible.

Shit was trash

I straight up dislike this Star MAYBE otherwise this is a hard pass fam

Not as bad as the Dead Kennedys but still awful. Sounded like something the emo kids on Letter Kenney would listen to

This album sounds like what fruitloops taste like.

Definitely not a great album from these guys, there were a couple of ok moments in some of the tracks, but as am album it simply doesn't work.

This album is weird.

This was an awful album. I didn't even enjoy it as background because there were so many jarring/annoying sounds throughout the album. I couldn't even finish the album because it annoyed me so much.

Before listening… I am confident when I say this is the worst cover of any album on this list. Absolutely no way I ever come across a worse one. What the hell. I really dont like the industrial-techno 90s vibe. Didn’t like it back then and it hasn’t aged well. I also don’t like 60s psychedelia, and the 90s version ain’t much better.

Not very good. Very experimental boring music, with no real stand out songs. And the cover of motorhead is awful. I quite like some of their other stuff, but this isn't for me.

Enough Primal Scream! I'm sick of it! This album was not very good. It's like a mix of fairly normal rock songs and then these instrumental/industrial bits that go on too long. What was the band going for here? Trainspotting is 6 minutes too long - like I get it you use more than 4 instruments, cool. This is the first album I seriously considered submitting this review half way through.

I don't get it

Ethereal and a little annoying to listen to tbh

Not for me clive

Misleading band name. I didn't hate this album at first, but it just kept going.

53 minutes of non songs. Cool... Not! This is bad. Another time I've questioned why it's on the list.

Very little I enjoyed on this album. Overall the first half was better than the second half. Songs like "Get Duffy" and "Star" work, but otherwise a difficult album for me to get through.

So BORING. I've heard the name of the band before but nothing beyond that. With a name like Primal Scream I was hoping that this was going to rock my face off. It didn't. It just went on and did nothing to pique my interest qt all. I don't get why this is here. Just awful. It

Sound like an imitation of Smashing Pumpkins.

I just really don't care about Primal Scream whatsoever. For some reason I just cannot seem to enjoy anything I've heard from them, there was nothing offensively bad that I disliked on this album, but even as background music at the gym it was completely boring me and I was just waiting for it to end. 1.5/5

They have a couple of songs, on other albums, that I absolutely love. Because of that I was very excited to listen to this. However, this album just plain sucked.

This kinda sucks. Might be the most 90s album yet. Everything from the 90s somehow sounds more outdated than anything from the 70s or 80s. 1 Even the coverart screams: "You wouldn't download a car" Some songs are listenable. "Motorhead" is pretty good. "Long Life" reminds me of something that could be good

Gets a bit noisy and clangy, without being interesting enough to earn it.

I hated this. It was the most bland, generic rock. The one meagre highlight was “Stuka,” but it’s not going on my highlights playlist because it still sucked. I want these 54 minutes of my life back.

Saved Prior: None Off Rip: Medication Cutting Edge: None Overall Notes: If you play Primal Scream for me and you're under the age of 40 I'm looking you dead in the eyes as I disembowel myself in front of you, forever changing your musical bond with this shite band and the trajectory of your aux life

Drie laatste nummers niet beluisterd. Twee grotendeels instrumentele albums op rij is wat veel, zeker omdat dit nogal industrieel klinkt.

I have no clue how to describe what this is but I don't like it.
