Reviews (page 10 of 14)

Ah it's pretty good

The Eagles are NOT yacht rock. And that's all I have to say about that. Hotel California is nonetheless an all-time great song apparently about California.

Excellent musicianship and songwriting, just not my style.

Est-ce que c'était pas un tout petit peu chiant en fait ?

Another not great album to cap off a week of not great albums. Only 3 stars cos of the title track.

Rating: 6/10 Hard carried by Hotel California and Life in the Fast Lane. Everything else is pretty boring and unremarkable.

Classic song(s). Sound of an era. But yeah, like my dad said to me growing up, “after 30 years of hearing the same songs every night at work, I’d be fine if I never hear them again.”

Giving some credit where due i suppose, these guys had a bunch of hits and a bunch of them are on this album

Vinyl: Yes Fav Song: New Girl in Town Notes: I get it but I'm over it.

Potentially hot take but as a whole it didn’t do everything it needed to to be one of the most celebrated albums out there

Good songs but also not my jam or vibes. Great opening few tracks but everything else was a little underwhelming.

Hotel California is so good… and the rest of the album is so mediocre.

Eagles are so great, I had never listened to this album, and im glad I did. Rating it a three, but really enjoyed the singles.

Not my cup of tea

The title track is a classic, great intro, dark lyrics and memorable solo. The rest is at times OK or sometimes, for me uninteresting, not my thing , AOR or soft rock.. whatever.. The last songs I couldn't finish them

It doesn't do much for me personally.

WELCOME TO THE HOTEL CALIFORNIA!!!!! SUCH A LOVELY PLACE!!!! SUCH A LOVELY FACE!!!! Resten av låtarna är också bra I guess, jag gillar att många av dem är som små historier man kan lyssna på.

The title track is amazing. "Life in the Fast Lane" is decent. The rest of the album is OK, but I'm surprised the album did as well as it did.

really fun album!

Pixie looks like he enjoys the first song! Me and Nata chicken are high enjoying icecream vanilla\! And we watched the Minecraft Movie today 2025, it was a really fun chaotic time, the children yearn for the mines!!!

Starts off hot with the ubiquitous title track, then shifts gears through blues rock, ballads, and country rock. They’re at their best when they hit that classic rock groove. Everything else is forgettable.

Haven’t finished but nevertheless liked it 50/50

I've heard the title track about 10,000 times, but always as background music never on a good system sitting in the sweet spot. It's an impressive performance. So I'm grateful that this exercise pushed me to do something I otherwise would not have. 3 stars

Good album, definitely not my favourite. I was probably frustrated a bit too because I signed up for this project to broaden my horizons, but I get this one as first (again, not that I don’t like it, but i’ve heard it named “greatest” and recommended everywhere) and it was underwhelming to see it once again.

hasn't aged well.

It was actually pretty solid but also forgettable. Hotel California is (too) well known and it’s a classic but no other song really stood out for me

Fav: Hotel California Least Fav: Life In The Fast Line A lil better than the other Eagles album on here, but at the end of the day it’s sadly still just the same old Eagles

Solid fun listen. I dont think i was blown away by most of the tracks, but glad i listened!

First Eagles album, already enjoyed the title track and listening to this through twice gave me 2/3 more tracks I enjoyed. I did find a few too many of the tracks a little uninspiring though. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

classic

The first side of this album is great with four very strong Top 40 hits. Turn the record over and it just (imo) peters out. I guess that's the reason I was never a huge fan of the Eagles. I always felt their output to be very inconsistent.

Hotel California - 4/5 New Kid in Town - 4/5 Life in the Fast Lane - 5/5 Wasted Time - 2/5 Wasted Time (Reprise) - excluded from rating Victim of Love - 4/5 Pretty Maids All in a Row - 2/5 Try and Love Again - 4/5 The Last Resort - 2/5 Average score: 3.4/5 (rounding down) honestly thought i'd find this a complete snoozer, i've only ever heard Hotel California and Life in the Fast Lane in the past. i was pleasantly surprised at how many tracks i did like, most were at least a 4 the album started strong, but definitely lost a lot of momentum once you reached the middle onward. Wasted Time and The Last Resort were definitely my least favorite of the songs, which likely dropped my rating significantly

The great songs are great. The title track is an all timer. But man, there aren't too many songs here and half of them really drag. Wasted time with the reprise right in the middle is a downer.

title track and fast lane are bangers… the rest is ehhh..

title track great, the rest I can take or leave

Didn’t really listen actively but some decent songs on it 7/10

Not my type of music really. But it's not bad. It's something I could listen to once in a while.

The Eagles is one of those bands thst have a great song you discover on Guitar Hero and think "man, I should listen to more of these guys", only to discover that Guitar Hero chose their one good song and everything else pales in comparison. Hotel California is a great song. Unfortunately, nothing else on the album is as interesting sonically, lyrically, or thematically. Great album cover though.

Classic yacht rock

'Hotel California' is undoubtedly one of the tracks of all time. But I'm not sure it's good enough to make up for what is an otherwise pretty bland album in my opinion. Standouts Hotel California 3/5

The Eagles are one of those bands that I feel have been pushed on me for so many years, but for some reason I never quite connect with. This album is actually very good, both as a concept album and with its individual songs - the first 4 alone are true classics. But this will never go on my mecca of albums. There is nothing that jumps out at me anymore, which would make sense considering I've heard all these songs so many times. I'll never understand the pure hatred of certain songs either. They were popular at a time for a reason. Maybe Hotel California is to some what Mr. Brightside is to others? Who knows.

Probably the best Eagles album (it's basically their greatest hits). But, it's still the Eagles.

Thoughts before listening: One of the first albums I ever owned (bought for me by my aunt when she took me to the mall) and it holds a special place in my heart. The songs range from the all-time classic title track to rockers to sappy soft rock cheese...so basically the full range of the Eagles sound. It's been a long time since I've heard this. Review: This is a classic for a reason. These hits are ubiquitous with American pop culture, and the Eagles are truly one of the most important bands this country has produced. They can also be a complete bore at times. This album came out at the end of 1976 and is the antithesis of the punk rock movement that was happening in rock music at the same time...but that doesn't mean it's bad. Despite the sentiment pushed by the Big Lebowski, the Eagles are a perfectly fine band that put out some great songs (the title track, "Life in the Fast Lane"). The guitar work on this album is especially strong. 3-stars

This was fine.

Maybe my opinion of Eagles is skewed, but I've never fully understood why they're on such a pedestal. There are some really great tracks in their discography, Life in the Fast Lane, Try and Love Again, and Hotel California being a few of those, but everything else is soooo stale. This is a super talented group of musicians, produced exceptionally well, refusing to push the letter at all. It is incredibly straight-forward pop music, and I guess that's enough sometimes. I see the novelty in this, I get why people enjoy it - I'm just not one of them. 7/10

It’s very easy to listen to and I do like a few of the songs, it does seem to lack a bit of edge though. I think it’s the vocals I’m not that into, some songs feel like karaoke

Elements of country, 3 incredible songs and the rest are competent, but nothing overwhelming

This sort of thing doesnt really excite me; however it's very accomplished, and easy to listen to. I enjoyed the harmonies, guitar, and bass. The title track and its cracking guitar work has stood the test of time.

The Eagles seem to be among the most popular bands ever in the United States, but they haven’t quite had the success (outside of this album’s title track) across the Atlantic. I guess they just seem to appeal to local FM radio stations in Kansas, or something. I don’t really associate this with California, funnily enough. None of these tracks, even the title track, do anything very spectacular, they’re more just background listening for a road trip somewhere down I-70. It’s more of a ‘famous’ album than a ‘good’ album. I also unfortunately can’t shake that the likely listeners of this are also the ones voting for a certain orange-faced buffoon. But that’s just me, nothing to do with the album. In all, this’d work on a road trip like I’ve mentioned. Only in deepest America though. Not here in Britain (and you’d probably be surprised by just how many American country albums translate their sound to the British countryside. It’s odd.)

Great easy rock/ listening album

Decent. 3/5

good 7/10 tbh

For me the Eagles will always be a greatest hits kind of band. Album starts out really strongly and finishes well. A bit of nonsense in the middle.

The highs on this album are really high. Unfortunately, most of the album feels forgettable and just okay. Overall it averages out to a bland listen with a few tracks I'll hear in the wild and think "oh yea that's a good song."

The title track has been overplayed to the point where it's hard to judge. Life in the Fast Lane is great, New Kid in Town is ok, the rest weren't bad but were a bit boring.

I really was going in with negative expectations on this one given how overplayed the title track is, but it really wasn't all that bad. Catchy songs, some good themes... Not bad. 3/5

Nice bit of Americana.

Pretty cool! A few classics (Hotel california really is good), nothing STUNNING though. Would've put 3.5 stars if it was an option

acoustic live version of hotel California song is better

Listen to most of it (was homesick with the baby yesterday) and it was very fine.

Title track is one of the best ever. Didn't care for the rest of the album.

Classic

This was probably super hip, young and fresh for Grandma and Grandpa, but its just ok for my modern music ears.

I expected to not like this that much, but I mostly enjoyed it. Probably will listen again sometime

Hotel California is popular for a reason, but it doesn't speaks to me wholly. The singles bang, victim of love verses are alright, but the chorus falters. The rest were okish but without a low light. 7/10

This shit is trash. Always has been trash, always will be trash. How about they go extinct instead of Bald Eagles? please and thanks. I ALSO ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO BURN THIS CD AND GIVE IT TO YOUR FAVORITE BOOMER FOR FREE. 0 out of 5

this album is like learning a villain's origin story and then you feel bad for them

Hotel California by Eagles is an album carried almost entirely by its iconic title track. While the song "Hotel California" is a masterpiece of storytelling, musicianship, and atmosphere, the rest of the album feels disappointingly average by comparison. It’s not that the other songs are bad, but they simply don’t reach the same level of greatness, leaving the album feeling uneven. There’s no denying that the song “Hotel California” is the star of the show. From the haunting opening acoustic riff to the legendary dual guitar solo at the end, it’s a masterclass in rock composition. The lyrics are mysterious and evocative, painting a vivid picture of a surreal, almost purgatorial place. Don Henley’s vocals carry just the right mix of detachment and longing, making it an unforgettable track. It’s one of those rare songs that transcends its genre, becoming a cultural touchstone. Musically, the album as a whole is polished and well-produced. The Eagles are undeniably talented, and their blend of rock, country, and soft rock is smooth and accessible. Tracks like “Life in the Fast Lane” have energy and attitude, and “New Kid in Town” is a pleasant listen with its warm harmonies and polished arrangement. Even the more energetic tracks, like “Life in the Fast Lane,” feel like they’re trying too hard to be edgy, without achieving the same depth or intrigue as “Hotel California.” By the time you reach the second half of the album, the songs begin to blur together, leaving little to truly grab your attention. Hotel California is an album that peaks too early. The title track is so good—so iconic—that it overshadows everything else on the record. While there are moments of solid musicianship and a few enjoyable tracks, the majority of the album feels like filler in comparison. For me, it’s hard to recommend the entire album when “Hotel California” alone delivers everything you need. It’s a must-hear track on an otherwise average album. If you’re a die-hard Eagles fan or love classic rock, you might appreciate the album more, but for me, it’s a 3.2/5 at best. Great opener, forgettable rest.

No one wants to admit it anymore because this is one of the most popular selling albums of all time by one of the most boring rock groups of all time, but it's honestly not bad at all. Hotel California the song will always be impressive and Life in the Fast Lane is a banger fuck all y'all. New Kid in Town was fun and the secret best track is actually Try to Love Again. Oh yeah fuck the Eagles for the copyright BS . 6/10 maybe almost a 7.

This album definitely made me remember how much I loved when they would play The Eagles on 106.7 Lite FM growing up. It was easy listening, something to bop along to, songs I could belt out to while driving around suburban NJ. And alas...the older version of me enjoyed this music just the same - for what it is and what it's not. Did I expect to be blown away by this album? Absolutely not. Did I find myself tapping my foot to the beat while listening and genuinely enjoying myself? You bet. I'm giving this a 3. There weren't any songs I really disliked, but in the same vein, no songs on this album will have staying power with me (and Hotel California is just too overplayed).

Love the title track. A couple of others are strong. But this is the dad rock album to rule all and I became bored by the end. 3/5

One of the best opening tracks there has ever been in my opinion. Magic from the first second to the last. Then New Kid in Town - a beautiful, brilliant, subtle song. And then the album starts to go downhill. Life in the Fast Lane is decent - good riff, good hook, but not a top Eagles song like the two tracks before it. The rest of the album I find practically soporific. Pleasant enough sometimes (Try to Love Again) and absolutely dire at others (the embarrassingly tacky orchestral reprise to Wasted Time). I know not everyone will agree but for me the real failure of the album is The Last Resort. A huge chunk of running time is dedicated to this self-regarding dirge and it just isn’t good enough to justify its place. It beats you over the head with that same stupid snippet of melody for an absolute age and the lyrics are rotten. Those two opening tracks though….

Alright - sentimental value

Yeah, The title track is obviously iconic. The whole album is filled with great songs. With Life in the Fast Lane and New Kid in town pulling the peloton ahead.

Hotel California is one of the all time classic songs. The rest of the album is pretty middle of the road. I'm going to give this 3/5 and one of those stars is solely for the title track.

The Eagles are shitty, but there are a few good songs here. "Last Resort" was surprisingly so. Too much Henley lead vocals.

Το μεγκα χιτ ,3 ωραια catchy κομματια, 4 βαρετες folk rock μπαλαντες. Ο ορισμος του mid αλμπουμ αλλα valid.

mediocre dad rock at his best. Huge L for them for sabotage american wedding by frank ocean... few songs were pretty likeable but on full album length there is also ah bunch of crap hiding.

who HASNT heard this fucking album what the hell.

The 3 piano ballads put my ass to sleep…. bitch

Some absolute classics on the album and some great guitar but the not well known songs feel a bit slow

This is funny. Of course I know the title track. One of the most famous rock songs ever. Couldn’t name a single Eagles song outside of that. Let’s see. It’s interesting that the album opens with the title track and its most famous song. It then goes into “New Kid in Town” which is also quite a hit in its own right. I have to say it drops off pretty quickly then. I mean, the songs are still fine, and the playing is great and everything, but it’s not like there are ten hidden Hotel California’s here. There isn’t even one. The title track alone is enough to merit inclusion on this list, but I wish the album tracks were stronger.

I don't see why it's so well received, but not bad either. Most songs are forgettable.

3 out of 5. Other than the hits there are some good songs on this album.

First 3 songs are bangers Wasted time and victims of love are good Pretty maids all in a row weakest song so far Try and love again good The last resort fine Another album I would actually give a 7 More consistent than led Zeppelin 4, but not the same high points Easy listening

My mom once told me that this was a great make-out album, and it ruined both the album and the song "Hotel California" for me. Regardless of it's alleged impact on my parents' sex life, this is a fairly underwhelming album. The singles off it ("Hotel California", "Life in the Fast Lane") are definitely the best part. There are a lot more slow songs than I expected on it, and they're mostly unmemorable. I generally think most Eagles songs should be on average at least 2 minutes shorter than they actually are. I don't hate it, I don't love it, it's fine.

This record reminds me of my father, who introduced me to this album, and The Eagles, at a very early age. "Hotel California", for as outplayed as it is, it's a timeless piece in music history. This is a band I typically hear played by white people that don't know anything about music, but all in all, it's not that bad of an album.

Hotel California is the fifth studio album by Eagles, originally released in 1976. Ah, the band everyone loves to hate. They're honestly not bad. Very poppy, yes. But this is not a bad album. It's produced very well and that title track is so damn catchy. Sure there may be some fluff but this album does its job in being easy listening 70s soft rock.

Nice memories...

Dad rock at its finest

I guess this is a classic but for me is a bit dull. And yes, I'm biased by the Dude.

Hotel California is still an unbelievably good song. Like really, really great. Going into this, that was the only Eagles song I really knew. The rest of this album really suffers from not being Hotel California. It's also tonally all over the place. New Kid In Town is actually quite good as well, but then there's the disco Life in the Fast Lane and the (dad) rocking Victim of Love and I don't think they make the album greater than the sum of its parts. And the largest part is undoubtedly the Hotel itself.

I didn’t hate this, but it’s the first Eagles album I’m listened to and the orchestral elements took me by surprise. Obviously there’s two or three songs I knew, and those are pretty solid. But nothing else really grabbed me and I doubt I’d listen to this again as an album.

It’s ok although not really that interesting, except for the title track. I never knew these guys are so hated among music nerds, I’m not American. I guess the hate these guys get is due to them being so popular while there’s plenty of other much better artists and I think I get that. Still it’s not that bad. A perfect 3

Classic, but I realize now is an adult that every single song is kind of sad.

Kokonaisuudessaan oikeinkin kiva albumi. Mukavata kuunneltavaa. Tykkäsin chilleistä viboista.

A hotel you can't check out of isn't a hotel, dude. That's like some other thing.

Hotel California carries this album.

It contains my favorite eagles song Pretty Maids. But outside of that just ‘classic’ Eagles *IF* you’re into them. I had heard it all before. Solid album.

It’s okay actually. Definitely a few duds but also a couple cool songs

3.3, Hotel California saves it

I can't deny that the title track, though overplayed, is a very good song and probably the highlight of the album along with 'Try and Love Again'. 'Life In The Fast Lane' is a catchy song with a really cool riff. A proper toe tapping driving song. 'Pretty Maids All In A Row' is quite a nice ballad. It's not all good though. 'Wasted Time' dragged a bit and the reprise directly after it seemed unnecessary. The next track 'Victim of Love' is thumping with its verses, but the chorus brings it down to be quite forgettable. Overall I would say that it's better than the previous Eagles album I reviewed. It's just better songwriting. But I'm still not an Eagles fan by any means.

Hotel California is one of the most overplayed songs ever, in my opinion. It is well written though. I always found something a bit lame about New Kid In Town. Not a fan of The Last Resort. I think the melody is a bit too predictable. The rest is decent.

This album has maybe 3 great songs and the rest are not even as good as the time period’s other AOR that the band was trying to emulate.

‘You can check out any time you like but you can never leave’ just makes me happy every time I hear it

The title track meant a lot to me when I was younger, like Stairway to Heaven and Comfortably Numb. Gave me all the feels. Listening to it now, I still like it but probably wouldn’t reach for it very often. The rest of the tracks are ok, I prefer the mellow ones. It has that warm sunset or early evening feel, somewhere near a beach, when I have it all.

A great start to any album and life in the fast lane a classic

equvilent to white noise, good for working too!

The titular first song Hotel California is a classic: over 1.7 *billion* streams on Spotify alone. That being said, I've never listened to the whole album, and I'm excited to do so When Life in the Fast Lane's opening riff came on, I let out an audible "Yes...". The song before, New Kid In Town, was a little slower, calmer, but when the "Wolf mother's Black Betty"-esc sorta-country riff came on, man it was good. After listening to the rest, classic album, bit slow and chill for me at the time. I got pretty bored. Pretty much exclusively held up by Life in the Fast Lane and Hotel California for me. Glad I've heard it though

Another band where I don't understand the extremity of the reactions to them. It's OK. Maybe if I'd had to hear everywhere all the time growing up I'd feel different.

Nowhere near as good as their self titled debut in my opinion, but also still mid. The only song I really resonated with and enjoyed was Try and Love again. I get the hype behind this album, but honestly I think there's better Eagles records out there. This just feels like it blew up because of the lead track (which is a banger, let's be honest here). If Eagle's debut was a 3.5, this is just a 3. Pretty generic country-dadrock.

A competently made album that just ain't for me. 5/10 Fav tracks - none really Least Fav - none really

Hotel California the song is a classic, but the rest of this album is rather unspectacular, moderately enjoyable radio-tier soft rock. I'm not feeling very eager to explore this album further than once, aside from maybe touching some more on a single someday, which is very interesting as a sentimental piece about California and perhaps the American dream, something I feel they are definitely qualified to talk about as people not originally from California. It has a rather fascinating personal tinge to it.

Great first three songs. Next two were average and bloated. Three maids in a row was great, rest of the album ok. 3 out of 5 stars

it's ok i guess

Of course the title track is a classic and pretty great - the rest is just fine.

Couple of good songs, others not so bad but a bit whiny

The first 3 songs are blistering good and the rest of it just falls by the wayside. On the second listen I had more appreciation for Victim of Love and The Last Resort.

fav track: hotel california (obv)

Classic rock. A few good songs and no real bad ones but it just started to sound too generic at the end.

Honestly not as good as I was expecting.

Getting burnout from music around this time and genre but not a bad listen. Decent vocals and the band has a political statement that’s not too cringey. Mid/10

Proper easy listen. Was happy to chuck this on in the background and get on with some bits about the house. Hotel California is a banger of a first song and the rest were okay. A fairly nice range of chill songs but wouldn't go out my way to put the album back on.

Starts of really strong with a classic. Proper dad rock. I really love the vocals with the Eagles, but my god most of the songs are just boring. 2nd half of this album is so lacklustre, it's really driven my review down, because a few songs here were really great, beautiful even. Quite disappointed, I liked it ebougb, nothing special aside from a couple of tracks. Middle of the road

Very nice album. Who doesn't like the Eagles? Easy listening is how to best describe these songs. It's the kind of album I would play if I ever got to drive along Route 66. Everyone knows the first 3 songs and that won't change for a few decades to come. Needs more than one listen to fully appreciate how good this album is...

"The Last Resort" is great, but overall too smooth and with not enough edge for me. 3.5 stars

Loved some of it, hated some of it, mostly I’m just glad it exists.

Ganska trist. Hotel California kanske skulle vara bra om den inte var sönderspelad. Lika så New Kid in Town. Pretty Maids In a Row var okej.

Decent overall, but dominating from those 'big' album tracks.

Totally fine.

The title track is (to me) one of the most overplayed songs on the planet. It's objectively good and quite catchy but how many times can you listen to it? Quite a few, it seems, for some people. Personal opinion aside, I was a bit curious to hear what else The Eagles could do. Frankly, my opinion hasn't changed much. This album is country-tinged cinematic rock and it helps to think of it like a movie. To that end, it reminded me of going to the cinema on a rainy day with nothing else to do. There's nothing in particular I want to see, but I've seen the trailer for 'Hotel California' quite a few times so I decide to give it a shot. It's a good movie, with a fairly predictable storyline and good acting. I'm not unhappy that I watched it but I'm not likely to watch again. Other people are obsessed with it, which is fine, but I don't really get why. Surely there are better movies out there. Maybe I'll try it again one day. Possibly on a long plane ride or something. The most interesting detail of this album on Wikipedia was the fact that Black Sabbath were in the recording booth next to The Eagles and frequently interrupted the recording by being too loud. I feel like that says a lot about 'Hotel California'. Full disclosure, I'd have been pretty annoyed by that too. But I've never had the illusion that I'm cool.

Déjà meilleur que leur éponyme, mais ça reste un album des Eagles : beige, sécure, aucun risque pris, rien de nouveau. S'écoute bien mais c'est grandement sur-évalué. 6/10

Try and love again has some nice harmonies. Other than that, it’s okay. Not my thing.

This is the most overrated album by the most overrated band of all time. What do people see in this? It’s just boring rock music, real boring. It makes me feel bad for people who think this is as good as it gets.

Lots of baggage here. And a lot clever people quoting Lebowski. Try getting your own opinion. If I had to listen to the Smiths, you can listen to the Eagles. Typical 70s MOR easy listening, and MILES better than Fleetwood fucking Mac. There, I said it. Eagles were robbed in '76. I stand by it. So it gets at least a three for that. Can it get one more star for those hits? I'll think about that for a minute... I like it, but I don't think I'd pay for it. That's an easy three.

Stupendous album, rich americana and folk influence, with soft clean guitar melodies and wonderful rythmn and low end sections. I don't know if its the drugs or the member infighting but a lot of this album is forgettable filler. Despite what I said in the previous paragraph. No one ever talks about "New Kid in Town" from this album. The Eagles are a greatest hits band for sure. Tough pill to swallow. But, I still dug the albo.

I won't pretend that the title track or "Life in the Fast Lane" are my favorite songs ever, or even that I ever have the urge to put them on, but I do enjoy them well enough when they're playing. Combined with the overall inoffensiveness of most of the album, they're enough to not sink it below 3 stars. But I just...don't care. It's honestly funny to me that people have such strong opinions about this band, positively or negatively, in the first place. Perhaps this is my privilege talking as a child of the 90's who didn't need to deal with their onslaught of fame in the 70's. Anyway...it's fine. 3/5

first time listening have heard hotel california life in the fast lane

Man, I tolerate The Eagles

It's easygoing and laid-back, like listening to Fleetwood Mac but with a bit more grit. The guitars sound nice, and the songs tell stories without getting too deep. Some tracks kind of blend together, but it keeps a chill vibe. It's not groundbreaking, but it feels good to have on in the background.

I would like to leave now.

I checked out

While I'm not a big fan of the Eagles. This album contains some iconic songs. It's fun to listen to it occasionally but it's not one of my go-to albums. It's ok.

Levyn ykköshitillä enemmän kuuntelukertoja kolme kertaa enemmän kuin muulla levyllä yhteensä. Onhan tuo iso hitti, mutta löytyy tuolta pari muutakin hyvää biisiä. Levyn taso kyllä laskee edetessä, mutta varsin viihdyttävä setti kokonaisuudessaan. Reilu 3*

The title track is eaaasily the best song here, and there isn't really anything special on the rest of the album. Despite that I did quite enjoy listening to this, maybe because I already knew some of the tracks, or because the tracks made for a pretty cohesive whole. Kinda undecided whether it's a 3 or a 4, so I'll say 3,49 and round down.

Ooof. I was super open to the possibilty of discovering something here, as I had never heard the album, only the one song - which, I mean, a terribly overplayed but righteous classic - and "Living in the Fast Lane", but I'm now at "Try and Love Again" and by god, has this veered into Music To Turn the Car Radio Off To. However, it was endurable enough so I will grant an extra point for making me look up - I am today years old - what colitas actually are.

This was sappier than I was expecting.

Very generous 3 due to Hotel California.

relaxing, probably not the best working music. Reminds me of grandpa. Best song was victim of love. Everything else was pretty low key.

An all time classic song filled out with classic rock by the numbers to complete the album.

Fame and fortune, life, love and drugs in L.A.

Not a bad album, not terribly great either.

Hotel California is a 5 star song, but the rest of the album is forgettable. I didn’t mind listening, but I don’t think it holds up to a lot of the 4 star albums from the list. 3 stars it is!

I’d use the success of The Eagles as vital evidence that most people in the world are idiots. So middle of the road it’s hard to have any opinion on it 2.5

Some iconic tracks, good vibes songwriting, beautiful production but occasionally schmaltzy. Didnt hear enough in the songs that werent hits to really make me want to come back, but I would never object to anyone playing this.

You can checkout any time you like, but you can never leeeeaaaaaavvveeeeeeeeee

Other than Hotel. California, and a few other tracks, i just couldnt get with this album. Sort of felt out of place, like it was confused on the sort of music it wanted to be. 2.6

Rather short album that is a bit more than just Hotel California. 6/10

When your uncle says that music is not what it used to be anymore.

The most easy of easy listening. The only hard part is staying awake. Still, I can't in good conscience give it lower than 3 because it's well produced and those solos at the end of Hotel California are still so slick.

I prefer Hilton

3 good songs and boredom after those.

The song 'Hotel California' is a personal favorite and really the only great song in the album. Most go on too long with bland lyrics. A couple are ok, but nothing worth relistening.

Hotel California Amazing. Loved the intro and the riff of Life in the Fast Line. Victim of Love: iconic

Hotel California ist ein Riesensong und strahlt weit über das Album. Auch New Kid in Town ist ein Klassiker, der Rest kann man anhören aber ist nichts zum Erinnern.

No strong feelings

Some classic songs

Another musical masterpiece ruined by FM radio playing it to death. It is musically and technically brilliant but WAY over played.

I don't even know what to say... it had a unique 70s vibe that I couldn't hear from any other album, but it was such a drab aspect of 70s music. I think some of the songs were nice, and some of the others were really annoying, boring, and just plain dull. And 'Life in the Fast Lane' is one of the most annoying songs to have ever hit my eardrums. God how I want it to disappear off the face of the Earth.

maybe would give this a 4 but i didn’t listen to the whole thing

I hate the fuckin Eagles man! Honestly, they aren't all that bad - the title track is obviously amazing. Life in the Fast Lane is kinda dull and the rest is fine music. The title track bumps it up another star just for that closing harmonizing of guitars.

Some absolute classics, but for the most part the tempo is too low for me to thoroughly enjoy. Nice background music, but doesn't have the special feeling like 'Hotel California' gives you across the whole album

Def not one of my fav, their first album was far superior and very original.

pretty good best song ‘try and love again’ might revisit

Title track is a classic but I honestly found it all quite boring. Nothing caught my ear

It was pretty crappy and exactly what I expected but the instruments and background music was good which gives a few extra points. It was a mix of like upbeat and also sad which is kinda weird but it was meh.

Nothing bad to say, only negative is that it generally feels a bit middle dated. Undoubtedly in a few years it will come back around and seemingly age gracefully, just the current tastes place it in a different spot.

Classic. All solid tunes with a couple standouts. Not overly interesting though. "THE" Pop Rock band?

Meh. The title track is a legitimately good song, but the rest of the album (including the two other songs I had heard before) can't hold a candle to it. This is the sort of thing I thought I would like, but I will stick to the one good song for now. The intro to Victim of Love is a bop though.

- high quality vibes - exactly what I want to listen to on a warm summer night

Well of course Hotel California (the song) is a classic. Dope guitar solo yada yada etc it's a classic song. The next few tracks also stand out to me, I like them quite a lot. But after Wasted Time I sort of lost interest a little. But overall a good album, would listen to again. Fav songs: - Hotel California - New Kid in Town - Life in the Fast Lane - Wasted Time

Parhaat: Hotel California, Life In The Fast Lane

They really caught lightening in a bottle with Hotel California. This album struggles to follow its namesake and opener. Still, though, the eagles maintain tight grooves and perfect harmonies. I especially liked “Try and Love Again”, a personal thing to write about that is no doubt hard to do. Could have done without send off of The Last Resort. 3 stars.

Classic dad rock

underwhelming corporate rock. I have never listened to the full album before and likely won't again. the title track is good, but overexposed at this point.

5/10 For the title track, you get 3 stars. Now put down your mics and leave my office before I change my mind. 5-27-2024

Decent but this is all 9.71 the river played growing up

If you know, you know. It's perceived as a classic.

I used to hate The Eagles but in the dotage of my thirties I am coming around on them. The Eagles are the crisp light beer of rock. Pleasant enough, and that’s what most people are probably looking for in music. I don’t love it but I’m glad this album makes people happy.

Strong opening 3 songs.

One of the best sounding records I've ever heard. But it's just that. I just don't like the crying rockerman ballads. Sorry dads

it was fine. i dunno. i've heard the eagles like a million times and they're kinda boring to me. however i can see why such an album might be considered important or some shit.

- New Kid in Town, Life in The Fast Lane, Victim of Love dafür aber bockstarke Songs und richtige Banger.

A couple of the biggest songs in rock history, but they’re so overplayed they almost blot out the rest of the album. It’s hard to check in when the lobby soundtrack’s been looping since 1976.

I mean, not offensive, tap your foot, etc. Do not rate in the top ever though.

I was hoping for more depth and different sounds. I love Hotel California but the rest was just music. Good for the background, but nothing that would headline a playlist.

It’s honestly just boring country rock, although, title song is so good it drags it up to a 3

A lot of people have strong feelings about this band. I do not. This is fine.

nothing comes close to the title track

It was nice to listen to a whole album. Lovely voices, I can see why they have so many fans.

Though I'm definitely NOT an Eagles fan, on Hotel California they moved away from their flat, bland country-rock sound and made a rock record that is the only Eagle's album I can listen to. It opens with three staple songs on classic rock radio rotation including the always insufferable, title track, Hotle California, New Kid In Town, recalls their earlier country-ish sound and Life In The Fast Lane, the satisfying rocker. The remainder of the album edges towards schmaltzy and MOR mediocrity, that was the blueprint for the rest of the Eagles discography, but it remains (in my opinion) their finest moment, if there ever was one. I never bought into the whole Eagles thing and I would certainly not waste my money seeing these over-the-hill "rockers" live.

There’s no denying The Eagles wrote some great songs. There’s also no denying they wrote some average songs, and there’s also some of those here. Lastly, there’s no denying that Henley and Frey are greedy pricks and I should bump them down on the sole basis of karma. 3/5 you insufferable pricks.

Overrated band playing overrated music.

A classic

who can hate the Eagles?

meer country dan ik had verwacht

6/10. Not my favorite. Mostly pretty basic. I did put the title song on the 5 ⭐️ list though. It deserves that for sure.

Absolute classic and I agree that this should be on here. Doesn't mean it's a great record in my book. Aside from the title track and maybe "Life in the fast lane" there is a lot of boring filler tracks and while the musicianship is impressive it is definitely missing some sort of edge to make it interesting instead of just smooth and bland.

The best part about the Eagles is, that every time I hear/read their name, I imagine JD from Scrubs going "Eagleeee!". The second-best part (with still considerable room in between) is probably this album.

I can't tell if I love or hate this album. Hotel California is an iconic song that you would think sets the tone for the album. It doesn't. Instead, the album focuses back on chill Cali-country rock. I was left disappointed at first, but ended up enjoying a handful of songs at the end. While I don't this this album did anything revolutionary, it accurately reflects popular music of the 70s. Best Songs: Hotel California, Wasted Time, Try and Love Again Worst Songs: Pretty Maids All in a Row, Try and Love Again

Coole Songs, vielseitig, bleibt aber nicht wirklich immer im Kopf

Solid singles, but their albums are a bit snoozy. "Hotel California" is no exception (and perhaps even a bit moreso than others -- "One of These Nights" I return to far more often). I suppose that's a big reason why their GH is so zenith-selling...

Hotel California is great, but after that I don't know there were too many other songs that I was into.

“Ugh”, I reacted to seeing this album as today’s selection. Yeah, there’s some decent songs on here, but for me this is one of those bands that has been played to death. Random factoid: I read somewhere that at their peak there was a 12 or 18 month span where they were selling over a million albums a month.

Slick, easy listening. I sometimes think The Eagles unfairly get shit on. Sure, they’re not doing anything exciting or innovative, but they were one of the best at what they did do and made some songs that I like. Hotel California is played out, like a lot of their songs. I think they’re a 3 band that made a 3 album. If other people love it, that’s cool.

This album is very safe, and takes hardly any risks. While there is nothing inherently wrong with that, it can feel a bit boring. It's pleasant, and makes for good background music, but nothing here is mind blowing.

Hotel California is my #1 all-time song. The rest of the album is okay. I feel like it should be better.

Pop country rock. Pretty mixed feelings about this album. I liked the big songs I already knew and then one or two others, but everything else just didn't do anything for me. Like I recognize the talents behind the songs, good singing/harmonies, great guitar work, etc. However, I didn't really get anything out of them. Especially the ballads, my god we're they boring. I wish I liked it more, but for a first listen I was not impressed. Might revisit some songs. 3/5

I didn't enjoy this as much as I thought I would. The title track is a banger, the following 2 tracks are solid. The rest however, well the best word I can think to describe them is bland.

I know most of these songs well, but I have to admit listening in one sitting to this album diminished my enjoyment. Title track is wonderful of course and the dreamy New Kid in Town recording sounds perfect. What kind of studio was that recorded in? Surprise surprise Greatest Hits is better.

Decent album. Love Hotel California and like New Kid in Town.

Iconic couple of songs. The rest of the album didn't really do anything for me.

A couple of these songs are all time classics, a couple are absolutely boring as hell. Overall worth a listen, but generally overrated.

Hotel California

Well known big hits and very grown up adult rock. Highly polished and slickly produced but the sound is a bit too.country influenced at times for my taste. Meh x

It's OK. Hotel California is great, but a lot of rock that's just a little too standard, slick, and polished for my liking. Better than I thought, last song and 2nd song kind of heat. Should you listen to this album before you die: Maybe

I'm a bit shocked that this album is featured so highly on Top 100 albums of all time lists. Hotel California, the obvious standout single, is the saving grace of the album and the rest of the album is a little lacklustre for me. The Last Resort at the end is quite good, but the album never reaches very interesting heights for me. 3/5, saved by HC.

While the Eagles are one of the best selling bands of all time, it's notable that they aren't really loved by the younger generations. Certainly not at all the way Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin or of course The Beatles are They do almost everything very well; they all are very strong instrumentalists, the harmonies are on point, they have good musical chemistry and occasionally can churn out a strong lyric. Morever if the rest of the album was as strong as the first two songs the album would merit a really high rating, but the album decreases in quality (mostly songwritingwise) after that. And exposes the fact that The Eagles can be cheesy and boring at times. Still "New kid in town" and particularly Hotel California are fantastic songs fully deserving of being classics. Try and love are alright as well. Would give it 3.5 stars , because the album starts out so strong. But can't bring myself to give it 4

Typical Eagles album, has some good singles

Very inconsistent for me, goes right in the middle overall. 'Hotel California' is great, a truly classic song, 'Life in a Fast Lane' and 'Victim of Love' are the other highlights for me, but the rest of the album is unfortunately not too strong.

better than i expected, but i probably won’t come back to it that often 3.5

Title song is great, the rest is pretty enjoyable. 3.5

Mostly overrated !

A few classic gems mixed in with some real bad songs.

Sweet, soft country rock. Easy to see how it's one of the biggest selling albums of all time, in all it's unchallenging, safe, inoffensive and well made glory. Rating: 3.5/5 Playlist track: Hotel California Date listened: 07/03/24

not something i'll revisit anytime soon, but it's a classic and I enjoyed it

It was fine but just relatively uneventful. Did not grab me since I have listened to it so much since my teen years.

Eagles(NFL) suck. The band is ok, solid album

Not a huge fan of the song itself but I did enjoy a few other tracks in this album!

I dont like Queen

This one reminds me of my childhood. Hotel California will never get old.

Iconic title track, plus Life in the Fast Lane.

Hotel California is a great song obviously, and the album starts off quite strong but then it gets just more boring, overproduced middle-of-the-road rock. I'm a bit disappointed considering how famous this album it. The Last Resort is a good ending, though so I'll give it a 3.

Title track is so good they've never were able to reach that level again. Rest of the album is some decent but forgettable classic rock, lost resort is another highlight, however the lyrics aren't as profound or clever as they think they are

First song slams! Rest of The songs kind if dissapoints. 3

Disappointed. I had high hopes for this one, since I’ve never actually listened to the whole album. It started out strong, obviously, with the title track, “new kid in town,” and “life in the fast lane.” But then it just turns into sappy, overproduced, hallmark card ballads. Great harmonies, yes, but it’s simply too shiny. The album starts with these themes of fame and the perils/vices of stardom. Then they suddenly abandon those themes halfway through. I see now why the Eagles “Greatest Hits” compilation sold more than any of their albums.

Is wasted time on here twice? Talk about wasted time am I rite The album? Pretty good. Couple snoozers but hotel California is fire

I've listened to the When Hell Freezes Over a few times before, and I would recommend that album over this one. The live version of songs helps them sound even better for whatever reason.

A solid three stars

it's like a bi-polar album, alternating between rockin hits and Michael Bolton type fluff. Hotel California - rocking New kid in Town - fluff Life in the fast lane - rocking wasted time - fluff victim of love - rocking rest of album - fluff

Redelijk saai sorry

yep, its the eagles.

Really wanted to like this because I found the first two songs pretty great. Unfortunately it didn’t last

Joe Walsh is so fucking good at guitar. Obviously Hotel California is great, but Life in the Fast Lane (it’s the bass grove for me) is the GOAT track of the record. That Wasted Time string arrangement is sick, considering the song sucks otherwise. Half the album is killer, half is filler. It’s the Eagles, you get great harmonies and some solid easy-rock tunes. Probably a 1/10 on the booty-shakability standard and a 6/10 on the CORN scale.

It's well made but I could take it or leave it

Overplayed, overrated.

More melodic than expected

Genuinely don't enjoy them too much, some good songs here though

Nothing really jumps out, aside from the singles. Standout Tracks: Hotel California, Life in the Fast Lane

It's too perfect. It's boring for the most part with a few highlights. The lead guitars on the title track are amazing and my favorite song off the album: life in the fast lane.

Good music. Probably wouldnt go out of my way to listen to again, but I get the appeal. Favorite song was Try and Love again.

Not much of an Eagles fan. Hotel Californianis a good song ut I’ve heard it 8 trillion times. New Kid in Town is ok but Life In The Fast Lane irritates the hell out of me .

Outside of like 2 songs, not sure what makes this album stand out more than others to be considered in the top 1001... I was disappointed

life in fast line, victom of love

Give me a break.

Turns out Eagles have better songs than Hotel California.

Given that the title track has 1.5 billion plays on Spotify this record definitely deserves to be on the list, but overall I didn't love it. Good vocal harmonies, and the music is fine, but nothing else really stood out to me.

Another album that I would enjoy more if it was instrumental, or maybe a singer other than Don Henley, perhaps.

Classic

I know it’s iconic and it’s a nice enough listen. But it’s maybe just a bit too middle of the road nice for me.

The title track is a great piece of art and probably among one of the best rock songs. I didn't care for the other tracks.

I don't think this is one of the best albums by The Eagles, but it is a good listen. Does seem to fade with the middle tracks. Do appreciate the way they can tell a story with lyrics-like The Last Resort.

I will always have nostalgia for these guys since my dad loved them. He always played their greatest hits/hell freezes over. Otherwise, this is some nice/easy breezy soft rock with good singing.

Great album, standard.

Tough one. They're great songs, they just don't grab me too much. I supposed it's telling that I had this in my collection and sold it. 3.5 stars.
