-1 for cultural appropriation
Pretty typical late Elvis album.
Elvis is undeniably good, I don't know if I would listen to him in a album form or singles though. Maybe that's a strange opinion but I feel like some songs flow better in albums while others are better as singles. It could come down to diversity in songs, some songs are very different from each track while others are like the same type. More diversity makes a better album. Good album, didn't sound like a live album at all
Its fine....its Elvis. I am not a fan of Elvis and his voice. Now I am sure if I was a teenage girl in the 50's I would have screamed, yelled and fainted at the site of his hips and the crooning of this voice. But today, having all sorts of music in my past his voice actually annoys me. There are some really pretty songs and ones that connect with my rural background (true love on a gravel road) but his voice just drags to me. The songs on this also weren't that different to me, they were more traditional rock country. But maybe they weren't then....maybe I would be throwing my panties on stage for him back in the day because it was new and made my heart (and other parts) be all a flutter. But today I give it a 3...
Meh. Elvis is overrated.
ok but old
Well, it's Rick and Morty Time!
65/100.
I love Elvis, but I wasn’t crazy for this album.
Fav: Gentle On My Mind Least Fav: Power Of My Love I’ll give him this, he came a long way from his debut
Nice
I am certainly no fan of Elvis Presley. I like some of his songs and don't like a lot of his songs. This album I found surprisingly good, although I wouldn't necessary listen to it again.
I don’t think this is his best work. It was fine. I can see how influential it was and it’s a decent listen.
You can tell this is later end of his career Elvis because the drum break style drumming pattern on the opening song practically hadn’t been invented or adapted by non-black musicians just yet. Then you can hear the late-stage Elvis in the grandiose, sparkly, belty, sweaty delivery of “Only The Strong Survive”. His voice has seen some miles, as evidenced by the breathy, hefty sound of “I’ll Hold You In My Heart”. I could go on and on about how past-his-peak Elvis sounds on each song. I’m just not sure all of it is a bad thing. “Gentle On My Mind” gave me a psychosis of WHO WROTE THIS SONG FIRST - and who did it best? This version is good, not the best, but good. “In the Ghetto” is the obvious highlight here, a serious tone shift with a nice instrumental. If you haven’t heard “Suspicious Minds” by now I don’t know what you’re doing. The highs are high and the lows are pretty dull. 3/5
Pleasant listen but not spectacular.
It is just fine
It’s a really good album, I’d listen to it casually. Never listened to much Elvis, but it’s hard to dislike him.
• 3/5 • slick production and an impressive artistic shift/reinvention for Elvis • I like the country soul sound, but none of the songs really stick; if Suspicious Minds had made the album instead of being released as a separate single, it would be a solid 4+
My favorite Elvis songs but you can hear why he became what he did
Man out of time. But solid outing in terms of what I would expect a post rock and roll Elvis album to sound like
Some tried and true grand slam bangers mixed with a bunch of non-songs.
I like a bit of Elvis - but not slow country Elvis with his nasal vocal vibrations chomping on every syllable. Love Suspicious Minds and In the Ghetto - but everything else borders between meh and annoying.
3.5/5 high energy first half of classic Elvis ballads before the back half of album has a brilliant stretch from In The Ghetto through to Kentucky Rain that lifts the album
This is okay, nothing special. Most songs sound similar. I think Elvis is a bit overrated. He sounds like a howling dog sometimes. Such a strong vibrato. Good rhythm though, soulful instrumentals.
Not bad actually, I’ve never been much of an Elvis and this is the first album of his that I’ve ever listened to…didn’t hate it! Weirdly I noticed how much Cher sounds like Elvis as one of my initial thoughts, but once I got over that I enjoyed the songs. Pretty inoffensive, mostly just washed over me but “In the Ghetto” and “ Suspicious Minds” were clear standouts…maybe because I’ve heard them before but who knows? Overall, some great arrangements, killer voice but not one I’d go back to regularly but wouldn’t hate it if it was on
Good album. I’m not really a fan of Elvis, but this was rnjoyable.
I imagine listening to Elvis feels like watching pre-integration baseball, you kind of have to grade it on a curve knowing most of the talent wasn’t really allowed to play. Still, it had its moments
Pretty rad dose of hillbilly rock. “In the Ghetto” and “Suspicious Minds” are stone cold classics. Also a lot more range here than earlier Elvis stuff.
I recognized a couple of tracks off the rip, but most weren't singles I had heard before. It had that expected Elvis sound throughout, which isn't too surprising when it was this 9th studio album. If anything, I was most shocked by the mix balance, where I assumed Elvis would always feel front and center, but he generally was woven into the sound at the same level. For example, while in my car it was a struggle to hear him over the sound of the drums on several tracks or he would blend into the chorus behind him on others, which for a single artist's work, is a little strange.
Elvis fücking presley Ganz andere sound als ich erwarted han. Vill ruhiger und weniger sex rock and röck n röll. Darum schiki 3 überraschti böötlis de missisippiabe direkt uf memphis.
3/5. Great voice, but the songs don’t really do it for me. I recognize the phenomena, but I don’t share it.
Well my first Elvis album and it was pretty good! But I mean it's Elvis come on! And a live album ballsy lol no it was pretty good
The man didn’t have a bad voice and was an influential performer. Not so much a creative force
It's Elvis, just like all the other Elvis. Fave: Gentle on my mind.
Suspicious minds on this album - best song
Difficile pour moi de connecter avec Elvis. Je trouve son interprétation affectée et surannée. Mais j'aime la chanson Suspicious Minds.
It's not Rock Rebel Elvis, it's like Lounge Country Elvis. The couple of hits are hits for a reason, but the rest of it just falls flat. I don't really need that much schmaltz in 60 minutes.
I feel like at a certain point all his music blends together. Doesn’t mean it’s bad but he made so many albums it’s hard to be in love with every single one.
Not a bad album, but several songs sound the same. The songs are also short in general (less than 3 minutes) and they could benefit for being longer because the instrumental part is really great.
Hell, it's the king so it can't be bad. His voice was still strong too. But with the exception of "In the Ghetto" their weren't any standout tracks for me, and tbh this version of that song wasn't the best I've heard.
Topp artist med ein fantastisk stemme. Melodiene variere i kvalitet, kanskje på grunn av bandet. Men et bra album over snittet
Ikonisk vokalist og kvalitets musikere, men musikken gir meg ikke så mye. In the ghetto skiller seg ut som den klart beste. Melodiøse basslinjer på enkelte sanger trekker opp. At samtlige sanger fades ut, trekker ned.
It's Elvis, so it's exactly what you expect. Not my cup of tea but it's fine, an easy listen with a couple of bangers coming in the shape of Suspicious Minds and In The Ghetto (although Cartman sings it better). Would be a 2-star album if not for those two tracks.
Really enjoyed some of the more upbeat songs. Great band and bass sound. A bit dated overall though.
Good classic Elvis, a more soulful toned down later Elvis album.
Lots of this feels very 'by numbers' to a modern ear, but then there are some odd charmers like 'In the Ghetto'
Really struggle to like Elvis, I know he’s a product of his time but I found the lyrics quite repetitive and they didn’t entertain or grab me emotionally. Excellent performances from everyone, and lush production, but didn’t move me.
на любителя.
I like some songs that I heard from this era of Elvis like Suspicious Minds and Polk Salad Anne. This album was pretty good. I like the use of organ and choirs. The guitars are really twangy the drums are stopping. It's pretty swampy when it's rocking. Like the first song and "I'm Movin' On"
I didn’t think this was too bad, and As I have already mentioned, I am not much of an Elvis fan. Although I found some of these arrangements a little cheesy, I generally enjoyed this album. In the Ghetto is one of his better songs. This one is 3 stars for me, but I won’t need to hear it again.
Country crooning legend Fave song: Gentle on my Mind
I didn’t have many feelings about this. Suspicious Minds is good.
Bon album même si je me suis pas pris de claque, j'ai apprécié quelque son par ci par la mais l'album en entier est mid
Liked this more than I ever would have imagined. Much better than "Elvis is Back!" which this generator previously gave me. Songwriting is much stronger and the country influences work great. Still not fully on board, but certainly an enjoyable listen.
When Elvis belts on this it’s awesome. His voice really sounds great on here. When he’s mad and miserable sounding it’s fantastic. The problem is all the other bland typical crooner stuff
Eric Cartman had the best version of "In the Ghetto." 3/5
Great production with the well known hit "In The Ghetto". (Rated the original release without the other hit "Suspicious Minds".)
People listen to Elvis for Elvis, not the band. The music was a little I inspired. The album as a whole was a little homogenous, but a couple stars.
Good
7/10
h: suspicious minds c: long black limousine
Elvis had that charisma and presence. his 1st album is much more surprising but this one feels good
All the negative buzz about Elvis aside, which could become its own LONG tangent and that it did affect my thought on his music up until recently. Its interesting to finally listen to one of his albums and realize that there really is a genuinely solid album with great singing, backing vocals and playing instead of purely singles mashed together. It's not reinventing the wheel but I can see why he was so beloved by so many.
ITs ok, but not my jam
There are a few gems on this record, but it has more to do with the songwriting and the band more than the singer. The schtick is thick with this guy.
Mid
Only rating this high because it’s Elvis, but not much feeling going on here, like he’s phoning it in
Heart says more but, sorry Elvis, head says 3. Apart from the 2 obvious great tracks, the rest is big production average country.
Not a bad Elvis Album
I don’t think I’ve ever actually sat down and listened to an Elvis album start to finish before, but I do know a fair number of his songs pretty well. I’ve always found it very interesting that he was the original artist that the looney-tunes Baptist Christians considered to be satanic and evil, which is impressive considering how devout in his faith he was. As far as this album goes, there’s a ton of classic country standards performed in a very soulful style. Honestly that’s not what I expected at all coming into this record. Everything musically is well done here, instrumentally it’s nothing groundbreaking or exciting, but it’s well done. My main gripe with this album is just how cheesy the vocals are, especially on songs that I really love when they’re performed by other artists. Songs like “I’m Movin’ On” and “Gentle On My Mind”. I understand why people enjoy these covers, but they just don’t work for me. I think Elvis’s cocky timbre is far better suited for his earlier rock n roll style, and I will continue to prefer that. 2.5 stars rounded up, I suppose.
Pleasant, but not that interesting.
One that is already in my collection.... a good re-listen today (a couple of the songs seem a bit dated. #Musicsky #Albumsky 3/5 Day 30
This album doesn't exude as much "king of rock and roll" as other albums, but I found this okay.
I've never not known Elvis as a meme, so it was nice to take this in. He obviously has talent, and there were some jams, but it didn't really do much for me beyond that.
Long Black Limousine is a pretty good song. Lots going on here from soul to blues to jazzy to more crooner stuff. Harmonica, trumpet, a bit of everything. Pretty good album musically aside from Elvis vocals which I'm not a fan of. 3 leaning towards a 2.
Elvis had the voice, the looks and the charisma so it would probably feel unfair if he’d also been blessed with a great sense of quality control. This album veers all the way from the sublime to borderline self-parody.
Extremely dated but that's obvious. Other than that it's fine
I thought I knew a lot of Elvis‘s catalog. Seeing an album of songs, I didn’t recognize seemed interesting at first. But man, this album just feels so uninspired. Suspicious Minds is obviously the highlight of the album and probably the only song worth listening to more than once, I will definitely give other Elvis albums a chance, but I think once was enough for this album
3/5 I like this more than his debut and early work in general. I prefer the more upbeat songs on here the most - the country songs are not my jam
I was upset when I listened to earlier Elvis when he just stole black music. This isn't that, but it also sounds quaint in a way that doesn't do much for me. When it rocks and rolls, it works better, but a lot of this is just too slow. Also, we all know Elvis knew absolutely nothing about living in the ghetto.
At the start I was really enjoying it and the more it went on the more I felt like it was a parody of elvis like an impersonator did an elvis album
Tight
It do be swinging.
The king himself, waren schon ein paar Klassiker dabei
78% Best: Wearin’ That Loved On Look; I’m Movin’ On; Power of My Love; Gentle On My Mind Must-Hear? I don’t like Elvis usually, but this album is probably his best. If there’s one Elvis album you must hear, it’s this one. That being said, in the grand scheme of things, it is not a must-hear.
Not a huge Elvis fan, but appreciate him
This was Gentle On My Mind.
Classic
Decent
Classic
Everytime Elvis pops up in here I think I'm going to love it and everytime, I am disappointed.
Background music.
No matter how hard I try, a lot of Elvis just doesn’t click. Except the comeback album.
It was good. Nothing ground breaking. Suspicious Minds is an earworm tho.
i can't believe he was really in memphis
Not my fave Elvis album, but easy listening. I'll hold you in my heart was my fave
Don't think I've listened to Elvis outside of his greatest hits album and a few of the soundtrack ones from the movie. This was a lote more groovy than I expected. I guess he just liked making snazzy songs. Faves: Wearin That Loved On Look I'm Movin' On Power of My Love After Loving You Any Day Now Suspicious Minds
Some of the lyrics are funny true love travels on a gravel road It keeps right on a-hurtin: The pillow where you lay your head Now holds my empty dreams instead Don't Cry Daddy lyric: voice inside my coffee cup Big hits on here: Suspicious Minds, Gentle on my Mind In the Ghetto (did not age well)
Most of the songs were listenable with the exception of 2-3 songa that werw really good. Not really much to say other than it was ok. The bonus track version of suspicious minds here is amazing. About a 6/10.
I'm not a big Elvis fan, but I did enjoy this album. Very country throughout on this one, for sure.
Three stars mostly because of "Suspicious Minds".
not a huge Elvis fan but has some really nice songs on there
A few good numbers but it didn't age well.
Wearin’That Loved On Look: 3/5 - not bad, but also not memorable Only the Strong Survive: 2.5/5 - a bit boring I’ll Hold You In My Heart (Till I Can Hold You In My Arms): 2/5 - lack of strong moments, monotonne Long Black Limousine: 3.25/5 - intro sounds like a christmas carol, but I like it It Keeps Right On A-Hurtin’: 3/5 - simple and nice to listen I’m Movin’ On: 3.25/5 - I like the guitar riffs Power of My Love: 3.5/5 - strong vocals and saxophone make this song Gentle On My Mind: 3.5/5 - I like how the story in lyrics evolves along with the song After Loving You: 2.5/5 - well written lyrics but the melody is boring True Love Travels On a Gravel Road: 3/5 - great storytelling job Any Day Now: 3.5/5 - a lot happens, perfect for ‚feeling good’ playlist In the Ghetto: 3/5 - classic, but the melody is a bit repetitive for me Suspisious Minds: 4/5 - absolute favourite Don’t Cry Daddy: 3/5 - terribly sad Kentucky Rain: 3.75/5 - my 2nd place, elvis is so good in storytelling Mama Liked the Roses: 2.75/5 - beautiful ballad, but I will not remember it Overall rating: 3.09/5
I have been hoping for an Elvis album, just because I haven't really spent any time with his music outside of what you just generally absorb. This didn't really do anything for me.
I think Suspicious Minds is my favorite Elvis song, and In the Ghetto is quite good. Others kind of bland.
A fine performance from the King, as well as the backing band. But other than the bassline and overall energy on "I'm Movin' On" I found the album as a whole fairly vanilla in terms of songwriting
I'm not an Elvis fan in the least but this one sounds better than most of what I hear. Bluesy, lots of crooning, but it works pretty well. Seems on top of his game here. I don't really listen to Elvis, but if I ever feel the urge, I guess I'll go back to this album.
“He’s white?”
This album has some great tracks, but also a lot of filler. However the more I consider this album, the more I don't know how to rate it. This was 1969, a year with albums from Led Zepplin, The Stooges, Mc5, Pink Floyd and many more. Elvis wasn't pushing boundaries like his earlier work. This was more like sliding backwards. I can't help feeling that if this album had more tracks with themes like In The Ghetto rather than generic love songs that it would be better.
Suspicious Minds obviously bangs, but the rest is just okay
Very Consistent
Much better than I expected. Came close to 4 stars, but listening to "In the Ghetto" as a closing track I just couldn't get there.
a rather laid-back Elvis here, lounge-singer, not rock'n'roll
Not my favorite Elvis, couple good ones in the middle. Most of it made me want to hear Roy Orbison
Listened: 21/02/2025 Album no: 22 % rating: 69% Fave Song: Suspicious Minds Love Elvis. Always been a fan. Enjoyed this one, really well produced which for some reason surprised me but it definitely shouldn’t have.
Ok, you can see why Elvis is popular here on the back half of the album. They're definitely soft rock hits, and the voice is.......the voice. It's not a slam dunk album, but I wouldn't be afraid to put this on in the background. It's weird that the back half of the album is so much better than the first, but is what it is. Probably a solid 2.5, but I'll say it's a 3 to round up after the strong close.
First listen I really didn't get much out of it. Listened through it a couple more times and it grew on me a little bit. There's some really good playing on this album, both guitar and bass that surprised me. Some of the tracks feel a bit dramatic and overproduced, horns in places they don't need to be. Standout tracks were 'I'm Moving On' and 'Suspicious Minds'. Gonna give it a 3, something I wouldn't automatically skip if it came up on shuffle while I was cleaning the house on a weekend morning, but not something I'd seek out again.
it's pleasant but it's a product of it's time
There are 3 songs that I really enjoyed but I don't remember which ones they were. Pretty much an inoffensive Elvis album. Why wasn't Suspicious Minds in this one?
From Elvis In Memphis is rather like being served a lukewarm cuppa tea when you were expecting a piping hot Earl Grey, it’s charming, yet leaves you thinking, Well, that was alright, I suppose. Now, don’t get me wrong: Elvis’s voice is smoother than a fresh jar of marmalade, and there are moments on this record that remind you why the King still manages to hold court. Take, for instance, his soulful delivery on "In the Ghetto"—it’s as poignant as watching the autumn leaves fall in a sleepy English village. However, other tracks meander along like a tourist lost in the labyrinthine streets of Liverpool, not quite reaching the destination they so desperately promised. At times, the album feels as if Elvis was simply having a jolly good time, bantering with the band and occasionally forgetting that he’s supposed to be crooning with the gravitas of a legend. The result is a series of songs that are as unpredictable as British weather: a dash of brilliance here, a spot of drizzle there, and a fair share of “meh” in between. So, while From Elvis In Memphis does have its moments of sparkle—and I must confess, I did have a giggle or two along the way—it ultimately leaves me with mixed feelings. It’s like ordering your favourite fish and chips only to discover that the batter is a tad soggy. In summary, I’m awarding this record a humble 3.2 out of 5 stars. It’s enjoyable for a bit of nostalgia and cheeky tunes, but not quite the full royal banquet one might have hoped for.
In the ghetto~
I have such interesting opinions on elvis the person that it kinda ruins my enjoyment of the music a little. But I do think he's got it a bit. But also dear god get me out of the records being recorded like this era it is unpleasent. it's like fine, of the era i'd rather be listening to his contemporaries. Crazy how the velvet underground and nico came out the same year
I'm stuck. There's a lot that can be said using Elvis as a contemporary representative for America's complicated relationship with the world, domestic and international. You can see the roots of the very real cultural integrations in his music that have lead to a more blended, more equal America today. You can look to the King Creole riots and see unfiltered reactions to America's failures and misdeeds in the global south. You can see the modern American canonization of wealth in Elvis' pursuit of fleeting indulgences, 8,000 calorie sandwiches, televisions in limos, red-eye private jets, and creation of personal holy lands and their intrepid pursuit toward the self-immolation of white suits on white thrones. This man was America's son and he had the world happen to him, not the other way around. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5Tg_-LDyfg
Woahh pretty momma I’m an orb/10 https://youtu.be/qY6UKPP-RC0?si=4xVe2n06cgOb836F
So this is an interesting one - I actually love Elvis. I really love a ton of his earlier stuff - way before the jumpsuits and all that come with it. I have immense respect for the artistry and the way he absolutely revolutionized fanbases in music. Women fainting at the swivel of his hips...like what? Broke all the rules and norms there ever were. This is....fine. I do like Live Elvis tracks a lot..especially his comeback special he did. SO MUCH HEAT in there. This is ok. I'll sit with it but it feels like a 2 or 3. Once again - would love to give a half star. It's probably a 3 knowing my appreciation for the man
Another live album by a legendary artist. I've heard of this album, never listened to it. Very cool album so far. Not a huge Elvis fan so won't listen to this whole album.
Reason why Elvis became big star but not my vibe
Ugh. I tried. And I COMPLETELY appreciate Elvis's performing like a champ and leaving everything on the stage. But...I just can't get into it. His vocal style and 'over' singing (from my perspective) just doesn't do it for me. And honestly a lot of the songs were just sort of semi-boring. but a few I recognized and the performance was great. His voice (for Elvis anyway) was totally on and it was a great live performance. Just not my style.
Wearin' That Loved On Look 3.5 Only the Strong Survive 3.4 I'll Hold You in My Heart (Till I Can Hold You in My Arms) 3.2 Long Black Limousine 3.4 It Keeps Right On A-Hurtin' 3.1 I'm Movin' On 3.3 Power of My Love 3.5 Gentle on My Mind 3.3 After Loving You 3.3 True Love Travels on a Gravel Road 3.4 Any Day Now 3.2 In the Ghetto 3.3 Score: 3.325
Despite a good album of Elvis, is not the music i prefer the most
good
I enjoy Elvis but I only really know his 25 or so greatest hits so this is a new album for me. He was more of an artist than he gets credit for today. This guy was the first true Rock Star, Mt. Rushmore of Rock for sure. I enjoyed the intro track a lot, "Wearin' That Loved On Look", which I didn't know. A few of these tracks are real clunkers. "In The Ghetto" and "Suspicious Minds" (such a great track) were the giant hits on this one. Both still get plenty of airplay. Then you get to minor hits "Don't Cry Daddy" and "Kentucky Rain". Would not have made my Top 1001 but I know it was huge at the time and put Elvis back on the map after some down years. I enjoyed listening to it.
Not a huge Elvis fan.
Not sure if this was worth interrupting my satanic death metal Friday, but I guess it's ok. It is The King, after all. And I never knew that true love travelled on a gravel road, so that's something. Guess I'll be moving to the country...but I digress. 3.65
I was finding this pretty lacklustre but then you still get some absolute winners like In the Ghetto or Suspicious Minds just dropped in there at like track 13. Soulful diamonds in the cheesy country rough.
-finally Elvis -apparently many people see this as his best record. makes sense, it certainly does a good job of showing off his range and experimentation with different genres -i like his hard rock / rockabilly stuff best, there wasn’t as much of that in here unfortunately but still had some great career highlights -Favorites are Wearin’ That Loved On Look and Power Of My Love
Not really my cup of tea (apart from the hits) but can’t deny his influence on modern music
The great white washing of rock and roll.
Not a fan of the man but a good album.
Pretty decent. No big hits.
Pretty listenable ablum, In The Ghetto still fantastic
Elvis at his best before he got to be too reckless. No big hits, but the album is consistent and reflects his style well.
The bar is closing, you're sipping beer alone in that dark corner, and your brain has stopped mussing. You're alone and it's closing time. Yesterday was more joyful. Barely.
but straight for me. hypnotic voice, I guess I can see why people went mad for him. do find myself moved in some songs. obviously suspicious minds slaps.
I found myself wanting to here the TCB band playing some of this stuff live, except In The Ghetto of course.
With such a magnificent voice Elvis would make singing the phone directory worth listening to but I find this album sad. Somehow - perhaps because it's from that era of his career - it reminds me of overweight saccharine Elvis churning out songs on autopilot for Vegas punters, his sublime talent being wasted as a money-harvest for the leeches who surrounded him & bilked him until there was nothing left.
Elvis Presley - From Elvis In Memphis Really consistent live album from start to finish. For an album made in the 60's, this sure sounds like good music to hear. I mean, it is Elvis who made this though, so I wouldn't be surprised the fact that it was going to be good. It mostly has relatable songs on here talking about certain topics (mostly love), but some moments sound really beautiful to hear and those moments are what makes this album stand out, but there aren't really that many highs though. Even with that being said, this is good! 1.- Wearin' That Loved On Look = 7/10 2.- Only the Strong Survive = 8/10 3.- I'll Hold You in My Heart (Till I Can Hold You in My Arms) = 8/10 4.- Long Black Limousine = 8/10 5.- It Keeps Right On A-Hurtin' = 7/10 6.- I'm Moving On = 7/10 7.- Power of My Love = 7/10 8.- Gentle on My Mind = 8/10 9.- After Loving You = 8/10 10.- True Love Travels on a Gravel Road = 7/10 11.- Any Day Now = 8/10 12.- In the Ghetto = 7/10 FINAL SCORE: 7.5/10
A lot of this is quite generic 60s rock and roll and country. I suppose that's because of Elvis being a bit older here so he wasn't a pioneering force of music at this point, especially when The Beatles had already come and (nearly gone) by this point and Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones were coming up I like the keys/organ backing Gentle On My Mind and Wearin' That Loved On Look that adds a different sound to the album and gives those songs a more layered and unique sound This is right enough, just doesn't feel like anything too notable Highlights: I'm Movin' On, Gentle On My Mind, Suspicious Minds
solid but not my thing. i find myself, oddly, annoyed by his warble. other singers vibratos are fine but not his.
high energy elvis is better but this was fine
I guess I expected more from Elvis. I wanted more jams.
For Elvis to release an album of this calibre well after his heyday towards the end of the 60s is an achievement in itself. As for the songs themselves, it’s a very consistent feeling of Elvis-ness, with his commanding voice enveloping the relatively insignificant instrumentation around it. Somewhat uniquely, there is only one immediately recognisable ballad in this tracklist, In the Ghetto. If its recognisability makes it stand out rather than its own merit as a song, I don’t know, but it’s a perfect closer for a seriously consistent album. For me, an Elvis album can’t do much besides be Elvis-y, and this was nearly no different, but I did enjoy it. And that’s about the highest praise I can give something like this. It’s enjoyable. It’s nice enough.
I don't generally like Elvis, but this was pretty fucking good!
This was fine, but not necessary. I guess, as time marches on and generations continue, it will be possible to get to a mature age without hearing this version of “In the Ghetto” or “Suspicious Minds,” and they should be listened to before you die. The rest is basic Elvis filler, and I’m not a huge fan of peak Elvis.
I prefer Elvis's early work but Suspicious Minds and I'm the Ghetto pulls this up to a 3
King pub singer. Keeeeeeng Puh-huh-huh-bah SeeeyyuuuuhhhhhnnnGAAAAAR!! Great backing band.
its fine, some parts like Johnny Cash which I like, and I like some parts of the storytelling songs, but theres just so much filler... Favorite songs: Wearin' that loved on look, long black limousine, gentle on my mind and last one. Overall around 6/10
Can’t say I’ve ever listened to an Elvis record in its entirety, but I’m glad I got this one. Such clean and fluid music, with the blues and soul of Elvis. Very solid record.
This was better than I expected. Standouts were "In the Ghetto", "Suspicious Minds", and "Kentucky Rain". There is definitely some sappy songs on here like ""Don't Cry Daddy" but there is enough good sound and quality to revisit this agin. I'm not a huge Elvis fan so probably affects my rating a bit.
Not a huge Elvis fan. Not a huge fan of this album. 2.5/5
A soulful voice and wonderful basslines (seriously, the bass is what bumps the album just above the average for me) are the things that make this album for me, however what breaks it for me is that it gets very same-ish after a while with only a few songs that even seem a bit interesting. Even at the time, I think, this album wasn't even near the best, but it's not a bad album. To me, at times, these songs sound more like Tom Jones than Elvis. It's OK, but I won't be revisiting it. Best: Only the Strong Survive, Gentle On My Mind, In the Ghetto; Worst: that's the whole problem with this album, nothing really sticks out, maybe Power of My Love 2.7/5
# Album Name: From Elvis In Memphis # Artist: Elvis # Rating: 3/5 # Comments: First Elvis album! was deeply dissapointed. It wasnt how i'd imagine it went. Quite dreary and boring if im honest. He has a great voice of course. Suspicious minds and in the ghetto are top drawer. The rest of the album can go in the bin. Shame. # Top Tunes: Suspicious minds and in the ghetto # Would I listen to it again? Only the two tracks.
I remember the TV Special with the black leather outfit from this time period...It's not the Beatles or Stones but I'm sure it was to a lot of people.. just not me...
Took a look at some of the other reviews, some of which cite "Suspicious Minds" as their favorite track from this album. Unfortunately, "Suspicious Minds" isn't on this album. It was a non-album single. The only real hit song here is "In The Ghetto". Elvis does Memphis, circa 1969, post-"comeback special". "I'm Movin' On" is emblematic of what was going on in country in those days. Wall of sound background vocals, funky back beats, saccharine pads of sound... these things sold, but they really sound dated today... while somehow the early Elvis (and early rockabilly and '50s country like Hank Williams Sr.) don't. "Power of Love" I'd never heard, is slightly bad-a**, and I actually wouldn't mind hearing again. "Gentle On My Mind" is owned by Glen Campbell, sorry Elvis. I disagree with other reviewers that say Elvis is phoning it in here... it's really the opposite. He was phoning it in throughout a lot of the '60s and is fully, 100% committed here. Releasing "In the Ghetto" as a single is about as far away as you could get from playing it safe and phoning it in. It's just a matter of whether you connect with it or not. I appreciate this album, I just prefer the early Elvis.
I've never actually listened to an Elvis album, and prior to hearing this I don't think I could even have named one amazingly. I do find a lot of his stuff pretty samey - I didn't dislike it but a few songs on this album could easily be confused for others. The few songs that do stand out are the hits, naturally. Even those didn't leave a massive impression on me. I'm hoping for some more interesting Elvis in the future!
Several tunes. True Love, Suspicious, Ghetto, Gentle. Leave it on the list. Highly recommend a trip to Graceland for the pure American-ness of it.
There’s a nice mix of soul and country here. Reminds me of Sam Cooke, but with a little more dirt under its nails. The vocals are front and center, and the music backs it up without trying to steal the spotlight. It’s good, but not life-changing.
Enjoyable. Was not expecting to encounter a '69 Elvis album on this list.
He had a really great voice, som great songs and some not as good.
as a lover of oldies music, i'm actually not the hugest elvis fan but i've listened to quite a bit of his music. unfortunately, this one is pretty unremarkable, in my opinion. at least with his early stuff, there is a semblance of being "groundbreaking" (whether or not he actually was is another story) or at least a trendsetter. elvis in 1969, quite frankly, is a little bit of a has-been. don't get me wrong, there's nothing here that i would consider bad. in fact, it's a little interesting to hear elvis turning into a country-soul singer. some songs are a bit more country, some are a bit more soul. but most of this album is just kind of stale and uninteresting. as with most of elvis' career, none of this is self penned, but there are a couple of contemporary pop hit covers on here ('only the strong survive' and 'gentle on my mind') and boy they are not really anything. many apologies to the king, but this is a pretty nothing album.
suspicious minds is a hell of a tune and then the rest of the album is there also. i'd listen again if the mood struck but think i prefer soulful elvis over hubba hunka badboy rocker elvis
it is an elvis presley album. he is talented but i don't really care for it
I enjoyed the background choir and I like Suspicious Minds, just don't like Elvis.
дуже старий, гучний
Albumi #128, 08.12.2024 En tunne Elviksen tuotantoa tippaakaan, mutta ihan kelpo meininkiä on tässä levyssä.
this started out surprisingly strong but didn’t hold my attention for very long. too bad! i was having fun but then the energy just petered out. fav tracks: wearin’ that loved on look; i’ll hold you in my heart (till i can hold you in my arms)
7/10
A solid album of Elvis sounding like Elvis again. The non-album singles are better than the album though. 3.5/5
Never too much Elvis, great occasion to listen to this genius man again. Such a warm atmosphere in the voice and the music.
Good collection but boring album.
Ray Charles on Elvis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hviUOCHKVVw Is Elvis the earliest and most famous example of ripping black music and then going country/pop/"folk"/etc. Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin fans please chime in. Anyway, was not really into this album.
It’s hard to rate Elvis, it’s such a specific sound/style. 5 Elvis’ out of 5. Good for what it was
Some outright classics and a lot of alright songs. It didn’t bore me like the other Elvis record I got a while back, but it didn’t impress me. But again, the songs that are good are really, really good.
Hits: In the Ghetto, Suspicious Minds Der Rest ist typischer Elvis-Sound. Kann man gut hören, ist aber nicht herausragend. 3/5
I thing I’ve discovered about my own taste in Elvis Music is that the closer he is to death, the more I like him. This is better than 50s-Rock-and-Roll Elvis, but not as good as 70s staggering-around-Vegas-incoherent Elvis.
Some good tracks here like Suspicious Minds. I like the mix and backing vocals.
Actually pretty enjoyable for an Elvis album. 3.5/5
Pretty good. I like a lot of the singles that came out of this album and Elvis' later career. They have a lot more production behind them, for better (Suspicious Minds) or worse (In the Ghetto). 3/5
So Elvis finishes his soundtrack contract, gets put in a studio with a bunch of musicians and creates this? Not bad I guess. Croony, perfect example of Elvis. Fave: it's hard to go past In The Ghetto.
3.5 stars. Solid jams. Don't listen to evlis much but really enjoyed it
This gets a very similar review to Savane. Not bad, just really not an engaging listen for me. Luckily there's a bit more going on in this album so it'll get a 3, but it's not very high.
This was alright, nothing special at all though. I definitely enjoy his voice but not doing enough to push it over and sort of edge.
Good
Barely
A comfortable listen. A bit ploddy at the start but it picks up towards the end. Not a fan of In the Ghetto (knew this one before) but I love Suspicious Minds
definitely a top tier album, but a letdown considering earlier peak elvis. Favorite track: suspicious minds other picks: long black limousine, in ghetto, movin on
#392. Not the best Elvis album. I don't know which one is, because I don't know shit about Elvis's music, but I think its probably a safe bet that it isn't this one. 3/5: there are some decent songs here, though.
I started out a bit lukewarm on the album but there's a number of bangers on here, overall an enjoyable album. But it's just some Vegas sounding Elvis; doesn't seem groundbreaking. Elvis surely belongs on this list but this specific album, I'm not convinced.
Doesn’t start out very well, but improves as it goes on.
Если быть совсем честным, я довольно сильно удивлен. Это было сильно лучше, чем я ожидал. Этого чела очень легко невзлюбить, учитывая количество инфы о нем, и самой разной. Но песни хорошие. Лучшая песня - In the Ghetto.
Didn’t have the zip I was expecting for an Elvis album.
I really like Suspicious Minds. The rest is ok sounding. Will I listen to again: 10%
Nice but not elvis' best
Elvis continued his comeback with this effort, not long after his TV special, which we can probably file under Southern Bluesy Rock, or similar. In the Ghetto and Suspicious Minds are the biggest tracks on this, but the rest of the album holds up well too.
Elvis' voice is very unique, and there was decent variety in this album, but I guess it's just not really genre. Some songs were incredibly sappy (eg Don't Cry Daddy)
smooth velvet presley
Always good music from Elvis. A few songs I’d not heard before.
3 Stars (8/15)
There were some decent tracks here, the opener had some clever quips, I’m Movin’ On had some groove. It was fine, not an album I’ll return to but it was fine. 3 stars
Never heard of this guy before, not real impressed with this album(a few good songs). Decided to listen to other albums and this guy can really kick it. So many better albums. This guy could’ve made it big in his time with the right people..only 3 on this album, but 5 on other albums. He could of been somebody.
Not bad. I actually think it increased my likeness for Elvis.
The king. Not a bad listen
The thing I kept coming back to while listening to this is how much it reminds me of The Band. True Love Travels on a Gravel Road could be a single on The Band or any of their later releases. Maybe it was just the feeling in the air in late 1960s that permeates and connects so much of the music from that era. This album is well made and well performed by top not h musicians and Elvis near the top of his game. It's just that it's not as interesting as his grittier early material. The culture has caught up to him by this point and there were a lot of artists doing similar things.
My second Elvis album this week, I preferred this one to the previous Elvis Is Back. Only The Strong Survive was a nice new discovery for me. Of course, Suspicious Minds was the climax. A worthwhile listen.
Some catchy songs but that’s not because of Elvis.
Had a lot of potential to be great but just ended up quite boring by the end
Well done country/soul, obviously a little old-fashioned by now, but still good.
It's okay. Nothing too memorable. 3/5
Woohoo it’s Elvis. He is kinda old and kinda lame already, but it’s still Elvis. Extremely schmaltzy, but a couple great songs. Best song: Gentle On My Mind
varios temas lindos, tranquilos
I'm not an Elvis guy. He's grand, like.
Reminds me of the old bloke who sings down the working men's club
Never been an Elvis fan. Like some songs like In the Ghetto and Suspicious Minds, the rest of this album not so much. So can't give more than 3 stars.
Pretty good album might listen to again but not a stand out for me. Can see how it might be a classic if you're into country/elvis.
Great album, never knew this existed. Elvis brings the country soul that was so popular at the time. And as always, that guy could sing like no other. His appeal, needless to say. This is all about Entertainment, and it does entertain. Doesn't try to get too profound, while at the same time, does give you stuff to think about, but only if you want. Consistently good. A great variety of songwriters here but cohesive nonetheless. Looks like this is where Elvis gets off the rockin' train and takes a stop at country town, with a soul twist. Well executed, very fun. Not quite 4 stars for being a little over-produced and loungey and not as heartfelt as some of his earlier stuff. "Ghetto" and (on the re-release) "Suspicious Minds" are standards now and for good reason.
He should really let all those people in the cages behind him out
i don’t think i’ve ever listened to an elvis album prior to this, especially not a later one like this. i mainly enjoyed “from elvis in memphis”, and it has some memorable tracks - ‘in the ghetto’ being one of them. his vocals are soothing, although not the best they ever were. i can’t think of much else to say if im honest; the album is just as much as i expected it to be. overall, not bad.
Didn't hate it, but didn't love it
This is not the best representation of Elvis. There are a lot of songs to get through before you reach the big hits - a bit meandering, a bit overproduced, though on the whole not unenjoyable.
Elvis' voice is what carries this. Musically more soul and gospel than traditional Elvis. Lyrical themes are heavy but the hit "In the Ghetto" is a moving protest track.
Not my favorite Elvis album but “Suspicious Minds” and “In the Ghetto” are worth several stars just by themselves. I often wonder, with albums like this, if this is the music he (or whoever is in the particular album) wanted to make and would they have been a star if this was what was first released. But you can’t deny Elvis’ place on this list. He changed music forever.
I am not sure Elvis's team ever had an original thought in their lives. They steal from black music, Elvis stole his dancing moves from Forrest Gump and now he saw how great Dusty in Memphis did and so he creates his own album in Memphis. Doesn't it feel like every artist who needs to revive their career turns to country music songs? It may just be me. Not to extend my streak of hot takes because it's my fault that I wasn't born in the right time. Saying that, I have never thought of Elvis as an artist in his own right. I see him as a mechanism that people around him controlled to sell records. He did movie soundtracks for "meh" movies that he starred in and then ended his life as a bloated lounge act. Maybe earlier in his career I would consider him more of an artist, but again, refer to his theft of black music. It's probably an incorrect perception, yet this is how it feels to me. The term "Elvis impersonator" can feel redundant because it seems like Elvis himself impersonated other artists. Okay, so on to the music. The two songs I know best are versions not by Elvis. These two songs are "Suspicious Minds" by Dwight Yoakam and "In the Ghetto" by Cartman. Long Black Limo, Power of My Love and Gentle on my Mind are also good songs. I can take this album or leave it. It's not bad and it's not something I would continue to listen to.
Just can’t get into Elvis
This is one of my more preferred total albums from Elvis I've heard so far. There are some of the more enjoyable elements of Gospel without being religious that really make some great pop songs. Perhaps that made for cultural appropriation arguments at the time, or even know, but it played for me as a very good hybrid. The songs that were new to me surprised me with how much I enjoyed them. The hits I knew well (primarily "In the Ghetto" and "Suspicious Minds") fit perfectly. I love "Suspicious Minds" and pretty much every other version of it I've ever heard, it's a great song, but that fade out and back in always confuses and bothers me. The only disappointment for me was the cover of "Gentle On My Mind." Rather than the wistful stroll honoring a beloved partner, this version just sort of lopes along with no real pace or emotion despite Elvis's voice and inflection. His voice is really strong and mature on the album, though it does at times drift into that more mockable later-Elvis style that feels like a contrived bit.
Not bad.
didnt mind.
Good in smaller doses
3 - I liked some of this, but it was kinda bland, especially because I listened to it at a moody time and it still didn’t carry
STANDOUTS: In the Ghetto Suspicious Minds OVERALL: 3/5, bad Elvis is better than most of this list—LET ME MAKE THAT CLEAR.
elvis
Pre-listening thoughts: I don’t like Elvis! I like Blue Christmas and that’s about it from him. Just rubbed the wrong way by almost every career/personal choice he made so yeah. Not super looking forward to this. Post/during listening thoughts: listen did Elvis objectively help craft rock and roll as we know it? Yes. This is good music. Elvis has a great voice and great stage presence and it’s hard to argue against him as a performer/musician. I however have personal beef with Elvis so 6/10. This genre of early rock is also not my fav in general. The like 40s/50s rock is sort of samey to me in a way I can’t explain very well (12 bar blues but more than that. Would be able to explain if I knew music theory!). But lowkey I did kind of enjoy this. Ack I’m so conflicted on Elvis like he’s so talented but he’s a crook!!! DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: no but most would argue otherwise Fav tracks: Wearin’ That Loved on Look, Power of My Love, True Love Travels on a Gravel Road, Suspicious Minds Least fav tracks: Don’t Cry Daddy
Ok
Def later Elvis, borderline Las Vegas Elvis. That grey area of classic Elvis and the kitsch camp. 3/5
The post movies Elvis comeback was in full swing and, thankfully, he's not entirely cribbing on black artists music here. Some genuine good songs like "Suspicious Minds" and "In The Ghetto" but don't sleep on songs like "Only The Strong Survive", the backing band as tight as hell throughout.
Suspicious Minds is an excellent song. None of the others come close, not even In The Ghetto. However, there are not many skippers either. 6/10
I quite enjoyed this! 3.5
Great show! Too bad I fuckin hate Elvis :)
Liked: Suspicious Minds, In the Ghetto.
Not a huge Elvis guy but Suspicious Minds, c'mon. Nice backing band on this one, too, and they do a great version of John Hartford's "Gentle On My Mind," but not good enough to make up for the ridiculousness of "In The Ghetto."
I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I've never really enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley, nor really understood why he was such a sensation. But I know this is *my* problem, and so I'm glad to get another chance to correct my Elvis deficiency, and this seems like a pretty good album with which to work on. Well, sort of, because as much as I get it that this is a more mature and experienced Elvis with a more soulful sound, it's still very odd and unsettling to have an album from 1969 sound so much like a modified version of his 1950s style, as if he had basically found a way to time warp and ignore all the music innovations and other massive cultural changes all around him. (For comparison, I just got done listening to this collection's Dr. John / "Gris-Gris" from 1968, and it's nearly impossible to reconcile that album and "From Elvis in Memphis".) Although I *did* enjoy "Power of my love" and "In the ghetto", I guess I need to keep on trying to find a way to enjoy Elvis....
Hard to rank a whole Elvis album, for me Suspicious Minds is an all-time great song, but the rest doesn't raise to the level of the hits and doesn't add much to listen as an album.
The King! But depressing :(.
Þægilegur Elvis. Hrikalega vel pródúseruð plata og hljóðfæraleikurinn mjög crisp og smooth. Hér er ekki verið að finna upp hjólið, en þetta er hrikalega góð plata. 3.5 frá mér.
It's Elvis, dunno if he's always my thing but yeah.
🤘
6/10 - It was pretty good. It was the embodiment of Elvis in my opinion. It just sounded like songs he would make and they were pretty good. His voice is so particular and that made them sound more similar Suspicious minds was a fantastic song tho.
Meh.
Great soulful Elvis sound throughout. In the Ghetto is best on the album. All very easy to listen to. The soulful sound draws you in. Not a ton of hits but classic Elvis soulful sound. Enjoyed the listen.
My mom's favorite song by Elvis is in the ghetto, so I heard it a lot growing up, so there's a certain nostalgia to that, otherwise, its just a sort of middle of the road album? I don't hate it.
Not my favorite
Not a big of fan of Elvis
Ma si dai bellino
Such short songs! Better for the juke box and radio I guess. It's very blue-eyed soul. I like it, even though it sounds like Elvis should have sung a lot of the songs in a lower key. Not my favorite Elvis album but he certainly had a lot of emotion in his songs, even when they're kinda cheesy. 3 stars
Meh
Far from the biggest Elvis fan, this is a pretty good album.
Sounds like Elvis which is interesting
Better than I expected. I don’t think I’ll put it on again but still kinda cool listening to an Elvis album….its Elvis.
it didnt had much outstanding moments or much uniqueness, but it was easy to isten through
Elvari on elvari.
"In the Ghetto: and "Suspicious Minds" are by far the best tracks on this album; the rest was ok, but not something I would go back to again and again. just a bit lackluster to me.
I've never been an Elvis fan, but OK, you can listen to this album. Is it great? Definitely not. It may have been very important in the context of its time. Today, it's probably only for Elvis fans and nostalgia music nerds. But OK, there are big differences to today's productions. This music is still real, in contrast to overhyped ex-country stars in glittery bodysuits and cowboy boots. Oh, the glittery outfit is of course a clear parallel. Well, show business. Still, a clear thumbs up for 'From Elvis to Memphis'. We'd rather not say anything about this lady, who wasn't even asked about here.
Cartman's In the Ghetto will always be the cannonical one, but its cool Elvis did a version too. This must've sounded very backwards looking in 1969, but in retrospect has that timeless classic feel to it. The band sounds great - a lively bass that keeps everything ticking along, some gentle soulful twang on the guitar, gorgeous backing vocals, surprisingly tasteful arrangements for the horns and strings that are lush but not (too) schmaltzy, and a crisp clear recording give this that essential soul sound for these pretty straightforward country and blues songs. Polished and slowed down compared to the raw energy of his early career, Elvis is in emerging as a full blown crooner here, demonstrating an impressive low range, that signature warble, and a flair for phrasing.
An ok album
Good crooning, classic Elvis. A lot of the songs sound very similar.
It's alright. I'm not a big fan of Elvis but he does have a good voice and the music isn't terrible. Some songs didn't age well, some songs are really good. I didn't think much of this record
Not a fan, sounds like end of career overproduction
Definitely only know the well known Elvis songs and even then, wouldn’t say I’m a fan as such. But listening to this, I think he’s actually better than his popular songs give him credit for. Nice easy listening to have on
It was good. I probably won't listen to it much again. But not bad
It was really interesting to hear an Elvis album and not just one of his most popular hits randomly in a movie. This album was a blend of blues, country, and hints of rock and roll, and it was clear how influential his work was for future musicians. Some of the songs were really fun ("Only the Strong Survive" was the standout for me), but overall the trends towards country and slow songs wasn't really doing it for me.
3.5. As I gotten, I’ve come to appreciate Elvis more and more. Do I think he was the greatest? No. Do I think he’s still alive? You’re darn tootin’.
A few really good songs on this one!
I'll never be an Elvis fan, but this was OK.
It's funny. I feel like the album morphs from general 70s rock to suddenly by the end, I recognize them as Queen. The last three songs in particular I loved. March of the Black Queen, Funny How Love Is, Seven Seas of Rhye. It was all kind of blendable background noise while I did chores and then Black Queen came on and I was like *gasp QUEEN* So I loved hearing that evolution from beginning to end. Great album. Ends super strong.
You never really hear *good* things about Elvis in modern-day music discussion. A man depicted as a thief more than a pioneer and is effectively a symbol representing the well-documented appropriation of Rock N' Roll. While that's a fair assessment - many artists who have shamelessly plagiarized (like Led Zeppelin) seem to have an easier time getting off the hook. Not to say these two are in the same situation - but it leads me to think that the quality of music and resonance with modern-day youth plays a large part in reaching a consensus on such artists. Nevertheless, I tried to put all that aside when listening to this album which I found to be mostly enjoyable. Oddly enough, I get a more Country, RnB, and Soul vibe off many of these songs as opposed to typical Rock N' Roll or Blues. Elvis' deep, crooning style makes this all sound intimate, almost like you're at some sort of private show. I also enjoy the backing female vocals across this album, especially on 'Long Black Limousine'. The quaint piano and string-led songs are the best - I certainly prefer them to the country-inspired ones with my favorite being the cinematic-sounding 'Any Day Now'. While not blown away by any means, I'd be lying if I said this was anything but a short little album filled with nice late-60s bops.
it's like fine
Pretty good but not really an album kind of artist. Some good songs on here.
Was OK, a little hard to follow
Like many, when I see the name Elvis I hear rockabilly and 50s rock & roll. He’s always had some blues in him too, so this record simultaneously feels both new and somewhat of a return to familiarity. “Late” era Elvis (only in his 30’s at the time!) still has some of that signature vocal delivery, but you can tell it’s dialed back a bit and more mature. I understand that this was a return to non-soundtrack albums after a period of… questionable quality soundtrack work, so perhaps Elvis and co. wanted to play it safe and dip into the blues side of his musical roots. Production quality was certainly not lacking, with the house band, The Memphis Boys, doing a lot of legwork too. Alright album, gets a bit sleepy at times but I can appreciate the evolution in Elvis’ music at the time.
It's cool. Not bad
Ew elvis
It’s Elvis
Elvis without the raw rock and roll grit
Though Elvis was getting older, his voice is still strong in this album. The album features the very strong song 'In The Ghetto'. That's the only hit in this album and it bothers me that 'Suspicious Minds' is not on the album (although it was eventually included as a bonus track). Its not the kind of album that's gonna move you. It doesn't have a theme or isn't revolutionary in any way. Its just Elvis being Elvis. Decent album but gets a bit old after a while. FAVORITE SONGS: - In The Ghetto - I'm Movin' On - Power of My Love 2.75/5
It's Elvis!
