not for me
Again. Same thing I said about the other hip hop album recently.
Eh
Not super interesting
# Album Name: Tical # Artist: Method Man # Rating: 2/5 # Comments: Honestly, i gave it a go. I really did. It just doesnt seem to be my thing. I can rarely click with a hip hop/rap album. Same with jazz. Im not sure what it is. I just dont like this genre. # Top Tunes: None # Would I listen to it again? No
Another hip hop that I don't rate. The whole genre is a waste to me all I hear is the same beat and profanity on most of these albums
Still don’t like rap. But the beats were good. So it’s not complete bullshit for idiots.
Run of the mill 90’s hip hop. Not bad, just not a standout IMO. There’s so many awesome records of this time that will most definitely be left behind because the artist wasn’t in a popular group. 1001 really be throwing any solo records of all the big bands.
Method man should just make music in wu tang clan. He’s trying a little to hard to be the clan while he’s “on his own”
Not really my thing sadly
I would like to start by saying I have never really been a fan of hip hop. This album is not for me, I found it to be long and boring. I also do not like what they did with I Will Survive.
Not the worst rap album I've heard (this list has more than enough).
Not bad but monotonous, would not listen again
Really not my shite, but I went through the entire thing, so I guess it was not that bad. 4/10
Wu Tang works better than their individual efforts.
Not my genre. I think what he does well is overshadowed by the sheer amount of it. Not a big change between songs on this record.
I'm looking for the button to vote, so to continue getting new albums
All I Need // Release Yo’ Delf // 2.5/5
As much as I love Method and Wu-tang this album lacks some punch. I feel it is the beats and producers fault cause the lyrics are insanly great. I own this CD and heard it a bit but never got into it.
With all the N words, swearing and tough talk I figured this guy must be a bad ass. But apparently he’s just a successful musician and actor who grew up playing la cross. Go figure.
Boring. Production is so flat and forgettable. Not for me.
Liked the gloomy musical feel but otherwise could get into it… and is that a rapper with a lisp?!?!?!? That’s a new one.
joa, da klang schon etwas wu-tang-clan durch
Vúff hvað þetta var leiðinlegt. Ekki alslæmt en bara leiðinlegt. Ég mun aldrei setja þetta aftur á og skipti líklegast um útvarpsstöð ef þetta myndi koma í útvarpið. Ég beið samt ekki eftir því að platan myndi klárast sem togar hana upp í 2 stjörnur.
Solid writing, but far too subdued and one-note for me to really like that much. 2.5/5
Hasn’t got the white girl charm offensive that other music of this ilk has. Perhaps Wednesday morning doing spreadsheets is not the intended listening environment.
Not really for me but not terrible either
Still not a big hip hop fan (is it not possible to write lyrics without explicit language?)
Personal preference aside, this album wasn't anything more than what it was trying to be. At least this didn't have 15-20 minutes worth of filler (aka "skits") like with Ghostface Killah's album. This just isn't my jam.
Not my style of music
Dark and dismal.
I like Method Man. This album shows he’s at his best when he’s with WuTang. All the 36 chambers references and the shoutouts here dont do anything to make this album stand out. The less good re-recorded “Method Man remix” stands out in a bad way
I really hated this for reasons I can’t quite articulate.
Bring the Pain is solid, the rest was meh.
Aight
i really like Method Man in the context of Wu-Tang, but this didn’t really do it for me. 2.5
didnt really enjoy this
Not great.
- Not my vibe and I didn't really love his voice tbh - Beats were fine I guess - 1.5 :/
- didn’t really stand out to me
Listened Before? N Eh it's okay. His flow is good. I see why it's an important album. It's not really for me. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Bring The Pain
I still don’t get it! I can’t tell if it’s just bad, or if I don’t have an appreciation for this type of music. I need to listen to a universal 5 or at least 4 album.
Now I know why many of the Wu tang clan is only known by their group work. This was underwhelming.
Not enjoyable at all. Seems like a pretty low effort endeavour to be honest.
2.5
Absolutely nothing of note in this album. Low energy background rap with a lisp. Then add the cringe of Release Yo'Delf and that gives it 2*
Interesting but definitely not my thing. But I liked the gritty production
Not for me
M E T H O D MAN Best Song: Stimulation Worst Song: N/A
I think Method Man is very charismatic but not always the best rapper. The production here was mostly forgettable. As one of the first solo Wu records, no one is mistaking this for Ghostface or Raekwon.
I don't really like Method Man's delivery and the beats here were a little dull.
muy metal para mi
A couple of standout songs, but ultimately not my cup of tea. Respect for the influence Method Man (and Wu-Tang more broadly) has had on the rap scene. 2.5/5 ⭐️
Another classic hip hop album that I can appreciate, but not really get into. Method Man has a way with the flow that does draw you in, but I'm not sure if that's just the underlying beat that's holding it. Best: Meth Vs Chef Worst: Release Yo' Delf
This album was a rather average album in my opinion. I was surprised, as I usually enjoy hip-hop albums more than I did this one. The rapping was very good, but what limited the greatness of this album were the backing tracks, which were often strange and dark sounding. I feel like his rapping would be better complemented by funkier beats, including different drum loops, better bass melodies, and catchy choruses. Nevertheless, it was interesting to be exposed to the Method Man, an artist I had never before listened to.
With the exception of bring the pain, this was a collection of dreary beats an nonsensical verses. 2 stars for me
Rap rollo.
Unfortunately, it’s not a genre I can appreciate. [0126/1001]
eh this is kind of a let down.
Nothing remarkable in there but pleasant enough. 2/5
Rap rollo.
This has to be one of the most forgettable hip-hop albums I've gotten so far, which seems to be a theme with Wu-Tang's solo albums. Each song just feels the exact same after a while, and I'm not a fan of the raspy-ness of his voice in long sessions. This just feels like it covers the exact things that the GZA album I listened to already covered. Not terrible, but entirely forgettable, save for a bar or two.
Pas ma came. J'aurai oublié demain.
I didn't mind listening to this. It sounds cool throughout, but no songs really broke through and connected with me. Wouldn't mind hearing this again, but I don't plan to return to it.
Outside my usual listening sphere, as most hip-hop and rap tends to be, so good for me to give it a listen. Some engaging stuff here, but I must confess to my untrained and unconditioned ear, after a while the tracks sound a bit too similar to each other. I do want to get more into this genre, and this project has introduced me to some great examples, so I'll keep pushing.
Method Man is a legend but this album was not my favorite. Some of the tracks were cool but a little too underground for my liking. 2.5/5
4/10. bah, not saying he isn't talented, but I don't care much for Wu-Tang and friends
I listened to it all and I still just don’t get rap. Some friends and I briefly got into Bone Thugz n Harmony back in the day and a bit of Tupac and I remember digging both of those and some Eminem hits I’ve heard but my hope with this project was it might illuminate something in me that recognizes the draw but that hasn’t happened yet.
Old school beats. I wasn't a fan this album but I did like release your delf
Some beats were good. Sub crazy was awful.
Meh
There’s been some really good hip hop come up on this list, but, this really isn’t one of those. It’s dreary, unimaginative, posturing. It’s like the death metal equivalent of rap, more for effect than for music. And like death metal I expect this to be mainly popular with 15 year old boys. And why do only women get to sing ? Why aren’t males allowed to sing ?
This does nothing for me.
I want to like hip hop more but I just can't get into most of it and this is no exception
Starts out nicely but loses focus and starts borrowing heavily from other songs.
Enjoyed it more than expected -- fan of the music, less so the lyrics.
not gonna revisit this
This was really not what I was expecting at all- it started off different than it ended and it was interesting. It honestly wasn’t bad- if I had more time to experience it and listen multiple times I could learn to like it however I don’t have that time so for now I’ll give it potential.
Not a fan of this one.
Meh. Uninspired (for me) rap / hip hop album. 2.5 stars
Lyrically, vocally, musically, there were very few bits of this album that left an impression. I don't think it's bad per se, but I can't see what makes it great. To me it's pretty samey and sorely lacking in standout tracks. I feel like I found more to enjoy on OB4CL and Liquid Swords but to be honest, none of the Wu-Tang solo albums have impressed me much. I guess their sound just ain't for me.
Not for me. Language.
Not my favourite. Could probably have it playing in the background easy enough but there was absolutely nothing that stood out or drew me in.
Not my favourite rap album; flow is good, beats are too low key without being gritty, makes it hard to access or really dig into.
He’s on some shit call him the fly. Sounds like a wu solo venture but man I wish rza would’ve learned how to play the instruments he got scattered all over this things some of the instrumentals sound like a kid made em, bowsers castle sounding beats
This is a wu-tang album really Not really a fan of the rapping 2.5
A better actor than rapper based on this album. The music is underwhelming and uninspired. His character Cheese from The Wire deserved to be unceremoniously executed by Slim Charles, but that’s because Method Man played the a-hole so well.
Sorry, not my jam. But for not my jam sounded good for that "genre" or whatever
Debuutalbum van Wu-Tang Clan lid Method Man.
I like a couple of the tracks, (Bring The Pain, All I Need), but wasn't really into the rest of it.
Doesn’t push above the surface for me - several tracks had notable beats and great lyrics, but as a whole I never felt the album coalesced into something which demanded my attention (as one would expect for a Wu-Tang product)
Another immemorial hip hop artist. I didn’t notice quite so much bad language and as I was doing something else it was largely listenable but not great so another 2* at best !
It was on in the background and I only really half listened to it, so shall I say "It didnt really grab me"
Some cool beats. Just not something I can get into for an hour.
Meh
Seems ok. 2.5
Hip hop. Coñazo.
Don’t really get rap, this is very meh
I tried my hardest to evaluate this properly. The beats and sampling I can get behind very easily. If I close my eyes and tune out the vocals it’s pretty okay. But listening to song after song after song with that same tedious muttering is enervating.
2.5/5 Not bad, just not my bag, baby!
About as interesting as a thematic almond. Not much happening to get me in
In the spirit of really keeping an open mind, I decided to really really try with this rap album. I had to toughen up my conviction by the time I hit track 4 (All I Need). By track 6 (Meth vs. Chef) I realize rap is a culture I can't relate to. Track 8 (Release Yo'Delf) I'm just breathing through the situation and trying to get to the end of this album. Track 12 (Stimulation) Wait...didn't Method Man do that "Get High" song. I liked that one. Track 13 (Method Man) Maybe if I were high I would like this more? I'm ok leaving this world without listening to anymore Method Man. Postscript: It's Afroman who does the song Because I Got High. That's a good one.
Good beats and lyrics in a few songs. Unfortunately this album didn't appeal much to me. Favorite tracks: Bring the Pain, Release Yo' Delf
Kjedelig
not really my cup of tea, and not really interesting for me. i've heard better albums in that genre.
migrane
éprouvant
A few good beats, but not my thing. I only really liked the Temptations/Diana Ross re-hash.
Not for me. Not today anyway.
The minor key made this a more challenging listen to me. Rap is a genre that I am not predisposed to love, so when I do there is usually something that stands out or is more melody-oriented. I did get a bit of that on my favorite track off this album, “Release Yo’ Delf,” with its musical reference to “I Will Survive” and horn-sounding backing instrument, which lightened things up a bit. It was the most interesting track to me. I am not the audience for this rap album. Not something I enjoyed listening to or will revisit again.
Meh thod man - fine, but far from exciting or interesting
Too tough
What the Blood Clot on ihan jees, muuten ei kyl tää HC-puoli räpistä oo mitään ykkössuosikeita. Kiva oli kuunnella levy, mut aika eh fiilis jäi. 2/5
not my style
I am beginning to notice a trend in the thoughts I have towards the 1990's rap/hip hop albums that I have received on this list so far. I ended up giving all of them (this one, Sex Packets, and Come Find Yourself) a 2 mostly because I just don't connect with them very well. I feel that I don't completely understand the appeal of the genre and cannot appreciate the difference between rappers/styles of rap. There are some rare circumstances where rap will really connect with me, but 'Tical' is unfortunately not one of those cases. Outside of a couple of cool samples here and there as well as consistent performances throughout, there was nothing really distinguishable here which really hurt it for me. All of the beats sound eerily similar to each other, and I didn't find any of the raps overly impressive (better than I can do, but still). If this came out in 1990 or 1991, I feel my thoughts towards it would be a bit more positive as it would have been indicative of the transition into innovative gangster rap going on at the time; however, this came out in 1994 which means a lot of artists were already doing this style before its release (Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Method Man's own Wu Tang Clan). If you are a fan of this music overall, I have no doubts that you would enjoy this; however, as someone who doesn't listen to much rap or hip hop, there is not much here for me to comment on. 2/5.
Rap rollo
Should stick with Wu-Tang
It seems like hip-hop moved on a long way between 1990 & 1994. This sounds a lot more modern then the early 90s albums on this list. I don't know enough about it too understand if Method Man/Wu Tang pioneered this change. This still didn't really can me though.
I just couldn't get into this one. I was expecting more after Ghostface Killah's Fishscale, which I loved, but I didn't walk away super impressed.
Some very entertaining songs but overall meh
ganska bra men ganska dåligt
It's likely the mood I was in when I listened to this album, but it was not for me. I think I enjoy the more complex production of 90s rap like in that Tupac album I got a while back as opposed to this which felt pretty stripped back. The lyrics were still pretty good though.
Honestly… disappointed. The beats were really rough. And worse than that, the production and mixing is so inconsistent. I feel like I couldn’t even hear the rapping over the drums on one song, then the next song turns the vocals so far up they drown everything out. The ONLY redeeming factor here is that Meth here is actually pretty talented. He’s got a good flow and some solid wordplay, even if I don’t really care for his style.
Well, it's rap and I generally don't like rap. I guess for rap it's really not the worst. I like the dark, brooding atmosphere of the album and Method Man's rapping voice isn't horrible. But that's still a far cry off from enjoying this album.
-I like the reference to "I Will Survive" in "Release Yo' Delf" -I like the flow in "I Get My Thang In Action" -Literally yesterday I said I looked Method Man's flow on "Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)," but I didn't really like the flow on most of this. Kinda whack
Not a favorite. I did not enjoy this album at all.
Well, nothing I will run my legs off to buy.
Not my favorite genre. There are plenty of interesting samples and derivations but ultimately having trouble getting into it
2/5 nope
Wu-Tang really is not my thing, and Method Man on his solo effort does not change my opinion one single bit. The production is weak, the rhymes are wack, Method Man sounds half asleep and not a single line or track on here is memorable to me. 2/5.
Not my type of rap music
I have no framework to rate this. I just don't get Hip Hop and that's cool. It wasn't made for me.
Kann ich nix mit anfangen.
I think you need an ear for rap music and I just don't possess it. I struggle to latch onto the lyrics which made this album much of a mystery to me. Easy to admire, difficult to love.
Sounded pretty samey to me. Best track: All I Need
OK
No bueno
Rap, rollo
Generic rap
Not really for me. I think I prefer west coast 90s rap.
Nope
cool. i like the idea more than the reality. i do remember liking wu-tang, but this didn't do it for me nearly as much as i'd hoped.
It's just alright for me. Not a genre I really enjoy listening to that much, but I can appreciate the work to some degree. 2 stars.
Maybe this album seemed revolutionary for 1994. Maybe the writer of 1001 albums was just sentimental about W-Tang Clan. Ultimately seemed like a very average rap album.
Je suis en retaaaard
War mal interesant. Aber nicht so meins
Not my genre but also not very good albums even for somebody that's no expert in rap
pretty boring, just nameless 90s rap like everyone was listening to at the time in high school
1. tical - 1 2. bizcuitz - 2 3. pain - 2 4. need - 2 5. blood - 1 6. meth - 2 7. crazy - 1 8. releaze - 0 9. ztyle - 1 10. action - 1 11. zandman - 0 12. ztimulation - 0 13. method - 2
Experimental jazz meets hiphop. The bed tracks are giving late Miles Davis. Unfortunately it further muddies the already indecipherable vocals, so I can't say it's worth hearing because I still don't know what it's trying to communicate. Lost on me.
Not the right method for me ... This one was rough
Bajo

“Your momma don’t wear no drawers” Definitely can’t take this seriously after that.
Nah
Not for me
I have never been a fan of hard core Rap Music and this album did nothing to change that. A shame I can't give it 1/2 star
Generic tosh. There is way much better stuff in this genre.
i really wanted to like this album. Really. But what the fuck are these beats? They sound like someone is playing wrong notes? And the album cover is just atrocious.
Whatever
This is bad even for gangster rap. He's not that good a rapper and the lyrics aren't that clever. More interested in the samples than the rapping.
Not my cup of tea. Did only listen to the first two songs
I made it through 3 songs. Crude misogynistic lyrics - particularly Biscuits. Not for me.
it was ok. better when it’s wu tang
Same as with Wu Tang Clan, it's "Kick Kick Snare" on almost every song. Is that the standard rap beat, or is that just a Wu Tang (and spinoff artists) thing?? Definitely gets tedious after the 3rd or 4th song. There were many times where I did not realize I was listening to a different song. I'm not sure I really understand rap. It seems like you're supposed to focus on the lyrics because the music is so basic and repetitive and monotonous - but the lyrics rarely make me feel anything or think about anything or learn anything. Almost all of this is braggadocio stuff - which gets very old when it's just over and over. What is "Tical"? They use that word in many songs - and of course that is the name of the album. After listening 3 times, I did end up liking the song "All I Need", I could recognize that it is actually a love song. Liked songs on Spotify: 1/13 Rating: 1/5
mal
Gave it 4 songs and it just dint grab me
not my taste
Didn't know the album. Always been open to hip hop, but not listened super-widely, so interested to focus on a Wu-Tang album. I like RZA's production style; I'm open to Method Man's rapping. Bring the Pain is interesting, I'm reading the lyrics, then oh dear, what's this at the end of the song? "So fuck the ho, fuck the ho". Major turn-off. (I later look at Genius, that's a mistake - read about Wu-Tang's "torture skit", that's a big nup.) Dutifully (doubtfully?) I keep listening. The track Method Man at least gives me the phrase "southpaw style", as sampled by some dubstep thing long ago, that's mildly nice. Anyway, I have no time for any man that chucks in a "fuck the ho" for the male bonding or whatever it's supposed to be, youse can fuck right off. I will go find some positive hip hop (Koolism for the win). 1/10.
From the first second, you know it's going to be bad hiphop and that it's going to be a struggle to finish
Not for me!!
Album 1035 of 1089 Tical - Method Man (1994) Rating : 1 / 5 I can respect its place in the genre and understand why it connects with its intended audience, but there was nothing here that pulled me in or made me want to engage with it further. The style, the delivery, the attitude - none of it clicked for me. I know this album is well regarded by many, but enjoyment is enjoyment, and I didn’t find any here. Sometimes an album just isn’t for you, and this was one of those cases. No lingering thoughts, no urge to revisit - just on to the next one.
Yuck, average crap rap. Please no.
Not a big fan of this but I liked the last two songs the best if I’m picking favourites.
En som savner Wutan. 🤷 Om muligt endnu mindre noget for mig.
Dark Rap -> 1
Nothing for me here. No melody. No harmonic progression. Robot rhythm sections. Lyrics obsessively centered on banal ego stroking and insults. Yawn. Next.
didnt like it. Drum machine was unbelievably irritating. It never changed just ticked away in the background I only lasted 6 tracks.
Not into the pro-PLO messaging
Expectations were not high when I saw the parental advisory on the cover, they were confirmed when I listened to it. Overuse of the n word and swearing makes it boring. Terrible
Girl don't waste that, swallow it all! Terrible and disgusting.
I guess you either get this or don't. Not my type of music.
Not my type of music at all.
Rap.. no thanks
I have no real sense of what makes great rap or hip hop — a lot of it sounds quite similar to me, and that definitely applies to Method Man’s Tical. I’ve tried to get into Wu-Tang Clan over the years, mainly because I love “Gravel Pit,” but their sound has never quite clicked with me. This album has some strong moments and a few great beats, but overall the lyrics feel dated and nothing really grabs my attention. It’s just not my kind of music. Favourite track: “Mr. Sandman” was decent. Least favourite track: Most of the album feels dated — it’s just not for me. Album artwork: A fairly standard rap and hip-hop cover.
Not a rap fan
Album Nr. 86 Trifft meinen Geschmack überhaupt nicht.
Feels like some drunk kid slurring and trying to rap. Meth man.
Done meh
Vou falar nada, 0/10
# 601 : Tical Tical – Method Man’s Method for Making Me Nap Nope. This was bad. Hip-hop is already low on my personal list, and this album sits near the basement of that genre. Every track feels like the same beat copy-pasted across the runtime, with lyrics buried so deep you’d need a mining permit to find them. It’s not fun, it’s not engaging, and it’s definitely not something I’d revisit. I got bored fast—like, “checking how many tracks are left” bored. Method Man sounds like he’s going through the motions, and honestly, so was I by the end. Best Track (if you must): None. Unless you count the sound of silence after hitting stop. Verdict: ★ for endurance. File under “albums that make you question your life choices.”
boze negers
cRap
Garbage
Trying to open my musical tastes with these albums, but still struggling with rap. This one doesn't change that. With the same drum machine beat on all tracks, they all just merge into one, with an angry dude giving off bravado. Nothing deep in those lyrics, and not much from a musical perspective.
Such a cliche.
East Coast Hip-Hop. I don't care what coast it's from, I just don't see the point of yet another Hip-Hop album in this list.
Just awful
slow rap? same shit. "nigga nigga what the fuck, fuck, fuck, kill a bitch, gun gun, fuck fuck fuck" not music. pure garbabge
Rubbish.
I can't help myself but I really can't connect to rap
Love his voice but this did nothing for me.
Aha, a Wu-Tang Clan member. I sure hope this won't be self-centred and full of sexist, violent lyricism that lacks any kind of musicality. Well, shoot. The music is pretty much devoid of any interesting melodic or harmonic musical ideas. Everything is looped, nothing is fresh or interesting - possibly barring the vocals. But even those are suspect. Method Man's vocals are touted by Vibe magazine as having "complexity", and Wikipedia describes it as a "distinctly smooth-yet-rugged voice". I get the feeling the authors are grabbing at anything to describe his voice, mostly because it's incredibly nondescript for the genre. Just monotone shouting with an East Coast accent. (A slight exception is Release Yo' Delf, which includes a pretty solid intro with actual singing. And a fun looped trumpet melody. For obvious reasons, it's one of the strongest tracks on Tical.) Sometimes Method Man invites a guest vocalist so they can both shout the same words at the same time with (vaguely) the same pitch and intonation. It's so bland, unchanging, and passionless. If you really must pick something that separates this record from the rest of the vastly-oversaturated hip-hop market, Method Man's voice doesn't cut it. And the collaborations don't bring much to the table either. The track All I Need may as well consist of Method Man double-tracking his own vocal. That's how insignificant Streetlife's contribution is. Or, maybe, it shows how inflexibly dull the composition itself is. What The Blood Clot isn't much better despite having not one but two guest musicians contributing. I don't pay much attention to lyrics unless they're very obviously brilliant or terrible. These were unremarkable in either direction – though I will criticise the frequent references to the Wu-Tang Clan and their 36 Chambers album. I get the sense it's done to mooch off the earlier record's commercial success to earn some credibility points with the listener. But it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's comparable to the Beatles releasing a new album after Abbey Road that includes near-identical music – except all lyrics are replaced with "We're the guys who made Abbey Road, yeah / Abbey Road's the best, and so is George Martin, hey / Oooh, my girl loves George Martin and I feel fine. yeah yeah yeah". It's also analogous to early-90s hip-hop artists having half their lyrics be shoutouts to Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg. It's a cheap method to make the music "feel" more important than it is. The song Bring The Pain is saved entirely by its hummed backing vocal. Maybe Method Man should've run with that idea, because it's clearly something his audience appreciates (judging by relative popularity). 1/5 Key tracks: Bring The Pain, Release Yo' Delf, Stimulation
1.5 - since lyrics aren’t a priority to me when listening to music I’m sure a lot of what makes them album great was lost on me. With that being said the backing tracks were not interesting in the slightest and dry repetitive
Not my thang
Not bad but not for me. 1/5
Not for me.
not my thing
Can’t tolerate this
No.
Bring the Pain Release Yo'delf
The shittest kind of rap. Just samples heavily looped with unimaginative talking and random sound effects. There’s so much original hip hop on the list, this is not that
East Coast HipHop with mumbled vocals, and repetitive beats. After the first song I was hoping it would end soon.
Disgusting lyrically.
Another american hip hop dog shit
Very simple: Terribly boring.
Well I know it was too good to last but it’s ages since I’ve had the misfortune of having a rap crap hipperty hopperty album served up. Despite the break my view of this utter rubbish has not changed. Please no more!! But I guess that there is plenty more of it coming my way since I have yet to hit the half way point of this process. 1/5 14/4/25
Oscar Wilde would struggle to find words to describe how bad this is.
This wasn’t floating around at the time on tape. Never heard it. There’s a reason. It’s not very good.
It was bad. I don't remember enjoying a second of this album. It's a strong 1, almost 2 though since this album didn't immediatly make me want to turn it off but after not long I wanted it to end.
This album is a mess, even for 1994 rap standards. Just lazy, uninspired, predictable, bland tracks. 1993’s The Chronic smokes this.
I would give this album 0 stars if that was an option. I have no idea how this made it onto the list. Absolutely dreadful!
Kudt
'sfleafzy'... mc Articulation Distorder
Love Wu Tang, love Method Man, but this album is objectively bad
🍑
Rapper in the crapper. I never considered rap as music.
I could not get through it. The beats were not enough for me to listen to the rapping. Will not listen again.
no
more rap, do not like
Pas du tout ma cam. Ennuyeux .
2/10 Monotonous
Trash
Not in my edition of the book! 1994. 1 star. (C)Rap. Tedious, dated, misogynistic, obnoxious, foul-mouth rubbish. Give it another 50 years and people will wonder why anyone ever wanted to listen to it.
Skipped it sorry.
Not my bag. I tried.
Dogshit
Fav: All I Need Least Fav: Tical There’s a lot of hip hop albums that that I’ve enjoyed hearing for the first time through this list, this was really not one of them
Shit, shiter, stitiest ..
Really didn’t enjoy
This was painful 1 ⭐️
Óþarflega leiðigjarnt.
Doesn’t speak to me
Normally don't mind east-coast rap but this just didn't do it for me
I just can’t adapt to this type of music. Repetitive and negative
Not my thing at all
Yawn…
If Mr Man were ever on Sesame Street, his letters of the day would certainly be the letters "N" and "F". And for the record, this is the exact point at which I thought "no thanks": "The ism helps to stimulate my pugilism I bust rhymes like jizm Impregnate the rhythm with the wisdom"
I hate this early/mid 90s “I think I’m a gangster” rap. I can’t get past all the misogyny and “tough guy” braggadocio posturing. The title is so discordant with the content of the record.
This person keeps teasing is with an introduction that is musical. Then we proceed into the standard hip-hop routine: repetitive beat with person talking. There are some who claim this isn't gangsta rap. Let's see, does he go on foul-mouthed rants threatening violence. That's a big yes. Same shit. Same rating.
I did not finish this. I gave up at the beginning of the fifth track when I realized that I was going to be listening to the same effing song for the fifth time. This should heve been a single (actually half a single as there is not even enough material here for a B side). After about two minutes you have really heard the whole album.
Ugly songs
Not really a fan
Puh - nothing for my ears. Some beat on each song. No, I'm not a hip-hop fan
Nope!
I also gave this hip-hop/rap album a chance. I can't get anything out of the genre.
ugh! 👎🏼
I would give it zero stars
Not my kind of thing
DNF: I really wanted to give it an honest try, but I only made it about halfway through. I really want to read the 5 star reviews to see what people love about it, but the lyrics are just so hard for me to get into. 1 star for now, but I might update after another listen if the high reviews intrigue me.
A hard pass
when listening to music i‘m really not listening to the lyrics but more to the vibe/feel and melody. so lyric heavy music like rap/hip hop is rarely my thing like in this case. Some head-nodding beats on this but nothing’s really standing out to me
The violent lyrics made it impossible for me to enjoy this album. Not my thing.
Incoherent mess over a drum machine.
I’d rather have a root canal than listen to this again.
First listen Saved 1/13
The background tracks were atrocious in my opinion, with “Mr. Sandman” as an example of a particularly terrible one.
I finally noticed the essence of gangsta rap is that you have to claim you constantly smoke weed but you can never claim to enjoy it.
Meh.
So incredibly boring and one dimensional
Pretty lackluster and boring, even compared to other hip hop albums I’ve heard on the list.
More rap. The world already has too much. This is rubbish.
Man, this list just loves to sneak in all the Wu-Tang members one by one don't they...and I haven't liked a-one of them (Raekwon, Ghostface, Wu) - I could go back and try to connect lines between them but who cares. As for Method Man...I'm not a fan of his rapping (monotoned), and I don't like the production (almost lo-fi bass heavy) nor much of the music on this one. Sounds like a winner! 2/10 1 star
♾️
Ugh. Double dose of rap. I just can't enjoy this genre.
Look, I like Wu-Tang. Saw them at the Enmore. And I liked the RZA album we rated - Liquid Swords(1995). But I found this repetitive & boring. And the Gloria Gaynor re-write was rubbish. Can’t believe this was so successful.
1/5 Ugh. I hate this. I don't like rap on the best of days, but repetitive off key singing, with n-bombs being dropped constantly.... Is a whole new low. I have heard of Method Man, but I didn't know I was going to be so disappointed. I kinda liked All I Need. It was a "love song" so that makes sense. Overall, just talentless pointless angry droning.
Sounds like a very tedious production in a genre I best avoid.
I don't like when people take other people's songs and dramatically change them.
o.o wut 0/10 no brain lyrics
I'm on a 1 star review roll so sorry Method Man.
Boring and valueless
