Reviews (page 9 of 10)

Some good moments, but ultimately a bit boring for me

Repetitive awfulness, but at least no foul language. So an extra 0.5 for that. This album demonstrates how art and creativity is missing from music so maybe they were ahead of the game on that.

I liked the remixes way more than I liked the actual music.

I'm not a fan of this. I would call it bad, I just don't care for the style. 2/5

Frontier Psychiatrist is about it. The rest is guff.

Australian electronical dancefloor music. Sophistical samples of uncredited snippets other musicians.

Sounded like an album you could only half hear from the stairway of a carpark adjoining a concert venue. Did not enjoy, low 2

Ich verstehe schon, dass diese wilde Sampling-Orgie gut gemacht ist und man das toll finden kann... Für mich aber zu unentschlossen zwischen Pop/Hiphop/Dance/...

I didn’t finish. I’m sure it would be great background music for a chill day doing….something but I don’t know what that is really.

No. This repetitive electronic music puts me in a bad mood. It goes no where and tells no story.

no me gusta

I really wanted to like this, but the repetitive words and samples just got annoying. The beats were boring. The album just felt soulless and empty.

Some bright spots but can't get into the album as a whole.

Not a fan of the disco music

It's an amazing achievement in sampling stuff and assembling things into something else completely. Its very loop-based nature does get on my nerves quite a bit quite quickly, though. Frontier Psychiatrist will forever stand as an everlasting piece of genius.

Nej tack😘 Bästa låten på albumet var Frotier Psychiatrist.

Simply not for me!

This album is not for me. I haven't hit the clubs or have good memories of hitting the clubs. There's a lot going on here and I am indifferent to most of it. I like some forms of electronic music and perhaps this just isn't down my alley.

Fun, but one song was enough

A bit repetitive but some funky beats up in here.

It's pretty mediocre in its genre

strange .. is this music, sounds like a lot of different kinds of sounds 2 stars

Not my cup of tea. I found the repetition frustrating and claustrophobic. I was occasionally impressed when new samples seemed to emerge out of the conclusion of other samples. Basically, if you enjoy this sort of thing, here it is. (Paraphrasing the late great Don Thompson).

Ok. Didn't really give me good energy.

Good background music at work.

Not my kind of music. I liked some songs, but those lasers where annoying

It felt like a collection of sounds / words more than an album

I've listened to this more than once to truly nail down how I feel about it. The reality is, I just don't want to listen to it anymore, and probably won't ever again. The sampling is neat, but that's about it. 2/5

Generally not a big fan. Frontier psychiatrist is a banger though

Sounded like a soundtrack to 1080 or SSX Tricky

Eclectic. Generally, too-layered electronically for my taste. Good samples but feels like I need drugs other than caffeine to appreciate this sound. Lo-fi / nightcore is an interesting development and they do it well.

I didn't like this as much as I thought I would It was 100x easier to listen to when I played it in my car compared to playing it over my airpods The high whistling noises in close to you, and the popping noises in Two Hearts were a lot, even when I played them out loud. The crackling and popping were far too asmr for my liking Frontier Psychiatrist was the only song I kindof knew and the whole time it played I just thought it would make a great tiktok sound "that boy needs therapy"

Cool album art, especially for this kind of music. I want to enjoy this, but it's a bit messy on the first take. I suppose I've come to prefer Daft Punk's cleaner, less cluttered sound. May enjoy more on another listen. Frontier Psychiatrist is a hell of a tune though.

Electronic music is such a chore for me to sit down and listen to. I get why is recognized as good and why other people like, but I just cannot stand it in large doses.

Repetitive and tinny

Nice to listen to this again

Not a fan, but I’m also not very into electronic music. I didn’t find any songs memorable

favorite song - electricity flight tonight was painful to listen to. felt like my skin was crawling. two hearts wasn't as bad. others were just not memorable. couldn’t finish it

A lot of horse noises.

- Frontier Psychiatrist

Did not care for this album

All songs sounded basically alike. Uninspiring even though some songs dance beat was ok. Not my thing

I've never heard of this band or album before, but since I enjoy electronica music, I figured there was a high chance I'd like this album. After listening to it though, this album was pretty middle of the road for me. The album was pretty long, and even though only two of the songs were over five minutes, a lot of the songs felt much longer than their actual run times. I liked the way that The Avalanches used samples to build their arrangements, but some of the songs just got repetitive and uninteresting really quickly, and a few of them were just downright grating after about a minute. I think The Avalanches have a unique way of approaching electronica music, but the end result just wasn't that great to listen to.

Far too electronica-y for my taste. There are vocals, which helps, but not enough.

Think this was on the other list but i don’t remember it at all and i think i know why. Was pretty excited after the first song (and most of the second song since it basically was still song 1) then nothing else really ripped for me. Was honestly a battle to get thru most of it bc i was not enjoying the sounds of any track. Electricity pierced my god damn ears. Having said ALL of that. Mac miller definitely sampled tonight on aliens fighting robots which was pretty dope to see

A decent beat tape, but I felt like they tried to cram in too much into a song for it's own good. It made it feel like the beats had so much going on that they were trying to achieve the "wall of sound" aesthetic, but couldn't quite get there where it sounds all harmonious. Instead it just sounds like "too much" at the same time

Messy. Didnt find the full album

It’s not bad. It’s just not interesting.

Easy lazy basement music. Not for me.

Old man hates shit electronic music

I didn't hate all of it, but I hated a lot of it

Moments of excellence but too meandering.

I recognize the craft but it seems like it’s stuck in a loop. 2 stars

not for me

Avalanches- so many samples. Idk 1.5-2

A miscellany of sounds, that passed like a blur of background noise

I don't get it.

Let’s let them leave me.

Enjoy as background music but isn’t the greatest album I’ve ever heard.

Catchy, fun listen, but I don't think it's something I will come back to. Seems to be very "lo-fi beats" which is not really my cup of tea.

- lots of samples - this is some stuff you’d hear blasting from where in the woods at 5am

I want to like this so bad but I just dont

Weird vibe-i-ness

Ég fíla þetta ekki. Ekki slæm plata bara ekki skemmtileg. Það var eitt lag þarna sem ég þekkti. Ég veit ekki einu sinni af hverju ég kannast við það.

Ikke for meg

Too much electronic/EDM style for me. I'm sure this is awesome at a club, but I don't go to clubs so I'll never listen to this again.

Stimmungsvoll, reichhaltig, leider anstrengend.

I’m really getting tired of these “sampledelia” albums, but it wouldn’t be fair to rate this one too harshly simply because it appeared on the list after several others of the type. So, in the interest of objectivity: it’s not terrible, but it wore out its welcome pretty quickly, which is unfortunate as it’s an hour long…

Not my type of music

I recognize the skill, but the was to much repetitivness and random animal sounds for me.

Over-long and you really only need to listen to one song to know what the album is like.

Meh, the beats were pretty good but I need some actual lyrics.

Multitude of sound. Only listened one time sorry. Unfortunately I did not found anything exceptional/remarkable :(

Psychedelic, too repetitive, not something I would listen to

Album starts very strong with a couple tracks that modernize the 70s groove. After that, they still use those 70s elements, but start fading into a lot of experimental work. It’s not bad, but a little much for my taste. Mid 2.

It's alright. It's not really my style and I doubt that I'd listen to it actively in the future, but I recognize that it's well done for what it is. I like the concept, I just don't love the execution - not because it's bad, just because it's not my jam.

As sonic wallpaper while I worked it was fine, but I don't know why someone would deliberately sit down and listen to this.

This one was okay. It had static sounds that my ears are sensitive to. I liked the beats but I wouldn't listen again.

This album provided decent background music for getting some work done at the office over lunchtime. Not sure I'll be listening to it on the regular.

Eh. 2. 3. Couldn’t decide.

Not my thing, not a fan of the weird sampling in these types of songs

Weird album, Frontier was good, rest was uncomfortable.

While I understand why this received the critical acclaim that it did; over 900 samples integrated seamlessly and creatively into a cohesive and interesting record...I still had to force myself to listen to the whole thing. It just wasn't enjoyable.

Electricity is cool, Frontier Psychiatrist also. Funky bass on Live at Dominoes.

A dozen songwriters is exactly as scattered as it sounds.

The sample work is rich and impressive but it really is not my kind of music. Samples of female singers, then high-pitched? Nah, not for me!

Weird "world music" sounding electronic. It feels like a new technique applied to an old style. Unfortunately I do not enjoy that old style, so this is not really for me.

Some noises

I remember buying and then never playing this CD - one trick pony bollocks

some tracks are nice but most are very “royalty free” reminiscent. then again if someone handed me this record and some drugs of their choice I think I’d have grand time. instead I listened on a cold and rainy august day. I fear I fudged the ideal conditions for the avalanches.

some good/interesting songs but overall nothing catchy for me personally

Plunderphonics is an interesting genre, in that its basically taking sampling to its extreme, to where songs are nothing but the samples themselves. And Avalanches apparently used like 1000 or so, which is unbelievable to me and must have taken endless amounts of time. So hats off to their determination to make such a record. However... I was kinda bored for a lot of this. There was a ton of chopped up vocals and decent grooves, but it just never progressed for a lot of the record, and it quickly just felt like alright background music. A shame, because I did really enjoy Frontier Psychiatrist, which did feel like a individual song here that even kinda had a chorus to it too. More songs like that would have allowed me to enjoy this better.

Es electrónica. Prometió el primer tema pero se quedó ahí.

Not bad, not great. Wouldn’t listen again.

Ehh, this is the kind of electronic that does nothing for me. It’s scattered and feels like an MF Doom album without the rapping. Frontier Psychiatrist was ok.

I would expect to hear this as background music in a bar. Wouldn't go out of my way to listen but it's not terrible.

Enpä tiennyt, että Since I left you -biisi on näin vanha! Vähän liian suureellinen albumi mun makuun, en saa joka vyörytyksestä mitään irti, massaa on.

Kuulostaa usein hyvältä. Onko "hyvää"? Ei niin hyvää, että ottaisin itsenäisesti kuunteluun. Eikä ole väärin kaivata musiikkiin vokaaleja.

Vet inte riktigt vad det här är.

This just feels like a live DJ session or an underground mix tape from back in the day--in a good way. Nothing I would ever listen to regularly, but it was fun enough.

nsomma....

Didn’t enjoy much, not as developed as other albums so far. Didn’t want to listen again. While I lie the singles, the album together didn’t do it for me 5/10

Some small bits are ok. It's mostly just a bit repetitive and annoying

Some solid grooves and interesting samples. Pleasant enough, but not super engaging.

knew frontier psychiatrist as the song all the "wacky" people enjoy. Rest of the album opens nice and chill and then just repeats itself over and over, as do each of the songs.. all start with a nice hook then just repeat it over and over. 2 as it's a little different

als hintergrundmusik ok, aber boring

Some cool moments, but mostly noise. Favorite track: ETOH

Very wacky album. First song is good. Gets a bit crazy. Frontier Psychiatrist might be the craziest song and sun up the wackiness of the album.

I know what I'm listening to if I ever hang with Molly. Not my thing.

I had this at the time, though it wasn't an obvious album for me. I quite like it, but I'm not sure it stands up to much repeat listening. It's sort of OK, I don't know, maybe now I've got to talk about it maybe it's just quite boring and repetitive. Still like Frontier Psychiatrist though.

This was an interesting and long pop/electronic album. The first song started off great and I really enjoyed it. As the album progressed it felt like it had some daft punk sounds going on and other times it felt like a 90s pop album mixed with distorted techno sounds which wasn’t great. And then I found out I still had about six more songs. Overall it was too long for what it was and didn’t live up to the first song. 4.6/10

I almost started to like this, then it started to repeat and got annoying. It was kind of chill, but again, when a song repeats the same thing over and over, I start to hate it.

Amalgama de samples i retalls dels '80s i de diferents estils per generar un treball més cerebral que encissador, tot i que és com una marea sonora que si et deixés t'acaba emportant suaument

Okay I suppose

Not the type of music I'd listen to with headphones on. I get how it would be groundbreaking for use of samples in dance music, but not really my jam.

Very mediocre, nothing bad but I would definitely not listen again

Look they’re super talented. I just don’t particularly enjoy this sound. In my opinion there’s too much repetition with not enough change to keep me interested. I know this is a crazy influential album and I know there’s other albums in this space that I really enjoy so it’s hard for me to rate it this low but it just doesn’t hit for me.

since i left you contains a lot of sampledelia; i've mentioned this before, but suffice to say, sometimes i worry sampling shows more of a lack of creativity and doesn't allow an artist to create their own music. the songs that didn't rely too much on sampling other pieces of work were better. the album alternated between easy listening and dance music, an interesting combination. there were some noises early in the album that were incredibly jarring and unpleasant. all in all, a forgettable listen.

The album had an excellent flow; it felt continuous and like one combined, cohesive experience. This is not my first sampledelia type album on this project, though, so if I'm being honest, I just don't think I'm particularly into sampledelia from a musical perspective. Technically, it is impressive, and it wasn't even bad to listen to, but I just wasn't really grabbed by this.

I'm sorry, but I'm not impressed. I've heard so much more effective use of sampling. The feat of layering that has been acheived here is astounding, but I feel the technique gets so blurred, it just becomes dense music. Nothing about this album was memorable for me. I'd expect to hear it playing in some fashionable shop.

I wish I could do halves. Not a 2 and not a 3. Lo fi LL cool J. Not bad, cool beats

Parecia mais legal, lembra daft punk, lembra justice, mas é mais repetitivo

not exciting

An album made entirely of samples all spliced together. Cool tech (for the early 2000s) but not something I'd normally listen to

Samples. Lots of Samples. But that alone doesn't make for a good album. I guess this is not my kind of music at all. 2/5

Didn't know what to expect knowing nothing about the group. The album turned out to be disappointing, repetitive and ultimately irritating.

A few interesting songs, but mostly it just sounds like background music to me.

It was okay

Very meh

Never heard of em.

Don’t remember it so must not have been great.

Respect the amount of sampling that went into making this album and I thought the transitions between songs were pretty seamless. There's a big lo-fi element that makes it somewhat quaint at times. Overall suffers from the same issues I have with most electronic music which is repetitiveness. Might be more fun in a live setting, but for individual listening is really boring to listen to. The only song I found interesting was "Frontier Psychiatrist" which pretty dynamic/not repetitive and had a cool Halloween/spooky theme throughout.

A bit much at times

Not my favourite, though I kinda liked Frontier Psychiatrist.

Spawned a genre. Not for me Some is very samey. Frontier Psy is very clever

Repetitive

i did not like this

I have the honor to give the 1000th group vote. Not the best timing though. I needed a few spins to find out what this is: a dj set cutting and pasting every sample they could lay their hands on. They probably had a lot of fun but there is no need to bother me with this stuff. Still two stars as some of the samples are really nice and groovy.

Poor, was dull then, still dull.

Dull, no real passion in it

It's like someone made a collage that almost doesn't look like a collage. They put a lot of work into the flow of it and you really appreciate the attention to detail. BUT... the subject, theme, or general feel of the piece is just not that extraordinary. It doesn't scream listen to me AND THEN you find out it is a sampling album. It screams sample album from the beginning. Maybe they did it at a time when it was harder than just having a MacBook. Maybe they did it before others did. Maybe they spent hours pouring over each cut. Does it elevate the collage to the work of Basquiat? I think it falls short.

I have no idea what the fuck I just listened to. 3/10

Feel like this woulda been better if they cut out like 20 minutes in the middle

A couple of bangers and a lot of filler. I nearly gave up on this one.

I have never heard of this band before so I didn't know what to expect. Unfortunately im not much of a fan of this type of electronic (?) Music. It was cool how they blended previous songs into the next songs in certain spots. The super repetitive lyrics on book a flight x 20 was frustrating to listen to. This was not my ideal album.

More electronic music.

Maybe I didn't give it a fair go, but I didn't enjoy it much. The style of voice sampling got irritating pretty quickly

Couldn't listen to it all, too long. Lovely, warm production.. that choppy, sampley thing is done well but also kind of annoying. Liked by people in Bristol probably.

Hi- A Different Feeling, Etoh Lo-Flight Tonight, Diner's Only Is this music? It sounds like samples repeated over and over until the artist gets tired of hearing them (usually long after I have). I'm just not a fan of repeating samples 16x times and calling it done, and that's mostly what is going on here. Some tracks actually do a pretty decent job of turning samples into music, A Different Feeling and Etoh are good enough tracks, but I'm not going to take them with me.

The name of the band plus the album art made me chuckle. I'm happy to take a break from 1970 but don't have any idea what to expect, I've never heard of them and the cover and track list don't give much away. I didn't expect this! I also didn't entirely leave the 70's. The opening track is quite surprising, nostalgic, layered, interesting. I like it but I don't like the production, I feel like I am overhearing the party next door through the keyhole or something. As I listen on I'm feeling like an hour of this is likely to wear me out. Yeah, turns out too much of The Avalanches is tedious listening. Faves: title track and Summer Crane.

No thankyou!

Not a fan of the repetition in most electronic music, and this one is no exception. Nothing particularly interesting here, fine as background music. 2 stars.

electronic didn't catch me

Revisiting 70’s motown. I find it boring

Cool album art, especially for this kind of music. I want to enjoy this, but it's a bit messy on the first take. I suppose I've come to prefer Daft Punk's cleaner, less cluttered sound, at least for studying to. May enjoy more on another listen. Frontier Psychiatrist is a hell of a tune though.

This one's all about "Frontier Psychiatrist." There's a reason it's the one song I ever heard from this band back when independent alternative radio was an actual thing; everything else barely made a dent. Speaking of dents, my relationship with this website is apparently broken. I wrote a whole thing for the Janis Joplin record, clicked "submit," and it promptly told me to go fuck myself by deleting every bit of it and not letting me even rewrite it. But I really liked that record. Even if "Cry Baby" was the only song on it I'd probably give it 4 stars. I like the others enough to keep it there. Also, spot on comparison to Joe Cocker, Craig. That had never occurred to me; now it's all I hear. Fishbone. I completely expected this entire album to be nothing but variations on "Bonin' in the Boneyard," (which lol, so so bad). Instead, I was pleasantly surprised that it was not that at all. I'd probably still prefer to listen to Living Colour or (for sure) Faith No More, if I'm in the mood for something that's at all in this ballpark. But it's a solid three star effort to my ears. Also, I still laugh at that story that supposedly John Cusack played some Fishbone song on set while holding up the boombox during that pivotal moment of SAY ANYTHING. Hahaha. Little Richard. You know what the drill is from the word "go," but as far as albums with songs that all kind of sound the same it's hard to argue against the effectiveness of this one. I assume this was all recorded live, as well? I mean, damn. "Ready Teddy" blows the roof off. No wonder white people stole this.

Electricity Since you drop the ball, it will roll all the way down, here it comes the whole mountain. By the name Avalanches you might think it's a revolutionary group or a single artist showing another view in the morning, but when you're listening you start to understand why they get that name. Assuming you're in that period of time you can mix anything with everything, that can be a massive success or a messing failure, let's put them in the middle of this scenario. Fact is no one survives after an avalanche or gets out without a scratch, this one is here to prove how things can go after a natural-case-event. Don't get too acquainted with the situation, just let it go and try to learn new stuff. D

udmærket men nah

I didn’t really have any use for this. It wasn’t actually offensive but struck me as wall after wall of bland sound assortments narrowly meeting the definition of a song.

Could see this being fun at a party maybe, but I found it annoying and too repetitive. I did recognize and enjoy "Frontier Psychologist" but that was my only respite. More than ready to be through with this by the end.

Alightly nauseating

Cleanly spliced together, but oh-so lightweight and boring. What was all the fuss about in 2001?

EDM-like. OK for what it is.

Why did I need to listen to this? It just wasn't very good. Insanely repetitive.

Piecing together old songs to make new…. Not bad, but not my thing and I while I can appreciate the work that went into it to pull it off - I guess I don’t appreciate it as much as a band that picks up musical instruments and makes actual music. 2

I've heard of these guys but never actually heard them - going by the name/cover I'm gonna say indie rock? Ok it's more like indie disco, if such a genre exists. A bit sappy and boring. Lots of samples, looped shit, nothing really interesting. Oh, the song Frontier Psychiatrist is familiar. Overall didn't like this. Ran too long as well. 2/5.

Oh no. Didn't like that... if I'd paid more attention it may have dropped to a 1 star.

Bad semi electro

Another electronic album, but this time it's a little bit different from the other ones on this list. The first song is a nice one and for it, the album deserves 2 stars for it, but it's just another simple electronic album. For me, it's very hard to note great qualities in this kind of music despite the classical albums (that is not the case of this).

Good album

Las primeras rolas muy bien pero a medio disco se atascaron de más o se les acabó la inspiración, que se yo pues.

Had some OK songs, but mostly just sounded like noise

I did not like this. Stressful and repetitive. Only gets 2 stars because I like the album cover art.

2/5 well...nope

A lot of noise and lyrics are an afterthought.

Electrónica. Largo. Coñazo. Repetitivo.

I absolutely can't stand when songs just repeat the same lyric over and over, which is why 'Flight Tonight' really got on my nerves and ruined this listening experience for me. It was grating and obnoxious in the middle of what was otherwise a fine album. Aside from that glaring problem, the album is good background listening, not really something that you need to focus on or pay much attention to.

An Electronic Mess

Вообще не мое

This album made me think of the radio in grand theft auto

Loop-based. A bit groovy, but mostly boring. Like Saint Etienne, but without most of the hooks. Annoying fake (?) vinyl noise.

Good background music maybe

The tracks on this album start out fun and funky but quickly become way too repetitive. You’ll find yourself skipping to the next song about half way through the current one. There’s just not enough substance to rate this LP higher . 2 Stars!

- apart from one song it didnt interest me with the old samples

Not my kind of music

I owned this album first time around. it remained largely unplayed. Frontier Psychiatrist is a banger. the rest no so much

It's ok, largely forgettable dancish stuff with a couple of good ines

Mostly not my taste

I don't know what I expected, but this wasn't it. It had flashes of music that I enjoyed, but for the most part this isn't my thing. Kinda feel like it's an album for Mike.

Eh. Not really feeling it much. Too repetitive for me.

Technically proficient. But who is this for?

This entire album is like a repetitive fever dream. It's interesting, but I probably wouldn't listen to it sober. If it wasn't so repetitive I might have enjoyed it more.

En resumen se me hizo aburrido. Sé que creativamente tiene su rollo y que los sampleos son muy especiales pero en pocas palabras no noté un principio ni un fin y ni siquiera me hizo "mover el pie" al ritmo. Le daría el 2.5.

Funny album. Not to terrable.

a wall of noise, barely musical

Probably would've thought this was super cool when it came out, but there is so much cool lofi beats and chill wave type music out there now.

This goes on too long and is really quite boring. Frontier Psychiatrist is a great tune, always was, but here it gets drowned by the sameyness going on all around it. This album mainly just made me want to listen to the songs it has sampled.

Not really my taste, it has some of its moments like "Since I Left You" to "Two Hearts In 3/4 Time" and the 11th track "Frontier Psychiatrist" which was my personal favorite on the album. Overall this album was a 5/10 for me, it tries to be meaningful, but most of the time it sounds disturbing.

This just sounds like music I'd hear at a resort inbetween the hourly playing of Despacito.

I wanted to like it, i respect the early DJs, just too busy for me.

Electronically, dance/club music. I can see the appeal not my type of music though.

meh too spacey

Not my thing

Not for me. Background music for some annoying restaurant. This one can disappear forever.

Worst album ive listened to in my whole life

Zu noisy/busy und weiß nicht wos hingeht

Overly repetitive beats give me a headache and make me ragey so this is gonna be a hard pass for me.

I thought XX was pure Muzak. This is even worse. I listened to one of the discs all the way through and was waiting for something interesting to happen. No dice. The irony is that I am a big Tangerine Dream fan, so I am ok with repetition (which this album has in spades). Now I know how my wife feels when I put on TDream…. I cannot bear to finish the second disc.

You didn't leave me, you NEVER had me with the crap.1

Boring and repetitive

Uma autêntica merda

Electronica seems to be overly represented in this list. Maybe I need to read the book to see what the parameters were for selecting these albums, but I have a hard time believing that this is amongst the best, most important or most influential albums of all time.

Didn't care for this one, all the songs sounded the same and didn't leave a lasting impression on me. I'm learning I don't really like electronica type music.

Basically just a mellowed out version of Fatboy Slim’s music, its repetitive and annoying. Simple boring beats and repeating lyrics, its not enjoyable in any capacity

This album is just a mess. After listening I felt like someone had been shitting directly in my ears — my head was spinning and I honestly regretted putting it on. It’s dull, boring, and way too chaotic for its own good. The “riffs” (if you can even call them that) are weak and repetitive, the samples are thrown together without any real flow, and the whole thing feels like a bunch of random bits glued into songs that go nowhere. The voice that accompanies everything is annoying and sorry-sounding, and not a single track stood out as actually good. Sure, there are a couple of short moments in some songs that feel kinda funky and could work if you’re sitting in a bar having a drink and just want background noise. But the second the song keeps going, it makes you regret even wanting that funky vibe in the first place. Overall, it’s boring, pointless, and way overrated. I suffered through the whole thing once and I have zero interest in ever hearing it again.

So we get 28 minutes of music looped for 2 hours? GTFO with this BS.

This is a big sample loop nothing burger

Залупа несусветная

Oh my god who CARESSSSS

Some of the samples are cool but everything else is annoying af. Unlistenable for me.

Chaotisch

Electronic pop. no good. Completely forgettable.

this is one of the only australian albums they’ve got? really?

This isn't music, and I'm a harsh noise artist.

Why in the world did I need to hear this. This was bad.

Nie ma wokali i dużo powtarzalnych części (dramat)

Standard electronically, each track need only be 30 seconds long

Based on others I’ve been giving 3 stars, this is a 1

The first album I couldn’t finish. Overwhelmed by all the sounds.

Some of these songs sound like they would be intro music of a preppy bloxburg video, see I don't really like when it repeats the same stuff continuously like bro the music is so good but it gets ruined as soon as the voices keep repeating with the autotune, its lowkey kind of annoying, and theres just too much going on like bruh theres so much random beats. But nethertheless I see what they were trying to do.Very funky music I feel very groovy listening to this kinda gives me MF doom vibes. I would give it 1.5 stars if that was an option but its not so gonna have to give it 1 because honestly if you cut out some parts of the songs it would be fire (I don't even consider 0 stars so in my books 1 star is the worse and i guess its not that bad...but can't give it anymore as I added 0 songs) 0/18 songs added

Revolting slop

Reminds me of being in a daycare. Lots of weird, loud noises that I wish would stop. DNF. I wish zero stars was an option.

absolute boring and repetitive nonsense. i’m flabbergasted by the amount of positive reviews. this shit is RANK.

this isn't music.

Stressful and boring at the same time

l do sometimes listen to techno/sampling dance music (eg Fred again) but this Avalanches album was nothing special. It sounded really dated and quite cheesy. A thumbs down from me.

Did I miss something here? This "Oops! All Samples" album is lifeless and dull, and feels like it was made with ChatGPT. You can make an all samples album pretty fun (i.e. anything Girl Talk did in the late 00s/early 10s) but this really wasn't hitting for me.

Electronic music is just awful garbage. This is repetitive trash and is basically one run on song chopped up into tracks. I’d rather have a colonoscopy done than listen to this.

Not a fan. Thought some songs might develop but never came to anything

The fuck?

Gosh, thin in the extreme, another wild inclusion.

Sounds like a Year 7 playing random keyboard sound effects in music class.

really not my thing, uses a lot of repetitive sound, and i cant get into that

Beetje repetitief, opzich wel aardig. Dat was een leugen, niet heel nice 2/10

Cacophonous samples

Noise with repetitive "lyrics"; absolute shite.

Annoying, stupid and painfully pretentious. Avoid.

Something about this really rubbed me the wrong way...the sounds in this album were just grating. Could not finish it.

I'm not an electronic music fan at all and this is exactly the repetitive kind of thing I can't really stand. Apparently one of the best Australian albums ever? That can't be right. I was ready to move on about two songs in but had to tough it out for another 55 minutes. Even for electronic music, this is pretty weak. Cool cover art though. 1.25/5

Hmm. Some sort of backing tracks kind of? Sounds like someone just started putting together random sound clips in GarageBand or something. Never offensive but not great.

Much more noise than music itself. Revolution 9 Enhanced dub remix version.

Did not like at all

No lo escuché, je

It's not for me.

I don't get this band

1. left - 1.5 2. zeazon - 1 3. radio - 1 4. tuuo - 1.5 5. rock - 0 6. flight - 1.5 7. cloze - 1.5 8. dinnerz - 1 9. feeling - 2 10. electricity - 1.5 11. tonight - 2 12. cruize - 1.5 13. frontier - 1.5 14. etoh - 1 15. crane - 0 16. journey - 1 17. dominoez - 0 18. kingz - 1

So much crappy over sample electronica on this list.

Not my cup of tea! Just didn't do it for me.

Rubbish

i spent some time doing something else in the background first sometimes the tracks served as nice background music sometimes i would notice how repetitive and filled with weird noise it was despite not actively listening to it after that i started to listen more actively and before long i felt like i was stuck in a fever dream by the end of the album i had a headache that lasted for 2 hours

Zombie music. Repetitive, no musicality, this is crap.

No, I couldn't finish. I apparenlty have Frontier Psychiatrist on my liked songs but again, I think spotify is adding stuff without my knowledge.

I did not enjoy it. I don’t like electronics music at all.

It's like someone perpetually changing radio stations and calling it music

Jive Bunny for the rave generation.

There was SO much potential at first. I was going into this with an incredibly open mind and the first song or two I was definitely vibing to… but then it just kept repeating. The same words. Over. and OVER. It was infuriating. Some of this music was actually really freaking cool but holy CRAP it’s incredibly obnoxious hearing the same weird sentence over and over for five minutes and then the next song a different sentence but five more minutes. Disappointing.

I loved the idea of this while reading the description and wiki entry but the actual album is so goddamn annoyingly repetitive that it's very quickly distracting. Seems like a lot of the good reviews or credit for this album are simply excusing the band for how difficult and skilled it was to put all this together. Bully for them. I just can't not be put off (annoyed) when most tracks are built around one small part that is looped over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and by the time I got to Flight Tonight I was thinking of and starting to hope for the sweet silent bliss of being buried alive under an actual avalanche... 3/10 1 star

I´m really surprised by all the high ratings for this album because for me it does nothing. Fits maybe perfect in a club but not on a record?! Skipped almost every track. 1,5

If I have to hear my boss tell me I need to be using AI more for the sake of efficiency, I’m going to kill him and myself. Fuck this robot music.

It's dance music, so I don't want to listen to it if I am not clubbing. There are endless repetitive samples.

Beeindruckende Arbeit aber nichts für mich.

To many sounds that became mangled together.

come on ... you're kidding, right?

It made no sense why it should be on this list. It was just samples and way too many of them

Endless repetitive rhythm and sounds

Exhausting.

No thanks. This music is not pleasing to my ears at all.

Didn't enjoy. Boring electronic/repetitive music.

This is some weird shit.

I second that this was some weird shit.

Plunderphonics? FFS. Do me a favour. Write something original. Nil out of 5 for me; I can't appreciate this shite.

Not at all repetitive and monotonous. Struggling to think of bigger waste of an hour in recent memory…

weird, very weird, i am not the audience for this

I was so glad when this was over. The most annoying cluttered music we’ve had on this website. None of it really had any value for me

Not for me.

Did not care for this at all

This is a brand new Hell. A 10th Circle of Hell. Having to play a horrible experience on a loop forever!. That's what it's like to listen to this album.

This should be ona list of albums no one should ever have to listen to. 1 star or F-.

total rubbish, it was just noise on repeat

This is overwhelming and overstimulating - it was triggering my anxiety. Also, I have long-standing personal beef with frontier psychiatrist: my brother would always watch the music video from start to finish whenever it was on the music channels and as a child I couldn’t wait for the infernal noise to be over. That being said, I kind of enjoyed it when I heard it again listening to this album. Maybe if I keep listening to one song at a time over and over I’d understand and appreciate, but who has the time for that?

This one is a no for me.

Not my thing. If you like hundreds of sampled songs glued together, then listen to Jive Bunny and the Master Mixers. Not this.

Couldn't make it past the first song
