Grime just isn’t for me.

Honestly? Cringe. Couldn't escape hearing grime a few years ago and it is still just as grating to me.

Not my vibe

Ugh. Not digging it.

Skibidi Toilet Ohio as the youngsters say

a.k.a. that feeling when some shitforbrains in a obscene overly-huge tricked out 7mpg Range Rover with 4ft high tires pulls up next to you at a stoplight in the city blasting this at 120dB and *your* rearview mirror is literally vibrating... Thanks, I legitimately hated every minute and every aspect of this. I did learn that "grime" is a thing and now I can safely tag it with both "Worst Music Genres" and "Embarrassed for Humanity" Headache-inducing overly-huge bass synths + trap beats + childish gangster cosplay + skits = 1 dead star 1/10 1 pile. 🪠

Kon'nichiwa, mō ikanakya 1/5 7/12/24

I really don't consider rap to be good music from the start so skipped most track and soon realize that it's about all the same annoying sound. Not for me.

terug een onbekend album door een voor mij onbekende artiest... ik had het graag zo gehouden

The first track is not terrible. In the battle for best grime MC, I'm comfortable saying Skepta is superior to Dizzee Rascal after only one song. A recorded phone call...the hallmark of a truly terrible album. They use the word fam a lot. 50 years of hip hop, a limited number of albums which made this list and this gets selected? Now a recorded video game chat session. And an angry recorded message now. The Pharrell track is an improvement over what has been a steady decline from the first song on.

The spoken interlude parts are annoying. They aren’t clever and don’t add anything positive to the experience. The songs are ok but too repetitive for my likes. Nothing here that makes me want to listen again.

Just not my style in any way.

British hip hop. And it's not Pete & Bas. So you just know it ain't gonna be good. And I was right, production is fine, everything else is bad. Can't get into it at all. There were a few okay parts but that was it. At least this was only 44 minutes I guess but should have cut out all those dumbass phone calls

At first I was a tiny bit intrigued, but as it went on I just disliked it more and more. I don't think I liked a single track on here, although I could instantly tell "Numbers" featured Pharrell before even checking the list. Low 1.25.

I suppose it's well-executed for what it is. Can't really judge, but I do know I prefer my life without any grime music in it. It wasn't as unlistenable as most other albums I give 1 star to, but I skipped most songs half-way through. The tracks were incredibly repetitive and monotonous.

Didn't enjoy it.

Has some cool beats, but some of the lyrical content was cheesy and felt inauthentic, maybe because it felt like London gangsta rap.

I'm sorry I just cannot get myself to take grime seriously

I've never heard of Skepta or this album before, and based on the reviews for this album, I have no idea how I'm going to feel about this. I reviewed Drive-By Truckers yesterday, so this is probably going to be a pretty hard left turn today. Let's get into it. Well, this album was definitely not my taste. I think the positive things that I can say about it are that it's very unique from the things I typically listen to, and the flow of the rapping was pretty good. As for the negatives, well, there's quite a few of them. I really didn't enjoy this album musically. Most of the production work (beats? samples? I'm not really sure what the proper terminology is for elements of Grime music) just wasn't very interesting to listen to. It didn't feel very melodic, and it was honestly pretty grating at times. It didn't feel like there was a lot of variation from song to song, both in sound or in structure and composition. Lyrically, the songs felt pretty muddled. Skepta would often sing about social issues and brag about his own skills in the same breath, and it was hard to choose what to focus on. I did like some of the social commentary though. Left-leaning Americans (such as myself) tend to look at Europe and say "ah, those guys know how to do it" when we're examining our own political landscape, but I think we often forget that every society has their own ills to contend with, and Skepta's lyrics provided a good reminder of that. I hate to be so negative about this album, but I really didn't like listening to it, and it definitely doesn't inspire me to seek out more Grime music. TLDR: This sounds like Isaac from Ted Lasso gave up on football, and pursued a career in music instead.

not really my style of rap, more attitude than substance .

It's just so unoriginal. The 'British-Rapper-social-commentator' vibe has literally been done to death. I can't hear a single thing on this that hasn't been done by someone else before him. Awful.

1.5 British rap is so unserious lol “I’m so rude, he’s the ting/ The guvment is rude, ring-a-ling-ding” It just comes off so insincere. And how is this Grime-y? I get that that’s what they call the genre, but it doesn’t particularly sound dirty or gross or intense. It sounds like mediocre pop rap, because that’s what it is!!! Sorry, I’m getting mad thinking about how many classic rap albums are NOT on this list! And this is!

Doesn’t speak to me

Got about half way through. Rap just not for me

yeah i don't know about this one. i'm not even a rap hater or disliker, i'm just not really a fan of whatever this is. the bars are corny as hell at times (i audibly laughed at a bunch of them and i don't think they were supposed to be funny) although skepta's flow is pretty good. the production here is what kills me though, i don't think it's technically bad, but the beats give me absolutely nothing and sound to me like something someone just threw together in garageband or something. and the skits? like am i supposed to take them seriously? is this supposed to make him sound hard? is it supposed to be corny as shit? who knows. to me, i couldn't take it seriously. it looks like this album is pretty well esteemed but i don't know why, there was so much better stuff coming out at the time of this release. not a fan, sorry.

I also finished the album quickly. Hip-hop. A quick listen. I don't like it. Then I can listen to good music now. 1/5

No. A one song wonder.

I always thought wannabe generic hip-hop that sounds like the budget version of the harder core recognizable stuff was missing from this list. This album sounds like the background music to a nightclub scene in a low budget film because they couldn't afford the rights to the real stuff. Apologies to whatever album was pushed off the list for this. 1.5/5

Not good

It is kind of hilarious to hear rap with an accent. lol. Terrible but made me laugh.

Grime, shmime! Really hate this stuff!

I’m just too old and not from London so grime just annoys me.

Are u dizzy blud

Löst Tinitus aus! Einfach nur Gestammel! -10!

Absolute torture. I don't enjoy most grime music anyway but fuck me what have I done in life to suffer this vapid shite? The lyrics are absolutely awful, did he think it was 'fire' or something to talk about murking fools to the MLG horn from 2011? Only ever known one Skepta fan, and he was a middle class white road man who put on a fake accent to try and sound cool innit bruv. Cut his own hair too. The only type of person who could enjoy this wankstain on the history of music.

I don't like rap

Not sure what to say. Not my thing. It sure why this or a few other hundred made the list.

Um rap acelerado, e continua para mim massante.

Hated it

Not my style.

Unremarkable and uninspiring.

That’s not me!!! Another mercury prizewinner I cannot get along with…. David Bowie should have won that year!

Pilaversio.. pillkka britti rappiskene.. Mans not hot.. Better tjan this..

Boring with an English accent.

What is this Jake Paul ahh shit. Get it out of here

I think this is the first time I've given an album a 1 without it being for personal reasons (Kanye West, etc.) I appreciate that Grime isn't made with me in mind (or most of the people in the comments), but I just can't stand it.

This probably sounds great riding around in one of those SUVs with the blaring thumping base, that really just annoys everyone around them. Meanwhile, this just meh. Sounds like everything else that gets blasted too loud by dickheads. Too boring to finish.

Nope. 1 year in and finally meet a Grime album, one of my least favourite genres. I just can't take it seriously. Literally grow up and do something productive for society instead of this individualism bullshit.

I have no idea why this is on here. Was this list made by an English person, is this really considered an album you must hear or even influential. I mean this came out in 2016 Grime had been around a long time before this and started to die off to my knowledge shortly after. There would have been a time where I listened to That's Not Me but not a full album. I just can't deal with it the lyrics the beats it all is just not my thing at all I was really tempted to just skip this but I decided to try it. Lyrics about crime, although I can not relate and usually dislike it, I can not be hypocritical. Mobb Deep The Infamous is a top 10 album for me but that is down to the delivery and the beats. I also despise lyrics about shagging women, I mean he doesn't do it much but it was there a few songs and it is just an instant turn off. I am no warrior saying it is wrong there are women who rap about it aswell but I do not want to hear about the ungodly things he wants to do to someone it just is not what I want to hear in a song. I appreciate a lot of people loved this album especially in the uk and maybe the list is trying to reach out to every genre, but you would never hear me choosing to listen to this. Stand out songs: Shutdown That's Not Me

I did not like this. While the lyrical styling at first gave me pause I tried to give it a chance to win me over. But the driving beat was so relentless and annoying I couldn’t stand it. I hoped after each song early in the album that the beat would change up a bit or relent some but nope. Same driving beat every song. I could take one or two of these songs on their own. “ Man” wasn’t terrible nor was “Text Me Back” by themselves. But included on an album with 10 other songs I just hate it.

Y’know, after getting some other albums, I thought I might actually like rap. This album made me rethink that. This album actually made me feel unpleasant.

Man, the UK hip-hop scene is fairly unknown to me. Grime is even MORE unknown to me. If I were to describe the genre after listening to only this album, I would mark it as aggressive and loud hip-hop. Like the breakbeats in each track are super loud and booming. Everything quite literally sounds "grimy", so the genre name is certainly fitting. As for the lyrical delivery, Skepta & guests are certainly commanding with each verse. A lot of the Brit slang flew over my American head though. Not really my type of hip-hop at the end of the day.

That’s going to be a no for me dawg

Oh god. Well I went in with an open mind, he instantly starts referring to the president despite being British. Half way through the first song I realise he hasn't changed the tone or pitch of his voice at all, I pray this won't continue. I persevere and "that's not me" and "Man" have a certain "produced in a bedroom" charm, even though this guys supposed to be one of the biggest in the UK scene. The attempt at a big anthem with "Shutdown" doesn't work. He raps about fake Muslims and Rastafarians misrepresenting themselves, then pretentiously calls his album Konnichiwa? This is bad, not just the music itself but how basic it is for the UK scene, not doing anything slightly interesting but hanging on the US coattails. 1.3

Oh nah bruh Likes: some of the beats i guess Dislikes: british rap is cringe Maybe biased against the accent but i really think these bars are lazy, and the incessant repeat of a rap chorus (which i dislike already) in every single song makes it worse. Not for me.

not worth the 1 vote

Weder hip noch hop, Rapp ist gruselige Musik, Texte verstehe ich selten, Slang und Crime, ewig gleicher Rhythmus...

I am never going to have any interest in listening to British rap. I’ve tried, I really have. But it’s just not going to happen.

Not for me

Rubbish.

Sorry, I don't like Rap.

Not for me

wont ever catch me listening to UK rap, trussss me daddy

That’s a no for me dog

Not a fan.

I am not a fan of UK rap. Im not sure if its the accent of the dead tone of voice that I dont like. Did not finish

Hip hop never really stood on my agenda, after listening to the whole album I find it very juvenile, narcissistic and in many ways too aggressive.

no. no grime

For the first rap album on this list, I feel slightly disappointed. It didn't really hit even though on a technical level it's all good. Good production and good rapping. The instrumentals were just not very gripping to me and I felt better vibes from other British rap acts like Stormzy, The Streets, Slowthai, Wiley and the like.

Not my thing

Not the shittiest out there 2 But its close 1

I think it’s done well and if I liked this kind of music, I would really enjoy it. But it’s not for me and I couldn’t finish it. Pissed me off I could hear his accent. Not a fan of the British.

I wish I had this guy's self-esteem...

Horrid lyrics

this was not for me sadly

Wow, fam. This generator has given me some rough to listen albums but nothing as awful as this, fam. First song had me excited, fam, second song had me a bit annoyed, fam, and the third song, fam, ended things for me. I was definitely a better person before listening to this fam. 0 songs added, 8 songs skipped. Skits were awful fam.

Cat: sounds cool. Lyrics are terrible.

They're trolling, right? Only 1,001 albums and we have time for this crap? I listened to the whole thing in disbelief and ended up several IQ points dumber. The lyrics are idiotic; N-words abound. The dude had a fight over voice chat in a game of Call of Duty, and he decides it would be a good idea to throw it on the album. I was disgusted with the whole album *except* the last 30 seconds. That was actually good, and not so coincidentally had no vocals.

I could not find one redeeming quality on this. The rhymes and beats were weak. I struggled to get through this.

Well I can see why some people like this, But as with others in this genre, the voice over powers the music and I don't like that. Nor do I appreciate music being usurped for political purposes. I can live with it if it is of a high enough standard musically, as with And Then There Were None by The Enid, or 1916 by Mötorhead. But again this just didn't have it. Even so some bits were OK and each track was mercifully short. 1.5

I did listen to the whole thing, reading the lyrics as I went. So much hatred, anger and violence. The violence isn’t even implied. Just couldn’t find anything I could hang a complimentary remark upon. Sorry, just not for me.

Mmm. My kids love it. I don't. Mandem, fam, Fireman Sam... Musically it was basic but ok. However, the vocals, lyrics and the phone calls? Nope. A low 1, not a complete 0.

Couldn’t give it zero stars

I hate aggressive music with corny lyrics forced for the sake of rhyming but made to sound meaningful via ranty delivery. It's too phony and try-hard. Not my thing I guess.

didn't like it at all. sounds like something some annoying teenager would listen to

Wild beat on Crime Riddim.

Do you know when those guys drive by you with their car windows open with music blasting and all you hear is this very deep, distorted subsonic bass going … boom … boom …. boom I always wondered what music they’re playing. Turns out they’re probably playing Skepta. I hated it when I heard it then and I also hate now.

The UK does a lot of things well, but rap is not one of them.

I knew I wouldn't like this, because I know I don't like grime, but this was obnoxious. The beats are laughably bad and the rapping was usually annoying. The interludes/skits also annoyed me, especially because they are attached to the ends of the songs for no reason. I don't get this album at all. My favourite song was Man.

Album 80 of 1001 Skepta - Konnichiwa Rating : 2 / 5 Favorite Track : None British Rap. I suffered through it, but can't say that it is for me. It was odd hearing rap with a British accent. So polite sounding. Rapper actually said "Fuck Me" and then followed it up with "not literally". Had its time and its place but I'm not involved.

Real Man's Not Hot vibes. dislike strongly, not sure if there is any scenario I would listen to this.

Dum Dum Dum Dum tingaling tingaling Dum Dum Dum "Here's some more about me". Tedious

not my thing, i guess

I just have a hard time taking British MCs seriously. Not really list worthy

You know, it had been a while since I'd gotten an album that was clearly only on this list because it was British, but I remedied that today. This album is the very definition of nothing special. The music is fine, if not a bit outdated. The lyrics are pedestrian. I haven't gotten a single Kendrick Lamar album on here, but somehow my bones could not be laid to rest without listening to this album. Crime Riddim legit has a minute and a half skit at the end of it, despite the fact that the song is 4.5 minutes to begin with. Seriously, a lot of this is sonically indistinguishable from the songs put out by QAnon rappers. They're talking about different things, but it's equally bland, and the beats are exactly the same. I hate this. I hate everything about this. This is the worst album I've heard on here since I got that Limp Bizkit album. The history of hip-hop runs deep with great albums, but somehow I got stuck listening to this one. At least until I gave up and listened to something good 1/5

Also, so weit ich es verstanden habe, versucht der Künstler in seinen Songs auf POC und deren Diskriminierung in der Musikindustrie aufmerksam zu machen. But idk…it‘s okay, not really my type of music…
