Gorgeous production and instrumentation. Really enjoyed this after multiple listens. Favourite tracks: The Mind of Love, Miss Chatelaine, Wash Me Clean, Still Thrives This Love, Constant Craving.
smooth, pleasant, enjoyable, listenable one of the rare times that this kind of music would get a 4. It didnt give me much but it was so relaxing
I've never really listened to K.D. Lang before. I really enjoyed this album. Lounge-y, sexy, and romantic. I imagined playing this during a rainy night in with my wife. Beautiful lyrics that really show her yearning for someone.
Enjoyed this! Found it to be affecting and a good vibe
another k.d. lang album on this collection. she's really got a specific style of writing country music, softer and sophisticated. this is country not for chugging beer, but for sipping wine. this is mother country. honestly it's pretty decent. lang's voice paired with these glitzy and relaxing instrumentals go hand in hand. it's a very pretty sounding country album. i wouldn't say it's the kind of music i listen to normal but i'm giving it a shot and a seal of approval.
I've never really listened to her before but I enjoyed it. It's probably not gonna get into my heavy rotation but it's nice for a rainy Sunday afternoon to read to.
Such a remarkable voice and timing
yyyyeah this is the stuff
sophisticated, languid, seductive, - the line when she sings "oh Katherine ...." is wonderful. beautifully recorded and arranged.
Amazing voice which makes it worth it alone. Might revisit.
Great
k.d. lang has one heck of a voice. after briefly reading the wikipedia page, i thought that this was going to be a pretty meh album. however, i actually really enjoyed her work. its easy listening, but really really beautiful. i wouldn't mind giving more of her music a listen.
What a great voice. Outstanding. A truly lovely record. Not something I was familiar with. Could be a five with more listening.
I've never heard an entire KD Lang album before and this was a really nice listen. She blends a lot of styles to make a solid cohesive album. The strings on Miss Chatelaine and the deep bass and folk-ish guitar on Season of Hollow Soul couldnt be more different but they fit this album and the mood very well.
Loved this album. There are so many mixtures of genres and sounds. She sounds like she should be doing music for English translations of Gibli movies. So many great songs including but not limited to Miss Chatelaine Constant Craving Still Thrives this love
Riches arrangements, langoureux, voix magnifique ; mais les textes attestent quelque chose de brisé, une grande douleur, explorent magnifiquement la psyché
8/10 Wow, wasn’t expecting this. Don’t understand why this isn’t in the “classic albums” conversation more loudly. Absolutely classy: great voice, great production, great orchestration Timeless in that it could have come from any year between the 70s and now Big French influences, plus country, American folk, even some North African/Middle East strings Best: Still Thrives The Love
I always forget what a lovely voice k.d. lang has. Constant Craving is of course the highlight of the album, but it’s pleasant throughout
This gets better as the albumn progresses and Lang more deeply tranforms into a chanteuse leveraging her lingering soft tone. I ended up liking the album much more than I thought.
Good stuff! I liked this album way more than I thought I would
Nice relaxing low-key album
I like this so much more than I ever expected I would. This could grow to 4 stars one day. 3.5/5
Без понятия что ожидать. Это девушка, вроде. Музыка томная, девушка тоже томной выглядит очень. Ну да, женский голос. Лирика, блин. А что-то вот заходит кстати, душевно. 4
quite pleasant
super chic...
Nice
Amazing, I loved her voice and the style (soft). Also the song "Constant Craving" resembles "Anybody Seen My Baby?" by the Rolling Stones ( the stones got inspiration?), already listened 2 times, will listen again...
This was both pretty similar and very different from the last kd lang album I got. It had that signature country twang but was also much more sultry and cocktail bar-ish than her other stuff which I appreciated. This would be a great album for just relaxing on a Sunday evening with wine and homemade dinner or something. Miss chatelaine was my fav.
This one suprised me. It was so relaxing to listen to. Her vocals harmonies are amazing and the songwriting was exciting. It feels inspired by Heart.
Liked it more than I thought. Very cinematic. Can see myself going back to this one. Rating: 3.7
This is k.d. lang really hitting her stride. Faves: Save Me, The Mind of Love, and Constant Craving which feels like a strange closer.
So, I already reviewed her earlier album, "Shadowland", for this project - in that album I thought I could clearly sort the songs into lounge, cabaret and country. In this album, those categories are less distinct - her style is more unified and blended together. Still a nice listen! The version I listened to had a bonus disc of MTV Unplugged performances, and that was great! Those performances actually felt like they had a little more oomph to them, which worked well. Fave tracks - "Constant Craving" takes me back to listening to the radio on long drives for family holidays - one of the few tunes that would come on that I actively liked, and that's still true today - fantastic song! Of the other tracks, I really like the opener "Save Me" - it's like a fusion of dream pop and country!
"Sumptuous" is the word I am looking for here.
I liked this
I really enjoyed this album
Comforting voice, good company for a lonely night
Beautiful voice, interesting songs/arrangements, lush strings… great album!
Ingenue enchants with its soft, warm, and gentle vocals reminiscent of country styled Tracy Thorn. The album's intimate melodies and heartfelt lyrics create a captivating experience. Each track showcases the artist's expressive vocals and authentic storytelling. Standout tracks like Constant Craving, Outside Myself, and Save Me highlight the artist's talent and charisma, offering soul-stirring moments that linger in the heart and mind. Overall, Ingenue is a masterpiece that seamlessly blends emotion and artistry. NUMBER OF BANGERS - 5 STAND OUT TRACK - Outside Myself
Only Love
Great, very calming music, great find!
So good. A beautiful blend of country, lounge, ballads, & singer-songwriter stuff. She’s so good at expressing love & longing. Engaging and personal, lots of textured instrumentals, unique compositions. One minute it sounds like I’m in the hills of rural Italy, the next it sounds like I’m in the dustbowls of Nebraska, the next it sounds like a pacific island beach. Close to a 5, will get many relistens outta me. Enough listens over time could turn this into a real 5, actually. Highlights are: Miss Chatelaine, Wash Me Clean, and DEFINITELY Season of Hollow Soul
Favorites: Constant Craving Wash Me Clean Tears Of Love's Recall
Muy agradable tanto la música como la voz
Very chill, I kinda like it.
Honestly better than I expected. I'd definitely revisit a few of these songs.
Tranquilito, lo he tenido de fondo, está bastante bien.
Based on 'Can't stand Gravy' I thought I would hate this, but actually it grew on me, with the high point being 'Still Thrives This Love'. What a surprise.
Old soul
I liked the songs, but I do feel like they are the same song over and over again
Dreamy pedal steel in track 1 reminds me of things I've heard in some of Sturgill Simpson's songs. Beyond that, the album seems to steer away from country towards more of a smooth jazz style. I know Constant Craving from this album, but not really any of the others. This album ranged from medium to really good for me: 3.5/4
I liked the other k.d. lang album we covered better, but this is still pretty good and her voice is out of this world. I think the variety of sound actually hurt this a little in comparison? I’m not as into the poppier stuff and prefer the more soulful material. Still a solid listen. C+
Sehr schönes Album mit einer festen Exakten Frauenstimme. Gut aufeinander abgestimmte Songs - die leider tw. Etwas langweilig wirken um dann mit dem Höhepunkt “Constant Craving“ abzuschließen.
Really enjoyed this album, hope to see more kd
Not usually a fan of torch songs, but her voice is so clean and this is so well produced
Got some pipes
Goddamnit I hate how much I enjoy soft adult contemporary. 4/5
i really liked this. good variety, it was all interesting.
Really solid album.
Beeautiful music!
This is the sort of album I mean when I wish for a singer who sounds genuine in their admittedly very cheesy outlook on love, with every vocal inflection feeling intended to get the full emotion being presented out there, and it seems these albums with only hints of country do it the best (see: Grant Lee Buffalo's Fuzzy) and keep me intrigued. I love, love LOVE her voice at points, and the polished production tends to help it stand out, rather than detract from the emotion in her voice. It doesn't always work, it could stand to have a few more high energy tracks mixed into it, but otherwise I enjoyed this far more than expected. I should keep an eye out for these alt-country projects, because they tend to sit well with me, unlike their more mainstream counterparts.
Constant Craving was a huge hit when I was a kid. Huge lesbian anthem. I never liked it and never heard the rest of the album. Turns out that’s my least favorite song on the album. It’s wine drunk mom music. Well maybe I’m more adult. Maybe I’m more contemporary. Or maybe I’m a wine drunk middle aged butch. Either way this album hit tonight - 4 stars.
I wasn’t expecting to like this, but as it played I found myself drawn in by the lyrics and the music. It’s passionate and oh so sad catchy.
suprisingly good idk definitely a 3 or 4
She has an amazing voice. Absolutely stunning. Like, probably one of the top vocalists in our lifetime. But - Her songs all sound the same. She knows her strengths and leans into them, a lot. The only song that sticks out is Constant Craving, which was insanely popular. Maybe there was a different producer or direction take with that track versus the rest.
Very nice
Beautiful music that I'm rarely in the mood for
What a voice! I wish every song here was as good as Constant Craving, but I should learn to look at the bright side: I love this album, and can hardly think of a better soundtrack to a lazy summer afternoon.
Now Lang I can get into
It was soothing, fav'd 1
Yet another I wouldn’t give the time of day to as a teenager. In my older years this is a very well crafted record.
A great album when it came out, it has become another classic. Great songs, great vocals, great harmonies, great arrangements. And a banger like Constant Craving at the heart of it.
k.d. lang's "Ingenue," released in 1992, is a masterclass in sophisticated, emotive singing and genre-blending. The album's centerpiece, "Constant Craving," is a timeless anthem showcasing lang's vocal prowess. The exploration of various genres, from pop to country, demonstrates lang's versatility. While some tracks might not stand out as much as others, the album's overall quality and lang's artistry make it a standout in her discography. "Ingenue" earns a solid 4/5 for its emotional resonance, remarkable vocals, and the successful fusion of different musical styles, making it a memorable chapter in lang's illustrious career
KD Lang has a beautiful voice. Very soothing, and lush. The songs are..very smooth country more so than pop country. But there are some standouts, miss chatelain, constant craving (this song has endured), season of a hollow soul.
wordly and atmospheric
Cool and elegant. A very classy album.
Great country, great voice. Very pleasant listening and a lot of potential for favorite songs.
This album was just ok for me. The vocals are above average. Strongest part of the album. This isn't anything I'd ever put on. One listen was sufficient.
eh
I feel like this is a grower. The slower paced tracks let it down a bit for me. Voice is amazing.
I didn't get all of the way through because of me, not the album. I enjoyed what I listened to a lot more than expected. I'm also glad to have experience some media from her since I remember the name coming up multiple times from my parents as a kid and having no frame of reference of who she was.
Still lovely!
A very nice album. There is no denying the power of kd Lang's voice it is quite simply spectacular and her singing style suits my tastes perfectly. Unlike other divas that have a penchant for over-singing kd's is always in service of the song and not to impress the listener though when the moment does call for it she can impress with anyone. The album has a nice relaxed jazzy feel with some bossa nova rhythms. The star of the show is definitely her big hit Constant Craving however there are plenty of songs that keep me interested and I will come back for more...already have. 4 stars
i liked this album, the sound remind me of the demo button of an old casio keyboard from the early 2000s in a nostalgic way. Fav tracks were The Mind Of Love (reminds me a bit of the last track on fly or die) and Outside myself.
I've heard of k.d. Lang but never sought out any of her music. Side note, I am always slightly annoyed at people using an initial for their first name or lowercase for proper names. So that's double demerits for Ms. Lang. Anyway, the music is not really my style but it's pleasant. It turns out I had heard the closing track, Constant Craving, many times on the radio and didn't realize it was this artist. I didn't dislike anything on this album. It's an enjoyable listen. For me it's similar to Dido or Sarah MacLachlan - nice music that I wouldn't ask people to turn off, but not something I'm adding to my permanent mental playlist.
would never have listened to this without the website. nice find
One suspects one was too impatient for this record or found it boring back in the day. How stupid of one's199x self, for it’s rich and polished, well-conceived, lush lovely, and quite niftily executed overall. It’s retrogressive but adds some fresh energy to songs that seem torch-adjacent. Music for adults for sure. The opener is compelling and one's always liked artists confident enough to put the hits at the end. Best cuts "Save Me," "Mind Of Love," "Miss Chat," "Outside Myself," and (of course) "Constant Craving"
4.5
It's kinda wild that this album ends with it's biggest song. It feels like that's relatively rare in pop music. I feel like this list has given me much more of an appreciation for KD Lang. I always thought that she had a great voice, but getting to hear her first album and understand that she came up as a country artist does a lot to color how I hear her later music. You can just hear the country in it, even though it wasn't evident before. Her voice is beautiful and very well-trained. I didn't have a lot of thoughts while I was listening to the album. I just kinda let it wash over me. It's great, and really shows off her range as a musician 4/5
How perfect of a pop song is "Constant Craving"? It's so perfect that it would justify any album it's included on to be on this list. And that's to take nothing away from the rest of this album, which overall is pretty fucking great. Three or four other songs could have been hits, should have been hits. It helps that lang has an amazing voice (she's right up there with Linda Ronstadt and Annie Lennox) that can harmonize beautifully with anyone. Somewhat unrelated: She also made a few memorable appearances on The Larry Sanders Show, where she fit right in feuding with Hank Kingsley.
I hadn't yet given k.d. lang any listens - not disappointed!
Bra album, lite Jeff Buckley vibbar.
A surprisingly pleasant album. Definitely gives off a chill vibe. Good album to listen to on a quiet and lazy Sunday morning.
Much better than I anticipated. KD had a fantastic voice.
4.0
Much nicer. Last track is almost an anthem.
The album is, unfortunately, unspectacular. She is a beautiful singer. It finishes with Constant Craving – probably her most popular single, almost certainly to be considered her "signature song". The remarkable part of this album is k.d. lang herself. Queer representation was practically nonexistent in the mainstream at the time, and she took this on herself as her responsibility to society. Hero. Legend.
Really pleasant, and I can see why the two different Albums are on display, but missing a shining factor.
Sort of like it...
Beautiful voice, used it quite uniquely for a blend between pop and jazz. Deserves a second listen since it had lots of layers and varied instruments.
You know, I didn’t like this when it came out. I dislike ‘singers’. But with the benefit of however long it’s been since 1992, she’s not a ‘singer’ as such. She’s a great singer. But like George Michael, there’s not a lot of melisma, or thousand notes crammed into a bar. Just strong melody and excellent intonation and a brilliant tone which is much harder than wailing. But apart from constant craving (so good jagger inadvertently picked it up for ‘has anybody seen my baby’ giving K D a stones writing credit) the songs aren’t really there. I listened to this twice before I realised that I’d listened to it more than once. It’s good but I don’t feel she ever fully reached her potential. As this is not worse than simply red I’m stuck on a 3.5 streak. Rounded up.
I have to say I was a huge fan of k.d.’s four country albums that preceded Ingenue, and was a little disappointed when she changed tack. I haven’t played this album for decades, but I’m so happy I have. The production is terrific. Her voice sounds great. The backing is excellent - did piano accordion ever sound better than it does here? I thought I would only remember the 2 big hits, Constant Craving & Lady Chatelaine, but I actually was familiar with most of it, right from the opener, Save Me. What a voice.
I worked at Scratches Records in Newtown in the early 90s when k.d. Lang's Ingenue was released. We had a significant lesbian clientele, and we sold boxes of this album. I reckon we probably sold more copies of this in 92 than Nirvana's Nevermind. It was a big seller for us, and it got a lot of play in the store. I thought it was ok at the time (although my favourite track was a non-album track on a single b-side called Barefoot). But this wasn't really my bag at the time. I was young. Not having listened to this in nearly 30 years, I was curious to see what I thought after all this time. My tastes have changed (and broadened) over those years, and this is right in my wheelhouse now. I love torch songs (Dusty Springfield, Peggy Lee, Julie London, etc) and this fits right in that tradition. The songs are sensuous, filled with longing, the arrangements are spacious and tasteful, and her voice is amazing. Nobody had really made an album like this in decades. There had been lesbian torch singers before (Dusty Springfield, for example), but not an out lesbian. The pivot from her country albums and leaning into her new out identity (although it is debatable how deep in the closet she ever was. I see that haircut on the cover of Shadowland) made her a new type of crooner These days, I love this type of album of torch ballads, and I wish there were more like it on this list. This was a magic discovery for me, and i need to track down a copy of this LP.
beautiful voice
I actually really enjoyed this. Great voice, some smart songwriting, a casual and relaxed vibe.
Love k.d. lang’s voice — really got into her as a performer with her Roy Orbison collab and her Neko Case collab. I had never listened to the full Ingenue album so this was a great opportunity. Many of the songs sounded same-y, though there were some songs I liked whole-heartedly. I’ve always thought of lang as less of a songwriter and more of a performer, doing better with covers rather than her own stuff, but maybe this impression was influenced by my distaste for ballads. I’ve grown more accepting of ballads, and there are some impressive ones on this record. I think I’m going to give this album a four because I love her voice, many of the songs are intriguing yet a bit too long, and “miss chatelaine” and “constant craving” boost my rating.
Very well produced album. Obviously the singing is excellent, and the songs themselves sound great. Kind of gives me Sea Change vibes, this came out first but still. Very chill and relaxing, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Only negative is that it is slower and all the songs sound more or less the same. Still good though. Score: 75 Art: 50
k.d. lang's ingénue was a very easy album to listen to. her voice is awfully gentle. she leaned more on jazz than i expected, resulting in a smooth album. i feel like i didn't get the full effect out of this album because i didn't listen with the lights dimmed and a lit cigarette in my hand. despite that, i was intrigued and enjoyed the listen. i found myself reminded some of leonard cohen. the singer-songwriter is part of it, yes, because also lang's lyrics (sometimes written with two other songwriters) are so personal. difficulties with love and being drawn to the wrong person, finding yourself. the slight folk sound is part of it, too. but at the same time, k.d. lang doesn't sound like much music i've heard. a unique album on this list.
Lovely way to start the day. Love the restrained vocals and arrangements, they really complement one another. Just a gorgeous voice. 4/5
k.d. lang nous offre ici une très belle performance, entretenant avec une virtuosité dont elle a le secret le doute sur son identité de genre. Et qui peut lui en vouloir quand on écoute le projet...
Lovely album. Some beautiful songs.
I started listening this album with my cheap bluetooth headphones and I thought it was nor great nor terrible. But next day I switched to much much better wired headphones. And difference blew my mind. There is so much great music going on in the background... Voice is good and it works with music perfectly.
4/5 It's always nice to hear a female voice in this 1001 Project. They feel so few and far between. This second exposure to KD Lang was much better. I caught myself grooving to the album. Certain parts of songs even made me think of Natasha Atlas, and had a kind of middle eastern vibe. Overall, the album gave me a feeling of pining for one's lover and it felt... correct. I enjoyed it.
Maybe I'm going soft, maybe I've been beaten down by the other music lately but I really enjoyed this one as shown by the higher rating. Fantastic singing, interesting music. Particularly enjoyed the more whimsical stuff much to my suprise. Definitely revisiting her other album from this list to give it a better chance/listen.
I got a Niel young vibe from some of the songs, I really liked The Mind of love. her music sounds really great for being in a car and just vibing. I could see some songs as being in the soundtrack for a movie. Its just nice to listen to.
Cooler than I expected
When country starts to cross over its usually straight to pop; lang goes on a more interesting direction here. Just solid lyrics and song craft on display, quite lovely. Maybe a little uniformly soft and low key: the emotional affect of it all is a bit flat.
So I'd hit the last song on the album (Constant Craving) without recognizing a track, but so the time thinking "wow this is great" and wondering why K.D Lang just didn't quite have so many hits. But she doesn't need to. Nothing samey, nothing standout, all solid.
Agréablement surpris, j'avais peur que ce soit trop soft/country à mon goût mais overall c'est un très bon album relax. Constant Craving est une bonne chanson que je connaissais sans le savoir.
4/5.
I never bothered to listen to K.D. Lang. But this record is actually pretty nice! She’s got a great voice and cool vocal melodies. Nice twang guitar style playing in parts. The instrumental breakdown in Constant Craving is very cool! Oh and the mix is perfect! All instruments mixed crystal clear and nothing muffled. Key tracks: Save Me, The Mind Of Love, Miss Chatelaine, Wash Me Clean, Constant Craving. 7,5 out of 10
Always thought “Constant Craving” was “Don’t go Crazy”
Vrij rustige singer-songwriter muziek.
I liked it, I'd listen to it again. Some of it had a musical vibe, some normal pop music. But all very pleasant.
I always thought I hated sappy love songs, but this album has taught me that apparently it was just because I couldn't relate to them. This album is full of cheesy, sappy, sapphic love songs and my gay heart has never been so happy. Lang's absolutely gorgeous vocals certainly don't hurt either. Best tracks: So it Shall Be, Still Thrives This Love, Season of Hollow Soul, and Outside Myself.
Pop, jazz
Takes me back to childhood. Dad used to play this album often. Hearing it now after 15 years it’s like a comfy jersey
What a shame that, at least where I'm from, k.d. lang didn't get the same amount of airplay that singers like Lisa Loeb, Jann Arden, or Jewel did. What we have here is high-caliber sad nineties girl material, but with the actual music being even better. k.d. lang is your classic singer-songwriter, but she takes her music to a more ethereal place - case in point, Season of Hollow Soul & Tears of Love's Recall. To me, the record sounds like a more subdued Kate Bush which I highly prefer. This might be the first album to make me want half-star ratings, because this is a solid 4.5.
Wow, I was really surprised by this album. This is not what I expected. Firstly because I liked it. It was wide ranging and a far cry from the genre in which I had stereotyped her.
yeah
Very good album.
Didn’t listen to the whole thing but I like it. And yay! A woman!
Another gem from k.d. lang! I prefer the lush Patsy Cline arrangements of Shadowland, but I think the songwriting here is more interesting. And damn, what a voice she has. There are several moments on here when her backing vocals come in that gave me the chills. I feel like this one will grow on me with subsequent listens. Who knew I'd come out of this project a k.d. lang fan? Also, how did I miss her the first time around?
This album fascinates me. How did k.d. lang go from a weird fringe country artist (from Consort, Alberta, no less!) with tacky-kitsch outfits and an ill-advised vegetarian political agenda, to putting out an album like this? It's impossible to categorize--the instrumentation covers every genre except possibly country! I love the dark moody songs the most: Wash Me Clean and Season of Hollow Soul are standouts. I saw her live a few years ago and she did a ton of songs off of this album. It was at the Jubilee and the sound was perfect and I think having heard them performed live with a full band made me enjoy this album more than I otherwise would have, as it's a bit too adult contemporary for my tastes. But these songs really are lovely. And I think k.d. lang has one of the most beautiful voices ever recorded, so honestly I'd probably listen to her sing anything.
k.d. stands for “kinda dope”
Cowgirl crooning.
7/10. Liked this a lot better than her other album, even considered an 8/10, but I think that's pushing it. Pleasant sad music.
Generally solid and has a couple great songs. 7/10
A very lovely record
Is it bad that I thought she was a boy before doing this?… The album starts with save me a slightly jazzy track but also with some tribal sounding drums. Her slow but fairly strong singing style really matches the music played so it’s good. The mind of love has completely different sound ( being acoustic guitar led) while having the same general feeling ( relaxed and loungey) it’s not a favourite song of all time but I still enjoy it and see the appeal that it has. Miss chatelaine is still majorly acoustic but faster paced it’s certainly a good song but one that’s hard to put my finger on. Wash me clean is the slowest track so far a kinda gloomy little thing verging on dull and drab but not quite that boring. At the start of so it shall be has a kinda artificial and repetitive beat to it but somehow still impresses with her vocals; later on the song gains other elements the violin especially is class. The on the edge strings at the start of still thrives this love are so thrilling and fresh for this singer but it goes into this tribal rainforest forest sounding song with the occasional strings still the albums best overall! Season for a hollow soul is also awesome it’s gloomy but by no means boring love the rhythm and the exploding chorus of this one. Outside myself keeps the same gloomy yet relaxed tone this time being primarily acoustic guitar based but with a killer piano solo in the middle. Not my favourite but still great. The penultimate track tears for loves recalling has amazing lyrics a brilliant piano track I personally think the layered on drums ruin it a little but at the start only coming into full power a good minute in especially when the strings come brilliant song. Also good lyrics. The album closes on the song constant craving a fairly fast paced but a somehow fitting little acoustic epic to close the project all off not the best not the worst. It’s good, not really my kinda thing, but still good great album all around.
Nice album to listen to
Smooth smooth stuff. Some killer songs on here
Very nice! Chill. Think she's a good songwriter.
It’s easy to like an artist that saves the hit to the very end. “Constant Craving” is a great song, and the lead-up is languid, then charming, then stylish, then smooth – every track thoughtfully conceived (merging jazzy torch songs with country textures) and executed with verve and polish, the singing assured and accomplished, the playing distinctive and adroit. Well done, k.d.
Traditionally not a fan of this type and style of album, but it’s hard not to like ‘Ingenue’. k.d. langs voice is undeniably awesome and beautiful, and she shines here with songs and arrangements that are uniformly excellent.
Smooth listening- very enjoyable!
didnt really expect to like this as much as I did
It was hard to focus because the weather was aggressively awful while I was driving to work and listening to this, but it think I enjoyed this elevated lounge act a lot!
Tosin näin duunin lomassa paikoin turhan rauhallinen / minimalistinen. Vinskalta iltamyöhään peukku.
Excellent, excellent! Really enjoyed this album! Don't know anything about k.d. lang but reading up I'm glad we got this album rather than an earlier one that leaned into the country genre
Very pretty music. Beautiful voice without annoying affectations or histrionics. No country this time, which makes this all-round appealing. A lovely album.
Just love this. KD Lang has the most beautiful, expressive voice nd just glides through these gorgeous songs. Wonderful
Okay first track has me intrigued. Miss Chatelaine has a sort of easy riviara mood about it. Wash Me Clean has a nice hook.
Dásamlega ljúf og góð plata. Elska röddina hennar.
Beautiful
Gotta be in the right mood for this but I definitely was.
Fantastic voice. Superb production. Way more to offer than just Constant Craving. So ... what exactly does it say about me if I really liked this album?
listening to this album, it grew on me.
Outstanding production and mix. Lots of effort into every song. May not be a daily listen but a delicatessen to have in specific moments.
Kinda a cool sound haha. Her lyrics are super over the top but a decent listen.
A brilliant album. Has the feel of a classic American song book. Wistful, melodic, romantic. And what a voice.
Liked this album
The album was pretty good. There were a few songs I didn't like but it was mostly good. It was good background music. My favourite songs were Save Me and Constant Craving. 4/5 stars.
This genre reminds me of my mom, but she has a very lovely voice and sound
Great songwriting, has a classic feel with some twangy guitar melodies
- Wow it’s a lady - She got a nice voice - I wish there was half stars
A truly lovely voice, but it gets tiring after awhile. Still, some nice stuff here.
It was a good album but just not really anything I’m into. That makes it a bit hard to rate and review
Pleasant
Unexpectedly enjoyable. Constant Craving is not the best, but it's the only one I was familiar with. She has a rather nice voice, the arrangements were very good. 3.4/5
There are some good moments on this album, especially "Constant Craving," but that comes at the very end, and most of it just feels like easy-to-dismiss cabaret style baroque pop that doesn't really rise up enough for me to give it more than 3 stars.
Ingenue was quite a solid album. Even though i wasn't familiar with k.d. lang's name prior to doing this project. I definitely have heard her song Constant Craving many times on the radio at the grocery store i work at because i definitely remember that vocal melody. As for the album itself, it's enjoyable. Lang's voice is very good here and i enjoy the cabaret elements this album has especially in comparison to her more country style in Shadowland. There were admittedly some points where this album felt like it was dragging itself out a bit but i never thought it made the album that painful to listen to. This is a pretty solid album but nothing more than that. Best Song: Constant Craving Worst Song: Wash Me Clean
It's okay...a little sleepy and bland for me, but nice voice.
Not at all what I expected, though I don't know what exactly I expected. An artist whose name I've definitely heard before but I guess never actually explored. I've definitely heard Constant Craving on radio play but I guess for whatever reason it never connected to k.d. lang as the artist. This had a laid back almost lounge like feel to it. I imagine a smokey basement tapas restaurant (shout out to Jazz'D Tapas in Savannah). It was pleasant to listen to. I doubt I'd revisit it. Nothing stood out to me other than the fact that I had very little idea of what k.d. lang sounded like.
One of the most lowkey albums I've had so far with 1001, could be the first country album I've had as it tows the line between folk and country consistently
6.5 / 10
#152/1001 🇨🇦 Constant Craving was a massive song back in the day but i don't remember hearing this album back then. I've given it a couple of spins today and whilst there weren't many other songs that grabbed me straight away its one that i feel the need to revisit to fully appreciate it. Best Tracks: Constant Craving, Outside Myself.
Not sure we need two k.d. lang albums on a list of nearly 1100 albums that includes ZERO Warren Zevon works. But her voice is in fine form here, and this is different enough from Shadowland in its "crooner" vibes that at least it's not like listening to the same record twice. Well, not completely like that anyway.
I like this album. Great vocals, plus weird string instruments, which is automatically a plus for me. It's in the realm of a high three; definitely worth it to listen to and solidly good.
I'd recently had Shadowland come up and was fearing the worst. That album just wasn't for me at all. This is markedly better. It's a bit too easy listening for my liking, but nowhere near as cheesy. Not for me, but I'm sure someone will really rate this.
Nice voice. This isn’t for me.
It was beautiful it felt like a life have lived before somber hazy Save me made an impression on me

A Canadian queer singer in pride month?? (Even though this was generated for me in May and I'm behind SHHHH) It was just alright. I do enjoy her voice but this wasn't a standout album.
I might be a terrible Canadian but I found this kind of boring. Beautiful voice, pleasant songs but a bit meh.
Nice easy listening album. My parents used to listen to this when I was young. 3
It's quite pleasant to listen to but I don't think it will go on my playlist.
A bit shit
Fine…
There are a couple of songs that have potential and then seem to fall in the opposite direction. Others are just straight up boring. Constant Craving is the best song in there and there are parts of The Mind of Love I enjoyed. K D Lang has a great voice but this album just does not hit for me whatsoever.
Glad that I've listened to this, but it's not really for me. Her voice is great, but some wise I like something with a bit of grit. Particularly liked Save Me, So it Shall Be, and obviously Constant Craving, but the rest of it was just fine
a pretty good country singer. songs aren't for every mood, but she has a beautiful voice.
Cool jazz like album, I saved a few songs. Like it feels like they could be in a movie.
It was fine, nice song writing but not super memorable.
Unfortunately, not spellbinding like ‘Shadowland’. Production is immediately more dated, smothered in that early-90s soupy percussion and reverb. lang’s voice is still beautiful, but I wasn’t swept away this time around. More organic songs like “Wash Me Clean” still work for me, but I can’t help but feel that this would be stronger if it was less firmly rooted in the sonic trends of its time.
Decent but not my thing
Ça va mais bon
Je m’attendais à une voix de mec, c’était mid et pourtant le fait que ça soit une meuf aidait
3.5
need some wine for this one. in the feels
Not bad.
More than one kd Lang album is wild. 3 for the agenda.
Personal enjoyment: 3/5 Relevance to this list: 4/5
Saturday, 9 May, 2026 Great production. Silky smooth tunes. She sounds like a lounge singer. “Constant Craving” was a hit for a reason! The rest is good.
Pleasant easy listening music! I enjoyed this album.
Really cool instrumentation and sound texture but again just kinda tired old love songs from a country gal.
Not something that I would come back to often but Lang obviously has a lovely voice and some of the songs really take advantage. Constant Craving is the obvious standout but not an unpleasant listen to if you give it a chance.
It's a fine album, but what stuck with me was how well-produced it was, without being tied to a specific point in time. And how sort of unexcitingly pleasant it was to listen to. But I don't remember a single song.
While this album is pleasant to listen to eventually all the songs sounded the same subdued way.
Far more jazz influence than I knew about. A little bossa nova thrown in too. Based on the single, the only track I knew, I expected a little more folk/country and rock influence. The overall tone hit me as yearning for that true love. I suppose that's fitting as this album came out the same time the artist did. Constant Craving
There is a lot to like here. Lang’s voice is gorgeous and she's at her peak here. The production and the arrangements are top notch. Constant Craving is a great song and a total ear worm. The rest? Meh, pretty tepid set of songs. She really deserved better material than this. Still, I enjoyed it, if nothing else for her incredible voice
I know it’s an important album but I’ve just never loved her stuff
Pretty enjoyable actually. 3.5, close to 4
Alright album, just not my cup of tea
I can tell you as a kid, I wasn’t into K.D. Lang. In fact, I’m not even sure what kind of music she makes. Is it country? Is it adult contempo? I’m not sure, but in 1992, when this album came out, I was not into her at all. This was my hair metal/Metallica years. With that being said, I’m really curious to hear what she sounds like. I have only a vague memory of Constant Craving in the back of my head, which is on this album. Track 1 is Save Me and it's giving me a Hawaiian vibe. It’s the steel guitar. Our good pal, Wikipedia, said Lang was hugely influenced by singer/actor Marlene Dietrich at the time of recording this album. Oh wow, Lang can sing. I guess I knew that, but this song is very good. Save Me Save me from you But pave me A way to you That explains the song right there, I think. One of those I’m drowning in love and need to be saved, but at the same time, I’d rather drown and see if it’s heaven. I really liked that song. Fun fact, Madeline Kahn in Blazing Saddles was spoofing Dietrich, and the song she sang in the movie, I’m Tired, was a spoof of Dietrich’s Falling in Love Again. At least I think it’s Falling In Love Again. Dietrich was a hell of a dame. Hawaiian Track 2 is The Mind of Love which was the third single off the album. This song sounds very much like a song from the 70s from a singer/songwriter type. But not a folk artist, a pop artist like Carole King. This song doesn’t sound Hawaiin. It has a great string section, and to me, it adds the 70s pop vibe to it. I know it’s weird, and maybe it’s not, but this sounds like a Queens of the Stone Age song to me. There’s something about it. It’s the same chords or maybe the same singing style as Josh Homme. Another great song. Track 3 is Miss Chatelaine, and it was the second single off the album. Again, strings or violins are playing, notice I didn’t say fiddles. I kind of thought K.D. Lang was a country artist, and maybe she was on her first album, as this was her second album. She uses a lot of the instruments you’d have heard in country music in 1992, but she is more of a classical artist? I mean, that in the sense that Laufey, who you need to get into, isn’t a pop artist in the traditional sense. When I think of Lafey and K.D. Lang I think of Cole Porter or the Great American Songbook. I wouldn’t be surprised to see either performing at a black-tie event with dancing. I’m not sure what I’m talking about, but K.D. Lang, if she truly was inspired by Dietrich in the recording of this album, she is reaching back into the 1930s with some of these songs. Track 4 is Wash Me Clean and it’s beautiful. The most pronounced instrument is an acoustic guitar that is kind of played over a bed of ethereal instruments that blend so well together, you aren’t sure what they are. I hear a steel guitar, a chorus of voices, maybe some synths, or a set of strings. I hate to keep pounding it, but no one outside of Laufey makes music like this today.... though I wouldn’t know, I guess. I just watched Laufey’s performance at Coachella Sunday night, hence my effusive love. Track 5 is So It Shall Be and it’s a bigger sound, but all the songs have the same instruments, really. The arrangements are so good, you don’t notice. I really like this album. I was not prepared for this. Track 6 is Still Thrives This Love and it’s another great song. I hear a clarinet in this one, and I’m not sure I’ve clocked one in earlier songs. Lang’s voice is so good. I have no idea what she’s doing these days, but I think, if she wanted, she could do what Rod Stewart has done recently and tour the Great American Songbook. I bet that would be a great show. Track 7 is Season of Hollow Soul, and I feel like I’ve heard this song before. Not sure where, it wasn’t a single. I must also point out that, besides being a great singer, Lang wrote or co-wrote all the songs on the album, and both musically and lyrically, they are incredible. Her lyrics are like poetry. And I know all lyrics are essentially poetry, but there's a huge difference between the poetry of K.D. Lang and the poetry of Buck Cherry. We now move on to the last song, it’s Constant Craving, which was the big single off the album. It also inspired the Rolling Stones’ song, Anybody Seen My Baby. In fact, the Stones' gave both her and her producer Ben Mink writing credits for their song. whether To me, this feels like the most country song on the album. While at the same time, the musical breakdown in the middle makes me think of R.E.M. Lang sings beautifully as always. The song sounds like it’s a constant craving for sex or love, but some believe it’s deeper than that. That it’s a constant craving in a spiritual sense, whether it be from God or the “universe.” The need for reason in an ever-changing world. I was blown away by this album. Truthfully, I dreaded having to listen to it when I got it. I wasn’t sure what I was getting, but it’s a brilliant album. I recommend checking it out. Maybe the next time you want to relax, maybe get yourself three fingers of some good Kentucky bourbon and ease back in your favorite chair, pop your earbuds in, and check out Ingenue.
Fairly nice album. Beautiful voice. Makes for nice background music.
I really do wonder what laufey thinks about this album….
Its fine. Good actually, but nothing amazing. 3/5.
Przez większość czasu dobrze się słucha, ładny ma głos. Momentami brzmi jakby śpiewała w teatrze. Akompaniament to takie przygrywki jak z paryża, a czasami z prerii, sama nie wiem czy to dobrze. W niektórych piosenkach, na końcówkach w kółko powtarzane te same słowa, które zamiast brzmieć jak przyjemna mantra to wyrywają człowieka z zasłuchania tzn. saaaaaaaaveee meee saaaave meee saaaaveeee meee; constant carving haaaaaaas always been, haaaaaas always been, haaaaaas always been…. Mogłaby wymyslec jakis inny sposób na zakończenie utworów to by było przyjemniej
That's the album with "Constant Craving", an actually good song. I don't know why it's at the end of "Ingenue"; I would've put "Constant Craving" in the middle of the album. The other nine songs on "Ingenue" are fine as well. I'm impressed by the consistent quality of the songs. However, I don't think they're worth playing on repeat. 3 stars for "Ingenue".
Got some Sade vibes
nice sound but songs kind of repetitive but i did enjoy
It sounds like parents' music to me. I feel like I, as a full on adult, am not mature enough to like this.
I do like the song "Constant Craving". I didn't expect it to be the most upbeat song on the album. By the point halfway through when she was singing that her feelings had gone numb, I literally said out loud, "Me too, k.d., me too." It is good, at least. Any given song is probably very good, but ten of them in a row is, you know: a lot.
# Album Name: Ingenue # Artist: KD Lang # Rating: 3/5 # Comments: Not bad. Nice vocals. Quite chilled and relaxed. Some would probably consider it boring though. One stand out track # Top Tunes: Constant craving # Would I listen to it again? Unsure
Fine, eh
I had this on CD in the early 90's but, honestly, hadn't remembered a single song except "Constant Craving." Stellar voice, nice torch song arrangements, but too monotone at the same tempo. When she tries to speed it up, like with "Miss Chateline," it kind of falls flat. For me, it's a boring album and "Constant Craving," while a great song, was massively overplayed.
Really great voice. A few of the songs here remind me of Harvest Moon-era Neil Young, very easy to listen to. But man, a lot of what's here just bored me. All sounds fine to be but very little caught my ear
Yep very smooth lounge style
As an adult contemporary album this is, it has everything that can be expected from the genre: soothing and passionate vocals, lush instrumentation, romantic topics and mid to slow tempo. Apart from maybe some very catchy and high moments, that's really it. All the songs follow the same general tone without any of them doing anything specially different, and for me it is a problem since they are a bit too slow for my taste and I don't find them to be dramatic or emotive enough to justify its slow pace. Regardless of being at bit tedious at times, I did like some aspects, specially the passion of the voice and the clear and quite ambitious instrumentation with a little touch of folk. And when I mean ambitious, I truly mean it. as there is about 30 instruments listed in the personnel section in the wikipedia article of the album. In summary, not really my thing, but still a bit enjoyable.
Solid. Not spectacular.
This is not my preferred taste, but I did relish just how unique 90s smooth this was. I felt like I was in a tuscan style kitchen with orange walls.
This was an unexpected one, I really enjoy the jazzy unique construction of the songs, but I am uninspired by the lyrics - so we'll settle at a midpoint of 3.
At some point I stopped listening to the words and just enjoyed the vibe of this one. That's not a bad thing as I've given high praise to some vibe albums before, but I don't think this one merits being rounded up from 3.5 stars to four.
Know the name but haven’t really heard much and intrigued to hear. Not really my thing. Pretty cheesy and clean. Poppy, emotive songs with a strong voice. But just doesn’t really grab or surprise me. Boomer parents music and pretty safe 4/4 (3.5)
I respect lang's personal and musical identity crisis here - it's never easy to figure yourself out, much less as a lesbian in 1992. But she never quite feels comfortable in the chanteuse costume, and she usually isn't doing enough lyrically to signify on that front either. She's better off when she ditches the jazz-pop in favor of letting her Christine McVie flag (and voice) fly - "Tears of Love's Recall" and "Constant Craving" in particular feel like they would belong on *Tango in the Night*, which I mean as a compliment.
Does nothing for me. Just kind of boring and meandering. The songs are about love and longing and it's just so tiring to listen to these at this point, like you're not saying anything new.
This really grew on me as an album and frankly ending on Constant Craving bumps it up half a star.
Liked this more than the other KD Lang one on here. Pretty nice listen
Fine but not as impactful as Shadowland
favs: miss chatelaine wash me clean so it shall be still thrives this love season of hollow soul rating 2.5/5
Un gros 5 étoiles. Sur dix.
This was a nice time. She's got a nice voice, the tracks are easy listening, and I like the instruments broadly across the whole album. 3.5 rounded down.
Average songs with great vocals (like the other kd lang album from this list). ‘Constant Craving’ is the standout here, but overall these songs blended together and won’t hold any staying power in my brain
Incredibly pleasant voice. CONSTANT CRAVING is super grooves approved-track. Feels like this hits hard on a tropical vacation, or as the background music to my romantic Cowboy film, 'Love is in the Air, Love is at the Ranch.'
I found myself bored for the first half of the album but her voice and writing stood out enough for the second half
Not quite the music I expected. More country than lesbian indie rock
Wasn’t expecting country adjacent for some reason
Just ok 2.5/5
What a surprise this album is, there's so many influences across the album, it seemingly moves through genres at will. The major standout is k.d.'s voice, otherwise you kind of go on a meandering blurry journey through all these songs and at the end I couldn't tell you what is what but that it all sounded pretty darn good. It feels like I'm at some piano bar listening to a top tier live performance lounging around drinking cocktails. I'd put this album right down the middle for that reason, there's not single standout for me but the 10 song journey was pretty nice.
That's not my taste in music - Boring
A perfectly cromulent sophisti-pop album
Great voice. Constant craving is a masterpiece. The rest of the album though is pretty bland.
3.5
Even though I knew k.d. lang before, I only really got into her through the radio program of Elton John (how else?), and while I admired what I heard, it never really emotionally clicked. So I was excited to get into this album. Yet when I played it, Tidal automatically shuffled some other tracks by "similar" artists once the album was finished, Melissa Etheridge and Natalie Merchant. I enjoyed both their songs more than the actual record ... Don't get me wrong, this was pleasant enough to not wanting to turn it off, but nothing really grabbed my attention.
High quality dinner party music.
Quite easy listening, she's got a good voice
Was very impressed by the range of instrumentation and she’s got a nice voice. The songs are so-so, but I’d call it good overall
More mainstream and a lot less country than expected. Thought it was too smooth for me with warm voice and lush instrumentation (over produced). But started getting into it a bit more around So It Shall Be. A bit Abba like on Season of Hollow Soul. Still not really my cup of tea. Constant Craving a good finish. Comfortable 3.
Great
k.d. has a gorgeous voice and this is a very smooth, clean production of a torch singer and her laid back chill.
I'd be happy if it was playing in the background at a cafe.
Season of Hollow Love is an incredible song. rest of the album pretty good too
I love the warmth and clarity of her voice, but not a fan of successive sustained notes.
Good
Not a bad album but for me most of the songs are unremarkable. She does have a very beautiful voice.
the only thing I knew about kd lang before this was her performance on peewees Christmas special - this reminded me a lot of another album I got on this list Cole’s corner by Richard Hawley - not the style of music I reach for but I appreciate it and that she is a very good singer
I remember Constant Craving from when I was young but the rest of the album is not my thing. I don't like country at all, and the rest wasn't much better.
Highlights: Miss Chatelaine, Season of Hollow Soul, Outside Myself, Constant Craving Not a genre I would go out of my way to listen to, but a couple of tracks did stand out and overall it was a fine experience. The beginning of the record is tame but the conclusion is strong. There is however a noticeable dip in quality in the middle of the record, given the monotony and dullness of the tracks. Compared to the previous records on the list, this one featured an interesting inclusion of the accordion in a couple of tracks (for instance on Constant Craving) which gave it a fresh sound. It presented itself with an air of sophistication, but at the same time there were mild country sounds (in example Outside Myself) and it was interesting to see a combination of these aesthetics. Lyrically it's a weep-fest and at some point I gave up on following the themes on anything but my highlights. The vocalist is great, but the material was more on the subtle side so she didn't get to show off as much. I don't see myself revisiting this record as a whole, but if I had to it would have to be laaate at night. This sound just doesn't click with me if I'm not in my pajamas.
Forgettable, but pretty nice at times
First 4 songs were hitting
Poppiger Cabaret Sound. Schöne Stimme. Texte müsste ich nochmal genauer hören - so erstmal ein gut zu hörendes aber nicht besonders aufregendes Werk. 3/5
Lidt for 90er arrangementer og lidt for musical vokal, men ellers meget lækkert.
Beautiful voice, talented singer-song writer. Just wish she had a little more "umph" because on the whole, she's pretty boring.
Already don't remember it
Pretty classy. Doubt I’ll come back to it a ton but it was enjoyable enough.
Great voice. Not my kind of music, though.
Alright theartery
Liked this more than I thought I would but I still don’t think I’d choose to put this on. Works nicely as background music with its mellow vibe though.
2/10, 20%
A bit one note for me.
I don't have a lot to say about this. Really really really lovely vocals, but musically just... unremarkable. "Constant Craving" is a TUNE. Straight 3. Great background.
I was worried when I saw this one. I had nothing to be worried about. It isn't anything exciting or novel. Just a respectable Canadian country album. I normally dislike country and I didn't hate this, so they did something right. I couldn't tell you what that is if I tried.
I enjoyed the first four tracks a lot more than the rest of the album, even "Constant Craving" which was an ok pop song elevated by her singing, but otherwise kinda unremarkable. I think she's at her best in a slower, more moody style vs any of the faster tracks with more traditional 4/4 style pop or country beats. She's got a wonderful voice, but I don't think it's enough to really carry the songwriting here in all the styles she presents. It's fine enough, certainly inoffensive and well performed, but nothing special.
This is a real nice soulful white lady singing about the problems she has in Canada. Not really written for me. Pretty chill.
Pleasant, middle of the road songs. They wash over you without too much of a lasting impact. However, ‘Constant Craving’ is an excellent song and her voice is wonderful. I also quite liked Miss Chatelaine.
Aivan uusi tuttavuus. Herkkää musaa, jossa on vähän vaikutteita countrysya.
The Good: We are ingenue… so posh! The Bad: Being posh is over-rated. The Ugly: No caps on artist name, yet album does have one…!!?!?!?!! I remember KD back in the ‘90s, not fondly, but not badly either… just kind of bland. I guess that is what this album is… kind of bland. Yes, she has a great voice. Yes, the production quality on this album is excellent. Yes, this album contains a massive hit… And yet I struggle to find something that would make me want to listen to it again… which isn’t a good thing. As I am pretty certain that we will not be seeing another K.D. Lang (that’s how you should spell it, damnit) album on this list, I will go ahead and try to surprise myself by listening to her freshman attempt as it seems to be a C&W thing, which I think suits her voice much better than this album did. 3*
Better than exoected
Easy listening. While k.d. has a phenomenal voice and sound, I'm not sure the departure from country serves them as well as it could.
Reminds me of Adele or Lewis Capaldi - undoubtably beautiful voices performing songs I don’t wish to hear.
This isn’t anything I’d pick out to listen to. It’s all soft crooning pop songs. She is a great singer. She just doesn’t sing anything I want to hear.
Yet another album for which I didn’t have quite enough time. I will likely come back to this and write a more in-depth review in the future, but just based on first impressions, I really liked this. It’s not quite my genre, but for its genre it’s very enjoyable. 3.5/5, but closer to a 3 than a 4. I might change this up to a 4 later if it grows on me.
Alright, first repeat artist of 2026! And it's... k.d. lang? Really? I mean, I'm not complaining. I like this album. It's just... why does she have 2 albums here and why is she giving me my first album of the year from an artist that I've previously gotten an album from? Speaking of previous album, I do prefer Ingénue over Shadowland. I thought Shadowland was just kind of okay, but Ingénue is an improvement. I don't love this album, but I do like it enough to call it better and give it a song on my "Best of the Album" playlist, which is not an honor that I gave to Shadowland. The song, of course, is the closer "Constant Craving." Pretty good song there if I do say so myself. The style here is probably the big part that I enjoy more, as the singing and writing are pretty much on par with Shadowland. Something about the country-esque elements of Shadowland just didn't do it for me. This album definitely leans more in the classic pop direction and I enjoy it more as a result. I think k.d. lang's voice fits this style better as well. I don't have much more to say. It's not only a solid improvement over past work, but a respectable album in its own right. High 3/5.
Fake sapphic, I know, but apart from a couple of standouts (Season of Hollow Soul, Constant Craving), a lot of this stuff is just... There? Like, I don't not like it, but idk if I'd actively listen to it.
Nice voice
eautiful voice. It is a shame to see it wasted on such bland music.
This was a beautiful album — beautiful voice, beautiful harmonies, beautiful production — but it’s adult contemporary through and through. Jazzy, country-infused adult contemporary, yes, but still sort of a snoozefest by design. Not my thing, but I almost feel bad rating it only 3 stars when I can tell how objectively good it is.
Entspannend. 3,5/5
This is a very solid 3. Her voice is amazing, but the songs kind of all bled into each other by the end. I like the notes of jazz throughout, but overall its just not my type of music.
