Not too bad

Everybody in the world has Frampton Comes Alive. If you lived in the suburbs you were issued it. It came in the mail with samples of "Tide” -W. Campbell

Really hard to hear this as anything but cliche. But I guess I can see why people have played the shit out of this for the last 49 years.

Quintessential 3.5 for me; although, I have to admit only the last side would get any play, if I had this album.

Overall, a decent listen especially for a Live album showing that Frampton wasn't just a recording artist. The use of the voice box was interesting as well and added to the music at times to push it just close to a 3.

I am not sure if I've listened to this whole thing before. It's good but I've heard a few of the best ones so much already. And I don't care for the talk box or whatever it is.

Ha, kinda mid but added a star for completely injudicicious use of the Voice Box!

I recognised a bunch of the early songs (had no idea “baby, I love your way” was his) and was somewhat enjoying it, but it dragged on into the inevitable mid-70s borefest the album cover hinted at, although the final track was a high point and a saving grace to be fair, as it delivered a small faces vibe from the driving bassline If this is essentially a “best of” Frampton’s work up to that point, then I dare not think how dull I’d have found his studio albums to be. It’s not bad, it’s not great, but far too much half decent to mediocre 70s rock like this makes this list and frankly I’m finding it all a bit boring. 2.5 rounded up

cool moments but overall not my cup of tea. most annoying rendition of Jumping Jack Flash i've heard in this lifetime.

Eigentleche es relativ es average Rock-Albom met Show me the way ond Baby, I love your way (was jedoch es Cover esch). Söscht halt relativ langwiilig drom abgrondet 3 *

Fine. Classic classic rock. Classic. Classic. Classic. Over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. Again. Show. Me. The. Way.

I know this album is a big deal, but so far it’s not grabbing me. This definitely gets better as it goes. Still not sure about the hype, but I am enjoying it.

I like Frampton, but I'm not crazy about this one

Enjoyed it a bit more than I thought I would. Doobie Wah was👍

Finally, the record that is in every parent's collection. I don't even know if there's any non-live recorded Peter Frampton music and I don't care

++: Introduction/Something's Happening, Doobie Wah, I Wanna Go to the Sun, Penny for Your Thoughts, Jumpin' Jack Flash +: Show Me the Way, Baby, I Love Your Way, Do You Feel Like We Do +-: It's a Plain Shame, Wind of Change, (I'll Give You) Money, Shine On, Lines on My Face -: All I Want to Be (Is by Your Side) 6,3/10

Yeah it’s fine

Know the album, and only know the artist from this album. Definitely a middle album for me. Not something I actively go out of my way to listen to, and I know the popular track, but also will stick around if it happens to come up. No strong negative or positive opnions on this, just not my favorite.

Drei bis vier – Show Me the Way, Baby, I Love Your Way

surprisingly enjoyable

Decent mid-70s rock. Not totally my thing, and don't love Frampton, but this was better than I thought it was going to be. I like his acoustic instrumentals. Funny that his original version of Baby I love you way is definitely worse than the Big Mountain cover. Probably won't go back to. Definitely not something that should be one of biggest selling albums ever, but then again, I've never really had mainstream taste.

This sound like getting stuck on a tube between stations with no signal for half an hour. Wait, no, just me.

Dad Rock at it's finest. There are some amazing songs on this album and Peter is one of the most influential guitarist. Still, overall a tad boring ...

Pretty cool! Kind of reminiscent of the Eagles and the Grateful Dead. Baby I Love Your Way is one of those tunes I’ve sung around the house for years but I didn’t know any of the others, second favourite was Show Me the Way.

Not my nostalgia.

Was alright

Good guitar work, but not really gripping me. 3.5 stars

Growing up, I heard "Baby, I Love Your Way", "Show Me the Way", and "Do You Feel Like We Do?" too many times to count, and I always thought it was weird that I never heard anything from Peter Frampton that wasn't on this album. In the pre-internet days, I just assumed he had one live album and that was it. But, no, he has a pretty large discography. What I learned after listening to this album was that the songs I knew were pretty much the extent of Frampton's good songs. And I'm not even that high on "Do You Feel Like We Do?". So, what I've learned is that unless it's a live track with the word "Way" in the title, it's probably not great. There's a few other songs here that aren't terrible, but mostly it's just anonymous sounding 70s rock that could be anyone from the Doobie Brothers to Aerosmith. 3 stars.

“Dooo-oooooo YOU… feeeel the way I do” If you and your band feel that the record you’re playing on is an alrightish classic rock double live LP with a few choice highlights, cool novelty talkbox but that your main only essential moment is your appearance on the Simpsons Loolapalooza episode then yep I do feel the way you do.

Not for me

An album that changes the world. It’s not especially great but it is very good. Frampton only really got his due as a musician in the last decade or so. And even here the musicianship is top notch. The songs are well crafted and performed. It sells bajillions showing the industry you could sell bajillions. Worth a listen. 3.5

A record I saw in every 2nd-hand record store or stall (when we had such things), never listened to it then, and now I have. Weird how he only seems to have existed through this one record? Anyway, it is serviceable I guess

Good listen with great Melodies. 6.4/10.

i bet this whips ass if you're a framphead, but to me, it's just another mid live album

this is a weird one. the three big songs are pretty good but the rest of the album is all over the place. all i remember hours after listening is the long guitar solos and extensive use of talk box. i'm a millennial so i truly can't comprehend whatever collective brainwave was going around in 1976 to make this the most popular album of the year. also shocked to learn that the radio-listening american public would tolerate a song longer and less popular than hey jude as a single. but i guess things were just Different Back Then. i do love the album cover and title though. Frampton Comes Alive! then He returns to His eternal slumber forevermore. and yet he keeps getting resurrected, most recently, at least as far as my limited knowledge is aware, for dolly parton's 2023 rockstar album (which is great btw, go check it out). poor guy just keeps coming alive whether he wants to or not, like some kind of framptonstein's monster all right, all right, i'll see myself out. favorites: show me the way, baby, i love your way, i wanna go to the sun, do you feel like we do

The guitar solos were great. And the talk box thing is cool. But there was too little of either in the two hours of this album. I would say about 30 minutes of it was great, and the rest just dragged on forever.

paar coole bekannte songs dabei 3.5

Man! That guy's guitar is talking! HEY! My shoes are talking too...

Was already familiar with some of Frampton's live stuff like most. I mean, a few of these live tracks are seen as "definitive" versions due to being released as singles. Listening to this from start to finish was a pretty enjoyable experience. Probably one of the better live albums in terms of the quality and production done to make it so. The guitar playing and of course the talk box are obvious highlights. Although with any live album, plenty of "flair" and "fluff" are added to some of the tracks too. The "Jumpin' Jack Flash" cover was also a bit odd too.

Lengthy wankery, but the hits are huge.

I know my wife was pretty excited when I mentioned this was our album of the day. Mainly for the 3 biggest songs off the album. But it does make me think of beautiful summer days in our redneck pool or watching the sun set in our favorite vacation place, Puerto Rico. Her first request as we watch our first sunset in PR, coming up soon, will be Baby I Love Your Way. And for that, probably my favorite song off this album. I have heard a lot of folks say this is the greatest live album ever. Count me as one of those who disagree. Thought the album was pretty average. As a kid who grew up on classic rock, I have to say I'm burnt out on Do You Feel Like We Do and Show Me The Way. But I'll never tell that to Mindy. There were a couple surprises for me though. I really liked Money and Shine On. Otherwise, pretty ordinary and pretty long for this listener. Overall, this was solid. Nothing great and as long as Mindy's with me and we're enjoying a beautiful summer day/night I know she ask to put on some Frampton, in reality one of the top 3 songs, but he will get played and I'll enjoy the songs with her. 3.5

You know what was a monster? Frampton Comes Alive, 1976. Is there anyone you knew that didn't have that record? I don't think so. BAM. Okay have a good winter. 3

It was fine the whole way through, but nothing excited me.

Fav song: Baby, I Love Your Way It's ok. Really well played for a live album but the actual musical content isn't really my cup of tea - but fair play to Frampton, some of these songs are really well written and developed from their Blues inspirations.

Baby I Love Your Way... and that's all. Still ok.

I think one of the reasons this was so popular is that it’s easy to put on in the background while making out, and not feel like you’re missing out too much. I went for a walk while listening, and spent most of the time imagining I was with the girl I fancy and what I’d say to seduce her if she were there with me. It’s what I imagine teenagers in 1976 doing, and I’m now picturing how difficult making out to music must have been in the LP era, having to stop every 20 minutes to turn the record over, that must have ruined so much momentum over the course of so many lifetimes

I'm far more fond of good recorded live albums than studio. Good rock music and use of talk box is fun. Idk if I would listen to his other stuff but it's a nice morning routine album.

I do love a good live album and this one is very enjoyable. Frampton is a good songwriter, and fantastic guitarist who sounds like he is having fun on stage. There is a huge hint of Dad rock, but Dad rock at its best. Baby I love your way is a fantastic song. Favourite song: Do you feel like we do was brilliant. What a guitar solo to finish the gig. Least favourite: I really didnt enjoy the jumpin jack flash cover Album artwork: Cool cover

a very all right album for me, the guitar playing is great but most of the rest of each song feels stock standard rock, which isnt the worst thing

I'm not sure why I didn't like this as much as I thought I would. It could be because it was a double live album where some songs would drag on longer than they should. There were a few cool guitar riffs, but overall not too exciting.

The guitar playing is pretty fun — and unlike Frampton’s musical inheritors, he knew the value of keeping his solos to a tasteful length! — but the songs got a little shouty and monotonous.

Is that Peter fucking Frampton?

Like sure. Fine. I get it? But maybe the problem is that I don’t? Plenty of bops in here but ultimately left a bad taste in my mouth.

Decebt

Helt ok

5/10 - It was alright rock music. Idk he did not stand out to me at all

Solid some songs missing on spotify

I liked this music when it was new (and I was little). It was just, you know, the music on the radio, and I liked listening to the radio. Listening now, with a more critical ear, it is unsophisticated and unremarkable but entirely pleasant and catchy. One could certainly argue that it is dreck, but for me it crystalizes a moment in time which I remember fondly (which gets it an extra star). Also, since it is making me feel those nostalgic 70's vibes, I will also say RIP Jimmy Carter, GOAT ex-president, prince among men.

It was exactly the sound I expected after seeing the album cover, it’s very 1970’s rock, not horrible not great 3/5

I’ve never actually listened to Frampton Comes Alive. It’s probably one of the more well known live albums. Although it’s strange because outside of this album you don’t hear much talk about Peter Frampton any more. This was enjoyable, a bit on the long side but I never got tired of it. I didn’t really love the music either. It was good, the band is talented and Frampton is good at the guitar, it’s just most of the songs were okay at best. Penny for your thoughts was sick though, too bad it’s the shortest song on the album.

Thanks, I hate it. I mean, I understand that this is a landmark album which defines a sound for the decade and everything, but its just plain awful. I'll go to 3 stars to acknowledge its "importance" but I'll be damned if it gets a better than average rating from me. 3/5

I did indeed listen to this album and I think I enjoyed it?

Not as bad as anticipated.

I'll be the first to admit, I really dislike live concert albums. There are a handful of artists I have that I actually own their live work. Frampton Comes Alive! is actually one of my favorite live performance albums of all time. Is it perfect? No, but it's a good listen. I normally skip live songs when they come up on my playlist shuffle, but for the most part I stick with Frampton. Highlights: Doobie Wah - obvious rip off of the Doobie Brothers, but it's great. Lines On My Face - Just beautiful. Show me the Way - amazing song, the first song I ever heard from this album. Baby, I Love Your Way - Instant classic. Do You Feel Like We Do - Surprisingly, this performance doesn't end the concert, instead it's on Disc 2 at the #3 slot. Oh well, this song is perfect in every way. Amazing guitar solo to end it. 3.25/5 (Pretty good rating for a live album)

I loved this album for a little while. It introduced me to the ‘talk box’ effect used on Framptons guitar. Back in my band days, Julian (band member) tried to build one using a funnel, some plumbing pipes and masking tape, looked and sounded fucking ridiculous! An awesome effect when used sparingly. Listen to David Gilmour’s solo on Pigs (three different ones) and keep talking. Otherwise this album is just a very ‘standard’ 70s rock cheesy overplayed (and over purchased!) live album.

I haven’t heard this full album before except for a dozen almost identical albums on this list in the 300 we’ve done so far. We get it Dimery, you love 70s rock - please stop banging on about it! This isn’t an awful album, it’s just so samey and I’m also not a big fan of live albums. 2.5

Frampton Comes Alive! is a double live album by Peter Frampton, originally released in 1976. I see this album so many times in record stores it's not even funny. I never gave it a chance until now. First off, the guitar playing on here is really solid. I was pleasantly surprised. The only thing is that a lot of the songs sound the same, even down to the lyrical content. Not bad for some live 70s pop though!

Screeeeeeeam

Classis 70s

Surprisingly enjoyable

good live album

I'm a child of the 80s and I remember many of these songs from my childhood. They feel "comfortable" to me, like background music in our family car trips. Listening to the whole album didn't do much for me though. I actually kept waiting for it to be over. Either I just wasn't in the right mood for it while listening or I found it "boring". I would probably have enjoyed the show live, but listening now I could not get that excited over it. I am definitely not into the live version, the audio was not great and I would much rather have listened to the studio version.

Steady 3.6

OK, a bit dated, good energy in the music but a little tame

Pretty good, he’s a great guitarist

A solid pop rock listen. Pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this album, certainly was not expecting to. One too many ballads for a live album in my opinion. I do also find it funny that my favorite songs were all from the same original studio album, so maybe I should give that a listen next. Top tracks: Show Me The Way; Baby, I Love Your Way; (I'll Give You) Money

It’s an album that has been the butt of many jokes

This is enjoyable, just not particularly memorable outside a couple of tracks that have filtered down through the years and still got regular airplay. Not enough here to get me overly excited about it.

Some interesting songs, but didn’t stand out

Some classic 70s glam rock and some great guitar solos. Standouts: Jumping Jack Flash, Baby, I Love Your Way and Show Me The Way.

Peter Frampton is the only artist I can think of that has multiple major hits that still get consistent radio play today, and all of them are live recordings. I double checked against Wikipedia, and I don't recall ever hearing "I'm In You" before, so I think all the songs with staying power are not just on this album, but specifically from this album. I don't think I've ever heard the studio versions. So, how is it? Well, comparing the studio versions of the three big hits,* "Show Me the Way" sounds looser, and Frampton gives a much better vocal performance, which is surprising, because you could just do another take in the studio. "Baby I Love Your Way" is also better in the live version, though not as notably. This is definitely more the backing band and the vamping working a lot better, although, again, the vocals seem mixed wrong. And "Do You Feel Like We Do" is just a song that inherently works live, as it can play off the audience, in a similar way that Jackson Browne's "Stay" doesn't really have much of a point on a studio album. *Asterisk just to say I grew up on classic rock radio, as it was the only thing other than Christian music that wouldn't make my mom clutch her pearls, so I'm probably biased toward the version I know. It is quite a good live recording, and I can see why it took off. In addition to just Frampton and the band sounding like they are actually enjoying playing music, the vamping and talk box work have become iconic to Frampton, for good reason. Still, it has that thing I hate most about live recordings, I don't want to hear people screaming over the music I actually want to hear. Is that something people like? Ultimately, it's fine. I couldn't really recommend any tracks outside the hits, but I do think a close listen (along with looking up about half the songs to compare the studio versions) has given me a bit more of an understanding of the live album supporters. It's one of the few times that I believe the live environment made a better work than the studio. That's rare outside of pieces that rely on improvisation or a large arrangement.

It’s good. But I could live without it. 3/3

It's pretty good as far as live albums go. Feels like a fucking eternity to play through though

Legalzinho! Não tem todas as músicas no spotify

I was never into this album the way some of my peers were. It’s solid, but I think a lot of the popularity came from the talk box. I always thought Frampton was good -not great until I saw him 6-7 years ago. He was fantastic live.

So this was a pioneer of live album success, huh? Sort of repetitive, but I sure would have liked to be there live when they rip out of that voicebox solo into the jam on Do You Feel...

This is really very middle of the road 70s rock isn’t it? I mean it feels good. These are pretty empty calories.

B Something's Happening 3 Doobie Wah 3 Show Me The Way 4 It's A Plain Shame 3 All I Want To Be (Is By Your Side) 4 Wind Of Change 4 Baby, I Love Your Way 4 I Wanna Go To The Sun 5 Penny For Your Thoughts 3 (I'll Give You) Money 4 Shine On 3 Jumping Jack Flash 3 Lines On My Face 3 Do You Feel Like We Do 4 I used to really like this one when I started getting into classic rock during HS, even bought the vinyl. But I just don't really care about it anymore and it's spring cleaning, so it's getting sold.

Great guitar and riffs. Lots of talent. Feels a bit dated even for the time though. Also don't usually prefer live albums. I definitely don't seek them out on my own usually. Highlights: Show Me The Way

Wah...wah wah wah wah wah...wah wah wahhh

-not too bad especially for a live album. Had some enjoyable songs, though a bit of it was corny and blended together. Could’ve done with some major cutting down but hey it was pretty enjoyable to listen to while drunk and doing my psychology homework -Favorites are It’s A Plain Shame, I Wanna Go To The Sun, and (I’ll Give You) Money

Bra solid live rock album, gillar talkboxen

If you think I have the time to try to understand what Peter Frampton is all about *again", between my insane workload these days and the fact that so many great albums are released this year (2024)? Think again. My personal memory is that "Show Me The Way" is a memorable hit, but that everything else is just fodder for fans of old hags reeking of mildew spurting out bland jam songs after bland jam songs. But I might be wrong. Saving that one for later. The thing is, as of now, I'd rather "come alive" for 2024 than that sort of *apparent*, old meaningless nonsense. Plus it's a live album, and I think most of them take up slots that would be better used for studio albums. And the vocals on it look distant and artificial. I don't want to think of an arena when I listen to music. I want something cinematic. And I'm pretty sure I won't find it here. 3?/5 for the purposes of this list of essential albums. 8?/10 for more general purposes (5 + 3?) Number of albums left to review: 46 Number of albums from the list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 411 Albums from the list I *might* include in mine later on: 240 (including this one?) Albums from the list I won't include in mine: 305

Awesome live album

Automatic one-star deduction before I even start listening because it's a live album. The recording, production, and performance will all have to earn that star back no matter what album it is. Was this album bad? No. Was this album exceptional? Also no. 3 stars I say, and that may be one too many.

A lot of classic songs on here that we have all heard. Pretty awesome live album, great classic rock.

Lots of memories of this one.

oscillates between "getting on my nerves" and "yeah, groooovey"

In the suburbs you were issued it

Overall pretty mild but still iconic. Still not really doing much for me.

Love a couple of the radio hits but the rest is dull 70s guitar rock with an awful Stones cover.

It's a good album. Not one of the best live albums but, good enough.

I like two of the tracks: Show Me The Way and Do You Feel Like We Do. The talking guitar thing is kind of a gimmick but it’s fun. Interesting that it was a live album that propelled them to fame.

The dad rock sound wears thin towards the last third, but enjoyed a good chunk of this - almost against my will.

I haven't heard anything from Peter Frampton for a long time. I don't particularly like his music either. A few songs aren't bad though. It was nice to hear "Baby, I Love Your Way" again. But it also sounds very flat in the recording. Maybe I'm used to a larger sound volume by now or maybe it was just normal at the time to achieve a rather thin sound in live recordings. But that wasn't the case with other bands. 3/5

3/5. Charismatic front-man and classic 70's rock creates a chill live experience. Some cool solos and musicianship in the songs, most are pretty simple though. The crowd is the loudest I have heard a crowd on a live album and I think that was intentional. The production uses the crowd to enhance the songs with a solidarity energy. Would these songs sound as good on a studio album? Probably not, but I guess that's why this one is on this list and not the other ones. At face value, this was a fun album and a good full listen but I don't think it was perfect. Last song goes hard but the rest of the album isn't good enough to make up for it. Best Song: Do You Feel Like We Do, Show Me The Way, Baby I Love Your Way,

Enjoyable throughout, quality classic rock

Amazing on guitar...amazing. Beyond that, its cool and probably would have been a good concert but nothing that is life changing

Yea, that was nice

Better than I expected?

It’s a lot of guitar solos. A lot. Show Me the Way is nice. Wind of Change, too. Clearly, there is talent here. Clearly, this was hugely influential. There’s even solid songwriting. It’s good. But I could live without it.

Have on vinyl. A good live album, but nothing especially standout. Solid guitar with some weak tracks

Well, I've finally done it. I've finally listened to Frampton Comes Alive, the album that I've been hearing about both for good and ill my whole life. It was fine, but I'd already heard the best part, where his guitar starts talking about how it feels 3/5

There are the Frampton tunes that I've heard all my life and they're fine. But the rest of this for me is generic classic rock - not a bad vibe but no stand outs.

I feel this has made it more due to it's ubiquity than any other quality. It's fine, no more, no less. Decent classic rock with a couple of big numbers in there. I remain baffled as to why, of all live releases, this one gained so much traction. The vocoder stuff is tight as fuck though; that I will admit.

I don't know much about Peter Frampton, and I may be stupid, but one thing that has always confused me is that it sounds like he is playing to a pretty big audience that love him and know all of his songs, but this is also his breakout album???? something doesn't add up here. Not really sure why this site lists "Hard Rock" as one of this album's genres. This is some of the softest rock out there. This album was a little dorkier than I expected, but it is fine.

My parents were at this concert but did not know each other at the time. This is such a classic live album.

I have played guitar since I was 12 years old. I've lost count of how many times people said to me over the years, "Oh you're a guitarist, you must love Frampton Comes Alive" Sure, Frampton is a very competent guitarist and this album is by no means bad. But I don't quite get why people think of it as a standout guitar album when there are so many others that did it better during that era. That being said, it's a fine 70's rock album and enjoyable enough listen.

Fine. Which is how everyone feels about this album.

Pete is ok, I prefer the recordings that aren't live tho

Dad rock done right, zeg maar. Opgebiecht: Heb zelfs een nummertje opgeslagen 7/10 Highlights: Baby, I Love Your Way Do You Feel Like We Do

Nice recording, not sure if the songs match the hype

Pure Seventies.

A fine sounding live album. The hits are really good but other than that yea 70s dad rock.

This was fine, albeit a bit excessive in running time for an artist that I only know the radio hits. Standard classic 70s rock vibe.

Middle of the road rock album. Nothing great, but nothing bad either

Yeah, fine. Not bad, not particularly good. Listenable, but fairly middle of the road, and not much better than that.

Impressive guitar work but not a lot else. Wasn't bad overall

fun, solid, technically apt. maybe a smidge on the long side, some songs aren't as memorable as others. worth listening to to appreciate the reference in waynes world 1.

Better than I feared. I always pictured him as a cheesy singer. It was better than that.

#47, decent live album with of course the smash hit 'Show Me The Way'. Funnily, yesterday was the live album of Deep Purple and this one made more sense to me.

This should be right up my street, but it just didn’t quite hit it for me.

I was not excited when I saw this come up but I can’t lie, that was pretty sick. Great guitar, great melodies, and great energy. Best song: Show Me the Way

Yndislegt 70s rokk.

Peter Frampton is a very talented guitarist. I just wish he made music that was more interesting and less cliche. The arrangements, the lyrics, even his voice. It all felt so corny and cliche. He’s an incredibly talented guitarist, that can’t be ignored. But couldn’t he use his powers for good? Anyway. I just was underwhelmed and I didn’t really care. Three stars for his talent alone. Standout tracks: Something’s Happening, All I Want to be Is (By Your Side), I Wanna Go to the Sun

Such a cool live album, I adore Frampton's guitar playing so much especially on do you feel like we do. The talking guitar is an awesome signature sound

Music to have smelly unprotected sex in the back of an El Camino to.

A former boss of mine once described the cultural ubiquity of this album by saying that everyone owned this album, even if they didn't own a record player. First time listening to it straight through, but I've heard a number of the singles (Show Me The Way; Baby, I Love Your Way; Do You Feel Like We Do). Out of the gate, on Something's Happening, the band feels a bit out of sync with one another. Recording quality leaves a bit to be desired -- the vocals have a distant quality to them. Things settle in a bit by Doobie Wah, which actually just sounds like a Doobie Brothers song in melody (Listen to the Music). It's a Plain Shame is a fairly straightforward classic rock jam with plenty of satisfying fretwork. Some solid tunes in here, but not many I would go out of my way for. Album closes on a high note (IMO) with Do You Feel Like We Do, and expansive jam featuring a talk box solo that. Solid enough live collection from a simpler time. Really enjoy certain points in this album (particularly the closer), but also feel like a lot of others fall into a generic realm. Not something I would go out of my way for in most circumstances, but certainly fine. High 3 / 5 for me.

There was a lot to get though on this and I didn't really get onboard with it. Mid 70's stadium rock done well, some tunes I recognised but nothing for me here

You know, this grew on me over the course of the day listening on loop. Mostly it's the excellent and unusual guitar.

This was fun, but live albums just usually aren’t my thing.

I was going to rate this low, as it's a live album, but it's a fine piece of work. Not stella, but fine.

Frampton Comes Alive! is nice and easy middle of the road 70s easy listening Dad rock, really. The live factor makes it a bit more interesting but we've had some spectacular live albums and this doesn't come close, it does however show him and his band off as accomplished musicians who are just about interesting enough to not outlast their stay. Wind Of Change maybe my favourite of the songs that aren't global hits because it's simple and stripped back and doesn't do anything with silly effects, which are otherwise a bit overused. Easy low 3.

I think this album had to be live to get close to making it onto this list - the music isn't particularly groundbreaking, original, or even that exciting, but the live audience makes it feel quite infectious. It's quite hard to listen to this for too long without smiling and thinking about how much fun the audience were having. For that it gets a comfortable 3.

This is a tough one. I don’t think I’ve ever listened to a Peter Franktown studio album, this is definitely his most famous album. It’s good, the quality is pretty good, I love his guitar sound. At times the music borders on dad rock for sure. Live albums need to improve upon the studio versions to be any good in my opinion, more energy, more dynamic, different riffs etc… does Frampton Comes Alive? I have no idea. The talking guitar is cool, Show Me The Way is great. I enjoyed it more than expected. 6.0/10

Couple great songs, but not my favorite.

Decent songs, pretty good melody's, rocks pretty hard toward the end. Good soloing. Overlong than a mug, and nothing to explain its remarkable and noncharacteristic popularity for young PF. Hair? Talkbox?

Ihan viihdyttävä setti ja meinasi kepeydellään mennä huomaamatta ohi.

Some good songs and I like the live feel but wouldnt listen to the whole album again

Dad rock central, but enjoyable all the same. Stand out track Do you Feel Like We Do 3/5

Decent, decent yeah dunno what else to say not really my jam mate but it was good

Likable but a little lame, and more than a bit tame. The overall effect is of abiding average-ness. It's not innovative, not all that interesting and utterly unthreatening, even if it's not hard to see why the big hits became so (especially "Love Your Way" [and Lisa Bonet's version may be better than this one]). The "JJF" cover is unimaginative. The hook is great on "Do Like We Do" but the voicebox noodling was heavy-dumb 40+ years ago and remains just as much so today (and too long by a factor of approximately 3.5) (One didn't fully appreciate the similarity to "Who Are You" as much then as now, particularly relative to the opening lyrics.) "Lines On My Face" is a highlight, the cut most like a hidden gem in this collection. Frampton feels like a lottery winner – one wasn't sure what all the fuss was about in the mid-'70s and it's not any clearer now.

A decent but long live album that just feels so relaxing. I imagine being at this show must have been genuinely incredible. Talkbox jumpscare was greatly appreciated.

A little too long. I love the use of the talkbox though. Textbook example of corny late 70’s rock. He took all the sauce out of Jumping Jack Flash. Favorite tracks were Doobie Wah, Show Me The Way, Baby, I Love Your Way, and Do You Feel Like We Do.

Frampton (sem á sama afmælisdag og ég) byrjaði og endaði sinn feril á því að spila Buddy Holly lög. Mjög viðeigandi að hans plata hafi komið beint á eftir Buddy Holly plötu. Glimrandi albúm sem ég get ekki annað en fílað en svo er höfundaréttarvesen þannig að ég fæ ekki að hlusta á allt. Það dregur hana niður í meðalmennsku. Einhverjum þarf ég að refsa fyrir höfundaréttardraslið og af hverju þá ekki stjörnugjöf á algjörlega ótengdri síðu, með athugasemdum skrifuðum á tungumáli sem þeir sem þurfa að átta sig á mistökum sínum geta ekki einu sinni lesið?

Bella 'Show me the way', in generale un po' lungo e un concerto per cui non avrei speso più di 15 euro

For live album, it was OK

Bland, boring and middle of the road. Probably why it was so successful. Can’t be bothered doing reviews for the likes of this

I've never been a fan of live albums. Even of bands I dearly know and love, let alone for artists I barely know. It gets raised by a star thanks to the hits.

Normally not a fan of live albums when unless a massive fan of the music already, but was intrigued when I read that this was the album that got him fame, after his previous ones didn't sell to well. Sadly it met my initial expectation. I feel like I'd need to know the original version inside out to get the emotion and intricacies behind the live version. Audio quality wasn't amazing although I'm sure it was great for a live recording back in the 70s. Bonus track was the best on the album, ironically the only non live one. 2.5*

I have a memory of being around 10 years old, riding somewhere with my friend Greg in the back of his dad's car and his dad was playing this CD. During "Do You Feel" he turned up the volume and said to us "He's making his guitar talk!!!" I didn't realize until years later that Peter Frampton was actually singing through a talk box and thought he had figured out some wild technique to produce those sounds. It's still a cool sounding effect though.

Has not aged well. Some nice tracks done instantly forgetable

This album did not make me come alive. I only know two songs and Frampton seems like the poor man’s almost everyone else. From that era I mean wow I guess.

3.5 - pretty good but short of wonderful

Whenever I see a live rock album I start rubbing my hands like Rick Ross cos I know I’m giving it a three before I even listen to it.

Not bad for a live, but still quite average. Other than Show Me the Way, no real standout songs.

Great music for a warm spring day. Reminds me of the music my dad and uncle played outside on a nice day. No song sticks out but I'd also put any of them on again. Very impressive guitar playing.

One of the best live albums ive heard

I love the live version of Show Me The Way

Simpsons: Yes

Never heard of this guy before. Baby, I Love Your Way and Show Me The Way are decent songs that I recognised. The rest of the album sounded like the kind of music I like, but nothing really stood out. There were some good guitar bits in there, I'll listen again at some point to see if I get into it. For now though, it's not quite enough to get 4 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

It was an alright album. i'm up the biggest fan of the live album. Also not a fan of his cover of jumpin' jack flash

The "live" aspect didn't really enhance this record much.

not for me.

So 70s omg

I mean, it’s Frampton. It’s probably the best version of Frampton, for what that’s worth. It was fine, but I did want to argue with my speakers every time he referenced “rocking,” because I just can’t understand how this was ever considered rock.

I bet Peter got all the ladies

Very good live album. Didn't need to be as long as it was, though.

I didn’t realize how many songs were by him. They were good but just not what I’m super into!

Sigh, more Brit Pop. Knocked along uneventfully.

This was alright may need to check out more music by them.

I didn't expect to recognise so many songs here. Half our car cds are filled with this guy it seems. Anyway, while the music was good, I would prefer if it wasn't a live album.

I'd always been curious about Peter Frampton but never sought out his music. All I knew about him was that he was a school friend (and eventual collaborator) of David Bowie, and that he appeared on an episode of The Simpsons alongside Cypress Hill and Sonic Youth. That was enough to convince me that he must be cool. The actual music hasn't hit as strong as I thought it would. At times, it sounds like waiting room music. It's saved by the expert guitar playing and effects, particularly towards the end of this album. All of that is strong enough that I might eventually give Frampton another shot. But on one listen, it's not quite as strong as I'd hoped.

Une énergie et une joie communicatives.

I can see why this is often considered Frampton best album and one of the best LIVE albums around. Not only is it a wonderful medley of what would become his most iconic tracks…it’s the best version of them. I didn’t even know I knew most of the songs on here. Good stuff

Mooie gitaar solo’s

Okej, ali opet i meh. Najbolje pjesme: 1. Baby, I Love Your Way

rockin

It’s like listening to a treasured piece of history… but alas, I am not the pirate meant for this treasure chest. I can, however, appreciate what Muddy Waters did for music. Fav Songs: I’m Your Hoochie Coochie Man, Baby, Please Don’t Go Least: hmmm

Solid live album. “Oh baby I love your way” cost it at least 0.5 stars.

Electric performance. Crowd is definitely into all of it. I enjoyed this one throughout and that peter frampton can really play the guitar.

Couple of classic songs on this album but not enough to bump it to a 4.

Very unmemorable - I didn't even know when the album ended and it switched to playing random music.

The music itself was good and I was familiar with a lot of songs. Live albums are unnecessary and too long. The studio albums asound better and are better produced. Peter Frampton will always remind me of the Simpsons. Someone already left the perfect review regarding that.

A big slab of 70s guitar music from the golden age of the live album. This one may on fact be /the/ live album. Handful of great singles, some filler tracks and a horrible cover of jumping jack flash.

He's a great guitarist who can obviously put on a good show; however, I didn't find this album overly entertaining. Side note: does someone in the crowd get shot at the 0:53 mark of "Wind of Change?"

I listened to it yesterday, and thought I’d be giving it a four. But not that I’m sitting down to rate it, I can’t remember a bleedin lick of the damn thing. Not that memorable, I guess.

Okay, but not really my thing. I’d maybe appreciate the live performances if I had listened to more Frampton prior to this. Baby I love your way is great though.

3.4 - I'm not sure how I feel about live albums honestly, unless they are the sessions. Really like the songs and some great guitar solo's though

Lines on my face was a bit of a banger. The rest of it was pretty easy listening, some jazzy guitar, mild bops, but didn't blow me away. Decent recording for a live album, wasn't that annoying. Fine bkground music basically.

Me han gustado Wind of change y por supuesto Baby, I love your way.

Feel-good rock from the 70s. It's an easy listen, but not something I would neccessarily need to come back to. 3/5

This was a better than expected live album. Frampton plays the guitar like it owes him money. There are some solid songs on this album and overall it’s better than most Live albums. Not sure how much I’d revisit it other than the few popular songs. 6.4/10

Seichte Gitarren Musik

Live classic rock on the poodly side. Lots of cliche love lyrics. Som shredding from time to time, but nothing too exciting. I think I would enjoy it more as an instrumental. Includes famous single Baby, I Love Your Way.

Sort of what I expected, I think if I was a fan, a show like this would be amazing, man's obviously talented.

it was an ok live album. some niche geetar twanging

I did buy this album when it came out going a bit on Mr Frampton’s previous life with Humble Pie. Unfortunately he had gone all US soft rock and overall the album is something of a let down. I still have the album and truth to say it hasn’t been played much.

bad aged

Not heard of this - 1hr 45 min album that’s live on Apple. Will see about this. Pretty vibey right away, definitely 70s rock. Got a bit bored after a while but didn’t hate it. 3/5.

Peter frampton is fun and a great guitarist so no complaints with this one!

Here’s the thing—I find much of this album rather boring, Frampton’s voice rather limited, and the choice to fade in and out tracks questionable on a live album. Yet, Frampton’s guitar solos are skilled and the use of the talk box is fun. It also does boast a couple bonafide classic track. I’ve vacillated between giving this album 2 or 3 stars, and I think I must give it 3 (thinking of it more as a 2.5 rounded up). I don’t intend to listen to it again, but I certainly wouldn’t turn off the radio just because they were playing one of these songs.

Underligt at det her er så berømt! Lyder som alt andet generisk 70'er rock

Ça va c'est du bon rock sans plus ni moins

Only had a chance to listen once. Not a lot of the live energy was captured, but I’d be willing to listen again to give it a more thorough evaluation. 3/5 for now

Peter Frampton makes great music, Doobie Waah off this album was the highlight for me. But God it being a noisy ass live album made this a slog to get through.

Pretty good live album

Nice one

Yeah I discovered this about 20 years ago, probably spinning off from the Dazed and Confused soundtrack albums. I'd seen the Simpsons episode much earlier and had no idea who he was. Also that poo reggae cover of Baby I Love Your Way in the early 90s. Much later I learned he was working with Bowie during his career nadir in the 80s, Never Let Me Down/Glass Spider tour. Back then I loved Do You Feel Like We Do. Not particularly for the talking guitar but for the whole jam. The rest of the (long) set is kind of so so, a few other decent songs, mainly Show Me the Way, but largely just competent, inoffensive 70s rock. None of which I really needed to hear again but also didn't make me want to turn it off. Absolutely arrow straight down the middle of the road.

Somehow he still maintains a cheese factor in my head.

Well I really enjoyed this record.

Frampton's not really my thing, but this was fine.

This is great for what it is, but I feel like I've heard the hits more than enough for my lifetime, and the rest is good and well-played, but mostly not my style. A little too soft-rocky, maybe.

- enjoyed this way more than I thought I would tbh - couple of songs had cool guitar that really stood out - (I'll Give You) Money - Enjoyable listen

3.5 not a bad album

He’s not going to eat all that watermelon 🍉

Guoguoguoguoguooo I want you show me the way

Better than expected given that it’s live, but 1 hour 46 minutes was more than I needed

tito and dad hits

Pretty good live album.

Rock music works in mysterious ways sometimes. For whatever reason, Frampton Comes Alive is the biggest selling live album of all time. Peter Frampton had previously released a handful of decent, but unspectacular records in the early 70's, so it's success seemed to come out of nowhere. Almost everyone I knew owned this double LP when it was popular and I only recently acquired my own copy from a collection I absorbed. Admittedly, most of the live tracks bested their previously released studio versions (much like Cheap Trick's, Live Budokan), but some of it, besides the hits are dull and feel like filler, like most concerts can be. A solid sounding live album that sprawled out into a double album is questionable (it retailed only $1 more than a single LP), as it could have been even greater as one record. Oh well, it fared pretty well as it was, so who the hell am I to question this.

25th August 2023 Listened during the day on Saturday while driving to and from Cheltenham for windows and football with Barnett. Couple of classics on here (Simpsons do you feel) and frampton is a superb musician with a great voice. Spans quiet folk and exploratory heavier tracks.

This is surely an impressive live album and I get why it is voted as one of the best out there. I just don't find Frampton's music that interesting.

Such a huge album at the time. I remember it being touted as the next big thing after The Beatles. Doesn’t seem to hold up. Fun pop rock songs but lacks depth for me.

nice playing, smooth sound, but not my fav

I swear there's a joke about this album

Didn't expect to like this album, but it was actually a pretty good live performance. I knew very little about Peter Frampton beforehand but recognised some songs. Very solid classic rock.

Helt chill de va lustig sista sång

Aure (live)

Of course there are the hits, and PF is a boss on guitar and vocals, but just didn’t connect with the concert as recorded. Maybe I was on an off day but probably wouldn’t listen again

Ok, not really sure what the fuss is about. I did enjoy the ambience of the concert and audience to take me to the gig. But is it really that special?

Got this in the mail with a sample of Tide. 3.75

Classic arena rock album

Standard rock album with nothing too outstanding, but it's still quite enjoyable.

I leave you with a simple quote from Wayne's World: "Everybody in the world has Frampton Comes Alive. If you lived in the suburbs you were issued it. It came in the mail with samples of "Tide". " Personally 3 stars but I do really get a kick out of his Talk Box thingy.

yesterday was a tough day for getting to music but I threw it on during cooking dinner and it was basically what I expected. Ok, but nothing for me to write home about. admittedly, didn't make it all the way through before I had to tune over to the Yankee game.

This is another one of those albums where I feel like I'm at a party with a big bonfire. The party is well into the night, not quite ready to end and Peter Frampton comes on. Pretty sure my dad had this record while it's not really my thing I did enjoy Doobie Wah, Baby, I Love Your Way, and that final track Do You Feel Like We Do.

I was pretty nonplussed about this to start with, but it did win me over a little as it went on. Hearing a non-reggae version of "Baby, I Love Your Way" is pretty unsettling, even if this is actually the original! Fave track - "Do You Feel Like We Do" - I like the talky guitar effects!

How many can say their classic album is a live album?

Great music, but I don't like listening to crowds shouting.

Nice live performance

Nice. Was not very familiar with the guy. Good stage performance, some nice hits :)

More important to music history than it is to me.

Nice album but nothing special

70's groovin' rock, live in SF!

Cult classic? Not for me.

Overraskende trivelig.

It's pretty good. I'm not entirely sure how it became such a huge success but I can't really knock it either. You know, when I think of Frampton I generally think of his appearance on The Simpsons. It's interesting that all of the musicians that appeared in that episode made this list. (Frampton, Cypress Hill, Smashing Pumpkins)

- Never listened a Frampton album in full before - Thought it was good, if a bit long - Some songs were much better than others - The Jumping Jack Flash cover is horrendous - Fav songs: Baby, I Love Your Way; Show Me the Way, Winds of Change

I'm not big on live albums, but this one was produced very well. I was pleasantly surprised that I recognized some of the songs. Show Me The Way and Baby, I love Your Way were both hits for a reason. Some of the other songs on the album didn't really stand out to me.

I know Peter Frampton is super influential but his music was never really my cup of tea. On this record I feel like so many of these songs sound like they are going through the motions to get to the guitar solo, and then the guitar solo is a pentatonic jam with the same underlying chords as the rest of the track. I don't really love this- if there is such a pull to get to the solo sections, then the solo sections should really stand out. I didn't know that Peter Frampton wrote "Baby, I Love Your Way". It's a great track with a strong hook but I kind of feel like it's got this Jimmy Buffett - "let's retire to Hawaii" kind of boringness to it. The keyboard solo is a standout but it is really short at around 20 seconds. Overall it was a nice album to listen to, it probably deserves a spot on the list, but it's just not really my thing.

Show Me the Way was one of the sounds of summer 1976m, when I was 14. It was great to hear this again and I was looking forward to hearing Frampton Comes Alive, one of the biggest selling live albums (at a time when live albums were very much a thing). I have to say it has not aged brilliantly and some of the songs plod along and get lost in overlong guitar solos.

It was ok. Not totally my thing but not totally not my thing.

The singles are definite standouts, though I would add (I’ll Give You) Money to my list of favorites for being a little taste of metal. I can’t help but feel a studio album compiling these tracks would be more to my taste than the live format, but it was still an enjoyable listen.

Not bad. Doubt I would put on again but was a decent listen. Strong three, weak 4.

Hair goals

j’ai les framptés

Classic 70s! Enjoy your hair while you have it!

Yup. Fun fine good.

Haven't listened to this in years. This type of soft-rock is beginning to sound a bit dated now, but still a few stand-out classics such as "Show Me The Way", "Baby, I Love Your Way" and "Do You Feel Like We Do".

Frampton was never really my thing. A little too young to be mesmerized.

3 estrellas. Sólido concierto en vivo
