Where has this been all my life

REALLY LOVED IT MROE THAN I INITIALLY THOUGHT

yes this is a Melody A.M. great coffee tunes. Remind Me is familiar from somewhere. This album is pretty great electronica. It does just enough to breach into the 5 star club. Mostly because I want to be sure I come back to this one.

I liked this a lot and could tell when the album finished so definitely a full story

great listening experience.

This is a 5 not because it can stand up with the all time greats, but because I loved every second of it. By far, one of my top favorite albums from this generator.

Amazing album! 10/10

Melody A.M. feels like morning captured in sound: soft light, quiet optimism, and the calm between dreaming and waking. It drifts between pure instrumentals, songs sung in half-light, and others suspended in a kind of wordless reverie; vocal cues that shimmer and dissolve before they can fully form. “So Easy” opens with a sleepy grin, jazz-tinged and weightless; “Sparks” glows like meditation; “In Space” dreams of tomorrow’s horizons. By the time “40 Years Back Home” closes, the sun has fully risen. Released in 2001 yet still sounding ahead of its time, Melody A.M. remains Röyksopp’s purest vision as an ode to the future, sung from the quiet heart of morning.

really nice no skips

10/15/25. Not sure why I resonated with this one so much, but I loved it! Really cool electronic music with a lot of range. Remind Me is an old favorite, but definitely enjoyed each track. Will be back for repeat listens, and should give the rest of the catalog a listen.

Moja definicija easy listeninga, mogla bih ovo slušati dan-noć. Instant 5 zvjezdica na prvu, prethodno sam znala nekoliko legendarnih pjesama i sad se fino dopunilo. Bez greške. Jedan od najboljih elektronskih albuma ikad.

Melodies in the morning tend to be something that has been taken for granted these days. For the Norwegian outfit Röyksopp, that is not worth considering. Without having to travel to Bristol or anywhere else in England, they crafted together an easygoing and hard to resist concoction destined to soundtrack idle long drives for car commercials (not a slight, it is probably how music listeners were introduced to them). Melody A.M. is the kind of album that inspires cinematic visualizations, which is helped by the album cover. If they were smart, Röyksopp could build upon this and evolve rather than regurgitate over and over.

I loveeee Röyksopp’s Night Out!! Definitely expanded my taste.

Brilliant front to back

Lovely album

Melody A.M. was an incredibly nice surprise. I always do enjoy a good electronica album and this album did more than enough to scratch that itch. This album is one of those complex, layered and interesting electronic albums that i enjoy so much. It also had some really good work on the bass. This is also one of the few electronica albums that never got repetitive no matter how long the songs got and were still always able to stay in my memory for quite a while. I genuinely don't think i can find a single bad thing to say about it as it just executes every thing so well. This is yet another album that's getting full marks from me. Best Song: Royksopp's Night Out Worst Song: She's So

10 songs, 5 of which were singles, each of which is a perfect wistful, head-nodding little treat. Some nice beats to fill the album out, and one unnecessarily long proggy piece. I missed out at the time because I was going through a heavy phase, but it's a perfect memory lf that time.

This is a 4.5 album to me. I've loved it since it came out. It's mix of chill electronica, some ambient music, some jazz, and just Scandinavian sensibilities fit right in with other great music from Iceland, Sweden, etc.

This album takes me back to my early 20s and the early 2000s electronic scene. This was such a breath of fresh air. At least here in the US, the electronic and rave scene was really blowing up and becoming very commercial. This created a culture where most of the music was focused on trying to be the next big thing, driven by glitz and an obsession with pushing boundaries. During this time, I gravitated towards downtempo music because it separated itself from that flashy appeal and was meant for lounging and relaxing. This was one of those standout albums that truly had its own unique sound, bringing soothing comfort. Even today, this album still sounds just as fresh and enjoyable as it did over 20 years ago.

Pretty great intro to electronic roommate. Kinda hearing some jam band influence

It’s been a family classic for decades, love it. Puts a smile on my face.

Now this, this is bleeps and bloops done right! Chill but still interesting, electronic but varied, and So Easy is one of the tracks of all time - it's been on regular rotation for me pretty much since it came out, and I don't see that changing any time soon :)

One pf the best electronic albums from one of the best eöectronic bands.

The first two tracks very recognisable but I would never have identified them as Royksopp, that's cool. I liked this a lot. It was a very nice time. Fave Tracks: So Easy, Eple, Remind Me 4.5/5

Great to get an album mostly devoid of vocals, there's not many on the list. Epie is damn amazing. Sparks is beautiful. I can almost feel my anxiety melting away listening to Sparks. In Space is an adventure, hopeful. Poor Leno bops along at great pace. I'm enjoying A Higher Place, too This album is a masterpiece.

I really enjoyed this and look forward to a relisten and a deep dive into the rest of their catalogue.

5 stars by default because it happened on June 22

Great album, already in my regular rotation

norwegische elektronic ambient, downtempo

Very eclectic sound morphing from an almost soft jazz sound into new age and atmospheric mood. Loved every bit of it.

Really like. Probably 4 or 5. Had forgotten about it.

Solid from start to finish

5) божественно

Standout album first listen I was too busy but gave it a second try and understood the mastery

One of my fave albums <3

8. Right off the bat I love how this sounds, basically techno like beats with unique sounds thrown in. The songs have this kind of warble and mutating groove to them which sounds really cool. This is a really relaxing album with sounds that kind of sparks your imagination. If I had to compare this album to something, I would compare it to a similar sound like the Metroid Prime soundtrack, where they both have this downtempo sound with these unique space like sounds creeping up in your ear. Overall this is a really fantastic album, I loved it and will add it to my collection / playlist. And I think everyone should try to listen to this album at least once. Favorite Song: So easy, Sparks Least Favorite Song: Royksopp's Night Out Overall Score: 9/10

I don’t like electronica, but this is the one exception. I found this album years ago; it was the first time I heard something playing overhead in a record store that I had to ask the clerk what it was because I wanted to buy it so badly. Melody A.M. is what I consider fantastic chill out music. Each track is distinctive, but they also blend into a laid-back whole. They put some of my favorite songs at the top, “So Easy” and “Eple.” Both feature a fantastic sense of balance where the song moves through these complex sections without any one part overpowering the others. They also avoid the intense repetition I find grating in other electronica. There are some songs with lyrics, such as “Remind Me,” but that tends not to be the focus. Instead it’s about the moment to moment sounds.

danceable but sonorous, enough unusual sounds to keep you dancing while confroming to the language off music. Spectacular all around.

Oooouuughhhh… I love electronic music so muuuuch

elettronica ambient spacca

I enjoyed this, dark electro euro pop that was a different sound than I’ve come to expect here. Definitely will listen again.

Another album I was happy to see. I would listen again

Not from this world.

A surprising listen, the songs were different enough from each other it kept me interested all throughout

Als würde man mit Noise Canceling Kopfhörern nackt in nem warmen Bergsee liegen und sich den Sternenhimmel anschauen - 5 Sterne

Danke für die Editierfunktion. Wirklich schönes Album von vorne bis hinten.

Chillige Low Tempo Elektromusic, gefällt mir gut. Songs der Playlist hinzugefügt: Keine

Groovy interesting and cool synthesized sounds and beats. Varied moods between tracks. Cool album, I’d listen to it again. Probably quote original for its time.

So relaxing and so catchy. It's a while since I've gone back to this album, and I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it.

A heady slice of early 2000s nostalgia this one. Remind Me is one of my all-time favourite songs, and tips the balance on this solid album from 4 to 5 stars.

This album takes me back to my early 20s and the early 2000s electronic scene. This was such a breath of fresh air. At least here in the US, the electronic and rave scene was really blowing up and becoming very commercial. Really, really loved this. Reminded me of a mix between ambient Brian Eno-esque music and Daft Punk... chiller, but accessible, melodic and fun just the same.

Enjoyable electronic

Kind of surprised at how much I enjoyed this. I started out thinking it was solid, and I had never heard it, and I'd give it a four... and then it grew on me over the remaining tracks... it's a mood for sure, and honestly, several moods, which is a challenge given what they are using in terms of instrumentation and vocals. They aren't using evocative things like a strong emotional vocal, or an orchestra with swelling and dwindling strings... they are using electronics, and getting the maximum out of them. Cool stuff.

Another group I've never heard of. Another great find. This album is exactly the type of stuff I like to listen to while working. I'll be checking out the rest of their catalog. The album generator does me a solid, again.

If this was my first time hearing this, I expect I'd be giving it a 4. However, I'm already very familiar with quite a few of the tracks on this album which speaks to both the reach they've had in the UK mainstream over the years and how much it aligns with my taste. There's an atmopshere evoked in their music, especially on this album, that is very comforting and welcoming once you're familiar with it.

Excellent

Coole Musik, entspannend, mitreißend. Bisher die spannenste Entdeckung der 1001 Alben. 5/5

fuck yeah

This is a low 5 at this point. But I listened once and really liked it. It gave me some Avalanches vibes minus the extent of the samples. I look forward to continuing to explore this album, this is the payoff I was looking for when doing this 1001 thing. A lot of the songs just gave me good vibes and reminded me of some other, newer songs that I really like. A bit repetitive with some songs but it's got that electronic vibe that lets you phase out without losing interest.

Oh man this is wonderful. I bet you this was a butterfly flapping its wings that eventually gave is Hylics.

Rather lovely

Good ambient sounds! I gave this a 5 simply because I don't know what better ambient music could be like

Super chill and fun

I liked this one a lot! There’s actually quite a bit of variety here. The mood can go from dancing to chilling in two songs. Very good electronic record! More like this please!

sounds, sounds, sounds… LOVE IT. sounds like if Subnautica had its own personal album.

These were some chill ass beats and I loved it. "Poor Leno" and "Remind Me" were my top.

Bekannt und gut.

01) So Easy - 10,0 02) Eple - 10,0 03) Sparks - 10,0 04) In Space - 9,0 05) Poor Leno - 10,0 06) A Higher Place - 9,5 07) Röyksopp's Night Out - 8,5 08) Remind Me - 10,0 09) She's So - 9,0 10) 40 Years Back\Come - 7,5 TOTAL: 9,35 (94/100) I am looking forward to this one, know the singles ("Eple", "So Easy", "Remind Me", "Poor Leno" and "Sparks"), hope the rest of the album is as good. It turns out, the rest IS good enough for me to say that this is great album which I would definitely listen to again. Didn't expect that, but this is another 5 ★ album for me. No wonder it was named the best Norwegian album of the 2000s :-) This is my album no. 100. So far I have distributed my marks like this: ★★★★★ - 13 albums (including this one) ★★★★- 42 albums ★★★ - 30 albums ★★ - 7 albums ★ - 8 albums I would listen again those 4 and 5 ★, wouldn't listen to those with 3 if I don't have to, and would prefer never to hear again those with 1 or 2 ★... 3,45 is my average rating. I guess I'm on the generous side... Bring the next 100!

Another 4.5 rounded up because Remind Me is freaking FIRE. Love the rest of the album too though.

Since this is "electronica" I was not expecting to care for this. I was pleasantly surprised; it is great.

Rocked my world way harder than I expected soft electronic to ever do - after a couple of these types(ish) of albums I can confirm the only way to listen is to be stuck on a train with volume up and thoughts a-wanderin’

Oooo! Looking forward to this one. Very, very pretty. Really enjoyed this.

Great sound landscape

pretty sick!

Man, what is this album? I wanna talk to myself about two things that are of note with this list. I generally dont know anything about the next album, and I dont read reviews/wiki, I jump straight into it. I prefer to form my own, unfiltered opinion, and maybe afterwards there are things that could alter some parts of it. The second thing is that the vast majority of the albums I listened to from here were very mediocre at best. By my own stats, I didnt care for 38 out of 60 albums so far, and I have added only 2 to my library. Sometimes I wonder if this fact affects how I feel about the next record. If I probably will not like it, will this idea actually make me more likely to not like the album? With some degree of confidence, I think I can safely say "no". Because when I first saw this album - as mentioned previously, I dont look any info up - I thought "hm fuck is this shit, hope its not too awful". Then I started listening to it. First track was instrumental, and I assumed thats how the rest of the album would go, but that didnt bother me. Which is surprising, because I am quite lukewarm about instrumental albums/music. There are some genres that I prefer, like witchhouse/EDM, but generally, I dont particularly care for just electronic/instrumental stuff. So why did it not bother me? Why did I like the first song? Why did I listen to the entire album in one sitting, enjoying every song? How is it different from all other ones? I dont know. But this album is really fucking good. Significant 23/61 Liked 10/61 Added 3/61 YYY. What a pleasant listen/surprise. After I write my Very Important thoughts, and give a preliminary rating, I usually go look the album up, to determine its "historic" significane. Doesnt look like this was a groundbreaking album, but I think its significant enough to check out, if you are reading this.

Simple, smooth and a great listen.

Fantastic debut album got me hooked back in 2001 and I've been a fan of their music ever since.

Amazing album, one of the best electronica debuts

I really enjoyed this one, it's very chill and just generally very pleasant to listen to.

overall rating: 9.9/10 favourite song: in space ( 10/10 ) runner up favourite: eple ( 10/10 ) least favourite: poor leno ( 7/10 ) album cover: 9.5/10 vocals: 5/10 instrumentals: 10/10 would i recommend ? : definitely if i knew they liked this genre other: oh my god its a norwegian duo im learning norwegian. kinda reminds me of aphex twin.

Never getting old although being used as background tune to some afternoon telly Shows …

I was initially skeptical about this record as I had assumed it would be more like late 90s/early 00 trance music. However I was completely wrong. This album seems like it would have been a big influence on Destroy Rock And Roll by Mylo (which i rate), but i think this album does what that album does, but does it better. The vibe is ambient and chilled out, the songs are familiar, especially So Easy and Eple, the two songs that kick off the record. It is the perfect background music, but it's too good just to be in the background. It's relaxing but always interesting and it's no surprise the album has sold as many copies as it has. I don't think i could fathom the idea of someone thinking this album was bad, it does what it does to a such a high level. It's fantastic. I'm between a high FOUR or a FIVE, but I think it's closer to a FIVE. I will revisit this album for sure.

Definite relisten potential. Smooth grooves that are great to put on, let your mind drift off or focus on a particular task. Prior to listening to the album, I think my only exposure to Röyksopp was "Remind Me", which is a killer down-tempo track. I really liked "She's So" and "So Easy" but honestly the whole album is a treat.

Premium electro

Rating: 9/10 Best songs: So easy, Eple, Sparkle, Poor Leno, A higher place

One of those albums you go "ohhhhhh THAT'S who wrote this song" all the way through. Fantastic backing music to your day

Hell yeah this my jam. Filed directly into the albums you could put on in any context or setting and have an excellent time (same draw where Groove Armada is filed). Poor Leno really drew me into the full experience. Only thing that could have made it even better would be some smoother track transitions but no biggie.

Klassieker, jaar geleden herontdekt. Prachtig rustig album, met een hele fijne licht melancholische sfeer.

Already liked this album

Love this album!

Awesome :) Right up my alley

Love it! With some epic tunes on there. Sometimes trippy, sometimes calm and sometimes beautiful. Great album!

Sorry folks, this is right up my street. I love it. Scandinavian name, mellow relaxing cover and sweet chilled melodies. What is there not to like?

Herlig!

9/10 super chill, but also very creative and experimental

Bra grejer det här.

This album was my first proper electronic music album alongside Aphex Twin when I first began exploring the genre. The downtempo trip hop beats are expansive, hypnotizing, and very spacious. There’s enough room to hear every little detail and the music is soundscape like in its depth. Listening to it today reminds me why and how electronic music began to click for me thus opening a wider array of music.

What a delightful album. End to end warm, interesting, fun and gentle - and even if I remember clearly the time it was released - it has a timeless nature - in the vein of Air's 'Moon Safari' and Kraftwerk's 'Man Machine', for some reason. Lovely.

I got this album within a few years of its release and enjoyed the chill vibes. It’s fallen off my radar for the last 15 years or so, but I enjoyed hearing it again. I love it!

It might be described as downtempo, but it sure is uplifting. Great to have an excuse to listen to this one again - always delivers the kjøttboller.

Nice electronic music album, I really liked it. Saved tracks: So Easy, Roykskopp's Night Out, Remind Me, She's So, 40 Years Back / Come

Very interesting grooves.

wow. loved it. had heard of the band before but never really listened. great house sound

Excellent album.

БАЗИРОВАНО

❤️

Great discovery

A big fan of Royksopp, great debut. Boppy electronica. Faves: Sparks, Poor Leno

Very nice

пиздеееееец..... ахуено это просто ахуено нужно послушать чтобы понять французы умеют электронщину делать, особенно вайбовую

Honestly A Great Album, Dynamic But Still Static, It's Weird. I'm Writing At The Moment.

What Scandinavian alchemy is this? I love it!

Another classic.

muy mañanero con un porrito

This album is one of my all-time-faves.

Far better than I expected and some tracks I really recognised

Это потрясающая музыка и она стала чудесным саундтреком дня! Любовь!

Relaxing and upbeat album

A chilled classoc

Dayuuuuum I know this tune "Eple", so it came from THIS album! I think I enjoyed this album the most out of all the others.

Mellow tunes

I liked this a lot!!

This is a good album, not great. Very chill, kind of bland even but not in a bad way. I loved 2009’s Junior and the split album they did with Robyn, even saw them together. Remind Me is a great tune.

06/28 Pretty good album. Was surprised to find out one of the songs from SSX3 was from this one

Skön stil, konstig stil, lite upp o lite ner men det växer o växer!

Röyksopp, kul! Eple, vilken banger!

Nice, but I prefer Zero 7

Very interesting style

It's always interesting to see how music people categorize early electronic music. Is it dance? Not really. It's not ambient either. It's its own thing for sure. But in any event it's definitely music I like waking up to. Highlights: Eple, A Higher Place

One of my favourite recent discoveries. Incredible variety, the tracks get very creative with the way they progress. The production is interesting and layered. The only weaker part of the album comes right at the end, which is a shame, but isn't too detrimental to the entire listen. I really came to love electronica as a genre in the last couple of years, so I'm always happy to add another great album to my collection. Favourite track: Poor Leno

Bangers, ahead of its time for sure.

This one was actually a really good way to follow up Neu as my previous album! More electronic of course, but it's in the same direction of being hypnotic and all. And honestly, I liked it better than the Neu album we get here!

Love Röyksopp. Heerlijke vibey electronica.

I discovered this pair on a compilation CD of downtempo tracks in the early aughts and have enjoyed them ever since. I think they were much bigger in Europe - which makes a lot of sense when you hear them. But totally dig this. Groovy. Not too serious. Loved it.

Melody A.M. is an album that sounds exactly like it's cover. Röyksopp's chilled out trip-hop beats with occasional bleeps and bloops, funk basslines, and strings is an absolute vibe. In some ways ambient, but there's enough going on for it to not totally fade into the background, the variety of sounds, tempos, and styles is greatly appreciated. I was originally introduced to Röyksopp through hearing "Remind Me" in a Geico commercial, and in the 20 years since, I still catch myself humming or singing it on occasion. I really should listen to this album more. Mostly instrumental, but the album truly shines on tracks featuring vocals. "Poor Leno" is a banger.

Instant crush

very trippy! great music for background

Opens with two classic songs, then sadly the rest is forgettable.

Fun album! Nice to hear something outside of the UK/US.

whoops rated this on the wrong account (i accidentally made two) gonna give it four stars again lol

Vibes man summer vibes. This was a fun listen for when youre in that simply vibes mood but idk if i would listen to it regularly. Still a good time

experiência mttttt boa. amo qd finalmente acontece.

Enjoyed!

Norjalainen klassikkoannos Röökisoppa on mukavaa nautittavaa.

There is a clear A-side and B-side on this album.

kept it going in the background while studying. liked it but it is more like something you would listen to in the back

I will never not associate Royksopp with that one Geico commercial where the caveman was riding the moving walkway in the airport. And that's something of a shame because their music deserves better than that in my mind.

Starts with Blue on blue bobby vinton! Stereolab without vocals, which is nice. Chill. Sample vocals

Really enjoyed the vocal tracks. The instrumentals were a bit too ambient for me but enjoyable too. Very good album.

Fajne. Ja bym dał 4

Right up my alley

I quite enjoyed this. Maybe I just like electronica more or it just fit the sort of gloomy day, but whatever it was I was vibing with this. Maybe the fact that it's Norwegian instead of some stupid British wanker who thinks they're the stuff.

A solid album to listen to outside on a beautiful spring days.

I was surprised how much I like this!

So easy, even a caveman can do it

Pretty chill. Compared to a lot of shit I receive on here, this is a good listen. Low 4

Fantastic. Really catchy Melodies, and the intercut vocals across the track set a great tone

I bought this album at the time. It was at the fore-front of what turns out to have been a couple of decades of scandi-obsession in the UK. Scandi-noir, hyyge etc. It’s varied. It’s fresh compared to the vast majority of stuff being released at the time. A welcome breath of fresh air.

High 4, love this sort of stuff. The first half was much better than the last, although every part of this was good regardless.

I'll search for detailed information about this classic album to provide you with a thorough review. # In-Depth Review: *Melody A.M.* by Röyksopp Released in September 2001, *Melody A.M.* is the debut studio album by Norwegian electronic duo Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland. Recorded largely in their living room in Bergen with minimal equipment—an Akai sampler, a simple mixer, and a reverb unit "nicked from a radio station"—the album became one of the most influential electronic records of the 2000s, bridging the gap between underground electronica and mainstream accessibility . --- ## Production & Sound Design The production on *Melody A.M.* is defined by **analog warmth and intentional limitation**. Rather than pursuing a polished big-studio sound, Röyksopp embraced lo-fi constraints, using outboard gear they'd owned since childhood. This approach forced creative decisions that give the album its distinctive character . The sound palette is remarkably diverse: chunky basslines, phosphorescent synth chords, rippling harps, squiggly acid-house bass lines, and even mournful saxophone ("She's So") all coexist within a cohesive sonic universe. As Berge explained, they drew from "progressive rock and country music and R&B as much as Detroit techno and deep house," blending these influences without making the references obvious . Sampling plays a crucial role. "So Easy" lifts from Bobby Vinton's "Blue on Blue" (via a Swedish cover), "Eple" reimagines Bob James' "You're As Right As Rain," and "A Higher Place" borrows cosmic sparkle from Jean-Michel Jarre's "Wooloomooloo" . These samples aren't gimmicks—they're woven into entirely new emotional contexts. --- ## Lyrics & Vocals *Melody A.M.* is **not a lyric-driven album**, but its sparse vocal contributions are deployed with surgical precision: - **Anneli Drecker** (of Bel Canto) delivers the album's most haunting vocal on "Sparks," singing *"It's those tiny little sparks / In daily life that makes me / Forget my wounded heart"*—a moment of fragile, wounded optimism over lush bass and airy guitar . - **Erlend Øye** (Kings of Convenience) appears on two tracks: "Poor Leno," where his yearning delivery of *"Where you'll be, I'll go"* transforms the song into dancefloor gold, and "Remind Me," where his detached observations (*"A woman holds her tongue / Knowing silence will speak for her"*) float over playground keyboard refrains and Jimmy McGriff-sampled drums . The lyrics function more as **textural and emotional anchors** than narrative devices. When words appear, they feel like overheard conversations or half-remembered dreams, perfectly suited to the album's nocturnal, introspective mood. --- ## Music & Composition Track by track, the album is a masterclass in **genre fluidity**: | Track | Style | Notable Elements | |-------|-------|------------------| | "So Easy" | Downtempo intro | Eerie Burt Bacharach sample, chunky bassline | | "Eple" | Jittery synth-pop | Bob James sample, high-pitched sonic "tickle," acoustic guitar | | "Sparks" | Slow R&B/Trip-hop | Drecker's drifting vocals, Portishead-esque melancholy | | "In Space" | Ambient lounge | Rippling harps, sighing strings, "interstellar voyage" feel | | "Poor Leno" | House/Pop | Øye's lullaby hook, rich mutating groove | | "A Higher Place" | Downtempo | Phosphorescent synths, stinging guitar loop | | "Röyksopp's Night Out" | Cinematic funk/techno | Tense, Bond-theme atmosphere, free-flowing darkness | | "Remind Me" | Acid house/Easy listening | Playground keyboards, 60s vocal melody, MTV hit | | "She's So" | Jazz/Blues | Mournful saxophone, Tangerine Dream/Vangelis textures | | "40 Years Back/Come" | Experimental/Lo-fi | 80s artificial ethereality, spindly synths, warm fretless bass | The sequencing is deliberate: the album moves from accessible pop structures toward increasingly abstract territory, yet never loses its melodic core. "Röyksopp's Night Out"—the darkest, most aggressive track at over seven minutes—serves as a pivot point, foreshadowing the duo's future direction . --- ## Themes The album's overarching theme is **melancholic beauty in everyday moments**—the "tiny little sparks" Drecker sings about. There's a distinctly Nordic quality to the music: vast, cold landscapes rendered in warm analog tones. The album captures a specific post-millennial mood—optimistic yet uncertain, technological yet organic. The "A.M." in the title suggests dawn, that liminal hour between night and day, which perfectly describes the album's emotional register. It's music for **transitions**: driving at twilight, waking up slowly, the quiet after a party. As one reviewer noted, it evokes "elongated shadows formed by the setting Sun to barren winter landscapes or even deserts on distant planets" . --- ## Influence & Legacy *Melody A.M.* was a **commercial and cultural phenomenon**. It reached #1 in Norway and #9 in the UK, spawned iconic videos (the "day in the life" animation for "Remind Me" won the 2002 MTV Europe Music Award for Best Video), and became ubiquitous in advertising—licensed by Apple, T-Mobile, GEICO, and featured in *Six Feet Under* . Its influence extends to later electronic acts including **Miike Snow, Cut Copy, and countless downtempo/chill-out artists** . The album essentially created a template for how electronic music could be sophisticated yet accessible, experimental yet hummable. As PopMatters argued, it became "the everyman's guide to electronic music, condensed into a sonically superior 46 minutes" . A 2002 limited edition with a Banksy-drawn cover sold for over $10,000 on Discogs in 2019, cementing its status as a collector's item . --- ## Pros - **Melodic genius**: Every track contains a hook that lodges in your memory without becoming annoying - **Production character**: The analog warmth and lo-fi limitations create a timeless sound that hasn't dated like contemporaneous over-polished electronica - **Seamless genre-blending**: House, ambient, jazz, R&B, and pop coexist naturally without feeling forced - **Vocal features**: Drecker and Øye's contributions elevate the instrumentals without overpowering them - **Cohesive yet varied**: The album works as a complete listen while offering distinct individual tracks - **Emotional accessibility**: It invites repeated listening without demanding it—perfect for both active and passive engagement - **Pacing**: At under 46 minutes, it never overstays its welcome ## Cons - **Lyrically sparse**: Those seeking narrative depth or vocal prominence may find it lacking - **Mood consistency**: The relentless mellowness can border on monotony for some listeners—one critic described it as "hold music as the engines of the apocalypse century warmed up" - **Background music potential**: Its very pleasantness means it can fade into wallpaper if not actively listened to ("music for wine bar wankers," as one detractor put it) - **Later tracks less immediate**: "40 Years Back/Come" and "She's So" are more abstract and may not grab listeners on first pass - **Overexposure**: Heavy licensing in commercials diluted its impact for some, making it feel like "advert music" rather than art --- ## Verdict *Melody A.M.* is a **landmark debut** that successfully balanced artistic ambition with mass appeal. It's the rare electronic album that works as dinner party background music, driving soundtrack, and headphone-intensive sonic exploration simultaneously. While Röyksopp would go on to make more ambitious and darker records, they never again captured this particular lightning-in-a-bottle combination of innocence, melody, and understated sophistication.

Liked this a lot: beep-boop & feel-good.

This album is such a vibe. Unfortunately it's a vibe I don't think they were ever able to recreate on their subsequent albums.

El disco favorito de mi novio.

Variety: 3 Adequacy: 5 Listenability: 5 Uniqueness: 3 Emotionality: 2 = 3.6 rounded up to a 4 "My mind drifts now and then/ Lookin' down dark corridors and wonders what might have been/ Something's up ahead/ Hey, should I keep this same direction or go back instead?" Only familiar with this band's name. If I've heard anything from them it was purely by accident, probably via a tv show or movie soundtrack. So going in blind. Let's get to it. THE TRACKS "So Easy" - Ok. So I gave heard this. Where? No clue. But yeah, I'm digging it. I can see this as maybe the more relaxed cousin to The Avalanches album from a few ago. Delightful and catchy as hell. "Eple" - Vibe is going to stay very chill throughout is what I'm picking up from this track. We're going to take the scenic route on this electronica laced trip, and I am totally along for the ride. Less meandering than a Stereolab, but playing the same arena. "Sparks" - Downtempo and Triphoppy and possibly from some alternate dimension where unrealized Isley Brothers slow Jams can be plucked out of the air at will and remixed. The vocalist has a bit of a Beth Gibbons sound, but despite loving Portishead, this is the weakest part of an otherwise fine song. "In Space" - I called out Stereolab before, but this much more in their vicinity. But maybe with less bleeps and bloops and more strings ( electronic or otherwise). This one also teeters just on the edge of Pure Moods territory, but never quite falls over. "Poor Leno" - Bit more ambient as we get what sound like some running water noises. Influences are all over this thing, and what would something like this be without some Daft Punk stylings. The headnoddable boots and cats beat mixes well with the distorted vocals and the techno percsussion drops. "A Higher Place" - What if Sade and Beck got together and tried to birth some kind of sultry, jazzy yet funky midtempo jams? Would it be like oil and water or peanut butter and chocolate? If this track is an indication, I'm thinking the latter. I wasn't totally convinced until 2/3 of the way through though. Solid, but benefits from a relisten once you know where its going. "Röyksopp's Night Out" - Full of nervous energy, this one wanders along with an unsure tone. James Brown as elevator music. But in a good way. It does pick up and get some tight urgency right at the end. "Remind Me" - Much more upbeat than most anything we've heard yet, especially in contrast with the last one. What if Yacht rock didn't happen until the early 2000s, until after techno and house music had hit? Mellow as all get up, but with a funky synth line. Catchy catchy catchy. "She's So" - Some jazzy Vangelis saxophone leads us into a beat that would be equally at home on an Italians Do It Better synthwave compilation as it would a Portishead deep cut. "40 Years Back\Come" - This is all mood and repetition. And it's the best kind of that sort of thing. Simple but very very good. HIGHLIGHTS - "So Easy" - "Eple" - "Poor Leno" - "A Higher Place" - "Röyksopp's Night Out" - "Remind Me" - "She's So" - "40 Years Back\Come" MIDLIGHTS - "Sparks" - "In Space" LOWLIGHTS FINAL THOUGHTS Another band I couldn't help but compare to other more well known acts as it seemed on draw on a lot of the same influences and possibly the bands themselves. These songs all sounded of a piece, and I never felt at anytime that the whole thing was cobbled together from disparate sources. I could see throwing this on at a gathering. Not a party. It doesn't give off party vibes at ALL. Overall I dug this quite a bit. Even with a few more listens for it to grow on me though, I'm not sure this one has too much room to grow, rating-wise. nolotermine perdon llegue hasta röyksopp's night out

Nice and laidback electronica? Yes please!

This took me by surprise. Played it over and over, not my usual go to music but this is now on my rotation

Some proper catchy basslines. Felt like being on hold for 45 minutes but in a funky way

Mellow ambient pulsing thumping and beeping, great for the sauna or late night zoning out.

This album has a special "frutiger aero" aestetic, the scales and the synth used match perfectly that kind of aestetic. It's unique and well executed. If this album had great lyrics it would be an easy 5 star

I’d forgotten about them. Recognised so many of the tracks. It’s quietly unassuming in a good way. The Scandinavians do know how to do a good pop sound

Fun listen, reminds me of a video game sound track. Vocal weren’t anything exciting but the tracks grooved so it was nice background music to just zone out too while driving. Would listen to again.

I am pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this one. Great for background noise even with the occasional vocals. I'm giving it a 3.5 and if I'm being honest, it's probably closer to the 3 side, but I'm bumping it to a 4 because I didn't think I'd like it and ended up thinking it was pretty good.

I've never heard about this artist or this album, but it was all pretty good

This was a super fun listen! Much more my thing. Melody A.M. is in the roots of electronic music. I had never before heard of electronic musical duo Röyksopp, but I am enlightened. This album effectively fused house music with live instrumentation and creative sampling in an atmospheric and psychedelic way, almost forming rhythmic audio collages with funky basslines and broken beats under soft lush synths and pads as well as occasional vocals and lead instruments. I was really taken away by some of these songs, which often grew and evolved beyond their first form, leading to a truly entrancing experience in places. So Easy is the first song on the album, and sets the mood perfectly for the album, and also had a cool ending / transition into the next song, which was just as good. Vocals and improvisation occasionally wove their way into this album’s track, such as the sampled vocals on Sparks and synth solos throughout. In Space has an awesome halftime feel with a cool drumbeat and string pads that mirrored the sound of string arrangements in funk and soul music, however I didn’t like the fade out at the end. Poor Leno is super house-y, with a strong backbeat and bassline carrying the song. Röyksopp’s Night Out is a longer track, clambering over the eight minute mark while maintaining interest and keeping me engrossed in it through its constantly evolving form and progression. Remind Me is probably my least favourite, not much to say about it. She’s So had some really fabulous progression - different parts that were connected well and flowed nicely together. The outro track is a little uninteresting, but works well as an outro. I was really hoping for better transitions between songs, since they are all so similar in their soundscapes and atmosphere, they could have progressed into one another easily. Overall, Melody A.M. is again an enthralling and psychedelic musical experience that perfectly blends together electronics with organic instrumental performances and vocals. Because of how much I enjoyed grooving to this amazing project, I am going to have to give Melody A.M a 4/5! Track scores: So Easy 5/5 Eple 5/5 Sparks 3/5 In Space 3/5 Poor Leno 4/5 A Higher Place 4/5 Röyksopp’s Night Out 5/5 Remind Me 3/5 She’s So 5/5 40 Years Back \ Come 3/5

i like this a lot

Remind me is a fantastic track but otherwise this album doesn’t really do it for me. EDIT: I listened to this over and over again and I just kept liking it more and more. The sound is so unique.

Album is just as peaceful as the cover. 4/5

Once again I'll show my unashamed bias for albums I already own and know well. This is great until it runs out of steam somewhere around track 9 - which there's no real excuse for on a 10-track album. Loses a mark for that, but otherwise nostalgia and a great "play while doing other things" album scores well for me.

4 stars - very nice and relaxing music

Dork maintains Goof definitely surely must recognise some of these songs. Goof maintains they are unfamiliar .. Anyway, a fine enough album - we enjoyed it. The first two songs were particularly strong. Worked well as a backdrop to a return to Halo.

Incredible how an album can take you back to a specific place and time and remind you of certain people. An album that is unmistakable even now. Timeless tunes that still hold up today.

I’ve only heard the track Eple from this album, so it was ascribing to listen to more by Röyksopp, and I quite enjoyed it. This was a good album to sit and chill with in a dark room and get absorbed by the beats, bass lines and melodies. Can’t decide on a rating, somewhere between 3 & 4, but as I can’t give decimal places, will round up to four. Standout track - Royksopp’s Night Out

Not quite the OGs of electronic downbeat chill but closer than most, Röyksopp's Melody A.M. is aptly named. This record knows what it is and delivers confidently. You get post-night-out vibes immediately. And while there are a few tracks you may want to move to as the warehouse party wistfully draws to a close, it's more the record that you put on after you've been up all night and the sun's going to rise some time between tracks 5 and 9.

I really enjoyed this album! It made 50 minutes in traffic fly by. 4/5

Good electronic music. The good tracks are very good. Definitely a couple snoozers though.

sorta proto lofi newgrounds chillhop, sorta weirdly dope korean mmo soundtrack. pretty much every track does something to spice up what could otherwise be generic vibey rhythms. greatly enjoyed it, i dont even really have any specific critique that keeps it from a perfect score other than the fact that i might be a bigot that doesnt believe this is real music. maybe it gets a little self-indulgent on the back end. favorite track is Röyksopp's Night Out

I looped this album maybe 15-20 times while farming items because I was too lazy to change it, so I claim to be the expert on it. My verdict is: it's pretty good. It makes me feel like I'm hacking a mainframe at 1am. It makes me nostalgic for the 90s even though I was born in 96, and it didn't come out until 2001 (two days after 9/11). It has a great mix of ambience while also being interesting and meshy enough to stand as an album. The metal clank sesh of Poor Leno fuckin hits. No, I don't know wtf the frequencies are all about at the end of So Easy, but I do know that if you find Remind Me familiar like I do, it's possibly because it was in a 2006 GEICO commercial. This album isn't a groundbreaking defining musical arrangement, but it bumps and captures a vibe well, and for that I think it's a solid 7.4/10

Really nice, didn't know any of this, but I really enjoyed it. Chilled and groovy, Wall of Sound really had a lot of great stuff back in the day.

Just a solid electronic album. I don't have much substantial to say here other than I was grooving to this one pretty hard while working. I'm honestly surprised that I had never heard this one before.

For 2001, this is good lowfi electronic. I know Royksopp for their later big hits. I enjoy them.

Finally some good electronic music.

I haven’t liked this in the past but let’s see…thank goodness for time. This is great.

This was good chill-out music. Great if you're in the mood.

This is so good - or at the very least extremely evocative of the era and very nostalgic. It's super smooth, quite bleepy-bloopy, and gives an extremely 4am vibe. It's also either definitely been repeatedly used as a soundtrack to indicate that someone's on drugs, or it should be.

Rustgevend

Great album! Had been a while since I listened to this and I forgot how good it is from start to finish.

Really nice to put on in the background

I've never really listened to electronic music independently, its always just been something that someone else might have put on. But i loved this as working music.

Oh man this one brought me back to college. The first three songs of this album are SOOO GOOOD - two dance-y bangers and one downtempo, absolutely gorgeous song. I was ready to smash the 5 right there - it does sort of lull in the middle for me a bit though. Remind Me did in fact remind me in the best way how awesome that song is as well. It's just not quite even enough as a whole for me to call this a 5 but it's pretty damn close.

Peaceful, relaxing electronic music. Reminds me of the lofi channel my husband puts on for us that took some getting used to, but now I love it.

Heia Norge! Gammel klassiker, fungerer fortsatt.

Yeah, that was cool. I'll give that another listen.

This is my kind of thing, and I haven’t listened to this before. I don’t think it’s one of the best of electronica albums but enjoyed it enough that I’ll probably listen to it again.

Listened to it while making sourdough blueberry muffins.

I forgot how much I liked Royksopp and this album. It’s a fun, melodic, and an easy listen to end the day.

Legendarisk album innen norsk elektronika. Høydepunktet er selvfølgelig Eple og Poor Leno

I can’t believe this came out in 2001, that was so long ago. This music is still cool! How can this be?! I first heard if Röyksopp around 2004/2005 from the Cool Buddies…which was just a couple years ago, right!? Oh god, I’m old! Anyway, the Cool Buddies had cool taste in music, so that’s what this reminds me of. Cool tunes for cool times.

I don’t even know what genre this is, but it’s fantastic

Fun album

This is why I signed up for this list. New to me and just awesome. Can totally seeing coding away while this plays.

The ambiance was nice. Cool album.

About as chill as downtempo gets, felt my heart slow to a snail's pace listening to this while at work. And yeah, I find I enjoy this type of music, and this album more specifically, in the background where it can sort of create a calming atmosphere in an otherwise very uncalming place. It's simultaneously breezy and refreshing, and warm and cozy, largely depending on the song, with the occasional ominous tone or transition here and there, but nothing egregious that would take me out of the experience. The opening track sets the tone well enough, with this dusty trip-hop beat overlayed with these hypnotic textures, making the whole thing feel very dreamlike and whimsical. Feels like an entry sequence to a very vivid dream journey you're about to embark on, which is fitting. The shimmering arpeggios and sun-kissed guitar on 'Eple' create this feeling of falling down an endless vortex. 'Sparks' is more melancholic than anything else here and has this almost lo-fi J Dilla quality to it, especially with the vocals. And for as out-of-place as it seemed at first, the song 'Royksopp's Night Out' was maybe my favorite song when it was all said and done - didn't need to go this hard, I love the funkier breakdown at the halfway mark, and the strings returning for the final bit was great. Good stuff. Could've used a bit more variety - again, I don't see myself revisiting this one outside of a background context, at least not for the time being. But this album worked exceptionally well for what it was trying to be. A great, textured mix of electronic songs to soundtrack a long summer day.

Fuck yeah. Love this album

I think I just like electronic music. There was decent variety in this album too and I feel like that’s my usual critique of electronic albums. Not to be a baby but I was excited to have something from this century after too many 70s albums in a row :) Favorites: Sparks, Eple, She’s so

Weirdly good!

Enjoyed it! A lot of these songs I've heard before because they were on my hula hooping playlist and it was cool to hear them in context!

me and poor leno go way back...... i don't wanna talk about it but maybe this is way better than i expected and eple has and will always be a banger

One of very few Norwegian albums from the book. I know about half of the songs well from earlier. It is a type of electronica that I like, most of it quite peaceful and nice to have in the background. Also there are some really good hits. Personally I like their record Junior better, but that is also a more of a «pop-electronica»-vibe. Favourite songs: Poor Leno, So Easy, Remind Me and Sparks.

I've listened to this for years, and while it's not Royksopp's best album (that honor belongs to Junior) it still has a nice, pensive, sunsetty vibe. 4/5

I used to really like this group and then totally forgot about them. Felt good to listen to it again on a Saturday afternoon drive through the city on a dreary weather day.

Favorite Songs: In Space, She’s So, Eple Least Favorite Song: Poor Leno Crazyyyy good. Through this project I've learned one thing about myself and it's that I'm a whore for anything electronica.

Enjoyed this, it's a very easy listen especially for tucking into some work. Works in some trip hop style with some chill electronic beats. Though the album is chill overall, the pace is varied enough to keep things interesting. The album takes a bit of a hit when the vocals show up but they are limited. Good chill stuff. 4 stars

I’ve actually heard some of these songs before! It was weirdly nostalgic. I favourited a few of these songs

Craig: really enjoyed the first half, but liked the last few tracks less Courtney: very interesting and different. Good focus music

This was So Easy to listen to. Took me to A Higher Place.

pretty nice downbeat album would give it 3.5 if I could. Though it seems to work so well as a background electronic album I'll almost certainly listen to this more in the future

On first listen the album felt like it dragged a bit -- at only 47 minutes it still had the effect of feeling long. That aside, I remember this having points where it felt rather refreshing. So Easy, sets a rather breezy tone out of the gate with a repetitive thrumming bass line and unhurried high-hat setting the stage for breathy vocals and sweeping electronic stuff. Nearly seamless handover into Eple, which is more hip-hop forward and reminds me of a brighter, less mysterious RJD2. A lopsided key line forms the melody throughout with various layers of electronic effects. For some reason this conjurs to mind an image of a car ride through nature on a warm sunny day captured on some dusty analog camera with tons of lens flare. At the same time I could imagine this playing in the background of any tech startup's product showcase video. Sparks dips into a jazzier space of existence for a little while, while In Space pulls out some harp tones for something closer to a Four Tet song. Poor Leno is a bit of a low point imo -- plays like more straightforward drum n' bass and I found it a bit boring. Really enjoy A Higher Place and Remind Me. Unfortunately the album sort of just peters out anti-climactically on 40 Years Back Come. All in all made for an enjoyable, if a bit forgettable, listen. I'm going with a super duper low 4 on this one.

Nice album with some mix up in different styles of electronic. Definitely a great album title because I was certainly getting some melody in the a.m. with it being 1054am at the time of writing this. Would definitely do drugs and listen to this album. Remind Me is in a Geico commercial or something that has been airing recently. Can't wait for it to come on when I am watching with my friends and being that guy that goes "Well, actually, this is a Royksopp song".

Really loving Sparks this song is a vibe. Kinda reminded me of Portishead. Remind Me is also a vibe. You probably know what's coming but that album was a VIBE.

Grooves so fresh that your A.M. is taken to the next level.

Beautiful work, One of those Albums better served for background bop than actual dancing

Very cool, chill, electronic album. Bopped along nicely to this one. Certainly could set this one up and find some related albums to just play as some nice background music to vibe along with while I work.

Still love it

Always a time/place for some down beats...like tonight. I am digging the grooves. Thanks, universe for providing the music fitting for a night with a cat on a lap, purring to the beats. Cat loving this 4 star groove.

It’s like easy listening Daft Punk.

That's not my taste in music - But some pleasant songs

Cool chill early 00s Scando electronica. First two tracks are best as sample-wise they bow down to kings such as Burt Bacharach and Bob James. 3rd track Sparks is lush and the best kind of Sparks outside of Coldplay and The Who. Outside of that you’re looking at Poor Leno and Remind Me as the next best cheesily vocalised downtempo highlights. Solid 4 stars.

this was a vibe!!!!

Chill electronic vibe. Makes me feel like a cyborg, mostly robotic and electronic but there is definitely something human within the sounds and composition of the songs

I really liked this - I've really loved a lot of Royksopp songs throughout the years (including Eple on this album) so really nice to get the full picture of this album. Really enjoyable listen and interesting electronic music that would slip easily into the kind of DJ sets I enjoy.

Played this a lot when it came out. There was a lot of this kind of stuff around at the time and I was pretty much into most of it!

Another 4 that's really close to a 5. Just great vibes, a bit slow at times and not everything stands out to me, but what I like is VERY good.

Some real nice, solid downtempo to chill out to. Eple and Poor Leno were particular highlights for me.

None of the songs really stood out among the rest, but based on vibes alone, it’s a 4. … at least that’s what I said before hearing THE SONG FROM THE GEICO CAVEMAN COMMERCIAL. Remind Me is SUCH a bop. I’m still giving it a 4 tho.

This is up there as one of the chillest albums we've gotten. Vibed for every second of it! Standouts: Poor Leno • A Higher Place • She's So

Expansive. Lots of string instruments. 4/5

This was the perfect album for me to get today. I have a lot to do and this is superb background music. Will get your toe tapping, but does not distract. I already have some of Röyksopp's songs on a chill-wave playlist, I may need to add some more. Great music. Excellent album.

A very good electronic album. I like Royksopp in general and this album is great, though it's not a 5 star album for me. It needs a particular setting and vibe for it to hit as hard as it can. So, all in all, a 4/5

Listened Before? N Wow, this was really great. I think one thing this list has showed me is that I much prefer mellow, ethereal electronic music with live vocals over high-energy, sample-heavy stuff. So great. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Eple

Reminds me of the xx. Down tempo electronic beats

Have a soft spot for royksopp, I think because they were on a lot of adverts in my youth. It's not my sort of music at all really but its well put together and has a sort of robotic quality that makes them a sort of chilled out washy daft punk. That said I would never put them on myself but this was a nice listen. 3.5.

ALovely transitiony beep-boops. So Easy, Eple, Poor Leno, A Higher Place, and Remind Me we're all up my street. I don't generally like electronica, but the distortion, the beep-boops going in and out of tune, and some creative build-ups and breaks made me want to listen. Music for when the 90s/00s Channel 4 ident comes on, and you're waiting for the image to line up to make the 4, and then it does, and then it doesn't. Then I shall give it 4 stars.

"In Return" by Odesza was a very formative electronic album for me in college, and this Royksopp record feels like that for a previous generation. It's beautiful, incredibly composed and I thoroughly enjoyed it. 5/5 is a stretch but solid 4 stars for sure.

Very rarely do I save songs from these albums but this one has multiple. Fantastic.

Perfect soundtrack to my day it made the world feel less noisy.

Atmospheric and hypnotic. I felt every song.

Listened to this one twice, and once on my way home from work. Solid album, some really catchy songs - and great music for working to. Absolutely a solid 4. I fully intend to listen to more by them.

I like this one. Really good

An electronic music album in this list that is below an hour? Wow, I am impressed by that. This is pretty good overall - nice background/working music.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this. Ethereal yet catchy, this was a nice take on the chill eletronic vibes of the 90s / early 00s. Overall- 3.5 to 4 out of 5

I liked this. It was an atmospheric, electronic vibe. Not necessarily dance music, more like ambient techno.

Already recieved this album, my review remains unchanged

I will listen to this again. Nice, relaxing, but also complex if one actively listens. It's not just for background music!

Tracks read almost as lullabies, a mix of comforting instruments and soft synthesizers, with light vocals putting you to sleep. Disco, groovy bone rattling base, with an acceptable amount of head bobbing. Breathy vocals feeling almost like ethereal beings whispering right into your ear. Saxophone is a dominant instrument as it appears in the majority of tracks. Very unsuccessful transition between track 1 and track 2. Lo-fi. Would make a good background music for working or relaxing, of course in a very good sense. Unpleasant sound present in track 5 which sounds like a stone falling down and bouncing inside the metal cylinder. 90s synthesizer translating into 21st century music. The ongoing technological advancement pushing artists to experiment more with the broader range of tools or perhaps going back to the roots themselves. For some reason it induced in me a nostalgic feeling of the 80s and 90s personal computer boom and their 8-bit bleeps and bops and the iconic startup sounds. Everything so hands on, physical in form and shape. The cover brilliantly depicts that almost the dawn time when you are neither asleep nor fully conscious. A true state of in between. This album is hard to rate, some tracks feel overly long and repetitive in it's nature (like Röyksopp Night Out), but some fit just like a glove and are very pleasant to listen to (like Remind Me).

Lovely stuff that still sounds fresh today

Surprisingly quite enjoyed this.

A really enjoyable, serene project that I needed before game 7 of the ALCS today. Nice and soothing, very delicate at times, but still full of intent and ideas. “In Space” has that Four Tet sound going for it, before he was even producing such a sound. “Poor Leno” has a dancey, disco inspired groove that just goes over great. Certainly apart of the house + disco fusion of its time, but not an aged time capsule by any means. “A Higher Place” leans a bit more Aphex Twin, with some crunchier percussion and glitchy textures. Really like this song, but the best is yet to come. That title belongs to “Remind Me”. A super-sleek, utopian, loungey cut that is smooth as butter. Effortless and all around beautiful. This is a 4/5 for me. Mellow and subdued, but imaginative all the same.

Really cool

What a fucking banger!

Really good, really atmospheric, really interesting album.

I enjoyed this as focus music.

Poor leno..... What a jam, love those cowbells. This album has a lot of different sounds, but all very relaxed. Melody A.M. is the perfect name.

Enjoyable

Really good atmospheric electronica. 3.5/5.0: Very Good

one of the more enjoyable albums ive had recently. interesting melodies and only one or two songs was long enough to overstay its welcome.

Royksopp’s Melody AM has got a mellow, new wave vibe that was perfect for a misty twilight (PM) meadow walk! It had rained all afternoon so everything was clean and smelled fresh. It started with a full arc rainbow and ended with a pink and orange sunset over the DeLuz foothills. Sparks and Night Out were most enjoyable, but it’s all good. I’m gonna listen to another one of their albums on my next long walk. (3.75*s) It’s dark out now…

84% Best: So Easy; Poor Leno; Röyksopp's Night Out; Remind Me Must-Hear? Sure

Best Song: Eple. It just feels like surfing through clouds. Worst Song: Sparks. A bit too slow relative to the preceding two songs, and I wasn't the hugest fan of the inclusion of vocals. The beats suffice on their own. Overall: Really fantastic, groovy music. I mostly preferred the vocal-free tracks, but altogether the album presents a great, relaxed vibe.

I feel like I’m listening to SOMAfm

This was a fun album to listen and dance to! And a kick to hear the music for the Geico Caveman commercial. :)

I've heard a few of these tracks, like their single Poor Leno, which is pretty cool with a unique sound to it, and Eple, on some DJ mix somewhere. The rest of the album is pretty solid and listenable. Spacy at times, futuristic sounds. 4/5

A beautiful flowing album with some of Rrrrrrrrõyksopps best tracks. The non-hits do linger slightly, but the bangers pick up the slack
