This was annoying on many levels. Not on Spotify, redundant drum machines. No melody no feeling. Didn’t bother to listen to the whole thing cause listening on YouTube is annoying. Closest to 1 star yet. In fact it is one star.
This sounds more like the album you hear while you're dying.
It's worth noting that the original album from 1996 is not the same as the one linked here on Spotify. Nevertheless, great songs/album that still influences artists to this day.
It's a background album isn't it. It's not and, but it's not something you listen to intently. It just plays in the background while you play videogames or get high.

It has a certain mood which is fine, and I understand how important this album was back in the mid-1990s when drum and bass developed in the UK. But it's very monotonous, samey, and too fast-paced, and it goes on for more than 2 hours. It's just too much. Also, it's a compilation album, and even if it sounds coherent, it's still not an album by one single artist/band just like any other album on this list. Overall it was not for me.
I'm not sure I listened to the correct album. Still, I got one on Deezer credited to "Various artists" that followed almost the same track list I got on the Wikipedia page (just out of curiosity, that also has another one with the same cover and 3 HOURS of electronic music...😂😂😂...) Anyway, it will probably not change my opinion. It is the kind of generic electronic music that may have had some importance in the '80s/'90s, but it just sounds like nothing important in 2024.
Compilation albums should not be on the list; the linked version (on Spotify) is not the alright version, and is over three hours long; and, most egregiously, the music is absolute pony

Breezy DnB rollers. If that's your jam there's a lot to love. Suspect a lot of listeners might get a bit bored? Stop press: I'm starting to think I may be listening to the wrong version of the record here. Difficult to tell; confusion reigns 😬. I'm not listening to the whole 2+ hours if I can't be sure.
Maybe one day, years later, they woke up and realized that they spent months of their youth compiling two hours of flavorless and unoriginal beats like it was the greatest thing anyone had ever done, and they pulled it from streaming services out of sheer embarrassment. Have we considered this possibility yet?
Ok to start with, the music on Spotify is not the same album as what is listed in the book. Near as I can tell, 'Logical Progression' is accurate long out of print and at some point was replaced by an inferior but confusingly titled 'Logical Progression Level 1' compliation. The tracklisting is almost entirely different. This is one of those rare occasions when I won't listen to the full album. First because it seems impossible to find a version online that matches the original 100% (you can find some of the music but with gaps and without the continuous mix from Bukem), and secondly because I used to own the original CD. I did revisit some of Bukem's original songs on his 'Producer 01' album, which is a pretty good representation of what this compliation was going for. Bukem took a background in jazz fusion and used it to mix ambient textures with drum and bass. For my money, it's pretty decent. I'd take it over Goldie any day, though it's not as good as Roni Size or Photek. If you like the genre, you should take time to explore LTJ Bukem. If not, he probably won't convince you, especially not with this version on Spotify.
Nope. Can’t do it. Rave music to me is just background music and only works in a dance club. It has no purpose outside of that setting. Way too repetitive. Who would ever want to listen to this outside of a rave? I would rather listen to Polka.
The political ads on YouTube sucked (album not on tidal) but overall I'd say they were worth it

Let's pull this one up in the ol' Spotify... 12 songs, 3 hr 27 min? Oh boy. Two of these songs are over an hour long, which is just fucking ridiculous. Even the ones that aren't an hour are around 7 minutes, which is 6 minutes too long. Every single one of these tracks is so goddamn repetitive

This is the kinda thing I often put on when I'm working, I like this kind of stuff but this is a compilation album. How do you compare it against some of the greatest albums of all time?

Another one I've never even heard of, artist or album. I listened to quite a bit of electronica music around that time but no one ever turned me on to this album. It starts out very frenetic but it reminded me of a movie soundtrack, not something I'd put on to enjoy at home. A couple of the tracks were so repetitive that I ended up skipping ahead after they went nowhere - repetition was the name of the game back then but the same words over and over for 8+ minutes?! This breaks no new ground and nothing is catchy even for the time it was released, truth is...it's boring. This is definitely not a Top 1000 album.
Way too much drum n bass for me to enjoy and not enough purported space voyage. This is pretty dated and not doing much for me today.
Is this “jungle” … I turned off my ears the late 90’s and early 2000’s. I hated this shit. I’ve since dried up, but somehow, this hits most of my juicy spots today. Well, the ones that are left. I think there’s an underlying rhythm current in these tracks, that if you can identify those, at least subconsciously, it’s enjoyable. If you can’t, it’s just a lot of random clatter. I liked this a lot and was able to put it on, let it play in the background and pound through some tasks that I’ve been procrastinating on. That in itself deserves at least one extra star.
LTJ Bukem’s “Logical Progression” created an atmospheric chill and established drum and bass sound alongside Goldie’s “Timeless.” “Logical Progression” is a little too even, though, only occasionally shaking you out of the reverie it envelopes the listener in. Because of that, it fades into the background too easily. Maybe that’s ok if you’re blissed out in an altered mental state. (This is the sound I associate more with MDMA, not the Madchester indie pop janglings of The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays.) But what hurts this album other than its backgroundiness is that it’s a compilation. They’re not all Bukem’s songs. And for a DJ set at the club that’s fine. But for a greatest albums list? It’s super influential, but where is the line between a mixtape I make for a friend and a mixtape a DJ records?
Drum and bass by design fades into the background and can therefore never rise above "fine." Maybe I need to do more drugs to understand the appeal...for science.
It’s a five star drum and bass album. The only issue is that the drum gets old pretty quickly. Ignoring the drums, the atmosphere on this album is great.

Look, it's ok, just not my cup of tea, though it got a positive reaction from my wife along with questions about why the hell I was playing this album. I'm sure it's good, but I would not miss it if I never heard it again. It's the next day and I can't remember what it sounded like. Two repetitive stars.
Not an album for the faint of heart, sure. Not only is it long (over 75 minutes), but it is dense and demanding. But at times, very moving and beautiful. I'm sorry your music can't be spoon-fed to you all the time. Sometimes, you have to work at it! I can't pretend that I know anything about drum and bass (or electronic music at large) and I will sympathize with anyone who has a tough time appreciating it, since I often get caught up in what I'm supposed to be doing while listening. The genre (or family of genres) was literally designed with dancing in mind, but have you ever seen anyone dance to drum and bass? What are you really supposed to do here, other than nod to the beat? It's a bit too esoteric to inspire dancing, at least from human beings. But jellyfish? I can see it. A-
This was nearly impossible to find. Tidal...nope, Qobuz....nope, Spotify....nope. gotta be on Youtube nope couldn't find it. I had all but given up until I downloaded a free 2 month trial for YT music where some kind soul had made a playlist that matched the track list on Wikipedia. SUCCESS!!! So I teed up and pressed play. I wish I could report you dear reader that all that searching was well worth the effort, alas I can't in good conscience say that. I'm 3 songs in to a 20 song 2 hour and 15 minutes playlist and I'm ready to give up. Maybe as background music to a very pretentious dinner party this might work but as a "sit down in the sweet spot and listen" experience? Fahgetaboutit! Monotonous bass and drums music with the occasional ethereal voice thrown in. I'm just not down. 2 stars

I had to resort to Soundcloud to listen to this two hour journey through the jungle. Listener beware: the jungle will exhaust you. While it isn't bad, it's just too much music for one album.

This is terrific music. If I still owned restaurants, this would be the soundtrack.
Decent background music. Scratching my head wondering how it is that we have seen a Simply Red album, two from Steely Dan, and now a compilation yet at 150+ in and not one power chord from AC/DC.
Music like this is fine and all if listening in the background, or if you want to get stuck in a constant loop of being in a David Lynch film…only to realize you’re never leaving. I just find it perplexing how many albums like this have made the list.

I’m playing catchup on ratings and for some reason have run into a string of this genre that I missed (or ignored) so unfortunately LTJ is getting the brunt of my dislike. For a 2+ hour drum & bass album, it’s a little too mellow to hold my interest all the way through. It doesn’t help that it seems like Bukem front loaded the best songs as the first few tracks, particularly “Demon’s Theme”. For a compilation of songs from different artists on Bukem’s record label, the album overall sounds quite cohesive, and it’s clear Bukem and his collaborators all had similar musical instincts.
Same old song and dance at this point, as I'm only here because of one Robert Dimery, and that probably goes for most drum and bass albums I sit through. They are, as always, solid background songs with this PS2-esque nostalgia, as if they'd fit perfectly into a racing game that doesn't exist, but, again, I say that about every one of these albums. Maybe this one has more energy than others in the genre? Can't say that for certain, as I'm sure I've said that before, too. The length is utterly insane, though, and its lack of streaming capability makes this a tough to track down, and it is even harder to sit through. It's... fine. It is an album that does exist. Maybe the production is amazing here? Maybe LTJ Bukem and pals are the cream of the crop when it comes to jungle influenced drum and bass? I don't know, I tuned out about twenty minutes in.
I call this music that makes you want to pee. Gets you all hyped up with the crazy drum beats and fast tympo so you have to go to the John.

The issue here is that it is just boring. If you're doing EDM music, i feel like you need to catch a vibe that drives and engages the listener. This is repetitive and uncaptivating. It's pretty surprising that there is something this so high tempo and beat crazy that is truly uninteresting. Nothing unlistenable, but it gets the fail because by the end you don't even care.

I’m not a drum and bass enthusiast- it sounds like the soundtrack of a scene in an action movie where the hero goes into a club full of spaced out people dancing vibrantly to an incoherent tune looking for the villain. Atmospheric but I feel like you need to be under the influence to appreciate this. Not listening to it sober and sane at your office desk! Not completely hateful but the epitome of tedium!
I didn't love it. Scratch that... I didn't like it. I think I've established that house, EDM, electronica or whatever this music is is not my thing. It's getting less my thing with each new entry.

Not sure if I listened to the right album. It was a compilation by various artists "presented by LTJKukem" and it was 3.5 hours long. Admittedly I did not listen to the last song, which was listed as being over 1 hour long. You know me, I like dance and EDM. I found this nice to have in the background while I worked but there was nothing that really captivated me to think this merited inclusion on the list.

I quite like this genre of drum and bass, but others have done this better. Everything But the Girl’s “Walking Wounded” album I have recommended before is a much better one to try — drum-and-bass with lovely songs.
The linked album and the listed tracks do not line up. The linked album is 3 hours long with the final two tracks seeming to be the full album duplicated in one continuous, trackless set. That’s a lot of nonsense for a genre I already hate. I listened to a few snippets and got the gist. One star.
I'm not really into lots of drum and bass, but this album was good and I enjoyed it pretty much all of the way through. Each song had a great vibe, though each song was about twice as long as I would have preferred. Makes sense for a club I guess, but I was ready for most songs to move on only a few minutes in.
Was surprised to find I enjoyed this one. Only thing wrong is that it's 2 hours long. 3.49/5
I really don't know how to review this album. I know a lot of people listen and appreciate this type of music, but to me it's just noise; a repetitive kind of noise. I could put it on while I'm working since it's not engaging my attention whatsover, but it really isn't the kind of music I want to listen to. On the other hand, it's not making my ears bleed like some of the other stuff I've heard due to this project, which is why I'm not giving it the lowest score. 1.5 stars
Everytime the drums come in, it's basically the same drum sample from the "amen break" over and over. Every song has the same drums, maybe slightly changed. Maybe this was new and interesting at the time, or this was a breakthrough drum and bass album at the time, but now it sounds really repetitive and dated.

Ya know what's annoying after 20 minutes? Drum n bass. Ya know how long this album is? 2.5 hrs..... Buckle up! I don't understand why a compilation record is on this list in the first place. Seems like a cop out to me. The 67 minute song on this record, Logical Progression, reminded me of Father Fintan Stack's jungle music that he blasted constantly on an episode of Father Ted. ... A 67 minute song..... 67 minutes of nothing happening. The beat was established in the first like 30 seconds of the song, then held for over an hr. It's like that 10hr Gandalf Sax video on YouTube. 10hrs of nothing happening, and it's still more interesting than this pile of shit. Favourite song: Jazz Lick... I guess..... It all sounded the same after 2 minutes. Least favourite song: Logical Progression (no song needs to be 67 minutes long ffs) 2/5
I have no use for albums like tgis. Especially if I'm listeningmidday and sober. It was a tad interesting at the beginning. But that faded quickly. I've also heard less repetitive, vis a vie, less boring albums from the same genre. Not worth having to search out what platform to listen on as it isn't available on most. YouTube has ads in the middle of the what I can only call "songs"
I’m generally not the biggest drum and bass fan. There are exceptions such as The Prodigy and Pendulum, but otherwise it’s a genre that I find hard to enjoy. Unfortunately, this album follows the rule rather than the exception. It wasn’t terrible, by any means, but I’d also feel it to be stretching the truth if I said that I enjoyed it. It felt very much like a one-and-done, leaving me no desire to listen again. Whereas something like Invaders Must Die by the prodigy was played on loop in my car for months on end.
Fair warning the Spotify album just straight up is a completely different compilation. Search it out on YouTube. That said uhhhhhh. You ever play the puzzle game Lumines? It felt like music that would be in Lunines. That’s not a bad thing. I think electronic music has such an uphill battle when it comes to reviews and lists like this. You can’t review the lyrics, you are probably not listening to it at a club or a rave, you’re just kinda stuck. Listening to it. Asking is this what I wanna spend 2 hours with? I actually kinda like this drum and bass style though to be honest haha, I think you can blame a lot of games I grew up with on that. 3/5 honestly
Sounds very generic and exactly like a million other songs I've heard in this genre. It could very well have been revolutionary for the time, and the reason it sounds generic now is that it's so often copied, but that doesn't mean I'll be inclined to want to listen to it again.

We doing compilations now? I saw a runtime of like 3 hours plus and started sweating, thankfully it's just some complete mix/medley tracks tacked on the end - don't scare me like that! Never heard of LTJ Bukem, though some of these tracks did sound kind of familiar. Nice long grooves, a few I really enjoyed. Not sure this album can or should be on a list like this though; a compilation feels like cheating. That, and it's really not all that interesting as an album. Favorite tracks: Above & Beyond, Universal Music. Album art: Pretty nice shot of Earth and the sun. I was just about to call it "the world" but that felt wrong, isn't that weird? Once you leave the world it gets weird to call it the world, maybe because your "world" in that sense is no longer so limited. 3/5

I've never really taken a listen at drum and bass music, can't really find the occasion for it. But this album was really interesting and it felt like a 2000s movie soundtrack. Very clever production.

This is not my kind of music at all, but I like it! At times this sounded like Mario Kart soundtrack music, at other times I felt my body moving along to the gast beats. Clocking in at 3.5 hours, it's a little indulgent. Bottom line: if music makes you move involuntarily, it must be good.

So after "Logical Progression" had been sitting on my unrated backlog for over a year. I spent some time in my current pause to hunt down this album, as it's not currently on spotify or youtube in full. Was it worth it? Could I identify a track that was on the original release versus whatever "Logical Progression Level 1" is? No... But after listening to over 140 minutes of Jungle is it bad? Also no... It's probably one of the more listenable D'n'B albums on the list. Accept it for what it is, after a while the stockholm syndrome will kick in, and it will be over before you notice. One day you'll be able to impress people at parties with your overly detailed opinions about the mid-90's British dance scene.

This is a classic drum&bass album that I liked to listen to in the past. However, it is also a mix album containing material from other artists like Photek etc, and I do see why this should be on the list. (I would just have gone for Modus Operandi). In a 1001 list of compilation albums this is obviously 5 stars.
In principle this is a nice collection of drum 'n bass but after an hour it becomes monotonous (and then there's still 1.5 hours to go). Besides, a compilation album from many different artists doesn't make sense in this list.
I put it on in the background while I worked out, so I didn’t hate it nearly as much as I would’ve if I really listened.
Not my thing, I appreciate a lot of work would go into this though.
This was better than the last drum kit and bass album I listened to. Maybe it was the inclusion of jungle noises that made the difference.

Once again, not sure why this needed to be on here as as must-listen before I die. This is probably what the inside of your head sounds like *as* you're dying.
eh, there were parts of this that were ok but overall it was just kind of dull. i don't really want to listen to 7 minutes of a 9-minute song before it gets good. it may have been formative for the 90s UK drum and bass sound/genre but it's not particularly gripping in 2024 imo. i also feel like it's against the spirit of this list to include compilation albums but (unfortunately) it's not my list. favorites: solar system, above & beyond

Excellent for listening to when getting things done. Studying, working, cleaning. Not a huge fan of the genre as I prefer music I can sing along with, but it's pleasant & energetic.
This is a thousand years too long, but it's reasonably enjoyable if you want something to throw on in the background while work or study and badly want to make no decisions about what music to play next.

Pretty repetitive electronic.
Logical Progression I listened on YouTube, which is always annoying, and I listened to both volumes as one long track each, so I have no idea of individual tracks. I also listened sporadically through the day and only once through - 2 hours for one listen on a beautiful day is more than enough. I don’t know enough about DnB to understand the rules and forms, so I don’t know if this is good or not. My presumption is that it is good, but it could have just been the first track on repeat for 2 hours and I probably wouldn’t have noticed. So I didn’t actually mind it, it’s definitely not unpleasant, and despite the higher tempo of the drums it never felt uncomfortably energetic or chaotic, like a lot of house music can. If this was on Tidal I can see myself putting it on if I needed to focus for a couple of hours and get some work done, the hypnotic and regular tempos and rhythms would really suit that. I’ll go 3. I think a 2 for me means I won’t listen again, whereas with a 3 I may listen again, and this falls in that camp. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Took a while to find this one as not on my preferred streaming service, but once I did listen, whoa! What a banger! Another fantastic gem thrown up by the 1001 list to offset some of the shite. Frenetic drum n bass, a lovely aural adventure.
This music is definitely not for me. My husband would love it. Probably one of the many reasons he is leaving me.

C'est un style tellement peu intéressant, j'ai de la misère à différencier un album d'un autre tellement c'est toujours le même maudit beat. I actually went to raves in the 90's. This is the music that drove me crazy. It's too upbeat to chill out to, but there is absolutely no energy to it. It's basically ambient with a "bom...ta... bom ta" beat behind long melody-less pads. It might be good to focus on work or studying but to just listen to? No thanks.
I really like the drum-n-bass sound as a whole. very PS1. Goddamn you, Spotify, you have the wrong album. Demons Theme does sound super iconic. The vocal tracks are usually super well done. This whole thing cover to cover was work though.
It's amazing, I thought I'd like drum 'n bass. In a list of important D'nB artists I find Aquasky, DJ Food, Lamb and The Prodigy. All bands that I love. If this album is a milestone and essential work of the D'nB genre, I don't think I like it. I listened to a few pieces from the album. They reminded me of the terrific band 'Kraftwerk', only not nearly as good, very monotonous (and that compared to a band that performed 'Autobahn') and totally boring. Then I saw that the whole album has 3 hours of playing time. For what? Forever the same sequence? Maybe you have to take drugs to get into it. But even then, I'd rather listen to something else. 1/5
I felt like this one was a cruel joke, I think it was a nearly 4hr album. After listening to the first 2 songs, I thought that surely it was almost over but that was just the tip of the iceberg. I did not listen to the whole album, so I feel bad giving it a 1 star, but that's what's happening.

A fine drum and bass album. This wasn't ideal on spotify. The album spotify plays isn't quite the album being requested, it's an instrumental version. They did have 2 tracks at the bottom that I think were closer to the original but not sure they were the same. I saw from other reviews that YouTube had "more correct" copies but I heard enough, I didn't bother chasing it down further. A fine example of the sound of that era, but didn't strike me as being much better than several other comps and albums I have. I don't feel like this album was keeping me from dying a complete person.
Boring - it would be better if it was more ambient and less repetitive. The tracks listed by the Wikipedia link are different from those on Spotify which doesn't include the classic track "Demon's Theme"; this review is based onthe Spotify album.

Pure 90s dnb. Plug this straight into my veins. It somehow feels nostalgic even though it's brand new to me. A little unexpected to have a compilation album in this, but in the end I don't care because it's right up my alley.
DNF. 3.5 hours of drum and bass is a bit much.
Could only find this on YouTube, bu I piggin' love it. At the end of the first CD I was genuinely excited to learn there was a second. Absolutely cracking music to work to, provides stimulation without distraction. Superb.

I tried to find most of this album but not everything was available. My statement is this: for a genre I never listen to I love it when I hear it. Just plays in the background, perfect focus music. I like LTJ Bukem, but I don't think that that is the best representation of his work. It's a remix project, not an entirely original piece. Plus, Nineties-era Drum-n-Bass seems pretty dated now. Not the artists' fault...but with modern software, anybody can make beats that sound just as good. Two and one-half stars. The additional half-star is for the fond memories of hearing this music in the smoky clubs of the booming Warehouse District back in my twenties.

Yes it's a compilation, but it's head and shoulders above the other two big D and B albums of the mid-nineties, New Forms and Timeless. Rather than the 'biscuit tins falling down the stairs' vibe and shout-out MC's, this has ambient keyboard washes and jazzy rhythms. Incredibly influential, just listen to Demon's Theme, Music and Horizons which are three of his very best. His club mixes (the Mixmag one is great) are harder and my ears bled when I finally got to hear him dj last year. As many people have said on here, some of the best working music ever made. For me also, put this on when driving at night in the city and you have the perfect visuals and music. Even better if there's light rain.
Whyy is the tracklist Not the same But the name and album cover are?… “Demon’s Theme” is a “classic”, “MusicHound Rock: The Essential Album Guide” claims. But it isn’t on the Apple Music version… I believe the only other album I failed to listen to in its entirety was Throwing Muses, and I’ll be damned if I can’t find the 2 hours, 22 minutes and 32 seconds of this ultimate in “hip cafés, hair salons, and fashion stores” music (that’s the 1001 Albums book talking, I’m not being snide). Edit: someone finally uploaded the full Throwing Muses album on YouTube. Imma right some wrongs, listen to that in the meantime. Edit 2: found Logical Progression in like 5 minutes, I don’t support piracy so definitely don’t go to the Internet Archive I think it's no small praise that I didn't hate myself after listening to the full thing (I heard the 2 discs a few hours apart, though). I don't have much experience with D&B or jungle, but I did enjoy Orbital & Aphex Twin on this list, which LTJ Bukem's compilation here isn't too far removed from. The hi-speed rhythms may be relentless, but the intensity varies greatly, from the pounding intro ("Demon's Theme") to the ambient, nature sound-infused "Pharaoh". It's music for studying. It's music for driving. It's music for enjoying a freshly brewed coffee while rebuilding a village in Minecraft, like I did. May 4th, 2024
This is one of the hardest albums to rank on here because it's not an album. It's a compilation that accurately captures a very specific moment in the '90s drum and bass era. Is it worth being on the list to hit that zone? Yes. Is it not really an album at all? Also yes. 2.5/5

This might be the best dnd album I have ever heard in my life. Granted, I only dance to dnd and never actually listen to it. So this one was a surprise, for sure. A very welcome one.

I don't think I'm a fan of listening to EDM. I appreciate the effort it takes to make, but this album was pretty repetitive and never really had clear melodies. I get that melodies aren't really the point in drum & bass EDM so I guess this just isn't for me.
Being a huge dance music fan the drum and bass/ jungle genre was always too heavy for me and i just don't like it. This however is less heavy and easier listening

I started to listen to the spotify version and was like 10 minutes in when I started to totally hate it. I did not give up. I learned on wikipedia that the original album has a different tracklist so I searched for it. I did not hate it as much but I did. It's fucking dated and very meh. feels like a pro tools library of outdated sounds.
It’s a faff to reconstruct the album (spread over 5 separate YouTubes: CD1, CD2, and three missing tracks). Going back to individual tracks (or even identifying them) is also a faff. And it’s got a 2 hours playing time… What a great album, though. All killer, no filler, difficult to single out favourite tracks, but Pharoah/Rings Around Saturn towards the end of CD2 stood out for me.

If anything, this compilation convinced me that Drum'n'Bass is an actual music genre. I am glad they picked an album of the Ambient variety of D'n'B for this list - if I have to listen to something for hours, chill background music is preferable. And this definitely is some of the most atmospheric stuff I've ever heard; it has an almost ASMR quality to it. Still, it's baffling that there would be artists out there working for years to perfect the sound, driving the development of new music tech and software, all for a subgenre that lacks both traditional melody and lyrics and where the goal is make the music as ambient and unobtrusive as possible.
This not being on Spotify in its entirety and being fragmented on YouTube already soured my experience. I don’t hate the genre, but I didn’t enjoy two hours of drum and bass especially with no vocals. I feel as though I need to be doing time trials in a racing game. I can see why this is on the list, but it’s not for me.

I have to admit, this album was more engaging than the majority of DnB I've heard - which isn't much, admittedly. My main issue with the genre is how repetitive it is. I get it, that's supposed to make it dance-able. But I simply don't enjoy it. This album was very listenable to me as background music, but still not something I'd ever seek out.

These pieces sounded like either what's called "house music" or else something you might hear in a sci fi show or movie, very outer spacey. Didn't like any of them.
I loved Bukem back in the day (Demons Theme!) but jungle wasn't made to be listened out of mixes really - the mix CD here is decent and some of the Bukem tracks are fantastic, but its a bit of a drudge even for a fan

This is the third or fourth album of *this* type of electronic music that I've received thus far. And I'm running out of creative ways to emphasize how much I hate it. The whole genre. It's repetitive muzak, cold and unfeeling, only of use to soundtrack chase scenes. And the albums are always over an hour long (if you're lucky -- sometimes they stretch it out for *multiple* hours). If you're going to present us with ten seconds of music looped to infinity, can't you cut it off after like three minutes rather than ten? Full disclosure: I almost always listen to the full album, regardless of how much I dislike it, but I skipped this one after 10 mins once it had confirmed my biases. This is only for raves. Or to work to, if you're looking for something extremely repetitive that you can zone out to and ignore.
Super refreshing to hear some dnb in here, the early stuff is just so nice to sit back and do some work to, and this is an absolutely primo collection. Early dnb and jungle is an area I've wanted to know and understand more about for some time so this is a great doorway into part of that, this really made my morning a lot better :)

Drum and bass perfection, the production is so clean and it's so well-mixed that it doesn't feel like it's dated at all, especially when compared to Roni Size's more crowd-pleasing but less even "New Forms."

I'm not a fan of, and not knowledgeable enough, to have a decent opinion. That said, the previous album was Street Life by The Crusaders and anything is a masterpiece compared to that drol of an album.
It’s called jungle music, but the only thing I know close to it is house music. Really something I’d have to go out of my way to listen to, not my style. It’s like a Mario Kart selection screen that keeps building on itself. Listened to the version without vocals so I could choose individual songs for the playlist. I don’t hate it, but it is not what I would choose to listen to for an hour. Standouts: Above & Beyond, Music, and Jazz Lick
Was dreading listening to 2 hours and over of Drum’n’bass but it was actually quite pleasant - especially as focus music. Maybe the general sound of it is a bit dated enough that you wouldn’t want to blast it out of your car but in headphones while running or working it’s pretty good. It’s varied and atmospheric and keeps you interested for its duration.
I already have this album saved to my chill playlist, so I must have liked it before :) It's great background music for working. Night Train was one of my favorite tracks, but I really enjoyed the whole album. It's not groundbreaking or deep, just an enjoyable listen. 4

This one surprised me. I am always on the look out for great instrumental only albums. This one was good. The drum tracks and repetitiveness were very 90s/00s but it wasn't enough to be off-putting. I will likely listen again when I am reading or working. 4/5

Omg it’s atmospheric liquid drum and bass! One of my absolute favorite genres of music. I would have never expected this to be on here. Makes fantastic work and study music in my opinion. It gives me energy without feeling the need to stand up and dance. I have been blessed this day. 9/10

damn i didn't expect a dnb album here out of all places...! as someone who frequents the genre when i can i know that ltj is one of the greats. this album is a massive 2-disc collection full of juicy dnb from the era where it shined the most. crazy drumbreaks paired with atmospheric pads and weird samples... what more could you want? my only gripe is that these songs are wayyyyyy too long,, plus when you have 20 or so tracks, this makes for a huge huge album. if it was a little shorter i would rate it higher.

Anyway, I don't have a lot to say about this album, other than I enjoyed listening to it. Granted, I had it playing while I was grinding away on some pretty mindless tasks at work, so it made for a nice soundtrack to my day. I have no idea of the impact or cultural significance of this album, but it was a nice listen, despite its length.

At a bit of a loss as to how this has made the cut. Can only assume it was a token gesture to make up the house(?) numbers. Either way it’s bland as fuck and totally pointless. Reminds me of the type of music they play in them bars that stay open really late where everything is a bit tacky, and the drinks are really expensive, and you’re surrounded by consultants letting their hair down, and you spend your time there wishing you were in bed. Shite.
Wasn't sure if I'd heard this before and just not rated this particular 2 hour drum and bass album but then how would you ever be sure. Everything blends into one, which is sort of the point I guess but makes really bland to listen to. A few bird and animal noises every now and again which gave some tracks shades of the three bean salad Pompidou jingle. I'm sure this was revolutionary in launching a genre of club tracks to get off your head to but not essential in this context.
I wouldn't have this on in the background. The first few tracks sound like those tinny polyphonic ringtones on a 3510. A redundant inclusion in this list.

I'd wondered if there would be any drum and bass on this list.... This is much more chilled than it could've been, makes it listenable on a Wednesday. If it was much heavier it wouldn't have been so listenable. There was a brief time about 17 years ago with the right substances, where I was into DnB, probably still would be with the right substances tbf. Saying that, I didn't mind it at all. It's chilled enough to be background music, without ever really becoming too intrusive. Couldn't pick any tracks out but might be back for background music Expected to give a lower score, but pleasantly surprised

Logical Progression is alright, I don't like drum and bass as a general thing, and that's why I won't give this a high mark, because while all of the stuff outside of the dnb beats is nice and very much more my thing, they all lead back to a sound and beat that turns me off. In lots of places you can stick a set of headphones on me in a quiet room and let me chill to this and it'll be great, but as I've said before I want more of a trance sound than dnb, so it has diminishing returns. It's just fine as it is, though it goes on way too long, I'll give it a 2.
Maybe it was influential if you're into this kind of thing, I just don't get it at all. Couldn't find a version on Spotify that matched Wikipedia's track listing, so used Tim's playlist suggestion, which was 90% identical (not that I probably would've noticed had it been a 100% match or only 50%, because it all sounds so samey). A bit too heavy on the beat to have as background music while you're doing something else, way too repetitive to actually listen to. 2/5, not offensive enough for a 1.
