Who would Marsha be without Greg? Or better question, who would Alice work for if Mike and Carol never met? Some may consider that Alice would be busy processing Sam's meat. (Sam, of course was the Brady's favorite butcher and had a thing for Alice). And finally, consider that we'll never know the great architect that Mike Brady would've been because he's a schmaltzy, average excuse for a man. And, because of him we are left with Brady Bunch, a campy, mediocre show from the 70's. Another Bunch we need to consider here is The Funky Bunch. What happened to the Funky Bunch? Well, Marky Mark quit, and now there's no more good vibrations. Now, we only have bad vibrations. Now, consider this album, For Your Pleasure by Roxy Music and how terrible it is. After leaving Roxy Music Brian Eno became the great architect that the world was missing. Eno created Ambient 1: Music for Airports and Here Come the Warm Jets, two incredible albums that are off-the-charts influential and groundbreaking. Absolute 5's! Can you imagine how dreadful For Your Pleasure would've been without BE's influence? It would've been like trying to enjoy vibrations by The Funky Bunch. It is apparent that this album is B-A-D, bad. However, it's difficult to fathom how awful it would've been without Eno's involvement, I'm thinking wretched. So, a big thank you to Brian Eno for making something salvageable for us to hate and for that, I've dedicated the second star to you.
A lot of this music is interesting, except the saxophone filled tunes. I very much dislike how the lead singer sings. I think his voice could actually be good, but the way he uses it is very annoying. It almost sounds like he is imitating opera sometimes.
Definitely not my cup of tea, but it almost feels like it should be. I think a big part of this were the vocals which I found passable at its best and cringy at its worst. I think the back half was better than the first ("Grey Lagoons" was my favorite track due to the upbeat drums and awesome harmonica solo), but I just didn't get much out of it as a whole unfortunately. It felt like it was teetering on the edge of being experimental without going all the way, and I didn't find anything overly special about the final recordings. I can see this being a favorite of some, but to me, it was just forgettable. 2.5/5.
All of the tracks on this album were new to me. Hearing Roxy Music has never sparked my curiosity to look for more muisc from the band. For Your Pleasure fits within that same zone of interest. Did I like the album? Not really. Did I dis-like the album? ¿Maybe? The warble in the vocals and some sounds from the horns keep this album from being "okay". No one was harmed in the listening of this album, but I will forget that I heard this album soon enough.
"In Every Dream Home A Heartache" jest idealnym tego przykładem - po mocnej końcówce "Eidtions of You" pierwsze 3 minuty utworu przegadane, by zagrać minutę całkiem niezłego Rocka, przerwę na chwilę ciszy i wrócić z eksperymentalną minutą w zupełnie innym gatunku. Najfajniejsze z płyty "The Bogus Man", wysoki chóralny wokal gościa akurat tutaj pasował idealnie.
I was already pretty sure Roxy Music wasn't for me. This only proved me right, couldn't finish it.
My issue with ‘For Your Pleasure’ is that it sounds like a band trying to come up with enough material to fill two sides of a vinyl record. ‘Beauty Queen’, ‘Editions Of You’ and ‘Grey Lagoons’ are ace and the best songs on the album. The rest is padding and filler, with ‘Bogus Man’ being the biggest culprit; a song dragged out to 9 minutes that should’ve been cut after 4 tops. ‘Strictly Confidential’ is also meh, as is the title track which fails to inspire. There are better Roxy Music albums than this one in my opinion.
I liked the debut album much better - this is definitely sonically interesting but I didn't really enjoy it. I think they can get a too avant garde for my tastes. My top pick is "In Every Dream Home a Heartache", I enjoyed the instrumentals in the second half.

This one of those albums where they are exactly in between so many genres that I’m not quite sure who it’s for. Not me I don’t think
I liked the synth and textures/layers of the music for the most part. The singer's vocal style is so big/dramatic that it's more comical than enjoyable.
Beastie Boys. Rick Rubin. Blah blah changed the world. Would not choose to listen to where it all started, if this is it.
Left me cold
I listened to it but didn’t really find anything too notable
I expected more from this. It didn’t give me any feels.
Very... British? Or something. Kind of reminds me of the Ramones but without the annoying voice. 0RS
114 days and albums of this have made me realize that I don't particularly care for Roxy Music. Or rather, maybe it's Bryan Ferry who I don't like. I should have known right away when I learned how he spelled his first name. Never trust a Brian who insists on that Y instead of an I. They always make things more difficult. Bryan Ferry's vocal delivery really annoyed the shit out of me from the first song on here. On some songs, he almost sounds like he's imitating the Count from Sesame Street. Other times he's trying to find out if he can do an entire song with marbles in his mouth. You'd think having a Brian with standard spelling in Brian Eno would help balance things out. For years, I've always heard about how Roxy Music will get me laid, and the band needs to be in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. One of those things eventually happened. Now that I've had something of a deep dive on Roxy Music, I'm genuinely unimpressed. Possibly one of the most overrated bands of my lifetime. This is a band that has great album covers, but even those can't cover up what's inside. My favorite song was a song from their "Flesh and Blood" album that Spotify played after this album ended. The lesson is Roxy Music has some bangers, but those deep cuts are ROUGH to listen to. Not for nothing, but worth mentioning: Morrissey loves this album.
Nothing super special, the jam on the last song was the best part
aight med några bajslåtar
A few okay songs, but largely a forgettable album. Some sound heavily influenced by The Doors, which is why this album does not need to be revisited.
Pretty meh. British rock, I guess?
Inte min smak. Men lite intressant ändå.
My first glam. Kinda meh with some highlights. I can see how parts of this get incorporated into music I like more. Much sounded like Rocky Horror outtakes.
Liked some of each song. Editions and grey lagoons are best.
Too much glam. I’m sure old white men would like it but it’s not my style lol
I am not enjoying this album. Few good songs that aren't all to remarkable. I am not enjoying this album. Even though there are glimpses of elements that might be worth a listen, such as the guitar on Grey Lagoons and In Every Home A Heartache, it isn't something I will be returning to. The experimentation elements strike me as an interesting and unique signature; but not features that entice me to continue.
Didn't really get anything out of this, can see why they were a thing though. 2*
Didn't really enjoy. Not sure what the style is or how it hangs together as an album. Maybe a bit experimental and I don't get it.
Not a fan
Some good, other not much
Probably wasn't really in the mood. It wasn't bad but also had no interest...
This one is still slightly experimental, and although it didn't have the rockabilly song that their debut album had, it sounds as if they're still trying to get their groove on. You can hear Ferry's smoothness coming forward. A short album with some songs being too long.
I liked a few of the songs. Don't really get it, TBH.
No traen nada.
Boring and weird
No Pleasure at all
Hard to listen to at points
Meh
Absolutely not I’m sorry
I did not like this.
me embolo, no pude entrar
I don’t like Bryan Ferry’s voice, so it’s a no from me
Nope
Did not like this. No heart in the music, style was whispy and kind of boring.
This guys voice drives me up a wall
This album is bogus bruh
WTF, no.
I like glam rock usually but god I’m sorry I hate this man’s voice 😭
Escuché For Your Pleasure de Roxy Music y honestamente no me gustó nada.
This album just didn't work for me. It felt too long and the songs felt wierd and just thrown together with no thought. The only positive thing to me was the synth work on some songs like Editions Of You and In Every Drean Home A Heartache but as whole this album was a slog to get through.
Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind, but just could not get into this
1. ztrand - 0 2. queen - 0 3. confidential - 0 4. editionz - 0 5. home - 0 6. boguz - 0 7. grey - 0 8. pleazure - 0
Bad singing. Didn’t enjoy it.
I knew from my previous experience with these guys that I was in for a terrible Monday morning, since this list includes every piece of garbage Brian Eno ever spewed into a recording device. Right from the first note, my suspicions were confirmed. Over the top instruments, dumb singing, dumb lyrics. Just loosely controlled noise, but in a circus type way, not in an aggressive metal-like way. Even when there is a half decent groove, like in Editions of You, the guy's voice ruins it. And then the stupid sax solo hammers the nail into the coffin. Clear 1/5. I'd give it a zero if I could.
no lo escuch
Yeah, this website is losing me.
It’s … just not for me.
Fiero
In general, not my thing… Favorite Song: In Every Dream Home a Heartache - the guitar in this is great.
New band for me. I don't like the vocal and the arrangements are too weird.
This dude's warbling voice grates the nerves. I don't care what is on this album.
This is some weird stuff. 'Do the Strand' sounded ok but you've lost me by 'The Bogus Man'. Really just something that is from a time and place and I think maybe should just stay there.
Didn't do it for me.
For your pleasure, but not mine.
“Experimental” is usually a euphemism for hard to listen to. This does very little for me and reminds me of Jason Segal’s vampire opera.
My final Roxy Music album just ten albums after the previous installment. I'm pretty surprised to be reaching the end of the line so soon. Country Life was fine. It was certainly unorthodox as far as it's influences were concerned, though I found it difficult to feel invested in the music. Maybe returning to an Eno-ful period in their discography will yield some results. Yeah, this did even less of a favour for me than the albums which preceded it. Much of this is just noise to me, which is unfortunate as it's an impressive showing in the strange, avant-garde music department. It's been a good while since I listened to an album where I felt this profoundly empty the entire way through, which is a catastrophe as far as articulating my thoughts goes. Hmm. I dunno what to write. Me tired. Me want sleep. "Do the Strand" is an alright opener. I like the unorthodox instrumental and vocal style. It kinda stretches on forever though, I won't lie. Ngaaaaaaaaah. That's the sound of me sat at my laptop, staring at the ceiling with my mouth agape while listening to the rest of this album. Book time. Unique creative identity. An improvement on their debut album. Charted well. Wikipedia says that this album reviewed well, is commonly regarded as the high-point of the band and is a classic within it's genre. I'm already resigned to the fact that I will never see eye-to-eye with critics and general music listeners, so I guess I can let this one slip by. I cosign this inclusion.
Blaahck
Tough tough listen.
Some songs are super screechy and annoying, do not like. The music is...weird, overall.
👌… It STINKS!
i fucking HATE this band
105/1001 Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure Heard before? ❎ Revisit? ❎ One morning, Rob woke up severely hungover after a work do to discover he had Roxy Music as his album of the day. He knew he disliked them. After the listen of the given album, he discovered he loathed them. Morning even more hampered than before. End of story.
Well, I hated this. He wants to be David Byrne but fails miserably. And I don't like David Byrne that much either. It's aimless and odd.
Lars and the Real Girl energy
Between this band and the talking heads, someone owes someone a lot of money for stealing their sound. This is fine overall, but I have spent most of the album waiting for it to kick in or figure it out. Maybe they did and this just isnt for me.
Only heard Bryan Ferrys voice in "let's stick together" and never reflected that much on his voice but man... this album really didn't work for me. I guess Eno did something in a synth solo but nothing impressive. Usually like the classic rock era but this was not my cup of tea.
nicht meins
Too European for me
His voice
YABA (Yet Another British Album) By which I always mean, another british rock album that adds nothing new and was something I didn't need to listen to before dying. 1*
Didn't like it

This was my first "discovery" on this list, although I was vaguely aware of this band. This brings a lot of theater kid rock that came in its wake into clarity. It also shows just why we needed punk rock. You can probably guess my rating based on that last sentence. Somehow, I already knew I hated Bryan Ferry though.
I guess I don’t like glam. Overly theatrical garbage.
This is not for my pleasure. It does nothing for me. The seemingly forced vibrato, the corny crooner style. To be fair, I'm surprised this was from '73. 10 years ahead in terms of sound, but that doesn't necessarily make me like it. Grey Lagoons is great to my ears, but it doesn't save the rest of the album.
What is this? Quite experimental for sure and it didn’t appeal to me at all. It’s funky and mysterious, but not in a way I like.
Vocals are really horrible.
Three songs in and I’m having a hard time with the vocals on this Roxy Music album. The instrumentation is chaotic as well. Editions of You had some promise. I was really enjoying the guitar but the sax and keyboard noise ruined it. The rest of For Your Pleasure was not a pleasurable experience either. There isn’t anything on here I could take away as a positive. I just wanted this to end as soon as possible. I have to give For Your Pleasure a 1 rating. 1/5
Cool album cover, meh album
Nope. That. Was. Awful. The only thing redeeming about it was the terrific album cover.
These guys have at least two albums on this list and they both suck just as bad. Only good thing with the other one, though, was that the chick on the album cover had a wet t-shirt. Horrid singing and forgettable instrumentals. 2/10.
Some okay instrumentation, hate the singers voice just can’t get along with it at all
Not for me
This was really not good. I really don’t see the appeal, felt like some of them were so bad it was almost a joke. Monster mash vibes. I think this will be my first 1 star. Best part was the first sax solo in editions of you.
Brian Ferry’s voice makes me want to jump from a bridge.
For your pleasure? Yeah not my pleasure.
Nope, yet another terrible Roxy Music outing. These albums are terrible. I want 70's music, but not that 70's music.
Garbage. I didn’t make it past song 5
so many different things going on and I liked almost none of them favourite: Beauty Queen least: The Bogus Man (closely followed by In Every Dream Home A Heartache)
Maybe a little 70s for me. Like the sax! fav = do the strand
No thanks.
Nope
What a chore to listen to. Bryan Ferry is clearly high on his own supply with those vocals. He sounds like no one ever criticized his ability to sing so he honestly believes people want to hear him.
Awful.
Big ol nope on first track and gave up after that 1/10 (beef lard)
Trash
I hate it im sorry!
meh
Not for me
I didn't even know I knew the word "warbly". It just came up in my head Just annoying
2HAT THE FUCK AM I LISTENING TO
This was just to strange for me. The lyrics, rhythms, and sounds throughout the songs are to disconnected for me to enjoy them. Not something I will listen to again.
Ehhhhhh. I feel like this album never got off the ground for me. It kinda felt like a below average musical soundtrack. The vocalist's voice irritated me. "In Every Dream Home A Heartache" and "The Bogus Man" were just outright bad. The guitar licks and tones were fun and hype but it couldn't save this album. I'll give it a 1.5 for cool guitar tones and licks.... Liked Songs: "Do The Strand" and "Editions of You"
Honestly I got 3 tracks in and gave up. A bit bowie-ish in parts but not my thing at all
Not for me sorry
This was most exceedingly unpleasant.
I listened to this yesterday morning and literally don't remember it.
Much like pegging, I’ve always been tempted to try the early Roxy Music as I’d heard it was exciting. However, much like pegging, this album was a painful and messy experience. 1/5
Not my cup of tea.
I'm not sure if it was the vocals, the music, the production, the lyrics or just the whole sum of its parts. But I found this to be dreadful, unlistenable and an absolute Displeasure. I never want to hear it again.
Sheesh. Terrible. Dreaded every minute of each song.
Barely felt like I listened to it it was just not good
I am trying not to give out so many one stars, but I just couldn't get through the album. The sound itself is hard to listen to, while the structure isn't much better.
Shite
This was not for my pleasure, I’m surprised how many reviews found this pleasurable tbh! I couldn’t even fake it for this
Rubbish. Too many eno inspired tracks all over the place no flow to the album.
Seedy music, terrible vocals. It's the music a coke-infused SNL band would have cranked out in the 70s.
Hello and welcome to my review. When I was a kid I did a pretty awesome performance of Love is the Drug. Disappointed it's not here... Never knew of another song by these guys...but had always heard good things about them. One of my struggles in life: remembering the difference between Bryan Ferry and Brian Eno. This album has so much potential but it goes off into these loud annoying sounds that are undescribable. One of the songs I had to shut off. Talk about all over the place.
An album where the opening track was the only real highlight. It was all downhill after that.
The music is exactly what one would exect from the cover art and band name. Very theatrical and weird.
Exceptionally boring. If makes you wonder why they never broken the US this album can clearly demonstrate why.
UGH... Someone bothered to produce this?
Yuk
Meh
calling this singing is generous, it's rhythmic talking at best, which is a shame cause the synth sounds have a lot of potential. not sure if the album could be saved with a better singer cause the lyrics are pretty mediocre too
Boring
Maybe this was better in the 70s if you were doing a lot of cocaine. I couldn't get into it.
Did not really like it. Only listened to like one song.
Oh how I loathe Roxy Music. Always have, went into this hoping I'd hear something of note. I did not.
Dark prose almost set to music.
Third song on the album is about an inflatable sex doll. It was fairly generic listening until that.
Awful. Like coheed and queen had a baby in a terrible way.
Not a fan, something about the vocal tremolo just puts me right off
Not for me, artsy nonsense
not interested
There have been plenty of album I've disliked on this odyssey. For most albums that haven't been to my taste it has at least been possible to appreciate why they may be critically acclaimed, or why they may be popular, or why they may be influential. This, on the other hand, is a mystery. It is (surely) just objectively bad music? Busy, messy, everything-everywhere-all-at-once, headache-inducing music, crooned over by one of the most painful vocals I've ever heard. It made me feel nauseous. Rating: 1/5 Playlist track: Do The Strand Date listened: 02/08/23
Ylläpito.. tullu paskaa.. jokanen albumu 10 albumia takaperin ois ykköstä voinu liatttaa.. hankala esittää positiividta rnää.. kun ylläpito haluaa et lopetan sivustln käyttämisen.. niin basic bitch ass 1001 albumi täss että HOOHHOIJAAA.. heh..
Not my cup of tea
Some of the songs could've kind of worked for me, but I feel like everything is dragged down by the singer. I really don't like how he sings or how he sounds. It's not too far away from how David Byrne does it in Talking Heads, but there it just fits the music somehow, and is executed better. Here it's just dissonant somehow. Not a big fan.
I feel like I’ve heard of the band, but never peeped the music. I read up on their bio and cool to see Brian Eno was a member. I only know his solo career. Dude is a producer legend. I can’t say I like this band tho. I like his albums Here come the warm jets and Taking tiger mountain. Peep if you’re down for some weird trippy sounds.
I do not think art rock is a genre for me. It was difficult to enjoy or appreciate this album. What baffles me is how this topped the charts when it did come out and the stunning praise for it
Not good
Yea, after listening to fIREHOSE and to get this, well shit. I remember Roxy Music from the real MTV days, but couldn't recall any song by name. Now I know why. I just listened to the album and still can't recall any of the songs. This stuff just not for me. I didn't find anything good about this album and really have no desire to go back to relisten. It was music, so I'll give it a very strong .5 and rate a 1. 1
Ikke helt min greie. Slitsom stemme
Enjoyed: No Listens: 2 Just wasn't for me, felt messy at times and I couldn't connect
no
Interestingly
If Rocky Horror Picture Show was a documentary instead of absurd fiction. Don’t know what’s going on with the guy’s voice, but I didn’t like it.
Not my type of music I guess
Nope.
Nope
The cadence and tone of this singers voice removed any possible enjoyment from this.
1/5 - Nope.
Kind of weird album. Not my style
Found this a bit of a slog, a bit too ‘arty’ and try hard.
Didn’t like
I didn't like it.
arty shite
did not enjoy this even a little
This was not for my pleasure.
Äej, det här var inte min smak. Tråkig musik, och framförallt skum sångare. Funkar ej för min del.
Didn’t love it. Another average old album.
Not a fan at all. 0/5
