It’s ok for what it is

Zu Country für mich…

Again, not really a genre I enjoy... I'm too tired again to do song-by-song commentary. This album as a whole is ok, I don't hate it, but I will not be revisiting it. Very boring country in my opinion. Loretta Lynn has a nice set of pipes, but honestly everything else is not working for me on this album. Get What 'Cha Got And Go is the top song for me, not sure why, but it is.

Not my style but good country music. Loretta Lynn is a badass.

Not my kind of music.

Wow. It's staggering how absolutely anti-feminist the lyrics on this album are. That alone would be enough to ensure this one doesn't get a good rating. The music really isn't doing anything to change my mind either. It's boring, unimaginative and cringey. It doesn't hurt my ears which saves it from a 1 star rating, but just barely.

This album is just typical old country songs you'd hear at a fair or inside a restaurant. Not much to note apart from that. I really have no clue what it's doing on this list, but here we are. Favorite track: The Shoe Goes On The Other Foot Tonight

It's nice, but not my kind of music. 2/5. Too much old country twang for my liking.

Certainly not for me, but I guess I can appreciate the artistry?

Its basic. And she has a great voice which has been ruined by a few questionable production decisions

Ok foot tapping country. Doesn’t seem essential.

Pretty generic country, and the lyrics haven't aged well

She's saucy. But the album sounded a lot like itself. And that sound is meh, fine.

12 canciones y 28 minutos. Hacía tiempo que esta lista no me colaba un clásico del Country que no creo que interese fuera de los USA. Solo con ver el número de reproducciones en Spoty se ve que esto no tiene por que estar mal pero no es algo que sea imprescindible escuchar en tu vida.

Good, but not my style of country music. 2/5

I know that she's talented, but I have an immediate visceral reaction to the sound of country music and it just isn't good.

Rosa klassískt kontrí með tilheyrandi meðvirkni í sumum lögum. Ekki minn tebolli.

Behalve de prachtige slechte romantische teksten in combinatie met die mierzoete steel guitar is er weinig lol te beleven met Loretta!

Iets teveel country naar mijn smaak

Tja, wat moet ik hier dan weer mee?

Elvis and Johnny Cash made a baby girl. She was good enough to listen to, but didn't speak to me. Is she saying "if you are drunk, go bang someone else?" Seems reasonable

Memories of smoke filled living rooms and music on the record player... reminding me how much better I have it now

This country album aged very poorly. Maybe in 1967 these lyrics were interesting, but in 2024 they are boring as hell.

Its very generic. Sounds exactly what I think in my mind as stereotypical country music.

el mix horrible i really dont want to know muy bonita

Very country, old style

Old country love songs 5/10

Is it a concept album, telling the story of a broken relationship? Because there's almost no actual storytelling here. It's a lot of feelings, but I wanted to hear more details about the story of the relationship. She doesn't seem to share proof of his cheating? Apparently he has a drinking problem, and hangs out with his friends too much. The first four songs are boring and repetitive, but the pace and mood picks up with "Shoe Goes on the Other Foot Tonight." However, it turns back mopey again and falls doesn't seem to follow through on the story and character development hinted at in "Saint to Sinner." As for the music itself, its too twangy for my taste. So many country singers overdo the twang and accent (just like Scott Stapp and many others overdid it trying to copy the throaty thing early grunge singers popularized - that's right, 90% of country music is to it's genre as Creed is to alternative rock). (And yes, I realize Loretta Lynn probably was the forerunner here that inspired many singers that followed. At least(?) these songs are shorter than punk songs - is this normal for country?

Solo female country singer, Loretta Lynn, created a fun collection of different tunes for your listening pleasure. Some songs are slow and some are fast; there's a song for any mood. Also this album was #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Albums list, and her single, title song was #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles list.

Nice country vibes. Am I now a country fan? Maybe.

Nice songs. Nice voice. It was nice. 5/10

I occasionally quite enjoy Country music, but think I need to be in the mood for it. I was very much not in the mood when I listened to this. It annoyed me. The subject matter seems very insular and mundane. Having said that, for what it is, this seems fine. Loretta Lynn has a nice enough voice and the album has a good variety of pace. Also on the plus side, I really enjoyed its brevity. The longest song is 2:53, and it gets through all 12 tracks in 28 mins. Many other albums would benefit from this conciseness. 2/5

Not very good. Her voice is somewhat annoying and the songs are just kinda sad. But not in a good sad way, in a way that makes me pity this woman, and to an extent all women who lived in America in the 60s. The instrumentals were mostly just boring too but nothing was offensive so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Too country and twangy. Sorry Loretta...

Somewhat passed it's prime, some classic country sounds

A funny one lol

Not my style

loretta me fettan

Country...

Lol, I listened to this while playing GTA on the PSP. Did anyone else think this was like cute to begin with but also like kind of weirdly sexual at points. Not the one.

Some interesting guitar parts and ok songs. Nothing groundbreaking even for the time.

Naisella on kiva ääni ja siihen tämä sitten jääkin. Olis (ollut) magea kuulla miten tämä misu vetää rokkia...

Connor: it's not bad... the instrumentals are decent, lighthearted and rhythmic. her voice isn't *bad*, but the vocals mixing is fucking awful. whenever she sings a strong note there's a lot of... static? I guess. It's in need of a remaster definitely

I can see why its in the book, but I dont think country music is really my cup of tea. Overall, I found it pretty borring and repetitive.

late 60s Country, Female vocals

That is quite the title for an album. If your man is that problematic I'd suggest divorce over penning a song.

Thanks, but no thanks

Even with the small amount I listened to, I know for a fact that this isn't required listening.

I typically don't love old school country and this does nothing to change my mind. The only positive I can take from this is that it's only 28 minutes long. 2/10

This one is pretty much the opposite of 1001 albums that I want to hear before the end of my life. ★

Exactly what I hate about country music. It really started to get on my nerves, which is an achievement when the albums only half an hour long. Just bad music.

I don’t like country music

323/1089 sorry Ms. Lynn but i didn’t really like this, just really not a fan of this type of yeehaw country 14/100

I honestly barely listened to this, but there might not be a genre that is worse for me.

Lynn got a good point with the album/track title. I'm sure every woman been through a drunk significant getting feely. A little more upbeat than some of the males country signers from the list. Still it's country and I just don't vibe. 1.15 stars for the hokey honkey tonkey.

Not a country fan but at least this had a tight 28 minute playtime and no songs over 3 minutes. The vocals are pretty good and the minimal backing tracks from various twangy instruments are fine I guess. While the songs go by one by one they all sound very similar and cut from the same cloth. Not the worst album overall but unfortunately its just not easy to care about a 70 year album featuring a bunch of country covers. How is LL 9 albums in and releasing an album with only a couple original tracks? I have no ties to the genre or any of the artists so its all just filler for me. Sweet Loretta sounds talented but I don't personally have to hear any of this ever again. Back to the shelf. 1.04 stars

1. home - 1 2. knouu - 2 3. tomorrouu - 1 4. there - 1 5. foot - 1 6. zinner - 2 7. devil - 1 8. auuay - 2 9. living- 2 10. go - 1 11. planz - 2 12. caught - 1

Ain't for me, DNF

Not my thing. At least it's a short album at less than 29 minutes

#391 / 1089 Heard before? ❌ Revisit? ❌ Nope. None of this yeehaw cuntry shite for me. Weak 1/5, but I don't do "Did-Not-Listens"

Bizarre…

4 stars only because of Revelation. If the rest of the album didn't exist and we had an hour of Revelation, consistantly continuing and growing, i would give it a 6.

This is not it, the whole thing blurs together into a smear of warble

As I've mentioned when it's come up before, I really can't stand country music. I mention that not to brag or anything, but do be upfront about my biases. I listened to this all the way through and tried to appreciate, but I couldn't get there. I HATED this album. It just did absolutely nothing for me. I can recognize that Loretta Lynn does have a very good voice for what she does, but what she does leaves me cold. Literally the only thing I was able to appreciate about this album was that it was over in just 28 minutes.

I don’t like country music.

Не той настірій мабуть. Під кінець фізично було важко.

Country again. Fuck this shit. Generated me something interesting

Bit too twee for mee

Country sucks.

Truly not my thing, sorry Loretta

please never again

Boring ass country album with lyrics that only feel relatable to a 60s housewife, really hasn't aged all that well has it? Especially considering how much support Loretta Lynn showed towards the right wing throughout her life, this kind of shit really isn't surprising at all. I'll admit that she definitely has talent, but she hardly uses any of it and instead chooses to make an album that is completely generic on a musical level, and borderline unlistenable and cringey on a lyrical level.

Dollar Store ripoff of Patsy Cline singing cutesy songs about spousal abuse and alcoholism. Hard pass.

Ugh! C&W

I might have only given this a 2 but it's a pretty sad sack of an album

Meget "sådan noget man ville høre hjemme ved min bedstemor"-core bortset fra at det ikke er på dansk. Titelnummeret er lidt en banger, alle de andre lyder fuldstændig ens og som dårligere udgaver af titelnummeret.

1.0 - Awful

I'm not American enough for this. Abysmal.

Outside of the first and last songs, forgettable. Could not finish. Appreciate it for its own genre, storytelling type songs and guitar playing but not for me.

I'm sorry, I'll listen to pretty much anything on this list but I draw the line at country and western. Just an endless self-pitying whine.

Just not my jam. Just sounds too similar and I don’t really like the sounds..

Hard pass, managed to get through 2 songs and that was that

Ei oo näköjään tämän tyyppinen kantri mun juttu. Levyn parasta antia oli sen lyhyys. Loretta on ihan hyvä laulaja, mutta ei näitä itkuvirsiä jaksa kuunnella levyllistä enempää.

Not my thing but story kept me listening

I would rather listen to Einstürzende Neubauten ngl

161/1001 Loretta Lynn - Don't Come Home A Drinkin' (With Lovin' On Your Mind) Heard before? ❎ Revisit? ❎ This is the sort of country I hate. Whiny, a constant moaning session and then all the standard trappings musically. No.

yeah im not listening to ts.

Lurleen Lumpkin

Hillbilly nonsense

Old school country. Not for me

Yeah I change my mind about everything since Marty robbins album. This sucks ass and she needs to find a new relationship. Rip bro but this was terrible 2.5/10 1.2/5

Besonders bekannt sind der Titelsong sowie „The Shoe Goes on the Other Foot Tonight“. Musikalisch bewegt sich das Werk klar im traditionellen Country der späten Sechziger, mit straighter Bandbegleitung und Lynns charakteristisch bestimmtem Vortrag. Insgesamt bietet das Album eine stimmige, persönliche Momentaufnahme ihrer damaligen Phase.

It's country AND western

Love the title of this album so much… but this type of country is so, so terrible

firstly, i am the biggest hater of country music if its stereotypical, and a hater of feminism because of the trauma it once gave me. secondly, feminism is never popular in republican states and 60s country is a republican genre. thirdly, although country has evolved to enable johnny cash cover NIN, it is still largely a genre in which every song sound the same. so, 1/5.

Gear: Moondrop Variations Artwork: 😬🪮🟨 Production: 📈👂😖 Music: 🤠🐘🤣 Rating: 🍺/5

demasiaaado no lo puedo escuchar seriamente.

Relatietherapie was geen overbodige luxe geweest... 4/10

Loretta, suhteesi ei kuulosta kovinkaan terveelliseltä. Eikä country kuulosta hyvältä.

stop looking around me while I listen to your crap

Not for me. 1/5

OMG, how I hate country music, especially THIS kind of 2-chords and a slide country music, I mean, seriously, how in the world can you ENJOY this? She might have been making some "good, ol' fashioned, country-fried feminism", as another reviewer stated, But that's not going to do it for me. Imagine it's 1967, the Summer of Love and you're listening to this, instead of the groundbreaking artists that embodied feminism, just by being themselves (Janis Joplin) or delivering great songs (Aretha Franklin, Joni Mitchell), man what an absolute wasted life you must have lived. 1/5

Are you serious? That's one of the things I hate about the US

NO MORE COUNTRY!

I know it was a different time back then and it probably is also part of this genre, but can't she sing once about something else than how terrible her husband is?

awful y'all

Mogla sam komotno ne odslušati i tačno znati kako će zvučati. Ova nacija nikad neće pobijediti stereotipe o sebi.

I tried, but it is just not my thing.

Twee country music, everything I hate about American music.

Turns out I am not even a little bit country.

That's when it was popular to have a trembling voice 😎

Fuck me Loretta cheer up love. Frankly I don't blame the guy for leaving you as quite frankly I would have slipped some poison into your nighttime whisky. This sucked, I hated it and couldn't wait for it to be over.

Not my vibe. Not offensive, but doesn't speak to me at all

This is what i'll imagine from now on when I think of the worst music imaginable

The First Song was good The rest was boring She ain't no Dolly Parton

This is the first kind of country music I ever heard and it has likely soured my opinion on the genre because this is a giant steaming pile of shit

Country, 17eme album => 1/5

Unlistenable.

and this album is why I dislike country. Girl your man is a giant red flag, leave him. I guess it's ok to listen to if you turn off your brain and don't really listen to the lyrics. 1/5

Only good song is title track

Ehh too boring for me

Boring country, although at least it sounds authentic. Definitely not one of the best 1001 albums ever.

Not my genre

I don’t really understand the appeal of country music and to me this is just a novelty record. I hope Loretta is ok though - maybe find a new man!

Beat it.

Way worse than the Beatles. This is everything I hate about country

Lawd save me from this honky-tonk anguish

Heute würde sie den alten Säufer und Fremdgeher rausschmeissen... Ne, dieser verstaubte Mist ist nicht zu Ertragen.

Shite. Turned it off halfway through. Low 1.

This is exactly the music that people talk about when they say how much they despise country music, it's truly awful. I feel like someone needs therapy after listening to this, hopefully it's not me. At times it seemed that the music and singing were entirely disconnected, with no attempt to even sing on key. Initially I figured that this was less than thirty minutes long, so just how bad could it be? Turns out that those thirty minutes felt more like thirty hours and songs that only lasted around two minutes felt like they dragged on forever. I actually found this a bit depressing, maybe the lyrics, possibly the absurd lack of talent on display, it could even be knowing that Loretta was a Trump supporter. Anyway, one star for this dated and quite repulsive offering.

old school country that's not for me.

Just no.

It's certainly an album. It's got songs and stuff. They don't make em like that anymore. One will do.

Whiny piece of trash

Terrible.. Sugar coated old-school country. It’s just too much

Don't Come Home a Drinkin' (With Lovin' on Your Mind)

Очень устаревшая музыка, по звучанию и по теме. Я обещал себе поставить 1 звезды следующему хонки-тонк альбому два хонки-тонк альбома назад, но предыдущий был очень трогательным, поэтому. Лучшая песня - Don’t Come Home A-Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind).

Very much another "of it's time" kind of album. Unimpressive, boring, and not worth noting by today's standards. Fav Track: Saint To A Sinner

What a horrible day to understand English

Absolute crap. How can the nation the produced Dylan and Paul Simon produce this?

Not my style

Not my cup of tea

Country music is not an easy listen for me!! The album is dated and just boring wirth lyrics that just dont relate anymore!

There's another review here explaining that this is why people don't like country music. And they're not half wrong.

Es gibt besseren Country.

Hard pass

J'ai vraiment pas aimé

This kind of Country Music is the reason I don't like Country Music.

Not for me

The miserable life of an under-age bride, set to jaunty music and described in lyrics that offer zero empowerment, redemption or hope. Truly disgusting.

No, just no

Too much crap country on this list. Once I've listened to this once I will never listen again Shite, short, but shite

Jeeesus Christ! I am having way too hard a time detaching my 2024 feminist mindset from what is happening here. Everything about this is appalling to me. 1.) I can't believe this was considered an acceptable way to market a female country artist. She looks like a complete pill of a person and this title isn't as powerful as its trying to be. 2.) This album sounds 20 years older than it actually is. This being released in 1967 at the burgeoning of the flower power / hippie counterculture uprising just shows how pathetically behind the times country western music is and has always been. Lyrically and musically, this record is DATED even in its current epoch! 3.) FUCK YOU to the men that this record needed to be addressed to at the time. And I say this to all the drunken redneck asshole men who ever existed that would come home and drunkenly rape their wives and the ones who still do, AND to the trad wife idiots who still think this is an acceptable lifestyle to promote online like it's some kind of cute nostalgic way to live and not a horrific affront to women's rights. I'm so grateful to all of the feminist heroes who said "FUCK THIS SHIT" and fought for progress. Loretta, this bullshit has only held women back. You have a nice voice, and I'm sure you complied so you could have this career and a better life, but really, someone with a platform should use it to help others. Not perpetuate and prolong the cycle of misogynistic abuse. Saying you're not supportive of women's liberation, and then going on to support Trump encapsulates how deeply ingrained the complacency and idiocy have been inbred into you. (And sadly, so many others too.) You may not have been a drunk like your hubby, but your addiction to misogyny is oh so much worse.

Country

doggone erämies.. änään en tarvinnut ei, tarvinnut kantriTVÄNGGIÄ twauuuuuuuujnggggg........ parin minuutin rallakoita , yirttää olla joku dusty... this bitch aint no dusty... A vibrato like Elvis, tone like Dolly... vibraattori kuin elviksellä.. WHAT THE FUCK????????? hyvää tälläsissä albumeissa että harvemmin ylittää 30 minuutin viivaa heh, kuin kymppitonnia katsoisi ja etiooppia voittaa... loretta kaatui ja ei noussut voittoon...pysyi maassa... simon says, get the fuck up dont come home a drinking

No wonder she was having so much trouble with her man if had to listen to that all the time !!!!

I learned that The Simpsons character Lurleen Lumpkin is presumably based on Loretta Lynn. The songs in the Colonel Homer episode are way better than any on this album. If I imagine country music in my head, this is what I sounds like, which I guess is why this album makes the list, but I am really not a fan of the genre. The opening riff on I Got Caught is kind of cool, I guess.

I'm just not into country music. Could only get halfway through because it gave me a headache.

Immediately reject album title. I do like the stereo mixing, the bass/drums in the left and vocals/strings in the right. Other than that, this is old-school country through and through, it's not my thing.

Oh no…old country is not for me at all. Do not like the instrumentation, the harmonies, the beat. Nothing about it is enjoyable to me.

Production is bad. Lyrics are boring. Guitar ain’t bad when it’s doing something different, so not often. 1 stars

Just not my music.

Good country or bad country? Bad country. How does a 28 minute album manage to feel like an eternity? It's so, so dull.

I have not heard of this album or artist probably because it’s country. Some of the songs sounded alright but none really stood out to me. I don’t think I’d bother listening again.

I do love a country song but this isnt ticking my fancy !

This is a great example of how "great music" has morphed and shifted over the years. This album is like nails on a chalkboard. Couldn't get through the first two songs. The production is so thin and Loretta's vocals crackling over the mic don't entice me to want to continue the experience. 1/5

For a variety of reasons, this style of country does not work for me. I tried and couldn't finish a single song. This is not a reflection of this album, but the entire genre.

duplicate

Ok so I like some old country, but I don’t think I can count this one as one I enjoyed

non mi piace la country e mai mi piacera' . niente da fare. noia

This is not my thing. Apparently the only country I like is outlaw country.

Just has too old of a sound for my personal preference

We don't like it

It's like an album made by a 50's housewife... for 50's housewives (if they knew their husband was listening)

no me gusta

No. Just no.

This is just classic Country music shite. Mercifully its only half hour long.

Racist

i did not really like this one. All of the songs mostly sounded the same to me. The first track was pretty good but after that nothing really i enjoyed. Don't really understand the liking for this.

C&W is a hard no.

I’ve certainly said this before, but country music is a hard sell for me. The older stuff, such as today’s album, is my preferred variation of it, but it’s still never something I’d seek out on my own. Let’s see if Loretta Lynn can change my mind on that! Songs I already knew: none Favourites: Don’t Come Home A-Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind) I honestly did quite enjoy the opening track here which I didn’t expect. However, much like the drink itself, this album was fine to dip into every now and then, but consuming the whole thing agitated my mental state. There was just too much twang for my taste, and the lyrics in parts were just bizarre. I Really Don’t Want To Know is about not wanting to know how many people her partner has slept with even if she is literally asking, and I Got Caught is all about cheating on your partner. The title track aside, this really wasn’t to my taste at all.

I never understood the attraction of C&W, but I was surprised by the snetiments expressed by the lyrics of the title track. Otherwise, not an album for me.

Loretta Lynn is some very old country. This feels similar to the Jingles of the 50's. So wholesome it hurts.

Definitely a little too country for me, but I really appreciate the powerful lyrics and she has a gorgeous voice.

At least it was short... Best tracks: Get What 'Cha Got and Go

Only sampled a couple of the songs, this really is not my cup of tea.

This is a joke right?

It's country. It hurts my ears.

I'm not a fan of country in general. This album didn't change that opinion

I don’t like country music. One time music.

Don’t tell me what to do Loretta

More old school country music. Almost fell asleep again listening to this album. And jeez all these songs are depressing, a couple cheating and hating each other. Honestly I felt worse after listening to this album. Favorite song: N/A Worst song: idk, Saint to a sinner

- Never heard of this - Not a fan of country, and this is the worst kind of it - Wouldn't listen to any of the tracks again - PS Between writing these notes and actually rating this album, Loretta Lynn died, so I hope the 1 star review isn't what caused it

Well that was painful. I thought this was unlistenably dull and boring. For a 28 minute album, it sure felt like being trapped in a time vortex for 60 years. Hopefully there's not too many country albums left on this list. Does anybody outside 'Murica even enjoy this genre?

i got about 30 seconds in to 3 songs before i could confirm that i fucking hate this shit. it is the sound of daytime in miserable dingy pubs full of smoke where no one talks to each other.

A dribble of piss down your fat girlfriend's chin.

Loretta sounds like an absolute pain in the hole, no wonder she's singing terrible whiny country music

Is a zero stars rating possible? Thankfully none of those times were catchy.

This is everything I dislike in Country music. Please no.

Fine country music. I just don't find anything special about it.

love her voice. had the production and arrangements - total product of the time.

Never liked Country when it sounded like this.

What is this... country? I listened to the whole thing, but I wasn't happy about it.

- never listened to Lynn before, now I know why. - Jesus, the 60s must have been dire... No, Sgt. Pepper and Hendrix's first album came out this year. It was just this album that's dire. - genuinely checked whether my sub was plugged in.

These boots were made for Loretta Lynn?

Meh, I really struggle with Country music. I'm not going to listen to this one again. Good on ya Loretta, but not for me.

I assume that this is a country classic, but even with the short running time, songs exclusively about love in such a schmaltzy way really isn't my cup of tea.

uurrrgghhhhh

Didn’t enjoy this and I quite like the odd bit of country music.

Honkytonk classic country. Not my thing. 3/10.

Twangy ear hurter
