Reviews (page 2 of 7)
A great record in my opinion. It mixes the psychedelic sounds of spacemen 3 with electronic elements and creates a very unique vibe
Absolutely fell in love with this band
Need to relisten not sure how I missed this first time around
been on a bit of a downer on the scream recently as i've come to the realisation that Bobby Gillespie is a bit of a bell end. always kind of knew it but i read his book and he proper gives it the big i am about being right on and makes out like he's some enlightened being when really he's a ned who will take what he can and shaft people along the way, like his former band mates. revisiting this album though has calmed those feelings and replaced them with the question of how the fuck do a bunch of glaswegian bag heads come up with something like this? when you look at the screams back catalogue they've hopped genre almost every album and done it successfully. as much as i think he's a lucky chancer he must have something about him to have made the albums they've made.
The first 2 songs were awesome to listen to on the beach. Then it definitely picks up starting at the third song I can't tell what type of genre this is but is quite cool Star is awesome. That is an instant add to a playlist Stuka is trippy as hell. The end with headphones on is wild Medication is completely different than the rest it sounds like the Strokes right in the middle of the album Trainspotting has an awesome build up into some really nice groovy guitar then into some sort of weird harmonoca This album is out of control I love it
Bobby Gillespie is a genius. There is so much variety and experimentation here and it’s all superb. The drums are hypnotic under the accompanying instrumentation, with poetically pointed lyrics overtop.
Fascinating album, new to me. Number of music styles is amazing, is this Primal Screams' Sandinista? With the dub of Stuka as best song. Even better: the link at YouTube had additional B-sides, Jesus sounds like Velvet Underground and would have been great VU song. And the Stranglers cover of 96 tears was fun.
From my yoof
Precisava muito escutar de verdade
I don't remember many vocals. Nice background music with a early chill electronic sound.
now this i can get behind
Electronica of the late 90s always seems hit or miss. This is more hit. It has various sounds, so it doesn't sound all the same. Sonically different throughout is always a plus for me. I'll forget about it but I'll give it a 4. It's unique. I like instrumentals, they have a cool jazzy vibe to em.
This was pretty rad. Like a spiritualized that borrowed some Massive Attack from the library for a school project. I love the 90s
Nearly 30 years after release, this comes over as a fine album, and one that falls only a little short of Screamadelica. That said, I've always admired Primal Scream's willingness to change style between albums. Good stuff.
4 stars and almost all of them are for the track 'Trainspotting' shared a little with 'Motorhead'
Probably the biggest example of don’t judge an album by its cover or band name so far. Was expecting some kind of death metal but album was actually pretty pleasant overall
First time through listened with IEM’s and I really like this album. On the road so I can’t listen via stereo…I am sure it will sound great.
Pure and enjoyable jangle pop with the strangest juxtaposition of light and fluffy vibes but this darkest song titles
I liked this more than I thought I would. Certainly more jangly then I was expecting.
I thought I would hate this but I was wrong. Liked it a lot, only tracks I could do without, Primal scream-Kowalski and Stuka. The rest of it, 4 stars
Good verging on great burning wheel is stunning big fat meaty Bass what’s not to like, loose and marvellous almost a 5!
Super ambiance pendant l'album très intéressant
Closer to 4 than 3, it’s a vibe
This was good. Four stars.
you know what hell yeah
Surprisingly the name is very misleading. Although their instrumentals are nice, vocals tunes are more average.
Did not expect to enjoy this, but it was pretty awesome. Good work music.
I liked this. Good wfh album. Was like being in an oceans 11 movie. Very of its time. Would probably revisit
Well! I was absolutely not expecting a band called Primal Scream to produce such an enjoyable melodic album! This was a pleasure to listen to l, never boring, stylistically varied and even 800+ albums in, this was one of my favorite surprises. I’m a fan.
A little bit of rock, a little bit of electronic, a lot is going on...
Better than Coldplay
Loved the first half, sagged in the back half but thought it picked back up with the last two tracks. Enjoyed the genre hopping and there were lots of surprises musically, did not expect a sitar solo. My favorite moments were when they leaned into the trippy down tempo grooves and psychedelic textures. Long Life kind of reminds my of some of Thom Yorke's solo stuff. Stand out tracks for me were Get Duffy, Trainspotting, Star, Long Life.
Really enjoyed the first half of this one. The sounds scapes were amazing plus when do you hear a bass clarinet solo? It did start to lose me in the second half a little. Overall really enjoyed it, lots of variety and I enjoyed the experimentalness of it.
No. 173 Very cool, eclectic, always changing up the point of view. The instrumental tracks are especially interesting.
I love the confidence with which people throw around genre names in their reviews. Apparently this is both Britpop and new wave synth. Maybe for some folk anything with a guitar and a synth on it after 1978 is new wave synth :D I have a real soft spot for this album. I like how improvised and unified it sounds compared to Screamadelica even though it lacks its BIG tunes. I also prefer it to the 'put on' aggression of XTRMNTR.
Again, not my favorite style of music, but I'm getting the appeal of this more than most.
Not listened to this album for a long time but I’ve found it much better than I remember. This is proof in my idea that certain music happens for you at certain times. Any way this is a great album
Strong 3,5
This takes a couple of tracks to properly get going, but once it does, it's enjoyable although not on the same level as Screamadelica or XTRMNTR for me. It definitely sounds "bigger budget" and, consequently, more immersive than Screamadelica. There is some interesting layering going on and a diverse pool of world instrumentation to be heard, but the songs are occasionally guilty of wafting around a touch too much with little to anchor them. Nonetheless, there's nothing on here that I found to be dislikeable as such. A light 4.
Love Neil Young’s music as this album was I hope to listen to more.
Interesting work
This is really good!
I didn't expect to like it much, but this album has been such a surprise. I didn't know what to expect, and, surely, it isn't such a majestic, great record. But it's pretty good. Actually, also very interesting. There are some psychedelic sounds that add this album so much interest, and some songs are very enjoyable and have some peculiar touches that I have liked a lot. So, even though I don't consider this one a great album, it truly is one that deserves some attention. Being that said, of course, I've enjoyed it. Some songs weren't much of my liking, but others were such a delight.
Went for a 50 min run with this and thought it would be less ideal from the description. I was wrong, it was great. Loved the beats and atmosphere. Probably wouldn't like it so much if I was in the car or just sitting down to listen. Could do with a CHOON or two though.
I was a bit surprised quite how good this was and how much I enjoyed it.
I remember buying this when it came out and being a bit disappointed that it didn’t all sound like Kowalski and Rocks etc. 30yrs later I’m really loving it for the previously ignored chilled dub numbers. I’m not sure if that matters. Primal Scream have always been more about vibes than banging tracks. I just prefer different vibes this time. Really cool album.
I really like this band. Never heard of them before but they are just the kind of music I love
Great album. Reminded me a lot of Gorillaz
This is some really good music to get high with. Headphones are a must. It's not so much the individual songs, but the album as a whole. More music that I probably never would have heard if I wasn't on this website.
I’m disappointed that my local independent alternative radio station didn’t play this back in the day.
I liked it. Felt like a soundtrack. Found out that was the point.
Nice. 4.2
This was not what I was expecting from a band with this name, I was pleasantly surprised.
I like the experimental/psychedelic aspect of rock, but honestly not everything always lands, and the lyrics are a bit preachy to my taste. Overall I liked the album for the most part and would be interested in hearing more, but it the lame social commentary and the uncohesive musical style eventually ran a bit thin.
Great album
Never the most cutting edge to do it, but always one of the most interesting, and do it with a pop sensibility. Vanishing Point is a bit darker and grungier than Screamadelica, with the dance-optimism of the latter almost completely gone in this one, save 'star', one of the highlights. Primal Scream really work best when the bend towards the inklings of their collaborators and let go of any pretences of being a rock band, like the instrumental, almost trip-hop grooves of trainspotting and if they move, kill 'em. Whilst I'm not sure it needs to be in the book, I'm very glad it is, and can hear its influence in albums like Blur's '13'
Moving’ on Up was the only Primal Scream song I was familiar with until today, and I really love that song. This album wasn’t like that at all, but I was pleasantly surprised nonetheless.
Not my favourite Primal Scream album but still great stuff
Very enjoyable album, still stands up well now. Mani, Kevin Shields, Bobby Gillespie, great combination.
I mean like they wrote “Velocity Girl” but this is quite good too. Tom.
Electronic rock, dub, neo-psychedelia, krautrock
Primal Scream are super cool! What fun :)
Way better than expected. Like a more accessible cornelius record. I may even like this better than screamadelia although I know that's the innovative/seminal one.
Psychedelic trip out, man, with some very funky/catchy basslines. Liked Songs Added: Burning Wheel Star Medication Trainspotting
it’s like this website is listening to me because this album is a masterpiece on first listen??? trip hop with rock with electronic music man i LOVE this. some of the songs on the album itch your brain so good. this is a must listen with headphones (specifically wired ones) the first track is a perfect intro song, it settles the vibe of the album and it pulls you in to listen to the album. star was tickling my ear drums. this album is like being on drugs or LSD cause it sounds just like that. the ending on stuka with it going from one earbud to the other was so trippy. it made me feel like that one purple alien from home. trainspotting is a perfect instrumental song it’s so well done, i don’t know how to explain it but all the instruments go so well together i hear everything. going through a jungle while being on LSD?? but jokes aside wow this is so well made im going to give this a 9/10!!
Somewhere between Screamsdelica and Get yer Rocks off which is no bad thing!
ok beats i guess 4/5
I knew this band because of their title song on the TRAINSPOTTING soundtrack; I had no idea that was likely the worst song on this album. (And, it's still good, too.)
Live Forever
Excellent album which demonstrates the versatility of PS
On point
I really liked this! Very cool sound.
Trippy, very psychedelic. I love the mix of trip hop, dub and rock. 7/10
I definitely need to revisit this album on better speakers (had to just use my phone speaker today). But regardless, it was an interesting edm mix. I think they really capture the "primal scream" name. Lots of weird sounds that feel like they were pulled from nature. I appreciate the uniqueness of this album because I feel like a lot of edm gets stale quick and this one really held my attention the whole way through.
mysterious, driven, motorik - lovely weird noises, too - but the cover of "Motorhead" does not really work
I wanna own a little pizza shop in the middle of New York with my friends, where we blast this music all day.
Happy new years! Celebrating it with somewhat good quality Primal Scream! With that being said, this is alright. Their sound is pretty nice and easy to digest, and I like the techno beats they sometimes overlay. 7/10
Oooooo...the 90s vibe again. Loved it. I'm a sucker for it.
This was fine, maybe even one to revisit
I didn't know what to expect 🤨🤷🏽♀️ when I first seen the cover and the name of the artist/ band or what genre to expect. After my first listen 🎧 I am pleased with what I heard. I added a two 2️⃣ to this new playlist i'm trying out where I add all the songs I like from these daily album recommendations called "radio jazz". I like the different instruments and how each song kind of has its own and I am going through for a solid second listen 👍🏽.
Wild genre mix providing an alternative film music for the movie Vanishing Point
I liked this one more than I thought I would, but still wouldn't say I am super crazy about it. They offer up some really unique sounds and ideas, but not all of them pan out. I like the blend of rock and electronica, but some songs can sound a little generic, or go on for too long. Overall I did enjoy this album a fair bit. Low 4.
Fun, experimental yet approachable, and psychedelic. I like this! Definitely something I see myself listening to again.
Pretty fun listen. Some instrumental, some weird lyrics. Had a good time and will absolutely revisit.
Brilliant album. Really cool sections with the tabla and sitar and a great listen with headphones
Described by vocalist Bobby Gillespie as an "anarcho-syndicalist speedfreak road-movie" record. Honestly I can't come up with a more accurate description myself. Having never actually listened to Primal Scream, but being aware of their existence, I was expecting something in the vein of heavy metal or 90s grunge - but pleasantly surprised to get this blend of psychedelic krautrock instead.
Very avant-garde, in my opinion. Enjoyed this more than I thought i would - i appreciate how atmospheric and unique this sounds. It rings true as a product of its time.
I enjoyed this far more than I was expecting. I've never really liked Primal Scream that much and this was a nice change.
A lot better than the Wikipedia overview made it sound like it was going to be. Pretty enjoyable overall with some spots being a bit rough. 4/5
Track 1: With a name like “Primal Scream,” I was expecting a very loud, brash album that wouldn’t appeal to me much. But, as of the first track “Burning Wheel,” I am thoroughly enjoying it. There are lots of elements which remind me of the music I so dearly love from the 60s. There are also lots of Shoegaze and ambient aspects which are fun. The panning and reversed snare on the opening track reminds me a lot of “Are You Experienced?” by Jimi Hendrix. Track 2: Very nice drum machine, not trying to be too much, reminds me of “There’s a Riot Goin’ on” by Sly and the Family Stone. I love me a good instrumental and this has done very well at keeping my attention by using panning and atmosphere building as the song flows. I want to know why they titled it “Get Duffy” though. Track 3: Smooth transition, love it. For being as creepy and weird as it is, I’m grooving right now. They said the line!!! This feels like something I should hate but I’m really feeling it. Track 4: Oh wow!! “Star” is by far one of my favorite songs of the 90s I’ve ever heard. Hard hitting, still poignant lyrics that I feel so deeply. This will for sure be joining my regular rotation. Track 5: Crazy title, stood out when I was looking at the track list. It reminds me of LEGO City Undercover LMAO. Track 6: Ugh I love the use of Indian classical instruments in tandem with the more modern ones. This is another very vibey one, vocals remind me of Pearls Before Swine. This is another fav so far. Track 7: Okay so this is a little scary. I like it but it’s a little too much for my everyday listening… hey so I’m more scared now. Track 8: Okay this is easier on the ears while still being a bit more gritty. I’m getting very proto-punk vibes, love it. The ending gave “Hey Bulldog,” so fun!! Track 9: Oh hi scary voice. This is palatable loud and scary I enjoy it. Oh big boom. Track 10: 8 minutes, hoping it’ll keep my attention. Ooh I’m grooving. Right about halfway and I’m still feeling it, love that. Definitely could’ve been a little shorter but I wasn’t bored! Track 11: Beautiful closing track, ties it all up very well. Another favorite of mine. I really enjoyed this! Far from my regular listening but I had a lot of fun with it!
Quite interesting and good to work to. Wouldn’t otherwise listen I don’t think
Pitkästä aikaa yllätys positiivisella tavalla. 3,75/4.
Typical Primal Scream album, has some really good moments but some that just become background. Always loved the title track though, Vanishing point, vanishing point, vanishing poiiiiiiinnnnnttttt!
Enjoyed the trip hop and psych rock influences. Very 90's brit indie. A lot of shoe gaze happening here. It all came together well and I really enjoyed it.
A really fun album that mixes alternative sounds with neo-psych and some influences from dub and trip hop. Overall, a really neat package, and one that makes me all the more excited to finally get to Screamadelica!
Sort of ambient speed-dub mood-music. Mostly very good. Who is really at the controls? Is it Weatherall again, or someone else? I'm likely doing the Scream Team a disservice but it doesn't necessarily strike me like the inspirational spark is coming from within the band itself, at this point in their career 🤔
More of that trip-hop sound that Primal Scream is known for, but that ain't a bad thing in my eyes. 4.5 bumped down to 4.
I’m at a 4. More like a 4.25, I guess. When we got “Screamadelica” in July, I couldn’t really place why I had enjoyed that album, eventually boiling it down to “pretty good in the moment”. This album feels a bit more substantial, with a little more weight behind it. This is not the House-inspired psychedelica ambience of “Screamdelica” – this is a 1997 album much more rooted in trip-hop, Britpop, techno, & sort of an industrial-driven ambience, slightly reminiscent of the Madchester we just got on “Bummed” by Happy Mondays, though with a lot more polish to it that keeps the whole thing from feeling too saturated. I really am stunned this is the same band, by the way; I know they tend to jump around & explore genres on each of their various albums, but given that they wholesale ripped off “Freedom! ‘90” by George Michael the last time I heard them, I’m just more surprised at how effectively they’ve done this style. It’s got elements of a bunch of different genres, staying within the same general instrument bank, whilst exploring a bunch of different paths on it, including a Motorhead cover (with an explosion that’s WAY too loud), straight Britpop on “Medication”, some Sonic Adventure-esque stuff on “If They Move, Kill ‘Em”, and a David Holmes sort of track via “Trainspotting”, used in the movie itself. Granted, I’m at a 4 because the moments where they sort of lose focus & lose a sense of progression feel a little underwhelming compared to the rest of the album (scattered throughout, but namely around Tracks 5-7, though they’re still good to listen to). I do think it’s a little harder to describe the energy of this album, since a lot of these are more rooted in the instrumentals as an audio journey of sorts, as opposed to big vocal structures or witty one-liners; the most ‘lyrical’ track here is probably “Star,” which ironically enough, made me wish it had a little more of a George Michael energy to the instrumental. Beyond that though, a track like “Kowalski” is that audio journey I’m talking about; certainly abrasive (& yes, this whole thing is far too loud at times), but well-intentioned, well-designed, and ultimately, it just has a good sense of progression that keeps the track fresh throughout, especially with the synths & vocal samples. It is a little long at 53 minutes; as with a lot of these instrumentally-driven albums of the ‘90s, there’s a lot of little trimming that could be done around the edges to give everything a better flow, but that’s just a personal nitpick. I really liked this one; I do think it deserves higher than a 4, but it doesn’t really justify going all the way up to a 5, given that I hit plenty of minor lull points throughout. I guess it’s sort of a 4.25, but I obviously can’t do that. Either way, this is right down my sort of alley, and I’m glad it’s on the list. I gotta listen to some more of their albums in my own time, since this is the last one we’ll get.
8,1/10
After a well-intended, yet misguided, foray into 60s rock and soul adulation on Give Out But Don't Give Up, Primal Scream decided to wipe the slate clean and turn inward on some deeper, darker tones. Out was admiration, in was the questioning of stances soundtracked by rebellious road movies, dusty westerns and smoke filled dub. Vanishing Point, despite its title, marks a point of renewal for Primal Scream as they used the end of the 20th Century as a backdrop to paint the most reddening landscapes that they can muster. Favorites: Burning Wheel, Get Duffy, Kowalski, Star, If They Move, Kill Em, Medication, Trainspotting.
Loved it!
Better than expected
This was my intro to Primal Scream, a band I often heard about but never but any effort into listening to. All I knew about them was that Bobby Gillespie was in Jesus and Mary Chain (a band I like) for 1 album. Gotta say, coming in totally cold, I thoroughly enjoyed this. Trippy, groovy, inoffensive background(ish) music. Amazing for strolling around the city or working to. I love the textures, melodies and psychedelic aspects. Has some Madchester and other Britpop elements that work for me. I tried on Screamadelica immediately after this one and loved it even more. I guess I am now a Primal Scream fan. 4/5
Atmospheric, kinda psychedelic, krautrock sounds. I wouldn't say it's anywhere near to being as significant as Screamadelica. But its quite a distinctive change from their acid house/alternative rock stuff. Overall good record though.
So the one-time drummer for The Jesus And Mary Chain made "an anarcho-syndicalist speedfreak road-movie record." I am not sure where the anarcho-syndicalism comes in, but "Burning Wheel" sets a nice tone. However, despite a few more highlights, most of the rest of the album falls into the realm of decent background music. I would probably put this album at a 3.5, so I guess I am feeling generous.
Whatever you expected this to sound like, it’s not that
That’s the kind of discovery I signed up for. I had no clue what to expect and I liked this a lot
Good album I enjoyed my listen thru
kinda all over the place but a good blend of a lot of shit that I like. will def relisten. fav tracks: "Kowalski" , "Long Life", "Trainspotting" wish i could give it a 4.5.
Very cool. Great rainy day music. Some of it’s a little corny in that late 90s way but not too bad. I love the whole psychedelic dub thing. Really enjoyable stuff.
Great dub record with some rock thrown in. Both unique and anchored in the electronica scene of the late nineties. Cool concept as well. Nice find!
Very good album
Very niche, I can appreciate how it separates itself from a lot of other rocks bands of its time. Star, if they move kill em and trainspotting are my top 3.
I like Primal Scream, but somehow never heard this album. I do like it It is a weird merge of their neo-hippy groove and more modern electronica. It doesn't always work, but overall it's a good mix. Not too many standouts but it's a really good background album. You don't need to be actively listening and deciphering lyrics. It's a vibe. Trainspotting is a great highlight. Nice instrumental. I'll play this again.
Scottish Indie Rock, late 90s. psychedelic, edgy, industrial and very cool. Nice ambient tracks.
heavy
Dub and drifties and lots of enjoyable weirdness
It's alright. I like the repeatable instrumentals. The vocals and words I did not pay much attention to. Rating in terms of bg album
This was super rad, never listened to them before. I want more!
There were 3 songs j very much enjoyed but the rest was kinda background. Dark house music though cool genre overall would listen again
kinda chill, went nicely while working Will I listen to again: 46%
Kind of interesting
4.5. Great ambient
THE GEN'S most 90's cover art since Fat of the Land. Bro in photoshop cs2 straight cuttin' it up. I don't know shit about this band but based on the band name and the cover I'm expecting a fire-starter. BURNING WHEEL is a groove. GET DUFFY IS smooth, is this morning music? Sexy night time music? STAR - I've heard this song many times...maybe on a reverberation radio playlist? What a lovely surprise, this track rules. MEDICATION is some random ass stones worship that I wasn't prepared for doest do much for me. Light 4. I’ll come back to this one again
Pretty good. Reminds me of the Verve
get duffy - so cool. kowalski song reminds me of massive attack for some reason. this whole album is quite interesting, i like it.
I forced myself to listen to this three times back to back until I liked it. It moved up from a 2 to a 4. Why? I don't really know. I really like pretty much everything else I've heard from Primal Scream, and I knew if I forced myself it'd click. So I guess I did the full immersive late '90s experience of spending $20 for a CD that sucks and forcing myself to like it. It's like a weird ambient psych rock krautrock sort of record and I didn't think it was bad when I first heard it, just boring, so I gave it a couple of chances. I don't think I'm willing to put this much effort for most things on this list but this felt like something special. Once Screamadelica shows up on this list it'll absolutely get a 5, I love that record and own it.
Primal Scream is one of those bands for which I was late to the party, and they sure are a party. While Vanishing Point isn’t quite as enduring as Screamadelica to me, it’s a great vibe and another solid record from the band. It might be more of a grower than Screamadelica, but my ears heard a 4 star album with one listen.
This was a good, trippy, chilled ride. Nifty beats and hypnmotic guitars - good stuff
Very atmospheric and unique!
I've always been a sucker for bands that infuse traditional rock and electronica together and I think Primal Scream does it masterfully in this album. Sure, the electronic sounds are dated now, but back then it was probably extremely fresh so I can easily give that a pass. I can also hear the direct influences when I listen to other British bands from the 2000s that would continue this sound like Kasabian.
Interesting album - a mix of Electronic Rock, Dub, Neo-Psychedelia, and Krautrock. The opening track, "Burning Wheel", reminded me of early Pink Floyd, while "Star" reminded me of Stomu Yamashta's Go, and "If They Move, Kill 'Em" reminded me of Can. Their version of "Moterhead" sounds like a cross between Hawkwind and the Rolling Stones. I liked the album.
This is so mid-90s it's unbelievable - a time when it was encouraged to put roots rock guitars over dub bass and dance drums. As it goes on, Primal Scream embrace the industrial darkness that would define their next few records, but Vanishing Point very much remains their "space rock" album. Favourite tracks: Kowalski, Motorhead (of course), Trainspotting
Intelligent electronica music and it just works. One of the better electronic albums in this list
Surprisingly fly I enjoyed it. There was enough variety to keep it interesting.
It's 1997, Britpop was sweeping the nation and old men Primal Scream are still in their twisted psychedelic phase making an alternative soundtrack to a movie no one really remembered. A dark road trip with a bleak ending... There goes the challenger being chased by the blue, blue meanies on wheels. The vicious traffic squad cars are after our lone driver. The last American hero, the electric centaur, the demi-God. The super driver of the golden west...
Vanishing Point is one of my favourite films, best car chase movie ever (apart from Blues Brothers, obviously). This is a credible alternative soundtrack, captures all that 70s paranoia and claustrophobia well.
oh yeeaah tjis gon be good Am i tripping or is star a subtle interpolation of every nigga is a star by boris gardiner theres no fucking way brooo cool album, i like this typa shit a lot. does drag a little bit tho
Wow, I nearly missed out on this because I judged this book by its cover. The words "Primal Scream" had me convinced this was gonna go too hard for me. No way. I loved it.
I really liked this album, it's a very interesting mix of progressive/experimental rock and some sort of trip hop/dub. It works really well, the instrumentation and the production (particularly the effects) are excellent. The singing also tends to add an interesting character to the songs. The most remarkable aspect of the album for me is how innovative they are and how they really push for a niche that works. I must say that with a name like "Primal Scream" I expected Heavy Metal or something more akin to the name. Also, I didn't really care much for Gillespie's previous work with Jesus And Mary Chain, so it's nice to see a change in style. My favourites were "Burning Wheel" and "Trainspotting", loved the mixing of the drums on the latter. "Kowalski"'s bassline is also pretty good. "Medication" felt a bit out of place, it was a bit too straightforward when compared to the rest of the album.
Pretty good … I very rarely listen to albums all the way through and listening to the entire album made each song better.
I was not previously familiar with the artist or album before listening. I actually really enjoyed it. It is very much ambient almost noise rock, but I found it relaxing and almost hypnotizing at times. This would be great to put on while getting work done. I will listen again for sure.
Love this. It's vibey. Always been a JAMC fan, but never expanded into PS. I dig it, I'll scope out the rest of their catalog, esp Screamadelica. Kind of like a less serious version of Spiritualized with more electronic elements incorporated. 4/5
4/24/25. First time getting into Primal Scream, fits right into my first love of 90s alt rock; it's always nice to expand my knowledge of this era. Really enjoyed the trip-hop and electronica style that I feel like influenced a lot of newer bands today.
I liked this much more than the last Primal Scream album we had. Felt very influenced by the Rolling Stones in some places. I liked “Medicine” best.
Always feels like Primal Scream's lost album, between the early stuff and XTRMNTR. And I get that not everyone is down for an “anarcho-syndicalist speedfreak road-movie record”, particularly in the middle of a 1001 album marathon, but this deserves a couple listens to feel it out, and gear everything that's going on. Not perfect, but some great stuff along the way.
It had some really interesting and gripping moments, but some of it just disappeared into the background. Definitely worth a relisten.
A lot going on in most songs. Nice mix of horns, strings, synths, sound effects and fuzz guitar. Very good but nothing overly memorable. I think many songs just have too much happening and that is why none of it sticks with me.
I like this late 90s sound. Sorry to anyone who can't deal with an album being produced in the UK.
Not what I was expecting, I was expecting some kind of shouty metal - but this was much more melodic, psychedelic and enjoyable that I thought it would be.
Playing catch up again, I had a Primal Scream on my daily recently, but I liked this album better.
Catchy and psychedelic
Love their eclectic sound
I do hike this more that I expected. It feels raucous and varied in a way that kept my attention and would enjoy some repeated listens.
Es interesante, tiene buenos momentos. Sería un 3 y media
Ashamed to admit that Primal Scream was always one of those bands I was *aware of*, but didn't really know. This was great. "total vibe," as the kids might say.
I was surprised by this one. I loved it!
*whispers* vanishing point, vanishing point, vanishing point
This was really interesting and creative. I've heard of these guys, but knew very little about them until today. I was expecting hard screamy music and was happy that wasn't the case! As a mega fan of the Trainspotting soundtrack, I was excited to hear Trainspotting on here. I also really liked Burning Wheel and Motorhead, and loved the message in Star. Most of this is a little slower and spacier than I usually go for, but it really grew on me because of all the cool sounds to get lost in.
I was so pleasantly surprised by this album, the incorporation of different tones and rhythms while maintaining an overall catchy album is impressive. love when artists incorporate strange sounds, very unsettling and slightly eery ahah
This whole album felt like a slow climax to a peak, like in a film, but ironically the most climactic songs were the parts I was least interested in, i was a big fan of the quiet ambient parts, they felt hypnotic in soothing with a rock twist. But the more boisterous rock parts weren’t bad but not as interesting. All and all a good album that I will revisit
Überrascht 👍8/10
Not the sound I was expecting AT ALL. It doesn’t feel like a “rock” album until Medication. Burning Wheel as the opener had my mouth agape. Crazy soundscape, I was transported to a semi-psychedelic world.
I really enjoyed this. I haven't heard most of it and I can't think why I didn't buy it when it came out.
I wasn't sure at first but 4 Songs in I'm loving the instrumentation and Star has a great message :). Pretty dynamic honestly, If They Move Kill 'Em is intense and Out of the Void feels like a cold drink on a hot summer day! 8/10 (was at 7/10 at first)
Most of this album is some cosmic pre-Radiohead wonderfuless. The last coulple songs sound like a weak version of U2. The album as a whole doesn't get me, but the first part certainly is wonderful. 3.5/5
I was listening to this thinking it wasn’t really for me but I still liked it. I think if you can achieve that you deserve four stars.
This rocked, hit at the right times and was a great driving album
It's like a mix between general 90s grunge and Massive Attack, with various Damon Albarn projects sprinkled throughout. I can dig it
++: Kowalski, Star, If They Move, Kill 'Em, MotÖrhead, Trainspotting +: Burning Wheel, Get Duffy, Stuka, Medication, Long Life +-: Out of the Void 8,1/10
I had to listen to this a few times to make up my mind. Yes it's interesting and creative, but do I also like listening to it? Yes I do. And thanks to my wife I am reminded why - at times it sounds like dEUS (which is even better but I'm biased). An eclectic mix of instruments and electronics with a focus on soundscapes, drawing from (prog) rock and much more. I like this album better than their singles, and will explore more :-).
Couldn’t really classify what that was but it was pretty cool.
Gorillaz meets Stone Roses meets Massive Attack. 7/10
Enjoyed this. So far best album I have been recommended. Easy listening, and great background music.
solid 90's rock
Was not what I was expecting based off the band name. Now I want to watch vanishing point
I’m only familiar with Screamadelica and XTRMNTR, by Primal Scream so this was new to me. This one seems a little more laid back than what I’m used to from this band, leaning into that late nighties down tempo electronic sound. Even though it’s a chill album there’s plenty of knob turning ear candy and noisey guitar playing to keep the mind busy. I’ll be adding this one to a playlist or two.
I was disappointed with my revisit of Screamadelica after having liked it in the nineties, so my hopes weren't that high for this. But I ended up liking it quite a lot - definite krautrock vibes that I liked.
4.2
Wow, really surprised by this. It's a complete mishmash of styles, but it really works. I loved it! I really didn't expect to though. But yeah, I mean Stuka and Medication are two opposite ends of the spectrum but both work brilliantly. Not quite worth a 5 but a very solid 4. And yes I it is on the buy list.
Surprisingly very good....
Don't let their name fool you. Some really mellow tracks.
It was pretty cool and weird. Sometimes it sounded like sonic or nine inch nails
Very interesting
Primal Scream is "up my alley" musically speaking. Oddly enough though, I am not often deliberate in my seeking them out. I don't think there is any partcular reason for it, just there are as many good bands I actually remember as there are bands that I either don't know the names of (or connect songs with). Primal Scream is one of those "these guys are great" bands that are obscure enough (in a way) that they just don't come up much on any of my playlists. Nevertheless! I actually could listen to them all day long and not get bored, and I am glad for the re-introduction.
Great electronic/ambient/trip-hop and pyschedelic album from the 1990s UK music scene. Primal Scream is a great band, and it is a cool album. The band said it was inspired by a 70s movie and the album is really like some sort of road movie soundtrack. It is very enjoyable, and is recommended to anyone who like electronica and a bit trippy and chill music.
surprisingly good
Totally took me off guard Maximalist psychedelia Didn’t really want to listen more than once
Not a lot to say about individual tracks, but this was actually an enjoyable listen. Harder-edged trip-hop sound. 4 stars. In the right mood, I'd listen to this again.
Not what I expected with that artist name and album cover. Quite enjoyable.
Not at all bad
Great music to fold laundry to
Enjoyed this one more than I thought I would. And this will be excellent "working music" to have on in the background.
Now this is confusing. Unexpected and well, hard to describe. More mellow / trippy / clubby / strange lounge than expected. Kowalski ? The Penguin? A '97 album, with a track called Trainspotting? Feels like a disorienting nightclub movie scene - expertly made into an album. Ride it. Ride it. So, "Get Duffy" and "Star" are atmospheric and promising, but it gets too wierd to trust. I skip ahead to Trainspotting - now it all makes sense. This is the "sound"that defined the movie. Brillaint. Uneven Brillaince; geniuses. I didnt know I knew them so well. This is really, *really* out there, even for me. But if I was in a certain club at a certain time of my life, in a certain state, it might all work. But the nauseating sinking feeling of this takes me to the film set of Irriversible just a bit too much. In the Rare Art category for now - pending my review at alater date...
I enjoyed this more than I expected. I think the band name and album name left me thinking that the music would be quite different than it was. A mash up of all sorts of styles.
I may not choose to listen to this, but it’s interesting. A couple songs stuck out to me. This is the kind of record that belongs on this list. Lots of variety in the record.
I have a soft spot for Primal Scream and this album. It is nice to see a band reinvent itself with every album (at that stage at least). I love the concept of them giving the cult film that shares the name Vanishing Point a new soundtrack. Tracks like Kowalski and If They Move Kill 'Em are some of Primal Scream's best. Some of the other tracks nice experiments. Medication sounds like an outtake of their previous album, and feels totally out of place and to be honest isn't that good. Four stars from me as the album evokes strongs memories of '97 and seeing them live a few times when they toured the album
No likes but found myself enjoying it more than hating it. Rounding up.
First time with this band but I really liked it. Wide variety of styles, instrumentation, and overall super fun. Definitely looking more into them! 4/5
Pretty cool. Screamadelica is better, but this should not be slept on 👍
Fakk med d ass
Nothing mind blowing but definitely a very good album
This is good, reminded me of walking through a festival…some lovely instruments used, some dub vibes. Didn’t pick out any songs in particular, but really enjoyed listening while doing a creative project
Ganz erstaunlich gut. Kannte ich bisher gar nicht.
Absolutely loved this! I legitimately had no idea that the Scream has such a great catalogue as my only real experience with them is Screamadelica but this was awesome!
Amazing, really liked it. Wasn't at all what I was expecting
Giving this one the bump to four stars because why not? We've had another from Primal Scream, and I don't remember it being this kind of music at all. This one veers more into electronic sounds, a good bit of it dark and foreboding. Quite a few grooves that I managed to sink myself into, and I was hung up for a long time on "Trainspotting," that song has a sample used in it a few times (see 1:09 for the first reference) that I recognized immediately from Pusha T's "Lunch Money," a loosie produced by Kanye West. I'm pretty sure they both used the same underlying sample from a '70s album called Moog Indigo, which I absolutely need to listen to now. But yeah, some really cool tracks on here, great depth of electronic instrumentals, love having albums like this appear on the list (especially when they're good). Favorite tracks: Burning Wheel, Out of the Void, Medication, Trainspotting, Long Life. Album art: Not fantastic, the one on here is a collage of urban images, streets, signs, and some electronic instruments. Too much going on to really make a statement, but the font at least is good. Apple Music has a different cover, and it's really just the street shot from the bottom right corner of this album. Not necessarily better, but definitely less cluttered. 4/5
Who doesn’t like a bit of Primal Scream? This album isn’t quite as excellent as Screamadelica, but it is still definitely a good listen. It feels moodier than I’m used to in parts, but still keeps that hippy briotpop vibe. I didn’t recognise any tracks here (there is even a Motörhead cover, strangely) but I still enjoyed it. Screamadelica will still be my go-to album though.
Some great tracks, but doesn't reach the heights of Screamadelica
Who knows a '90s alt rock album could be so psychedelic? Delicious space flavored rock
Up there with their best work
The name Primal Scream always seems in conflict with the music they produce, to me. Still, I like both the name and the music. It was hard for me to put my finger on what this album was, even whether I liked it or not. I think this might need a re-listen, but it caught my interest the first time through.
Love it, love Roxy nuff said.
almost 5 stars
Actually really enjoyed this!!!
They kept you on your toes for every song which is good.
I quite enjoyed this here album. At first, when I saw that the first song was 7 minutes long and there was another that was 8 minutes long I was a bit apprehensive. I thought this was going to be another Public Image Ltd. debacle like that of four weeks ago. However I was pleasantly surprised. I really liked this, not quite enough to give it a five star but a solid four. The instrumentation was very well played and there was quite a bit of variety. Some of the lyrics were a little bit questionable but I can ignore that because the rest of it was quite good. There were songs with many different styles which helped the album not to drag. Would listen to again.
As long as you keep it as background music it's not bad at all.
excellent soundtrack to buying a toothbrush
I'm a fan of the 'Scream Team' and love that they constantly evolve and change styles. With such a varied discography, it's not surprising that some records, and styles, are better and more successful than others; but amongst their 40 year career they have created a handful of exceptional records. This is one of them. I've had Vanishing Point in my CD collection for 20+ years, but failed to give it much of an active listen, seeing it primarily as a stepping stone to XRMNTR (great album). Thanks to this project I've rectified that and discovered that whilst it has fewer instant bangers and is more of a vibe piece than XRMNTR, it's an excellent record in its own right. Rating: 4/5 Playlist track: Kowalski Date listened: 10/02/24
listened to this whole thing while on a walk and i liked it a lot. it's giving james bond but if we tossed out the smooth tuxedo and replaced it with a rough leather jacket. rugged and rustic, this album has more than enough cool... i dunno, windy kinds of sounds, and i was pretty into it.
With little knowledge of their earlier records, I have very little context for this album. But, holy moly it's got some depth to it. They're really aiming for something here. Cosmic lounge music pushed through a heavy psychedelic filter. Like if a robot bartender took acid in the deserts on Mars.
eh? not bad. didn't hold my attention, though
Happy surprise. Several really nice tracks on here, along with plenty of experimentation.
Rating: 7/10 Best songs: Medication, Trainspotting
Great stuff
This was really great. Passed me by, until now, strangely.
There's so much good shit going off here. It's a road album that fucks with your head, such is the level of confusion. My kinda listening. Styles chop and change, but without ever feeling disjointed. Mani's bass lines are a killer, contrasting delicately with Bobby G's fairy vocals. You get the feeling that this album is incredibly fragile. Drop it on the floor and the band will break - which is pretty much what happened. Echo Dek is half decent as well.
I was vaguely familiar with Primal Scream before listening to this album but I was pleasantly surprised by this record. Totally chill vibe was the right vibe for me when listening. Def has a signature 90s sound which I dig.
its a little slow to start, but I like the noise in the beginning of burning wheel. I don't listen to much of this genre, I'm not even sure what it's called, but it's interesting. kowalski is a little intense. star is real nice and groovy, makes sense why it's more popular, it's more normal. medication might me by least favorite so far. I like how each song has a slightly unique vibe, they are not too samey. long life is calming and pretty, I like how the album swings between more intense sounds to very soothing sounds like this, it keeps things interesting, but I prefer the more soothing sounds.
This was actually very cool, industrial sounding and very well mastered. I like all the wacky sounds, but played all together it's a very nice video game soundtrack. I could totally imagine playing this whole album while speedrunning half life 1.
Not a bad album
Very surprised I enjoyed this despite being Scottish melange of hiphop, rap, KrautRock. I listened twice and would listen again.
Britisch Late 90s Mood Album 4/5
Make chill sound, call yourself Primal Scream.
The least electronic sounding electronic album. Very funky. Occasionally the atonal and arythmic intros and outros go on for what I would consider too long, but the core of each track is absolutely lovely.
Weird album, I love it.
Super interesting, original.
I might like this more than Screamadelica, honestly. It's very close, in any case. Cool album.
As the reviews show, you either like this a lot, or hate it a lot. I’m in the latter category. Trippy stuff and just a vibe. Might be vibe over substance sometimes, but that’s not all the time. Although the rock and electronic music fusion is cool, it has been done better. Not perfect, but I liked this one!
first listen cool stuff
Primal Scream tossed a bunch of genres in a blender and poured out Vanishing Point. The base is Electronic but there’s also some Industrial, Alt-rock, dance and even some country is evident on the opening riff of Medication. First 3 tracks drew me in, If They Move, Kill ‘Em and Stuka both had good energy and and I really enjoyed the slow burn or Trainspotting. Only negatives on this are Star and the Album art is terrible. Nice surprise overall though. 4 stars
As much the producers record as the band's, an interesting listen that I feel I haven't quite understood. But as background or purely for entertainment rather than logic, very enjoyable.
Was focused on work so I didn't take notes but I was surprised at how much I liked this! Went in expecting screamo/metal and ended up getting something much more subtle and interesting. I'll give this another listen, for sure! 4/5 stars
The beginning of this album makes me feel like I'm inside an episode of Stranger Things. I'm intrigued. Not bad for listening to while working or concentraing on other things. Interesting but not distracting.
Love the experimentation. Different styles and genres.
No idea what to expect here... Slow build on the lead track eventually gives way to a psych-infused instrumental with 90s electronic drum that seems so typical of the UK indie scene during this era. Sounds just like a Verve song from the album a few weeks ago. Tis early yet, but this feels like a good album to shoot heroin to. Get Duffy is an sprawling instrumental groove. Nice funky background music. Were this about 2 minutes shorter, I could mistake this as an instrumental interlude on Beastie Boys' Hello Nasty. Kowalski is lead by a driving bass riff and warbling electronic sounds. Seems ready made for a galaxy hopping sci-fi flick. It jams. Drops back into chilled-out "Star." Kind of a boring song imo. Feels like a B-Side Gorillaz song. I like If They Move, Kill 'Em a lot. Funky palm guitar work with a hip-hop drum track and some horns forming the emphasis mid-section. This is a cool one. This blends seamlessly into Out of This Void which is another spacey number with plenty of psych effects and sounds swirling behind an otherwise minimal keys arrangement. This one-two is the high-water mark of the album thus far. Stuka is a cool electro-dubby song. Steezy and once again reminiscent of Gorillaz in a sense. Medication is the most straightforward rock song I think this album has. It has a fuzziness to the production and delivery that reminds me of Spoon. Trainspotting is a cool song. Sounds like the intro was recorded in a sewer or something with some slick drums and guitar introduced a minute and a half in. Creates a cool, tripped-out atmosphere. I honestly was expecting to be disappointed going into this album and by the opener, but have been pleasantly surprised. This album absolutely jams. Filled front to back with psych and funk infused electro indie jams, this was not the generic euro rock-pop that I thought it would be. While no individual song stands out as something I would replay over and over, I still call this a strong 4 / 5 that is better than the sum of its parts. I will absolutely jam this again in the future.
2nd Primal Scream album on the list, Screamadelica I had listen, this one I have not. I really enjoyed this and honestly I wish I had listen to this when it release I would have enjoyed it more then. More rock oriented and more suited to my listen style now, basically while I work.
Seeing that this album was meant to be a "sort of" movie soundtrack makes sense. It's an eclectic mixture of mood-music with the odd vocals thrown in here and there. I was looking forward to the cover of Motorhead, but that actually felt a bit dull then it finally came along. Lots of Happy Mondays vibes. I hovered between a 3-star and 4-star rating, but in the end I think this would be great music to have on in the background and I'm going to go for the higher score for that reason alone.
Never having listened to this band before, I didn't know what to expect. I then read the wiki page and my expectations were pretty low. But this weird genre mash-up that actually does feel like the soundtrack of a hypothetical movie actually works and sounds pretty good. It probably helps that it isn't actually a soundtrack and thereby not bound to the needs of the film material. Be that as it may, I enjoyed it.
pretty gangstered sounding but anxiety's going ape-mode today so definitely could've enjoyed it more on another day, so in reality like 3 stars but I know it'd be 4 on a good day
Interesting, don't know if I would listen to it again though
Some duds but some absolute bangers
Once again, the genius of Andrew Weatherall (and Martin Duffy) shine through on this album. Any time you sense their hand firmly on the tiller it's a dubby, dark, claustrophobic masterpiece. Any time you sense Bobby Gillespie has taken charge, it's pants. Medication, for example, or some of the 'edgy' bits on Kowalski. The one exception is Still, it was my introduction to dub and echo as an instrument in itself, and I'll always love it for that.
pretty good 4-star rock right here.
Dubby goodness
Pretty nice record. Motörhead is a huge hit
This is basically just ambient background music. I actually don't mind it at all. A lot of it is quite experimental and bit weird, some of it repetitive af, but overall I mostly enjoyed this Saved tracks: Burning Wheel, Kowalski, Medication, Trainspotting
Strong though occasionally overreaching in the direction of abstraction and obscurity. "Stuka" doesn't work nearly as well as "Trainspotting," say. "Star" is easily the best cut. The rave-y neo-hippie vibe has aged reasonably well.
Surprisingly groovy with an assortment of melodies, and slick beats on par with the late 90s, this was an enjoyable listen. In particular, the track "Trainspotting" was well done and was a fine choice for near the end of the album.
I will be disappointed if this is the only PS album in the list. In my opinion not their best but still good.
First of all, XTRMNTR is a better album than this one, and should have be chosen to accompany Screamadelica in the book. That said, this is a good album with some great tracks, let down by a few weak ones.
Primal Scream have such a unique sound and its very previlent in this album. All the songs just flow nicely from one to the other, not even realising its a new song. Making it a great experiance though not as good as 'Screamadelica'. (8-9/10)
I've grown to see a 50+ minute-long 90s electronic album from this list and assume it's gonna be long and tedious, but Primal Scream (known for the famous Madchester masterpiece Screamadelica) shows us you could produce a fusion of psychedelia, electronica, and ambiance with a strong rock base to produce something unique and exciting. Every track is busy with industrial and space-like noises to create a strange alien ambient landscape. It's a lot more mellow and subtle than their other records, and although I do think it's weaker than Screamadelica, it's held together by a consistency by fits a certain mood if I'm looking to have this as cool background music or to disassociate into other worlds with. I do prefer the tracks with Gillespie's eery vocals. There were several weak songs, and yes I guess it didn't completely escape from the lengthiness of 90s electronica, but I did find something enjoyable about every one. Favorites: Burning Wheel, Star, Medication, Trainspotting
Probably my favourite Scream album
I like this album 4/5
I do like some primal scream. Fun listen
To me this is a major improvement over "Screamadelica." I sort of enjoy the unfocused, atmospheric mess of this, and the influences are top notch. I hear wafts of Can beats, samples of Miles Davis' fusion material, some Stooges rock that slaps you in the face out of nowhere, and of course a strong Dub influence (with Augustus Pablo on melodica no less!). I'm into the hazy, druggy, loose, kitchen sink experimentation of it all. Using the Vader mask on "Motorhead" is a good clue that they weren't taking themselves too seriously and were just fucking around, having fun, and being themselves. Probably would've been a blast to hang out with them during the recording of this. Having disliked "Screamadelica" (I rated it a 2), I thought I was going to hate this. But I have to say, as I continue to listen to this album, I've gotta give them the Most Improved Artist award. Actually kinda regret I wasn't into this upon it's initial release as it would've been right up my alley.
I don’t love the lead vocalist. The rest of the instrumentation is pretty cool Medication is a pretty standout song. This is one of those albums where I could see myself giving other albums by them a 5 but this just slightly missed that mark
I was afraid when I saw the album cover, but this album kept me invested with repeated listens.
I was expecting a band called Primal Scream to be screamier. They weren't! Mostly chill dance vibes here. The dance tracks are far better than the others. Star, a song with a message, is particularly on the nose and a little cringey. But overall, I enjoyed this. Groovy and sedate.
With a name like Primal Scream, one might expect music that’s hard, nasty and brutish. Instead this album is melodic and flows easily from one song to the next, incorporating elements of dub and ambient music.
Hidden gem. Very good
I can see this album being divisive, but I had a lot of fun with it. Although this would drive me crazy if I was stuck in traffic.
Coooool
When Primal scream went electronic. Has great groovy elements, with some weird noisy soundscapes. Some work perfect, like Burning wheel, others become too weird to my taste though. But a solid album in general!
Varying vibes throughout the album, some tracks with nice vocals and others more based on electronic rock which were quite nice
This album is almost great. It features a mix of house, dub, rock, ambient, and experimental electronic music. Most of this is executed very well. However, there are moments on some of the more experimental pieces which don't quite work. It's as if they heard Aphex Twin and tried to do what he did without actually putting the time in to learn how. The elements are there, but the arrangement is not. Luckily, these moments are few and far between. Nevertheless, this band cannot be said to have picked a lane and stayed in it and their willingness to try something new makes this an album that is great in the background, but is also rewarded with a closer listening.
This is a real revalation- of course I've heard these guys in passing but never really listened to this album. It's a real eclectic mix of style - not entirely original but I found this really enjoyable. Rock 'n roll and trip hop meets electronic industrial.
Interesting...kept my attention
shit had me creamin
Well very nearly, 2 days before the 25th anniversary this comes up. Lovely. It does sort of feel its age to me this one, I guess because I lived through it and heard it lots at the time but not much since. This is the last Scream album I listened to in great detail. The 90s big beat style is front and centre. Medication is a hangover from when they thought they were the Rolling Stones and sounds a lot like 'Rocks', I can take or leave that one. Still, it's a very good album. The dub stuff is great, Long Life is great, Burning wheel is up there with the best things they've ever done, and Trainspotting stands up well, probably the one song on this album I have heard the most down the years in fact.
Music for earphones.
This just plays like a soundtrack in my head...after a few rough albums this one has several tracks added to my list not including Trainspotting which was already under the obvious soundtrack list...
Didn't quite grab me as much as Screamadelica but still something I'd like to spend further time with. Fave: Trainspotting.
Pretty damn hott this album. Dance rock at it's best. I warmed to thus one more easily than Screamadelica, which still hasn't quite done it for me. But this album makes me want to try Screamadelica another spin see what I'm missing. Anyway Vanishing Point locks into some awesome dance grooves. Very enjoyable. 4 🌟
This album is terrific. Nicely crafted sound, beautifully trippy, musically creative and diverse. The tonal shifts from song to song are sometimes pretty weird and extreme, but somehow it works. Fave Songs: Star, Motörhead, Long Life, Medication, If They Move, Kill 'Em, Stuka
A proper trip. I've never gelled with much other Primal Scream stuff, but this album is a stoned killer.
