Reviews (page 6 of 7)

It's listenable and has some good moments there and there but overall it feels like generic American pop rock shit. Lyrics are very uninteresting imo.

Yeah, not bad… pretty MOR but that’s the idea I think. Some nice bits along the way.

I feel like this is exactly what you get when a record exec wants a generic female singer-songwriter sound. It's just a boring album overall, and it really struggles to keep your attention. I've heard "All I Wanna Do" a million times growing up in the 90s, but really listening to it now, the pedal steel is pretty damn good on that track. I also don't know if this was by design and I don't care to research it, but "The Na Na Song" heavily reminds me of "Give Peace a Chance" with that rapid-fire, semi-chanting of words.Beyond those couple of moments, the rest of the tracklist just falls completely flat. The production feels way too safe and polished, stripping away any real edge or grit that could have made these songs stand out. Most of the deep cuts just drag on and blend into the background as uninspired pop-rock filler. Sheryl Crow clearly has a solid voice, but the songwriting here relies so heavily on standard mid-90s radio tropes that the album ends up feeling formulaic and dated. It works fine as harmless background music, but it lacks the distinct personality or memorable hooks to make it something worth revisiting.

Pretty white bread boring production and nothing that really caught me until the last couple songs Highlights: "We Do What We Can", "I Shall Believe"

I liked this a lot when it came out. I don’t so much feel that way anymore. Her voice has become a bit piercing, maybe shrill is a better word, at many points. I don’t hate it, but I’m definitely not looking to listen to it again anytime soon.

A couple decent tracks here and I’ll give Crow some credit, she has some songwriting chops. Unfortunately, this is a 50 minute album and most of it is boring, this was a slog. 50 mins of Crow is far too much… one could say it’s a murder… I’m dead. 2 stars

Oh this was so bland and boring. Just the most radio friendly beige nothingness music. I ended up skipping chunks of songs and went back to listen to my last band, Pere Ubu, because they actually sound like something and are trying to do something with their music

2 out of 5. Not my cup of tea.

Not really made for a man in his 60s. Just background noise until we come to the na na song what a load of annoying noise. Was looking at a banal 3 that song knocks it down a point.

I kinda liked Run Baby Run tbh

She definitely went on to make a name for herself, so I was surprised how lackluster this debut was. Her voice is super shaky and the song arrangements are often dull at best. Perplexing why this was included if you ask me.

old taylor swift?

"All I Wanna Do" goes against everything I believe in.

The behind the scenes drama in the making and promoting of this album is more interesting than the music itself. Strong Enough still really goes hard though.

Annoying, and the few songs that are good are really cheesy. Not for me.

Serviceable pop. Why is this on the list though?

I never sat down and actually listened to her before, but this is not bad at all. Don't get me wrong - this is not my cup of tea at all, but quite descent after all, might even get 3 stars.

90s kitchen music

I've never heard this record before the last couple of days, but the singles were fairly inescapable. Listening to it, its pretty clear that this is a product of some pretty talented musicians who have a good grasp of roots music and a production team that knows how to package and update that sound. Crow is a talented singer and fairly strong songwriter. I tended to prefer the slower songs. It's also just too slick for my tastes and I'm almost certain to listen to it again.

3 good songs and the rest are generic and sound the same, except the one where she talk-raps stream of consciousness culture nonsense. That song sucks.

Tempted to give it 5 as Arsenal just won the league after 22 years but it was pretty rubbish so a 2 it is.

If you looked to ‘middle of the road’ in the dictionary you might find a picture of Sheryl Crow. Bland, boring, and derivative. Nothing was hideous enough to make me want to turn this off straight away but the whole thing just grated. Bongos (‘solidify’) and guiro (‘all I wanna do’) are interesting choices to feature predominantly, along with pedal steel guitar but I did not enjoy it.

Crow is a great songwriter and musician. That being said, I thought i world enjoy this more. It felt really bland to me

medio lope

I thought I liked Cheryl Crow. I think I just like one song....

Testing My Patience Music Club

i actually hate it. i’m sorry

Sheryl Crow has to be one of my favorite guilty pleasure artists as I think she has an absolutely fabulous 4 album run and Tuesday Night Music Club is the beginning of that very strong start she got herself off to. Not even a huge Country guy like that, but there is something about her sometimes cheesy, but loads of fun Country Rock style that really wins me over. I think because this is Sheryl's debut album that it is definitely a bit weirder and wacky at times like with the very Talking Heads-esc Solidify. Even still with that novelty put aside, this project still is a blast even if it is far from the best thing I've ever heard. All I Wanna Do, Run Baby Run, and We Do What We Can are all my highlights of this project, but everything else here does feel a bit flat in presentation and honestly a bit lifeless. Now I can still totally turn on this album and jam out but as a whole it does come off a bit rough and is held up by some killer highlights. It is a nice start for Sheryl that really helped secure her Pop appeal in Country Rock, but I think some of her next projects showcase her skills much better even if they are sprinkled all over this album.

This isn't really for me, I was hoping for a pleasant surprise, however... It's all a bit meh, vocal way to high in the mix, sounds like song writing by committee for a rom com TV series that is written by committee and isn't funny. Some splashes of talent and her voice packs punch and range.

Glad to have listened to it… but won’t listen again.

Ofantligt trist, men inte så hemskt att det förtjänar en etta

Bra sångerska men inte särskilt intressant musik.

Bra röst men rätt trött i övrigt

This gal is known to me for 2 (At least 2! Vaguely remember a 3rd or even 4th?) of the most kick-off-your-shoes, let-your-hair-down, feel-good, happy-go-lucky, “guilty pleasure” fun, carefree, dancin-est songs in all of pop music. There’s only one of them on this album tho. Dig the slow jazzy cut too. Otherwise unremarkable. Two stars.

unfathomably mid and genuinely a hard listen at some points. just like weird country slop but it wasn't even country.

Album #137 Sheryl Crow: Tuesday Night Music Club I feel like Sheryl Crow is one of those names that I would just hear referenced from either millennials I knew or millennial media, and I just accepted that she was famous and never paid it any mind; meanwhile, I don’t think I could have ever named a song by her. Obviously, now I realize I was aware of her through the hit song from this album, “All I Wanna Do”, but I can’t say that anything else here was familiar. This was actually a fair bit better than I expected it to be, an interesting blend of genres, from country to pop and even jazz. There are some definite standout tracks here, but what really holds the album back is the middle stretch. I think the first and last three tracks are all pretty good to great, but the middle five do nothing for me. Overall, as far as the whole '90s pop-country thing goes, I’ve never really been a fan; however, this album was actually quite good for what it is. Best Songs: Leaving Las Vegas, All I Wanna Do, I Shall Believe Worst Songs: The Na-Na Song Score out of 10: 5.5

File under “easy listening”. Absolutely fine. Standout is obviously “All I Wanna Do” but I still think that’s only because of the hook she nicked off Stealers Wheel

One hit album, nemam ništa drugo za reći. 2/5, 3/10

Plodding, excruciatingly dull. This is not an album I needed to listen to.

I would’ve been feeling this more had I been a middle aged white woman in the mid 90s.

Felt the last few songs were the best, up to that the songs were fine but nothing special, it's an easy listen but not amazing

This record sucks. I remember half of the songs on this record when they were popular 30 years ago, and time has not been their friend. It’s sort of like Sheryl Crow started to write some boring songs and then brought them to the studio where some producer finished the job. But the result is a bunch of completely gutless radio fodder. To be fair, this collection of uninspired and lightly feminist drivel WAS wildly popular in 1993. But I see this as a case where a million people can be wrong. Sheryl Crow doesn’t have a great voice and she doesn’t write compelling music, but she is easy on the eyes. The cynic in me believes this has more to do with why she got so popular than the content of her actual work, which is just so, so boring. 4.5/10

All I wanna do is have some fun. But the album isn't that good to begin with. The big single is worth the ticket to the list, but nothing else reaches that high.

Rating: 4/10 Not the best for me. Lots of singer-songwriter material I would rather reach for than ever listen to Sheryl Crow. A grating country rock style that's kinda cornball. A few decent songs at the beginning. The songs are a little too drawn out and hurt the pacing more. Even All I Wanna Do is annoying. The album ends with a moody lounge-y piano tune that I don't like and an ok closer that doesn't save the last 50 minutes of mild suffering

Wasn't really expecting to see Sheryl Crow on this list

Interesting if I was into folk rock.

There were a couple of songs that weren't bad/I didn't expect but in general I really don't like Sheryl Crow's music

Shoutout to Sheryl Crow for making Lightning McQueen's hype song, but boy was this some basic pop. All the flavour of plain chicken and rice. Solidify was the only standout. Overall, a fine album, but for the 1000 most influential you'd think they were years ahead of this.

I really liked how she incorporated jazz, disco all into folk rock and country but I only liked a few songs on here and it felt very lack luster.

Safe and inoffensive. Not much about this album stood out to me. The blues-y and funky songs were cool, but otherwise it's kind of... whatever. Not bad by any means, but I suppose it's kind of hard to make a bad album when you do half of your record by the books, and only the other half attempts to do something interesting. I'm also absolutely for fun, feel-good and dreamy pop, but I prefer when those songs draw you in with their aesthetic. This record just kind of sounds like background music. 2/5.

Not my thing. "Strong Enough" and "All I Wanna Do" are tolerable.

1 o 2 canciones medianamente pegajosas cuando mucho. 2.3

Leaving Las Vegas was painful to listen to… and not a good way. I’ve always thought I disliked Sheryl Crow and now can confirm it through direct experience.

Like a sad bad version of a good liz pair record. Not for me.

I’ve always heard bits and pieces of songs from Sheryl Crow, but never got around to listening to her. Seeing the cover and after listening to the album, it feels like the 2010’s. Not in a particularly bad way, but still…not my favorite music to listen to. There are definitely some standout tracks, like Strong Enough and Run, Baby, Run. Still, as the album progresses and shifts between tracks, it leans more into the 90’s soft rock by the end. Still, her voice can bring an issue. She, in a way, reminds me of Alanis Morissette, with the quality and technique in their voices. Still, she seems to shout at times while she’s singing, which isn’t really my style. But, though I do like some songs, this album wasn’t for me, but I certainly see the appeal! For me, it also became a bit repetitive with the familiar guitar on every track. Not bad, but eh.

I was hopeful. I never minded "All I Want to Do", but had never listened to the rest of this album. It's not good.

I mean... why is this here? There's nothing that really stands out. It feels very much like a product of its time. There's nothing offensively bad or anything, but also nothing worth noting. It's ok, but it's pretty pointless. I mostly feel disappointed.

Boring, all i wanna do is ok, but say car wash one more time I dare you also: wasn't watching spotify and then a songe came where I thought "hey that one is cool i know that", but i'm afaid that was the first song after this album was through

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Album #34, Sheryl Crow, Tuesday Night Music Club ⭐⭐ A 90s album with some of the worst 90s pop tropes. This actually starts off very strong. Sheryl has a good voice, her lyrics didn’t initially offend, and it’s a kind of heartland rock, Americana pop style that I was enjoying. The first four tracks really set the album up as a solid alt-country experience. She’s no Lucinda Williams, but it felt like it was heading in a direction I liked. Then Solidify comes on and it all deteriorates very quickly. Once the beats get bigger, the quality drops. Run, Baby, Run is a no, no, no. Sheryl is rapping on this and it just feels desperate. We have a slight return to her roots on No One Said It Would Be Easy, but the chorus is so unbelievably clichéd that it completely distracts from the emotional weight of the song. I’ll give her some props for What I Can Do for You. It’s a brave song, and the sleaziness of the character she’s playing genuinely makes me uncomfortable, so that one works. All I Wanna Do is okay. We’ve all heard it a million times, so I’m already jaded by it. My gym plays it constantly. I can understand why it was a hit, but it’s one of my least favourite forms of 90s pop, that white-rapping-trying-to-be-cool style. And then We Do What We Can, a foray into lounge jazz. At this point I just didn’t care for it. It feels like she’s throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks. There’s a slight return to form for I Shall Believe, but by then all my goodwill is gone. Not for me, this one

it’s the 90’s. Your mom’s chain smoking cigs in her trailblazer. She just served your dad papers. You’re in the KFC drive thru ordering a 5 dollar bucket. Mom is singing this with the windows down and has never looked happier. Brothers in here saying this is the female Tom Petty. I don’t see it. This is just divorced mom rock. This is one of those albums that FEELS like it’s time. This is so 90’s coded. I kinda mess with it actually. Fav tracks: Na Na Song, Solidify

Rootsrock... 6/10 Highlights We Do What We Can

Not too shabby. Never heard of her. I liked Run Baby Run and Solidify.

Just average pop rock. 5.9/10

I can't really place this type of music.

it was eh

Eh I kind of didn't prefer these vocals, and the lyrics were not interesting enough to make up for the relatively bland instrumentals. Yes, this is a well-produced album, but it ain't my thing. 2/5

Listening to all of it shows my commitment to this. What a slog.

It's a pop record with some tinges of other things. For the most part, the songs are rather disposable. They are well-produced and I understand why they were hits. I just don't like them very much.

Run, Baby, Run // All I Wanna Do // 2.5/5

En jaksanut kuunnella loppuun. 1,75/5.

Why would you include the debut album of someone who is almost exclusively known for the handful of extremely catchy radio hits from her second album? All I wanna do is the only one on here that made a mark. It's perfect fine pop rock with a tinge country twang and high spec 90s production, but none of the songs rise above pleasant background padding.

Boring

Highly inconsequential. Just incredibly mediocre, this was boring background music

Ca a dépassé mes attentes inexistantes.

2 and a half. Some decent tunes

I wanted to like it but I didn't so I'm sorry crowgirl

It's aight, not exactly life changing.

Favorite Track: Run, Baby, Run

very basic, some songs are boring or annoying, although i liked "run, baby, run", "we do what we can", "i shall believe", 2

Sadly, All I Wanna Dois really the only good song on this.

All I Wanna Do is obviously well-regarded for a reason, but just about the entire rest of this album is split between slow ballad-y stuff I actively dislike, and Momcore Chunes For Your Workday Commute that if I heard them at a restaurant or bar I would never even clock that music was playing

Sheryl Crow is in her 60s now and that is upsetting. Anyhow it is sort of generic jangle guitar in the first half, and then gets more interesting in the second half, and is very pleasant even if I never got really excited.

It was fine

This isn't awful but I feel like an album like this is why people wanted Napster so they could just get singles without having to pay C$20

Run, Baby, Run- Wasn't a huge song for me, good chorus, but an eh for me Leaving Las Vegas- at times the voice makes me cringe, sounds forced, this songs pretty basic wouldn't come back to this Strong Enough- Like the finger picking acoustic intro, not a fan of her voice at this point 3 songs have passed now and nothing is memorable out of the bunch, I see all i wanna do is up next which i know and like but aside from that it's not been my favorite

I like Sheryl Crow, but this album is not my favorite. The sings felt very repetitive.

Never listened. Expectations: Low - Verdict: Not For Me - I expected to really dislike this. I think Sheryl Crow was a name that I had heard without really knowing much about her. Much better than expected with a couple songs I would absolutely listen to.

Very bland

Pretty boring and a drag to get through.

i can appreciate the role she played for women in 90’s music, but overall, not a very interesting album

The famous song is good. The rest of the album not so much.

hmmmmm, one iconic song from the album. honestly not my vibe but still a good album something about this album just didn't click for me, maybe it was the melodies but I wish it did because I wanted to like it

Yeah, two cool songs on this, the rest kinda mediocre. From all the easy listening female vocalist albums that have passed. Sheryl Crow warms my heart the least

I didn’t mind this, but mildly admiring an artist’s efforts at asserting themselves musically doesn’t make it more enjoyable. Very average but nothing especially wrong with it, after a recent poor run I guess I’m chalking it up as a draw.

I mean I guess

If Rod Stewart was a woman he would be called Sheryl Crowe. Most of this album was forgettable except for the last two songs, those felt more sincere

some nice moments but generally a little too mom-jeans for me; also the album title and cover art are fucking awful.

Not for me, felt quite boring, it sounds like something you'd hear in a grocery store. One interesting song : solidify. 2/5

We gave this a reluctant listen at 3:AM on January first. I just wasn't expecting to be wowed by Sheryl Crow, I couldn't name a song of hers, and after listening to this record I still can't. It was a bad idea to give this a listen on my phone's speakers, it strips too much away from the experience. A listen on some decent earbuds and at least it's not terrible. The overall production is pretty top notch honestly, smooth and well executed. It's pop rock, I think the appeal leans heavy on the songwriting and that aspect didn't click with me, either. 1.7/5

++: Solidify, What I Can Do For You, All I Wanna Do, We Do What We Can +: Run Baby Run, Leaving Las Vegas, Can't Cry Anymore, The Na-Na Song, I Shall Believe +-: Strong Enough, No One Said It Would Be Easy 5,5/10

Sorry Sheryl I am busy Tuesday nights

A couple of okay songs but mostly quite boring

All I wanna do is a bop, but rest of the album isnt my cup of tea.

not for me

I have to say, this albums greatest accomplishment is that it made me have a ton of respect for Sheryl Crow. I didn’t have a strong opinion o her one way or another and if you asked me what her biggest hit song was that made her a household name I couldn’t tell you what it was. But I did think going into this album that I probably wouldn’t like it. And for the most part that was accurate, but the album had its moments as well. The biggest being the huge hit song on this album “all I want to do” which I definitely remember being everywhere when I was a kid and in fact I remember hearing it at amusement parks on vacation as a kid. But it’s really catchy and endearing, it’s genuinely a great song. The other two songs I liked a lot were strong enough and Solidify. The later of which is really impressive, it not only shows the variety of sound on this mom-pop album and also shows the risks she was willing to take on this album cause this is a HUGE left turn sonically. It almost sounds like it might be a joke throwaway song but it’s actually one of if not the best song on the album. But yah the real problem is that this album is just so boring as a whole. It’s just a mom-pop album and it’s pretty bland but here and there it has its moments.

radio-friendly, lightweight

Lite småtrevlig kompetent popmusik, men krossar väl inga regimer direkt.

Men lite småsur.

Pointe-Calumet Core. Pécerie Core.

Not a fan.

Not for me

1st half good. 2nd half bad.

Imagine being Bonnie Rait in 1993, she's been working for like 20 years and then she hits gold with 90's divorced moms and then this young whippersnap comes out of nowhere with 'Strong Enough'. I don't know how I feel about Sheryl Crow, I don't know if I needed to hear her music before I died. I just happened to hear it because of the years that I lived. The lyrics on the 'na na song' were pretty good in the microgenre of "songs where people just unleash a flurry of topical stuff that rhymes". I'm somewhere between 2 and 3 stars.

Not the worst thing ever but the very clean production on this doesn't do it any favours 2.5*

This was boring. It's telling that no one really noticed the album until the 4th single was released. Sherly is about the most "average" pop star I can think of.

This woman has an amazing knack of making every single song go on just a bit longer than it should. Every track outstays its welcome, to the point I figure she must be doing it on purpose. It's all quite inoffensive, but really quite dull.

Not my style

While Sheryl has made some decent and catchy pop hits, I don't find her wider music particularly great. This is still a very decent debut album, but I am not the biggest fan of these tracks or her voice.

This is mostly music meant for grocery stores, but it still has its moments.

Mir gefällt die Stimme nicht.

This sucks shit

I’m certainly not the target audience for this one. It’s competent and varied enough that I can’t give it one star but I this one was a bit more of a chore than usual. 3/10

I mean, it's a pop rock record that aims for the mainstream so of course (almost) all the hits are at the front while the rest is packed by filler songs that are just there to fill the air. But that doesn't matter because all that was needed was a couple of big hits to sell massive amount of CDs and that's what we have here. Too bad I'm not interested in the hits either.

She doesn’t sound good in the album. Could be the production or her techniques. Music wise it’s just ok. Nothing too special. Poppy but not catchy. Pretty mediocre for me.

It was alright. I liked some songs, didn’t like others. “All I Wanna Do” obviously has a banging chorus, but the song as a whole is pretty clunky. A little bit disappointed with this one.

There are a few decent songs on here, but also a few stinkers (Na Na is one of them). And Crow seemed to ditch these guys that collaboratively made this music as soon as she was famous, which doesn't seem entirely cool

In principal I really like a lot of female solo vocalist’s and apart from Peter Gabriel, a lot more than their male counterparts. Unfortunately this does not apply to Sheryl Crow. This album not a complete disaster as it’s made up of quite a few different genres. Enough to make it stand out and I can see why it’s on the list. A once through listen was not wasted time but if asked to listen again would have to say I’m washing my hair. 2/5 1/11/25

The singles are the highlights, and those highs aren't even that high. It gets nostalgia points, but it isn't exactly pushing any boundaries.

The instruments used here were grating to the ears. The vocals did not really help either. Favourite Track(s): Solidify, We Do What We Can Least Favourite Track(s): Leaving Las Vegas, The Na-Na Song, No One Said It Would Be Easy

Deserves to be on the list. Very much not aimed at me. Too smug and aloof from pop

I was expecting something country-ish, but I got a lot of music that seems tailor-made to be played to underscore emotional moments in mid-budget 2000s romcoms or CW shows where the heroine is sad or whatever. The Na-Na Song was a bit more interesting, clearly influenced by Subterranean Homesick Blues. Also, was I the only Brit who thought "Cheryl Cole? What's she doing on this list?" Honestly, after listening, Cheryl has about as much right to be on it.

Even my local grocery store plays more interesting music than this nowadays

It was kinda boring honestly but I guess I only listened to like 3 songs so that's probably part of it.

Didn't dig it.

IDK its really basic but, some sort of catchy songs on here, I thought this was one of those washed up country singers, who released stuff a few decades after their heyday, but no, this is her first album. Obviously there's some emotive stuff on here, but it's just not that interesting generally. However the Solidify song is actually really good, perhaps by accident, as the rougher singing style and distorted disco guitars makes it feel quite interesting and experimental, while most of the rest feels quite safe. The elements of country stuff are quite cheesy and outdated, probably why I thought it was washed-up singer. Favourite songs: Solidify, I shall believe (I like the synths on this last one) Overall around 4/10

Best Track - "All I Wanna Do"

This album is the definition of the word 'okay' it's like no song is great and no song is bad it's just okay.

Was expecting more of the album to have the "All I wanna Do" vibe, but its a lot more chill. Fine tunes, seems like could be fun to learn and play on guitar too

The title of the album really fits my impression of the music: some nice background music in a club or coffee bar on a Tuesday night. While it really isn't that bad anywhere, the highs just really don't lift it towards anything more than a 2/5.

Sounds like a typical mid 90s pop album. Not bad, but nothing very interesting.

One good tune. Rest sh*te.

So adult contemporary I can feel the denim rush against my skin

Actually a decent album considering it was mostly a one hit at the time. High 2s.

Run Baby Run is a horrible opening track, it's maybe an early-second-half-of-the-album track. Honestly, this album isn't particularly notable. I could be convinced that Sheryl Crow belongs on this list, but not with this album

It’s got that weird 90s overproduced sound. Definitely not my jam

Highlight: Strong Enough. It was a revelation at time of release. Now, it’s just okay. Most of the lyrics on the album (composed by the songwriting collective Sheryl was part of) are fantastic. Music however, shaky. I hate the pre-programmed synth drum beat. It’s mixed too loud and recycled throughout. Pedal steel, guitar and piano are good. Sheryl’s voice is perfect. Strong Enough is an evergreen classic. All I Wanna Do was killed by over saturation. The stomp-clap rap akin to Billy Joel's We Didn’t Start The Fire (The Na-Na Song) is cringey. The closing track would be the perfect episode or series closer of a soapie. It’s serviceable Overall: 4/10

Ok 2/5

This just makes me sad about Kevin Gilbert -- any of his albums deserve to be here over this trite, Sheryl Crow is nothing without the people she actively screwed over. She's more of a vulture than a crow.

I started thinking I'd be giving this album a 3, but then I listened to the whole album. Some serious clunkers on here surrounded by generic pop. Meh. I'll give it 2 stars because I was able to listen to all of it, but that's all it'll get

This sounds like the mid-90s.

not my kinda music

I have never gotten into Sheryl Crow, I think she has somewhat of a thin reedy voice and the songs range from okay to monotonous and forgettable. Plus one for the overall musicianship and production

My mum had this album and if you’d asked me before i listened to this i would’ve told you this would be at least a 3.5/5. My memory has obviously been clouded by the big hits or i should say hit, as again i was surprised to find ‘if it makes you happy’ was later than this album. Its not rubbish but it’s hardly great and suffers as my mind groups this and Jagged little pill together in my mind and my appreciation of that has grown with age. All I wanna do is an undeniably catchy tune and is unsurprisingly the highlight. This makes the decision to follow this with the dirge of ‘We do what we can’ and it’s “draft dodging brothers” even more ludicrous.

Mediocre.

There are a couple interesting left turns on this, but the majority of it is a kind of country-pop-rock thing that sounds very similar to other artists with this sound. Her voice fits the songs well - it's authentic and not over-polished. The lyrics are a mixed bag; I like the chorus on "Strong Enough" and the specificity of songs like "All I Wanna Do," but "The Na-Na Song" and it's we-didn't-start-the-fire-ness is a bit grating. The melodies are nice, but rarely better than nice, which is the biggest problem. My favorite songs are the ones that are more daring, even if they don't always work. "Solidify'" is my favorite with its funky groove. "We Can Do What We Can" doesn't work as well, but I still appreciate the jazzy night club vibe it's going for. Replace some of the slower ballads like "No One Said it Would Be Easy" with more adventurous songs and this would be a better listen.

Nice voice, mostly insipid slow pop music. 4/10

bland 90s music that feels like it plays in the background of a clothing store.

achei meio sem sal...mas esse álbum fez a moça ganhar 3 grammys...

There’s all those songs from Sheryl crow. Pretty catchy

starting with RUN BABY RUN, boring...vanilla ballad that lacks any of cheryls vocal grit and country swagger is such a strange choice. that song sucks LEAVING LAS VEGAS is immediately what I expect from a Cheryl song...and its much better. CANT CRY ANYMORE is really nice. I like the groovy little guitar lick....its the case of, wow thats nice...its a surprise, but why not more? too neutered and pruned for commercial consumption. either way, i dig it, and i wish it was put out front more. SOLIDIFY is a ....prince song? What the heck. why im cool with not hearing THE NA NA SONG again. album is a bit all over....you can tell they are trying to things and try to sort it out. its no wonder why the successful singles established her sound, and songs like this were never to be heard again. ALL I WANNA DO IS HAVE SOME FUN is the only song i wanna listen to on this album and i have a feeling im not the only one... cos its not cheryl doing her best fionna impression on WE DO WHAT WE CAN or the last song YUCK 2 shredded bottles of bud on the bar out of 5.

deducted one star just because one of the popular reviews on this website referred to her as the “female tom petty”

Not my cup of tea but an interesting listen

Some of these were very silly. Some funky. Lol. That one good song tho

It interesting to relisten to some of these dated albums and think "now I know why one or two of these songs were hits and the others I've never heard".

I've heard this album more times than I cared to. Back in the record store days, a couple of my co-workers were really into it. I thought it was just boring then, so wasn't looking forward to hearing it again. I was a little surprised a couple of the lesser known tracks ("Run, Baby, Run" and "Solidify") I liked more now than I did then. That's about it, though. The rest of the album still sounds like generic snooze rock.

Maybe this didn't sound great because it wasn't Tuesday.

Basic country, pop, singer songwriter fusion. Will never come back to it, boring. 3/10

Sure, why not? I can't argue against the quality and popularity of this milktoast album from the 90s; it's pretty harmless and slightly catchy. But I can argue its place on this list.

I once worked with someone who harbored a passionate distaste for Sheryl Crow (shout out Cameron; I hope you’re well), and I think I get it now.

....nahhhhh. I wanted to give this a fair shot since I have a soft spot for 90s alternative pop, but this is really a huge nothing-burger of an album. Unfortunately this is inoffensive background music, which I doubt is something Crow was going for. "All I wanna Do" is an absolute banger though. Love that track.

I have never really liked this album.

Forgettable

As dull as I was expecting.

Her voice is ok, but the music is bad, very bad!

Except for the famous single, i thought this was a nothingburger of an album

Her voice is kinda whiney to me. It's ok.

wow, this got me into a deep dive of the controversey surrounding the album and the credits, which made me sideeye Sheryl Crow a bit. favorite track is "Strong Enough" but even that is a bit mid

This album was all over the place. I respect her as an artist for trying so many different sounds, but this has some of the defining obnoxious characteristics of 90s pop. The na-na song is just annoying and some of the songs are too repetitive (oh is she leaving las vegas?, fading out to "for you for you" for 30 seconds). But there are some songs where her voice sounds really strong (can't cry anymore i think?).

Listening Notes: -Run Baby Run has a fun chorus, but the verse seem bad somehow. -In general, this just feels very generic -Ooh a Talking Heads reference on All I Wanna Do! That's fun! Generic country-inflected rock. Very little exciting going on here. The little Sheryl Crow that I know hat a bit more of a punky edge. But this is totally sterile. I'll say this is better than a lot of the twos I've given (and certainly a few threes), but if this is a three-star album I'm inflating my ratings too much. It's just boring! So it's a 2 from me.

Not a Sheryl Crow fan. I tried.

I like Crow’s voice. But the music itself is a touch too generic for me. Outside of the super famous song included on this album I mostly endured listening. 2.5/5

Pretty boring. Did enjoy All I Wanna Do, which is a bit more Fun.

Not as good as I hoped it would be. I bought this when it came out and was disappointed. Maybe I should listen again now that I’m not a youngster anymore…

A longish car ride gave me ample opportunity to contemplate my dislike of Sheryl Crow. For all its commercial monstrousness, the album is slick and dull, like all mainstream 90s music, but the really irritating thing to me is the opportunistic way a middling bluesy-pop band was packaged to highlight the frontwoman to get in on a Women in Rock trend, when there were plenty of other women (Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams, et al) making much more interesting music. Run Baby Run is an ok song, and nothing about it is terribly offensive, so I guess it gets a 2.

2.75. Maybe a 3.

this is drastically boring compared to her self titled album, i almost can't believe it

sadder than i expected! fine tho

You used to hear a song on the radio, go to the store, and occasionally spend your hard earned 12.99-19.99 on a CD... and sometimes you did all that just to get home and realize the single is totally unlike everything else on the album so now you blew twenty dollars. All I Wanna Do is the only fun song on this album.

It's fun and catchy and fluffy country music. It's not my thing, but it's enjoyable enough. I did quite enjoy We Do What We Can. 2/5 stars.

Irritating and generic. If you like this, I'm sure there is a reason. I just haven't found one yet.

Uninteresting soulless pop music. I really have nothing to say, it was that boring and forgettable.

It's not a bad album. Has some rough edges and I enjoy her later stuff more but I enjoyed this more than I expected to. She's got some great lyrics but the songs are kind of going through the paces, just plodding along. Her next album is better.

Tuesday Night Music Club has a couple of radio-friendly highlights (All I Wanna Do being the obvious one), but as a full album it feels a bit like flipping through someone else’s scrapbook—pleasant enough, but not especially gripping. The laid-back, rootsy sound aims for charm and relatability, but often lands in safe, mid-tempo territory that blends together without much impact. Crow’s voice has an easygoing appeal, and the production is polished, but the songs rarely dig deep or do anything particularly memorable. It’s not a bad listen, just a very forgettable one. A few nice moments, but not enough to make you come back for seconds.

Sometimes I feel like I just can't enjoy regular pop music, and that's really an issue here. The music is not bad, but that's all I can say of this album, because I genuinely don't remember any significant moment where I say "oh, this is good". No uniqueness...is it country rock? I think it's 2.5, but since the site doesn't allow 2.5, I don't know whether it should be a 2 or a 3.

Ovaj je album definicija riječi "meh". Prva pjesma je najmanje loša.

My girlfriend gave it made me turn it off because it was giving her a headache.

Only heard the big single from before. For the first couple of songs I actually quite enjoyed it. But as it went on I became bored of it and wanted it to end 2/5

Dull and uninspiring.

No, Sheryl.

I listened to this a long time ago and forgot to rate it. It's okay, but nothing stands out to me. I don't think I'll be back for another listen; twice was enough.

Aika tylsä ysäripoppislevy. Kaipaisin enemmän särmää. 2/5

i’m sorry sheryl.. it’s like the chicks but boneless, like shania but without the blind support on a national basis, like nickelback if chad kroger was a female country musician

Although "Tuesday Night Music Club" is billed as Sheryl Crow's solo debut album, it is essentially a collaborative project of artists who created the music. The outcome is a decent, albeit somewhat inconsistent, album featuring several notable tracks. "All I Wanna Do," "Leaving Las Vegas," and "Strong Enough" are the best tracks, while the remainder of the album tends to be rather ordinary and easily forgettable. The most interesting part of the album, to me at least, is how this got on this list.

I can sing along to the big hits on this album but nonetheless I find it boring. Good for her for getting rid of her Muskmobile though.

ööö vaikka kaksi all i wanna do

I have some nostalgia for “All I wanna do,” and she’s a decent singer and songwriter, but I didn’t really care for this album. Also, what’s with the weird RHCP sounding song? Anyway, she’s a great lady Tom Petty. The first track was my favorite.

Disappointed in how........disappointing this album is. Few excellent tracks but they actually hinder the album by making everything around them sound even more boring in comparison

It’s a weird blend of pop, country, and rock that doesn’t totally work for me. It doesn’t help that Sheryl’s voice isn’t particularly pleasant. The layered vocals sound like nails on a chalkboard. On top of all that, the album really sputters out at the end. The last two songs are snoozers.

Dated pop rock

2.0 I really didn't like but I can't quite put my finger on as to why. It feels like music made for people who don't like actual music.

It has some good moments but it’s not my kind of music. But I made it through the complete record. That’s at least something.

All I wanna do is stop listening to this album!!

Nombre fidedigno. Aunque no es horrible oírlo, se me hace bastante cansado, y los 50 minutos que dura no ayudan. Canción destacada: All I Wanna Do

This didn’t connect with me at all. I think objectively it’s well produced, decent music and backing band, but the vocals and lyrics and just generally didn’t hit with me.

I don't really like the first two tracks, it sounds minor and muddy. Her voice sounds strained and the melodies are a bit repetitive. The production just sounds a bit wrong throughout... and her voice never quite sounds right either...I could convince myself that it works on some songs like Solidify, but there's still something that sounds off to me about this record. Some highlights, but 2.5

Apart from 'All I Wanna Do' it's a bit of a nothing album, easy to listen to but nothing outstanding sadly

Quite liked the first song but the rest I found boring, not my kind of thing

Less exciting than I remembered

Acceptable pop music with a country edge. Doesn't belong on this list, though

Some of this is pretty good. Some is absolutely terrible.

A bit plodding until All I Wanna Do

I can see why people like this but for me it's just kind of dull. Background music.

This album is by no means bad. But it is underwhelming. Now, I will be the first to admit that Sheryl Crow is iconic -- she's a big part of that 90s female singer-songwriter push that (in my mind) is so incredibly important. And this was her first album. But it was frankly just a bit lackluster. Not really a 3 for me, but more than a 2. I guess I'm letting my disappointment guide me on this one.

Run Baby Run Leaving Las Vegas Strong Enough All I Wanna Do

maybe they meant to say "1000.3 albums you should listen to before you die and .7 skippable filler the almighty black reaper wont mind if you miss"

Aggressively mid. Kinda sounds like Fiona Apple with all the edges sanded down. It's pleasant, bright, but there's no bite. Best Track: Run Baby Run Worst Track: The Na-na Song

Best Song: All I wanna do Worst song: The Na-Na Song

Decent album, but not fantastic. In retrospect it makes you wonder why practically half of the songs were released as singles. 2 or 3 good songs, but hey, they are not all that good. Perhaps the record company did not have other artists at the time….

I think Sheryl is boom or bust. Generally a big fan of the hits but there are some bad ones in here. Also, it occured to me "All I Wanna Do" is its very similar to Stuck In The Middle With You. Pro-Sheryl, but this one had too many weak songs.

Uhhhh this was not good. Why do people like Sheryl Crow? Not for me

Many songs are repetitive and I felt bored at times. A couple of the songs are ok however. I will consider this a high 2/5

It wasn’t greeeeeat, and The Na-Na Song got this a 2. This sounds like it’s time, and I like All I Wanna do (and her later hits), but this filler just did not do it for me.

Not my thing

Sheryl was kind of cooking on the self-titled and The Globe Sessions, but there's not much to this one. Never cared much for the singles, album tracks don't add much either. 2.5/5

Not a big fan of this 90s blues chill vibe that most of the album has, but she is a great singer

Not really my jam, but I enjoyed it more than I expected to.

Honestly, this was just a pretty bad album. For the most part it wasn't in-your-face please-turn-it-off painful, but it really wasn't good. At all. I went into this with an open mind, no specific expectations. And I did enjoy the first track and thought this album has promise. But it went downhill fast. Everything after the first track seemed uninspired, uninteresting, musically plain and strikingly unambitious. It wasn't outright horrendous (with the exception of The Na-Na Song being pure garbage). But without any redeeming qualities, I fail to understand why anyone bought this - let alone why it seems worth even talking about before I die.

To quote my favorite Mel Brooks movie : “Piss boy, bring the bucket!”.

To quote one of my favourite Mel Brooks movies…’Nice. Not thrilling. But Nice.’

It was ok, but I feel like this is the soundtrack to any supermarket, which is a shame. But the songs were ok, nothing really left me impressed.

Another one of those albums where I knew the hits form back then but never made the effort to listen to the rest. And again, in this instance, that seems to have been the correct strategy. The songs I didn't know are pleasant enough but a bit boring and not as good as the hits and the hits you hear on the radio enough to not have to bother with the album.

"This ain't no disco, It ain't country club either. This is LA". I couldn't care less. She is way too close to country club. And way too far from disco for my taste. Could've lived without listening to this one...

I dont think this aged well. Theres some really not good stuff here. There are some gems but not enough to land a 3. Close, but still in the 2s

Not my style, but I love the Cars song. Which is not on it.

It was lame.

pjesmuljci

One really great track make this a 3 instead of a 1

I love Sheryl but this just wasn’t a great collection of songs. As an aside “Neva Eva” by Trillville coming on directly afterwards was comically jarring.

Maybe I just heard way too much Sheryl Crow in the 90's but there was nothing remarkable about this album

Sheryl ain't my jam. 2.5 stars

One of my favourite musical arguements is that U2 had the career that Echo and the Bunnymen should have had. So here then, Sheryl Crow has had the career and sales Aimee Mann should have had. Other than that I can't find much to say about this.

not me, too much soul

This album actually feels as exciting as a Tuesday night could be. Which doesn’t mean a total snooze fest but, it’s also Tuesday night.

местами очень тяжело слушать, женщина которая орёт. про этом музыкально приятная и некоторые песни интересные

Wow, what a voice for such mid music.

I've never listened to this record before, and I probably won't again. I don't really get its appeal. To me, it sounds like an album from a third-rate local band that won studio time with a talented producer. And Sheryl Crow can't sing! I don't understand how people could listen to "Leaving Las Vegas," with its tortured vocals, over and over again on 90s radio. I'm old enough to remember it. Most people can't sing, and that's ok. I'm a huge fan of early Smashing Pumpkins, for example, and Billy Corgan famously can't sing very well. But he uses his voice in a fitting way. Sheryl Crow can't sing but tries to sing like someone who can. I will grant that some of the harmonies are pretty good. I love the brief "lie to me" moment on "Strong Enough," and the harmony on the chorus of "No One Said It Would Be Easy" is nice too. And, ok, the last two songs "We Do What We Can" and "I Shall Believe" are pretty. I still don't like the lyrics, and Crow's vocals are deceptively good except for the parts where they definitely aren't. This record isn't so much a bad record as one that is solidly not good. The music isn't awful (other than the singing). And it sucks too. The album actually sounds like the people who made it worked really hard. The writing and singing seem earnest. I just don't think it's very good. There is some solid studio work from the musicians, but it's all an exercise in super safe paint by numbers. This album is so boring and stale that I can't even hate it properly. A quick Google search reveals that the album has sold more than seven million copies, so, clearly, Tuesday Night Music Club had some sort of mass appeal. It won three Grammys including Best Album and (gasp and shock!) Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. I just don't get it. Two stars.

Not bad for a pop record, but I didn’t care for it

I just found this quite dull. I mean, her voice is fine but the whole thing is just quite beige. Not much more to say. So I suppose that says it all!

'All I Wanna Do' was such a massive catchy hit that it became annoying! The album was huge too. It's not bad, easy listening. 'Strong Enough' is probably my favourite track. 'Solidify' is quite funky. Overall it's a bit too Americana for me.

Could tell exactly what this was going to sound like just from the album cover.

All I Wanna Do gets two stars alone for being a catchy as hell song. Sheryl is a good singer and the music is produced all fine but nothing really stands out to me overall about this rock/country/pop blend. Run Baby Run is okay I guess? Strong Enough and No One Said it Would Be Easy are fine? There is nothing offensive about this album but that's also it's biggest fault.

Outside of the radio hits, could do without

That was disappointing. She never gets out of 2nd gear except for We Do What We Can. I get the feeling that too much weed was smoked.

Sort of boring for me, not really a fan of the sound, nor am I particularly enthralled by her voice. Just feels sort of average.

there's moments that aren't boring

I actually really dislike her voice, she sounds like she is straining. Strong enough is solid though.

Not too surprised, this was not for me. Can get a 2 stars Will I listen to again: 0%

Songs are way too long, and way too monotonous. The music is basic, and while her voice may be interesting, and the one hit is good, it’s not enough to carry the rest.

mish mash splish splash

It wasn't grating, but I didn't find anything particularly special about the album.

The queen of the 90s is stuck in its time.

Bonus points because the first song got me singing along already. Other than that it's pretty fun but just not my style

Sheryl Crow isn't really my thing, but I can understand what people see in it. Just not for me

Not really my thing, but definitely just feels like the core of early-mid 90's pop music. 2.5/5

Not my cup of tea but it's not awful

Kinda bland, didn't really connect with this one (except that "All I wanna do" is really a banger that I had totally forgotten)

Good singer

This is very hollow feeling. It's like an expression of emotion that's so muted that people can zone out and feel like they relate to it. I have no idea what I'm meant to find in this.

Started off kind of flat, got a little better. At the end of the day I feel like there is a band playing at a bar in every city on any night that can bring the same quality of music. A bit all over the place at times.

its really not my type of thing tbh

Again, not my style but well made

Not a fan. Really does nothing for me. Other than 'all I wanna do'

She doesn’t have a great voice. Her songs don’t speak to me. She’s very beautiful.

Every week, a new white woman country singer gets transported into our dimension through a time rift, along with the innate fact of having sold like seven billion records. Who the fuck is Sheryl Crow. Ain't that the main guy from Gladiator. Boring music. Who cares.

I dunno, it's never very good when I start this way. Another pop music machine. Depth-less lyrics, pretty voice and face, there's some purpose behind music like this being made, distraction from finding God, maybe. Ugh, 2 stars.
