Reviews (page 4 of 7)

12/17/25: sort of just feeling like bland 90s upbeat pop rock. I don't hate it but I don't know that I would choose to listen to it either. 5/10.

Good voice, but not very interesting

I still love All I Wanna Do, but I'm pretty over the rest of the album, it no longer lures me the same way it once did.

Classic Sheryl. Not really my kind of music. I do like We Do What We Can. 3

Riktigt fet. På det stora hela - okej pop.

Riktigt bra frisörmusik!

I was expecting a bit more from this album having only heard All I Wanna Do previously. Unfortunately I was left a little disappointed, I was hoping for a 90’s Joni Mitchell but what I got was a bit bland really.

just wasn’t for me i fear

144 Piola, para ser country me gustó harto. All I wanna do, is have some fun~

Tää levy löytyy omasta hyllystä. Tuli kuunneltua tätä 90-luvun puolessa välissä, mutta sen jälkeen ei oo pyörinyt soittimessa...

country feeling pure

i guess it was okay

good voice good sound, just not my jam

Some good songs I had never heard before but some filler or styles of song that grated. Good variation for solo artist.

Man the 90's were a wild time for music. Honestly, for my money, the best decade in music. That's not necessarily in relation to this album, its merely fine for me, but this album does exemplify a lot of why the 90s were so great. 90's were a time where pretty much anything could get radio play (in no other decade would Beck's Loser or The Butthole Surfer's Pepper ever be allowed to get airplay) and a lot of it was fantastic. This album is very 90's in sound while also kinda vibing with that "anything goes" mindset. Damn thing even has a jazz cut in We Do What We Can. Effortlessly smooth as well. But yeah, it's generally just fine for me. All I Wanna Do is a fantastic song. We Do What We Can is great too. But the rest don't do much for me.

It was fine. Nothing life changing. I'm never gonna seek it out on my own, but I wouldn't demand that somebody play something else if it came on. Adequate music to clean the garage to

3 only because of how good All I Wanna Do and String Enough are.

The singles from this album sell Sheryl as a country-adjacent singer songwriter, which is broadly accurate, but doesn't tell the whole story. Sure, there’s plenty of twang here, but it's all from the guitars and not the vocals. Where Shania Twain's story will be "Country goes Pop", this album makes Sheryl's feel kinda like "Pop goes Country". I'm sure I'm missing plenty of context for the state of pop radio in 1993, but this sounds like it might be an important milestone for country/rock crossovers. Would Shania’s crossover been as successful without this? What about Faith Hill or Taylor Swift? I won’t commit to giving Sheryl too much credit, but it feels kinda true. Half of this album ended up as singles, so you've probably heard a good portion of this record already. Those singles are enough to keep you busy, but if you're interested in going deeper, I have two recs: "Solidify" - this is pretty funky and I love the organ. It totally doesn't fit the rest of the album, but that's what makes it so fun. "The Na-Na Song" - also a departure from the rest of the album. It borrows from Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start The Fire" in the same way that Beck's "Loser" (also 1993!) does. Loser is probably the better song, but I enjoyed this too. The singles (in release order): "Run Baby Run" - this didn't hit in 1993, but feels like a Sheryl Classic now. "What I Can Do for You" - you probably don't know this song because it was released before Sheryl started to break through, but it should have been a bigger hit. "Leaving Las Vegas" "All I Wanna Do" "Strong Enough" "Can't Cry Anymore" - It's clear that they were courting country radio with this one. But, hot take: if they held "What I Can Do For You" until after Sheryl started breaking through, it could have been released here and this song wouldn't have been a single.

This album gave me a lot of nostalgia. A very high 3 but just a few too many songs I wasn't too big a fan of.

Decent album with decent variety, some hits, some misses. Don't need to say anything about absolute MegaHit All I Wanna Do, but I am pleased that the whole album doesn't sound like it. That said, some of hte misses - eh. She's a good singer so why is she putting out songs where her voice is straining a little? She has so much other stuff to go on. Additionally, to my taste, some of these songs are just filler. The Na-Na song was the first time I checked what I was listening to because it took me out of the rest of it. Leaving Las Vegas, too - kind of an also ran. But hey, decent album means they're not all bangers. Good example (blueprint?) of that 90s girl rock lilith-ish sound.

Easy sound overall. I can listen to All I want to do like once a month and any more it just bugs me.

She's talented but not a fan

6 singles! Holy moly. Shot Shezza

This is an 'almost' album. It almost escapes being background music, it is almost enjoyable enough for me to want to re-visit, it is almost worth 3/5. One of the 1001 best albums... nah.

Not a fan but there were Beatles references so 3 stars

This was pretty fun, but did not wow me

I liked the songs more that veered into full on rock territory (e.g.: The Na-Na song) than the ones that were pop rock. Still, I have to give props to the songwriting and all the vivid details in there, but other than that it's not a musically interesting album.

Like the stripped down production, but doesn't really do anything to me.

This was my first full album experience with Ms. Crow, and for as many years as I've know of her and her hits, I'm very surprised by how much I did not care for this album. I like her voice, and the music is generally a skillful, interesting, bluesey-pop blend, but something about this doesn't pull together for me—the pacing, the lyrics, the general feel, something... 2.5 is the best I can do, so it rounds up to a three.

Middle section suuuuucks but there are some all-timers here. Why is All I Wanna Do not the first track??? 3.5

05/11/2025 It wasn't too bad of an album. Spotify listeners: 7.2 million

A 90s time capsule, in a good and bad way. Didn't evoke any strong feelings in me and a feel very little connection to the country/rock crossover...All I Wanna Do is a great bop nonetheless.

Her lilting, sliding vocals grated on me a bit, and I only enjoyed them in a couple songs. She has a unique sound, but I only really enjoyed it in a couple songs, particularly "Leaving Las Vegas."

All kinds of songs, fun one and well-produced. I don't think she is a very good singer, but good overall.

Honestly enjoyed this album a lot. It’s fun, poppy, and easy to jam along to. Decent listen in my book, and would gladly welcome another album from her

I think I came into this album with my expectations set a little too high. I was expecting a little more with such a well known artist (at least to me). "All I Wanna Do" is a classic, and there were a few others that I did enjoy. Overall I liked it, but her voice isn't as good as I was expecting and the lyrics did nothing for me.

Enjoyable - almost a 4.

Middle of the road. Ok

3/5, not my type of music but can appreciate really good vocals and guitar

5.5/10 Decent, but not particularly inspiring Highlights: What I Can Do for You Leaving Las Vegas Solidify

3.3 2x decent enough but i remember this being so over played in the 90s

3.5 Struggled with the rating, felt maybe a four but other than the radio hits I've heard hundreds of times I didn't like much else on this album. I think I decided Strong Enough is my favorite song on the album (which is odd as I didn't love it on radio play.) Finally settle on my rating system that this is a very good album but not one I would necessarily want to invest time listening to again, though I wouldn't at all if someone else had it on in the background. May still come back and upgrade to a 4

Huge on release, pales over time.

Surprisingly good. I'd always assumed all of Sheryl Crow's work was more country-leaning I guess. Quite a few good pop/moody tracks.

Är det tillräckligt bra för en fyra. På gränsen igen. Det är rätt bra bitvis men inte på ett wow-sätt. Det är nog i slutändan habilt. Känner inget behov av att lyssna mer. Vilket för mig blir strax under fyran!

This album hit gen x women like an atomic bomb

I was expecting a commercial, middle of the road, album, but found something a little grittier - more Lucinda Williams vibe. So a pleasant surprise, which I quite enjoyed - Leaving Las Vegas probably my favourite track

I liked this more than I expected to

is it country or is it dance music? we may never know. Her voice is slightly punchy in a bad way. the songs have redeeming qualities. pleasant listen!

Why do I feel like I've heard every song on this album? I've never listened to Sheryl Crow in my life. Is she just that prevalent that I recognize her voice immediately?

It’s whatever.

some great music, but the album itself doesn’t feel coherent

Knowing the two massive radio hits primed me with low expectations. But then, suddenly, I didn’t mind it much at all!

Better than Alanis

It's fine. Really. Fine

Not bad, not great.

Pretty good, has some hits you know. But a pretty easy listen.

6/10 - some good 90s country pop

I’ll I wonna do is the only recognizable song for me. And the only thing saving the rating from being a 2

Enjoyable album, the singles hit hard. The rest of the songs, not that much.

Not bad! 3/5

I like "Run Baby Run", but hate "The No-No Song", the rest is ok. 3.5 stars

*Tuesday Night Music Club* was one of those ubiquitous 90s pop/rock albums, in the same vein as Alanis Morrisette's *Jagged Little Pill *or Hootie and the Blowfish's *Cracked Rear View*. Even if you didn't own it, you probably heard the whole thing due to the record companies milking everything they could from the album. I think this starts off really good -- "Run Baby Run", "Leaving Las Vegas", "Strong Enough", and "Can't Cry Anymore" is a solid run of tracks. From there, it gets a little dicey and there's much filler from there on out. "All I Wanna Do" is pretty fun, but not a song I need to hear again, and "I Shall Believe" is a decent closer, but the rest is pretty forgettable. I do think Sheryl improves with her next couple albums. Light 3.5.

I would prefer to put this on over the Black Crowes but only marginally. All I Wanna Do is a good track that I wouldn’t mind if it was on Co Op radio but everything else is a bit dated and cheesy. I would definitely request something else to be played at an actual Tuesday Night Music Club if I was going. Something like Ace Of Base or Barenaked Ladies.

3- Stars (7/15)

Favourite song - Leaving Las Vegas

Some simple, folksy pop music. 3.5/5

She only had 1 hit in my country, so I always thought of her as a one hit wonder. Turns out she has more than one good song. Good variety of influences. I read other reviews that said this album was formulaic. They either didn't listen to the entire album or don't know what they're talking about. The songs are quite different, but they sound like they belong together. That being said, I don't think I'll play this very often. Favorite song: all I wanna do

3 great songs and the rest are forgettable. Not bad for a debut album.

Never listened to a Sheryl much but I enjoyed this

Enjoyable easy listening country pop.

ну пойдет

Я не любитель американских фолк песен, но альбом все равно довольно приятный

Way better than I thought

Not awful but just sorta there…

Pretty decent. A couple of famous songs on it. Not exactly pop but on that spectrum. Probably between a three and a four for me.

I am overwhelmed by the nostalgic smell of a Case Logic CD binder. The first half is surprisingly nice, the second bland corporate pap leavened by The Hit. Better than it deserves to be.

I’ve never been a fan of Sheryl Crow so while I wasn’t expecting to particularly like this, it’s fine. I won’t listen to it again, but it was fine.

Firstly a small rant about deluxe editions: if your record label wants to make a deluxe edition to generously give the fans more music/fleece the fans for more money (delete based on your level of cynicism) that's great. But do not delete the original from streaming services and force me to have to check where I'm supposed to stop listening to properly assess an album for this project. It keeps on happening! Tut! For an album that spawned six singles, I genuinely would have only been able to name All I Wanna Do, such was its ubiquity in the early 90s charts. But listening to this, I remember a lot of it. I remember Run Baby Run which would probably make the record company happy as they released it 3 times in the UK in the hope of making it work - genuinely a bonkers choice for first single given some of the other songs on this record. For example, Leaving Las Vegas which is a much better option for first single. Reading about Leaving Las Vegas made me nostalgic for the era when singles a) got physical releases and b) got multiple versions in multiple formats, each of which would have different b-sides so you ended up collecting the lot. LLV had a 7", cassette and two different CDs in the UK! See people complain about record companies now but you only get 15 different vinyl colours for an album because they can no longer flog you four versions of the same single. This feels like damning with faint praise, but this was mostly a very pleasant album to listen to. I'm not sure how I feel about Solidify which is extremely early 90s (the instrumentation could easily have had Micheal Jackson singing over the top), and the second half generally doesn't feel as strong as the first half but I did enjoy it. All I Wanna Do remains the absolute stand out track though. 3/5

I didn't expect to like this but I did. Generally. I don't know if I would give it a 4, but 3.5 for sure.

# Playlist Track - All I Wanna Do # Notes - A few interesting tracks, but an intolerable amount of over-singing. Most of the listen feels a bit forced and over exerted. - Not coincidentally, my favourite track is of the light, careless, chill ones. - Not horrible, tho. OK pop, that could just take it a bit easier on the mics.

The hits are the only highlight here. 3/5

Some light country-tinged pop rock. The songs are not bad, but they are rather boring. I wanted a cool metal album to be my birthday album, but I got this grocery store pop album instead.

Her first record, thought it was pretty strong. A couple of the poppier moments aren’t great imo but decent songwriting throughout. the back half is also strong, held up by the single (all I wanna do) which is still great.

Country pop/rock/ crossover album from the mid 90s. Not really my cup of tea overall but it isn't a bad album, just a bit too generic for my taste - but it was a pleasant enough listen overall. The big hit of the album is quite fun. Rounded up to 3 stars.

Pretty good but not my cup o tea

the singles are very good. the rest is sunshiny, low stakes, kinda bops along. it's well produced. "no one said it would be easy" is good. the jazzy song is bad. bonnie raitt lite. lucinda without the miles on the wheels or the gravel in the voice. if this was playing while i was in a bar on santa monica boulevard some summer tuesday afternoon, i'd be cool with it.

The nanana song is surprisingly fun. This album has some great highlights but overall it took me a couple tries to complete. She has her audience and I’m just a visitor.

ON A SATURDAY NIGHT

All I wanna do - is have some fun - I got a feeling - I'm not the only one

One hit song on this album. I thought there'd be more.

The back story to this is so interesting. Enjoys a meteoric rise to fame, despite her conviction for racially aggravated assault of a toilet attendant in a Guildford nightclub She marries a gifted sports star amid tabloid insinuations that the relationship is a sham to hide her partner's closeted homosexuality. After the demise of that ill-fated relationship she appears to briefly find happiness with a man 10 years her junior and who she had once mentored on a TV talent show but he later dies in a tragic accident falling from a hotel balcony while on tour in South America, leaving her to raise their son. Oops, sorry wrong Sheryl/Cheryl. Anyway all that aside, the story of how the original Sheryl kind of screwed over the co-writers of many of these tunes is kind of wild too.

Had this on CD back in 94. Haven’t listened to it since then and had forgotten about a few good tracks. Hadn’t aged too badly. Run baby run, strong enough, can’t cry anymore.

Not my thing, very much of a time

I thought it was quite alright. Nothing too special however. Good slow jams but mostly a standard 90’s, singer-songwriter record. I do think that there’s a good influence of Sheryl’s vocals in today’s music. Namely, the subdued style she took. However, I wouldn’t say I remember too much from the experience. Best thing I can say is that it’s inoffensive.

Some real classics on here, but other than those, the rest of it was just okay to me. My husband loved it, though.

A quintessentially sounding 90's female singer-songwriter, pop/rock album. Sheryl Crow has her fair share of hits, those of which I do enjoy greatly, but this record was somewhat formulaic outside of the singles. It's a fine debut, all things considered, it doesn't suffer from overproduction and is pretty stripped back for the most part. "All I Wanna Do" may stand on its own as a single, but "Run Baby Run" and "Strong Enough" were other highlights.

Have some fun

the history of an album should not impact the music on an album, but in this case I cannot. The fact that she named the album "Tuesday Night Music Club", who is the band that brought her in and wrote the music and songs with her, who she then turned her back on and didn't even use as the musicians when she recorded the album is enough to sour my appreciation of this album. Onto the review of the actual album. its pretty generic pop country, with cheesy lyrics "are you strong enough to be my man, are you man enough to be my man" i mean come on! all that said, its not terrible, but nothing that made me go "wow, this is amazing" i cannot understand why this has so many record sales. I guess people need this sort of thing in their lives. No one said it would be easy is the standout song mostly because it is the most aligned to traditional country. The album was okay. standard 3 stars

408/1001 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑

Some nice stuff but too many misses

I didn’t know Sheryl was a woke queen but the presentation didn’t do much for me.

If this whole album was like Strong Enough, it would be a straight 5 stars for me. However, there are too many Na-Na Songs that fill the gaps between songs like Leaving Las Vegas and All I Wanna Do. I enjoyed my time with this album, I like Sheryl Crow, and I LOVE Strong Enough. For me though, this album isn't more than 3 stars and I question its placement on an essentials list

A good fun album from a legend of music. I see some of the special traits in this album, but it's hard to be excited about every song in the debut.

This is a very "fine" album. Nothing impressed me overmuch, but it was enjoyable. Favorite track: "The Na-Na Song," since it stood out as interesting compared to the rest of the album.

if i was born like 5 years earlier i bet i would have been obsessed with this

Ibi wibould

She’s definitely very distinctive in her lyrical delivery, which in places really reminded my of minor 90s psyche pop act Jellyfish (bonus points for remembering them). Anyway, it’s hard to deny the big hit is a great song, I also really liked the Na-Na song. The remainder though is perfectly listenable but a bit bland. Feeling generous today, so 3* it is.

A 90's singer-songwriter album with a rootsy edge. I like this. It's fun, it has good songwriting and performances. It's like listening to a very nice local band at a cozy bar (on a Tuesday night, I guess). Key tracks: Run, Baby, Run Strong Enough All I Wanna Do

yeah this is great actually

A whole lot of nothing. Why is she so famous? It was fine, I guess, nothing offensively bad, but I don’t hear anything that would suggest it’s genre-defining, or worthy of inclusion on any Best Of list. All I Wanna Do is pretty catchy, but is one catchy pop song enough to warrant a spot on this list? I submit that it’s not.

Первая половина, да и альбом в целом, были сильно лучше того, что можно ожидать от поп-рока из девяностых с такой вот обложкой. Лучшая песня - Leaving Las Vegas.

nice enough

It was good, but a bit boring.

kind of mystified that this sheryl album is on this list. not my favorite of hers musically, lyrically, or thematically but i will always have a soft spot for her voice. toooooo many ballads, though

Not as bad as I feared. The first and third track are actually quite well written pop songs with good choruses. I also liked the smooth, jazzy We Do What We Can. I’ve always hated All I Wanna Do, though. And The Na-Na Song was even worse. Horrible song! All in all a 5/10

I don't think it's Sheryl Crow's fault that when listening to this album for this project I had to hear the song "All I Wanna Do" twice: once in my car on the way to the grocery store and once over the loudspeaker in the grocery store while I was shopping. But I do think it is her fault that she made a song so inoffensive that grocery stores play it.

Pretty. Nice. Not mindblowing or anything.

All I Wanna Do seems pretty bland to me, and surprising to see it's her most popular song when I don't think it's even her best song on this album. A testament to the need to listen for yourself.

Some pleasant songs

Great suggestion from 1001 Albums Generator! I should have listened most of the songs of this album in a separated way never paying attention to the album itself. And it is a really good one, fresh, vivid, eclectic, plenty of nice songs opening the 90's.

I don’t have the exact description beyond 90s sound but I always love hearing. This was good overall.

My aunt passed away several years ago but tonight I was driving in a car with her. The car had no headlights so it was very dark outside. She was trying to find a spot to smoke a joint. I don't smoke so I was a bit annoyed with a little anxiety and a lot of fear of dying in this see of blackness. She pulls into a state park parking lot and there are a whole lot of police and they, no matter how hard she pretended her car had no lights, stopped her. They could smell the smoke and pulled her out. I guess I was trying to hide in the back seat I was both afraid and annoyed. They questioned me and let me go but I had to walk home. I noticed that there were mall doors in the woods and lots of people coming in and out so I figured it was a safe way to get to my sister's house. I go in and it's a vast cave that's part forest part building. I'm immediately lost. I find one door and it's full kids in their late teens to late twenties. They're dressed like all types of people that were in their 20s during the late 2000s to 2010s. Hipsters, people that looked like, I'm not sure what one would call them but their style was heavily influenced by the way kids looked at grateful dead shows in the early mid 90s but they weren't. I would go through another door and it was a cave of more of them and some try to engage but I walk past, I just want to get home. I open several doors like that until I get to a hospital lobby. There's a few actual nurses and attendees standing around. I can still see from the walls it's still a cave. This time there is an exit but it's the wrong one so I go through another door and it's part cave part forest part food court but everyone looks like the people from the other area. Some I knew, I think. You know one of those part people you know that are also people you've never seen. I go through another door and it's a triage with people in sleeping bags. Another door and it's full of nurses dressed like they do in older movies. All white with hats. One looked familiar and I leaned in to getva closer look and it is my ex-wife. I see that she sees me but I try to walk by as though I don't see her. She starts to walk alongside me and says "Don't say anything to me here" and I tell her I wasn't and go through another door that's still not the way out. More doors that lead to part cave part forest part general buildings. Finally I go through one and it's a mall. I walk through the sea of people and they get fewer and fewer as I go when I spot 3 people I knew. Aaron, David and Christian. Friends of mine from the 90s. They were the only people that looked grown up. At first I was hesitant to walk up. They were with this pretty girl I'd never seen before but that kinda gells with them. David had this annoyed look on his face though I think it's the face he makes when he's nervous. Aaron was invested in the girl but they were definitely enjoying being together. I walked up to them and told them I couldn't find a way out. They said they were going to eat and I could come. I somehow knew I had $61 so I said sure. Christian looked really happy and asked me how the Dictator was going. I thought he was talking about the Charlie Chaplin movie but then he chimes in " the dictator, your book? How's it going?" I was never writing a book called the dictator and Christian was always getting these things wrong but he always seemed genuinely interested in my writing. I told him I don't write anymore. I was still hesitant to go with them because I would be this fourth guy with this girl but I was just wanting to get out of this cave forest building, I had zero interest in the girl. We get into a car, part Toyota part Limo and I had this feeling we were going to Subway. They were all laughing then stopped laughing very quickly. Aaron was older and he had a combover. David looked exactly the same and Christian not much different but still aged. Greasy shoulder length hair combed back. I was happy to see them and didn't feel out of place. Everything moved in slow motion. Sometimes there faces were close to mine sometimes I could see them from the distance. The vibe was that I was welcomed and out of the cave.

Better than I expected

Meh. Average white girl 90s music. Pretty boring. I have always liked Strong Enough though.

J’ai trouvé que plusieurs pièces s’étiraient et se répétaient, aurait bénéficié de versions resserrées

This just pretty basic white lady rock lol it was ok just not my type of music

A bit too slick and shiny to really excite me. Her second album is much better.

So I was a bit underwhelmed. Not sure if my expectations were too high or the album was not that great. Either way I’m giving it a 3.

This was a truly forgettable album. 2.5 stars

I'm glad this album was less like "All I Want to Do" and more like "Strong Enough To Be My Man." I don't love her voice but the music is nice.

Pretty generic singing for the most part. I felt like it was an early 2000s album instead of early 90s so I guess she was ahead of her time? I enjoyed a few of the backing instruments on a handful of songs. Not quite my type of music but it’s fine for what it is. 6/10

Has the iconic Strong Enough and All I Wanna Do. Overall very mellow. A few songs where her voice was really grating.

I’m torn, there are a lot of fantastic tracks sans vocals but I just can’t get into her voice for the most of it, the yeller ones. It has a stronger back end

Pop album which doesn't hurt anyone. Classical 5/10.

A woman! Might this be the first and only woman on this testosterone driven play-list? Nice background music. "All I want to do" is a total bop.

Some decent songs and some filler. She has a generally nice voice.

Some bangers, some sleepers. 3/5

I thought Sheryl Crow was a country singer.

Released during the 1990s when there were so many amazing female singer-songwriters, Crow always felt on the weaker side to me. Revisiting this album 30 years later (uh, where does time go?), I still feel the same. Her voice is average, even kind of bad at times, and the songs are fairly forgettable. I will take Tori Amos or Paula Cole any day (or The Chicks if we are leaning country). Overall, an average albeit forgettable album.

She is not a bad songwriter but she is not a great one either. My brother recently compared her to Huey Lewis and that seems apt, he music on this album seems ready made for generic heartfelt moments on tv dramas

Solid!

5/5/25. Very solid pop rock here. When the production is done right, the songs can really shine, and Sheryl Crow does that here. Really enjoyed the second half of the album.

3 sterne

Was excited after the opener, but it fell off quick for me.

Some good songs

This is a bit of a mixed bag. Some absolute crackers but also a few weaker efforts. I feel like Sheryl doesn’t have a strong identity as a performer. Some of her numbers came on in the playlist after the album and they were surprisingly good. A greatest hits package is the way to go with her. The 5 star rating system strikes again - 3.5 rounding down because it definitely isn’t worth a 4

The three country ballads ("Strong Enough", "No One Said it Would Be Easy", "I Shall Believe") are downright terrible. They offer exactly nothing interesting at all, and consist entirely of interminable whining and boring country music. However, the rest of the album shows a lot of variety and is actually pretty good. 2.5/5.0: Mixed

i've always thought of sheryl as pop country so i was surprised to hear some of these songs that leaned more pop rock. theres a few good really good tracks, a few really bad ones, and the rest fall somewhere in between.

Started off strong, had a couple of iffy songs in the middle, All I Wanna Do brought it back and then it had a disappointing ending (which is pretty common). If the middle or ending hadn't tapered off I would've called this 4*, but it's a high 3.

A two star album with a 4 star song. Mostly forgettable without "all I want to do"

closer to 4 probably could i write poetry to this? n

Music for people who found Counting Crows to be too "edgy" and Wallflowers to be "not edgy enough."

Never mad about hearing a Sheryl Crow song, but also never seek one out.

My mom owned this album growing up. A lot of good songs and some of her best hits. Sheryl Crow definitely captured the vibes of the early 90s well. Overall- good album

ganz nett, kann man sich immer mal wieder anhören

I was once sat in the pub with my friends and we were talking about our “type” in women. I stated I didn’t really have a type but then all of my friends pointed out that my last 3 girlfriends all looked exactly like Sheryl Crow! Anyway, music is ok her voice is great but overall a bit bland

Pretty good, but not a 4

> the Beatles

This was an enjoyable revisit. Overall the album is fun, Sheryl shows off that she can cover several genres relatively well. However, nothing in its entire 50 minutes runtime launches it out into the stratosphere as anything more than just "pretty good." In fact, if I'm being nitpicky, a couple of tracks felt shoved into the album that sorta killed the vibe, including "The Na Na Song." Solid 3.5/5.

The opening track was the highlight for me, but I think this stays at a 3 for me. Decent to listen to but nothing amazing.

I thought there would be better songs on here. There's the All I want to do song but other than that it's meh. 3 stars.

Better album than I was expecting. Doesn't need to be on this list by any means but it's totally fine.

it's not even tuesday :/

I’ve listened to this album before and didn’t like it except for one or two songs. But I actually really enjoyed it over all this time. It’s interesting how my tastes and music sensibilities change over the years. I would give it a 3.5.

Enjoyed the general vibe, but no outstanding tracks

Started off thinking I was going to quite like it, then it just became okay.

I have a soft spot for Sheryl Crow's music, but when I put my biases aside, I can't give this middling album more than a middling score

Not her best, not her worst.

decent album with some fun moments. it's pretty laid back, as you might expect from a sheryl crow album. the best song, by far here is "all i wanna do" which isn't surprising. there are some fun moments otherwise, but it doesn't get very remarkable.

There's some good stuff on this album - nothing revolutionary of course but there's enough style and personality to make it recognisably Shezza (does anyone call her Shezza?). I definitely prefer the breezy, upbeat country-rockers to the ballads or more cinematic numbers, though.

Before this, I’d only heard Sheryl Crow’s biggest hits—never a full album—so I was curious to give Tuesday Night Music Club a proper listen on a quiet Sunday evening. I’ve always enjoyed her greatest hits; they’re catchy, easygoing, and fun, even though pop/country isn’t usually my go-to genre. That said, a few tracks on this album really stood out. “Leaving Las Vegas” shines with its storytelling and energy, and “Can’t Cry Anymore” delivers an upbeat, infectious vibe that’s hard not to enjoy. On the flip side, a few songs didn’t quite land. “Strong Enough” and “Solidify” felt flat and lacked the spark to keep my attention. Overall, the album leans into a middle-of-the-road country-rock sound—solid and well-produced, but nothing particularly groundbreaking or adventurous but a good fun album with some good songs. That being said, Crow’s voice is excellent, and her songwriting talent is undeniable. While this album didn’t fully click with me, I can absolutely see the appeal for fans of this style. Favourite Tracks: “Leaving Las Vegas” and “All I Wanna Do” – both standout sing-along anthems with great energy. Least Favourite: “Strong Enough” and “No One Said It Would Be Easy” – both felt dull and forgettable. Album Artwork: A fitting, well-designed cover

"Honest! It's not what you think! I was only listening because of this app I've got. Really!" Not bad but probably they first and last time I'll listen to this one. Didn't hate it. Three stars.

Perfectly pleasant, but totally overshadowed by All I Wanna Do, with none of the other tracks leaving a lasting memory.

the most mid country rock to ever exist. her voice is nice, but the lyrics are really dumb at times. could be better, could be worse.

Ms. Crow can write an interesting song (but I seem to remember there were disputes about who wrote what? Plagiarism, or not sharing credit??). Well however they came about, these songs keep the singer-songwriter tradition happening. What radio-friendly music should be.

She has an easy, relatable, at times anthemic style. She’s never quite done it for me but perfectly inoffensive. And some of those songs have obviously ingrained themselves into popular culture so far I knew most of the words.

I am such a massive fan of Sheryl Crow's second (eponymous) album. I bring that up because I think it showcases her growth as a singer and songwriter and player (and producer) and is far superior to this album in every way. This, as a debut, is fine. Well produced, competent, scored her a couple of hits, it's a good start. But the production of her vocals is the worst part of this record. She sounds thin and strained in places, and the songwriting is derivative too often. I would strongly advocate for the second album over this one. I guess the reality is I never really liked this record. I've given it a try more than once, and each time wonder if I'll hear it differently. Nope... I think I liked it less today than ever. Glad it launched her career, but as the one of the catalog to listen to, no way.

Yeah, this was decent. All I Wanna Do is one of my favorites. Such a great groove. The rest was solid. I dug the last song. I remember liking her self-titled album a bit more.

Not sure I ever listened to this entire album. Sure the hits are still fire but I think in terms of GREAT album...her follow-up self-titled LP is better. I remember being so enthralled with her when she hit the scene b/c we didn't have many women at the time with this kind of sound and style. Case in point - there were 16 women on the main stage at Lilith Fair in 1997. Jen and I were there but can't remember if we saw Sheryl Crow, which is ridiculous!

I never really liked her big single All I Wanna Do and similarly I didn't love this album on first or second listen. Not bad, but didn't resonate. Except for Strong Enough - I always loved that softer song - and the similar softie I Shall Believe. However, the album was fine enough to keep playing until I could really pay attention and by my third go-through I found myself digging her more up-tempo rockers that started the album. Run, Baby, Run and Leaving Las Vegas (and maybe Can't Cry Anymore) are solid even if a bit flawed - she tries too hard on her vocals and there's a hint of pop sellout to the alt-country rock sound. But I still didn't really resonate with songs 5-10. Her soft songs in there are too slow or off-tempo and her up-tempo songs are uninteresting, except for maybe the Na Na Song. Trying a bit too hard for pop culture references but I like the edgy attempt. So 4 strong songs, 2 maybes, and 5 shrugs. Feels like a 3.5 at best and I'm not rounding up.

A wholesome brand of country pop

Middling.

Coffeehouse songs. Pleasant enough to sip to, but nothing catches me beyond that. okay, I liked "All I Wanna Do" enough back in the 90's and it is still a sing-along classic today.

Listenable

I haven’t felt that much like a teenage girl since listening to Houmous & Chutney’s 4th studio album ‘Feels; Like a Teenage Girl’. Written by Len about his teenage daughter’s struggles through puberty. I did suggest the title wasn’t quite right but Len insisted. His daughter still doesn’t talk to him 3.0

Jam sessions. We got a good eleven jam sesh songs here. Give up for the JAM! This album doesn’t say nothing deep, nor will it ask you to think critically. Fifty minutes of uninterrupted easy, breezy, fun. What a world. 3/5

Good album. Musically, I thought the album was pretty good. Interesting lyrics. For me, the vocals were either spot on or absolutely dreadful.

3.4 - Yeah it was pretty chill, but nothing mind blowing

Pretty much fine album. Did not offend me even slightly. 3.3/5

3/5. I love the authentic and raw emotion on this album. You can definitely feel the debut energy of it but it still has a lot of heart that you can hear in her vocals. The instrumentation is simple and with the joint songwriting, there are some varied ideas that don't always land but Sheryl somehow still makes them work. It's a solid album overall and a nice listen. Best Song: All I Wanna Do, Run Baby Run, Strong Enough

Ooooooh from only knowing her from her involvement in the cars soundtrack, this is fantastic. It’s just a nice take on grassroots rock with just some hella interesting music. I did find out that I knew All I wanna do which was a surprise so I guess I don’t just know her from cars

Easy listening for the grocery store or dentist office. Has potential but mostly falls flat

+1 for use of guitar No One Said It Would Be Easy has a great riff

Destacan, al margen de su mega éxito, Run baby run, No One Said It Would Be Easy y poco más.

decent, not my jam overall. Girl power.

I didn't have high hopes going into this one. To me Sheryl Crow is a 1 hit wonder with All I Wanna Do - and I can't stand that song Was pleasantly surprised that not all of her songs were like that. Some I quite enjoyed. But there was also a lot of bad songs scattered among them Overall ok album 3 ⭐️

I wasn't expecting an Aldous Huxley reference in first song. All I Wanna Do is obviously a banger, What Can I Do For You is really interesting, enjoyed Run, Baby, Run. A fun listen but not sure I'll be back

I’ve always had respect for Sheryl Crow, though I can’t claim that I have ever truly been a full-on fan. She had the ability of taking the classic storytelling of country and blending it with good pop-sensibility and singer songwriter heart. On this album, No One Said It Would Be Easy is a perfect example of her mastery of songwriting. I know some love All I Want to Do but hearing it again after three decades of saturation leaves me feeling like All I Want to Do is change the song. It’s a good song-fun; boppy-just very overplayed. Luckily the next song We Do What We Can is a bluesy ditty with a lot of heart. You can even hear some Sara Bareilles influence win here. I am proud to call Sheryl one of ours (…as if I had anything to do with it!😀)

Liked Leaving Las Vegas and Strong Enough.

Kinda boring

I feel like the High School Music songwriters drew most of their inspiration from this album.

Reaaallll eaaasssyyyy shopping music

Tuesday Night Music Club is yet another album that falls into the category of being just good. When i first heard the the name Sheryl Crow, I thought this was going to be a country album but while this does have some country elements, i wouldn't really say that this is a country album. This album has it's fun and catchy songs which i do find to be pretty good songs but it does have some boring ones too. I wasn't too miffed at this album though because the former easily overpowered the latter even if the latter's songs were longer. I do think that this is a decent album that i never really disliked at any point. Best Song: What I Can Do For You Worst Song: No One Said It Would Be Easy

Someone mentioned Taylor Swift in the reviews which put me off at first, it was all I could hear and I can’t stand her songs - sorry not sorry. But I got past my ego, and for the better. I’m not a huge fan of Sheryl Crow, I only really like specific songs. But this is a good enough album to get into. It’s easy going, pleasant, easy listening. I did enjoy “What I Can Do For You” and it would be rude to not like “All I Wanna Do”. The chilled jazz country number “We Do What We Can” was nice too. It does seem a rather generic country rock crossover, but it’s well put together and produced properly. Sheryl brought this genre into the mainstream more than anyone else. I’m certain that she was the inspiration for a lot of young girls to pickup a guitar and play, most likely including Taylor Swift. I can hear a lot of newer artists in her sound, she must have been a significant inspiration. That counts for a lot more than what people give her credit for. I’m giving a 3 for this particular album, it’s pleasant, but not wow factor. Maybe some of her other albums are better, but this is at the height of her popularity.

Feel like this was a bookend album, enjoyed the start and end but drifted a bit in the middle. Overall enjoyable album and will stick on again

No thank you. Not for me. Accomplshed musicianship for sure but not a fun listen.

This is fine and nice to listen to, I'm just not sure why it's on this list?2.5

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. Nice summery vibe to it.

This was good fun although not the kinda thing I’d normally put on

Sheryl Crow's debut is weird, but not in an obvious way. i feel like it has a quality to it of "trying everything", doing as many agreeable sounds as possible to try and get A Thing to stick. i start the album and "Run, Baby, Run" gobsmacks me, hitting me with this stale whiff of CMT and the radio at the local GreatClips. it's one thing opening your album with a ballad, it's another making it five minutes long. then it gets followed up by the much better "Leaving Las Vegas". there's roots rock, there's five minute harmonized folk ballads like Alison Krauss, and there's an inexplicable melding of country, rap, and the "We Didn't Start the Fire" method of protest song where you're just sort of listing stuff. all of it feels like it's in the wrong place, next to the wrong songs, and you could probably spend hours finding an order in which it makes sense but you'll still probably have a few pieces that won't fit. maybe you could call this aspect of the record eclectic, but i just think it's messy. charming, but still messy. with it hitting that cornball middle point between 70's country rock and disco, "All I Wanna Do" becoming a smash hit simultaneously feels like it was always meant to be and like a complete accident. they released four singles from this beforehand and that was what made No. 2 on the Billboard 100. a disco country song about talking with a drunk guy at a bar provided actual competition to "I'll Make Love to You". wild.

Wasn't a fan in the 90's when this was all over the radio but I was like 10 years old when this came out so thought maybe I'd come around 30 years later. Nope, still not a fan. The album wanders around aimlessly through different genres but never really hits any of the consistenly well. The radio singles are fine but not much happening outside of that. Igiving it a 3 for the nostalgia factor.

Considerable amount of songs that feel filler but there is a number of decent ones, plus the overall feeling thia record provides is a sort of smoothness, joy, but also light melancholy.

Pleasant enough easy listening

It was ok

It’s ok, in its way

Found her voice annoying on some songs, but I liked We Do What All We Can and All I Wanna Do as my standout tracks Music behind the vocals was pretty generic and meh

Somehow, her first album sounds like typical Sheryl Crow, which is an accomplishment in itself. Mellow Rock 'n Roll with a touch of folk. Definitely not a bad album by any means, and even contains her most popular song, but I expected a bit better, because all I wanna do is have some fun. Favorite song: "Leaving Las Vegas".

Better than expected but half are boring as fuck but there's a couple bangers.

Pretty good 3.5

Strong mid-90s coffee house vibes.

Boring but not bad

This was the first CD I ever owned. That being said, it's been like 30 years since I've listened to it. It is a decent album and more varied than I remember. I do think some of why I like it is nostalgia, but I did enjoy it for whatever reason. 3.49/5

Someone mentioned in a review that she is the female Tom Petty. I can see that - it’s a pretty cool observation. However, in her own right, Sheryl Crow has an amazing, amazing voice, and she really makes every song sound interesting. The genre is not really for me, but there is something here that’s still interesting enough for me to keep listening. I do think that Solidify, The Na-Na Song and What Can I Do could be dropped from the tracklisting.

Pretty boring, unfortunately. Very solidly middle-of-the-road.

Long time since listened to this. Aged well still some good tracks

This one's going straight to my 'people pleasing' playlist. It's kind of catchy, but not too catchy; it's kind of interesting, but not too interesting; it's kind of sonically present, but not too sonically present. The kind of music anyone can appreciate, but few will actually love.

I enjoyed this. When I started singing along to can't cry anymore, it had me wondering if I only liked songs that I knew and if the emotion was really nostalgia. Strong Enough my favourite.

niet slecht... maar ook niet bijster goed..twijfel tss 2.5 en 3

Great singing, nothing more interesting to say

I liked it more than I was expecting. Strong Enough is a pretty solid song and several of the non-radio releases were pretty good, too. Unlike a lot of other albums, most of the radio releases were weaker than some of the unreleased songs. 3.5*, but I can't round up.

This started off pretty generic and standard. It had almost a Tom Petty heartland rock vibe going on. Sheryl’s voice I also noticed is a little pitchy when going for certain parts and just needs just a little extra to nail some bits. Originally was gonna give this a 2.5/5 as it was pretty in offensive. However bumping it up too a 3/5 because the second half of the album picked up and had the best songs that fit her voice

Honestly not as great as I remember it being. All I Wanna Do is still a bop, but the rest is just… fine…

Fine. Not great.

Not much to say, it's very easy listening but doesn't hold my attention too well. She has a decent voice but the songs are plain. Didn't know she did 'All I Wanna Do' though, that's a classic.

All I Wanna Do is een beetje een oorwurm inmiddels. Maar verder kabbelt het rustig voort op de achtergrond terwijl ik aan het werk ben. Dan is het toch lekker dat het 90s is, dat blijft als een soort warm bad.

My perception of Sheryl Crow has changed. I already knew "All I Want to Do". I wrongfully assumed it would be straight-ahead country with pop tendencies and wow, I sold Sheryl short. One way to get my attention right away is to name drop Aldous Huxley like in "Run, Baby, Run". From that moment I listened a little closer. the moody "Leaving Las Vegas" and the weird groove of "Solidify" completely shook my preconceived notions. Tuesday Night Music Club is a portrait of an artist fearlessly experimenting with her sound. It's not

Couple of big hits

I'd say Tuesday Night Music Club is not bad for a debut album. Sheryl Crow stays in the pop/rock genre mostly, but "Solidify" reminded me of Gwen Stefani of No Doubt and "We Do What We can" of a sultry, jazz night club singer. I thought it showed potential about her range, but at the same time I thought about how too much of the album was one note. But of course, being a singer songwriter, Crow's lyrics are powerful and descriptive. The lyrics, if nothing else, saved the album.

Mwah beetje saai

Similar style to Alanis Morissette whose music I like better. Some great songs on here especially for a debut, but lots of it felt less thought out to me. No One Said It Would Be Easy is an example of what I mean.

It walks some fine line between average and annoying

This is the first time I have listened to an entire album of her and it wasn’t bad. The production style is very 90s sounding, meaning a bit too warm and a bit to clean, but the songs are winners.

Listened Before? Y Not too bad, just kind of poppy 90s stuff here. I do enjoy that she's from the tiniest of towns in Missouri and made it to the level of success that she did. This album won't turn any modern heads, but in it's time it was a big one. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: All I Wanna Do

This is a nice album with many songs that had heavy radio play at the time. However, to me it doesn’t stand out from hundreds of others.

Noooo my lengthy review got erased! I feel like a rube. Here were the main points: -I like lady singers and the 90s, but Sheryl Crow is too country for my liking. -A lot of these songs are about escape and running away, but I don't know if that's in reference to a particular life event in Crow canon (also when trying to find out via wiki, I learned that SC dated a co-musician (of the titular Tuesday Night Music Club) who died soon after this, in his 20s, and then later, Owen Wilson) -One of the songs sounded like "Pinch Me" from the Barenaked Ladies, but I forget which one, but I liked it -One of the songs had what I assumed was a deontic modal, but I forget which one, but I liked it -One of the songs had an interesting syntactic construction, perhaps the 3rd to last song, but I didn't particularly like it However, we shall not mourn what we have lost, we shall move ahead into the thrilling and will-aspirationally-remember-to-copypaste-my-reviews-into-my-notesapp-before-refreshing future!

I surprisingly didn't hate this album. It was a fine album, can't say I'd rave about it, but a decent listen.

I don't dislike Sheryl Crow but this album isn't something that I would ever seek out. There's something about her voice that pushes me a bit more than it pulls me and the hit single was overplayed/played out. 2.75/5

I understand why this album made the list, but if I were to pick something from Sheryl Crow, I would have chosen her self-titled or The Globe Sessions. This album is okay. Some really good songs and some clunkers, but this album really seems to suffer from songs that are too long. Not that all songs should be 3 minutes or less, but there’s no need for some of these to drone on as long as they do. “Leaving Las Vegas,” “Strong Enough,” and “All I Wanna Do” are the best songs on the album. Most others are middling to bad. There’s something so quintessentially 90s about this that I love, though. But it could be better.

A collection of "sing the song title" songs of middling to pleasant quality.

good debut

The singles definitely stand out on this one.

Its a good album with some decent songs and and all timer in All I Wanna do. For all her talents, I find her irritating.

Fine. Yowzers, that one song was freakin’ everywhere for a year or so.

She can write a song that I’ll begrudgingly call catchy (All I Wanna Do), a song I legitimately love (Strong Enough) and a song that is embarrassing for everyone (The Na-Na Song.) I can take or leave the rest.

Sheryl got some funk

The Na-Na Song is a strange rip from REM and the Beatles. The rest is kind of generic. Almost like she was throwing stuff against the wall just to see what stuck.

I quite enjoy country and Sheryl, but wasn't too impressed with this record. Middle of the road, generic country for most of the tracks, and one big hit (All I wanna do) with a nice groove but nothing amazing.

Bit of a pop/country crossover but interesting enough.

This is more interesting than I expected but I still wouldn’t say that I love it.

Much better than I expected

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would, but also found some parts of it a bit meh. Overall, it tickled the nostalgia in me and just a few notes into the first song I was instantly back in my kid body in the 90s.

It was ok, it started out pretty strong but got a little worse as it kept going.

I need to be in the right mood to listen to this type of music but I do enjoy a bit of Sheryl Crow and am very fortunate to have seen her live at Glastonbury 2019. This is a really great album with many good songs and for me the best track is Leaving Vegas.

Couple of huge tunes, but a LOT of filler on this one. Ok, but not great by any stretch of the imagination.

I love some of Sheryl's stuff. This was rather slim pickings though, and at tines a bit cringily 90s.

it’s decent, but ultimately nothing i’ll return to

Not my sort of music, but it's pretty inoffensive.

This was far more interesting than I anticipated it would be. I enjoyed the back half of the album a bit more than the front. Not a disappointment, but nothing that seemed exceptionally special.

Kivaa country alt pop rokkia. Samaa luokkaa kuin muutkin tälläiset 90-luvun naisvetoiset rock bändit. Parhaat: Run Baby Run, Strong Enough

What I can do for you should have been the breakout single. All I wanna do remains a disaffected anthem, the rest of the album has way too much of the worst instrument: steel guitar.

Crow has a unique perspective (you could imagine her being on Thelma and Louise's car stereo), and I really love "All I Wanna Do." But it's a high point on this album, and, holy crap, the journey there is meandering and boring.

I think, like many people, I didn't fully know what to expect with this. I walk away with the impression of, "white woman with a surprisingly deep record collection". I've never had an anti-Sheryl Crow bias, but I've never really liked her either: I'd say "Soak Up The Sun" is a great track and I can leave it there. I was surprised that quite a few songs sound like they could be Tom Petty covers on here, and there are a few that even branch out into heavier country or blues leanings, and even one jazz-adjacent track. It's not bad, and it's definitely not entirely my thing, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I didn't enjoy it a little. Favorite tracks: "Can't Cry Anymore", "No One Said It Would Be Easy"

unfortunately was assigned this one on a thursday night

piacevole, ma non molto di più. lei però ha una gran bella voce.

An album that just trundles along without any real high points.

Extremely 90s

Sheryl Crow is a much more interesting artist than any song of hers best to death by commercials for resorts and this album was pleasantly surprising

So many hits from the 90s that I love and additionally some other very interesting almost spoken word tracks that were deeper than anything I expected from the singer of Soak Up the Sun

To me, Sheryl Crow evokes bland, adult-contemporary radio and grocery store music. Upon listening, I found her voice to be borderline unpleasant at times, her delivery Dylan-esque. That said, the instrumentals and songwriting were good and gave a laid-back 90s folk-pop summer vibe. I imagine if another artist (such as the Dixie Chicks) were given these songs they would be more effective.

I like that the early to mid-90s really brought out a whole slew of strong female musicians. It seems like up until then the entire music industry was basically a boys club. It has gotten better since then but up until the 90s there were really only a handful of successful female bands/musicians. I have to give Sheryl Crow credit for being on the forefront of that movement. Although I don't really care for her music much, I can respect her for what she has contributed to music over the years. Her songs are catchy as hell. And this album at least is recorded well and very balanced. It is kind of dated and generic maybe but it's better than a lot of other albums from this time. 3/5

A nice variety of songs. Realized I had never really listened to Sheryl Crow past radio play. Enjoyed the album but tended to fade into the background.

All I Wanna Do is among my favorite pop songs ever written. Blissful and carefree, completely propulsive and catchy as hell. Otherwise, this is a fine enough album with a few other standouts. Strong Enough, being another solid single. And We Do What We Can being an acid-jazz style ballad that is quite nice. Solidify is a groovy little number with some of the better instrumentation on the album. Enjoyable, but ultimately not something that I will come back for (other than All I Wanna Do). 3 / 5.

Extremely catchy 90's pop country which I could not help but catch myself bopping along to

Her voice kinda reminds me of Gwen Stefani at certain points. Enjoyable enough but the only real standout is All I wanna Do. Happy I went to Matt & Kim instead of her last year. Just not my usual jam. Low 3.

I remember a fair amount of the material here from when I still listened to the radio in the 90s... some decent songs here, but not particularly interesting.

Great voice, strong songwriting, nice mix of styles. “All I Wanna Do” is a classic from my childhood. Solid singer-songwriter album.

I get it, this is a blazing promotion for folk-infused pallets of American tall-boy lagers. That is all. No 'but'. The last few tracks were nice.

Classic album. So many songs I forgot about. Not my usual style but very enjoyable album
