Reviews (page 13 of 14)

It's not as bad as Reggatta de Blanc but it's quite uneven: Synchronicity I and II are pretty good, the known singles are also OK, Mother (so disliked by many) is actually more interesting from a musical point of view than many other songs on this album that are bland. A small half is OK, the rest is barely average.

A few good songs surrounded by weirdness

A bit dull really. Every Step You Take was brilliant, but nothing else stood out except Mother, which would have been better in the hands of Nick Cave.

Aside from the like 2 hits album is meh.

I never got into The Police really, so I never got around to buying anything that they produced. After listening to this that was probably a good thing. Not really up my street now, and it certainly wouldn't have been back then. It's not entirely offensive, but I won't be listening again.

some great songs, some truly terrible ones

Struggled through this but lost the will during Mother. Still not a fan of the Police it seems.

Not my cup of tea

I can't.

Other than the song "Every Breath You Take" and a couple others, this wasn't a very good album on the whole.

The good songs were creepy

"Mother" : wtf ?

Maybe worse than the first? But more experimental in some ways that I respect even if they missed the mark for me.

decent album i'd say. nothing i'd listen to twice, but nothing "awful" either. except for mother. what a weird fucking song, man. had to skip that one.

Saved by two decent tracks, one of which has a much better cover version. This is what happens when three blonde men are allowed to do something together

Musically it was fairly average. As a 50-something it did evoke memories of my childhood, well, the more popular tracks did anyway. I never really got into The Police as a youth, and nothing I heard made me feel like I missed out. Oh yeah, and Sting can fuck right off, the pretentious git!

Similar sound to Sade, the band

too psychedelic

There are some good moments but they have no interest in being on one album with the rest of it. Not stylistically, not esthetically, not in any way.

The Police, to me, put out really soft, insipid, uninspired, nothing music. It's not dreadful, but it's just so, so weak. 1.5 rounded up.

Quite irritating and maybe enjoyed 2 songs total. Thought I liked the police more than this

Hmm honestly wasn't sure, some bits I liked and others didn't, preferred the second half of the album or side 2 on vinyl....and what about 'mother' ... awful

This is a high two for me. I don't love Sting's voice, or lyrics, and won't be going back to listen to this anytime soon. That said, it's got some interesting songs musically, and it's well produced.

ACAB includes this lot

When Sting and the lads got together, at what point do you think they decided that The Police was a cool name for band? It says a lot. The album is very The Police. You can take from that pretty much all you need to know.

I'd been ready for this to be dull, but it was actually much worse than that. It's so aggressive at the start, to the point that I had to check this was actually the right band. Mother is risible, horrible stuff, and the fact that the best song on it is a dirge about stalking that you'd run to turn over if it came on the radio says it all. Go away Sting!

Some great drumming...otherwise not good

the first two more electronica-y songs i actually enjoyed, but then it quickly mellowed out to the police that i know and detest

2.5 rounded down. Why am I being yelled at? What was with the dinosaur song leading into a song about kind of dating his mother? No really, what was with choosing a partner that reminds you of your mother? Hello?

While I didn't care for the wide majority of the tracks on here, I did enjoy a few of the lesser-played songs off this album. So I'm glad I slogged through the rest of this project, if only to discover the few that I'll listen to again

I liked this album more than I thought I would, but it's not exactly good. If the songs were half the length it would have been an improvement.

Second Police record I've got since starting this. Honestly? Just boring. There was some weird songs and some not-super Police sounding music on this one which I liked more than the other record - but I just don't get it. One of the biggest rock bands ever and often cited for their musicianship, but I just don't really hear it. Happy to take two records in so far because I now have a better informed opinion when I can tell people they are boring. I guess you can arrest me because I ain't a fan of The Police.

Felt like it was just Every Step You Take and a load of filler

every step you take is best song on here What is all that shit about dinosaurs early on haha 2/3*** purely off enjoyment, they might have been amazing revolutionaries etc

Just ok

Again I couldn't but not as bad

End of the album was way better than the beginning but the beginning was so bad I can’t say I liked the album at all

its the police and sounds like all the other police albums

Ugh just not my type of music

The fact that “Every Breath You Take” was my favorite shows how annoying this album had to be.

Quite liked the first track, and really enjoyed Mother. That was a belter. Miss Gradenko too. Couple of other tracks that hve some decent bits but then a lot that is utterly pointless. So bland and very dated. Big chunks sounded like the soundtrack to crap 80s feelgood films. If they stuck to their edgier side I’d enjoy them a lot more.

Not a huge fan of wor Sting, his mad Geordie/reggae way of singing is very funny but I don't think it's very good. Synchronicity was decent, bit proggy but interesting timing. The next one about dinosaurs was hilarious and then I can't remember much after that except Mother which sounded like a completely different band, wouldn't think it would be on the same album as every step you take. Every step you take is a well written song but overplayed these days. Would not listen again.

Not listened to much of The Police before and I'm not clarmouring to listen to anymore. Has a very 80s New Wave sound that I generally hate. "Mother" kinda of put me off the rest of the album but it did get slightly better after. Highlights: Synchronicity II Every Breath You Take

This didn't do much for me really. Just not very interesting at all, aside from "mother", which was very strange. Every breath you take is obviously a pretty iconic track, but I've heard it so many times. Been played 1.7 billion times on Spotify! Synchronicity ii was ok Won't be back

Overrated, some good songs but Mother annoyed me to the point of downgrading this a lot

This is the beginning of the end of Sting for me. For a band that started off so strong, I think this album is largely pretty silly. There may be some listenable stuff here, but mostly it’s just more prog and yacht rock. So weird when you think about about Sting’s trajectory over time. The first few albums by The Police were almost punk. And then by the time you get to Ten Summoner’s Tales the man has gone full cheese. And still somehow he exudes cool. Not sure how that happened. I also think Every Breath doesn’t belong on this album. It somehow captures the easy listening spirit of the rest of it while reminding you that this is a band that could still write an awesome pop song. Unlike the rest of what’s on here.

Ugh, eka puolisko oli varsin tuskallinen kokemus. Toka puolisko on parempi. Keskimäärin 1,5/5. Nyt pyöristyy ylös.

Aika turha kotelo yhdelle hittibiisille. 2/5

Eh, very Police-y

Mother is dugshite This album having Every Breath You Take seems to be what makes it considered a classic.

Next 5 songs played by my Spotify Algorithm: Fleetwood Mac - Second Hand News XTC - The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead The Police - Every Little Thing She Does is Magic The Cure - Just Like Heaven Billy Idol - White Wedding

Like the reggae-like stuff.

Only one good song

Eh, not my favorite. Not soothing or my kind of upbeat. Just blah.

Really odd album, quite boring for large parts, a few glimmers of quality but they don't last long, would very happily never listen to this again.

Mother was weird. Every breath you take a classic of course. 1983.

Cannot say I enjoyed that. ... Maybe some parts I'd say the album was ok. Not awful, but not particularly good either. Some of the songs were somewhat enjoyable. I can't say I'd listen to it again, though. 3/10 Fav track - Wrapped Around Your Finger Least fav - Mother

did not like

I bought this when it came out. Loved it then…not as big of a Police fan now. I think overplaying on radio knocked this one down a bit for me

Alright, not much more than that

An album of 2 half, first half mad, second half mellow. Too many religious references for me.

This is my second Police record I've gotten on this generator. This one, unlike the other one, is extremely experimental! Mostly gone are the heavy reggae sound, and instead, it's been replaced with new wave garbage. I don't know what the hell happened on Mother, but it is almost unlistenable. Just Sting moaning. Truly painful. Truth be said, I'm not a huge fan of The Police, and moreso of Sting. He is the same kind of douchebag frontman as Bono from U2. I just find that reggae sung by white people loses something. It's like it isn't genuine or something. Also, whatever the fuck is happening on most of this record is also not up my alley. Overall, not a great album today. It was a struggle to get through. It is definately stacked in the middle of the record. Once Every Breath You Take comes on, the record gets leaps and bounds better, until Wrapped Around Your Finger, then it returns to its regularly scheduled trash for the last few songs on the record. Favourite songs: Every Breath You Take, King of Pain, Wrapped Around Your Finger Least favourite songs: Mother, Walking in Your Footsteps, O My God, Tea in the Sahara 2/5

Amazing drummer in a shit band. The Police suck and idc. Mother is one of the worst things I’ve ever heard. Every Breath You Take is shit and idc or k why it’s popular.

boring, mother is MAMAcheeks. every breath you take

Look they can certainly create a vibe, it's just not one I ever really want to be on. Milquetoast mostly - needed to lean more into their Floyd shit like Mother. Fave track: Synchronicity II

I'm not a huge fan but I recognize this record for what it is. The two hits are alright I guess. This feels like cultural appropriation. And I can't shake it.

I liked two songs, the rest was meh, I'm moving on now.

Really disliked the forst half of the album (first 6 songs) and felt they were being provocative for the sake of it but the other songs were more what I expected. Not sure I would bother to listen to this again

More interesting than I expected.

Initially this album was interesting but now it is an absolute bore. Same sound through out of "WWWoooooOOoooOooOoooooOoooOoooo".

This was a weird album. I had pretty high expectations for some reason, but it started out pretty weak, and then suddenly you stumble into 'Mother' which... is a song that probably never should have been made. Every Breath You Take is a very good song, but apart from that the rest wasn't anything to cheer for.

This was a bit forgettable. I struggled to find interest almost immediately and nothing really changed for the whole album. It just passed by. Excceeeeept for "Mother" which gets brownie points for being super weird. How it got included on the album I will never know but I'm glad it did although not for its musicality.

Sting is really annoying. Faux Jamaican voice 4/10

annoying as fuck

Look I'm halfway through but I'm just listening to the rest out of courtesy and I can't just give up on day one can I

The first song sounds like it would be background music of someone driving through the desert in a 90s movie 2nd song goofy agh jungle Africa beat 4th song idk bro is ur mother on dat phone??? The world may never know Num 7:I’ll be watching u. Omg no way I didn’t know this song was here.

A downward spiral

Apparently this record was made while the band was falling apart. They could not stand to be around each other. They had to record their live parts in different rooms. The recording of Every Step You Take got so heated that they had to scrap the recording and comprise the track completely from overdubs. My favorite track on this was Wrapped Around My Finger. I love when The Police go in the dub direction. Funny enough this record was one where they tried to abandon the dub sound for more world influences with some dashes of synth-pop that was popular at the time. Not very cohesive, and side 1 was full of filler. I’ll give it a 2 because of the standout tracks on side 2.

Weet nu eindelijk van welk album every breath you take komt. Chill dat er veel afwisseling in zit, maar daardoor ook paar vage nummers imo (tea in the Sahara bijv) Favoriete nr.: Wrapped around your finger

The Police are not for me. Cartoon band.

You know its bad when the only song that saves this album is every breath you take.

1983....Cocaines a hell of a drug...gotta be the reason...flutes, lyrics, rhythms, piano synths, driving, yelling....its honestly insane not sure I like it and I love insane.....not good wouldnt listen to it again

Listening to this was like listening to nails on a chalkboard.

just okay

Well this is pretty dull

I have to admit, I didn't much enjoy this. Evethy breath is a great (but problematic) song but the rest of this album is just piled high with meh.

Şarkıların içinden bir tek " Every Breath You Take " güzeldi, onun dışındakiler çöp.

Breath and King of Pain are great, the rest... meh...

Første del er ganske bra, andre del er shitty shit

Didn’t care for most of this. Every Breath You Take is great and there are a couple other good tracks.

Hollow, bland, repetitive lyrics. I like the groundwork of the song mother but that was way too repetitive for me to like it.

The sequencing on this album is bizarre. There are some decent tunes on here, but rather than front load them, they’re all buried in the second half after a load of filler that ranges from insipid to actively terrible. It does pick up but a lot of goodwill has been squandered by then. As a coherent album this is a failure.

I've always disliked Sting's music. It just seems so...lame. Like, fake bohemianism combined with cheesy lyrics and a commercialized sound, but I've never sat down and listened to a Police album. I figured..they've got some classic singles, and there are definitely some Police songs that I love ("Demolition Man" for example) so one of their highest rated albums must be good, right? To say I was bored is an understatement. The lyrics are still cheesy, the guitar is kind of whatever, and while the bass is good, it just feels like Stewart Copeland's amazing drumming was wasted with The Police. I know that's just me, and many feel The Police is one of the all time great bands of the 80s (heck BBC called them the "biggest band in the world" which is insane considering the Talking Heads were recording at the exact same time.) Maybe The Police were huge, and I guess that's a good enough reason to put their albums on the list, but if that's the case, I'd call this one of the most overrated albums I've listened to yet.

What the fuck is Mother? The opening of this album is fun up to that song. Every Breath You Take is a creepy fucking song. Tea In The Sahara is cool.

They really should have stopped by the release of this album. Actually, the should have stopped after the release of Roxanne.

Couldn't get through it. First half was abysmal, the one about the dinosaurs was the worst no contest. Listened to masterpiece Every Breath You Take like six times in a row and then tapped out.

I was actually super disappointed in this album as I had expected more from it. I really only liked two songs and the rest was highly boring and unremarkable

I’ve never understood the appeal of The Police. Sting’s voice is not for me personally. King of Pain was great and I think Every Breath You Take has aged poorly. The rest of the reggae rock sound just doesn’t do it for me.

Chandler Sting

Yet another one hit wonder 80s album to add to the a-ha and soft cell pile. We know which song is good and then the rest of it was lame af

The singer obviously has mommy issues. Best Songs: Every Breath You Take Worst Songs: Mother

Not for me

It's hard to believe that "Every breath you take" is on this album given how bad the rest is.

Boring at best. Walking In Your Footsteps was corny as hell.

Not really a Police fan and this didn't do much to change my view

Good singles, but I had to skip a few tracks because they were so wanky

Pretty tedious

I loved the first two Police albums. But by the time this (their fifth & last) album was released, I’d moved on. Except for the stalker’s theme song (Every Breath etc.) & King Of Pain ( I actually would be more likely to play Weird Al’s piss-take - King Of Suede), I was unfamiliar with the rest of this record. I found the Andy Summers- penned Mother pretty interesting, but the rest was a tad boring. Still, the 2 afore-mentioned singles are strong. Two stars from me.

Schmick but a little soul-less. The singles are classics, the filler is Ok (with the 'more experimental' side 1, which is, really just filler). Too much coke, too much ego, recorded in separate rooms for "social reasons", everyone was at the height of their powers and the band was musically tight, but not integrated. The increased use of synthesizers means the rhythms are little less fluid than their earlier work, and the tensions have sapped a lot of the fun out of it. This is the Police album I am least likely to play.

3 bons titres sur 11 c'est pas fou

Scattershot thoughts on synchronicity: Wide range of styles represented here, liked the avante garde sax solos in o my God. I like the blues rock influence in general but Mother really piqued my interest - almost sounds like a delta blues parody song. Hillarious and alarming lyrics and delivery over an extra dissonant blues progression. You rarely hear left field stuff like this now because the record labels don't allow it. Wrapped Around Your Finger is my favorite song and has the strongest refrain on the album. Love the wild chords in the rhythm guitar in murder by numbers. Excellent groove on this song in general. Overall, i can appreciate the artistry and skill in this album but I don't "get" this album. Each song has elements that are great, especially when it comes to the compositions, harmonies, and vocal performances but for some reason it didnt connect with me. Normally I love experimental new wave but this album fails to gel its many genres into a cohesive sound so I'm left with whiplash by the end. Maybe I will "get" it with repeated listens but subjectively it's a low 2.5 to my ears. Ps. The bass and drums are very fun to listen to in this album.

i think i heard so many bad recommendations from this site that other bad albums are starting to not sound bad

It's alright, but it doesn't have the charm of their previous albums. Maybe I'm just biased because I used to listen to outlandos d'amour as a kid

Best Song: Mother. Now this was interesting and weird. A song written from such a perverse, bizarre perspective is uncommon. The music, lyrics, and vocal performance all worked together well to create this tortured, crazy result. Worst Song: Wrapped Around Your Finger. The unnecessarily longest song of the album. What about this orchestration needed more time? Overall: I'm just going to say it: I don't like Sting's voice. Even when he's singing powerfully it has this intense nasal whine. Sure, it kind of works in songs like Synchronicity II, but I found myself growing so tired of it by the end of the album.

sting. surely he's on some sort of register. he kicks footballs at motorbikes and blames it on Suggs.

A lone man in a hotel going down a slide with nobody to wave him off and nobody to greet him at the bottom.

ACAB or something.

Surprisingly disappointing

talking heads era

I didn't like this.

I find The Police enjoyable if somewhat unremarkable. I enjoyed this album but I don't think I would ever really deliberately seek it out either. I can appreciate that it takes some risks though for such a mainstream group.

It's more Sting than Police, but album has five good songs

Pretty good, atmospheric, easy to listen to. Not necessarily my cup of tea though.

Its like they realised half way through the album that they werent a comedy act.

I just hate everything about 80’s recording. I mean the album has its merits but it’s just not for me, I could try and give it a 3 but that mother song is cringe af

Instrumentally, this album is really cool, I very much fuck with their new wave angle, it’s extremely interesting and satisfying. There’s a keen ear to dynamics across the record, each track has something truly different to offer. I really dig the pacing and bursts of energy and color throughout. However, I fucking hate Sting’s vocals – he totally ruins this for me. 2

I'd kinda like to give this a higher rating, because I do quite like Synchronicity II, and King of Pain was better than I thought. (I always skipped it at the beginning because it was boring.) Every Breath You Take landed better than I thought it would. A couple other songs weren't bad, like Wrapped Around Your Finger and Murder by Numbers, maybe? But I wasn't into a lot of it, and Mother was so discordant and repetitive and upsetting that I had to turn it off, the first time I've done that, actually.

Weird. I actually like a fair number of Police songs, but this album did not do it for me. I think I liked two songs: Every Breath You Take and Wrapped Around Your Finger. The rest were all very underwhelming

Did not dig.

Synchronicity II wasn’t too bad but overall just a bit of a meh album

A fair few cool songs on here but unfortunately I can't stand Sting's stupid voice

Not as bad as I was expecting as I hate Sting. I always like the drumming on Police songs

That was weirdly eclectic. I like variety, but this goes a bit far for my tastes, to the extent that it seems to lack flow and is difficult to understand what it is. Every breath you take is on here. 2/5.

okay but cheesy and missing reggae

God what an unpleasant album.

This was all over the place. Classic songs in between terrible ones. How did I make it through life with no one ever pointing out the song Mother before? I can't believe it was real.

Some of this is really hateful yes, but some really good tracks on here also. Also legit cannot believe there is a track on this about dinosaurs and I can’t decide if I should reward for this or penalise. Realistically I won’t revisit

Bad 80's Coldplay. Added 1 star for Every Breath You Take.

Some of the tracks alludes the idea that therapy wouldn’t be a bad thing for these guys.

It's ok. I'm only a fan of a few their songs.

forgot it was playing because it's background music. has that one creepy song

15th October 2021 Listened on my phone in the morning on my last day at home home. Came third in poker at Paulie's in the evening. There's a worldliness to this sound which I didn't expect. I've known the police through songs like every breath you take but if anything that's the outlier here.

Couldn't get into the groove. My fault not theirs.

Not really my style, and a little bit one note musically. There are some songs I could see myself listening to in the background, but nothing I would add to my list of favorite songs. The second half of the album is better than the first. Highlights: Murder by Numbers, Every Breath You Take

wanted to like this but apart from the stand out popular tracks this was not a fun listen

Whew. To admit bias, I've never been a huge fan of Sting. However, I tried to go into this record without letting that affect my judgement. It's difficult when the first few tracks are pretty experimental, "Mother" especially (what the actual hell *was* that song, anyway?). The record hits a stride midway at "Synchronicity II", and kind of fluctuates from there. I haven't listened to "Every Breath You Take" independently in years, and it was surprisingly nice to hear in the context of the record. Still, the stride is short lived, and most of the tracks feel like... somewhere between "experimental" and "whatever, that's close enough to a song". Favorite tracks: "Synchronicity II", "King of Pain"

Was OK, a couple of stand out tracks amongst some really weird one. Definitely can see why i never got into this band though.

Singles are good, didn't really like the rest of the album and I like The Police

A bit of cacophony; Every Breath You Take is actually a great song tho (minus the creepy undertones)

2.5 to be exact. I didn't love but I didn't hate it either.

2/3's of the album is nonsense, redeems itself slightly near the end but too little too late

Not great apart from a couple of songs

Not much cop

2 good tracks of Every breathe you take and king of pain. The rest aren't up to much.

So boring to listening to. Would go down as terrible if it wasn’t for a good tracks

Levyltä löytyy hittislovari Every Breath You Take ja sitten sen vastapainoksi kaikenlaista kokeilua. Ei jatkoon.

Dit vind ik niet leuk. Klinkt als een mobile game ad

Another fine album? More misses than hits for me slightly which is always hard when I know the band does have a number of good songs. Surprisingly liked Synchronicity I which gave me hope for the rest of the album but fell short overall

I don't really love The Police's sound generally, but this was a fine listen. Biggest hit on it ("Every Breath You Take") is one of my most-hated singles of all time.

Somehow I don’t think I’d ever heard this entire album. I mean, if I had I’d like to think I’d remember the song “Mother” because that’s some batshit insane inclusion here. (And the 4th track on the album, no les!) The hits range from very good to just okay, in my opinion, and the rest is whatever because I really just want to know more about what the hell “Mother” is and what it’s doing here.

Mother was fucking upsetting. The Police don't do it for me

Just a casual Police fan here. I liked Ghost in the Machine better, this album is a bit weird for me.

Not super impressed. The sound just feels a bit one-dimensional and the lyrics aren't inspired.

Was very disappointed in this album, I like a few police songs but only Every Breadth You Take was on this album, I found the rest pretty forgettable

I love every breath you take of course, but a lot of the other songs were not my taste, a little too experimental. about 50/50

Ei kolahda

Ihan pätevää soitantaa, mut biisit ei juurikaan sytytä. Sisälsi aivan liikaa renkutetun ygöskipaleen, joka sinänsä on ymmärrettävää ollakseen ainoa hittiainekset täyttävä.

Really not that good. Some bass is ok. Some synths are ok. Mother is truly terrible. Lots of paul simon influence but more basic and it's not good. Pretentious. Boring.

Some really weird songs in this that incorrect album, and then every breath you take

Over a guy’s life it’s easy for him to get bullied into accepting that there’s a lot to like about The Police, if you can get past Sting. That part’s hard in the first place, when you’re a child of the 90s whose first memories of Sting are post-Police, titillating Oprah with tantra stories Sting. So I’m listening to this, trying not to think about Sting, thinking “Yeah, there’s cool stuff here, I can see why people like these guys” and then Mother comes on and it’s one of the worst and dumbest songs I’ve ever heard. How about that.

Yeah, Sting can do syncopation

An overrated band, whose best track, Roxanne, is not on this album. Synchronicity was released in the years mainstream music was going bland & this only reinforced that conclusion. Every Breath You Take is catchy… but sticks in your mind like a stalker.

God, this was dull. A trudge.

Not for me although a couple of tracks are ok

Weird and slightly pointless album with a creepy lead single. No thanks

Actively unpleasant to listen to. There is literally no need for this RGP, right towards the bottom of one stars… Tom.

I don't know what I was expecting, but this is not it for me.

Really hated this one. But still not as much as they hate eachother.

IS THAT MY MOTHER ON THE PHONE?!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I've got a bone to pick with the people of 1983. How did they let The Police become 'the biggest band in the world'? It's a hellscape of cultural appropriation and ego. The sound of Sting gleefully smelling his own farts. Even the hits don't save it. History shows the linkage between popularity and quality is weak and the sedated masses can't be trusted.

Don’t ever say the word synchronicity again…ever….this album was awful. The fact that we’re allowed to even rate it a one, shows the respect the producer of this app has for artists and albums of all kinds.

I don like police remastered

These guys suck.

Awful. I was happy when I saw today's album was the Police but boy was i wrong.

Made it to "Mother". This album is objectively terrible. Who would derive pleasure from listening to this? The worst type of overindulgent ego packaged as creativity. Awful.

What a weid album. Most of it ran along tepidly enough and was mostly forgettable. "Walking In Your Footsteps" has bewildered me, "Every Breath You Take" is what it is in all its glory as a song that still gets played on the radio and misinterpreted by many. And then there´s "Mother" and that is the worst song I heard in a long time. Jesus Christ, what a weird WEIRD song. I did not like anything about it. After listening to Synchronicity I am quite confused how this album won Grammys.

Not my fave

horrible, the only good (and very good by the way) song is the one that sounds nothing like the others

The band thought this album was sub par, they were right. Just shows what an inflated ego and cocaine will produce. Utter tripe

It's enjoyable enough. I'm not gonna validate it belonging in 1001 albums though. I think there are better. But this was a good exploration

...och ge mig Puffys version av "Every breath you take" illa kvickt tack

Not my cup of tea at all

Nej nu. Vad i helvete. Igen!? Det här var farao inte bra. Dom får ta bort det där nu. Eller åtminstone byta in Shaggy.

Booooorrrriiiiiiinnnngggggggggg 🥱

I really didn't like this, much more than I expected. The hits are okay, but some of the lesser known stuff on this album was hard to get through. The sounds is mostly pretty flat and the vocals always sound like they're coming from down the hall. Just not for me. I kind of hate the cover too, both are 1/5.

Not for me.

Went into this album extremely apprehensive of what I was about to listen to, since I genuinely get a full body cringe every time 'Roxanne' plays somewhere. Guess I was right to be this afraid. This was one of the worst experiences this generator made me go through. It's impossible to believe in music after listening to 'Mother' because if THAT is what's considered good I fear for the human race. I think I'll take a break from this project.

This was painful. Gave up by the third song. Damn I hate sting.

I've only heard the hit songs from The Police before, and I thought I just didn't like them. Now that I've heard a full album of theirs, I can safely say I absolutely hate their music.

Only gave this a star for “Every Breath You Take.”

Surprised how bad

Amazing this strangled squawk was once considered to be good singing.

- surprisingly did not like this album one bit. something about Sting singing at the very top of his range was grating and hard to get through, and the reverb and 80s sound effects didn't help - "hey, mighty brontosaurus/don't you have a lesson for us" is just a bad lyric (maybe not for the time period, but for today it's terribly cheesy) - I really liked "King of Pain" when I first heard it on a Police greatest hits compilation years ago and assumed the rest of the album would be similar in terms of listenability, but it just felt difficult to be carried along by. less like songs, more like... disjointed, reverb-heavy deep-80s soundscapes with words - ultimately, Sting's voice was the worst offense. I think it makes a lot of sense why "Every Breath You Take" is their biggest hit and gets the most radio play; the highest note he hits in that song is significantly lower than his highest on almost every other track. even "Roxanne," another hit from a different album with some notable high notes, has more of a screamy-type of timbre ("RAAAAHXANNE") compared to stretching his voice to its thinnest extreme here - I hate giving a 1-star rating, but if we're going only by subjective enjoyment here... I think the worst part is that I expected greatness and was excited to finally listen to this album in its entirety, but I was left feeling extremely disappointed. this is the opposite of how I've given 5-star reviews: those have been reserved for bands or artists whose efforts wholly surprised me in the opposite directions

For the most part I actually liked the way this album sounded ASIDE from the singing. Goddamn not only is the voice really irritating and whiny to me but dude is going oooooon about who knows what in every single song. Every tracks starts okay and then is too long and repetitive. "Mother" sounds like something the CIA would use to torture people

That was super dreadful. Probably the worst song Ive ever heard is there and then one of the biggest hits ever

A lot of energy on this record. But other than energy, pretty lacking. There's something about this record that I can't put my finger on--something weird. Like a weird production sheen? Is it the British accents? Or is it just weird art-pop? Maybe all of the above. Either way, did not enjoy. At various times, this record feels half-baked, grating, disjointed. Even the singles that I (maybe at some point) had heard before just wore me down. Just overall an unpleasant experience.

Not really for me. The songs just do not sound interesting to me. Like "Every breath you take" is passable, but barely as a mostly standard pop'ish song, and only because they stick to not trying to be deep or invoke imagery. I'm not exactly a lyric connoisseur, but this shit is so corny. The walking in your footsteps song sounds like edutainment lmao. And the whole synchronicity concept that goes nowhere and feels like skindeep attempt to be like "I know philosophy, but I'm also edgy, but don't worry, the lyrics won't match the ambience or vibe of the rest of the song tihi <3"

I don’t think I like the Police? Just really bored by all these songs. Not my vibe. Walking in your Footsteps is at least half decent but even then I’ll never go back to it. definitely not going back to the album in total.

Did not love this one, I like some Police tracks but this album disappoints.

I've never been a big fan of The Police to begin with, and man this did absolutely nothing to impress me. It's just repetitive, grating, and borderline unlistenable.

Fuck off Sting.

This was absolute shite. There was absolutely nothing synchronised about it whatsoever. Just get like nonsense wailing and people banging instruments Noticeably awful Would turn off it it came on the radio Expected more

Painful Art Rock.

Look, I don't generally like The Police. They've never appealed to me. I don't know what this album is, it's not at all what I expected, although I can't say I had any real expectations. "Mother" doesn't belong on this album. Radical nonsense. It's too way out for me. I hate "Every Breath You Take" because of a traumatic time during the release of P. Diddy's "I'll Be Missing You". I guess that's it. Sorry.

0.8/please get these mid ass white men out of this list omfg

Mother? More like oh brother this guy stinks!!!

I loved that sample from "I'll Be Missing You" (rot in hell, Diddy), traced it back to the nearly perfect "I'll Be Watching You," and purchased The Police Greatest Hits on CD, which was the kind of thing you did back when you couldn't otherwise sample (hehe) the music before buying. I listened to that one golden track a couple dozen times and the rest only a time or two because, well it's shit. So I came to this thinking hey, maybe I'll give it another chance. Here's what happened, dear readers: Tracks 1-3: Good lord this is horrific shit. "Hey Mr. Dinosaur You really couldn't ask for more You were God's favorite creature But you didn't have a future" Track 4, "Mother": OK, that was delightfully unhinged. Maybe there's hope. Track 5-6: Nope. Track 7, "Every Breath": Yep, still slaps. Track 8: So they want to be an arena rock band with big anthems, eh? Someone tell that to side one of this album. And yes, Sting, you are the king of pain, poor thing. Being a rich white beautiful entitled British rock star is a bum deal. Thoughts and prayers. Track 9: Midding as 8. Could be fun to sing if you were very drunk, and stupid, and had sun stroke. Track 10: Now we're back to the garbagey shit! Gotta finish like we started. Track 11: Bonus track, perhaps the shittiest of them all! My wife is mad at me b'c I played it in her hearing. Fuck The Police.

Repetitive and boring.

I guess I'm not a fan of the police!

Not great

Ugh. Sting. Annoyingly overrated.

Fucking dogshit

Straight up did not enjoy the first half. I like a lot of individual Police songs but this album is rough for me... I think they are making an attempt to sound exotic? Just not working. Mother is GRATING. I am viscerally repulsed by this. The only saving grace in this album is I'll Be Watching You.

how horrible on the ears. only got one good song and you know the one. even then, i'd rather only hear it confined to a 30 second commercial i won't be paying attention to.

Just not for me

When this album appeared on the list, I was so horror-struck that I gave up on the 1001 albums challenge for nearly four months. I couldn't face listening to Sting's whiney voice and the band's fake music. I listened to it today though, and I have to say, I was quite right. It's utter twaddle.

This album is what happens if you put kid on ritalin in a Guitar Center. Track 4 gave me PTSD.

Not a fan of the police

These guys are pedophiles

The pretentiousness of Sting oozes out of this record. And if I ever Every Breath You Take again it might be my last breath.

Horrific

Never knew how much I didn’t like the Police until now. Go figure. ‘Every Breath You Take’ is a banger.

🎶it’s dogshit pure and simple.🎶

Hate the police hate sting sorry Stewart Copeland

Nothing necessarily awful about this track list, but my interest was not maintained. I often felt bored, frustrated or angrily confused at the music. More towards the end I found disjointed and terribly dull.

Fuck me Sting’s voice is annoying isn’t it? Dreadful

Awfull

The Police are an overrated hits band fronted by a prominent example of why you shouldn’t let the bassist sing. I do not like the white bot reggae vibe on show in this album. The obligatory single hit from this album is probably their worst. Iron Maiden does songs about stalking women so much better. Overall the only nice thing I have to say about this album is at least it’s not Regatta de Blanc.

Say 'synchronicity' again. Say 'synchronicity' again, I dare you, I double dare you motherfucker, say ‘synchronicity’ one more Goddamn time! Not gonna lie: I like Every Breath You Take. It’s like Sting decided he could actually sing for one song, or at least it’s a song that leans into his vocal abilities. Hopefully this is the last album on this list from The Police.

1. zynchronicity - 0 2. footztepz - 1 3. god - 1 4. mother - 0 5. gradenko- 0 6. zynchronic 2 - 0 7. breath - 2 8. pain - 1.5 9. finger - 1.5 10. zahara - 1.5 11. murder - 1

It's like a discount Disney soundtrack, so it's not even benefiting from the positives of sounding like that.

Nope. This annoyed me either because of that strange sound or those cringy lyrics or that weird quality of sting‘s voice. Mostly all three.

"Hey, mighty brontosaurus! Don't you have a lesson for us?" This was awful, sorry.

I just don't get the appeal of the Police. Maybe it's because I blame them for all the terrible directions that Rush tried to go in the mid 80's, maybe it's because I still think Sting is just an egotistical jerk. Anyway, Adult contemporary music is a hell of a drug. Just because it won some awards the year it came out, doesn't mean it should be on this list.

Maybe it's just me and my mood, but I couldn't quite sit through this one. Couldn't dig it any less. Overproduced, pretentious, self-important and void of any humor. To make a small point: A harp, a skull and a clock on the cover, those closed eyes... and all in earnest, c'mon. Plus all those teacher-making-art lyrics "Mephistopheles is not your name / But I know what you're up to just the same". Alot of the music is actually really interesting/strong in parts. But it's so distastefully dressed up that I just can't do it. Sorry.

Fuck. The Police.

2 police albums? DNF. I gave the last one 2 and I was too generous. I do not like sting.

Um… the Police really suck. I just don’t get it. It’s jazz rock which is done way better by Steely Dan. Sting is a massive douche bag. He’s like the Bono of England. Boo this band.

I'm not a huge fan of The Police, but I can tell you this is not even THE record of theirs you should listen to before you die. In fact, it doesn't appear that their debut, which is arguably their best, isn't even on the list?! They should have stopped at one album with Sting disappearing into tantric obscurity and not becoming some sort of Bono type twat who makes a duet album with Shaggy. The only good thing he did after that first record was play Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. Despite its title, this album is all over the place. Parts of it sound like some shit attempt at making a Television song, while others sound like post-prog Genesis, yet other parts are just radio-friendly schlock. I didn't expect to rate Boston higher than this, but it's really just that irritating. Also I couldn't help but laugh when I thought I heard "walking in your foodstamps"

I just don't like Sting's voice. The music can be fine. I think there are some quality tracks on this album, but they just ain't for me.

Truly horrible. This is non-binary music.

Odd album. Bits (such as Mother) are reminiscent of The Residents, and it starts off with a bit of a feel of Paul Simon's Gracelands. But, aside from the fact I can't stand Sting's nasal whine, the more standard cod-reggae stalker songs (Every Breath and Wrapped Around) preclude any interest in the rest.

The first couple of tracks sounded speeded up. I thought Spotify was fucked. Mother is a mess. How did that even make it on to a Police album? Every Breath is VERY creepy. A strange inclusion for 1,001 Albums To Listen To.

Fucking horrible

Dad rock 🥱

Don’t start an album with a terrible 12 minute track

This is not for me. i don't like Sting's voice. The reggae tinged tunes are not good. Mother is an abomination so bad it made me laugh put loud.

Not a fan of the police. This album has a frantic tempo that I just can't enjoy.

Lose :( Najbolja pjesma: 1. Every Breath You Take

I'm Mr Sting yes Mr Sting from the Massive House with the Massive drive. So this appears to be the most MOR of The Police stuff, I don't really like any of it. I liked some of their earlier singles, every little thing she does is magic etc., but not these songs or the big single here massively. Is there more than one single on this record because I only recognise the rapey one? Only really got interesting briefly when the demented Mother came on, thought I'd accidentally put Danzig on. I think by the end this is earning the one star dirge rating. I was very happy when it was over. Can't Stand Losing You came on immediately after which reaffirmed my opinion that they were at least good at one time. There are 2 Police albums in the list yet they included this garbage over the record with Roxanne on it??

The singles are fine. But largely I did not like this. The song Mother, is one of the worst I have heard in recent memory. I don't know how this was such a good seller.

Already listened, trash

Just no

Classic album. Probably great but I can't stand Sting.

I did not like this album, I am not sure why not.

Not my favorite. Feels like a poorly constructed Talking Heads album. The two big hits are buried in the middle, odd choice.

This is like the ramblings of a mad man. A former genius who’s gone totally mental but he did some good things some time ago, so everyone just accepts it - we are all idiots. Possibly the most frustrating album I’ve ever listened to. I can’t play a single musical instrument but I feel like I’d be capable of writing a better album than this. I love early police albums. This is totally abhorrent. I’m pretty sure Ed Sheeran has written better albums than this. I’m blown away by how much I can’t stand this 0.1

There are a lot of albums we've heard so far where I could see why it would be enjoyable to someone, but this is the first one that just fucking sucks and I cannot fathom enjoying it. ZERO stars I never want to hear any of these songs again.
