Funk/disco isn’t really my scene, but this is a fun record. Some really good, danceable tunes, loved a lot of the guitar work.
This album definitely proves that disco does not suck. In fact, disco actually can be very fun when it's done well. Giving this album a rating was a bit tough because it succeeds at almost everything it set out to do, but disco music does lose some of its shine when listened to outside of a dance club. There were a few times where the songs felt repetitive, like they could've either been cut down or extended in a more varied way. Even so, I couldn't help but dance around while I listened, and I do think the production and energy were full of life. Parts of this album were downright corny and kitchy, but you know what? Those were some of my favorite moments. The fun here was palpable, and in the end, my desire for a disco resurgence was only strengthened.
Gets a bit repetitive, but you can't deny how funky it is.
Funky in a way I actually dig. I think I like funk more when it can fade into the background. Lyrics more as tone than statement.

I said this about the other CHIC album we had, but this bass playing is incredible. It is by faaaaaar the best thing on the album. The guitar playing is also pretty great, but the melodic repetition of the other instruments makes it pretty tough for me to focus and stay locked into the music. "Savoir Faire" is kind of the biggest culprit of this. "Le Freak" is an incredible song, and I do like this album. I just wish that I could love it. I end up having a good time, just disappointed. I like disco usually but couldn't get into this album as much
Kinda underwhelming, some great baselines and overall tracks, but most of it feels like fluff and for a disco record it's not that fun. The interesting and best part comes from the originality of the construction of the album, the first part implying a live and the last part Funny Bones (mvp of the album) being without singing, just laughs, the radio presenter and sounds is very very cool.
While familiar with a couple of the cuts, I had never heard this album in its' entirety. I enjoyed it overall, with a couple of these clearly well known hits.

Pretty fun. First handful of songs are a blast. Kinda loses steam in the second half. I get why it's included, there's some all time bangers on this things, but I feel like listening in the album format isn't really the way to experience it
Sheesh Chic, c'est chic. I suppose it is a bold move to put an instrumental after the big single of the album. And the album never recovered from that. Le freak is a banger, but the rest isn't up to par.
Go disco, men inte så varierat album
This album is primarily disco, and was released at the height of the disco era. There are a few slower tracks which are forgettable. I wonder how many times I’ve heard “Le Freak” in the last 47 years, probably thousands. Also I wonder how this album made it onto the list - maybe selected just to represent disco music.
Somehow I always imagined 'Le Freak' came out in the early 90s, but I don't know why I thought that since it sounds plenty 70s, what with the disco of it all. The album cover looks cool, kinda like a soundtrack to a tie-in novel about the movie adaptation of the board game Clue. I always like a stylin' all lowercase track listing. Overall the hit single is a good representation of how the album sounds. I like it fairly well -- good energy, no annoying noises (=more keys and horns than guitar), a healthy pace. A bit repetitive but that's not necessarily a negative. One of my favorites of the week; it's a high 3, but not quite a 4. Highlight: Whenever they say the band name in the songs (which is often; Jason Derulo must have trained at L'académie Chic), the title '(funny) bone' Lowlight: 'Chic Cheer' (really what is happening here? I'd prefer either no vocals or a lot more vocals. Hate a sparing vocal)

Chic, C'est Chic ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Three stars because much of the dance music we have or at least rhythm-backed tunes that allow dancing owe it to the disco era. Some pleasing stuff on here. I think for disco era I'd have to hear Moroder to give it 4 stars.
Le freak is classic. Mostly alright fun album for being disco music. One song felt painfully slow, I think it was 'at last I am free'

Back in the day, the Onion used to run a parodic column by Smoov B. Listening to Chic was like the finely crafted perfect groove disco version of Smoov's column: I mean this totally as a compliment. Sure some weak songs and run longs, but a real pleasure.
literally the only albums i have gotten from this generator so far (almost 300 albums in) with french titles are the ones that i got while i was in montreal. the algorithms are listening
Le Freak is a classic, and I’d never heard Savoir Faire before, which was excellent. But some of these songs go on for a bit too long without variation

fun album.
Similar to my experience with the Sister Sledge album - this is a very fun, often quite breezy album if not quite for me. The standout though was Savoir Faire - an instrumental that really surprised me in how much I enjoyed it.

Pop classic
Le Freak is pretty iconic, yeah. The rest of the album is... surprisingly forgettable, sadly. I think it's nice lounge music, but it's unremarkable in its constantly repeating rhythms and lyrics. I wouldn't mind it in the background - but as a standalone activity, listening to this album is rather boring in my opinion. Disappointing, really.

It's slick, elegant and pleasant. However, every song goes on a couple minutes longer than it should, and since the songs here are quite simple, it results in this short album feeling longer.

Is this the sort of album and music I’d choose to listen to? No! Can I appreciate that it’s great at what it does? Absolutely. A disco classic with some great tunes. Just because it’s not really my cup of tea I can still appreciate it as an album.

This is forget-your-worries dance music, and people always need that. "Le Freak" is of course a classic, and I appreciate CHIC's place in disco and pop-music history. It's not something I'll necessarily revisit—"(Funny) Bone" is a weird way to end this album—but it was a fun listen.

I mean yeah dude. le freak c’est literally chic. for the most part i enjoyed this - I got bored of at last i am free, i do recognize the repetitive nature of the song is just a part of the genre. all the other songs were so solid for me - everything else is so well tied together, but not overproduced, and you really can’t go wrong with disco. HUGE fan of the saxophone on sometimes you win. i think i just like saxophone. funny bone is kind of an insane song; ‘the whole world’s a circus but don’t you be the clown!’ is funny though.
Chic have some great tunes, some of them are found on this album.
Now this is groovy! So danceable and hard to sit still to. Beats are great. Met in NYC. Apparently Le Freak was originally written as Fuck Off.

Wow, what a vibe this was.
While it isn't something I'll necessarily listen to everyday, it's undeniably awesome.
Le freak is such a standout. The rest of the album is competent but not generally exciting. The guitar work is impressive throughout. Low point was trying to get through all of at last I am free.

I liked this one too but again I don't think any of the songs would be something I would listen to regularly except I did like the instrumental in savoir faire! The only song I knew before listening to the whole album was "le freak". Very groovy!!
I knew and liked Le Freak and I Want Your Love. There were too many instrumental parts which as I’ve previously stated in past reviews I am not a fan of.
Le Freak is a total disco banger and the rest of the album is enjoyable enough.
Some interesting work and a couple of great songs and instrumentals on this album.
The singles are good but there are some very average tracks here too. The production is excellent and Bernard Edwards bass is the star of the show for me.
Early days disco
Not an album I would go out of my way to listen to again, but it was fun to hear from start to finish once. Like many other people said already, it's great background music, but not something that rewards detailed study. The guitar is nice and Le Freak is a banger, so three stars from me

Great musicianship and songwriting. Lyrics are kinda cheesy tho. Also, just not my thing. It's like body positive disco.
The bass and guitar are delightfully 80’s in the best way. I had a good time listening to each individual song but in my opinion they go for just a bit too long. Unlike many disco records, I didn’t get particularly bored during the run time.
Nile Rodgers has produced some of my favorite music but this album feels a little dated overall.
Listened to before: No Great production, absolutely danceable - There's just not much reason to listen to this outside of a disco.

Who knew that a security guard telling the band to "Ah, Fuck Off!" at the door of Studio 54 would inspire one of the most recognisable funk-disco tracks of all time. The rest of the album is well decent too!
Nile Rogers is one of those artists that is so bursting with talent, but I find almost everything sounds the same.
Nile Rodgers is the master of the perfectly innocuous jam. Legit enjoyed listening to "Le Freak" for the first time on purpose instead of on a school bus speaker or in some boutique from which I would purchase nothing. "At Last I am Free" is total torture tape material - a Branch Davidian would surrender his child bride by minute 5. The rest is solid statistical median good music.
we've all heard freak out! a billion times, but it's wroth remembering this is one of the most perfect songs ever-if you could hear this for the 1st time again you'd get goosebumps and be dancing jumping fist pumping whooping your butt off, it's a masterpiece. That's why they're on here - Niles is SO ARROGANT but he really did change things up - tidbit - 1st rap song ever sampled Chic's Good Times (rapper's delight), which Niles 1st heard on the radio!? but has since been credited on that song. Anyhooo this record bursts out of the gates but peaks with I want your love and the rest just fizzles out into mediocrity.
Listening to Le Freak after Chic Cheer...so much chic. It's been a long time since I've listened to "I Want Your Love". Honestly, this makes me want to rollerskate.
Surprisingly good! Varied and I wasn’t expecting that.
Neither the band nor the album meant anything to me. The genre description increased my interest in the album. This lasted for most of the first track. However, the music started to get on my nerves. So I moved on to Le Freak and I knew it. This is THE disco classic par excellence. Yes, it makes you want to dance. Even for me, who has never been to discos and doesn't like the music. But that's neither funk nor soul. So let's continue with the piece Savoir Faire. I liked it surprisingly well. That's funky. The track Happy Man was also quite funky. With I Want Your Love, the disco parts became too clear again. Then I stopped listening properly. I won't be listening to it again any time soon. 3/5
It’s a trip. It’s got a funky beat. And I can bug I it to it.
This disco/soul thing is not really my genre, but I did enjoy this at a certain level. It was nicely funky (especially the basslines), but the hooks and the repetitiveness of the lyrics and phrases did get a little out of hand a few times. I listened to it twice just to make sure I wasn't missing anything, but I came away from the second listen in about the same place as the first. It was good, but not amazing. I probably won't listen again. Three stars.

C’est Chic is like getting dressed up to go somewhere fabulous, only to realise you’re mostly vibing in your own mirror. It’s classy, smooth, and effortlessly cool but not too cool to remind you it was born in the disco era, complete with glitter and occasional saxophone flirtations. "Le Freak" still struts into the room like it owns the place, and honestly, it kinda does. “I Want Your Love” is the slow-motion dancefloor moment where your drink gets warmer and your heart gets softer. That said, I didn't fall head over heels for every track. There’s a bit of filler sparkle tucked between the hits, like a designer jacket with one too many shoulder pads. Still, CHIC knows their groove, and even when they’re coasting, they’re coasting in diamond-studded roller skates. It’s not my go-to mood, but I get the appeal
Although this feels a lot like a one-hit wonder sort of band and album, even with the relatively popular single "I want your love" proving that "Le freak" wasn't the only flash in the pan, it's still a modestly fun disco listen (with some driving basslines). I liked it that the rest of the album doesn't sound utterly different from their two singles, but the other songs seem much more appropriate for background listening (especially the instrumentals like "Savoir faire"), and the slower ballad-types tend to drag it all down a bit.
I was surprised we got this and not their album Risque (which I now see is in my future). I enjoy their sound but not sure this album is 1001-worthy.
They don't make 'em like CHIC anymore, everyone's too cool these days, too image conscious. Need more freaks in the music biz.

Expected to like this more than I did, but it got a little samey. The groove is great, though.
This was a pleasant surprise in terms of a listening experience. The expectations per the initial Wiki and the name of the album and band, directed the mind to go into a bog-standard poppy funk. But, it ended up having some highlights like Le Freak, Happy Man and At Last I Am Free which ended up making this a decent listen. I think the start with Cheer was quite weak but picked up from there. I would rate this as a 3.5/5 but bumping it down to a 3.

Has any other mainstream funk/pop album been as influential or referenced? Possibly, but it’s hard to think of what it would be. As fun today as it’s always been, though it suffers retroactively from the Nile Rodger’s Ubiquity Syndrome that means this album’s fingerprints are smeared over far too many artists and tracks.

Un álbum bastante aceptable con un par de grandes hits.
Two standout tracks, Le Freak and I Want Your Love and while the rest of the album contains some polished disco cuts and ballads that will get folks moving I can't say they are that memorable. Difficulty genre to make an album out of but this is a pretty good standard and the playing or Rodgers and Edwards is top notch. Worth a listen.

The music is great. Production values are so high. So many artists have samples from this band that you feel like you’ve heard these songs even if you haven’t before. Overall, a good album, but a bit of pace could be added here and there. Base plods along quite a bit. Not great, but good.
Bernard Edwards is a major bass god, and Nile Rodgers is great at writing the riffs that ride over that rhythm. Chic lived up to their name, with urbane, sophisticated disco funk that continues to inspire musicians and is a foundation of hip hop sampling. None of that really speaks to this *album* though. This is a laboratory of sound and style and rhythm. This is a library of vamps and riffs. The album drags on like a long night at Studio 54. It's fun while it lasts, and you remember bits and pieces, but it's not meant for close concentration.

It's not bad music, just didn’t hold my attention much (that might be my short attention span more than the album).
C’est Chic - CHIC Favourite - Savoir faire / Sometimes You Win Least favourite - At Last I Am Free Sometimes You Win is ripe for sports edits, imagine a a Luka or D Rose edit to that song 🔥 Overall 7.0/10 vibes were nice but it drags towards the ends of some tracks. Feels a little like a whole album of Stevie Wonder ’b’ tracks with some more guitar thrown in if that makes sense, but not in a pejorative way.
This album certainly serves its purpose well. It solid disco music as it’s very easy to dance to and its repetitive nature makes it predictable and reliable which is appreciated, but that also means that it has a tendency to drag if you’re just sitting down and listening to it. I’m not sure it’s something I’d listen to regularly, but I can appreciate it for what it is.
I did not finish it but it seemed to me like high quality background party music. I did not manage to grasp a specific idea or novelty if it was being communicated. Savoire Faire was quire good and unique though. I will keep it for the future when I need a vibe 👍🏻

My second CHIC album. And honestly, it was exactly the same as the first. There really doesn’t need to be two on this list. Nevertheless, it’s a 3 for being listenable.

Liked this better than I thought I would, and it’s more consistent than the other Chic album in that regard. Some of the songs are tedious, and disco ain’t my thing, but this was pretty solid overall. Properly 2.5 stars (would not revisit), but gonna round up for being pleasantly surprised.

Chic again? Screw it. I'm down. I don't actually hate disco as much as others do. Quite the contrary, actually. I happen to enjoy it quite a bit, and C'est Chic is no different. However, I actually happen to prefer this album's followup, Risqué, by a considerable degree. I'm not sure why. I think, on a general level, Risqué is just a more balanced album with more standout elements. C'est Chic is a good blueprint for what a strong disco album can be, and Risqué is the album that utilizes it to its higher potential. Of course, C'est Chic is not without its praiseworthy elements. The songs here are all pretty good, with "Le Freak" being the obvious highlight. The writing here is a bit basic. I think that's what's holding this album back from a higher rating for me. I know music doesn't always have to be super thought-provoking, but this album does kind of feel repetitive in this regard and debatably others. Of course, the musical talent here is still respectable. Obviously, Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers deserve all the praise they can get, but the others provide good stuff. Shoutouts to Luther Vandross just for being here at all. C'est Chic is good, but it's the kind of album that can be improved upon. I know this because it was. High 3/5.
Enjoyed this more than I thought I would.
I want disco-y goodness from Chic, so At Last I Am Free did nothing for me with it's slower vibe and repetitive lyrics. Pretty much everything else I really enjoyed though. Not sure it's an album I'll regularly return to, but Le Freak is such a classic track. I also enjoyed spotting all the song parts that other musicians subsequently sampled. This feels like another occasion I want a 1/2 star option, but as I don't, I'm going for 3/5

I've always been a hard line disco sucks punk fan, and this album doesn't change that. It's full of cheese and the songs aren't always there, but the pocket is undeniable. Nile is a beast of course and the bass lines are huge. It hasn't converted me but I do have huge admiration and respect for the musicianship. More funk less gloss, then it'd be something special.

Disco is not my thing, but this feels like the epitome of it so I respect it.
Classic disco record. Fun, catchy tunes, great production, killer bass and guitars here and there. At the same time, there are repetitive, easily consumable songs that are often longer than they should be.

I think it's easy to forget just how much terrible music was churned out at the height of the world Disco craze in the 1970s. Next to that tsunami of chintz, Chic's attempt to bring a measure of substance to the genre is admirable. Certainly, the contemporary Neo-Disco trend owes a huge debt to Chic for their distinctive vibe and a fairly high standard of musicality. Unfortunately, outside of the legendary and irrepressible energy of "Le Freak", the album suffers from a bad case of forgettable songwriting. Looking back, this may be one of those albums that is more influential than strictly successful on its own merits. The band's rhythm section absolutely slaps, though. Two stars, plus one for "Le Freak".

A tour de force in the art of album unevenness. Runs the gamut from C’est Fantastique to C’est Weak, C’est Tragique and C’est Craptastique. Le Freak and I Want Your Love are two of the pearliest, supreme, pristine and powerhouse disco productions. Simply ace. The Fatman Scoop funk riff on Chic Cheer is also awesome but the actual song it turns into is pretty crappy. Savoire Faire is the most random bit of plain instrumental smooth jazz just to pad out the album a bit more. At Last I Am Free has an amazingly sensual and moody chord progression and vocal performance but with lyrics that basically amount to the title plus “I Can Hardly See In Front Of Me I Can Hardly See In Front Of Me” x1000, it kinda scoots way past its natural span as a song and continues into the distance for an apocalyptically long time. And (Funny) Bone is the crumbliest, lamest most filler way to end an album. So a very mixed bag overall. A few massive diamonds amongst the pig plop.
A fun inclusion today but something that feels more suited to being a dance track than something for your everyday playlists. That nature also made the album feel pretty repetitive over its kinda long runtime

I remember this album from when I was young. Strangely, I found it sounded dated, even at the time. This, the Bee Gees, and the Village People were synonymous with the whole Studio 54/ Disco movement. It was very mainstream at the time.
Thought this was just going to be some random funk/disco album but then HEY I know this song! Pretty fun, and the part of me that once occasionally slapped a bass has to appreciate the rhythm section’s grooves here.
Groovy. Love a lot of the beats and bass work. Man, many of their songs just drag on way too long. Could trim almost 2 min from Le Freak IMO. Maybe I just don’t have the stamina or appreciate that turkeys impressing the ladies with their moves don’t want the beats to stop. I was so excited for (funny) bone because I assumed that was a not-so-subtle innuendo. Gonna have some great lyrics… I was quite disappointed finding out it was an instrumental 😞

I thought this was just going to be a disco album all the way through, so I sniffed a bag of blow, put my roller skates on, and got ready to boogy. Savoir Faire threw me for a loop. Slow jam grooves. Great tune, and my favorite. Overall, the album was ok, with a couple of hit ones. Not enough to push it over the middle. 3.

Disco? Disco. Has a fun melody but tedium begins to set in quickly by the end of Le Freak. Hopefully the rest of the album doesn't sound the same... Ok, Savoir Faire does change up the beat a bit. This song is very Love Boat. Very cool song, actually.

Glad discofunk. Det är ju najs. Men svårt att gå igång på helt. Sköna rytmer, men inte så mycket mer. Funktionell musik, inte riktigt "njuta i hörlurar"-musik. Le Freak är förstås lattjo, men mer på dansgolvet. Extremt lättlyssnat.
No me gusta que los temas sean muy largos. "At Last I Am Free" no me gusta para nada. Sorpresas: "I Want Your Love" y "Sometimes You Win". Muy buenas guitarras rítmicas. Lo que más me gusto fueron algunas partes instrumentales, sobre todo la parte melódica de ciertos instrumentos. Muy buenos arreglos.

I never really understood the hatred dumped on Disco music. It's just an offshoot of R & B and Pop music specifically intended for dancing. I think the loudest voices against it just don't like anything popular simply because it is popular. Or maybe they're just racists who can't dance. Producers like Giorgio Moroder, Nile Rogers, and Bernard Edwards kept the message upbeat and the grooves funky as hell. The bass guitar alone on this album is nothing less than a masterclass. Disco was here for a good time, not a long time.

MAN, I feel like dancing! If you don't feel the need to move your body and shift your feet after hearing the first two tracks, I'm sorry, but you must be dead inside. Like damn baby, I feel bad for you because this music makes the soul feel right. I'll be honest, the vibe does drop off quite a bit after the first two, but this is not to say that the album is bad. Nothing super memorable for me aside from Le Freak, Happy Man, and maybe Sometimes You Win. Give it a listen, though. Ciao!
Alright, a couple of great songs and some filler
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Disco album. Had a few catchy songs. I liked Le Freak, I Want your love, and Happy Man. The rest was alright. Funny bone was kind of annoying with all the stupid laughing, but it had a really good baseline. So I wish the laughing didn’t exist… that is all.

How can you hear "FREAK OUT!" and not smile? Some of the album is disco perfection (crying out to be sampled) and some of it feels like very technically accomplished backing tracks.

I would imagine that this album is on the list just because of Le Freak. It's definitely a standout but the whole album is good. Fantastic guitar and bass throughout, but that's what you'd expect from Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards. Maybe a little too much this-is-the-same-as-the-last-song going on, but it's a good album to have playing in the background while doing other things. The last half kind of falls off for me a little so I'm giving this one a flat 3/5.

Fun bass lines on some songs. Others were dreadfully repetitive, both musically and lyrically. Can't say that's necessarily bad, given that it's dance music, though.
A good blend of rock, dance, and jazz. Instrumentation is really good, but lyrics are so repetitive that they make the music sound repetitive after awhile. Le Freak is the only song I heard from this album before so it was a nice taste of Chic. Not sure I have to dive too deep though. 6/10

Chic was good at what they did, particularly guitarist Nile Rodger and Bernard Edward’s on bass, both of whom were just as legendary in rap remixes/samples as they were in disco. I listened to this album a few months ago as I had found it in a record store and was considering it. There are some classic vibes on here: le Freak; I Want Your Love; Happy Man! These are the songs that made the generation. There are some others that, though played well, lack the same vibe-ability, and get redundant. If I was doing lines off the bar above the neon floor in a polyester suit with my pompadour waving like my pointed fingers hailing the heavenly gods above, this entire album would rock. That’s not the case. Overall, I learned I am a Best of Chic kind of guy. Respect to them for being the best of the genre, just not my preferred genre.
If you want 80’s disco catchy vibes, this is for you! It’s fun but not particularly my vibe besides Savoir Faire. I probably won’t listen to this again but I do acknowledge that it’s good writing for what it is
A mining area for samples to put in your techno music. The funky guitar and bass are pleasant but the lyrics are simple and some songs go on for a bit too long.

Nice variety of music; contains the infamous "le freak". Was not a fan of the first song. I especially like their use of violin, very unique. Many of the songs definitely got me swaying or bopping, but lyrics were often very redundant, which I am not a fan of.
Remember going to a disco in Cherry Hill NJ when ^le freak^ was the hottest dance out there. Good album, but I wouldn't ever think of it when naming "best albums."

I can't tell if this kind of music is aware of its silliness or if disco took itself seriously back then. Because music can be repetitive and the lyrics can be strangely basic. "At Last I am Free" might be the most monotonous song I've ever heard. 7 minutes of the same line being sung over and over in slightly different ways. "(Funny) Bone" was also bizarrely monotonous with the same repeating few measures over and over with little variation.

The groove is strong with this one, though it feels more like a list of singles than a cohesive album, which I guess is a net positive when discussing a disco album designed for radio play. The lyrics are pretty vapid and the vocals aren’t doing much for me either. 3.2/5
I didn't realize how many hits they had
Cool riffs.
This was interesting. In some ways its hard not hear these songs and just assume they're the equivalent of a Microsoft stock screensaver. I've heard some of these songs so much throughout my life that I didn't even realize that a real artist or band even made them. (Chic Cheer, Le Freak, I Want Your Love, Funny Bone.) So when you hear it all the way through, it kind of makes you chuckle. And then on top of that, finding out that the band is called CHIC and they incorporate "chic" into like every song in some way or another is hilarious. It's a little over the top cheesy. In fact, almost every song on this album is cheesy. The fact that in Funny Bone there is a laugh track going on in the background the whole time until you get a weird motivational speech?! Its hard for me to listen to this with fresh ears, but if I tried, I'm hearing a lot of joy and celebration. Its kind of meant to cheesy and fun. Its meant to feel like you're at a house party in the Hampton (doing coke in the bathroom?) or going down to the beach. Which is a fun and I can see what they're going for. It also solidifies why this music shows up everywhere. It's kind of agnostic towards anything besides being very surface level fun. And I guess sometimes humans need that.

Chic have some great singles but not sure they're an albums band, based on this. It's alright but the two hits stand out much more strongly than the fillers and I was a little bored in the last 3 tracks. Love Nile Rodgers' guitar playing though

Have never heard this album before. The best songs on this album still resonate and don't sound dated. It's a lot of fun, and very enjoyable. The quality starts to fall off the last 3 songs, but still a good listen.
I learned (or, at least, was taught) to disco with Le Freak so this song has a special place in my memory.

As with most Chic records, it's hard to not be impressed by how tight the grooves are, but I found there to be a bit of a lack of variety from song to song to really enjoy this beyond that

Unmistakable sound of Niles Rogers written all over it, incredible how the man has strived through the decades making tunes that frankly anyone could get a groove on to. Le Freak & Everybody Dance would be a core ingredient to a proper disco night for all to enjoy. The album bounces along smoothly and nicely for a very easy inoffensive listen.

I like the general vibe and sound of this album, but the tracks suffer from feeling overly repetitive and overly long. It's noticeable right away on "Chic Cheer," which plays like a 4-minute introduction to a song that never actually arrives. I'd still say it seems like a worthy inclusion to the 1,001 list, as a good representative of the disco genre.

Nile Rodgers is a funky man.
It’s not 3 stars but it’s also not 4 stars. I don’t like the limitation of 5 stars and no halves! It was good, funky but nothing amazing.

So disco, disco, disco. But also nice. But not nice enough. But still you can listen to it and smile and think back to former times.
Since there are only a few tracks on this record and it stills clocks in at 42 minutes long, some of them tend to drag. That being said, this was a very fun disco record. Some iconic and danceable grooves throughout, it will surely keep your feet moving the whole time. Notable Tracks: - Le Freak - I Want Your Love 6/10

I liked this well enough. It felt a little repetitive and a little long, which isn’t surprising since it’s disco. “Le Freak” and “I Want Your Love” are great songs, and the instrumentation and vocals are fantastic throughout the whole album. Nile Rodgers is such a talent, and it shows. Overall this album is pretty good, especially for the genre.

Disco is wild. What a time to be alive. I was not thrilled about this, but then instantly recognized the big hit "le freak" on this record. Disco is fine and has a place as long as it's not something you listen to often. This is probably as good as it gets though.
