I have this CD in my collection and I thinks it’s probably Coldplay’s best album. In relistening to it, at first I was meh about about. I didn’t think it aged well. But deeper into the album, it really hits a groove. Lyrically and musically. Definitely worth multiple listens
You could tell that these guys were having a lot of fun making this album. There was a good spirit in the recordings. I think if Jim and the rest of the band were on their game, this would have been a great album to tour on.
A double album is a lot of info. Aside from the hits, “Whale” was the only memorable song on the album. Of course I heard a lot of other influences in here, including The Beatles (obvs) and The Who’s Quadrophenia.
I was reminded of a time when my mom would take me to JC Penney’s for what felt like the whole day (circa 1982) and this album was playing in the background.
