I kinda liked it. Definitely experimental & doesnt fit in with the niche of people that use this - hence why its ratings are so bad. I’ll bet if this was released by Radiohead everyone would be saying how inspired it is

Somehow you take solid-enough 3 star songs and run them for 2 hours, you get a 2 star album. I don't think this one is super meant to be listened to straight through as an album.

Why was this so long, and was the singer supposed to sound off key? It all blended into one long track, and isn't that exciting to me.

Let me be the "n" th person to point out the irony of this being called "Timeless" when it is quite dated sounding. Far too long; cut down to, say 35 mins, this would be much more digestible. I quite like the long opening track, but it all sounds a bit coffee shop these days; odd to think this felt groundbreaking at one point.

Bon, tout le monde a déjà fait la blague, mais tabouère que c'est zéro timeless. Timeless it may be, but drum and bass always was a little too hard for me.

This was cool. There were few moments that I didn't like very much. My favourites were the title track and State of Mind.

I'm not sure I loved this, but it was perfectly fine for focusing at work. Then I got to "adrift" and was so annoyed I felt like throwing furniture. I think this is an album that works well when being slightly understated music that sounds good, but that's really all I see here.

Mostly background music.

This is right up my alley. Yet another album I've been happy to discover on this journey. Timeless is an epic opener, A Sense of Rage, and Angel are other standouts.

Without a doubt this is _the_ coffee table drum & bass album, and I'm pretty sure it was my entry point to the genre, and gateway to the harder stuff. A glorious cinematic sound. Massive props to Diane Charlemagne and Lorna Harris for the beautiful vocals that tie everything together and make it a cohesive listen. Fave track - the "Inner City Life" section of the title track is iconic. "Angel" is awesome. "You and Me" is a great closer....

Drum & Bass / Jungle classic.

Clinical and heavily machined and here-and-there interesting but way out-of-place anywhere but a club (and – let's be clear – a club in the late '90s), plus oh so soulless, indeed soulless to an extent that the ambition and innovation are undercut. Way too long (thanks '90s production excess). Utterly ill-named, too, as this is as dated as dated can be, thanks largely to drum machines. One seriously questions the historical staying power of dnb.

This album is called Timeless, but I think they meant to say “Time, less” as in the less time spent with this, the better! I understand this is a foundational album for jungle/drum’n’bass, but it’s really not my thing. Maybe if I was into Ecstasy…? 2⭐️

What a waste of everyone's time. This is utter shit. Drum and bass is just repetitive noise. Why do people like this? If you want to get a headache, listen to this, or you could run straight into a wall. The outcome will be the same, but at least you'll save yourself over an hour and a half. If I wanted to describe the album positively, I would say track 4 sums it up.

At first I really didn’t like this because it sounded like generic irritating Brit rock the album looped on accident and I found myself enjoying it a lot more for some reason. I’m not even sure what really changed but songs like music when the lights go out were a lot more fun.

I have yet to find a good 20 minute song. And that's because they don't exist.

I wish I could say that my experiences with electronic music over the last 300-some days was entirely good. But most of it has been unfortunately less than positive. It continues to confuse me. Because in all honesty I’m not that hard to please when it comes to that genre. If your songs sound cool, are varied enough, and have solid drum programming, you have me sold. So it’s baffling that almost none have managed to check each of those boxes. I am aware of a good amount of the albums on this list. And I know which ones are much, much longer, including this one. Thankfully I’ve been mostly lucky so far and haven’t had to worry about work when trying to finish those records. Sadly today was not one of those days. I guess an hour and 40 minutes isn’t that long in comparison to some. But it feels like a lot. Especially when you have that 20 minute long monster of an opener. I tried to let the length of it affect my rating as little as possible. And I’ll admit that this isn’t actually the worst thing I’ve ever heard. But it isn’t anything more than okay. I’ll start off by saying that the production here is consistently interesting and doesn’t feel completely lifeless throughout. I’m also not traditionally a fan of singing in this style of music. But there is enough room left for the rest of the music that makes the vocals feel worthwhile. They aren’t completely overwhelming the whole song for once. But most, if not all songs on this album are plagued by the same issue. Every small section of music I enjoy listening to is surrounded by something far more monotonous. I don’t have the desire or energy to force myself through 5 minutes of an 8 minute long song to get to the 3 minutes of it I like at the end. That’s not what I listen to music for. But like I said, not all of these songs are horrible. I wouldn’t actually classify anything on this as objectively trash. Much of it is just incredibly below average. And for its length, I couldn’t recommend it to someone. Most people don’t have the patience for 100 minutes of music, let alone 60. Rating: 5/10

I think my productivity at work was 14% higher while listening to this album. Can’t say I’d go seek this one out again to put on, but it was cool for what it was. 4/5

Just another day with another British electronic album. Despite the length, at least this one has an upbeat that was enjoyable. I'm still harsh with electronic, even learning to respect it during this 1001 challenge, but this type of drum and bass looks like a good style for me.

Gave this a couple of listens over a couple of weeks. Good to see this music presented on here. I think this album hasn't aged amazingly (album cover especially so!), but you can really see something here. At the time I'd have loved it I reckon. Elements of other stuff I like in here - early Squarepusher etc. Arguably drags on too long but if you go into knowing itll be a bit of a slog it negates the taxing element. 3.5*

Thought I'd be raving about this, it's got some of my favourite tracks on it. But the more I listened and thought about it, this isn't really an album. The stories behind much of its inception are the stories of someone starting their career and giving birth to a new genre of music. That's exciting, and there's some great music to show for it, but this album just circles around the same ideas over an over again. Timeless is clearly an EP in one track and has been padded out with more additional material, but because it was all quite new nobody knew where to cut it off and be done. That's my impression anyway, loosely based on some accounts from interviews I've heard over the years.

A great, varied DnB album. Probably too much on the light and vocal stuff for my tastes, but it didn't feel as long as it's 2 discs should, and that's a great sign!

I was upset with this album when I first started listening to it because it took about 15 seconds for there to be music and then, the first track didn’t grab me. I stopped listening at that point and was chatting with Nikole and thought that I would probably rate this about a 2. I dove back in later in the day and it was magical. I was driving and stuck in traffic so I wasn’t sure if I really liked it or it was just the circumstances, but then I got home and continued listening to the album while taking a walk and it was still great. So, this album has gone from my 2 to 4 all in the span of 10 hours.

I can hear the meticulous effort and time that went into this recording. My recurring thought as I listened is that it would drive me completely insane to have to listen to this over and over and over in a studio to get all the details together. I've said it before, but to whomever this music speaks, good on you. It's little more than annoying noise to me. I'm past the point of trying to hear it any differently.

Totally dug this spending a couple hours cooking in the kitchen. Would I add this to the list? No. Did I bookmark for work background music? Yes.

1.0 - My god....torture For me there is so much to dislike with this album. The songs are just so boring and don't go anywhere. Scene music, riding on the coat tails of nostalgia. There are worse albums I've come across on this list so far, but this really just annoyed me

I thought I wasn’t going to enjoy this. I waited until the evening to listen as it just didn’t feel like the daytime would appreciate it. But it was pretty great. All felt very similar, and way too long, but definitely a case of finding a winning formula and just rolling with it. 4.4/5

This Is a Bad

Timeless? More like TimeMORE! On account of how long the opening track is! [or] Timeless? More like 1995! Haha we like to laugh, but seriously, good god. I think it’s really important to hold the idea that most all kinds of art have an artfulness to them even if I don’t understand it. On the other hand, when I was a boy I had a PS1 demo disk that included a demo for a game called MTV Music Generator. It was basically a crude looping station, with built in samples. This album sounds indistinguishable from something a 12 year old me would have made on there, and again… I only had the demo, with a limited set of samples. And it was the PS1! That game probably came out less than 3 years after this album did. Come on! A guy does not need to hear this before he dies.

If this album was 45 minutes long, I might well be lording this as one of the great finds of this project. It would have really resonated with me. But this feeling soon passes by and makes you feel like you’re stuck on a really frustrating level on a PS1 game - some sort of secret underground room in Metal Gear Solid. It just goes from great to frustrating 2.4

I've come across this before on another chart- it's a good representative of the genre. Easy to listen to and chill.

More tiresome techno, although i guess it's techniquely 'drums n bass' as he uses some different sounds on his computer than pure techno...". Overly repetitive, too long, could really use some vocals to keep up some interest. It could almost pass as ok chill music, but the drumns n bass aren't really chill.

Like a lot of the other reviewers, I think your enjoyment of this is based on context. The less formulaic stuff sounds great while riding the exercise bike, for instance. But for me EDM with vocals can be grating if not done correctly though. And it is apparently really hard to do correctly. There's a jarring dissonance between the structured artificiality of the synth and a human voice. It feels like a cop-out every time I hear something like this with a female soul singer layered on top. It's like the artist has some idea about "dance music" and throws the vocals on. Gives it more soul? In theory this should be brilliant but there's a competition for attention, and eventually the lack of focus is annoying.

Even though I'm not a fan of electronic music, I enjoyed this.

I was pleasantly surprised at this album, as it was calming enough to listen to while I worked, but I think it is much too long, and it felt mostly the same in many parts. I think that with one or two songs to break some of the "sameness" and a cut of 20 minutes or so, it could be much better, but nothing much stood out to me enough to give it more than a "good" rating.

I appreciate that Goldie has taken the genre of drum n Base and elevated it with vocals and instrumentation but I will not be revisiting this album as I find it a little tricky to enjoy.

Having just had a drum and bass album with Roni Size a couple of weeks ago, this enraged me that it was on the list. I didn't enjoy that one, and this one, being far less interesting, just made me super super annoyed that I was expected to endure two hours of it. Where's Linda Ronstadt in this project for fuck's sake?

I actually was enjoying much of this album...for like the first 45 minutes. Then it suddenly made me feel like I had been standing in at the check-in desk at the Cosmo in Las Vegas for an hour and I started to get a bit irritated. (Can we please get a couple more check-in hosts out here to get this line moving???)

I don't want to yuck anyone's yum and I can accept that I'm just not the audience for this BUT I can see why one song that sounds like this is cool. But a whole album? A double album? An entire genre? I don't get drum and bass. What am I missing? Drugs? Is it drugs? It's drugs, isn't it?

This was mostly ok for me. Reminds me of my days running the board at a radio station on Sunday mornings when I would insert ads into the breaks of a new age show. While it wasn’t terrible to have on in the background for a lot of it, there were parts that really did start to wear on my nerves. But only when I was paying closer attention.

The title track is good but like everything else, at least twice as long as it needed to. The rest, that I could bear is self-indulgent twaddle.

Every 1 rating at the top of the reviews section is by elitist dickheads who think hating on anything sufficiently 'low-brow' constitutes a personality. This site is rife with them and it is exhausting seeing their boorish opinions every weekday. Be cool and embrace finding the joy in things. Anyway, this is decent stuff. There's a weird dichotomy with good drum and bass, with good jungle, where you know it's both music ideal for heaving masses of bodies moving with the beat, breathlessly, often chaotically, and also music you can totally chill out to, laid out in the sun, absorbing energy like a particularly cool lizard. I don't know if it's the smooth brass, the dolphin chatter, or the smooth vocals that sneak in here and there, but this fills the latter slot perfectly. Like if you ever want to vibe for two hours, this is the record. That said, two hours. You could have just had twenty minute opener Timeless, twelve minute tune Sea of Tears, and close out with eight and a half minutes of Adrift and it'd be plenty. A perfect record, even. Two hours is the textbook definition of outstaying its welcome, and I'd forgive people for not having the patience for it. For me, though? Banger, four stars. .... maybe I'd keep You and Me on it, as well.

This was a weird listen, drum and bass in broad daylight while sitting at my desk in my office. It was good, and it's music I genuinely love. Couldn't contain the head bopping when the beats kicked in. But the length and the long ambient interludes weren't really working for me. 3.5, rounded up for breakbeats.

I really really liked the sound of this! It was exciting, it made me feel productive, it reminded me a lot of music that I listen to outside of this project. Unfortunately every song went on for at least double the length it needed to be, which made everything feel super repetitive. There was no need for this album to be an hour and 53 minutes. It could've been less than an hour and still fit everything in, and I think it would've been a stronger album with less repetition! Today I learned I like drum and bass music.

Man, what a bit of a disappointment. Loved the album cover, loved the Wikipedia description, OK, i thought, this would be an ace discovery for my music collection, but it just didn't land for me. Neither did other albums of Goldies. I listened around. Hopeful. I was dreaming for an artist a bit more like Massive or Big Audio Dynamite, and this wasn't that. Disappointed. 2 stars. Not hated, not liked..

love me some DnB

I liked it. I’m not very knowledgeable on drum and bass music and I’d never heard of Goldie, but I found it pretty captivating at times. The rhythms are great as one would hope in a drum and bass record, but it’s also very melodic and musically diverse at times as well. The tracks are long and it’s a style that will probably turn off many, but I love listening to this kind of music while doing things like running, working, or cooking. Quite enjoyable.

The fact that this was my final boss battle to fully catch back up with the list was absolutely sickening. BA DUM BA DUM BA DUM DUM BUM BA DUM. I don’t even know the proper verbiage to use to explain the noises that filled my ears. But those kicks all sounding super similar on every song was so aids man. Honestly if I was playing need for speed or something this album might slap. Or maybe Tokyo at night. What am I doing with my life right now?

I am being transported to another dimension here. I just finished reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and this album feels like that book, so unique and random. It is very kenny G in the second half. Not so much DNB its so soulful and jazzy which weirds me out. The second half is more trance with light light DNB elements it just is ambieance. Not that fun and a little droney. I enjoyed the expereince as much as one enjoys hearing car traffic not much but gives a sense of perspective. When you ask me to be patient and nothing happens I feel worse listening and it doesnt help that the songs kept stopping because wifi is bad.

I tried, but I couldn't even get through half of it. The vocals are terrible (luckily they aren't always present), and the absolute excessive runtime for a drum and bass album is tough to swallow. It's not that the individual songs are bad, it just that the album as presented doesn't need to exist.

I tried with this one, and I have NO DOUBT it was as influential as it claims to be, but listening to this now, nearly thirty years later, all I can think of is "this album looks like an WinAmp skin and sounds like the kind of music a WinAmp skin would make if it could make music."

"Oh, no, it sounds alright, mate, but it sounds a bit like Goldie." This quote says it all really. But let me add... I was surprised how repetitive this was. And so long! 1hour 53 minutes!? I know quite a few tracks without having listened to the album before. I guess it was everywhere at the time. It's okay as background music, I guess, but it's a bit boring. I'm marking it down from a 3 to a 2 just because I can't really see myself listening to it again.

More mellow than I remembered it… personal preference is the more abrasive artists in the genre but there is no denying the impact this album had at the time…

The classic D&B sound: deep bass grooves combined with rapid fire drum machine programming, synth parts for texture and mood, then diva-style vocal singing/samples strung across the top to give it a center. Was this album making or just mainstreaming this template? Despite the kind of spasmy herky jerky feel of the rhythms, it does work incredibly well as a tune everything else out and focus on some bullshit kind of functional music, though it adds a layer of ambient stress to the focus. Not sure it needed to be two hours long though, JFC! It's called Timeless, but it is incredibly of its moment. Interesting that this era of Jungle, Drum & Bass, House and electronica in general had a much more widespread presence in UK pop than in the US, where it seemed relegated to clubs rather than radio...or maybe it just passed my suburban existence by...

Drum and bass, not exactly my kind of jam. Angel and State of Mind were decent tracks, the rest was just 'there'. And boy, did the album go on and on and on and on! Okay background music while working, but nothing I would put on just to listen to.

I cant tell these types of albums apart. Drum and bass and UK Electronica both sound lazy and repetitive to me but I recognize I just dont have the ear for it. This one in particular just drags. More than once I would tune out and tune back in and wonder if it was the same song or something new.

Jungle is massive. Goldie mixes things up with an epic double album of drumnbass. I prefer the instrumental tracks generally as I always find the vocals to dnb a tad cheesy. It's a long listen, and probably could've done with some editing. Best Tracks: Timeless; This is a Bad; Sea of Tears

This might not be very gangsta for you Goldie but this was a great album to do the ironing to. It’s just too long. I’ve only got an hour of ironing to do, not two hours.

This was like a good brisket with an enormous fat cap you have to trim before you get to enjoy the meat of it. That opening long track was more endless than timeless. And I was ready to dismiss it. But the good non-experimental stuff was really enjoyable. I’d come back to everything except that stuff at the beginning.

I go into each album with an open mind and always give them a shot, even if I can tell it's not going to be my thing. I finally found myself wanting to skip ahead, thinking that I must be a decent way through the album by this point, BUT IT WAS STILL THE FIRST SONG. I love me some 90s electronica and trip hop and can appreciate the trailblazing aspect of an album like this, but having just seen that the album runs nearly two hours in length, I don't think I will be listening to the whole thing.

Enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to. I knew Timeless and Inner City Life but I've never gone out of my way to listen to Goldie. Really enjoyed it as chilled background music. Think it might be a bit too pedestrian for me to want to listen to it as more than background music but a pleasant surprise.

Ik ben fan van drum n bass, maar een album van 2 uur uit 1995 zou zomaar teleurstelling kunnen opleveren. Desondanks ben ik verrast dat zo'n album er in staat. Na 4 tracks (het klinkt niet veel, maar in dit geval is dat 41 minuten) heb ik alleen wat we tegenwoordig denk ik liquid zouden noemen gehoord, een drum n bass subgenre waar ik wat minder mee heb. Het klinkt als een raamwerk (of skelet) van iets waar ik later veel plezier aan heb beleefd. Aangezien ik nog een uur en 10 minuten moet hoop ik dat we zometeen wisselen naar wat actievere dnb anders vind ik dit wel heel langdradig. Track 7, een remix van iemand anders, is eigenlijk de eerste track die ik leuk vind. Als ik goed tel heb ik er dan al een uur op zitten. Als ik denk aan oude drum and bass dan denk ik aan Konflict - Messiah en Dj Krust - Warhead. Dit komt daar nog ver voor en is voor mij helaas te oud. Het is qua lengte veel, qua inhoud weinig. Ik vind dit niet super geslaagd. Het kan altijd erger en op de achtergrond is er weinig mis mee. Als ik dit actief ga zitten luisteren is het wel echt veel te lang. Ik doe niet aan punten voor culturele relevantie of puur voor het feit dat Goldie een grondlegger is. Ik kan niet hoger geven dan een 2.

What a silly album. The drums were great, but the rest was bleh at best. Makes the drumming seem less than when the rest of the parts aren't great. Just not something you would choose to put on in the background or to listen to actively.

This is a banger and right up my street. I love dnb and seeing one of the founding albums of the genre here fills my heart with joy. I played it in the car and my 7 year old loved it as well so thumbs up all round.

His first album is a DOUBLE album? Two albums of this? And every song just goes on and on and on. Some of them have obvious breaks in them which I guess you can call movements. But I shouldn't look at a song and think "10 minutes?!". It shouldn't be a chore. The music itself is okay, but every song just went on WAY too long and was way too repetitive. Next.

No, no, no. Almost 2 hours of "drum and bass". That's a bit much. He should've stopped after disc one, which was already about an hour. It's not the worst thing I've ever heard, but I don't need 2 hours of it. And honestly, after a few songs I was kind of done with it because it just felt like the same thing over and over. I had to quit the double album version after 10 of 14 songs. And the only reason my rating isn't lower is because the single album version has 4 fewer songs and I might've made it through that one.

Big swing, naming your album Timeless. Not sure if the name exactly fits, since it does still sound sort of futuristic, but in a 90's/00's way. Definitely not something I would have chosen to listen to on my own, but not horrible. Kind of a good background for doing work that requires some focus, but not a lot of deep thinking. I could see myself coming back to some of these tracks for long runs or coding sessions.

If this was half the length I wouldn't have minded. But at close to two hours I need more than these beats. I saw one review that said this was the type of music Jez and Super Hans were making on Peep Show which cracked me up. Peep Show has some funny moments.

It's on the minimal side; has some features of electronic I enjoy, but not breaking into favorite album territory. I couldn't believe how long the first track went on for, and every track thereafter. I generally enjoy this type of music, but this just went on too long. Again, not a 1001 thing you should listen to before you die, not missing anything by not listening to this. 2* Skipped the last 2 edit tracks in the end, I was done. Daft Punk's 'Around the world' is less repetitive than this.

Timeless is the debut album by British electronic musician Goldie. It was a groundbreaking release for drum and bass music because the album achieved a high amount of popularity. The album released at the height of the UK rave scene during the 90's and featured jungle music, which is EDM characterized by breakbeats, percussive loops & basslines, and sound samples from pop culture. This is a wonderful album containing pre-golden age EDM. It's fun to listen to and features great backing tracks for any occasion.

I’m on vacation. I’m still trying to listen to my albums. But this was not my cup of tea at all. And, oof, so long. I stopped listening after the third song.

I looked at his bio on Spotify because I wanted to know what type of music this was. It seems to be EDM-y in some spots and then a bit jazzy (?) in others especially with some of the vocals. It appeared he made some sort of breakout and that makes sense because this is like nothing I’ve ever heard before.

Good god for something called Timeless it sure took up a lot of my time. This isn’t music, it’s background noise, and listening to two hours of it was not doing any justice. Genuinely such a long drawn out boring album.

I like drum and bass breaks. For about 8 measures. Not 21 minutes. In the first track. Slightly exaggerating here, but only slightly. I like a bit of trance music - it has a definite place in terms of either working/studying/concentration on something. Take out the very very distracting and monolithic drum assault and it's nearly indistinguishable from many space station videos I'll put on to relax to. In the background. The harsh and repetitive drum breaks sound interesting for a bit - yeah, 8 measures or so - until they completely reverse gears and are just irritating at best - devoid of dynamics, utter chaos in their glitchy breakdowns. Come on. I'm not going to encroach on any "this isn't music" diatribe because it most certainly is, but it really is confined to a narrow focus and honestly I don't get the hype - even if I *do* occasionally listen to music LIKE this on the fringes. It's more a testament to the dedication of "Goldie" (not their real name you're not fooling anyone *Clifford*....) on assembling all these pieces (although I'm not sure how it was done in 1995). Good on ya. Yay. But it all comes across as excessively self-indulgent without any sense of awareness at all. This genre was gonna be dicey anyways but this particular album is not even close to enjoyable at all and frankly mostly terrible - also not advised for those who drift towards the occasional migraine. 2/10 1 star.

If I could give it less than 1 star I would.

Nowadays we all know Goldie best for racing Brian Blessed down Rainbow Road on Hoovers whilst huffing white cider (google it), or being hilariously bad in Bond films. It's easy to forget then that he popularised drum n bass and he was actually pretty good for a bit. There's a reason he entered the popular culture and it's not entirely down to his teeth. Didn't really know any of his stuff, but recognise the first track and yep, that's bang on for me, 20 minutes of developing beats around a strong hook, count me in. Dunno if this is what Flight of the Conchords are lampooning with Inner City Pressure but that's another fun tick. Like many people with ears in the late 90s, I went through a huge dance phase around that time, and a housemate was constantly playing some really great psychedelic trance and drum n bass. I was also well into my Northern Exposure etc. So stuff like Sea of Tears while it may be dated (it's nearly 30 years old - eek), harks back to those times and is welcome. Adding a few of these to my Working/Flow playlist as they're the shit for that. No way I've got time for 2 hour long album today, I've got to go out and look at a massive Lego exhibition, but this has done enough in the first half to earn a decent score.

i can't do drum and bass.

This album surprised me, although not timeless, it's pretty decent (it's definitely stuck in the 90's). Good beats, good mix of sounds, good ambients. I liked the female vocals too. However, a lot of the songs are repetitive with no real standouts. It was good as background music while working.

I love electronica and got into it in early high school with Chemical Bros and Crystal Method. Bought a lot of mix cds too and my least favorite of the genre was always the break beat. Too spastic and so repetitive. Others like house or trance have the same beat for almost every song but meld better with the whole delivery. Break beat sounds too out of place. Just never been my fav.

I would consider myself a passive fan of electronic music but I've never heard of Goldie. A mix of groovy beats and sensual electronica. I was pleasantly surprised by this album as I didn't know what to expect going in. Reminded me of Aphex Twin, Oakenfold and others. It's way longer than it needs to be and starts to feel a little redundant, but I found myself enjoying the majority of it. 2.3 stars

doesn't quite reach the depths of kraftwerk but I only barely didn't hate this

It worked really well as an album while I was doing some monotonous work, the drums keep it ticking along. On a more focused listen, it's not my favortie but I don't have the best ear for all the intricate differences in the drum beat song-to-song. My favorite here was Inner City Life (Baby Boy's edit).

This wasn't terrible, but it all felt the same.

I like this a lot, though I am a sucker for DnB.

Very nice, not my favorite genre but I still loved the vocal mix on timeless, and the quirky, high end synths scattered throughout. Can see the influence on modern techno/breaks. Reminds me of a lot of eris drew.

One of the finest artists and producers the UK gave to the world. Are some of the tracks overlong? Yes, but the depth and experimentation deliver magnificently. I met Goldie at a house party back in the day. He's an absolute gentleman.

Some pretty solid drum n' bass, all things considered. Perhaps a bit boring and overlong to some, but I found some enjoyment. Very well-produced on the whole.

Between this and the LTJ Burkem compilation I got a few days ago, I've come to the realization that I just don't like jungle or drum n' bass. Sure, I can recognize merits in the genres and figure why people would like them, but for me... Nah. Not me. I mean, it just says something to me that the only track I really liked and devoted a good portion of my attention to was the third track from the first disc, which was the only one to me that didn't sound like drum n' bass. (It's for that reason, in fact, why I'm not recycling the review I gave for LOGICAL PROGRESSION like I'd honestly planned to. Believe me, though, with that **TWENTY MINUTE** nothing of a title track and opener I very easily could have.) End of the day, I just hope there aren't too many of these left on the list, if there are even anymore at all.

Completely competent drum and bass that I listened to while doing my morning routine. Just a 2.

Wow. This was a tough one to listen through. 2 hours of a genre that I do not really like. But: I tried! I sat through it. Don't judge it by its shitty cover I said to myself. But it didn't catch me at all. I found it rather boring and uninspired. Plus, extra annoying, the unnecessary long tracks. It actually did feel like torture after a while. At least parts of it could be played in an elevator, which is not a compliment. Might be important for the genre but it just isn't good in my opinion, sorry.

Couple of decent-ish tracks but as someone who really likes some Dn'B , I dont understand the legendary status of this record. Also, Goldie is a horrible human being.

I can't believe I spent almost 2 hours of my life listening to this.

I went away to college and came home one break to discover a friend got into drum and bass during his first semester. We were rock and rap fans, so when I first heard musicians like Goldie and LTJ Bukem I was lost. Now all these years later these late 90s drum and bass albums make me nostalgic for that time, and I have a better understanding of the genre.

Era of ecstasy you needed to be on it to get it…I guess 2/5

Took me a while to click Goldie is the same Goldie who was a bit of a Z list celebrity back in the 00’s, shocked he actually had an album that made the list. After listening to the album, I’m still shocked this album is on the list.
