Reviews (page 6 of 8)
fine
Not my thing but it’s classic for a reason. A very solid album
It's all big mouth, tight trousers, rock n' roll and SHARK fish fucking toddlers in placcy pools. Did Quaylo say the same? Bet he did.
It's better than the other Aerosmith album I got, I guess
Does what it says on the tin.
Good but I've heard them all a thousand times
Nokkur ágætis rokklög þarna en ég get ekki hætt að hugsa um 16 ára Julia Holcomb. Steven Tyler var ógeðslegur. Veit ekkert hvernig staðan á honum er í dag, en hann var allavega ógeðslegur.
3.5 - Good as background music at your favorite dive bar. Inoffensive hard rock with some tasty guitar licks here and there.
I don't super like Aerosmith and this one fell flat for me.
I had forgotten that everybody needs a bit of Aerosmith in their lives. Greg Prato of AllMusic called Rocks "raw and rocking" not sure I can improve on that.
The first three songs not only rock, but draw from different styles. If you were to compare these guys to the mid seventies competition, ACDC, Van Halen, Kiss, Aerosmith is more creative and less commercial. Steven Tyler is annoying but he delivers the goods, especially on a song like Back in the Saddle and Joe Perry is the kind of guitar you want in a band like this. These songs sounded more familiar than I thought they would. Hmmmm.....
Aerosmith is a solid hard/blues rock band. Their music is tight and clear. However the lyrics are really not the best and they don’t really bring anything to the table in terms of innovation. They are just simply ok. They seem perfectly content with cruising in the shadow of better hard rock bands.
At their best when they add a bit of funk, blues and swing to their hard rock template and ‘Rocks’ delivers this in spades with songs like opener ‘Back In The Saddle’, ‘Last Child’ and ‘Get The Lead Out’. There are a couple of missteps though: ‘Nobody’s Fault’ and ‘Combination’ come across as filler, but overall ‘Rocks’ is generally a good time full of cocksure swagger and hard rocking licks.
Not bad. I think some of there other albums are better
This is Aerosmith at their best? Fave: Maybe Last Child
Pretty decent guitar rock. Nothing super special about, but I enjoyed the play through.
Wasn't bad as I was expecting. Some songs were even maybe good? The faster-paced songs were pretty good, like Rats in the Cellar. Get the Lead Out was also decent. Lick and a Promise was also decent. Overall, I'd rather be listening to another band like Led Zeppelin though. 3/5
Not the Aerosmith album I would have first thought about, honestly. Doesn't really have any standout singles but it has some good deeper cuts. Rats in the Cellar and Nobody's Fault are standout songs.
Perfectly average
Seeeeeeeeeeeh, el old school Aerosmith que le gusta al pueblo rockeroooooo
Enjoyable
Fine while I was listening but not a lot of staying power. Perhaps one of those "you had to be there" albums.
Rock'n'roll décent Prefs: Back in the Saddle, Rats in the Cellar, Sick as a Dog, Nobody's fault, Lick and a Promise Moins pref: Last Child
Aerosmith‘a 4th and influential album. Classic 70s rock. Bit before my time, not really my thing but ok…
Wel prima, maar is wel erg uitgekauwd
dad rock again
I quite Aerosmith, but this wasn't very inspiring
Wasn't that excited.
Some relatively generic Rocks
Steady rock. Not quite as flamboyant or emotional as their later work
Aerosmith’s cute every once in a while, but kind of wear on me during the course of an entire album
After going to Disney, this is a great album to listen to. They have their own rock and roller coaster ride that we did twice and it was great. This album isn't one of my favorites, but has some classics on there like back in the saddle. Forever, Aerosmith will remind me of their guitar hero game.
Not my favorite from Aerosmith, but still a really good album. I enjoy their music in general so this is a good time. A couple recognizable hits and some solid deep cuts. Can't wait for Toys in the Attic to pop up on here. Favorite tracks: Sick as a Dog, Last Child, Rats in the Cellar. Album art: I've always liked this one. Simple and effective. I got a ton of them diamonds too. 3.5/5
shockingly short pretty much what you expect
Solid rock and blues. Didn't know how funky Aerosmith could get though also
It's got that classic Aerosmith sound, but I preferred Toys in the Attic better. This one ran together a little bit on first listen unfortunately.
I haven't listened to any Aerosmith from this early in their career before, I don't think. Eh, it was ok. I didn't find anything objectionable, but then my attention also seemed to completely slide off it. Took three listens to pick out a fave track, and even then my impressions remain indistinct... Fave track - "Nobody's Fault", I guess...
part glam, part hard rock, lots of stringy 80s guitar riffs. in one ear and out the other
rocks music
Malo prežestoko for me ali dobri su
Solid riffs but don’t think I’d keep coming back to it.
i suspect, but cannot prove, that the time most people first encounter aerosmith is around 7th or 8th grade. this is kind of perfect, because for the most part their music has about an 8th grade mentality - very fitting. i knew a couple of these tracks because they showed up on their greatest hits - which i discovered in, of course, about 7th grade. i can see why the others weren't included - they're, y'know, fine, they just don't really stand out all that much. overall, i'm just glad this was a quick album
Solid rock album. Have always enjoyed Aerosmith's more famous songs, but the filler works decently well. 3.5/5
Solid Rock and Roll. No stand out songs.
Some bedrock classic rock in this one. Deeper cuts don't add a lot though.
It’s okay. Better on the second listen, but they have better albums.
Not my vibe
A real 70s hard rock classic. The Back in the Saddle to Last Child opening is a throwback to the sleazy bluesy hard rock of that era.
Enjoyable enough
Enjoyable 70s rock guitar, but the strongest songs are all on the original Greatest Hits album
Having a gaslighting nonce front your band doesn't help, but the album itself is ok-ish I suppose.
Sounds exactly like I expected an Aerosmith album to sound. Heavy-ish guitars, harmonies, non specific lyrics about girls and life. Neither offensive but interesting to me.
I'm more familiar with 80s/90s Aerosmith, less familiar with this album. It was alright, digging the guitars!
Fairly timeless boogie rock with a hard edge, but not heavy like Deep Purple, Sabbath, etc.
Enjoyed 80s rock
Not my thing glamrock
Classic Aerosmith, not their best album but I'd guarantee this album is on the list solely because of 'Back in the Saddle' which is one of their best songs. 3.5
Swaaaaaaaaag!
2nd Listen. Pretty damn classic. 3/5
Great to hear their sound emerging
Classic greasy 'n' sleazy tracks from Aerosmith. These guys are like the original blueprint for Guns 'n' Roses
Much better than I expected and flows well together
Ok. Quite samey...
Geen overtuigend album. Weinig uitschieters, maar wel oké
Bueno a secas
Classic from high school
Good album, but doesn't sound different than other big hard rock bands of the time tbh
I don't know if it's just a bad day, but I believe that I prefer much more the first albums of Aerosmith. This one is fine, but just it.
Dad rock defined.
I got a lot of guns and roses and even some nirvana vibes from this album. It’s not the most memorable rock album I’ve ever heard and it has a couple stand out songs. Always hated back in the saddle though. Fav song: sick as a dog
It's entertaining, not as many bops as 'pump' though
It's just such dad rock... Not bad, though.
A couple of classics, the rest are fairly new to me. Old Aerosmith is always the best. 3/5 for now. I am sure this will be 4/5 when I get to know it better.
It was ok. Not very memorable tbh.
It was ok. 2.5
3.5/5 i'll have to relisten to judge it.
3. Good quality Aerosmith when it was still more raw rock n roll.
This will be a tough putt, since I absolutely despise Aerosmith's late 80's/early '90's output so much that it compels me to take a pass on their entire catalog. The first 2 songs here are classics, especially Back In The Saddle. That song alone takes this from a 2.5 to a 3. Hey, I like this A LOT more than Bon Jovi!
Too relentlessly "rockin'" for my tastes. I'm not an Aerosmith fan, but I do have respect for their earlier material. But of their early album I think this is my least favorite. 3 🌟
Good to go back and remember when Aerosmith were a proper hard rock band. Having said that I do think this is a bit overrated although I'm sure it would have been great to hear live (if they were sober enough!)
Not Aerosmith’s most complete album. Between Steven Tyler’s howling and the whammy bar this album left a bit on the table after the first song which was solid. 6.0/10
Meh
Good classic rock album. Nice blend of hard rock and softer ballads.
Good, I like old Aerosmith
It happened
Eh, it's Aerosmith. they are just okay to me
This music is driven by the instruments rather than the vocals. Nothing really clever there; dream on and don't want to miss a thing were more pleasing
Just a mediocre rock album. 7.0/10
okay album. Of course I'm nostalgic whenever I hear back in the saddle. 3
It was fine. Typical Aerosmith
Me sorprende el sonido que tienen para ser los 70, más que nada porque yo lo asociaba a los años 80, aunque en realidad no se si sea un sonido original o no para esos tiempos.
The shadow of "Toys in the Attic" still loomed large, but Aerosmith found a good sound with their blend of blues and honky tonk as instrumentals too over even more of this album.
Desatados riffs que se alejan bastante de la imagen de heavys baladeros que ha perdurado. Sin ninguna canción memorable pero con grandes desarrollos de guitarras.
You can't not like Aerosmith. This is rather good, doesn't sound at all aged. These guys are fun, always, and this album is fun.
Great vibe, consistent, enjoyed it, can't believe it was made in 1976 - appetite for destruction came out in 1987? Loads of GnR influence in there!
Heavier than I was expecting, which is good obviously. It's quite sleazy too, can imagine it playing in an American dive bar. I liked it as a whole album although there weren't really any standout tracks or megahits. Not surprised in the slightest that it influenced Guns n Roses and Motley Crue. 7/10
Intro to Back in the Saddle is a great hype for the album, everything else was solid but nothing spectacular
much better than i thought it would be. first 2 songs are great.
Radio is cool
A classic rock album you can't go wrong with
Dos o tres vueltas y no me enganchó. Back in the Saddle y Sick as a Dog son las mejores pero en general se me hizo muy equis el disco. Vaya, está bien y hasta ahí.
Not a big Aerosmith fan but this has some hits.
Totally fine Aerosmith record.
Good rock
Pretty gewd
Often satisfying guitar parts, but overall hit or miss.
false
Definitely a snapshot of the state of pop rock in that era.
meh
Good
Hård rock, elguitar riffs, svingende, flamboyant
Never been a huge Aerosmith fan. Some decent tracks, a lot of bluesy stuff, but just not totally up my alley.
I liked the guitars but the songwriting itself was just okay for me.
This is a rock album, and it doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not. I found myself a little annoyed by Tyler's voice, and none of the songs gave me anything to write home about. However, I have a soft spot for this era of music and can understand its appeal. I did appreciate the tasteful use of piano in the closing track. I wish touches like that were more common: They are reminders that there's no need to separate pop appeal from musical attention. Of course, respect for tradition is not an inherent virtue in my account; But Aerosmith is far from avant-garde and I'm rambling now.
Not my favorite rock band
Listens: 2 Standout Tracks: Back In the Saddle, Sick as a Dog Dreadfully boring generic rock music. I don't really have much else to say about the matter. Thankfully its short.
Það stóð að platan væri 34 mínútur að lengd. Felt like 64 mín, am I right?!?
They rock, but at what price...
4/10
Early rock is less heavy? Nice bit of harmonica?
I remember liking this more than I actually did.
not bad
Not one song I'd care to hear again
Aerosmith has some great songs but none of them were on this album. I often see people complaining about over representation of certain bands on this list but this one isn’t mentioned but should be. This is my first Aerosmith album but just the fact that this one is on it has to mean at least Get a Grip and one of the albums with their 70s if not more and that seems like too much Aerosmith representation.
I went through a bit of a Aerosmith singles phase in my musical discovery path and the more I delved in the more I noticed it wasn't my thing. Maybe blues rock isn't my thing. Back in the Saddle is a fun song and that's about it. All the macho bravado that was the main attraction of this style of hard rock is very repetitive to my ear, not much creativity going on throughout the album. It's a solid listen if this is what you are looking for, but maybe I'll find an album more to my likeing later on.
Was expecting minds numbing boomer classic rock and was pleasantly surprised by some nice playing and grooves, still didn’t like it very much
Like Aerosmith but this album didn’t really do it for me
A solid rock record but nothing special. I like a few songs but I won’t be revisiting this any time soon
Mildly interesting hard rock that doesn't aim particularly high, distinguished only by the standout cut "Back In The Saddle".
34 minutes and this was still a drag.
this album gives me a headache,
ніби і не слухала за цією писаниною
Highlights: Back in the Saddle, Last Child, Rats in the Cellar, Lick and a Promise
Mad to think this kind of music is 50 years old. The first half was pretty solid. The second half was just dull filler. 2.5 rounded down because Aerosmith are a bit bollocks as a whole and this is their fourth album included here I think.
Ничего оригинального не услышал
Just doesn’t hit the same way today
Sure. 4/10
ROCKS? nah son nah
Meh
not for me.
A bit meh, hey?
Didn’t expect to like this and also I didn’t. In year 8 science we watched a documentary and they stuck a camera down Steve Tyler’s throat while he was singing so we could what it looked like and that was pretty cool
I don’t really care for their music
Maybe it's not as terrible horrible no good very bad as the other aerosmith album I received earlier (pump), but still not my favourite.
Generic and forgettable
I didn't know Nobody's Fault by Testament was a cover from here. Huh. That was confusing cause I knew I heard Nobody's Fault before when listening to this, but couldn't remember where. At first I was thinking Guns N' Roses, as it sounds like something they would do From the Wikipedia article of Nobody's Fault: > "Nobody's Fault" is often cited as one of the heaviest songs Aerosmith has ever recorded, and many musicians regard it highly. Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash and James Hetfield of Metallica both consider it one of their favorite Aerosmith songs. Additionally, Kurt Cobain mentioned the song as a favorite in his journal. It IS a very solid song. The rest of the album.. didn't connect with me that much. It is their highest-rated album on rate your music, and many tier lists online place this album at the top of Aerosmith's stuff. I guess there is some goodness hidden in there that I don't know about yet. I was able to see the goodness of Nobody's Fauly since I like it from Testament's cover
Quite remarkable how there’s a traceable, almost linear downgrade in quality with each passing song. “Nobody’s Fault” in particular might’ve been the back-breaker for me. A pretty good bassline and guitar lick on “Last Child” won’t hold my good graces for an entire album. It’s hard to track the misgivings and reprehensible things done by all the classic rockers, but Steven Tyler in particular has had a platform that’s somehow outlasted the stuff he’s done. I’m not super amped about giving his project multiple albums on this list. They’re saying 2 starts is the new 3 stars
If someone told me this was their favorite album, I’m immediately checking an online registry…if you know what I mean.
a lot of rocn'n'roll influences, fun vocals if you are into that kinda stuff. Hair metal before hair metal. Some guitar parts and vocal mannerisms remind me of Led Zeppelin (i like them more), but overall it's not my music, dont know what is wrong exactly, but songs seem boring and not fun to listen too, everything sounds samey
We didn't really need this one here. We already had one from Aerosmith's "heyday" in Toys in the Attic and one from (but not the correct one) from the band's 80's revival with Pump. This doesn't really add anything nor does it have any great and enduring songs. Key tracks: Back in the Saddle
This blows. Basic as all hell butt rock done better by everyone else. They have no style of their own. Their fast exciting songs sound slow and boring. Oh hold on, wait.. okay Nobody's fault is actually good. But that was the only one that was interesting. Why is this album on the list? Very underwhelming and uninteresting save for literally ONE song.
Några helt okej rocklåtar, t ex Back in the saddle, Combination och Sick as a dog.
Inte uselt, bara trist. Vid genomlyssnigen kändes skivan väldigt lång trots att den klockar in på under 40 minuter. Mycket svag tvåa.
Not my fave Aerosmith album. Bit samey. No bangers.
I hate to relegate anything to a genre but I’m this case I will: I do not enjoy seventies hard rock. Van Halen, AC/DC, thin lizzy. It doesn’t resonate with me. And maybe Aerosmith, a band I try to understand every few years through their first three or four albums, is at the bottom for me. Plus one because Perry really is an excellent guitar player.
I didn't hate this, but didn't really like it either. "Last Child" or "Sick as a Dog" are the only standouts on here for me, rest is pretty generic meh
not their best work
Ami-Alt-Rock. Dann doch lieber den New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
That was more boring than I expected. Guess they are a singles band.
Never understood the popularity of this band. I could probably get by with never having to hear another Aerosmith song again. Mediocre at best.
Some good songs but the deep tracks don’t cut it. Mid.
Ugh, more 70s hard rock. 34 mins that feel like eternity. I like side 2 a bit more. More variety, more interesting. 2.5 rounded down Heard before? No Owned: No 50/219 (22%) Will I get: No
Lol what the heck was this mid? Never a big Aerosmith fan for many reasons but why would this album be on here? They've made better stuff but I guess this was influential for hard rock.
Ehh, about the same as other Aerosmith stuff, which is to say not my kind of thing. Low two.
Thought id like this one better, maybe because it stands in the shadow of their earlier work, but just sounded repetetive to me
A classic rock album with funk elements. Every track is high energy, nothing is slow and meloncholic. Even though I grew up listening to this kind of music (my parents were into classic rock and hair metal as well as some early 90s grunge), I never really got into this music. It's not awful, but I don't think it's particularly exciting either. With that being said, I did enjoy "Nobody's Fault".
Doesn't really Rock. Curse Guitar Hero for convincing me this band was on the level of the Beatles by giving them their own game. 4/10
That's Rocks, as in the phrase 'dumb as a bag of rocks'.
not really my cup of tea, but i can see the appeal
Samey rock
I got to the end and enjoyed this album more than expected, up to a point. I can see the Led Zep comparison and the lineage to Nirvana. In short though, too screamy and repetitive
I’m perhaps being harsh here, but there wasn’t anything memorable about this album
boring
I used to love Aerosmith, then I listened to other music and realized Aerosmith isn’t that good. Steven Tyler’s voice is like really obnoxious on this album, especially the opening track. Like he’s not really screaming, just straining his vocal cords. I’m not that into it. Sorry.
meh
Hard-Rock, 1976 -> 2
Pretty much just your average 60s bubblegum rock band. Not bad but definitely not something I'm coming back to. I knew I'm Not Your Stepping Stone, the rest pretty much ran together. Louie Go Home is just store brand Daytripper
Aerosmith is pretty meh to me.
Helt greie låter dette. Ikke noe som er sjukt eller dritfett
Wow, our first Aerosmith album! I like several of their singles that came out in my lifetime, but wouldn't you know, their 70s album doesn't do it for me. It wasn't nearly as offensive as some other guitar-and-screamin' bands, but it also did not entertain or interest me. I guess that's a 2.
4/10
Very forgettable for me, nothing that stands out, just run of the mill
Typical blues rock but not that special
Nah
I actually know very little from Aerosmith. I listened to Permanent Vacation (1987) when it came out, and a lot of Pump (1989) as that included one of my favourite tracks (Janies Got A Gun), but never really explored their back catalog. I remember being surprised to learn that “Dream On” was originally theirs as I only know the version from The Mission and didn’t know it was a cover for several years. Aerosmith are probably a band I should go back and listen to their early albums. As far as “Rocks” is concerned it sort of flew past me when I played it. Wouldn’t be able to name a single song that stood out. I am now, however, listening to their self-titled debut and “Dream On” is such a cracking track.
Aerosmith really isn't my thing. Listened to most but wasn't familiar with most of these songs. Liked Back in the Saddle.
Didn’t really do it for me overall but ‘Back in the Saddle’ was a standout.
I've never been a huge Aerosmith fan but I will say for this being only 35 minutes it was pretty decent! Still not my style but I wouldn't be mad to hear it again. Steven Tyler's vocals do rock.
I listened to this but I didn't HEAR it...you know what I mean?
I wasn't super into this album, but it's fine. It's rock music, the album is titled "Rocks," and it seems like it was pretty influential. I'd say it certainly deserves to be on the list for that last element alone, but that's about it. Favorite track: "Last Child"
Not much to say on this one - it's Aerosmith at their usual Aerosmith-y. fav tracks: Last Child
I don’t love Aerosmith, but I like them. This is the second Aerosmith album I’ve run into on this platform, and neither was one that I would pick.
One song on there was tea.
2.33
Best Track - "Back In The Saddle"
Why is this included, like seriously. Does it give you something, you won't get from listening a single Aerosmith song? No. Does it in some way excel in what other groups were doing at that time. No. Can I really call it bad? Also no.
Vođena pretprošlim albumom, nadala sam se iznenađenju, ali ovo je nažalost jednostavno loše. 2/5, 3/10
Front loaded with two mister songs tha became hits for them. The rest of the album feels reserved and doesn’t reach the same heights.
I mean it's Aerosmith, it's not great
Pretty fun, generally decent but overall overshadowed by its forebears. Definitely can hear the influence of Led Zeppelin here, and they're not as good as that.
My first time listening to an Aerosmith album, believe it or not. And what a deeply mediocre experience it was. Just boring, doesn't stand out in any way. Wouldn't even know it's Aerosmith if I heard it playing somewhere randomly 2/5
rats in the cellar and sick as a dog were the only ones i could see myself replaying
70s Coldplay
I like Aerosmith but they definitely have better albums. Nothing really jumping out at me on here.
Just not able to find my groove here.
They are just a bit rubbish really, aren’t they? Interesting fact: they named themselves after a boring chocolate bar (they didn’t even go for the mint version) and a boring surname just to show how boring they are. It gets a bonus star for being short, though. A mantra for this list: if you can’t be good, be short.
don't tell my wife but aerosmith sucks
I think these guys started out as The New Originals.
If I could give this negative stars I would
I'm really not a fan of blues hard rock and I generally despise Aerosmith, so knowing this is supposedly one of their best doesn't change much for me
Their less shitty album. Still shitty.
This band might have a few outstanding hits, they just can't achieve a consistent, interesting and great album.
The other aerosmith album on this list has some raunch to the riffs and the lyrics and some big ol hooks. This one not so much. Lots nitty gritty - old timey speak...
2.5
its got a few cuts but nothing I would write home about, more of a overrated band.
Some fun songs but getting bored near of the end of a 35 minute album is not a good sign
hey good lookin whatcha got there cookin
Shouty and unimaginative
Pretty lame dudes.
I had never listened to an Aerosmith album before. It sounded about like I thought it would. "Back in the Saddle" is a great song. The rest was forgettable and maybe, a little annoying.
boring
Aerosmith is just simply not for me. While I can recognize the talent of the bandmembers and see that this is a very competently made record, to my ears it's just vapid lyrics interspersed with impressive guitar solos. The album lacks any substance underneath the surface (that I can detect at least). It's not actively bad, so I can't give it a 1/5, but after the first couple songs it just became a chore to get through. 1.5/5 ->2/5.
This was perfectly fine but not a single song grabbed my attention. It felt like generic rock background music.
Couldn’t get excited by it - samey middle of the road “rock”
not my favorite, i fear
Meh
It’s okay. If it’s their best, then…yikes. Never been a fan of this band.
didn’t last very long. just not doing much for me
This record was a touchstone for music listeners of my generation but it really wasn't all that for me. Aerosmith at their least pretentious I guess.
le di varias chances pero no me atrapa no es un album q me pondria a escuchar.. no me disgusta tampoco pero medio monótono x ahi
Third 70s rock album in a row. Kill me now.
I do not like Aerosmith. Talented musicians, but what they create does nothing for me.
*1976 *Only 34 minutes *Back in the Saddle Again is a great intro song. *Like many people, I like Aerosmith's music generally, but Steven Tyler's voice can be a bit much. This didn't have too much of the harsh vocals. *This sounded more like Black Sabbath (in a good way) than modern, poppier Aerosmith. I take that back - the next few songs sounded like their modern style. Meh. RATING - 6.5/10
I was fearing this. The outcome is an album that ins't that heavy, or even that metal. The songs actually have some substance - a rarity. Listen carefully and there's funk around the edges. But it's still dumb ass rock. It works better with Beavis and Butthead.
Aerosmith is a band I honestly didn’t think existed until the 90’s…probably because I wasn’t alive before then. My oldest bro was really into these guys when I was a kid. I really like the Armageddon song, and they do have some great hits. In otherwise got annoyed with Steven Tyler’s voice and will deem this “old music”
Aeroshit. 3/10
Yuck
Some songs are alright, but the album is just so monotone. It's like a metal album that got it's balls cut off.
I liked it, but it didnt real stand out to me as anything memorable. Cool rock vibes though. Probably only a song or two that I was really feeling, the rest of it was just okay.
Aerosmith have managed to create a situation where I says Aerosmith rocks back to back. It does not in fact rock. Aerosmith sucks. Positives: it’s only 34 minutes
If you like a lot of drumming, guitar and screaming, this is for you. For what it is, it’s good but goes on a bit…
Eh
My third Aerosmith album in this project. Not to say they haven't earned their place in some hall of fame or other. But. Three bloody albums? That I need to hear before I die? Absolutely not. One would have sufficed, and honestly, I wouldn't care if their one entry on this list was Rocks, Toys in the Attic, or Pump. Their all very, very similar in what they deliver and how well their represent Aerosmith as a band.
Mid album. Too short. No popular songs.
Toys in the Attic was way better, this does not belong on any lists
Not really for me. I find the vocals a bit grating in places and to be honest the mix of hard rock and funk rock is done better elsewhere
What's the point?
The vocals were grating. I couldn't get into the melodies in this record. Favourite Track(s): Home Tonight Least Favourite Track(s): Sick As A Dog, Nobody's Fault, Get The Lead Out
I swear I listened to this whole album, but I don’t remember a single thing about it after Back in the Saddle. The whole thing just felt like background noise. Nothing about it was interesting or engaging enough for my brain to remember it. Maybe this is an important album in the development of rock, but it stands as hollow remains compared to more interesting things that came after.
nah
This was a very underwhelming Aerosmith album. One that barely held my attention.
meh
No me gusto mucho creo que tiene álbumes mejores
Cocks
Aerosmith når det er mest pøllet, og kedeligt. I det mindste et kort album.
Så kedeligt at jeg her til morgen havde glemt at jeg hørte det i går.
Yep. That certainly is Aerosmith. Doing their Aerosmithery. 2.5/5
Nothing in this record has changed my stance on dad rock and how absolutely trash it is. 1.5 stars, generously rounded up.
Classic 70s that opens with a banger
Other than the single (Back In The Saddle), there's not much here that's interesting.
Early Aerosmith is definitely better than late, but still tainted and kinda challenging to enjoy.
Oh boy don't recognize any songs here so maybe no hits? Interesting they had a surgance in the 90s Not necessarily bad but extremely bland rock
As 'Rock' goes it was an easy listen, maybe too easy for my taste. I didn't take in his lyrics, which always seems to be in the sleazy side. By numbers rock.
This whole thing is cool because I never would have listened to a full Aerosmith album probably. It is not my fav vibe, the kind of cheezy sleezy hard rock thing, but I see why they were a big band. Definitely foretold the 'hair metal' trend, party but not a lot of substance, riffs but nothing too deep to hook into.
not my vibe typically, lots of yelling but still pretty good
Eh.
Aerosmith are just so generic. There are a handful of songs by them that I’ve enjoyed, none on this album.
No recognizable hits on this. Some decent guitar riffs and jangly boogie woogie type sounds (“get the lead out” being a fave). Feels like the early dawn of hair bands. Good for dive bars but top 1000? Feels like a stretch.
Disappointing. Aerosmith at their best are pretty good, but this album is the same song on repeat for 35 minutes.
Maybe the most consistent album from an awful band. These vocals alone… dear goodness…
Meahhhh.
Only thing impressive about this is how many people found it worthy of 5 stars.
Not for me
Standard hard rock album not much memorable, rats in the cellar only song I’ll come back to
I don’t really like Aerosmith so I was annoyed when I saw this album come out. I still don’t like them, I find their sound to not be as original as their fans think, but Rats in the cellar and nobody’s fault are pretty good songs.
Muy diferente a lo que esperaba. Realmente algo falla en mi porque fuera de que sonaba bien, no le encontré cualidades que destaquen. Nota: 2.1
Coming off the back of Toys In The Attic, it suffers a lot. There’s no hook song - no instant classic. It’s one of the Aerosmith albums you forget easily.
Phenomenally meh. Makes sense why I really know only a handful of popular Aerosmith tunes.
Steven’s voice is crazy, sounds like it must constantly hurt, I don’t know how he hasn’t completely lost it by now. Some catchy beats and guitar riffs.
Idk
I liked one of the songs!
hey, as far as worst bands of all time go, these guys are pretty good!
2.5
Aerosmith does not rock. There are a few harmless, radio friendly tracks here, but nothing that keeps us wanting more.
I'll take "False Advertising in Album Titles" for $200, Alex.
Not my thing but this rocks along very nicely; way more palatable than most of its peers. 3 stars if Tyler wasn't a seriously unsettling creep.
We get it man, you can screech. Couldn't you think of anything else to do with your life?
I've always had a soft spot for Aerosmith's 80s/90s stuff and was looking forward to this, but it was quite forgettable. No real great memorable riffs or lyrics. The only thing of interest was that some parts had a slightly funkadelic edge to them which was unusual. Disappointing.
Man boomers were really one-shotted by this stuff. It's fine but really nothing special to me
I've always enjoyed Steven Tyler, but this album didn't stand out to me that much.
Pretty typical Aerosmith. I didn't mind most of this. Nothing standout though.
After strong first two cuts – let's give them one point for each – but zero for the rest of the album being an undistinguished and derivative slog. Plus, one can't ever forgive these cats the shameful dreck of their later years, even if "Walk This Way" might have been the first rock song one ever loved in real time.
I expected this would land similar to the GnR and AC/DC albums I’ve heard so far, but it was worse. Every single song feel my long and dull, I just wanted it to end.
dacht bijna dat het guns and roses was. Best hard wel, maar niet echt bijzonder of iets dat ik per se nog een keer zou luisteren. Voelde gewoon als een mindere versie van. Objectief wel vet maar ewaja, mijn voorkeur
Alright rock, didn't do much for me. Some parts felt like they wanted to be zeppelin. Back in the saddle is a fun hit but this isn't monumental for me
Isch zimli rockig, so rockig dass mir fast d ärmel usm pully gschüttled hed, so rockig dass s album sogar rocks heisst, so rockig dass geolog*inne e phd thesis über das album chönted mache. Aso zu rockig. Gömmer mal 2 stei für diese album. Peace out
