Reviews (page 7 of 7)

Well honestly I feel like this kinda sounds like every other little folk/singer songwriter band from the 60s so nothing really stood out to me

It was ok, though nothing to get overly excited about. The album's length was fine overall, but a few of the songs could have been a bit shorter.

Who knows where the time goes was lovely but other than that was pretty dull, was ready for it to be done

Too Folksy.

Love the cover art, you could have this in your house and other Fairport convention fans would get it while everyone else would assume it's your grandparents. Like the last album this was a bit too classic 60s hippie folk for the most part but every now and then the band would just rip it and I'd be tapping along. Then back to being dull. Not my sort of thing and the brief interludes of half decent music didn't save it.

Boring

Natalie Merchant meets Allison Kraus. Not my brand of music but I didn’t hate it. Maybe it’s because I just watched LOTR Fellowship of the Ring before listening to this.

Ei hirveästi kiinnosta vuoden 1969 soundi,..

- Another band I've never heard of. - It definitely sounds like folk rock, and I ended up listening to the album more than once, cause I was beginning to feel that I don't really get the feel for new music the first time I listen to it. - I don't love the whole album, but my fave songs are A Sailor's Life, and Cajun Woman - I would listen to the album again, depending on my mood. This is very much a "vibes" type of genre for me. If I'm feeling it, I'll like it...if I'm not, turn it off :P

Bloody not good with Folk music... Or folk rock. I have tried I promise...

2.5 - Meh

I'll quote Butthead on this one. "What the hell is this crap?" A French Bob Dylan cover? Only Charlotte Gainsbourg is allowed to do that. I really tried to put my "objective listener" hat on for this, but I was already in a grumpy mood going in and suffering through this oddity didn't help any. And although my one dimensional nature did allow me to appreciate the one mild rocker found here, and one other song that was pretty cool (Who Knows Where the Time Goes ?) (Who knows how this album made the list?) I must throw down a big fat 2 for my review. Sorry not sorry Fairport. 2

In a nutshell: electrified traditional folk. This is what I'd expect to hear in a rural UK pub. Not that's a bad thing. I might go back to this album in a few weeks, because there must be something here I don't see. Overall: 4/10

2.3 This is exactly what I imagine Cartman has in mind when he says he fucking hates hippies.

Fine for what it is, but not my bag.

Melodic, some of it was good. All of it was dated.

British folk-inspired songs not without merits but I'm just not into this any more. Real folk yes, as in, traditional songs by real people (Lomax recordings!) The voice gets really annoying after a few songs. Not very creative.

Not good, Bob.

I don’t like this. Maybe because it reminds me of an evil ex, maybe because it sucks.

Very Joni Mitchell vibes but not as poetic but with better singing. Don’t know if I’ll return but liked it well enough

Mostly folksy music with mild electric guitars and a whispy female lead vocalist. But some tracks are a bit more rocking. The one that stands out to me is 'Autopsy' which is in 5/4 time.

60s cult indoctrination simulator

Didn't like this at all, too slow, too folksy and just kinda shit. Only part that jumped out as a sustained bit I didn't dislike was A Sailors Life, but even that's a stretch

#500. A dull slog that I had to force myself to get through. I liked one of their other albums that I listened to from this playlist, but this one didn't have that same something, whatever it was. 2/5: just kinda boring, really.

Started out promising, but ended up being boring.

OK folk music. Some catchy songs, some not. 2.5.

Not great

bri'ish folk? aso s albumcover findi hammer hahaha ohh seehr schöni stimm!! echli wie d joni mitchell si tu dois partir isch okkkk aber jz echt nöd meh, find cool dass sie französisch singed aber wemmer nöd genau lost chönntmers für englisch halte hahaha autopsy wieder rockiger, a sailor's life wieder folk, mached sies eifach abwechsligswiis? ja han sailor's life jz nöd vill chönne abgwünne also ich find ihri stimm suuuper. d gitarre findi teilwiis au schön. aber mier schlaft chli s gsicht ih who know where the time goes seg so de hit? PERCY JACKSON ja sorry für mich isch das es klars 2, es isch nöd "schlecht" per se, aber finds extrem langwilig (aso genesis hall hani cool gfunde) s albumcover passt guet vodem her guet, das pärli gseht so bieder uus

I’m not too keen on folk, I could get into the opener and Autopsy but the rest not really x

I like The second track: "Si Tu Dois Partir" But generally I don't like the sound of this album, even though I often like folk music or at least folk-inspired pop and rock

not all bad but not really my type of music

All a bit too unbitten.

Kinda boring but ok background music

Please no more. This is twice I've been tortured with these notes

Kind of boring. Best song was the bob dylan cover

Hmmmm. Lady had a nice voice and it was alright for a frosty morning but nit really my cup of tea

at least the songs allowed me to fall asleep

It’s alright but very “it’s own thing”

Not for me

Got better as it progressed. 2.5?

First half of the album was alright, everything after A Sailor's Life was boring, and holy fuck Million Dollar Bash is the worst song in existence

I think i listened to this 3 months ago and forgot to review it. Mid then, mid now.

Can't remember.

Didn’t do much for me

I didn't care for is

Didn't love this one, couldn't really get into it. Just wasn't the vibe of the day

frankly supaboring

Probably a fine folky album but I didn't get into it.

Bit bland but ok.

I’m sorry, this is boring. 2.2 stats

Some decent songs, but something I would never listen to again

Between the cover art and the title I had no idea what to expect. Enjoyed some moments when they got into a groove, but mostly forgettable.

1.7 Bit of a snoozefest. The only song I liked was Million Dollar bash and I think that's a Dylan song.

Decent sound.

Not terrible but pretty boring overall.

2 Fairport Convention Albums in a row. Am I being punked?!

Folk me.

who knows where the time went

Renaissance fair blues

I can’t stand Joni Mitchell and I can stand this even less.

Great cover, a couple of good tracks but not really my thing

Encore un groupe inconnu. Et une révélation : la folk (ou apparenté) n'est vraiment pas pour moi ... Celui ci est cependant plus intéressant que les précédent : Autopsy + Sailor's Life + Avec des chorus plaisants. => 2/5

Fairport Convention's "Unhalfbricking" falls short of expectations. While Sandy Denny's vocals shine on tracks like "Who Knows Where the Time Goes," much of the album feels disjointed and experimental to a fault. The band's attempt to blend traditional folk with rock elements often misses the mark, resulting in an uneven listening experience. Despite moments of brilliance, particularly in their rendition of Bob Dylan's "Percy's Song," the album lacks cohesion and fails to fully capture the magic of their live performances. Die-hard folk-rock fans might find some appeal, but casual listeners may struggle to connect with this ambitious yet flawed release.

Oh wow more boring English folk music from the 60s.

This had absolutely no effect on me whatsoever

Kind of boring folk duet

As someone who has waxed rhapsodic over the likes of The Chieftains and The Milk Carton Kids, I was expecting to have this album make a bigger impression. I think it’s just a reminder that those who pave the way aren’t those who go the farthest or the fastest. I think this album played better as part of a burgeoning folk movement. Put another way, if I was smoking medicinal herbs and dancing with mostly naked women, or could imaging doing it anymore, I’d like this album a lot more. All that said, you can see the foundation being lain, despite the album's title and Sailor's Life is a song I could see returning to.

So Fairport Convention equals English folk huh… The band DOES have a very distinctive sound – especially Sandy Denny’s vocals and stylings, and for what they were trying to do, they did a pretty solid job… Not a big folk fan though, and especially not a big Dylan fan – which I guess there were 3 or 4 Dylan covers on this album – so that might explain my less-than-enthusiastic experience with the “Unhalfbricking”… The 2 songs I did find the most interesting were “The Autopsy” & “Where Does The Time Go” – both written by Denny, as both are fine efforts, and I’d give them both 4-stars out of 7-stars… I rated a Dylan album a few weeks back, and I commented on how I think Dylan is a great songwriter – however, just about ALL of the versions of his songs that I like – were performed by other artists (i.e. “All Along The Watchtower” – Jimi Hendrix, “Mr. Tambourine Man” – The Byrds, “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” G&R, etc.). Well, Fairport Convention had 4 chances to wow me on this album, but not so much… Anyways – definitely a unique sound, and fairly well-executed for what it was, so a solid 2 in my book…

✅ pleasant, but not as compelling as Leige and Leif

I dont like it at all. Didn't like the other one by them. Not my thing, boring, shite, just not for me

They can’t all be winners.

This kind of sounds like what they’d play in at an old timey circus.

Not bad musically, just not my style at all.

folk... een genre dat alle kanten op kan, van zeer goed, bijna punk tot zeer campy melodrama songs... helaas te veel naar die laatste kant

Not bad, but not my kind of music

5/10. Not my thing, paja la mayoria del disco. TF: Autopsy/A Sailor's Life

I think it would make good background music at a festival, in the sun, drinking cider etc. But I didn't enjoy it on it's own.

Why is English folk always so boring?

Zzzzzz.

ok, but not my style of music

Folk music, not keen.

Boring

I really could not get myself to enjoy this album, it’s worth noting the non bonus track version is only 6 songs long and one of those is in French. So of the 5 songs I was able to understand, there is no inherent flaws, the lead female vocalist has a beautiful voice and the lyrics are well done, I just couldn’t bring myself to enjoy any of the songs as I found them all so boring and lack lustre. “Million dollar bash” is the closest to enjoyment and is a quick sub 3 minute, faster in tempo and therefore more enjoyable. This album actually makes me want to go re rate Beth ortons album. As this feels like a 30 year earlier incarnation and made me realise in reflection that I was tottaly wrong about that album and they are both equally as boring as one another.

Much prefer other bands of this genre

Drones on at times - like much music of this era it can go off on a drug induced aimless wander and leave us sober folks wondering what the hell just happened. Enjoyed sections of this when it was a bit more tightly focused. Nice vocals, good musicianship. Glad it was only 40 minutes, I could at least bear listening once through. No more please.

think i need to be in a certain mood to enjoy this, but its certainly not terrible

Nice beach / driving with the windows down music, nothing super great to me!

Folky, not really my style and there were some songs I enjoyed but overall nothing special

Not for me at this moment

Not my thing for a full album listen overall, but i do love Autopsy , and Who Knows Where the Time Goes is full of sad memories for me.

2.5 Surprisingly, fairly enjoyable just not my sort of thing.

strange… not in a good way

A little strange but I’ve gotten much worse off this list.

This album started pretty decently. Was off to a better start than the last fairport album. But then it got really folky and boring. I don’t think a 10 minute folk song should ever exist. The French song was surprisingly catchy and enjoyable too but pretty much downhill after that. Almost was good. 5.0/10

Classic 60s vocals but no snap to their sound.

As is with all folk music for me, it's somewhat uniform and boring to listen to after some time. Yes, there are some Bob Dylan titles, but they weren't published by himself then for a reason.

more boring British folk

just really boring Significant 38/121 Liked 17/121 Added 4/121 NNN

Boring as hell folk music.

Autopsy is great. But the vocals aren’t great for the most part. 2 stars

I didn't hate this but it didn't really interest me. I've found I'm quite averse to the 60/70 style of female folk vocal which is grating and lacking in depth. This hit that 'not so sweet' spot and I found it difficult. I'm sure the songs were well crafted and if you like her voice it could be a great record, but not for me.

More like FAIRly CONVENTIONal folk music. 100% the only reason this is on here is because Dylan is listed as a writer on some of the song credits and nothing makes the author of this book harder than a Dylan writing credit.

Uninspiring

I kept hoping for it to get better; it does not. Bargain basement Joni Mitchell.

Weird and slow. A real snooze. Very 60s but not it a good way

Muistaakseni todella laimea esitys. Olisikohan ollut yksi nautittava biisi ja muuten aika skeidaa.

Ihan jees fiilistelyä, mut ei mitenkään erikoista mun sieluun

Repetitive, sea-shanty-sounding folk that drove me to somnolence. I think I'm the wrong demographic or era for this stuff. Even the big hit on it, "Who knows where the time goes?" didn't really stick for me. I'm sure my parents loved it though.

Oof. Not for me, Clive. Rotten rubbish. The point of no return was when I heard the phrase 'Four and twenty'. That would be 24. It might be 1969 but if you can put a man on the moon (allegedly), you should be able to get to grips with basic modern numeral conventions.

Bit wishy-washy.

A lot of musical/vocal talent that falls short on songwriting/lyrics.

A bit boring

Starts out nice with Genesis Hall but becomes dull after a while. Very narrow in range

Interesting - especially the quality of the girl singer’s voice, but only just interesting.

Mooie hoes, deze gasten hadden we volgens mij al eens eerder beluisterd. Kan me niet zo bekoren

Sounds like a lot of folky music from the 60s and just isn’t very interesting to me

Reminds me of why I hate folk. This genre contains some of the most boring music there is.

Not my thing.

We don't need two Fairport Convention albums on this list, we know what they're about, go and do your medieval cosplay somewhere else. A forgettable 2.

Never get these guys. All the ingredients seem to be there, but the combination never rises above dull for me. She's got a great voice, the tunes are pretty enough, but I've just finished listening to what is a pretty short album and I couldn't say that I remember even one of the songs. 2/5.

Disproves my theory that the best of any genre is worth checking out. Quality ingredients: great voice, love the guitar, amazing fiddle, solid material, especially Who Knows Where The Time Goes, pretty arrangements. Yet somehow it all comes together into something that never really rises above being boring. I like relaxing music, I'm ok with a melancholy mood, but no matter how much I try, no matter how good the albums are in this project, I just don't like folk music. I've really tried. I don't mind having listened and I assume this album deserves a place on this list. But I won't be back.

I might give it 2.5 if they let me.

I'll be honest, I didn't enjoy listening to it much. Only decent track here is Autopsy. Maybe A Sailor's Life too but it's too long. 4/10

I kept forgetting it was on. Nice gentle folk music, but would've been happy to die before listening to this one. So wouldn't be in my book of essential albums.

Our second from this group, and it's decent but it doesn't feel "necessary" in the sense that I would hope for any album on this list. They're a pretty cool '60s psych/folk rock group, but we don't need multiple from them. Suprise surprise, they're British. Favorite tracks: Si Tu Dois Partir, A Sailor's Life. Album art: Some old foagies standing around. Appropriately boring I'm afraid. 2.5/5

This collection of folk songs would be much better if the singer didn't have that slightly annoying, thin, fast-vibrato voice. On top of that, some of the instruments are out of tune. I gues this one is not for me. 2/5

Folk off with this shit 2/5

They said it best in Autopsy - "..why must you bore me to tears?" Aggressively dull.

I can never understand why bands feel the need to recreate sounds that were already done in the past. For me the whole point of music is bringing something new to the table and this ain't it

Unoffensive, not remarkable

Quaint

I adore the album cover. Not the album.

I just heard of this folk group. This was pretty decent but didn't seem like something I'll remember a week from now

This feels very 60's... and British. It's a bit too much for me. It's the kind of music I would expect to run into in the corner of a brew festival. Good enough, but not really good.

Ajattelin ensin kolmosta, sillä tietyssä mielentilassa (väsyneenä, tai sydänsuruisena) tällainen musiikki voisi kuulostaa hyvin kauniilta, mutta valitettavasti levyn toka biisi oli niin ärsyttävä rallatus, ettei uppoa missään mielentilassa. (Olenpas minä nyt pihi näiden tähtien kanssa, toivottavasti huomenna on jotain enemmän mun makuun.)

Muistiinpanot: ei ollut muistiin painuva. Ohueksi jäi ja taustamusana pysyi 2/5

Honestly not a fan of folk music, maybe one day it’ll change, but I like vashti Bunyan more than them lol

Some nice moments, but this album was just lost on me. I didn’t get it, maybe need to understand it in context. Kinda boring. Songwriting didn’t feel that interesting to me.

Solid folk rock with some great guitar playing. Doesn't really do anything mindblowing to me though honestly. A Sailor's Life is cool just because of how long it is.

I was generous on giving this group a 3 on their last album.

Solid folk, listenable and melodic.

Just sort of sweet light folk, some times it gets a bit more uptempo for variation which helps…

I'm being a little harsh in the rating because this music quickly goes from "fine & unoffensive" to irritating, the longer i listen to it. Genesis Hall was actually a good start, but it just drags on with the minstrel folk music. A Sailor's Life at 11 minutes did me in.

Neat album save the female lead vocal

Some weird old timey ish. Not really picking up on what she's laying down

Eh, kinda boring, didn't do much for me!

I can't. Not as bad as ub 40 though. I liked Cajun Woman 2/5

Having has Liege and Leif earlier, I can only say that even a less folky Fairport doing Dylan songs is still boring. The voice is lovely, deep, resonant but I really was just twiddling my thumbs and thinking about what I'd listen to next when this was on. Like I say, nice voice, I think Sailors Song went a bit Velvet Underground for a minute. That's the positive.

Not my speed

Folk rock, never folky enough to scratch that itch for me, nor rocky enough for the other. Have not listened to the whole album, but they could potentially have a good hybrid in there of the two, I just have not yet heard it.

As I sit here shoving cake into my fat face and thinking about lost love, I can't help but think that listening to this record was just an incredible waste of time. I could be out there, on the prowl for some perfumed pussy, sharpening my talons, ready to devour an unsuspecting feline. Instead, it's cake, crying and watching repeats of the entire first series of Big Brother. The one with Nasty Nick and cheeky scouser Craig. A tear rolls down my crumb-laden face as I shit my shorts, sigh and remember the good old days. You have been evicted.

country album, pretty self explanatory. Fav track: none Least fav: Si tu dois partir

No thanks

this album is wack why is it on this list

2/5 not my cup of tea

Clearly, I do not have the musical taste to appreciate this album. Doing some research I found that most of the songs were written by Bob Dylan. IMHO, only "Who Knows Where the Time Goes?" likes me.

Million Dollar Bash é divertidinha.

Cumbaya, falsetto vocals and acoustic guitars. This is British folk music from the 60's and sounds about the way you'd expect.

I grew up around folk music and folk folk, so have a natural aversion to anything that leans too much in that direction. but I actually quite enjoyed parts of this, which surprised me. The middle section of A Sailor’s Life / Cajun Woman put me in mind of the early demo versions of some of the more extended VU & Nico songs. Maybe it was the violin, and the rockier edge to it. The rest of it kind of washed over me. Not sure I understand either the title or the family photo on the cover (even after Googling), which doesn’t help. Not too bad in places but unlikely to play it again.

I had never heard of this group before, so I went into this blindly. I get why it's praised, but it's just not doing anything for me in the moment. I'm picky when it comes to folk music anyway.

If I were in a 1970s hippie commune, I'd expect to be sitting in a field with butterflies fluttering around, and us hippies perched on logs crafted into haphazard chairs listening to someone with a guitar singing folks songs while the rest of us swayed back and forth and attempted to harmonize. And if I did that, I'd have this album

I dunno. It was fine. I don't ever see going back to it though.

Such an old style. I'm sure is was good back in the day. 2/5

Completely unenthused about this. I don’t have anything against it, but I’m just not into it. Very meh.

Pretty twee. Interesting to listed as historical artefact but can't say I actually enjoyed it.

You are fucking kidding me. ANOTHER album from 1969. And of course it's fucking folk rock, with a more annoying than usual singer. Guy who wrote this book, I fucking hate you. It's like the sole purpose of it is to make me listen to boomer bullshit 5 days a week. 2/5.

Not really my cup of tea but I like the cover.

Decent album but not something I think I'd ever revisit.

Fairport Convention ain't nothing to folk with.

En general aburrido, y eso que me gusta este tipo de música. Me ha hecho gracia la canción en francés "Si tu dois partir" y el single famoso "Who knows where the time goes?". Dos estrellas y ya.

mehhh with some occasional funky guitar

Nada memorable. Al menos ya super de donde es originalmente Naked If I Want de Cat Power.

Nice album cover

Seriously?

Not my thing.

Did not like the singer's affectations or the meandering compositions. I guess baby boomer folk is not my thing. I appreciated the clean, clear production, even if every song would benefit from stripping back the group vocals. An excellent rhythm section elevate the material where they can.

Does there really need to be multiple Fairport Convention albums on this list? Anyways, significantly inferior to their follow-up. Kind of bland overall. A bunch of Dylan covers and some glimpses of what would come next. Favourite Track: “Percy’s Song”

Was surprised to see that it's from 1969. Sounds like the kind of folk music you'd hear from America from much more recent years. Not hugely my kind of thing, could appreciate it though. Reminded me a bit of Lera Lynn but didn't enjoy as much. Did like the bits that sounded like traditional Irish folk music though

Alright but not great

It was OK. Couple of good songs but mostly a bit dull

is it prog-folk? Whatever it was..... I wasn't a fan

Never ever heard Fairport Convention... Top Track: Cajun Woman

It's a shame to give it a bad rating because the music style is great but I cannot handle the singer's voice

Too old school folksy for my taste

Not bad, but a bit too much hippy for me.

Sounded like their influences (Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell). You will truely believe why they are called the british Jefferson Airplane. Other than that, the album isn't very interesting.

Totally fine. 2 1/2 stars if I could give it a half star.

Die Stimme der Sängerin nervt sehr. Das ganze langatmig und weinerlich. Alt, nicht gut!

I prefer hear "La Biblia" of Vox Dei from Argentine. Is the same style but with quality and creativity.

Hippies

Lordy, why does folk rock need to sound so earnest? Sandy Denny's stiff, oh-so-serious voice is a millstone that sinks this record, but she alone is not to blame - the sloppy, everyone-playing-everything-all-the-time backing by the other Conventioneers renders the ragged music as a monochromatic blur.

God, this was tough to get through. Not for me.

It’s like a pretty flower that crumbles when you pick it up. It’s the musical equivalent of a donut hole

Couldn't wait for this to end. Not because it's offensively unlistenable, but I was bored senseless. I won't be revisiting this

Not for me lol

This album cover is the type of shit you would see in a house that you rented for the weekend and when you look at a photo and say "Wow are these the old owners?" and the hosts say something like "No the owners are in the background. Who are these people in the foreground?" Then after a wild and crazy weekend of unexplainable happenings, the lady in this picture shows up and rips the skin off of her face and speaks in tongues while the man hovers ominously in the kitchen screaming something that kind of sounds racist, but you're not really sure since it was a different time when he grew up and it was ambiguous enough that it could have been about actual animals and not the other meaning that is implied. But before we can cross THAT bridge, the dog is barking at the hundreds of rats that are pouring out of the oven. And on top of ALL OF THAT, the mailman is knocking at the door, somehow completely oblivious to the hellscape that is occurring 5 feet in front of him

Me gusta el sonido folk medio rock sfot, y con elementos no conevncionales. Likes: Si tu dois partir - Percy's song

What is this

Take the cover photo as a serious warning of what sort of music can be found in this collection I would not let this in the house 0/5

Really really boring, kinda made me mad.

Why is this on here?

Another smash folk album from Fairport Convention. SMH. I thought we were done with them after listening to Liege and Lief but apparently the album released just months before that garbage was “better”. I’m pretty sure they were playing the washboard in Si Tu Dois Partir along side the squeezebox but I’m not gonna waste the time to find out. Same band, same year, same result.

best lost to time. 1

This is just generic English folk. It bored me.

Can’t stand this twee sound.

boring.

Bob Dylan but worse

I don't think I can handle another British folk album. I might like one song, but this album just solidified that I'm not into British folk music.

Feels like god is pranking me whenever we get some bullshit like this. There’s nothing on this album justifying it on this list nor it being on any list of any kind.

I cannot stand the singer's voice and I'm getting so sick and tired of all these sub-mediocre, boring, basic British bands on this list. I don't know who thought it was a good idea to expand the mind numbing tune of A Sailor's Life to 11 minutes, but they ought to lose their license to play music or have any input on music. These 47 minutes felt like hours.

Not for me. 1/5

Not a fan.

No thanks

I hate this band. Celtic folk meets Creedence Clearwater Revival. Awful.

First three songs I was absolutely hating life with this one. It picked up a bit with A Sailors Life but even after that there wasn’t anything I was overly fussed on. For the most part I couldn’t stand the singers voice. Also a side note, potentially the worst album cover I’ve ever seen

This album has cemented the fact that traditional English folk rock is not for me.

NOt a fan of whispy singers...

Waste of my precious time listening to this album. I tried to get in the spirit but it was a fruitless effort. PASS.

I hadn't heard this album before, but it's fair to say that folk rock doesn't really meet my taste in music. I played this album through three times, and I don't really get it. The vocals are mixed rather too much to the fore, and I disliked their quivery tone. I didn't find the music behind the vocals particularly interesting.

One of the most boring albums yet

awwwww folk rock. i would like to listen to like folk punk more than ever, rather than listening to these. that french bob dylan cover with the shit like violin and accordion makes my life more terrible. 1/5

Folk music isn't really my vibe most of the time and really old folk music even less. I can understand why people like this but the slow songs and gentle singing puts me to sleep. And just when I'm relaxed the singer hits a long high note from nowhere that is two times as loud and I wake up again. I bet this inspired a lot of todays folk music singers but even the evolved version of this isn't for me.

point8.

Although staying true to the English folk roots, I just found it boring and repetitive and same tone. Only song that really popped to me was cajun woman which was upbeat and broke the monotony of the album. Not good for me

Uh... What is this? I am loath to hate on anyone's art, but this was positively grating. Salt in the wound: I endured the bonus tracks edition.

do not like this womans white rabbit voice

I knew right away that I did not need this in my life.

Got through 2.5 tracks. This one's a skip for me.

Hippie garbage bullshit

It’s just another Bob Dylan album.

Shades of Joan Baez

Not for me

Folk rock. No longer a thing.

This might be the most boring thing that I have ever voluntarily listened to. 1/5

Folk off Aside from Simon & Garfunkel (twice!!), this is the worst album this list has thrown up.

This was annoying. Most albums on this list that I don’t enjoy, I can at least see why they are there and appreciate the talent. Not this one.. there’s much better folk music from this period

nails on a chalkboard

not my music

this whiny fucking woman is doing my head in

Felt too much like church music, not a fan. 1/5

It was bad. Not sure how they describe this as rock. It was closer to folk music and the singing wasnt great. I struggled through it. It was short. I will round down.

Cranberries did it better. Not for me

I don't like Fairport Convention

What what was that? Bluegrass? Folk? A ca. 1300’s bard?

That was boring. Did not care for it.

Not a genre I really dabble with but also it does absolutely nothing to make me feel like I should in the future. Album cover is great though

Interesting album cover. Uninteresting music

Cover art. The cover is nearly disturbing. I presume the band are sitting in the garden visible through the trellis in the wall. This photo took planning but what was the purpose? Did the album name follow the photo.

Not for me

This folk stuff is all folked up. Was difficult making it through the entire album. A 5 for me, making it through. A 1 for whatever this was

This is just not for me lmao

just a shit version of Mulligan and O'hare.

Get rekt

Boring album. 1.5/5

This is really great if you have insomnia. What a snoozefest. Horrible late 60s typical folk singing. 2/10.

not good

No thank you.

This is grating and boring. Not my cuppa I guess
