Very enjoyable would listen again

Not entirely sure I needed to hear this album before I died haha

Absolute drag

What a load of absolute codswallop. 1001 albums to name before you die.

I just cannot buy into music like this which lacks melody. Lyrically it is surprisingly wide in scope but track after track of the downbeat mood is just a bit too much for me.

About as middle of the road as you can get.

Bold, unique, I’ve never heard anything like it. Wow.

It isn’t bad, but it never really gets out of gear.

Musically decent, I personally don’t like the vocal style and I despise the lyrics

This is beyond disappointing. If anyone happens to read this before they have listened to Tommy, I would encourage them to check out the live performance of these songs from the Live 1970 album. The songs themselves are never great but at least on the live album there is a band chemistry that isn’t present on the studio version.

I don’t deny their place in musical history but I just cannot get on board with this type of music.

Oh great another ‘great at the time’ album. What a chore this was.

Alex Turner is one of the greats imo but this album essentially stays in the same gear all the way through save for a couple of songs at the end. It’s somehow dramatic without being bold. Good without being great. All in all, the sound of a great artist inexplicably linking up with a bang average one such as Miles Kane.

Musically not bad. Cannot get into that vocal style though. Also too long.

So middle of the road that it deserves nothing. A waste of time.

John is on form here that’s about as good as it gets

One thing I have learned through doing 1001 is that Neil Young is bang average

John Cale’s contributions are great, the rest is not

These guys are great at playing instruments but not at writing songs. If you’ve heard one song by them, you’ve heard them all.

It just doesn’t do anything for me. There’s just no edge or spirit to it.
