Great album with tight, catchy songs. Not much to add, really. 4 stars/8.5 out of 10 Best songs: Late In the Day, Richard III, Sun Hits the Sky, Going Out
Always liked this album a lot but some of it never fully connected with me. On this listen a lot of it came together more. Still feel like it’s 4 or 5 songs too long but there’s so much great stuff it’s easy to overlook. 4.5 stars/9 out of 10
Such a homey, lovely, plaintive album. Almost perfect, the song Smackwater Jack only flaw throughout the whole album. 5 stars 9.6 out of 10
Not my absolute favorite Talking Heads but a great album. I prefer Fear of Music and Buildings and Food more. Low 4.5 stars 8.9 out of 10
What is there to say about this album that hasn’t already been said? Really great but I like OK Computer and The Bends a little more. 4.5 stars (rounding up to 5 here) 9.2 out of 10
Very good double album that would have been a fantastic single album. Loved Ice Cold Ice, Could You Be The One, She Floated Away and Charity, Chasity, Prudence and Hope. 4 stars 8.4 out of 10
3.5 stars 7.5 out of 10
Great album. I always preferred Ice Cube’s flow to most 90s era rappers. 4 stars 8.6 out of 10
The best Britpop album. Easy. 5 stars
I loved this album as a teenager and guess what? I still love it now! It still holds up. Love Shirley’s attitude. She’s a badass. 4.5 stars 9.2 out of 10
Very cool album by a band that I always liked but never got fully into for some dumb reason. Definitely an album I’ll return to. High 4 stars 8.6 out of 10
Great album. Heard it years ago and it was better than I remember. Title track is my favorite. 4.5 stars
Groovy album. Fan of Donovan’s hippy dippy far out thing. 4 stars
Had this CD years ago. Hits are the clear highlights. Low 3 stars.
Nice and boring, like something that plays in a new age shop while you shop for crystals. 2.5 stars
This album is very unsettling. Now, I don’t mind unsettling but this is a bit too much for me. I get what they are doing. But I’m not sure I like it too much. Ok, I kind of like Lizard Lady. That’s kind of funny. But I think it is hard to tolerate this for 35 minutes. 2 stars
This is mostly a pretty pleasant but bland album. Why is this here? Nothing special and it’s way too long. 2.5 stars
Heard this years and years ago and kind of hated it. I guess my ears have matured a lot and now I dig this. 4 stars
Exhilarating, succinct pop songs. One of my favorite albums of the 1980s. 5 stars
Some very good songs: Kick, Push; Real, Daydreaming, Hurt Me Soul, AmericanTerrorist. Too long of an album. If trimmed could have been a 4 star album. As it stands:3.5 stars, 3 for this site.
Pretty good but too long! 3.5 stars, 3 stars for this project
Fantastic first half of the album. Ok second half. That equals 3.5 stars. Soooo…..I’ll be nice and round this up to 4.
Very puzzling entry. Is it because Beyoncé is involved? Quite possibly. Best songs are the singles and Samantha Sang/Bee Gee’s cover. This album also showcases Beyoncé’s biggest flaw: her tendency to over sing. LOTS OF FILLER. 2.5 stars
Lovely smooth easy-listening deliciousness. 4.5 stars 4 for this project
I like this! Not a perfect album but lots of fun. Favorite tracks include: Wake Up and Make Love to Me, Blockheads, Clever Trevor 3.5 stars but rounding up to 4 on this project.
I can finally admit to liking Velvet Underground now I guess. Really cool album. 4 stars
Another blandish-post Britpop band on this list. This is ok, but not doing too much for me.
Going 4 on this, always liked this album a lot but it is a bit too long. There’s an easy 4.5 to 5 star album here if they trimmed it down a bit.
Very nice pleasant album. 3.5 stars but 3 for this site.
Nice pleasant listen, seems like a mood album. When you are in the right mood it’s might be a fantastic album. That said I’m going 3.5 for this and 3 for the project.
Probably my favorite Steely Dan album. Easy 5 stars.
Very enjoyable listen. Not a masterpiece by any means but well put together. Easy 4 stars.
Very nice but not essential
Fine, kind of grates after a while.
3.5 as an album, but 4 for this. Loveless is a huge step above this. Great debut though.
Putting 3.5 for RYM site but 3 for here. Lacks passion though it’s well played and performed. Does have cool moments. Freddie’s Dead is cool.
Why is this here? It’s ok, I guess.
Fun! 4 stars.
Entertaining but a bit samey throughout.
High 4 stars
3.5 stars.
Pretty cool live jazz album. Starts off kind of slow but picks up steam at the end. All Of You was pretty awesome. 3.5 stars for RYM and 3 for the site.
My favorite REM album.
Nice, harmless singer/songwriter fare. 3.5 stars. Title track, Vincent, Empty Chairs the highlights.
Very nice, but has a strong easy listening vibe that is a bit too strong. BUT, it is Ray Charles so it’s highly tolerable. 3.5 stars but I’m bumping it to 4 on this site because I’m a nice person.
Cocker’s lyrics are a delight on this. Almost as good as Different Class. 4.5 stars but 5 on site.
Sometime I think, ugh, U2. Great. Then I listen to one of their albums and I think, yeah, this is very good. And that’s what I think of U2. A very good band that was shoved down our throats in the 80s and 90s as the best band out there, when they were merely a very good band. And this is a very good album. Definitely not a masterpiece, there’s some filler. The hits are great. 4 stars.
Power-pop masterpiece and their best album. 5 stars.
Really enjoyed this. Funky, pretty, tasteful. Solid 4 stars.
Lame-o. I remember they really tried to make Robbie famous and the States but it just didn’t work. We saw through his bad boy persona and saw that he was a tool. Blahhhh. 2 stars
Kind of mopey, a bit samey, a bit monotonous. The singles on the album save it from a lower rating. Another puzzling entry for this book. 3 stars
Pretty good punk album. 3.5 stars
Really cool album with awesome bass playing.
Really cool album. Has a surprising element of confessional songwriting. I think I understand why Rowland is highly regarded in his country.
This is great! Love David’s singing on this and the backing vocals are A+. Only misstep is The Beatles cover. Everything else is luscious. 4.5 stars but will round up to 5 for this project.
3.5 stars, great singles with ok filler
Nice easy listening Brazilian music. Good music to clean the house to. 3.5 stars but rounding up to 4 here.
Really cool album, much preferred the second half of the album. Stir It Up is so sublime.

Finally, a Nick Cave album I think is decent! Love the duets the most. 3.5 stars.
No melodies anywhere. At least Loveless and Isn’t Anything had them. 2 stars
Super lame!!!!! Laughably terrible. And is he opening a can of soda on his album cover? He also looks like Seth Green from Can’t Hardly Wait. Very 1999 album cover.
Ha ha I actually liked this. Really interesting arrangements and Buckley’s voice sounds great.
This sucks. I get jazz and post rock but this is boring as hell.
This isn’t bad, but it’s pretty bland with moments of decentness. Even though it’s 48 minutes it’s way too long. Low 3 stars.
Really good, tasty 80s R&B. 4 stars
Always want to like this more than I do. That said, I do like this album quite a bit. High 3.5 stars that I’m going to give 4 on this site.
Funky. Suave. Sassy. Chic.
I’m not feeling this, man. The organ grates on me after a while. The songs are kind of boring too.
It’s fine, but ultimately did not move me.
I liked this! Pretty groovy and jazzy and a bit Stoney. I’m giving this a 3.5 for now but I think it’s a grower so I’m going 4 on the site.
Boring as hell, dawg
