Reviews (page 5 of 7)

Occasionally clean and funky, but ultimately the vocorder abuse, general jumping around, and quite stark and overly obtrusive samples and sounds don’t make it very coherent or easy on the ear. I like a lot of their contemporaries, but this has always sounded like a bit of a mess to me.

Some good noise but noise

Okay, whatever that was. Undanceable dance music. I know it was recorded by Basement Jaxx because they say “Basement Jaxx” about 400 times. Cool album cover.

Not feeling it. I hate to say "it sounds like a bunch of noise" because I listen to a lot of music that can be categorized as that (metal, industrial, dubstep, etc). I also listen to a lot of electronica (including a TON from the 90s...too much to name), as well as a lot of "weird" music (Mike Patton-anything, Primus, Björk, etc). But this is for a way different level of ADHD than what my brain can tolerate. Ok... there is *ONE* redeeming track on this album. Very last one, "Being With U"

This is pretty average ’90s electronic dance music. Nothing really stands out, and even the catchier tracks fade from memory quickly. By the time the album ends, there’s very little that sticks with you.

A few catchy singles but really dips off at the end. I absolutely wasn’t in the mood for this today but there’s really not much wrong with it.

I can imagine listening to this at the cusp of Y2K in a dingy, sweaty club. Fun, dance-y vibes. Why that one song sound like an orgy though.

Some songs were good, but I don't think this style of dance music is for me.

i’ve heard japanese noise rock more listenable than this.

**An ok album

Some sick beats here, but as always, why would I listen to a whole album of this?

Red alert is a good song. The rest sounds like a bunch of synthesized noise thrown in a pot and stirred.

Interesting sound in some track, atrocious vocals in others (first two in particular). I wish they were an instrumental group and more experimental, less pop. I liked the male vocals in "Jump n shout".

Uhhh, should have been kept in the basement Jacks

Pretty boring as 90’s electronica goes. The moaning song made me want to go back to church.

The music you use to fill gaps between better songs at a club. There is just nothing here. 2/5.

Some of this I will never get, so it just won’t resonate, but at least I do not find this offensive.

Not for me.

not my thing

Not great tbh there are way better electronic albums and I haven’t given anything a 2 yet. Red alert is a tune though

Einiges Tanzbares, der Rest Belangloses (mehr Sounds als Songs). Als Musik zum nur Hören an dieser Stelle verkehrt.

Like rave usually is...very repetitive. Good for certain situations only.

Who listens to this outside a club environment?

Way more gritty and urban than I had realised. Didn’t really enjoy and put me off the songs I knew!

I really didn't know what to expect with this album, and I'm surprised I managed to sit through all of it. I didn't necessarily dislike Remedy, but most of the songs really weren't for me, with the exception of the tracks Always Be There and Being With U. The track Same Old Show however I had to skip halfway through due to the constant moaning. I hope to one day come back to this album and think of it differently, but I don't believe that day is going to be soon.

I know I was listening in the wrong environment, but Rendez Vu and Bingo Bango are the stand-out tracks in an album that I would ignore even on the dance floor.

2.5 If you like late 90s dance music then you'll probably like this. Some of the tracks were fun to listen to, but at nearly an hour this album is way too long. Not really my thing but I didn't hate it.

Did you see Basement Jaxx in the boiler room, brah? Fully sick aye. Fckn nuts brah. See ya in Environmental Law 201 next week brah.

Yeah this is not for me..

I bought and listened to list album in the 90s and have not revisited it till today. I can see why! It has not aged well and apart from the singles all feels a bit pointless.

I don't think I'm ever going to come full around to enjoying Drum n Bass EDM. This album however had some fairly enjoyable (if fleeting) moments that didn't make it a total slog to get through. Still not good, but not wholly terrible. Top tracks: Jump N' Shout, Don't Give Up

i like some of the elements in the album but mostly they don’t go together. this doesn’t even feel like an album. it’s too random and has aged poorly

I don’t think I was on the right drugs to fully enjoy this.

There might’ve been a song or two that got my attention, but those moments weren’t enough to tip the scales.

Ew DNF Best Song: N/A Rating: 2.5/10 Stars: 2

Generic electronic music that was probably used in a Kia Sole commercial.

WHERE S YOUR HEAD AT HEAD AT HEAD AT а, бля, это не тот альбом. ну ладно.

Electronic music that sounds like it isn’t only played by robots, but was composed for robots. No soul. 1.5 stars.

The kind of music playing from a stage I would walk straight past at a festival

Not necessarily a fan of dance music, and this does tend to drag a bit in places for me, but they were brilliant when I saw them live at Milton Keynes as a support act and I do like Rendez-Vu and especially Red Alert, which is excellent.

A fatiguing listen - I don’t feel like I should be playing this music in my house..

03/10 11.01.2026

give me a flaming bottle of vodka and that 2 could be jaxxed up

Another on where I like the samples but the rest bores me to tears. I don’t hate it, I just wouldn’t listen to it out of choice. Maybe it’s good driving music because it keeps you awake?

I recognize there's a time and a place for this music. Maybe I'll revisit when I'm there.

I don't know why I keep thinking we've reached the end of electronica albums on this list, and I keep getting disappointed when yet another one shows up. Having said that, I didn't hate this, but I don't know why this had to be put on the list. There is nothing to distinguish this from any other mid electronica album.

This is not an album to listen to while 100% sober at work. Unfortunately, that is where and how I listened to it. I may have enjoyed this under other circumstances, but just couldn't really get into this time. I'm not sure if I'll feel inclined to try it again. Overall: 1.9/5

Esse é o pior álbum que eu já ouvi

Can’t get into these guys

Pretty stale club music.

An hour of soulless dance noise. No thanks - I won't be coming back for more. I can't understand why this is important and it certainly isn't enjoyable.

Was not expecting to see this on the list! Genuinely alarming that it’s 26 years old! Quite a few of the tracks on here are know to me as singles, but I’ve never listened to this album before. Listening to it in 2025 I can't say it's setting the world on fire for me as an album. Maybe it had more impact at the time of release? 1.5 rounded to a 2

Oh dear. I remember "Red Alert" which I felt was a generic, but likeable dance track at the turn of the millennium. One song does not an album make. That one track drags this album above the 1 but what the heck.

I'm sure someone enjoys this, but it's not me. There are a couple of okay songs, but mostly this is so repetitive that it becomes annoying.

Most songs follow a predictable pattern common to electronic dance music. But there are one or two standouts -- "Red Alert", for example.

Not really into house music anymore so this was just a long hour. Not discounting the talent but not for me.

So of its time, turn of the millennium beats with random lyrics thrown on to and a lot of "yaw yaw" noise and layered noodling. "Red Alert" and "Rendez-Vu" stand out as songs I heard in those turn of the millennium clubs 25 years ago, the rest is.... regrettable.

When I first listened to this, I thought "I must be in the wrong mood to listen." However, after revisiting it multiple times over a couple of days, I can safely say that I do not like this album. It is grating.

Red alert is still a tune but the rest of the album is largely random noises

Coming out of the basement, this duo throws together a decent party album. The drum beats are a little one-dimensional and it gets a bit noisy but you can't help but have a good time. Their top track "Where's Your Head At" (which I recently learned is a sample of Gary Numan's "M.E.") ain't on here so the honors go to "Red Alert." End slows down and lost my interest. I did not expect the Jaxx to make the list. Wasn't aware they were that big or influential. Not a bad listen but skippable at 1.89 stars.

I knew I remembered Basement Jaxx from somewhere and it took until I listened to Red Alert for me to place them. It was also the only song I really enjoyed on the album.

Aptly named, there are strange things in the basement

I couldn’t finish it just really not my style. However, after reading up on the artist I greatly respect this album!

Started off fine but got worse and worse. Only decent songs are Red Alert and Rendez-Vu.

Interesting isn't always good. 3/10

Didn't leave a major impression, don't think I'm a big house person

No. 2/5

I like groups LIKE Basement Jaxx, but I’ve never been able to get into them. I’m clearly in the wrong as this group has collaborated with many people I like and respect, but it’s just not my type of “boom boom” music. Too chunky for me.

Better than some electronic albums because of the R&B or jazz samples. It's still an electronic album, though.

Trop de morceaux énervants

I did not care for this.

The best song is the one that’s 22 seconds. But sure let’s listen to the same loop for 6 minutes. I swear house music has to be the most pretentious art form

Not my thing 11/8/2025 10:23 am

Not my thing. Few decent tunes

Eh. It's an electronic album, so... Still not really my thing. It isn't changing my mind on my issues with electronic. Jump n Shout is fun, at least.

An album very much set in its time, and not even one of the better ones from that time. Not a horrible album, but nothing special either.

Quote from Wikipedia: "Most dance music is very shiny and so robotic," Simon Ratcliffe told Rolling Stone. "There's just not much feeling. If we made a record like that, we'd be just like everybody else." Sorry to break the news to you, but this just sounds like everybody else! In fact all the songs just start to sound the same after awhile.

Generic clubby dance music. Maybe this is wildly significant and important but if it is, it's lost on me! Some nostalgia but mostly just kind of annoying. Would have been better without the obnoxious auto-tune.

boring

Een par hits, dreunende beats. Ongetwijfeld ooit vooruitstrevend en je voelt dat er een hele edm-scène uit is voortgevloeid, maar als album niet heel overtuigend

I wanted to like this more than I did

I forgot what the artist name was a couple times, but they reminded me.

Not my thing but finished it.

Not for me. Not really sure who it's for.

More like Meh-Tronkca

Red Alet is still a banger, but the rest of it is too weird and dull

It’s not bad, but it’s EDM, so a couple dudes in the basement with a mic and a noise making synth does not count. The whole genre takes little skill. Cheaters.

Alcuni pezzi carini, altri meno. Jump ‘n shout mi ha ricordato il Katalicammello

In a past life, I used Remedy help desk software for issue tracking. For all I know, this album is about that software.

I knew there was a reason I never got into this band. It's because they kind of suck.

Need to listen when I am in a dancing mood

Not bad. Not very good. Easy listening for a party. 2 stars.

I really am disliking the majority of these electronic albums

This music sounds like I am about to pay too much for sunglasses at a place next to a Chipotle.

Better than other albums of this ilk, but not something that rewards close listening.

Not for me. Samsey bleep blorp bullshit.

Remedy by Basement Jaxx is an OK electronic dance album from the late 90s, but in truth it doesn’t stand out from the wave of similar records of that era. For me, it’s nothing particularly special. There are a couple of undeniable bangers—“Red Alert” and “Rendez-Vous”—but beyond those, the rest of the album feels bland and forgettable. I gave it a 2/5 purely for those two tracks, but it could just as easily have been a 1/5. Favourite track: Red Alert—a proper clubbing anthem from back in the day. Least favourite track: Pretty much everything else. Album artwork: Lots of flesh—very of its time.

There are some great moments here among electronic music's best. Unfortunately, it drones on boringly for much of its runtime.

I am an electronica/techno fan, and I like some of Basement Jaxx' stuff, but not really sure why this album is considered required listening. Some of the samples they use are actually pretty annoying, to be honest.

People are in the reviews of this album bemoaning dance music and insulting electronic, and I think it's unfair to go and rate an album based off the genre rather than the album itself. anyway, ts is so ass bro 😭😭 holy fuck

I do not personally like

Didn’t listen fully, didn’t like the few songs I listened to but I reckon has potential

I guess I’m not a fan of mutated mixing. Not a fun listening experience.

This directly after "...Baby One More Time". Is it 1999 week on 1001 Albums?

Electronic and boring!

I like dance music, but I’ve never really liked Basement Jaxx. I’ve always just thought of them as ‘noise merchants’ and this album reinforces this. It’s just noise. There is no flow. It’s all just noise!

This music reminds me of being in places I don’t want to be in (mainly clubs). There’s a few decent tracks but it all feels too generic to be noteworthy at all. Jump ‘N Shout was pretty good though, the one diamond in the rough.

Tout allait bien jusqu’à Same Old Show Le nom Basement Jaxx fit bien, parce qu’on dirait vraiment quelque chose que tu entendrais dans un shitty basement party Y’en a des pas si pire…… mais 2/5

mostly annoying with a touch of nice rythm

2 estrelas musica chata

Some of the songs were cool, but it was boring and too long. Could've been half the length and more engaging because in a scenario where I'm just purely listening most of the time is just spent hoping that the song will end soon. I liked the more interesting songs; favorite was U Can't Stop Me.

I got the point three songs in. Not bad but nothing I would ever turn to. Very limited art form.

This sounds like something that was popular on college campuses for, like, a year in the early 2000's and was promptly lost to time. Party-ready beats that range a few genres. This is my first time hearing Basement Jaxx, which is surprising to me. Either way, I don't think I'll be coming back to this. There are some decent ideas here, but most everything feels partially baked. Kind of baffled by its inclusion on the list.

Not a fan. Did nothing for me.

its fine

This is as close to a 1 as you can get without being a 1. I don’t hate it enough to be a 1 but I don’t like it enough for it to be anything more than a 2. What even is this

This is one of those albums I have a hard time rating because it's not that the music was particularly "bad" from a quality standpoint, it's just not something I personally enjoyed. I am definitely not the target audience for this. I was also under the weather, and this was not the type of music to get me through the day, so maybe on a different day I'd give it a slightly better score...but it wasn't my general cup of tea anyway.

Like having something stuck in your throat.

I understand two things after listening to this album. 1. I realize this is a great example of house party music from the late 90s. 2. I never liked house party beats from the late 90s.

I truly have no idea why this is on the list. Sounds like the house music one hears when waiting in line at a bad dance bar.

Songs to play at the club if the goal is to get people to leave

5/10 Highlight: Rendez-Vu Sidenote: there are quite a number of inconsequential EDM albums on the list, all of them from England...

A couple of singles tent poling a lot of crap.

Surprisingly, I found that I quite liked this album; a little weird, but otherwise enjoyable.

Some fun beats here and there but not something I’d listen to a second time

Interesting for EDM!

Dance beats

Album doesn’t really know what it is. Too diverse to have any sort of identity. It was ok

I need some proper drugs first and then listen to this cause wtf

I just didn't enjoy this, not my preferred method of sacrifice

not my type of music. not a fan

What a… bad electronic album. Look, I listen to ALOT of the genre and this is probably the bottom of what I’ve heard. I’ve heard beginner producers make 5x better stuff than this. Tho saying that they did make an absolute banger on this absolute, bingo bango alone nearly pushed this to a 3 hahaha. But I’m not that kind so yea

I listened to this whilst the rain delay for the Spa-Francorchamps Formula One race was happening, and my god, it was such a boring electronic album. It didn't do much at all, and I seriously wanted to sleep, which electronic music is supposed to prevent, but alas, Red Alert was decent, I guess. It didn't help that the Formula One race was boring, but good on Oscar Piastri.

Barely works as background music.

Didn't hurt to listen to, a bit too long though. So interesting beats and samples, but after my first listen, I am left with not much to say good or bad. It would be interesting if someone in this genre made a song where they sample a dude having an orgasm for a change of pace. Actually, nevermind, that would be worse and I'm sorry I said anything. I guess Robert Plant covered that ground anyway. Mostly forgettable grooves. First half was ok.

red alert was good. no thanks to everything else

Same as yesterday's album. Dated AF.

Didn't really dislike it but it all blended together after a while.

2 It has its moments. I’m a big fan of house and trance music, but I find most of this album to be pretty obnoxious and just low effort.

** Techno….no

Expected more

Idk what mood I need to be in for this to not be jarring, but I wasn't in it yesterday

Like…why?

Tedious with some occasional interesting sounds and beats such as Spanish guitar on opening track, the song "Red Alert." If I was into going to clubs in 1999 I may have been into it.

Fun at times but cringey, annoying, and unlistenable more often Yo yo yo yo yo yo no

mostly crap

Where's "Where's your head at?" at?

I was doing so well with these albums. I had avoided overly-long dance/electronica albums for several days now. Now, these albums have come back to haunt me again. I don't hate electronica or dance music, but there is just so damn much of this stuff in this book. I just get tired. Rendez-Vu Red Alert Same Old Show Bingo Bango Those are the songs I recommend and this isn't awful, but I just can't do too many more of these electronica albums.

Not as bad as expected, but definitely not meant for me. Fav: Don‘t give up

Dance music that you cannot dance to. Hated this, but 'Red Alert' was cool.

I hate dancing, so this “dance album” should be right down my alley. It isn’t though.

2 - standard electronica

How much is the fish???

Listened Before? N Pretty okay for a late 90's dance album. Not saying much there but it could've been worse I guess? Very cliche' and repetitive. Not my cup of tea mostly. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Red Alert

Wasn't really my cup of tea; I was into the first song or two but then it got a bit too 1999 and I fell out of it. Took the best 2-3 songs with me in favorites, won't relisten. Favorite track: Bingo Bango

Late 1990s house album from the UK - the first songs were very repetitive, and so were the last few songs, I liked the middle part the best because it was more interesting and varied. I like different electronic music but this was overall not to my liking. There are other electronic albums even from the 90s that I love a lot more than them.

Longest hour of my life

Had to turn it off because it was scaring both me and my dogs.

Jackin' in the basement is unfortunately a good description

Well this is annoying

Bargain basement (jaxx) beats. 2/5

Could someone please explain to me why I need to hear this album? It's repetitive, bloated and self indulgent. Even the big singles don't really do anything to excite, even if they're the only semi enjoyable tracks on the record, but they still overstay their welcome.

There was dancing. There was mixing. None of it bad. But I think this has been covered by others in often more interesting ways.

I don’t think I needed to listen to this. Maybe I’d have danced to this in the naughties but I certainly don’t want to listen to this while sitting at my desk in the year of our lord 2025

Yo, yo, yo, yo this was never my scene. Honestly, it sounds similar to the sounds my 11 yo smashes together and considers music. Although he'd probably add some fart effects.

Sounded like a soundtrack to a modern dance show I wouldn't want to see.

Not an album or genre I am attracted to but surprisingly the first few tracks were OK. But that was the trouble the album collectively was a bit meh and OK. For a dance album not one to get the pulse thumping. 2/5 14/5/25

Som om klockan är 03:13 på yaki-da och man har tappat bort alla polare

Selv hittet er dårligt

I can respect the creativity and effort that goes into making electronic music. But I’ve never really enjoyed listening to it, and this album did little to change that for me.

For dance music, this one felt a bit like drowning.

Solid on your phone on the subway music

In a different time and place, maybe this would be a 3? Found myself wanting to turn the volume down and tune out vs. tuning in.

Where’s Your Head At? is a great song….which isn’t on this album….So I’m left wondering if TWO Basement Jaxx albums made the list….which would be…..surprising…..

we have Daft Punk at home

“Same Old Show” was terrible; the rest ranged from pretty bad to mediocre to pretty good. I don’t hate the genre or the album, but it really doesn’t feel like it belongs on this list.

I’d heard Bingo Bango before but found the piano in the background totally distracting. The rest was just noise

Not for me

Like most other electronica on this list, this s album was fine but devolved into nothing more than background music. I feel like I knew the song “Red Alert” but not sure. Unfortunately there were more tracks that I disliked than my enjoyment

This reminded me of early 2000s which makes sense because that’s basically when it came out. That’s all.

Auf, auf, auf, mit dem Ghettoblaster in den Park und ab, ab, ab 📻

kinda sucked ngl

A couple of songs I loved, but then lots of filler that isn't really my style.

Ce genre de musique me semble tellement daté qu’il lui faut un facteur nostalgie, c’est-à-dire qu’on en ait écouté à l’époque et qu’on aime déjà ça…

2.5 Is it a Wednesday? Then there’s an 8/10 chance I’m getting a British electronica album from 1995-2001 that clocks in at at least an hour long. The dude who made this list simply cannot help himself. Every fucking band who made one made it on this list. The well is endless. I make the joke everytime, but it really is true. You think “surely there can’t be more British electronica albums on this list,” and next week there’s another. Ya know - this was even one of the better ones if I’m being honest. I thought it started a lot stronger than over ones, was groovier, less ambient, more rocking. But it just loses steam towards the end and I’m just annoyed that I’ve already listened to 20 albums like this before.

Not a big fan of EDM or House music, but Basement Jaxx does it better than most. I would have put Rooty on the list instead, as it is a better and more notable album. This one is listenable, but doesn't break through in the way that one does.

OK.. na 1 song heb je de trukendoos gehoord... blijkbaar hadden ze maar 1 vaatje om uit te tappen en het was dan nog een klein vaatje ook...

A British house album that had me partying at certain points during it, “Same Old Show” for example. But the rest was a bit unremarkable. I find it easy to lose track of the fact that I’m listening to this type of music and perhaps that’s the point.

It's very of its time. Where's your head at is a great track. But it isn't on this. So if you feel like getting an idea of the sound of late 90s/early 2000s hedonism... This is probably it.

eh. some cool stuff now and then but mostly just annoying sounds and uninteresting beats

Thoughts before listening: I'm pretty sure this is some sort of 90s/00s techno, rave group. I wasn't into this type of music at the time, and I probably won't be into it now either. Review: Yeah this isn't for me. This sounds like all the other dance music from the late 90s. It's extremely repetitive and while I understand the appeal for some people, it just doesn't do anything for me. 2-stars

-this is um. idk not much stood out to me. felt sort of like dollar store Daft Punk with an added dose of cringe? -like most albums on here it had its fair share of highlights. started off pretty strong, but quickly fell flat and became bland at best. I am not a huge house music person so I could be biased but I will be in no rush to hear this again yea -Favorites are Rendez-Vu and Bingo Bango

This was mostly uninteresting, even though the album cover is rather interesting to say the least. I did find a version of this album that is performed by an Australian Symphony that is far superior. 2/5

Could tell by the album cover/ year of release exactly what this would be like. Kinda flew by but I don’t really like it. 2/5

A lot seemed to be missing *something*; boring and uninteresting. 2* The album cover and "same old show" felt very inappropriate to have at work, had to skip. Highlights: red alert

I just can't really envision a place and space for this other than where it is played: the club, being out. I guess in that sense it's not bad, but I'm not throwing this on during my day or around the house

Background music with weird vocals. Not much more than that

My toe tapped a couple times so you get a couple stars. But it was not a great album.

2/5. This one might take some time to really get into just like Homework. At the moment, it's fun and simple, and I'm sure there's more than just what I'm hearing going on, but I am not feeling the bounce or the passion in the house music. I don't think I'm finding myself dancing to this often, but there is an organic feel to it. Despite the electronics, it feels like people are playing these instruments, instead of a repetitive beat which clearly sounds robotic. The main issue is that the music is not all good to begin with, so the organic addition does not improve it much. It's not terrible but not great. Best Song: Bingo Bango, Jump n' Shout, Always Be There

Man I’m just not really into house music. I like a few tracks but overall it’s kind of boring. This album was not an exception. Every song was too long and I get it, they’re long on purpose for like raves or whatever. I love electronic music just not this.

❌❌❌❌ Nicht gut Ich hatte so ne tolle streak schade 😔

I guess it seemed ok enough as electronic, not for me Will I listen to again: 0%

Fine but too long

Meh not my thing. The music itself was sometimes ok but the awful vocals ruined most of the songs.

Thought this was gonna be Metal. Had some easy listening dance music that you were in some clothing store in the mall. But, as we all know, those songs you hear while shopping are ones everyone sings to or ones that don’t pull you away from conversation or thought.

It's EDM- industrial, sexy, intense. I'm sure it's great in the clubs, otherwise it's alright.

I dislike it but don't hate it. Why? Probably because I didn't hear it in context when it came out, and it's very much of its time but the moment is gone.

Thought I would like it more than I did prob between 2 and three

some songs and parts are kinda cool, but overall it was a repetitive weirdness that I am not interested in revisiting. It's like if the avalanches music just looped the background stuff the whole time

I like basement jaxx but this album didn't grab me. Didn't finish 1.5

decent

Early electronic stuff definitely paved the way for what we have today, but it is not so glamorous listening back on it. Definitely had me bopping as house music has a tendency to do, but I don't think I enjoyed it as a whole. The songs lacked cohesion that I would expect out of an album. The lyrics are very much from 1999. There's some cool sound design, but it never really got put together. A 2.5 is in order for this one. Probably giving it more credit for being early electronic, but I am rounding down based purely on enjoyment.

Maybe if I inhaled an entire bag of spray paint then listened to this I would have actually liked it

A little jarring and a little much, but really liked the origin story in the book.

Feels like you need to do a load of cocaine and ecstasy, in 1999, as a 20 year old, to really enjoy this. 2/5

Remedy is the debut studio album by English electronic music duo Basement Jaxx, originally released in 1999. I read some other user reviews on this album that referenced an interview by Basement Jaxx. They mentioned how much they disliked the house music scene at the time, noting how the genre felt too "robotic". They wanted to revolutionize the genre with this album. In a way, I can see what they were going for. The first few tracks have distinctive use of acoustic instruments such as acoustic guitar and tabla. However, this idea was short-lived in this record. It's just wildly inconsistent. The first half of the album is very upbeat whereas the second half begins to trail off to a more ambient-influenced sound. I also understand the use of sampling in the context of house music but the samples on here felt pretty repetitive at times.

I was so underwhelmed by this! I thought it'd be great fun but it's actually fairly boring throughout. The three tracks I knew were easily the best and the rest just sounded like filler basically.

After over 1000 albums, I reserve my right to get tired of it.

Odd that, at the time they complained about the meretricious quality of dance music because 25 years on, this sounds just as flash and pointless as the stuff about which they railed.

A couple of catchy songs on here, but overall I found it bloated and repetitive. I see why it's on the list, and didn't hate it, but it's not as good as their contemporaries like Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, etc.

Best Song: Red Alert. A decently funky groove, buoyed by a great vocal sample. Worst Song: Same Old Show. A terribly unsexy attempt to make a sexy song. Overall: I can't remember the last time I heard an album that so freely alternated between decent grooves and the worst, most annoying beats imaginable. The duality of bro.

maybe Jazzalude is the best track here

Sensual yet robotic, sharp, seedy. I’m not really into the vibe or sound of this, but I can see how it might have impressed a lot of people back in its era. Best song: Red Alert

I can dig me some EDM. And while this album is much more listenable than some of the prior ones in the genre, and especially some of the drum n bass ones…I find myself asking: are there really this many EDM/dance albums that I must hear before I die? I’m starting to think: no, there are not.

Thought I’d like this more than I did. Better than drum and bass we’ve had lately but still not great. Too bad this album doesn’t have Where’s Your Head At…. 1.75/5

i mean. This is kinda tough because I feel like they try to do so much, they just threw stuff at the wall and hoped it stuck. and most of the time, it didn't. If you heard the first 30 seconds of each song, you heard the whole thing. the best song was red light and the rest of them aren't worth listening to.

Perhaps a Tuesday morning early admin session was not the forum for this album, but it didn’t slap.

Yeah I feel like Remedy doesn't meet my memory of Basement Jaxx, the singles are better than the other stuff on there, which is quite crap, but even then only Red Alert and Bingo Bango are actually good. Not sure those two alone get this up to a 3, it's very heavy lifting if they do.

Don't have any nostalgia for this, can't recall hearing any of it before. Singles sound okay, if a bit dated, it's very very 90s, not really for me. Red Alert is head and shoulders above the rest, not bothered by the rest of it, 2/5.

The singles still sound fine, the production isn’t varied or interesting enough to have aged this album particularly well though.

In fairness, it was probably pretty fresh in 1999, but all I can see now is the background to a 2004 JC Penney commercial.

OK really getting tired of the British electronic music. This one is more obnoxious to me.

Why must I hear this before I die? It didn’t really ever rise above potentially interesting but disappointing.

Yeah, it has its moments. 2.5 stars

Incredibly boring house music.

I liked a few tracks, but mostly was annoying

Takie okej. Do lecenia w tle, ale ciężko coś zapamiętać.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I hate this genre

C'est peut-être parce que j'écoute pas ça dans une boîte de nuit après avoir chug une bouteille de Quaalude, mais messemble que même dans ce scenario là j'aurais pas plus envie de danser là-dessus

This doesn’t have their big hit (Where’s Your Head At). But it does have Red Alert, which I didn’t realize was them. That’s a good one. Feels like you need to do a load of cocaine and ecstasy, in 1999, as a 20 year old, to really enjoy this. Some parts feel like a Daft Punk imitation. Some parts want to give me a heart attack. Some parts are alright. Not required listening. 2/5

Couldn’t really get into it. I found it weird and grating instead of cool and funky, so it’s just not for me.

Song with the girl getting railed

真的要让我连着打出两个2分么(

Not my bag.

I never listen to this genre- so I can’t tell you if it is good or not in that regard. I can say I didn’t care for it nor will I willfully listen to it again. But it didn’t make my ears bleed like a few of these albums did.

not good.

I don't know how to operate this music.

Reminds me of nights out as a student in the soulless clubs full of posers

Almost as bad as rap. I don't appreciate this "music".

Actually kinda enjoyed it despite the rating, wouldn't ever chuck it on though

This was okay. Decent house music but I'm not sure I could distinguish it from most other house music of the time or that followed it.

As an album I found the sound became bland and same same. I think they are best listened to by song

Detta här var trist. Always Be There var kanske lite bra. Vände lite mot slutet. Två elkontakter får det bli.

Meh Standout songs: U Cant Stop Me Bingo Bango

Whew there’s a lot better house music. Not sure what context I’m missing to make this one interesting. Rating: 1.9

Mediocre album. This is just some late 90s house/electronica for dancing/partying. There is really nothing more to it, and, for me, it doesn't really have any value other than something that might play at a club I would go to very rarely. **

Not my kind of music, although some catchy and groovy elements here and there

The first 3 tracks were incredible, but the rest is forgettable and so average or below. I am truly disappointed after hearing the first 3 tracks and saying "Wow this is gonna be another 5/5."

Meh. May be one of the better electronic albums. But still not my thing.

Start remind me of a bad version of Daft Punk but as the album progressed it slowly became just noises

It was alright didn’t really stand out to me, though aren’t the biggest fan of electro music type stuff 4/10

banging beats, relentless, uptempo but lacking a human touch.

Way too long for my tastes. Could be 30-40 mins with 10 songs easily. It would be a lot more bearable. Most of the songs were background levels. Three very good tracks on here though - Rendezvous, red alert and bingo bango.

What was that

Do some of these songs sound like they were made on Music 2000? Yes. I'm pretty sure i wrote Same Old Show on my ps1. Mtv music generator... two! It's fine, not my thing.

ist halt nicht meine Musik

Not my thing, but put this on while working and I was pretty damn productive.

I wasn’t super into it.

Muy largo y, aunque puede haber sido novedoso en aquellos años, hoy más bien suena anticuado.
