Weird and weird.

Amazing

Imagine sitting at a coffee shop, enjoying a nice cup of joe. Then an elderly French man, in the grips of dementia, starts screaming in song right in your face in French. That’s this record.

If you’re wanting to listen to something with a toe tapping beat with hopeful lyrics that you can jam to with your friends on the way to the bar… this isn’t the album. If you want to sit in a dark living room with a bottle of bottom shelf bourbon then this is your soundtrack.

If you want falsetto proto-metal

Imagine if Jim Morrison impersonator of the doors met up with a group of guys that want to be REM, but their talent was never there. This is what this album reminded me of. 1 star might give people hope to listen to it. DON’T!!!

While I’ve never listened nor searched for this band or duo or whatever they’re called, it was meh. Lots of want to be emo, want to be REM and want to be whatever but to be honest… it was just noise. Emo noise. Doesn’t want me to break out eyeliner and cry about life

This took my so called proto/pop punk cherry and when I first listened to it as a young Turk and it became a go to for everything from just listening to it for fun to getting me out of teenage funk. It was and still is a gateway to my crush of Debbie Harry.

This was it. The first album I ever bought on vinyl. This is what took Van Halen from superstars of rock arenas and running with the devil to available to the MTV masses. It gave the casual rock fans a taste of what you knew with their albums before this. The driving of Alex’s drums, Dave’s vocals and Michael’s bass to surround the genius of Eddie Van Halen’s guitar.

Was every band from England trying to be Oasis around this time? Charlatans = Temu Oasis

Ok. So when you decided to make noise rock, did you intend to make it so that it sounded like someone being water boarded. You’d have to be either comatose or suspended in gel filled matrix pod to not realize how much you will HATE this SHIT. This AWFUL collection of songs made for torture is about as ANNOYING as a restaurant filled with screaming children. I’d blame WITCHCRAFT as to why this exists but do we really want to blame witches with this hellscape of music?

This was played by a girl I crushed on for most of high school. Whether it was on wax in her house on her dad’s record player or on tape in her car, she made me remember this album and all of the good times I had listening to this album. It’s bluesy, soulful and represents the simplicity of a blues rock band like the Rolling Stones. They are the ying to the yang of the band they are spoken in the same breath as… The Beatles. This isn’t an album full of their hits scattered with other sound a like songs. Outside of the two songs like Sympathy for the Devil and Street Fighting Man, each song is crafted to stand alone. Each song is delivered as almost reverence to those blues players that came before, that inspired them. Give it a listen and you’ll understand why they share recognition with George, Ringo, Paul and John while at the same time have little in common with the lads from Liverpool.
